Morning all,
All the gossip over the weekend has been around Cesc Fabregas. He’s reportedly unhappy at Barcelona, the mother of his child spends most of her time in London and he wants to return.
We have first option I believe if this story is true, but would you welcome him back??
The Sun report that Arsene Wenger wants Sevilla’s Holding Midfielder, Geoffrey Kondogbia to join in the summer.
Wenger said:
I don’t really want to talk about Kondogbia too much because everyone’s after him at the moment.
When you ask ‘Are you also interested?’ what do you expect me to say?
I’m sure we all have a thought about that…..
Back to yesterday’s game and I couldn’t believe how much hype surrounded one man’s return to The Emirates!
Anyway, it’s done and dusted and now it can all be put to bed…
As for the game itself, well we weren’t that bad were we?
At this time of the season, there is little point in dissecting the game in my opinion but what I will say is, had we played all season like we did for most of the game yesterday, we would be where City are right now if not Utd.
We came out of the blocks with pace, we closed Manure down and they didn’t like it. In fact for the majority of the first half, they had nothing in them. Every loose ball and every challenge was won by us and I think I am right in saying we scored the quickest goal we have done this season. I may be wrong, I can’t be bothered to check!
We could have added to that score-line on more than one occasion but we didn’t.
Certain players had clear chances which weren’t taken and other players were crucial in preventing the opposition from scoring from the very few chances they had….
A gaff by Sagna led to them stealing an equaliser but for the rest of the game, that same defender was solid, as were the entire back five.
Would anyone argue against the fact that yesterday, we witnessed one of the better performances of the season from Arsene’s men?
Had we played Blackburn and Bradford and approached both in the same way we did the Mancs, we would not have lost. Had we faced the so called ‘lesser’ sides in the PL in the same way, we would not have drawn/lost. Had we put up that same kind of fight against Bayern at home, we wouldn’t have lost 3-1 either would we?
This squad isn’t as bad as the media/pundits make out. It has skill, it has balls, it has desire. We just don’t see it often enough!!
It just lacks 3/4 players full of quality, ability and willingness to give us a little bit extra. Right now we are playing with a few squad players rather than ‘out and out’ first team players.
We drew against the newly crowned Premier League Champions, but for most of the game we beat them to every ball, we won every challenge and we played them off the park.
Just a top striker alongside Podolski and a strong, battling midfielder alongside Cazorla would have made all the difference yesterday in my opinion. That’s just for starters…..
The foundations are set Arsene, now go and finish the brick work…….
Have a good day all….
Morning all,
very precise post Rico… straight to the point with the match report.
I totally agree. AW has to put his foot down or maybe listen to his colleagues and address the little handicap we have. Otherwise someone will come in and take his glory by buying 3 good players and winning in his first season.
On the new PV rumours, I prefer his colleague Gary ‘the pitbull’ Medel aka chilean Gattuso… he runs all day like he has an engine for a heart.
Good Morning to the Lady of the House.
Cesc – No! As talented as he is on the field, we need men not boys. The way he allowed his Spain teammates to manipulate him was divisive and disrespectful to Arsenal. The way he manipulated/was manipulated into his move showed a distinct lack of cahones, to use the Spanish vernacular, ethics, and principals. Now he wants to return because he wants to follow his current girlfriend like a little lost puppy. Sorry, growup and learn to be a man. As you sow so shall you reap. Thanks for the memories, but you’ve shown a real lack of leadership, maturity and respect. The club have moved on, so should you.
Morning all.
So close, but so far.
That is how i am feeling, but still thinking what a cracker of a game.
Movement on and off the ball.
That was the difference between the Utd game, and our worse performances this season.
If the guys can not replicate this for the next few games, then we truly do not deserve a top 4 finish.
Morning all..
What PV rumours Ts?
Hi CG.
It can be amazing how much growing up a man does when hey become a father.
I would take him back.
His tail will be planted firmly between his legs, and he will never make that mistake again.
As long as we also fill the positions that we truly are short in, i would grab him.
Back later. I’m sure someone will have fired a broadside at me before I return.
Hi CG,
May I also add faking hamstring injuries every January when needed the most… Just my opinion btw.
but he said he was injured during preseason, moved a week later and played 90 minutes and won the equivalent of community shield with Barca…
Rico… the Kondogbia link…. as Lee rightly pointed out due to his race and build 😮
Scott… if he will supplement his own move back to us like he did going to Barca. :-d
As I said last week, he took a pay cut assuming he will be paying next to nothing tax, but spain have increased the tax burden on the rich so he will be making a loss on his salary if he stays. plus he is not important enough at Barca to force an improved pay deal…
Morning Cg, I had a feeling a few fans would say that… Personally, I don’t think AW would want him back…
Ah yes, thanks Ts..
Bloody hell Ginge, I thought we we just talking about that on the old post….sharpen up Rico! Cava related breakfast? 😉
Morning All,
Very good post Rico ..Spot on all points..I think.
