Wenger has a lazy day off….. Another wasted transfer window..?

Wenger doing his bit on deadline day… Don’t get to excited… Wenger is in Rome to ref a charity game…. Oh how active of you Arsene……

Well after watching us huff and puff and fail to blow Leicester away yesterday it seems pretty obvious to everyone apart from Arsene of course that we are still a few players short of having a really good competitive team/squad.

We have a striker starting games who to be fair to him is getting tons of criticism but in all honesty he should not be playing so why is the manager not getting moaned at for picking someone who clearly at the moment isn’t good enough to lead the line for Arsenal. Why are we as usual discussing the same old things….

Would Sanogo get in the starting line up at Man City, Chelsea or Liverpool…? No he wouldn’t so why is a club of Arsenal’s stature starting with him up front…?

Why do we still not have a defensive midfielder signed up and then there’s the centre back scenario, yes the very position Arsene said would be filled if Thomas Vermaelen left…. Didn’t he know TV was leaving in May…? Why waituntil deadline day to try and replace him… Should of been done months ago.

The team yesterday lacked pace up front, we played lovely tippy tappy football in front of the Leicester defence but there was as usual very little end product.

Fans are crying out for a new striker but it seems that we have failed yet again ( so far ) to buy the defender we need and the central midfielder we have needed for years…! Wenger bought well at the start of the transfer window but will this be yet another transfer window we will look back on and think that we have failed yet again to address what we really need…?

Until 11:01pm tonight we won’t know that answer but if as it seems we get no one else in I think it’s going to be a long hard season and Arsene, after all the bravado about buying early and having funds, is going to be under a lot of pressure to deliver.

It’s a shame the board and the club are not far more pro-active in making sure the fans get the players the club should be buying when they are so quick and active to put up ticket prices and tell us how well run they are…!

Lets hope for some good news later today…… I’m not very confident…!

    Good read Wath.

Totally agree re Sanogo, but he’s French so he starts!! Absolute joke and how Campbell isn’t getting the nod ahead of him beggars belief, he has more about him and he can play.

If there is a footballer inside of Sanogo, the longer he plays and plays badly, he’ll lose any confidence he may have which I suspect isn’t much.

Great start to the summer, but after that it’s gone down hill rapidly.

Will we sign 3 players today – I doubt it too….

    The hammer blow…

Arsenal very unlikely to sign anyone before deadline. Barring late surprise & a couple of squad exits, #AFC business is done #bbcdeadlineday

  3. rico says:

Wenger being in Italy speaks volumes, what a stupid stupid thing to be doing on DD.

Unless he’s leaving everything to Ivan of course, one can only hope.

Yesterday was embarrassing, we were very very average….

  4. Woody says:

It’s amazing how we let Vermaelen go without a replacement lined up!!! fucking amazing!

Also amazing how we will only signs players who improve the squad and they aren’t out there, yet teams with better squads than ours can find players to buy…

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  5. potter says:

Looks like the Miguel to Norwich deal is going through , that’s another £1.5 million in the bin and another squad p[layer out of the door. Centre backs Mert , Kos , Monreal at a push but he’s already subbing for Gibbs , Debuchy maybe ,but does that mean Bellerin at right back ? Chambers hopefully not getting burnt out . Sad , parlous , infathomable. Don’t know , don’t understand , baffled.

  6. AndrewH says:

Never thought I’d say it, but Man Utd deserve to finish 4th above us.
They acted at beginning of window, in middle and a surprise early on deadline day. Time yet but any decisive action by us starting to look desperate.

  7. Woody says:

I can’t even face reading today’s post – I’m too depressed and I have a feeling it would only make me feel worse.

So Thursday night football is we’re lucky next year?

I see us in a battle with Spuds and Everton for that much uncoverted 5th place! Think I’d rather do a United and get away with 7th to avoid that!

  8. Shubham says:

I am not confident either…My expectation for the season is slowly ebbing away. The early signings made had got my hopes high but seeing our performances and the injury list, I don’t see how we’ll compete through the marathon season. 4th place trophy will elude us this time. Wenger/Board has caused immense grief to the loyal fans around the world..unthinkable obstinacy and lack of planning.

  9. rogerbij says:

    This is dire…

Are there any strikers left worth buying?
Is any DM of note on the cards?
Can we at least buy a warm body to cover defence?

I hate the last day every time. When I leave my work till the last day its always because I didnt manage my job properly. Same case leaving transfers to deadline day. Im going to run away for at least a few hours to save my sanity.

  10. tsgh says:

Afternoon Rico and all, good read.Miracles do happen. RvP coming back?lol
    Keep the faith…

Syg are you going me as usual in the last 3 hours?

  11. southyorkshiregunner says:

The answer’s are obvious for 90% of Arsenal supporters to see.

Yesterday his darling French poodle failed to hit the net – again. Yet he will try, try and try to ram him down the throats of the faithful.

@Geoff on twitter said yesterday – “You’re not all fucking experts – let’s get behind the lad…”

He has a point – but Like we did with Denilson, Eboue, Almunia, Diaby etc?

A person who knows football knows what we lack.
Up top – how that useless wanker gets the nod over Podolski and Campbell is anyone’s guess. They both must be shaking their heads in disgust.

NO PREMIER LEAGUE TEAM WOULD WANT SANOGO IN THEIR FIRST ELEVEN -.NONE.
Then why are we pissing about with him.?

yesterday reminded me of the League Cup final where he played is other French Poodle Diaby instead of the person he paid a record transfer fee for and who ended up saving our season. Why?
Because he wanted to try and prove a point to everyone. STUBBORN, DELUDED

Sanogo is not the problem. Arsene Wenger is the problem.

  12. Nickie says:

Thank you Arsene Wenger. Where are all the Wenger buddies today? There will be some excuse that what Wenger has done is correct.

  13. charlesmila says:

Wenger is a joker, and a joker will he remain.
jokers never win because they don’t take things serious.

  14. rogerbij says:

I love 80% of Arsene Wenger, but that other 20% drives me facken berserk. The inability to accept the obvious and fix it.

Chelsea, well played in the window, players needed were bought in early, when Torres went out they struck immediately to bring in Remy. No messing about. There is no reason we couldnt have conducted our business like that too.

  15. tsgh says:

Falcao is 28-ish on paper. Which means Yanited or Citywill be paying £55m with NO sell-on potential and will be paying a 32 y/o striker £300+ a week. amazing.

Stan was no where hear Europe when Ozil was signed a years ago… why is he here when his Rams are not in London? hmmm

  16. TONYBEE (@TBINJ) says:

Wenger would not be buying he Does not listen A 21yrs old Inexperienced striker to lead our likes#joke

  17. southyorkshiregunner says:

Maybe Joel and Podolski don’t let Wenger chase them around the showers in their fckng speedo’s like Sanogo and Diaby do ……?

There is something fckng very unholy about all this ……..

  18. Luznic says:

straight post shows the frustration, but I thought people said Kroenke was at the game yesterday? if he was then he is either collecting money which he doesn’t need to be present for or he is spending some which he needs to monitor, I can’t watch mediocre football anymore I am tired

  19. rellends says:

incredibly, we have managed to have a reasonably successful transfer window but the great dictator has still managed to fuck it up. we’re one injury away from monreal being used as a centre half which will be disastrous as he’ll be expected to fill in for kieran gibbs at left back for most of the season because gibbs will be injured. we could have got remy for £10m but il duce dithered over that once again. never mind as we’ve got sanogo. i never expected us to get falcao so it came as now shock to me when we pulled out of that and now we’re interested in getting another attacking midfielder from italy who would make a midget look like a giant. we have needed a defensive midfielder for 10 years and a striker for at least 3 years, and what does our manager do on deadline day? go to rome for an audience with the fucking pope. i hope the pope has got all his special powers fully working because we are going to need divine intervention to get us anywhere near the premiership this year. it’s an abysmal state of affairs.

  20. Nickie says:

That’s the wrong mentality Ts, right now Falcao is world class. He is what Arsenal need. Sell on value? you sound like Wenger.

  21. Woody says:

If the club say – we are a big club going for the league then they should act like it.

If they can’t do that then they should at least say, we are not in the top bracket anymore due to the money men who have come in to football.

I can’t bear this pretend we’re going for the league yet don’t show it.

I understand we have to talk it up for the players etc,but come on….

