Wenger drops a hint? Arsenal favourites to sign Mignolet & 3rd time lucky for Pogba? FA Cup for the Ladies..

Morning all,

Ok, there was a final last night, but today there is a more important one.

The ladies face Bristol Academy at 3pm UK time. It takes place at Doncaster’s Keepmoat Stadium and it’s live on television thanks to BB2. The game between the two sides is a repeat of the 2011 FA Cup final when Arsenal finished 2-0 winners.

Good luck to them for today.

Talking of finals and winning them, Freddie Ljungberg has been giving his opinion on finishing 4th. He said that the club shouldn’t be celebrating it.

I’m not too happy about them celebrating fourth place. I’m from the old school where, if you don’t win a trophy every year, then it is a big failure.

We will see what happens in the summer and hopefully Arsenal will have a better team next season.

Good job Freddie signed for Arsenal then, as I’m not sure he won any trophies outside of his years with us.

But of course he is right, 4th is not a position to be celebrated as if we’d just won the FA Cup but where we ended up meant a lot more than just a Champions League place that day and he should realise that. Henry would have done, he wasn’t keen on the neighbours either!

Just like Freddie, every Arsenal fan will hope that our club has a better team next season. A much deeper and stronger squad is what’s needed.

A player Arsene Wenger clearly thinks a lot of is Borussia Dortmund’s İlkay Gündoğan. Apparently, whilst commentating on the Champions League final for French television, he couldn’t praise the guy more highly if he tried. Is he dropping a big hint about him hoping to sign him I wonder?

Dortmund seem to be going through a tough time trying to keep hold of their best players, Mario Gotze is set to depart, as is Robert Lewandowski, both appear to be heading to Bayern Munich. Can’t be easy for Klopp, go on Arsene, go steal a third!

The Sunday People report that after two previous failed attempts to sign Paul Pogba, Arsene Wenger is set to try a third time. The player has been on the receiving end of racist abuse in Italy and he wants out of Juve.

Another name to rear it’s ugly head again is Stoke’s Steven Nzonzi!!

The Daily Mirror report that Arsenal are set to win the battle to land Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

Please let that last one be true!

That’s it for another day…….

  1. ArsenalDK says:

How much would Mignolet cost? Wouldn’t Begovic be a better option? Silly season has just started, and until it’s official, I don’t believe a single rumour…

  2. GoonerEris says:

Honestly, I am not sure ow much better Mignolet is to what we have, presently. Besides, being so young, he is bound to be bad news for Szczesny and company. Julio Cesar is a better keeper who has won things and would be able to inspire confidence in our current keeper crop, seeing as he is 33.
Gundogan is a player I have liked for a while now. Would certainly be a fantastic addition.

  3. rico says:

Adk, around £10 million I think. Begovic wants to go to Liverpool apparently..

It is silly season, very silly season…

  4. Okul joab says:

Hopes Wengr dors something serious this time round, other identifying for other clubs and they buy.
    Splash out the check book

  5. ArsenalDK says:

That’s a lot of money rico. I’m guessing we could get Cesar for £5-6 million. Gundogan would be a great addition yes, I cannot see Dortmund selling him. My first priority would be a proven goalscorer. We won’t be getting Neymar, as Barca have bought him. Not that I ever believed we would get him..

  6. Bill says:

Not better than sczezzer when his head’s right. Get keeper with 2 or 3 years left in his career so sczezzer can learn while developing in the background

  7. rico says:

    Ditto Oj..

It is Adk, but he’d be worth it. A top keeper will save us points. Our two have been better of late but imho, get a top class keeper..

Not sure Cesar is consistent, he can be great one game and then poor the next.

  8. rico says:

That’s what we have been hoping for ages Bill, we should have got Swarzer but he’s a bit too old now.. Same with Jussi…

  9. rico says:

    Abiola.

What exactly do you think Liverpool and Chelsea could teach us??

Who do you think should replace AW then?

  10. ArsenalDK says:

Agree regarding Cesar rico, but i’m convinced that the only thing he needs is a bit of mental coaching, and we would become much more consistent. It was not a coincidence that he was named goalie of the year back at Inter Milan..

  11. ArsenalDK says:

Yes rico, but maybe Wenger should forget about his personal matters, and think about the team? Would he lift the morale at the dressing room? I certainly believe so…
As for Wengers replacement, I could not wish for someone more than Klopp…

  12. GoonerEris says:

Cesar is consistent, to be fair, though I am not sure how much that has had to do with playing for a struggling side. At Inter Milan, he was always making great saves and was the backbone of the team in JM’s time there when they won the CL.