Very disappointed wenger held the Ox back and took the chance on Sagna, staying on the pitch.
What is it with pro footballers, that performance was way above, what we produced at fulham last week ..Goals could count at the end.
we only lost 3-1 to Munching, and were a damn sight better against them than Barca were. So, no to a Fab return. Wish Rosicky would have played more frequently earlier in the season. This guy can still influence the team in a big way, and educate Ramsey.Shame he didn’t slip that ball to Walcott instead of Podolski. Would have been 2-0.
must play this way every game
The buy back clause Rico? AW may be interested… AW did not do the same with Song as far as we are aware…
There’s no substitute for intelligence. I know this as I don’t have any.
I have voted yes to Cesc return, only if he says he has to come to Arsenal because of his Islington DNA and that we are the only club he will move for and,we then offer a derisory fee that we pay on the never never and he goes round the Nou Camp tilting all the pictures of there legends, and he puts a NB 52 shirt on when Barca win the league.
Eye 2 can vouch for dis…and dat if kneed bee!
😆 Lee, yes I am afraid I have to confess a drop or two went on my rice crispies….
There’s no substitute for intelligence. I know this as I don’t have any.
–
Moron is more intelligent than a genius, I know cause I am one.
The cravat wearing head of the square and compass club definitely has intelligence in abundance…
Thanks fred, I thought he might replace Sagna with jenks…
Had hoped the Ox would start, would rather seen Ramsey go off earlier than he did too and really push for the winner..
You get todays prize spanner for spotting the deliberate mistake 😉
I too wish that pass had gone to TW instead of Podolski and it was far too heavy for him too. He did alright, but so many forward passes went astray…
Ginge, my “tail between the legs” line means i really think the club will have the upper hand in negotiations.
Interesting situation.
Morning all,
I missed the game but got the just of it from the blogs. I’ve never had faith in Podolski as a striker. I still think his pace and positioning is poor and not strong enough to hold up play.
On Fabragas, I voted to have him back. He has the full range of passing, great vision and scores goals. Just with him means too many non tackling players: himself, Cazorla and Walcott.
I’ve never heard of Kondogbia before, his name sounds like a match up of Kone’, Drogba and N’Zogbia. Is he any good?
whats the prize, not another holiday in Bali??? oh well, I’ll just have to make time…
😉 spanner
Morning Brad. Podolski wasn’t that bad imho, just isn’t a lone striker, none of our players are…
“tail between the legs”- I totally agree there, but would he publicly state that and force a move…
Nasri wants to comeback, VP wanted to play for us so much yesterday he nearly went into our dressing room… He even ate our economy post match meal… No chucked the pizza to Dowd? 😀
Adebawhore would love Lee and SYG’s forgiveness… 😀
Song would like to convince Rico and Adam those GPS precision passes were not fluke…
Huntelaar wanted to play for us so much he left the field late to shake Aw’s hand when we played Schalke 04…
Big Tony wants to come back… the media can not sell a paper or a TV subscription without our name mentioned…. Jeez and they say you need trophies to be a successful club… 😛
Morning all
Agree wholeheartedly with the post, Rico. A very good summary. Of our season, I should say. Excellent.
A question. How does a team turn up yesterday and play so well and consistently throughout a high pressure game having played so abjectly against countless others? Norwich, Fulham etc etc. far more importantly, can this same bunch of players play as well over thee course of the next three games, in order to secure a top four cup?
As for Cesc, on his day he’s a class act but he ain’t no captain. I would take him back because he is a world class footballer, and we don’t have many of them, do we?
Well said Ginge, well said.
The grass is not necessarily greener on the other side, but the cash is 🙂
Plenty on the net were blasting the crap out of Wemger for “inviting”
RVP into the dressing room, only for Wenger to say he never spoke to the guy, and actually walked in to see him already in there talking to our guys.
Ts – Song will never prove that…
Thanks Wavy. That’s what irks, they played so well yesterday in places, committed, tackled, etc etc…
But why just once or twice a season….
My only gripe with RvP yesterday is:
Why did he take the penalty? He could have left it for someone else.
Hi Brad… howz the motherland?
Poldi was not bad… I will give him a solid 5.5 or 6 out of 10 for his performance… but he has to realise he can’t be want he thinks he wants to be…
Every manager he has worked with has told him he is not a striker even though the managers all said he was one of the best at getting into the box and finishing…
M. Laudrup was an average striker until Cruyff made him an attacking midfielder and he started scoring goals and was regarded the most complete player or at least one of the best.
VPursey said he thought he was not a striker but Aw told him to give it a go and he is now in under 3 years one of the top 5 strikers in football today…
Not all of us can be what we want to be… I wanted to be a BA pilot but even after passing the selection exams, my working class family could not fork out the 50k they wanted me to deposit so here I am… 😀
Evening rico/all
I’d get Cesc back, otherwise he will go to the chavs, milwall 🙂 or spuds & that would be bad
Substitutes, Jack Ox and Gervinho failed to change the game in any way, bringing only more apparent productivity to team. Taking a shoot who went off to Rosicky and a kick placed Cazorla, do not carry the danger of the United goal in the second half. Meanwhile, it seemed that every attack against them would be lethal. None was much thanks to Mertesacker and Koscielny mainly that had flawless performances. French was even my Man of the Match.