  22. Yiannis says:

I am trying to understand Wenger’s planned trip to referee a charity match in Italy on transfer deadline day. Is this what he meant when he said that he will be alert till the last minute? Or has he decided to openly show the fans how much he values them. Everybody buys but Arsenal, as if they are the most complete team are nowhere to be seen today. Pure disrespect to the fans…

  23. Gunnerdna says:

Ts, with that type of mentality we won’t win anything, AW doesn’t want any player at the club who earns more than him.

  24. rogerbij says:

TSGH 1:05, thats the best news Ive heard all day (Reus for podo+20m).
I dont even care if you made that up. I also dont care that it not exactly in the positions we actually need!

  25. Federico says:

Southyorkshire – If we only just signed those players above, Wenger would be lynched before today. Most of those players, bar Sanchez are replacements. Still no replacement for Vermaelen, so very light at the back. Sanogo has no business being considered at all.

  26. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Yiannis says:
    September 1, 2014 at 1:07 pm

Maybe he’s nipping over to seal Tevez and Pogba moving to the Emirates …… or maybe he just doesn’t want any competition for any of his “boys”

  27. baccacarvalho says:

Everyone stop worrying we have super callum chambers he can play cd rb dm and striker!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he replaced vermalen and kallstrom=ha wenger also said he will only buy quality but quality doesnt come cheap Falcao=quality=big bucks but man u get him ffs how hard it is to improve on giroud flamini and artheta 2 positions everyone is cryin out for new players in for a very long time same story as last year not addressing the main issues

  28. Federico says:

I don’t understand Wenger. We are always short as a squad and never enough quality to sustain an assault on the Premier League title let alone the CL which is what we should be doing every year. This year, there aren’t any excuses, we had money. Anyone regretting the Wenger contract extension?

  29. potter says:

If the Reus deal is true then I can’t blame Podolski for agreeing to it. To sit on the bench yesterday whilst Sanogo struggled and left the pitch welling up as he went . I would want out too. Just as I think Campbell probably would take any deal he can . most probably the Benfica rumour would have legs as well.

  30. nick farrer says:

This crap has been repeating itself for yrs now how this cnut keeps his job is beyond me he must have pictures of kronke abusing kids cos this is just farcicle !!

  31. Woody says:

I wish I could just switch off from all this bullshit.

More and more I wish I never got in to football!! I can handle notwinning every year, that’s all part of being a fan. But I can’t bear the whole transfer stuff, it’s just too much to bear.

Thing is we will get to November have a load of injuries and suspensions and will get fucked in the ass by just about every club in the league.

    We never learn…

How many injuries have we had so far?

Walcott, Gibbs, Arteta, Giroud, Koscielny, OX

    Oh and 1 suspension…

    And we’re 4 games in!!!!!!!

    We are totally fucked

  32. Gunnerdna says:

    Majid Sultan ‏@MajidS97 10m
Lest we forget Wenger REJECTED Fabregas because we had Mesut, but he plays him wide?? If we were going to do that we should have got him!

  33. Woody says:

DNS, I actually checked out Ozils pass map from yesterday and while he starts on the left, he made as many passes on the right and in the middle.

I think the three behind the main striker all interchange – in theory to make it harder to mark.

  34. tomstoned says:

i get the ‘rage*regarding the transfer window….still my main concern is far more important

our play is piss poor…i havent seen such poor performances from an Arsenal side in ages…and it does not come down to one single player, as a team we’re not loking good at all…

regarding the transfer window…its not rocket science really,we are NOT changing under that american weasel…its business,business,busines..and we’re only in it to bring that sick american owner some hard earned cash…and thats never ever gonna change…..

    ambition…come on get over it..

  35. frednerk says:

    Like this,
The mancs have announced that Boyd from hull has just signed not Falcao…….yes they do have the same hairstyle.

  36. tsgh says:

The gap between fans expectations and the club’s is gulf apart… the lies to get regular folks hard earned cash is well…criminal imo.
Maybe a bid/enquiry was made for Falcao but the usual denominator was a stumbling block…
Yanited telling the world Rojo is awaiting work permit when rumours according to those itk is that they are having issues with 3rd party ownership…
Falcao to yanited was always on the cards;the delay was only due to falcao initially expected Perez to come for him…
Still time for some surprises I hope…

  37. Micko says:

    Afternoon all,

Some-one should tell Arsene we’re the fcuking charity case he should be working on today of all days, not some la de la’s in Italy or are you on a wind up wath !

    I really can’t be arsed !

  38. . . . and gawd bless Dennis Bergkamp says:

Long time reader first time poster.

I’m going to reserve judgement until 11.01pm but i’m not hopeful to be honest. However, before anyone else lambasts Wenger for being away look at this:

    http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/arsenals-arsene-wenger-being-in-rome-could-be-good-news-for-gooners-tweets/?

    Just saying.

Also, saw a funny comment on another blog along the lines of ‘with the signing of Falcao Manure have replaced Van Persie before we did’. Just trying to lighten the mood a little.

    Excellent site by the way.

  39. rico says:

and gawd bless Dennis Bergkamp – thanks, that funny line was on SS’s this morning, apparently one of the county cricketers tweeted it this morning. A gooner obviously…

  40. Nickie says:

You’ve got to laugh really, what did we honestly expect? Wasn’t we fed the same bullshit last year? “money to spend” etc Wenger and the board have completely mugged the fans off

  41. Woody says:

I don’t think Arsene being in Italy has anything to do with deadline day.

At the end of the day it’s all done on the phone/fax anyway.

He was in Brazil when we signed Sanchez, so don’t read anything in to that people.

He will be available if and when he’s needed I’m sure.

I’ve actually gone from wanting 3 players, to just desperately hoping we get a centre back

  42. southyorkshiregunner says:

The Defoe thing was mentioned early doors Bondex …… He was offered to Arsenal but only Ian Wright wanted us to sign him …..

  43. emma says:

Wenger and his cronies have completely mugged off the fans again. Signed Alexis and got the fans expectation sky high only to bring it down low. We did not address our problematic areas(CB, CDM and striker). Another season of trying to scrab into fourth place again and we have money sitting in the vault to improve the squad. So disappointed right now 🙁

  44. rockyrocastle07 says:

You know what… If nothing else, I’d take Defoe right now. The boy knows how to score. He has to be one of the most clinical strikers out there. Alright, he’s a helmet. But he doesn’t minge about, passing the ball one way across the 18 yard line, then the other, then try a (futile) fancy little flick to no-one. He gets hit, he leathers the fuck out of it. That’s what we need.

  45. Bob john says:

I’m afraid the sh!t is really gonna hit the fan at the City game. After we pick up another couple of injuries in the internationals I can’t wait to see our line up!

  46. tsgh says:

Vadim Vasilyev -‘ the player hasn’t agreed to join Man Utd yet. If arsenal or any other club match terms they can talk to Falcao’

  47. rockyrocastle07 says:

Tell me about it Bob. I seriously can’t believe he’s gone to ref a charity game. It can’t be true.

  48. Woody says:

Haha SYG – I detest the bloke.

I’ve never heard so much shit come out of one persons mouth. He talks bollocks every Saturday yet Sky continue to employ him.

He’s one reason I’ve given up watching Soccer Saturday. I genuinely feel blessed to have season ticket, so I don’t have to listen to the cunt

P.S – excuse my vile language today. I’m normally much better at articulating myself, but today I can’t be fucked as I’m angry.

  49. Wavy says:

Defoe fits the profile…….another 5ft 0 forward. That’s plan a float high balls in to Defoe, who will climb like a salmon and score us countless headed winners. Yeh, right!
    FFS!
This is dereliction of duty and gross incompetence. The club have the ability to address the immediate problems, for all to see in the last 3 league games, but they choose to ignore them! Why?
FFS why can they not act?

  50. rockyrocastle07 says:

Rico…. Can we please have a 24 hour “C-word” amnesty? Never has the word been needed more to express feelings about todays events so far, and no doubt to come…

  51. emma says:

At this rate it will be advisable to keep Miguel Ignasi. He might come in handy when we have defensive crisis 🙁

  52. Woody says:

Think my anger may have got my last comment binned!!

See what you do Arsenal!!! I can’t even have a conversation any more…you literally ruin my life!

  53. tsgh says:

I agree Emma- I thinkMiquel can be cover for LB and RB in the CoC at least…

Interesting how Hayden was last week used as a RW for the reserves… I thought he was our future at CDM?