Abiola must be here to on a wind -up mission.

  13. rico says:

Adk, he won’t get that from our keeper coaches, to be fair, both Fabianski and Ches have needed the same…

  14. ArsenalDK says:

I guess our whole backroom staff need to be refreshed.. As many pointed out, bring in Seaman and/or Lehmann. Oh how I miss Seamans moustache…

  15. rico says:

RvP might be enough to attract him to Manure, I guess well see if AW is interested over the next few weeks Adk, I guess by putting a ‘buy back’ clause into his Barca contract suggests that AW might be tempted….

But we don’t even know if Cesc is looking to move from his boyhood club…

  16. Wavy says:

I suppose having had Freddie’s take on finishing fourth, the open top bus ride round islington is now cancelled? Do we know who, amongst the back room staff has been tasked with polishing the trophy?
As for being “linked with……..” Believe what you want, but I shall not pay any attention to anything very much until the ink is dry on another marquee signing’s contract!

Mignolet, maybe. Gundogan, probably not, good footballer though.
Rooney, Cesc, highly unlikely. Pogba, where did that come from?

Overall, I think it is all nonsense.

  17. rico says:

    Fair point GE..

And yes, I didn’t take that ‘lets learn from chelsea’ comment too seriously either…

  18. rico says:

Wavy, of course it’s all nonsense but we are linked with nearly every player, one has to come true …

  19. GoonerEris says:

Fabianski? He is making all the right noises about being ready for the fight for the No. 1 shirt but my guess is if we do get a new keeper, he will be off. Not sure about his suitors, though. You can see Don Vito is equally restless. The club deserves 3 reliable keepers, in my view. Who we go for, I can’t tell now but would fancy Cesar for what he brings.

  20. GoonerEris says:

Not sure how often these “links” have worked with Wenger, tbh. I will wait till I hear an official word.

  21. Foolishgooner says:

Silly season here! I will take H cezar from QPR, not sure Arry would let that happen though. He is still butt hurt about Spuds days and finishing behind us. Please any productive warm body to replace (Diaby, Frimpong, Coquelin) in the middle. We need strength, pace, height combative mids who pass and shoot, and play minimum 30+ matches! Arteta and Ramsey belong in the bench if we have hopes of winning a trophy.. Why not play Vermealen a defensive mid, at least that would be a world if defense. I’m tired of mediocracy. I want replacement for Arshavin, Chamakh, NB, Rosicky one quality player for four decent experienced player (fair trade off ain’t it). Cheers

  22. Fed up Gooner says:

You guys don’t have to take the Chelsea comment seriously but the fact is that in the last right years Chelsea had win trophy after trophy. Our shit team with delusional manager has win fuck all, while we pay the most in Europe to watch average players pay tippy tappy in affective football… Lets all just thank spurs for bottling it .

  23. rico says:

I read that i/v from Fabianski saying he’s up for the fight, but he’s out of contract in a few weeks…

Mannone, well the sooner he goes the better…

  24. rico says:

Foolish, don’t think Arry will have much say in the matter, the owner wants a few off the books…

Every summer it’s silly season here, it is most places isn’t it?

Wavy, law of averages says one of the rumours will be right, probably N’Zonzi 😉

  25. rico says:

Fed Up, I totally understand your comment and struggle to disagree really, but I’d hate us to be run like Chelsea, having a new manager every ten mins just because the owner or JT is upset with who they have at the time.

Look at right now, Rafa just secured the Europa Cup, they came third and he’s off – Di Matteo before him won the CL but then gets the sack..

That’s not the right way to run a club surely…….

  26. potter says:

I don’t get the Rosicky should go lobby. On one hand everyone talks about experience to bring on the youngsters and that’s a box he ticks. When he is on the pitch he brings a dynamism to the team and is often the only one carrying the ball forward , he tackles back and closes down in midfield , If you get 20 -25 games a season out of him , what more do you want ? Rather him than Denilson , Diaby et al.

  27. agirlagunner says:

Boo!! The silly season is well and truly underway. 😉 Guess we can tick off all possibility of getting Neymar in. 😀

Morning, rico! The CL finals sent you to snoozeland, eh? Reus was really good last night, hasn’t he been linked to us as well? Hello, Wavy. 😉

Welcome to all first-time posters. 🙂 Fed Up, there seems to be such instability at Chelsea; I do not want our club to be run like theirs. Certainly, our club needs to loosen the purse strings though.