It is undeniable that Arteta and Ramsey playing together complement each other better than the partnership with Jack, who does not have the physical attributes to do a job so defensive in premier league. I still read a lot of hate for the Welshman, but he played the last 10 games was consistently good, they should stop coming with a preconceived opinion about the performance of certain players.
Szczesny, after a long and dark winter and a good shower bench, returned to play well and put back the ball with quality. Made a great point blank noteworthy.
Moral of the story – Our most secured a draw at home with a sweaty United already champion. The difference between the two teams is the biggest I’ve ever seen.
We Wigan, QPR and Newcastle ahead. The 9 points should guarantee us the next CL. If you do not win 9 points against a demoted one and it took almost 10 goals in his last two games, does not deserve to play in the Champions League.
Ts – Song will never prove that… not even if he bribes you? :O
My only gripe with RVP was why did he SCORE the penalty 🙂
Rico… when RVP was going to take the penalty I thought if he placed it onto Scez’s rhs then he was trying to miss… but the way he aimed the ball into the far corner of the net… was aimed at spiting us…
good post jm…
JM, i think the gulf is wide between the two sides, but i don’t think it would take much to get us level pegging, if that makes sense.
The differences are in such important areas on the field that, though few, they have a dramatic affect.
We should have won, and Utd played well.
It was a great game, so credit to both sides.
Ginge, i was thinking the same…..go to Szczesny right…pleeeeeeaaaaase.
Hey ts, mid twenties and perfect golfing weather so I’m stoked in the motherland.
I’m hoping Villa get relegated, I rate Benteke better than Remy and probably wouldn’t cost too much.
Nice write up Rico. We were good in patches yesterday and overall I would have said we deserved the points. The question has been posed repeatedly this morning, why haven’t we replicated these performances consistently over the course of the season? Unfortunately being up for the lesser teams in the league have been our Achilles heal for many a year!
3 games left, anything other than 9 points is failure.
hiya Scott – i thought United were all over the place for the first 35 minutes TBH
Hi GG, Maybe Arry would want him to help them in the C’ship next season 😉
Hi JM. Agree re Ches. Much better …
Oz, no game is perfect mate…hard marker lol.
Credit where it is due…our guys put so much pressure on them in that period that we made them look pretty average.
I loved it.
It was exciting and skilful.
It was abosrbing and entertaining.
Isn’t that what football is all about?
Replay starts now…bring it on!!
Oh, and how are you Oz??
We are copping some sensational weather here atm..hope it hangs around.
Man u is an efficient team period!
We are a wasteful team with so many experiments happening at the same time… the way AW plays his cards you will think he was 52 y.o but he is not?
JW could be world class if AW stops his lil agenda he has going on by trying to make him a number 10.
The little I know about football watching current players like Holtby, Mata to the great no.10 such as Ruud Guilit, Del Piero, DB10 and lothar Mathiaus… I do not believe JW will be a no.10.
Jack always wants the ball infront of him as he is not very comfortable with his back against the opponents goal.
He is best suited to MA08 role or how Schweinsteiger plays with a more physical and mobile DM playing ahead of him like Song did with him 3 years ago.
But the reason why he may not be used in that position curently is because he is not tactically sound yet or AW has refused to buy a DM though they are very hard to find sometimes…
Cesc back , in a heartbeat ! Not as captain though , we have needed his creativity and with our other options in midfield it could only make us stronger. However we should not blow our full war chest to get him, if he’s not required by barca then he’s not at the value they paid for him.
hey Scott – i am good mate, lost a few bob on the boys again last night but good entertainment value
Scott… but do you know this is the first game I have seen that Carrick has not been forced to lay from the back of united’s defence…
Evans(how he managed to not get a 2nd yellow card) and Rio had so much time in the 2nd half to play keep ball… that would not happen if OG12 or Tevez was playing against them…
I now wish we should have tried Ba…
Cesc would come cheap….they still owe us for him 🙂
and his lady loves London
Thanks Lewis. I’m not convinced 9 points will be enough, but then I don’t think we will get 9 any way….
Hi Potter, the question is have they finished paying for Cesc and Song yet? Are the board playing an iou service to the Barca board..
Evans was blessed, no doubt.
Rio was DAMN lucky not to give away a penalty.
Yes, we missed Giroud, imo.
I can’t say much on Carrick as i rarely watch anything but our games Ginge…highlight packages only.
Hard enough watching our lads….2 1/2 hours before the game last night, and 2 1/2 after.
I was ready for a kip at 2pm this afternoon…
All about mind set now Rico, not our strong point lets be honest
I don’t sleep much so I record lots of games and watch them at night… if I am not contributing to other blogs on other subjects other than football… 😉
Our record in the last 10 games suggest it isn’t too bad Oz.