  54. southyorkshiregunner says:

Dan Crowley is the only future player I can see from the reserves. Even then, there’s a load of bodies in front of him….

  55. Woody says:

So, I’ve been trying to cheer myself up.

Just to make you feel better for about .5 seconds – Arsenal have won 2 trophies since United last won a game a competitive football!

  56. tsgh says:

    some comedy… 🙂

Van Gaal: “Shaw needs to work harder on his fitness”
Hodgson: “Yes we said similar during the World Cup”
LVG: “Roy Hodgson cannot judge him”

  57. tsgh says:

    Ivan- the corporate spin merchant is clearly doing a stellar job for his boss .He surely isn’t hibernating;

I wonder how he went from ” we have work to do” to going missing after the annual ‘subs’ came in… 😉

  58. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Twitter is dead Ginge.

All there is are depressive Gooners and other fans taking the piss out of us…..

According to a LFC supporter we have triggered the release clause of KEVIN VOLLAND …. exactly

  59. rico says:

1.50 Rocky. Funny enough, I have been talking to Wath about that, maybe tomorrow we will, IF we sign nobody today…

Then I’ll go out for the day… 😉

  60. frednerk says:

Arsène Wenger believes richer clubs’ fears about being penalised for breaching financial fair play rules have put Arsenal in a stronger position to compete for the world’s best players,

    Yer.. Alright arsene.

  61. southyorkshiregunner says:

I’d rather have a dose of crabs than have Song back, Ginge.
We weed out the shite and then he installs some more …

Flamini and Sanogo aren’t good enough….

These are the Parisian dog turds as part of the Smoked Salmon and Bulluga Caviar buffet… Both French and both shit

  62. southyorkshiregunner says:

He’s a 1 cap German international, Wavy who plays for Hoffenhiem …. personally I think it’s bollocks

  63. rellends says:

jesus christ. kevin “i’ve set the bundesliga on fire for the last few years” volland. what the fuck do our scouts do? give me an hour on football manager this afternoon and i will have 10 realistic targets. seriously, at this stage, i would be happy to get defoe in through the door.

  64. southyorkshiregunner says:

Arsenal push to close deal for Real Madrid fullback Alvaro Arbeloa.

No idea if this has any legs?.

  65. tsgh says:

lol Syg. yesterday when Kosser was injured and we played 4 or so minutes with 10 men… a guy next to me said- ” I can’t believe a year ago when Flamini came on and did that sliding tackle at whl I was jubilant”. As a DM he failed to cover and Monreal had to tuck in and Ozil dropped back slightly… Per screamed at him but he was oblivious… 🙂

You have to make concession for Gervinho at least…

  66. rockyrocastle07 says:

Rellends. I know. It can’t be rocket science. Why are players not falling over themselves to join us these days? People bang on about “wenger was the reason I signed”. Really? Why?

  67. George says:

Relax people, everyone knows the board is not interested in competing, they want cash for profits.

The people upstairs are excellent business men who don’t give a sh!t about Fans and football.

As for Wenger’s persistence with Sanogo, it really is unfair on the lad, who is clearly not ready and out of his depth. Its admirable how the boss in the past stuck by players like ramsey, but we can ill afford to given our rivals are getting the players we can afford but don’t even try to sign.

Its going to be an interesting end to the transfer window.

There will be mutiny if we sign no one , sell a few players who never got a look in and are battered by man city and dortmund.

  68. southyorkshiregunner says:

If the fans know this George, then so do the players.

The signing of Ozil lifted everyone, as did the signing of Arshavin.

It’s a pity Wenger prefers to play them out of position.

  69. tsgh says:

True George- Neither Wenger or the board are under any illusion that this team could even fluke a title, 4th is enough and that’s all they need to ensure. Why would they spend the vast sums required to actually compete when success isn’t guaranteed and there is no past data to show winning titles actually makes clubs financially successfully in the short term ?

Personally, my biggest problem with the squad is not the signings or the result yesterday. My biggest concern is a manager with 30 plus years playing 4-1-4-1 without at least 1 natural winger.

The teams that have played 4-1-4-1 like Fc Hollywood and BVb have Robben and Ribery on the wings or Kevin Groskreutz and PE Aubegang/Reus.

We use 4-1-4-1 in several games last season and got hammered apart from Naples at home and BVB where TR07 was available…

  70. rellends says:

not that i believe the rumours about volland anyway but his stats aren’t that impressive. if he was any good then munich would’ve bought him by now or dortmund would be lining up a deal for him today. he’s not what we need anyway. all the good will over the summer has gone because, if anything, wenger has got more powerful. vermaelen not replaced even though we were told if he went we’d be getting someone in. does il duce actually believe that our 2 centre halves will stay fit/not get suspended at some point this season? i’m not including chamber because he’ll be knackered/injured anyway by christmas. this is a criminal dereliction of duty.

  71. Inusa Abdullahi says:

Arsenal clearly needs a holding midfielder, a central defender and a well established striker to challenge for any trophy this season. The current team is not strong enough to do that assuming all injured players recover 100% and no further injury occurs throughout the season. I have always been a supporter of Arsene Wenger and think of him as a smart manager. Clearly this time I am beginning to doubt that. Arsenal areas of weakness can be seen by anyone who understands the game of soccer. Wenger is always stubborn, but stubbornness and smartness should go together. I fear this time our usual fourth place finish has vanished just at the beginning of the season. I can’t see Arsenal finishing fourth this season. That will be the biggest miracle of the season.

  72. tsgh says:

You know things are to teh bare when the likes of Fabio Quagliarella, Kalou and Vuccini are not available for us to be linked with…

Syg- does Gourchuff lay DM? 😛

  73. ozgunner says:

i would like to declare i am speechless but i am not at all surprised by any of this – never believed a word the salesman spins, he’s a joke, just a joke now – Rednapp words on Arsenal half hearted approach for Remy sums up this egotistical bunch of has beens – so want them out of our club ALL OF THEM – One call from Mourinho and deal done while Wenger f*cks around at a charity game on 7m a year fuc**ing joke. What a tosser

  74. tsgh says:

😀 Rocky… so true; Psg have one fit now with Zlatan crocked…

well Le Coq is still around AW has to find a place for one of his ‘pets’ as Syg will say…

It still irks me Aneke got no chance; he was built for this league…

  75. Jimd says:

Will you please stop calling this seriously worrying individual “Arsene”; which implies a degree of affection. He is Wenfer, fucking Wenger

  76. Bob john says:

People really do need to start voting with their feet. Its the only language they understand. Don’t go to the ground. Don’t buy the kit. Don’t subscribe to Arsenal TV.
If Wenger is seriously saying he can’t find better than we already have then all of our scouts need to go. Either they can’t spot a player or he doesn’t trust their judgement. As for Steve Rowley. He used to manage a local club side when I was young and we used to spank their asses regularly. Clueless!!

  77. Jimd says:

Will you please stop calling this seriously worrying individual “Arsene”; which implies a degree of affection. He is Wenger, fucking Wenger!

  78. southyorkshiregunner says:

I don’t thing Coquelin was one of Wenger’s pets, Ginge. He sent him to Germany to be voted 2nd worst player in the Bundesliga. He’s only at Arsenal because no one wants him.

  79. Sukky says:

Tell me if am delusional or hopeful.BVB sign kagawa, does that mean we are having rues at †̥ђƺ end of †̥ђƺ day?aha

  80. ozgunner says:

whatever if anyone we sign now will be the No1 target we wanted for years blah blah blah – over it and going to bed – night all

  81. tsgh says:

Today could have been the appropriate time for such quote after yesterday’s game.

  83. Wath says:

SYG, your 3:34… why would we leave it til now to try to sign Reus is because Wenger hasnt a bloody clue who to go for and dithers faffs and changes his mind every 30mins hence we run round like headless chickens sort and deal by which time he has changed his mind again…!

This week alone we have asked for Jesse (injured), Llorente, Cerci and now Reus…

Didn’t Reus turn us down in May as well?

  85. southyorkshiregunner says:

That was a comment re: Gervais, Nashua.
I can’t recall ever mentioning duck egg …. maybe egg head, but even then I’m not that sure ……

According to the rumours on twitter, Roma are in for Frimpong, Ginge

  86. NashuaGunners says:

    June 1,2013 at 10:49
Someone said, I quote, ” I have nothing against him except that I don’t see him as right for Arsenal when he is taking the place and wage-bill of someone who could be.” He also said, “Would he get a place at any of our rivals? how often has he made the difference? That’s what great players do.”