  28. W.A.T.H says:

Happy St Thomas’s Day everyone…. Thank you Michael 😉 Anfield 89..!

Rico, think yu’ll find Fabianski has another year left, Monnone is out of contract this summer..!

  29. W.A.T.H says:

Quite funny reading all the transfer gossip in the comics this morning, Sorry, I mean in the papers….!.

They contradict each other from one comic to the next, really is funny..!.

So after watching last night does anyone have any players they’d like us to buy..?

  30. Wavy says:

Wath, I echo Le Chef’s view – Gundogan would be the only Dormand player I would chose. Well him and the goalkeeper Weidenfeller and Subotic, oh and Schmelzer and at a push, Lewendowski, and from the münchen lot, only Alaba.
That’s it really. Not many, eh?
How many of that list will invade Rico’s dreams, I wonder?

  31. W.A.T.H says:

Rooney over Cesc anyday for me AGAG, I think Cesc looks like he needs a good “WASH” these days…!

  32. W.A.T.H says:

Wavy, quite amazing that Weidenfeller has never represented Germany in goal… Are their keepers that good at the moment..?

  33. W.A.T.H says:

I aslo can’t see us buying the right back either seeing as they say after his operation he will be out until Christmas…! Cross him off the silly season links list..!
Gundagon, very good player about 2/3 inches not tall enough for me though… I want someone with a bit more of a physical presence in our spine but who can also play ball..! Not to much to ask for surely lol LD

  34. agirlagunner says:

Wavy, for me it would be Reus, Hummels, Subotic. Between us, we’d have gone for most of Dortmund. 😀

Rooney edges Cesc in the well-groomed category cos he has no hair to wash, WATH. 😛 Who would you go for? I was unimpressed by how easily Bayern players went to ground.

  35. rico says:

Hi agag, it did, but watched bits of it…

Wath, really, I didn’t know that about Flappy, in which case, I suspect we should forget any idea of us signing a keeper..

Potter – I too would keep Rosicky as a squad player. Suspect Wenger will too…

  36. rico says:

None will Wavy. I don’t believe the rumours any more than you do, I just pass on the garbage from the media…

Not a lot else to write about at the moment….

Happy St Thomas day to all too….

  37. agirlagunner says:

Potter, I agree about keeping Rosicky. Very technical, always drives the team forward, gets stuck in…

rico, I wanted Robben to have a stinker… instead… Bummer.

  38. W.A.T.H says:

I’m sure it was TS who made mention the other day that Fabbianski has another year left Rico….. Someone on here brought it up..! Time will tell..!

AGAG, the fact that Robben n Ribery are such good players yet resort to diving and cheating and generally being utter tosspots on the pitch leaves me wanting to kick the pair of them in the nuts…! Throw in Muller and you have the 3 leading lights in a new makeover of swan lake and getting shot from the stands….!

Reus had a good first half but faded 2nd half, I really like Lewandowski but seems he’s already a done deal for Bayern as well. I still think we need a proper width and there are many many good players in Germany and their work ethic and attitude on the pitch is top notch normally.

  39. rico says:

I can’t see us being a temptation for any player from either Bayern or Dortmund, unless a player is only interested in money.

  40. Foolishgooner says:

Rico. Experienced goal keeper who is motivated to play for Brazil! No brainier you would think? Arry’s hatred well jealousy plus Arsene’s blind faith well insanity could only prevent H Cesar winning points and silverware for the gunners next season. He would probably play for Fulham next campaign. Lets hope you are right and QPR want few quads for Cesar.

  41. W.A.T.H says:

Foolish, rumour has it that Ceasar has a penchant for sticking certain substances up his hooter….!?!?!?

  42. rico says:

I think everyone did agag, but as much as I can’t stand the cheating runt, he is a top player on his day…

I must have missed that about Flappy Wath. I so hoped we’d get a keeper finally…

  43. rico says:

    Mostly Arsene’s blind faith I think Foolish……

Serious Wath, what, carrots or something 😉

On that note, just going to get my runner bean sticks in and i’ll be back…

  44. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning guys.
Rumours…..we all hate them, but thank god for them at this time of year 🙂

  45. W.A.T.H says:

Ah Scott, glad your here…. Come on fella fill me in on the news……… When Is Lionel signing whats the info from your contact…? 😉

  46. Scott from Oz says:

It is done Wath…..just waiting for the Neymar thing to be done before it is announced.