Even when we have played badly, we have managed results.
If only we could do it over an entire season……we would be Utd!!!
Great minds Scott… 😉
Re barca owing us…
Scott we can’t do that because we do not have a squad… we have 15 or 16 good players …
We always struggle when we play 2 or 3 games a week, because most of the players can’t cope… it is unfair even on the millionaires to expect them to be at the races every 2 or 3 days in top condition…
You are keen then Ginge 🙂
Ginge….is there a certain confidence Ramsey is exuding of late?
Just watching the game….he has a look of intent on his face that wasn’t there until recently.
The other thing is the more physical approach…..the subtle , and smetimes NOT so subtle, fouls, just to let his opponent know he is around.
He is a different player.
Fools seldom differ mate haha.
Squad depth….agreed.
Our best 11 matches up pretty well.
The next 11 lets us down.
I agree he has learnt the art of being a central midfielder very quickly… his shoulder check on Nani was an excellent example…
Fools seldom differ mate haha. true 😀
Potter, we might need a new captain when TV leaves in the summer … Cesc 😉
If he can step up aother level, he will truly be the real deal.
At the moment, there are still the little errors.
Not as many as a few months back, but still a few too many.
Bloody good progress though.
Rico, why not Kozzer??
Cesc feeding Giroud….
Thoughts??
And i don’t mean the grocery bill….
Work in progress… but I think Arsenal fans are harsh on the none favourite players… Ramsey always played well away from home… he struggled at home because of the vibes until recently… but he is not considered Arsenal quality by lots of bloggers.
Gerv as frustrating as he is is times better away from home.
some players can never do wrong… considering how AA23 was treated by some sections of the fans…
I’m surprised, I felt for sure that someone would have had a good go at me for not wanting Sr. Fabregas back. Honestly, I can’t see him humbling himself to make the move. Certainly not after the shenanigans he went through to force the move back to Farcelona. I think the rumours are just that, more fanciful fabrications of the lazy press. What happens if his girlfriend takes a fancy to New York? Will he be off to join Titi at New York Red Bulls? Cesc returning is a very large pipe dream.
A lot of bloggers wouldn’t know if their arse was on fire 🙂
Nah, i can really understand fans frustrations, but my question always remains the same…..why blame the player?
If he is not good enough-whether it be now, or ever-then why blame him?
If he is doing his best, what more can you ask from him?
Every fan has a right to expect more from the club, especially when we know there is no money being spent, but if a man is giving his all, then why insult him?
I really do not understand the absolute hatred that plenty of fans have for our own guys.
But we can all dream, CG 🙂
Scott, I was tongue in cheek. I don’t want Fabregas anywhere near an Arsenal armband, he was rubbish then…
Ts, you are one of the worst for doing that ….
With regards to yeaterdays game. I think the team is finally starting to gel as a team. They all must realize that missing out on Champions League football would be a big loss for them and the club. Also, in previous seasons Arsene rarely sat any of his first eleven if they were fit to play. There has been far more squad rotation this season. If you haven’t been playing well, you sit out. That is a real change.
I think a number of our players are ‘playing for their supper’. If your not putting in the effort and being productive onfield you may find yourself on the transfer list or not have your contract renewed. If Sagna’s contract is typical, the club are playing hardball. No more Mr. Nice Guy with endless patience for Arsene.
😀 Rico…
I never say a human being is rubbish… or useless. I may say one or two are lazy but that is always in comparison to what other players playing in similar positions do at other clubs…
if the clueless Aw is telling them not to defend is another point that has to be debated… 😉
Scott – Yes, absolutely yes! Life is hard enough as it is for many of us. If any man, woman or child couldn’t have dreams it would be like living in George Orwell’s 1984. Some of us just have different dreams.
Splitting hairs ts…
Cg, agree, it is starting to gel imho, just needs 4 quality players and then the four who they replace can drops to the bench 😉
Then sell off those who are simply not good enough…
I get what you are saying but introducing 4 new players into a line-up will set us back even if the players are Isco, Vorm, Martinez and falcao…
They would need time to gel again… instead of replacing why not just compliment the squad … that way if we are playing Man u in a weeks time, then MA08, Sc19 and JW can rest the game before (Cardiff) and then give 110% against united… that is what fergie and mauren-ho do…
I don’t mean throw them all in together Ts, but a HM/DM whatever people like to call the position these days and a top draw striker are a must imho
tsgh – the table, like the season tells us we need quality additions mate – match winners – go to guys when you need that moment of inspiration – a TH or PV or dare i say a RVP. Robbie Pries is another that prings to mind, how many of todays players would of made that starting 11 era?
In the the immortal lyrics of Fats Domino – “Ain’t That a Shame”. Auld Whisky Nose is upset at the Arsenal fans treatment of Judas van Pusestrings on his return to the Emirtes.
http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/manchester-united-manager-sir-alex-3187067
Kozzer was a genuine one Rico….what do you think?