This could have been more appropriately used for Sir-No-Goal.

  87. Wath says:

That Diaby thing is “NOT”………………….. Funny……………!!

Anymore like that and your in the bin SYG…..

    😀

  88. southyorkshiregunner says:

No we aren’t in trouble Bondex. Everyone is panicking. Twitter is madness at the moment, which is being fuelled more by supporters from Man Utd and Liverpool ……

  89. Woody says:

I’m not normally one to do this, but today is fast becoming too much for me, so I’m going to see how long I can turn the tv off, step away from my computer and forget that football exists.

    See you in 5…

  91. rogerbij says:

Joao Moutinho is good Syg, again not the freakin positions we need. Resigned to the fact its Sanogo till after Christmas. Will he have scored by then though?

  92. tsgh says:

Moutinho and Toulalon are keeping out Kondogbia who fans were creaming on LG for last summer …
A ball playing DM with engine as well… Shame Jorge Mendez but at least his 3rd party issue is resolved.

  93. bondex says:

don’t lie to me syg.. we definitely are.. no cb, no dm no cf and that doesn’t look like trouble to you . What can be going on in Arsene’s mind now ?

  94. NashuaGunners says:

@Ts. CJ25 coming back shows desperate we are..

Yes, AW is the man at the rim. He has the final say to all things but the pitch. But where is the owner? Where is the Board?

You just bought a brandnew house. You hired a painter and asked him to paint your kid’s rooms blue. But he decided to paint all the kid’s rooms red because he (the painter) likes red and he thinks you (owner) would like red because you don’t know anything about colors. What are you going to do with the painter?

  95. southyorkshiregunner says:

We can panic at 11:01pm Bondex.

Rudyard Kipling once said “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs …..”

A few years ago we brought a few in at the last minute …

Same goes for Cazorla and Monreal …. We did those deals in hours…

  96. tsgh says:

Lol Ng- good analogy;; IG and Stan have said a few times that AW is over achieving. As PHW said its their club we are merely customers… 🙂

  97. tsgh says:

lol Ng; still Yaya is a youth level world cup winner… you never know it could just click very soon.
He was in the same youth academy as TH14 so AW will persist me think…

  98. southyorkshiregunner says:

Customers are certainly not what supporters are.

A shop or restaurant gives you a crap product or service you don’t go back ….. Simple !

Arsenal is something that sticks with you regardless of whatever dick head plays for, or runs the club, or even the results..

…… I tried ‘not supporting’ Arsenal in 1975 …. I still found myself watching in forlorn hope as the BBC’s vidiprinter knocked out another defeat….

  99. Micko says:

    SYG 4.17,

“If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs you probably don’t realise the seriousness of the situation”

Is that the one you mean !

  100. esxste says:

For the Wenger Out Brigade… if Wenger was to resign today, as some of you clearly desire, who would you recruit to replace him? How would you prevent the slide into midtable obscurity that Man Utd have found themselves in?

  101. NashuaGunners says:

If AW was doing things completely against Silence Stan and the Board, he could have been fired LONG TIME ago. They must love exactly what he is doing, racking the profit.

  102. southyorkshiregunner says:

Possibly Micko….. I’m trying to be optimistic …. Sorry mate

    BONDEX
    call 08457 90 90 90

    or email: jo@samaritans.org

She’ll be a big bird with a flowery skirt and crocs ….. She’ll not know a great deal about the false 9 or the 4-2-3-1 formation, but she is fairly good at talking people down off a ledge ….

  103. southyorkshiregunner says:

    You rack balls, Nasher

    You rake the profits.

That’s unless you’re Stan the absent Gooner – then anything goes …

  104. tsgh says:

cheers syg- 8 if Miquel stays.lol

Imo-We have not improved a great deal this summer:
Debuchy replaced Sagna, Chambers replaced TV5, Ospina replaced Fab
Alexis is a great addition (but hes too small and I see him as more of a winger , unless he pulls AW does convert him into a Suarez and ends up becoming a WC striker)
Campbell replaced Lord B, but JC has the hunger needed to excel imo…

Add another winger/striker who can score goals then we are sorted.

Theo and Serge will come back soon.. and of course King Abou’s genetic modification is almost completed…

  105. esxste says:

“If AW was doing things completely against Silence Stan and the Board, he could have been fired LONG TIME ago. They must love exactly what he is doing, racking the profit.”

    Nice theory.

Up until the point about profit. Stan doesn’t take a dividend and opposed Usmanovs bid to have dividends paid. Money Arsenal earns is kept in the club.

  106. Nickie says:

If Wenger resigned today he is the biggest tosser going. Leaving us in a mess not giving a new manager any time to get the players in we need. He should have resigned after the FA cup glory.

  107. Micko says:

Esxste 4.32, pointless question, he’s just signed a 3 year extenstion worth 8 mill a year, by the time he see’s it out he will have been with us for 20 years.

  108. Nickie says:

Just imagine what a real manager would have done with the funds we had. Solid DM in, we’d certainly have a WC striker. Only a clueless fool wouldn’t want to put a world class striker infront of that midfield. Wenger is done

  109. NashuaGunners says:

@esxste, does the value of his shares go down? What he invested ( even though he hasn’t paid for all his shares yet) if he sells now, do you think he’ll make profit?

He doesn’t take profit right now, but the value of his shares go up and if he sells he makes profit.

  110. tsgh says:

Falcao’s last appearance in the UCL back in 2010 in a 5-0 defeat to Arsenal. Bendtner scored a hat-trick. lol

NAples did not make UCL; will Higuain move if we were interested?
    Hamsik I will take too…

  111. rico says:

Seems crazy Ts with our lack of depth at the back. Not suggesting he’s the answer but we are one injury away from a disaster at the back…

  112. esxste says:

    Micko,

It’s not a pointless question. I read so many comments on here complaining about Wenger, wish he was gone. But nobody mentions any names to replace him. Nobody considers what will happen when he does go.

I just hope he leaves us in a better state than Fergie did Man Utd.

I think I’m fairly balanced. It frustrates me that Wenger hasn’t yet bought a CB, we are threadbare in defence. I’d like to see a DM and a striker too, like the rest of us.

But if he doesn’t do it, I’ll get behind the team and trust him to get us silverware. For all the shouting about a striker and a DM last summer/winter, we still won the FA Cup.

It’s not the end of the world if we don’t get the players we need.

And for all the shouting about how useless Wenger is, there isn’tanyone better to come in and replace him right now.

  113. tsgh says:

The flood gates surely has to open soon?

We could be lining up after the internationals with Debuchy/CC21, Nacho, Per and Flamini at LB…if either Per or Kosser were injured…

  114. esxste says:

    NashuaGunners,

Surely the best way to improve shareprices in a football club is for that club consistently win silverware?

  115. esxste says:

Big Sam, Tony Pulis? I’m not sure they’d be up to Arsenal’s standards.

For me the best guy to take over would be Pep Guardiola. I might be living in dream world there.

  116. tsgh says:

Esxste- if you have time do some research how much revenue TV and reward fees we made finishing 4th to say City? you might change your views unfortunately.
Investing in football club is a black hole; as Monaco’s owner.

Unless the gate revenue reduces the business model is working as perfect as an atomic clock ; we are the most profitable club…

we put in 2 and get 5 whilst RM and co put in 10 and get 12 putting it simply…

  117. southyorkshiregunner says:

Get Negredo keep Campbell send Sanogo out on loan…..

Royston Drenthe has just joined Sheffield Wednesday FC

  118. goonster says:

In wenger I trust 😀 come on guys. Stop moaning it’s only 12.20pm we ll be fine. Carlos bacca and winston Reid to join plus we haven’t lost a game yet this season and we came back from the dead against a team that bested us last season. See it this way, we won’t be going to Goodison park this season again. Take a chill pill guys. Wenger ll come through. He always does. Arsene knows guys he knows 😀

  119. rico says:

Saw that one too Syg, no way can we let him go, not when Sanogo is still here, like you say, ship the postman out on loan and play Campbell.