  47. W.A.T.H says:

Good stuff Scott, ta mate…. I have the champers on ice ready for the big press conference..!

  48. agirlagunner says:

rico, your 11:23 is so spot on, it’s almost funny. 🙁 🙁

The last thing we need is someone who sticks things up his hooter, WATH. Ick. 🙂

But how much would Cesar cost, Foolish?

  49. agirlagunner says:

Hello, Scott. 🙂 🙂 Are your sources reliable? 😉 I thought we were going for C. Ronaldo. Wenger reckons he was the one who got away… 😉

WATH, Bayern really are Barca 2.0; diving, whining, playacting. Tsk. Oh, and they are getting Pep, too.

  50. Wavy says:

Agag, between us we have all the Dortmund set. I reckon £70m will just about cover ot. Great times ahead!
Cesc before Vain, absolutely, but neither will be wearing the red and white of Arsenal next year.
Not Cesc because he broke the Boss’ heart. wenger never forgets and never forgives, so CF4
Vain Woonee won’t be here either. How could he take such a massive pay cut Certainly not for footballing reasons!

I hear Diaby is nearly fit……………just after Xmas 2014! Another “new signing” then.

  51. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to the Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in rseidence.

    W.A.T.H – Regards your 10:53 am

I think you had it right the first time with “comics”. The newspapers, at least the sports sections, are no more or no less truthful than a Roy of the Rovers comic strip. A sad state of affairs.

  52. Canadian Gooner says:

W.A.T.H – Whether TV goes or stays, I think we need another CB. I’d take Subotic from BVB.

  53. W.A.T.H says:

Scott….. Messi… Messi… It’s Messi with an M not an “N” WTF is going on how can you do this to me…?

Mornin CG, Yes the comics do give us a chuckle…!

  54. W.A.T.H says:

I have always liked Subotic CG, the only thing I have always questioned was his pace…! We still lack a bit of pace in central defence is Kos don’t play..!

  55. Canadian Gooner says:

W.A.T.H – Regarding your “three leading lights” in filed diving. Maybe Bayern Munchen brought in Jurgen Klinsman as a diving coach. There was none better outside of the pool at the Olympic finals.

  56. Scott from Oz says:

No Wath, it is the slightly cheaper, much younger, more injury prone but nearly as talented version of Messi with an N..so close…

  57. agirlagunner says:

Scott, spurious sources = “spurces”. 😆

Brother CG, I take umbrage at your comment. 😛 😛 I like tidy (Reus), elegant (Hummels) players is all. 😀

Wavy, I can’t see Shrek in our AFC colors either. He should stick to green. 😀

  58. W.A.T.H says:

It’s far worse than that CG, I need more than Colombians finest…. Scott has broken my heart… It was set on Messi…………

Adam won’t be able to buy those gold spandex n diamond sequined strides now…!

  59. Canadian Gooner says:

Sister AGAG – I stand corrected. So, it is a definite no the Shrek II, I meen Vain Wooney then.

  60. W.A.T.H says:

I may just have to ban Scott for leading me astray with such mischievous lies about us buying Lionel…! I cannot see how I will cope lasting the rest of the summer being so heartbroken..!

  61. Canadian Gooner says:

W.A.T.H – I guess we’ll have to send Grandad over to console you in this time of need.

  62. W.A.T.H says:

CG, we been linked with them both mate….! As a package deal or individually not sure but Grenier looks to be a little like Mr Pires..! If only…!

  63. Canadian Gooner says:

W.A.T.H – Mad? Your not the first, nor probably the last to call me that, but I thought he could help. I see now that I was wrong, not for the first time either.

  64. W.A.T.H says:

CG, you should know by now that Grandad is money mad… he would console me for sure but boy will I get charged for it… plus triple time on a Sunday lol

  65. Canadian Gooner says:

All kidding aside, I think Arsene will make one, maybe two, marquee signings this summer. The rest will probably be young up and comers with real potential like Grenier and possibly a veteran like the keeper Julio Cesar. The top signings being a striker and a midfielder.

  66. Canadian Gooner says:

W.A.T.H – Does he charge you a flat rate or put you on the meter like his taxi fares?

  67. Scott from Oz says:

I read a quote earlier from Wenger stating we will not be selling any of our top players and will be making 3 significant new signings.
I guess our question will be what he classes as significant.
Would we be happy if he spent the supposed 70 million on 3 guys?

  68. Wavy says:

Cg 12.04, have you listened to the wind? It’s going clippit Klopp clippity Klopp. I think it is a portent of the future? Maybe next year though?