We really should have got a penalty…Ferdinand checked and stepped back into the path of Gibbs.
hi Oz,
Sc19 was way better than ljunberg or wiltord imho…
sagna is way better than Lauren….
I have youtube videos showing a 16 y.o Cesc out playing PV and Arteta out muscling PV4…
The difference between then and now is that they played together for long periods to gain an intuitive understanding if it makes sense…
For instance when we lost Anelka, TH14 was not expected to score like anelka staight away because there was DB10 to hold the torch…
In the last few years we lose cesc and nasri and even JW… MA08 had never played with Song nor Gerv played with Frimpong…
santos came in without ever playing with the BFG etc
What i am trying to say is that teams that stick together start winning… man u bought 4 players last summer but only PV plays constantly… because too many changes destabilize the squad…
we need players but I believe majority of fans underestimate the importance of a squad like (FC Bayern, swansea, Barca and BVB04) playing together for long periods of time bring to the table…
The refuge for the bully has always been to accuse others. I would ignore what Ferguson says as he is a vile, mean spirited and vindictive man. As one who was actually there (unfashionable I know), I have to say that after a bit of early booing, not many could actually be bothered. Van Persie carried with him the unmistakeable, grey, haggard and self-loathing air of someone who has turned toward the mercenary side of his nature. Seeing him canoodling with that seedy, lecherous scumbag Giggs was quite stomach-churning but, given their previous shared treatment of women, understandable The funniest chant of the day was when sections of the crowd sang “Robin, no means no”. For a man like him, with his new-found wealth, no never means no. I wish him him nothing but the very worst.
You make a good point Ginge.
How many points would we have accrued over the last 2-3 months if we had Falcao or Cavani?
Not major changes, just changes that will make a massive difference.
Onya Adam.
Well said, as always 🙂
no never means no- that has made my day lmfao!
As an unfashionable one, was the crowd truly as vocal as it sounded on the tele??
Cg, he’s moaning about Dowd booking so many of his players too.
Pff, Rvp could easily seen red for his challenge on Merts…
Not for me Scott, he’s playing too well…
Falcao looked lost against RM over the weekend scott 😉
You know me… I prefer Lewandowski and Cavani…
Adam, fans can be cruel can’t they, wasn’t he found not guilty or did the victim admit she lied?
Use either of those Ginge….where would we be?
The obvious aside…RVP…we are a better side than last season.
That is a glaring ommission though, admittedly.
Great comeback Rico….touché!!!
Opinions on players are always the talking point,
look at sunderland,
got rid of a nutty irishman,
replaced him with a nutty Italian.
Better team,same players…..do us a favour
Scott. The crowd was not that vociferous really. On occassion but not consistently. I imagine that the agenda of the TV companies was to accentuate the return of Van Persie and big-up the relationship between him and his once-adoring fans. They always go for the lowest common denominator, but then, they love to stir up the tribal instincts so they can be suitably outraged when they rise.
Yesterday was another side-show. The real struggle for the future of Arsenal will need to happen in the boardroom first rather than on the pitch.
Rico – Mr. Dowd’s performance also surprised me. It has been a very long time, if ever, since he’s handed out that many cards to ManUre. Maybe he was mixed up and thought ManUre were playing a home game? I think he was the biggest surprise of the whole game.
Rico. I think that the whole thing was rather conveniently hushed up in a flurry of Euros and legalese. I believe that his wife admitted that congress has taken place (that’s one way of putting it anyway). When he joined that Northern team and said how he listened to the little boy inside him I remember one wag commenting how it was a shame that he never listened to the young girl underneath him. Allegedly.
was just joking Scott re preferring 1, 40 million striker to another…
this is a better squad because players like the BFG and MA08 who can walk into most teams in the EPL have found their feet this side of christmas.
Even Og12 who cost a fraction of Dzeko’s fee is proving very useless albeit wasteful… the thing is that oG12 expeced to score 12 goals max and it seems like he has over achieved and is taking the phish… 😉
If RVP was playing for us yesterday… phew…
Would love to see Cesc back! Himself and Capoue in centre mid.. the things that could happen!
I HATE that red nosed shit head SAF.. A fantastic comment on the bookings they fairly received yesterday “We’ve got probably the best disciplinary record in the country. For us to have five players booked, I don’t think that is right.”
The reason they have the best disciplinary in the country is because refs are scared to death to book or send their players off.
fred. that’s funny.
Cg, I wonder if it would have been the same had Fergie not already won the PL
Adam. I just think it’s a shame fans have to scratch around in the gutter to goad others…
RvP doesn’t deserve our breath or word imho. I’d rather we just ignored him, that hurts more…
Cg… dowd apologised to all of the united players for issuing the card 😀
I mentioned yesterday that he was flattering to deceive because how he was able to sprint and award that free kick was beyond my wildest dream.
what Fergies referees do is award the freekicks that are near the centre circle to opponents and disallow almost all fouls in all important or dangerous areas of the field.