  120. goonster says:

Sanogo ll score a hundred goals in 400 appearance for us. He ll be a cult hero. Lay off him rico and syg. He ll come good. Remember anelka 😀

  121. tsgh says:

    ask*
Chelsea are still operating at a loss with 11 or so titles won in 10 years…
Yes they have a smaller stadium but I read an article that extrapolated that if Chelsea had the same gate intake with their spending it will still be barely making any profit…

Chelsea’s cut of the Champions League pie is set to total £35.6m The Champions League revenue remains largely unchanged from last year’s total of £35.2m (Chelsea earned £26.1m for getting knocked out of the group stage and an additional £9.1m for winning the Europa League).

  122. goonster says:

Hehehehehe rico am just trying to put a positive spin on things. Why y’all are tearing your hairs out I ve done mine in the past week. Arsene is a mug. He ll never change. He’s probably somewhere in Rome sipping on a cheap Belgian wine and laughing with gerwanko at us. If I didn’t know any better I ll say they are in lieu just to fuck us up for booing gerwanko.

  123. Micko says:

Fair enough esxste, I’ll get back to you in 2017.

Arsene has carte blanche at Arsenal, he’ll be around for a while yet.

  124. AndrewH13 says:

And with us being so ‘open’, I thought it was going to be a roller coaster day of excitement. Been downhill ever since heard Falcau to manu on way to work!

  125. NashuaGunners says:

esxste. If obtaining top 4 and maintaining Profit each year from the balance sheet, why the uproar from fans (customers) then? Silverwares at some point attract investors which boost shareprices.

Who would invest capital, and don’t like to see it double at some point? Everyone would like Returns in there Investment.

  126. southyorkshiregunner says:

The Arsenal just make an offer of 40 million for Reus dynamite Madrid. Still, rejects Dortmund.

God knows what that is supposed to mean

  127. goonster says:

Hey bt we ll sign di maria falcao and remy on 11.72 pm later tonight. I heard it from my reliable “sauce”. Wenger is working on the deal as we speak. Wait for it bt. We ll blow them all off the water. We ll have the best window in living memory.

  128. dublingunner says:

Negredo, I wouldn,t mind he,s a good striker.I think charlie nicholas could call it right, wenger could go in for klose for a season, if no one else is available, he tried to get im in jan, as a last minute replacement. But where,s the defensive cover jeeezzz.

  129. esxste says:

    tshg,

Yes, Arsenal make decent money with their top 4 finishes and regular UCL appearences.

But to really expand our fan base and the associated advertising reach, as well as prestige to boost the share price, we need to win silverware regularly.

The incentives are there for Stan to push for silverware… it’s just his time-scale is bit longer term than most Arsenal fans are prepared to wait it seems.

  130. Joaquim Moreira says:

Portuguese media: Campbell in the way out to Benfica (99%) like I said yesterday.
conclusion: we didn’ sign anyone and we lost players

  131. tomstoned says:

dublingunner that is true but i believe its the buying clubs eadline that will be in effect…but Reus isnt happening..important updates…keep a tab on fjortoft on twitter…

  132. Gunnerdna says:

Rosicky disappointed at lack of action

“I am sorry that I did not get a chance, it’s a shame. While the team isn’t playing very well, I thought that I could help but if you’re not on the pitch there’s nothing you can do.”

“It is is too soon [to talk about a transfer]. We played five games, the season is still getting going. The Champions League starts, the schedule will be great.

“We’ll see how it looks in the coming weeks, months. I am disappointed that I did not get a chance, but that’s the only thing I can be.
“I have to be poised for the moment, and to take my chance when it comes. That’s the only thing I can do.”

  133. southyorkshiregunner says:

Gdna. Rosicky is as disappointed as Podolski and Joel Campbell.
Flamini may be DM but he’s not particularly good at it. Ox or Rosicky could have done a better job.

  134. dublingunner says:

marco reus me favourite player, im dying here, so disappointed ,If it,s true. He could still push for a move ,hand in transfer request, I know, i should know better it,s not happening. deal with it. AAAAGGHH.

  135. Gunnerdna says:

I’m so disappointed with the clubs inactivity in the transfer market, why am i allowing myself to feel so down, its a public holiday in America & i’m sitting around an electronic device hoping for Arsenal to sign players, something that might not even on the mind of people at the club. I’m fucked if this is actually taking over my life while my friend talk about that’s NFL starting on Thursday. Why every Sports team i follow behave the same way. Why can i get outside and enjoy the Barbecue, listen to music and enjoy myself like the regular people, am i crazy?

  136. southyorkshiregunner says:

The Telegraph 6 mins ago: Radamel Falcao to earn £346,000 a week as Manchester United pay £24 million for season-long loan

  137. rico says:

That’s what happens on DD, the selling clubs will hold out for as much as they can, especially with us as they know we are desperate.

Why didn’t we sort Reus and Carvalho out weeks ago…

  138. Wavy says:

I’m overwhelmed! Danny Welbeck is having a medical at Arsenal!
Well that will solve our striking difficulties then!
On the up side he has got to be better than Sangogo–googol!

  139. southyorkshiregunner says:

    I’m not Woody.
Fckng rubbish for Man Utd yet he’s good enough for us.
    Says it all.
He only wants to come to us because he knows there’s only Sanogo stopping him from having a game ….
    Let Tottenham have him …

  140. southyorkshiregunner says:

Wavy – Be careful what you wish for.
He comes in – Campbell will go…

Campbell has to be better than Welbeck

  141. Gunnerdna says:

Syg, At the moment i will take Welbeck over Sanogo any day of the week. Sanogo is like a giraffe chasing a coconut down a step, he is shit.

  142. Woody says:

That’s the state of it though eh SYG.

I’m not that bothered by Falcao, we were never going to pay that much money on wages, however we should have got Remy over the line as soon as Giroud got injured, if not before.

There’s talk of a midfielder as well, but what about a centre back???

  143. southyorkshiregunner says:

I don’t think it works like that GDNA.
Wenger loves Sanogo. Just like he loves Diaby. It is a special kind of love that we mere mortals cannot comprehend.

Campbell or Podolski will be the ones getting shoved out if Welbeck comes in…

  144. Lee says:

Right I’m off for a few Estrellas, hoping to numb the pain of being an Arsenal supporter right now! I expect to check on here later to see some decent signings or Wenger can fuck right off! It’ll be the biggest transfer window travesty EVER! Hasta la luego.

  145. Wavy says:

Woody, Chesney is going to play ‘rush goalie’ so we don’t need a new CB!
AFC couldn’t organise an orgy in a brothel!
    Transfer window…..my arse!

  146. southyorkshiregunner says:

Woody – Can you remember when we bought Bergkamp?

Now we’re scraping the barrel for some Man Utd reject…. The only thing we’ve ever recently got from them is humiliation on the pitch and Silvestre … sort of the same thing really

  147. Gunnerdna says:

    David Ornstein ‏@bbcsport_david 4m
Arsenal interested in signing Welbeck before deadline. Not clear if permanent or loan & no deal agreed or medical yet #bbcdeadlineday #MUFC

Why not just bid 45 mil for Marco Reus, loaning players from the 7th place team. AW flush his ambition.

  148. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Come on GDNA …

Snap out of it mate …….

We’ve already lost Ginge ….. Last seen throwing himself under a steam roller in Hackney ….. That was because we weren’t re-signing Frimpong …..

  149. NashuaGunners says:

Where are all these Arsenal Greats; seeing what is happening at the club, cant they come out and speak their minds?

Silence Stan don’t take profit because he love Arsenal and football so much?

Alisher Usamanor, Cant you make Silence Stan an offer he can refuse?

  150. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hang on a bit GDNA…. That’s dead depressing …. I hope we get a few more comments so I don’t have to see it another 100 times ….

Syg, no need, just pulling your leg. DD is always like this, I’m hanging on to all the gossip just as we all are..

Hoping desperately that the club make a few bloody good signings…

  160. tsgh says:

lol welbec k training at Emirates with England.
    Aw promised English core… lol

Syg, stop hating FC Ufa have Igor as their manager.. 😀

  161. Hell Raising Devil says:

tbh…..I still would like better than DW

but at least he is EPL experienced and he is English. So he will hit the ground running

Kev…I can assure you that SAIN WAN SOON is a great player. He is so good he has three feet and scores with them all

  162. BrainwashedKev says:

Can’t Wenger make bleedin mind up…

He wants Welbeck and then he doesn’t…

    He’s like a tart….