The only time Dowd sprinted was when man u were attacking us… otherwise he was always behind play…
Paul, they could have had 8 booked and one sent off yesterday….he really is a prick, that Fergie.
Adam, it really sounded like the crowd was booming, so the broadcasters obviously achieved their desired affect.
Yes, we need a grenade to be placed underbthe seats of certain board members, because then and only then will we be in a position to buy who we need.
It is painfully obvious to all bar those who make the decisions.
I also think it’s a shame that yesterday appeared to be the loudest the fans have been for a long while.
Suggests they can find their voice to show hatred towards the opposition yet when the players (not the manager/board) need their support, they are so often quiet….
Rico. You are wise beyond your tender years. I agree.
The only time I saw Dowd sprint was when he smelled some chips being fried.
Rico – Unless the Dowdie one writes a tell all book, which I truly doubt, we’ll never know. I don’t think would write one, nor do I think he could write one. Maybe Adam could be his ghost writer?
Rico, from my end…thousands of k’s away…the loudest noise i heard was most definitely when the game opened up and we were attacking towards the end.
The crowd sounded awesome.
My Life At The Buffet by Phil Dowd.
One of the best crowd chants was when Andy Goram had been diagnosed with a mild form of schizophrenia….”There’s only two Andy Gorams….”
Very funny!
We sure could do with two like those two Esp, add a striker, defender and keeper and we’d have had a good TW in the summer….
I’m talking about other games really Scott, yesterday I thought the support for our boys was fantastic.
Part of me thinks that is funny Lee, however, the other side…. 😉
Cg… adam ghost wrote the ‘The Secret Teachings of All Ages’ before he was born… his legend and opinions are highly valued by the elite…
Adam – An interesting title, but I think Dowd is more a quantity man than a quality man. Like the man himself, it would be very hard to make it/him interesting. How about Fine Wines with Fergie?
TS. Don’t forget the hardness of my tackle, which is legendary.
How about “” The Pig and Whistle “”
My Life At The Buffet by Phil Dowd.
foreword… how one man climbed from the greasy pits of the chip shop and combined his love for double fried sports bars to become the rent boy of the FA…
coming to a pub near you…
You can be cruel Rico…
Another chant that tickled me was when Southend played Brighton, the Southend fans were singing… “Our pier is longer than yours!” 😆
😀 Adam that was just a best seller on 6 continents for 6 months… the martians didn’t understand how the pages were well written…
Afternoon,
Cesc…. Not in a million years horrible little judas traitor and I don’t care how good he is, when you throw your toys out the cot like he did to agitate a move back to his beloved Barca he can now go fk himself…!.
As for yesterday, as in most games still far to predictable and one dimensional… we lacked width as usual and amazing that in 90 seconds we score by getting in behind them with a back inside the full back yet Theo didn’t really look to do it for the remaining 88 1/2 mins…? Why didn’t the midfileders tell him where to run and to stop dropping off and standing still when we had the ball. Why doesn’t one of the other defenders tell Sagna to defend and stop going forward when there no one to cross to in any case.
We totally lost tempo when Rosicky went off and also Carrick had more time when Ramsey was taken off.
Great effort great commitment which has been lacking more often than not only thing lacking yesterday was a few extra quality players and especially in the final 1/3……!
Oh and why is no one going on about the Rio foul on Gibbs which was a penalty… played the man not the ball yet the media seem to as usual completely ignore it but would rather highlight Sagna being lucky to stay on the pitch ( he should of been sent off )
I was Fergie’s Fellatalist by Mike Riley?
Afternoon all, yes, Cesc all day long even if he did fake a broken leg eh tsgh, that still cracks me up.
The best sledge of all time, though not a football one.
I cannot remember his name, but 10-12 years ago, South Africa had a rather chubby spin bowler.
Between balls, Shane Warne asked him “why are you so fat” to which he very promptly replied “every time i f**k your wife, she gives me a cookie”!!!!
I still laugh now.
Wath, my 12.19 was 30 seconds after watching it on replay.
Should have been a penalty.
W.A.T.H – I agree totally. However, in order not to shock the more sensative of our fellow Housers, Senor Fabregas should be urged to go forth and propagate unilatterally.
Hi Wath. I am surprised it took you so long to comment on Cesc 😉
Lee, only sometimes..
Off out for a walk now. laters..
Hi Micko…
that was for you… the injury bit 😀
Couldn’t be arsed moving my fingers to waste my time on him Rico…. 😉
He ain’t what we need either we need a spine he ain’t got one…!
CG, top draw mate I’m far to obvious in my expressions of dislike…!
rico, 9 points maybe not enought but we haven’t any more for win.
Well I’m off, I need my beauty sleep. Alas, I never was nor never will be an Adonis, blonde or otherwise. Till tomorrow fellow Housers.
Night CG!
Wenger: ‘The game had quality and intensity’
Dear Arsenal supporter,
Sunday’s game had quality and a lot of intensity.