  163. rockyrocastle07 says:

In a choice between the black Bart Simpson and Huntelaar, I’d take Welbeck all day long. Huntelaar is just another injury prone, past his best plodder.

  164. rockyrocastle07 says:

I’m really don’t see the problem with Welbeck. Works his arse off, and can score, in the right team. Can play on the flanks, so even Wenger does his usual of getting someone and playing them out of position, it won’t affect him. Unless he’s played as a CB of course…

  165. potter says:

Huntelaar was linked with us in 2009, 2011, 2012 and now today. He wasn’t deemed good enough before , so what has changed ?

  166. goonster says:

Hey dutch man here stay away from klaas jan he’s a girly pants who throws temper tantrums when he doesn’t get his way. Qelbeck anyday. Premier League proven and has a point to prove again the manscum. Sign him up. Afternoon good people.

  167. goonster says:

Plus welbeck is better than what we currently have. No offense to sanogo but thr guy sucks eggs. I don’t blame him though I blame our dear leader.

  168. goonster says:

Rico I saw this coming. Am not surprised. It’s actually funny. The last day of the window our manager is reffing a game. Hahahahahahahahahahahahah who does that? Oh good Lord arsenal is comedy drama and tragedy all wrapped in one.

  169. kel says:

what a mess this transfer window has been…. truly pissed off at wenger and Arsenal… unless 2 significant signings come inn, in the next 2hrs…. we’ll be 4th-6th at xmas, at least 8-10pts off chelsea. imo….

  170. tsgh says:

Embarrassingly, the swap deal between Milan & Parma for Biabiany & Zaccardo has collapsed, despite presentations. pic.twitter.com/3N9XwnwGjn
lol… Fergie and Obi Mikel part II

  171. Lewis says:

As bob john said, I guess they forgot we desperately need cover at the back as well. Another year, another missed opportunity.

  172. tomstoned says:

Rico….injuries seems to be mounting…and we flog of players here and there…this is supposed to be a big club ?..i really wish that konkers,(*)azidis, wenger and the board just feck off…all of em…asap…
but its proving my point over and over again…we’re not a football club..we’re just an americanized business…

Kronke get the feck out of Our Club !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  173. southyorkshiregunner says:

You know summat Ginge – when you’re expecting bugger all – something is always a plus …. notice how I never really swore?

  174. Gunnerdna says:

I hope the fans come up some some chant against Stan Kroenke, he needs to know he is not welcome & needs to fuck. His attitude towards the club is piss poor.

  175. tsgh says:

Alan Smith on SSN says Welbeck to Arsenal done deal, unknown if loan or permanent. Seemingly only him though.

    A good pragmatic signing imo…

  176. tsgh says:

    Rick, Kev-
Arsenal talent Kristoffer Olsson will join FC Midtjylland on loan with option to buy. [Ekstra Bladet]

  177. tsgh says:

He is not excellent BUT if TRUE he will give us options imo… AW could improve him… Fergie does not keep certain players expecially strikers if they are shite imo.. if he can get us 12 goals that will be useful than nothing…

  178. potter says:

Welbeck is as underwhelming as you could get.

Branded as shit by United but good enough for us?

The next chapter of project youth.

  179. tsgh says:

Personally I rather Welbeck on the rhs rather than Santi against BVB to track Mkitaray (spellin), Drum or Kevin Großkreutz

  180. southyorkshiregunner says:

I was in Cyprus the last summer transfer deadline when Fjortoft told us we’d got Ozil. I ought to be back there. Arsenal never lose and we buy world class players ……..

  181. goonster says:

Potter welbeck over klaas jan anyday. Not a big fan of the manscum but like sturridge when he was deemed not good enough for the chavs he could be really useful. Plus with santi ozil and ramsey behind him…come on now. I see a 25 goal a season striker in him. Sign him up ASAP. COYFGS. Yeeeeeeaaaaaah welbeeeeeeeeeeeeck.

  182. rico says:

Oh well, i’m heading off, got a 4am alarm set so early night…

Catch tomorrow, no doubt it will be an interesting day…

    Night all….

  183. tsgh says:

We were not going to get Lewandowski this late in the window with all the volcanic ash… 😛

Welbeck or Yaya? At least 1 has Fergie’s fighting attitude imo… he gets on very well with the English players too…
He is far better than whu’s Andy carrol imo and cheaper…

    Still a wasted window nonetheless!

  184. tsgh says:

A one in 4 or 5 forward not a proper striker. At least he is always fit…

Note Yaya was ‘injured’ for 6 months and has already clocked up 3 injuries since joining us…

  185. potter says:

The first two lines were quotes from SYG,Goonie, my thoughts on Welbeck are that he is about 2 years in front of Sanogo and at 2 hours before the close of play beggars can’t be.

  186. tsgh says:

    excellent point potter;
Syg- he is underwhelming indeed but you and I talked offline to know the likes of Falcao won’t have happened…
Juve were pissed with us with AS17 move and so Llorente was wishful thinking as well…
Cavani was never going to happen…

Welbeck on another African; Benteke? Syg. 😀

  187. tsgh says:

JM-Alessio cerci turned us down on Saturday… a bid was accepted but he thought he would be 3rd or 4th choice whilst at Ath he will be 1st or 2nd behind Mandzukic who most AFC fans don’t rate..

  188. tsgh says:

Actually Welbeck has played 3 games for Yanited this season..

apparently he was sold to balance the books with Falcao coming… United sources

  189. AndrewH13 says:

Welbeck likes a flick here and there so should fit in!
Actually he can play with back to goal so could be OK. As long as 16m on BBC true rather than a loan. Then at least in January we could have two at least average strikers available. But got to sign a CB, hurry up, you’ve had 3 months.

  190. Joaquim Moreira says:

    ok. A short resume:
    Sandro (Totts) QPR
Bem Afa (Newcatle9 and Gaston Ramirez(Southampton) – Hull
    ricky alvarez (Inter) – Sunderland
    Diamé (West Ham) – Hull
Blint (Ajax) Falcao (monaco) – m.United
    Coates (Liverpoll) – sunderland
    alderweidr (A.Madrid) Southampton
    Borini (Liverpool) Qpr
    Stambouri (montpelier) Totts
    holtby (Totts) Hamburg
Pandev (Napoli) e Dzemali (Napoli) – Galatasaray
    …..

  191. tsgh says:

    £16m with add-ons over 3 years we are paying £8m now…

He has sell on value even if £5m next summer. English.

Falcao is just coming back from an ACL injury so maybe it was a bridge too far…

Lets see how quickly Yanited ‘garnish’ the 3rd party ownership seeing as Rojo is still not registered properly…

  192. tsgh says:

    Goonie- it could happen.
    I am half happy tbh…

Paying £10m or so to Monaco and paying Mendes and Falcao £340kpw was never my idea of reason… but I am a sadist so… lol

  193. goonster says:

He might not be the super star signing we all clamor for but trust me this kid shows up in the big games. He has a point to prove. He ll knuckle down and be a beast in 6 months folks ll be like radamel who??

  194. goonster says:

Plus he’s still young and has his best years ahead of him. Sturridge anyone. Am happy we got hin. Pl proven young English angry with a point to prove. Arsene you old goat you ve done it again. COYFGS.

  195. tsgh says:

Goonie- also Falcao can’t play on his own upfront…

Could/would our stuck in his ays manager change formation to play 2 upfront?

  196. Vonnie says:

I feel sick. It’s even worse than usual because this time I really believed it would be different. The fans and the players deserve better than this. Good night everyone, I can’t get my head around this.

  197. goonster says:

Ginge it’s a fine acquisition. Am not over the moon but am kinda chuffed. He ll come good trust me. Reminds me of a certain french man we signed from juve all those years ago….what’s his name again??? Oh yes Thierry Henry 😀

  198. southyorkshiregunner says:

We’ve got to keep smiling Ginge – Let’s face it. Any experienced PL forward is a plus on Sanogo…. Like LG are saying … I’d have rather had Balotelli .. but

  199. Micko says:

Sorry if I come across as a bit of a thicko but wasn’t ricky alvarez linked to us last season, inter to sunderland now !

Welbeck to arsenal, done deal !!! not half as bad as some regulars would make out.

Centre back a must ! 90 minutes to make it happen.

  200. goonster says:

Nne can’t finish?? What are they sniffing over at leshite? Some people are just low lives who ll knock any player we sign down. I ve seen welbeck singlehandedly win manure games even under ferguscnunt. Alright let’s do this yaya sanogo and welbeck???? I thought so.

  201. tsgh says:

He was Micko- before he joined Inter; section of fans who may not seen him where slating Aw for not paying the £16m his club asked for…
Indeed Syg- we got to make the best out of a shite window but hey…

  202. kel says:

his workrate is good like Alexis, so will probably help close down defenders just like Alexis… Thats about it for me… but better than sanogoals… fighting for 4th imo…

  203. tsgh says:

Kel- personally I will take Welbeck-

If Aw invest more than £10m in a player; he works on him.. Welbeck has it all but the goals…

If he can do the donkey work for the likes of Santi and Ozil to score… I don’t care if he has high fade hair cut.lol

His movement might bring best out of Ozil too…

13 goals at least fingers crossed.

  204. southyorkshiregunner says:

Sukky….. It is an upgrade on Sanogo, mate

That’s if Wenger plays him instead of him…… That is

  205. Hell Raising Devil says:

Suddenly the English core has gone up to 6 now…..Wilshere, Gibbs, Chambers, Chamberlain, Walcott and now Welbeck.

  206. tsgh says:

Fans might prefer chichito Hernandez but Welbeck was trusted more than him…
Since the Neville, DB07 era only him and 2 more have come through yanited ranks… he is a trier.

  207. Luznic says:

but in all honesty I will prefer Welbeck to Balotelli and Remy, can’t jump up because he is not a 25goal striker, but he has goals I don’t think Yaya has any

  208. kel says:

i’ll take him to tsgh, because we have no other option. i just cant help but feel gutted tbh, i took some stick earlier in work lol ffs tortured more like it.

in fairness fergie always started him in the big games.

hope we can get a defensive player in the door here…

  209. Hell Raising Devil says:

If I were AW, when AFC play against NUFC, I would put out all the English core and then criticise PArdew for not having enough Englishmen in the team.

A whole forward line of Englishmen.Walcott, Welbeck. OX

  210. tsgh says:

Luznic/kel-He played on the wings too most times… 20 goals in 90 yanited games playing everywhere is not bad imo..

he is an EPL winner too…

  211. Hell Raising Devil says:

Yanited of Manure fans are not seeing the DW to us kindly

most of them agree that it is a mistake.

fingers crossed he blossoms and makes it impossible for AW to remove him from the team. a sort of English TH14????

    I hope so

  212. tsgh says:

Micah Richards loan deal to Fiorentina is….done
    lol
    El Loco Goose @CrazyGoose · 4m
Welbeck: “no disrepect to Man Utd, but I no longer want to play for a midtable club, I have ambitions of playing Champions League football”

  213. tsgh says:

Ex-Man Utd assistant René Meulensteen on SSN: “I’ve known Welbeck since he was 8, I’m disappointed to see him go.”

  214. tsgh says:

    “Danny is not an out-and-out goalscorer, he’s a link player, he’s a creator, he’s unpredictable” – Meulensteen

  215. kel says:

so it seems like per, kos chambers then for the season lol ffs that’s really neglectful imo… unless there is a shock here in the next 25 mins

  216. southyorkshiregunner says:

If he grafts and doesn’t showboat Ginge he may do okay ….. As I said – anybody is better than Sanogo. Only time will tell.

  217. tsgh says:

    kerry chandler @901cannon · 1h
BREAKING…..Diaby out for the rest of the season after walking in to the transfer window…..

    lol

  218. Bob john says:

If its true that we were after Manolas and Rabiot. How on earth have we lost out to Roma? Thought Italian clubs were skint!

  219. tsgh says:

Bj- Rudi Garcia is the new AW of french football… most french players prefer him now me think… most signings are loans though…

  220. tsgh says:

According to MEN, Arsenal’s move for Nastasic didn’t JUST happen – they’ve been in touch with City for hours. As have THFC, NUFC & Marseille

  221. tsgh says:

    Jeremy Wilson @JWTelegraph · 5m
No more signings at Arsenal other than Welbeck. Net summer spending behind only Man U in PL and highest ever by Wenge

  222. Bob john says:

tsgh. We’ve had months to sort out some players. At the moment we only have Mert, Chambers and Monreal to play against Dortmund.

  223. Lewis says:

Agreed bob john, yes we needed a striker but what about the massive squad holes in defence. 1 injury away from Monreal at CB.

  224. Micko says:

Bob john, not sure why anyone would want to go to Italy, racists, match fixing, corruption, half empty stadiums, wish cashley cole all the best of luck !

  225. tsgh says:

Bj- it is negligent at the highest order. Considering we lost Sagna and Tv who played CB last season for us and bought a 20y.o very good thus far nonetheless…

  226. Bob john says:

I thought it would be impossible for us to end up with a weaker squad than last season! So much for the Puma money and the FA Cup win!

  227. kel says:

well thats it…. judgement day has arrived….. Bottom line imo

WE HAVE NO FUCKING CHANCE OF WINNING THE LEAGUE….

2 injuries to the back line and its disaster time…

    fight for 4th…..

  228. tsgh says:

WoW- Arsenal are going into a season with 7 defenders, 2 are injured, Debuchy CL suspended.

Hayden good luck to you mate…

  229. tsgh says:

    Night Friends…

Same time next year in January… God willing. lol

enough bs of this transfer rubbish… 90m spent on footballers.. hungry kids around still.. 😉

  230. Sammy Nelsons Pants says:

Welbecks a decent signing. English players are usually at a premium, reckoned 5-10m so the price is OK… Interesting stat: Welbeck games per goal playing wide (4-5-1 / 4-3-3) : 7.0. Playing at CF : 2.2….. 8 from 26 for England isn’t bad either. Found that on teh webz somewhere. Baffled about the defence though. Reckon Bellerin is getting promoted, and we’re going with 3 CBs. Hmmm.

  231. AndrewH13 says:

Just think, if Giroud hadn’t been injured, we would have had a complete blank today. While Wenger away playing in Italy. That would have been worst Arsenal day ever.

  232. Woody says:

Night SYG – I hope the nightmares end when you get to sleep!!

I’m shocked we didn’t buy a defender. Really really shocked.

Really I felt, like many, that we needed a CB, DM & CF.

  233. Micko says:

I’m reliably informed Lethal Bizzle is Dench’s get out of jail card tsgh, he’ll end up back up at Barnsley next season if he begs them to have him back.

  234. Micko says:

Hope arsene had a great day out in rome today, fcuking arse-hole !
Makes you wonder where our priorities lie.

Nite Gooners, take a fortnight off, you deserve it !

  235. Wavy says:

Welbeck just signed in time. Nothing happening Goonie style in my trousers, but better than Wenger’s first choice, by a long way, but he’ll do until the new year!
And Falcao has still not signed….I would love it, just love it………you know the rest! Doubt he won’t sign but wouldn’t it be good if he didn’t I may cr… Myself!
    Heaven forefend.

    Might all it’s been a blast….or not?

  236. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Mumblers and Grumblers.

So at the end of the day we get a new player…..Wii Bai Wan. A Chinese superstar who can play anywhere in the front line. Mark my words……AW will make him the new TH14 of this decade. Pity that only half of it is left.

Oh, and we got Danny Welbeck as well. I wonder if he is going to play.

  237. Hell Raising Devil says:

So that means that Bellerin must be promoted now. Good. Whenever I have seen the lad play I liked what I saw.

So the Carling Cup will see Ajayi and Hayden play now. Maybe even be a sub on the bench.

I cannot see AW playing all the games with Debuchy, Gibbs, Per, Kos, CC and Monreal.

  238. Hell Raising Devil says:

Anyone knows what number DW will get?

    He can get 5, 23, 25, 26, 29 etc

I doubt he will get 5. More like DW23.

But unless AW thinkers with him I doubt he has been bought to be a supporting act. I think it will be more to become the focal point of attack. Maybe OG12’s injury will turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

  239. Hell Raising Devil says:

Suddenly we have got good speed up front. Sanchez, Theo, Ox, Welbeck. And at the same time with the exception of Theo the other three are work horses as well and have a good work rate.

If only AW had got another DM.

  240. AndrewH13 says:

Yep, he gives us speed and hopefully ability to hold ball up for midfielders coming forward. If he gets back to his level a year ago, could be good signing with useful attitude. But how could we not replace Thomas? Means giving up League Cup, one of our few chances of making a 2nd trophy.