We controlled the first half and should have been ahead at half-time. Conceding the penalty made a difference to our approach because we had to gamble more and try and get the second goal, and that left us open to counter-attacks.
I can only praise my players for their effort and the desire they put in. If they keep it going like that I’m sure we will finish in the top four. There is no room for dropping points but that’s the same for our rivals.
I was asked whether the guard of honour provoked us into making a fast start, but it was more down to our mental preparation. Believe me, if a guard of honour helped we would have one every week!
I thought the defence played well, although Bacary is obviously disappointed with his part in the penalty. He gives absolutely everything in every game and it can happen that you make a bad pass.
Unfortunately, he panicked a little bit and tried to repair the damage too quickly, and slid in to try and win the ball. He had more time than he thought but it’s one of those things. Bacary has saved us so many times in the past.
A lot of attention was on Robin van Persie and he took his penalty well. He was in our dressing room after the game but that’s normal – we showed respect before the game with a guard of honour and there was respect afterwards too.
During the 90 minutes our defenders made life difficult for Robin because we played with great commitment. But after the game the players talk to each other – they played together for years so you expect that.
Reeled me in far too easily tsgh.
JM, we are Arsenal, we don’t do 9 points, it’s written in our dna, it’s going right down to the wire.
Lee, did you know that two people in every one is a schizophrenic or so they say.
I did hear that Micko…how you doing mate?
Groundhog summer again or we going to splash the cash….?
We are going to spend so much money this summer it will rock the world of soccer. Honest.
Adam, you are a cad!
Fergie once again showed how to put the brakes on us,
systematic fouling,
then the nob,
effing moans about bookings.
Lee. You are the only man from whom I could accept a slur like that. 🙂
Lee, finish outside the top 4 and its gonna be a very long long summer, sadly our board would rather swim in it than splash it.
Gunnerdna called us Average FC the other day, there’s only one way to change that, like your always saying time we starting acting like a big club, just hope we haven’t left it too late, Europa won’t attract the players we need.
Micko. Please, let us not quote Gdna in any sensible discussion. He is a wind-up merchant. Nothing less and absolutely nothing more. We can all see what the club has become, it’s what happens next that matters. For all the board’s lack of ambition, there might need to be a consequence and that could herald change.
I know Adam, but it did make me laugh, we’re not here for a long time but here for a good time afterall.
3 games left to play, winning when it matters is all I care about now and like you say what happens next very much depends on that.
We can/could finish third….amazing considering how average we’ve been!
Evening all.
Sorry, came back from my walk and got carried away in the garden…
I’ll sleep well tonight 😛
Hi Rico. I have been watching 2 masters of destruction destroy my garden prior to rebuilding it.
Have to start calling you the Germinator rico.
Hi Adam – it will all be worth it 😉
I like that Micko 🙂
3.34 good post Adam, we can but hope – the more i hear from Arsene though the less i am expecting in the summer
Btw, did anyone find out if wath voted yes or no, he didn’t actually say !
Over and out.
I’ve always said that I would love to have Cesc prowling outside the box waiting for the perfect moment to release a chipped pass to a running forward.
Those passes haven’t existed in the EPL since he left.
RVP was disappointing with the boos,
Are footballers really delusional or are the just really cut out from reality ?
Doesn’t he realized that gunners are hurt simply because he didn’t show loyalty to Wenger and Arsenal when they needed him to ?
Wenger could have sold him like 4 years ago when he had anger issues and persistent injuries.
Even his beloved new manager that he is not hesitating to hug (Fergie) would have sold him if his performance should drop for one season or has a long term injury for two years in a role ( he should ask Van Nisteroy).
Why was he disappointing , I don’t understand.
He is got the PL medal , 200k in the bank every week and the price of that is loosing the only fans that could have truly created a place in their heart for him for life (Arsenal fans)
When his contract runs out in Manure utd, the manure fans are not going to write his name in their hearts, they would have found another star to adore.
He (RVP) will win more trophies in Manure utd but the price is he will never find a club that will love him for life (maybe Hamburg )
Every fan knows that with the number of goals we have scored this season if we had added RVP’s goals to it we will be winning the league now and Man utd will be fighting qualifications for Champ league or something.
For that Arsenal fans will always be called a traitor and will ever be hated.
See you Micko. I think we know what Wath’s vote was 😉
**For that Arsenal fans will always call RVP a traitor and he will ever be hated.**
Will, some of Cesc’s passes were even better than Songs 😉
SD, he won’t get many more medals……
🙂
Feeling your passion Rico
Rico, I don’t even mean the long ones. I mean the passes that used to help us beat teams who consistently parked the bus and had 8 to 10 defenders in or around the box. These days, whenever we have a team pressed back we seem to lack the ability to break them down. Cesc had the ability to measure those chipped passes over the top.and we got many goals from them.
I will like Fabregas back but mind you, Man shitty might give him an offer he can’t refuse.
If we had played consistently this season with the tempo we did yesterday and a top striker, we could have won the league. The foundation have being laid for next season. What we just need is a few additions and we are ready to go.
B/w good post rico
Cesc has said, its Barca or Arsenal…. Lets see shall we 😉
Will, I utterly get what you are saying… I’d rather another came in and made those passes….
But, if AW brings him back, I wouldn’t be disappointed….
ditto rico at 7:04
Hi emma – thanks re the post. I seriously believe we aren’t that far away…
£70 M could sort it 😉
Hope we spend it wisely in the summer 😉
You can bet AW will emma 😉
I hope that £70 million is set as a minimum, and anything we get from sales is added to that total…
Got a good feeling about the summer. There needs to be competition for places. We are looking defensively solid. We ‘ve being solid defensively bar 1 error post spurs at the back. keepers(Fab and Sz) are feeling confident that they are well protected. We might not see a keeper coming in the summer cause Sz looks assured, his kicking and distribution has improved. With Fab providing competition for the no1 spot he can only get better
But Fabianski is off emma, his contract is up.. Can’t see him staying either, not when he wants to be Poland’s number one keeper.
Lets see what happens in the summer. He was pretty good before the injury. He might get a contract renewal. Offski to watch the villa match.
Goodnight everyone
you are funny Rico 🙂
of course the £70mil will include the money from the sale of fringe players and maybe one or two big money from the 1st team player sale.
You should know arsenal FC trend of running the club by now.
Enjoy footie emma. You know AW won’t leave it this late to renew a players contract. he’s gone… As is Mannone…
I’m glad you see through my naughtiness SD 😉
I too am off for the day…
Go steady all, have a good one…
’til tomorrow..
Night all….
Micko. Please, let us not quote Gdna in any sensible discussion. He is a wind-up merchant. Nothing less and absolutely nothing more. Hahahaaaaaaaa at least I have ambition, who is this fool anyway?
Dna, unfortunately i, and it appears others, can ot take you seriously as you never offer any ways or alternatives to improve the club.
I have asked you plenty of times to give us some improvements, but all you ever say is we are shit and Wenger must go…..my please have fallen on deaf ears on every occasion.
If you ever actually told us which players you would like brought in and even a manager who may realistically come to Arsenal and improve us, then possibly you would be treated more seriously.
Challenge offered.
Will you accept?
And my pleas, as well 🙂
Scott, the silence is deafening….
I am gobsmacked Micko had to ask which way I voted…………..
I thought it was way obvious I would welcome the little turd back with open arms…………!
Off to my pit, night all and drive save AK…!
I am the fool to whom you refer. Now what were you going to say that could possibly have any meaning or depth other than your usual whinings and stupidity? The only ambition you have is to get a response. You have absolutely nothing else to say, nothing. Come on prove me wrong- say something and let’s see who the real fool is. Apart from Wenger Out, your usual crass hahahahahah or the tedious drivel that you spout from across the Atlantic.
Plonker.
Morning all…
Morning Rico.
Morning Adam.
I’m off out now for the morning, the new post will go up 9.40 ish..
Catch up a little later…
Morning plonkers….
Morning Mr Lee.
Rumours absolutely flying around that PSG reckon they will get Wenger for next season!!
Morning guys and gals.
Are you writing at the moment Adam? Or chillin’ like a villain? This is going to be the biggest summer AFC and dear old Arsene have had for ages….really concerned how it pans out!
Those rumours are flying around as we’ve not got our captain leaving….yet that is!
Hi Lee, Scott. I have a few days respite Lee and am having the small garden landscaped although that does sound grander than is actually the reality.
Que sera sera re Arsenal.
Haha Lee.
Adam, i am convinced that without the ongoing soap opera that is the rumour mill of our beloved Arsenal, there would be thousands upon thousands of people all over the world with nothing to do all day 🙂
Scott. That sounds heavenly. I have a first class honours degree in relaxing, although Mrs Adam has another phrase to cover it. 🙂
If I had Lee’s work ethic I could have been rich. 🙂
Mrs L never allows me to “look” comfortable…I love that feeling of being spot welded to the sofa!
Yes, bugger this working for a living, i say!
My first book was entitled How To Retire Before You Get A Job. It never sold though.
Wenger to PSG? Well we always sell our best player every season, for load a muneee. This year it will be the manager! He has one year left on his contract so he will attract a transfer fee. I would think that is an irresistable situation for the board. They have to cash in now or he will walk for free this time next year!
What about that for the truth of this seasons summer transfer action. Sell the manager!?
Wavy. I would rather sell Kroenke myself and get Jabba in.
Here, here. The syrup is useless. Long live the Jabba! Wenger IN!
What’s the alternative – ‘arry the spiv or someone of his ilk? Those who want Wenger to go, I would say this, “be very careful for what you wish for, you may not get what you think is abetter deal! The grass is never greener on the other side. Etc etc
Sell Stan….i would pay his airfare 🙂