  241. Lee says:

Thank fuck the TW is shut, I wasn’t sure if logged on to Twitter or TS House last night!
Gross neglect to the squad by Wenger, he should be totally embarrassed! Manure get Falcao we get Welback that just about sums it up……. A fucking travesty!

  242. potter says:

When you look at the wages it is obvious that we were never going to get Falcao anyone that understands the board and Wenger’s socialist ideals would have known that. People are disappointed with Welbeck because they are making comparisons with the Columbian. Although In himself he is an upgrade on Sanogo . The person I feel for is Campbell who must be wondering what he is doing at The Arsenal. Not a minutes playing time and another player bought in ahead of him. It’s at the back that I am annoyed about , we have had a whole window and are no stronger through the middle going backwards. Our Achillies heel.

  243. Nickie says:

Potter, I feel for Campbell too. I’d hope that Welbeck would push Sanogo and Pod down the pecking order in terms of CF/LW

  244. tsgh says:

    Potter, totally agree with you…
I also think Welbz figures are not as bad. In fact he and Theo have similar comparisons; Welbz scored 0.36 goals per game last season. At the same age Benzema scored 0.3, Drogba 0.25, Ian Wright 0.24, Yorke 0.16.

I see Welbz as another Wiltord who will come in and score big goals for us…
Imagine Welbz scoring at Old Manure grounds to clinch us the EPL…; Damn that was my dream last night. 😀

Seriously though, AW is better with ‘underwhelming’ signings than big stars who end up getting lost in his complex formation.

    Davor Suker is one example…

  245. kel says:

Still disgusted at the lack of defensive cover… can you imagine going to utd, city, Chelsea this season with kos and mert missing truly neglectful from wenger, unforgivable imo…. i suppose we might as well start looking for defensive players who are currently out of contract and can still be signed, as we most likely are gonna need one.

  246. rico says:

Wenger, the gutless board and owner don’t agree with me Bt…

    But no, 4am alarm doesn’t help… 😉

Morning Kel, a big fat mess. Utter neglect by all involved…

  247. frenchgunner says:

good morning rico and all housers

wonder AW chose to be away to let things in Ivan’s (Stan’s) hands and co ,
to let us fans know it is not him who has the final say on transfers?!

or maybe he was being asked to be away so others take care of business?…..still failure no matter who is in charge! something doesn’t add up there…

  248. potter says:

It’s what happens from now on that’s important. I suppose. At United he has always been in the shadow of Rooney and RVP . From now on it’s sink or swim , he has every chance of making a career now. If we want to go on stats though his England stats suggest that when Rooney is not around ( injured ) he knows where the goal is.

  249. rico says:

Bt, he’s been played wide a lot though hasn’t he? Hope AW plays him central and he finds his shooting boots..

At least there’s another reason to watch England… 😛

  250. Wavy says:

Rico, good morning to you and everyone else on this Tranfer Window day minus 1!
Perhaps Falcao will adopt one or two or more of the out of contract boys and keep them in work. I’m sure he could afford it!
£340,000 per week is more than a working man, a professional working man will earn in 10 years. I think maybe, socially and economically we have got our priorities a little confused! Wait until the bubble bursts, which it will and see what emerges from the rubble. Not a lot I suspect except blood, sweat, toil and tears, and a great deal of bankruptcy clubs and players alike.
    Heaven preserve us!
    Have a nice day all.
Posted on the first day of the reign of King Welbeck our new saviour!
    Things can only get better!!!

  251. Hell Raising Devil says:

Yayyyy I guessed right this morning on DW23.

    that is his number now.

    you lot feeling underwhelmed???

I am not. wait till we get to December. Then we can talk about DW23. Until then I will not bash him on the head.

But I am concerned about the CB and DM positions.

Unless Bellerin, Haydn and Ajayi are going to be promoted.

  252. Nickie says:

Welbeck last season scored 0.64 goals per 90 mins (excluding penalties) that was only better by Aguero, Suarez and Sturridge.

  253. southyorkshiregunner says:

Welbeck’s an upgrade on Sanogo. Or ‘Dat guy Welbz’ as he likes to be fckng called

Under Man Utd he had Ferguson to keep him in check and crack the whip…
With Wenger it is a case of “Go out there and express your true self …..”
How did that work with Adebayor ……. Song ….

Within six months he’ll be turning up for training in white Lincoln Continental, wearing a leopardskin overcoat and running a string of bitches from his London Colney HQ…..

    https://twitter.com/BlackScarfAFC/status/506713859575799808

  254. Hell Raising Devil says:

Sorry Mumblers and Grumblers….but those who were dreaming of Cavani and Falcao were simply doing that……dreaming.

At 340K wage (Falcao), 330K(Shrek) and 250K(Judas) Yanited of MAnure must have one of the heftiest wage bills on just the forward line alone.

Sorry but AFC do not do those wages.

the only thing I am concerned about is bodies in the squad. Yes I do like Bellerin, Ajayi and Haydn but they are still young. Mistakes and injuries will cost them. but at the end of the day we got another body who is EPL experienced, has a good workrate, willing to learn and is English.

How many of you are willing to bet against me that DW23 will be spearheading the England attack in the CF position come next Euros??

  255. kel says:

I genuinely hope that it turns out utd have done all the ground work with welbeck.. They produced him trained him, developed him, fergie obviously liked his attitude, strength and pace.
The only thing missing was goals but still only 23…. so who knows we might be surprised by him.

Nothing we can do now about the defence just hope and pray kos, per, chambers stay fit…

    Ps is hayden still there?

  256. Bt62 Gooner says:

Well, hopefully it’ll reduce the time, Sanogo spends in the starting eleven. True, he had competition at old toilet, shouldn’t be a problem at Afc, at the moment.

  257. rogerbij says:

Welbeck will be ok. Good luck to him, and thanks for signing. At least(!) he is a massive upgrade on Sanogo.

But really, if this is the level of player we were aiming at, why not Remy – who is better, more prolific and was half the price.

Another point, why oh why go in for Carvahlo on the last day. I wanted that player badly, and is everything we are missing in the middle of the park. And can even cover defence if needed. You have to make a young player feel wanted, like he is welcome. Not this transfer day BS. No wonder he didnt want to screw his club and change his life at the drop of the hat. We blew that one. And we have stuff all cover defensively. This will be a long few months till January, or should I say last day of January when Wenger *might* pull a Kim out of the bag again.

Chelsea and City had a transfer period plan, and hats off, did what they needed, with no nonsense. There was no reason we couldnt have done the same.

  258. Bt62 Gooner says:

He’ll have to do, i’ll back him now and like Dev, judge him in December, if AW hasn’t ruined him by then.

  259. rico says:

roger, I’m ok with Welbeck too but livid that he didn’t sign a DM and CB, or even two CB’s and play Chambers as the DM…

  260. potter says:

I see that too Rico , my problem with it is that a small squad with various players patching in means that unless there is injury the top 15 players get overplayed again. Our first team is good enough but when injuries pile up that’s where we get stretched.

  261. rogerbij says:

Exactly Rico, exactly… I always feel leaving it to deadline day is utterly negligent. Deadline day is for bonus deals, not for doing what you need. Instead of being hopefully optimistic for the season ahead, Im worried, really worried. Injuries will come and hit our chances of winning anything.

  262. tsgh says:

😀 ”At least there’s another reason to watch England… :P”
I love watching England only time I fall asleep easily.

  263. Bob John says:

    Morning all,
I welcome Welbeck’s work ethic but to me he is the English Gervinho. Lots of good approach work but final pass and finishing lacking. Hope I’m wrong and he doesn’t become a crowd target if he doesn’t hit the ground running. However, with him and Alexis up front we should be able tohave a high pressing gamee.

  264. ozgunner says:

i hope he doesn’t talk the press into trying to convince us this was ever a real target for the new ‘compete with anybody club’ – dear oh dear now we wait for the “oh well its ok, lets see how he does and forgive again” brigade. So Chambers now covers for the RB suspension and there will be a few of these and who’s covering the CB injuries? Mindless management. We sat and watched our DM torn to pieces time and time again with pace and we’ve added what exactly? Mindless management. We sit and watch top top strikers moving clubs and we take the United cast off’s again – Mindless management – he deserves all he gets, they all do