  69. devilgunner says:

    Good Afternoon Lady and Gentlemen.

Rooney, Cesc, Cesar, Lowton, Gonalons, Grenier, Williams …….IN.

TommyV, Djourou, Squilli, Chamack, Arshavin, Bendy, Denilson, etc etc ………….OUT.

  70. devilgunner says:

    Team of HH

    Lady Rico
    Scott, WATH,Kev,Agag
    CG, ESP
    Micko, Adam, Dev
    Wavy.

We’ll beat the shit out of everyone. 😉

  71. NashuaGunners says:

Good Afternoon Rico and to all you fine folks

70 Millions… I’ll believe it when I see it. until then AW has to go to battle with what he has. My dream for next season is that Silence Stan will be persuaded to sell his shares when the right offers is put on the table.

  72. NashuaGunners says:

@dg, TV5 out??? Just because he has one bad season??? how many bad seasons Kos had???

  73. Wavy says:

In fairness I think the first team are not that far away from the top now. I actually believe that man for man, with two exceptions they are better than manure! Where we/they fall short is the depth of the squad. The bench os not as good as manure’s that more than anything else is where we have fallen short. That, and our manager’s strange faith in individual players, his blind spots, though not recently but Ebooay was one such, and Santos definitely. I mean what, apart from blind panic persuaded him to buy the brazilian? Etc etc.
We just need a couple of quality signings and then………?

Off now for a bit. Got to give my bean sticks a bit of a rub down! Rico reminded me!

  74. devilgunner says:

    On the serious side now.

    Mignolet.

    Yes and no.

Yes because he is proven quality. He is belgian and might also help Tommy V since he plays behind him. I dare say that if AW bought in another belgian to play alongside TommyV plus Mignolet and removed the captaincy, Tommy will regain all his old confidence and we would have four good centrebacks. But if AW got Williams then TommyV will be sold.

And NO because Mignolet is not yet a winner. He does not know what it means to cross the line and win a cup.

  75. Canadian Gooner says:

DG – Thanks for the compliment of including me in the HH teamlist. As for “We’ll beat the shit out of everone”. That may depend on what the game is.

  76. W.A.T.H says:

CG, yes mate Grandad has no qualms in “loading” the fair on me and then still adding triple time…! 😉

If we do the maths on the finances the 70million is a minimum that is available to spend, it looks far more like 100million but the other side of that is we obviously don’t want others thinking we have bundles to spend but being sensible they will also know this.
when you throw in the salaries beng freed up by the deadwood leaving and the out of contract players you can safely say we have between 400/500k a week in wages available before we even tap into excess funds to cover salaries of new players. You do not have to look to closely to see these figures are pretty much accurate… the sole question for me is will Arsene spend whats available…?

  77. W.A.T.H says:

Dev, you think not being a winner really makes that much of a difference regarding Mignolet, Seaman wasn’t a winner til he joined us..!

  78. devilgunner says:

I thought about that beforehand and knew that someone would ask me that question. But Seaman was surrounded by those who had already won something……and that helped a lot. He had the winners of 1987, 1989. So he had a good hand in that. But Mignolet has no one who has won at AFC.

  79. W.A.T.H says:

They will win together Dev, they must break their cherries together 😉
Success breeds success and that should make them hungry for more..! It’s why I want Rooney…!

  80. NashuaGunners says:

W.A.T.H. My question or concern is, would Silence Stan or The Board demand that AW upgrade and produce better result with Trophy(s) for this season??? Or would they just play the blame game as usual, “there is money to spend if AW wants to… ”

We just can’t use Tractors parts to produce Ferraris all the time…

  81. Micko says:

Devil 1.17, that defense has no pace, the forward line looks pretty tasty though, i’m thinking a lot of 5-4’s !!!

  82. agirlagunner says:

CG, yes to the Dortmund young ‘uns. No to the ogre. 😀

WATH, don’t be so heartbroken over “Nessi”. That’s nothing that a bottle of GG won’t cure. 😉

Hi, Dev. I know nothing of Grenier or Gonalons. How good are these guys?

Hi, Nash. For 70 million, we can buy the cream of the Dortmund crop. And beat the shi** out of bayern. 😀

  83. devilgunner says:

Will soon put the centrebacks in shape. WATH will be promised a bottle of GG after each match. Kev will have triple wages on his meter. Agag will play in stiletto studs while Scott will be promised an upgrade on his mudhut depending on his performance output.

I agree………..the advanced midfielders and attack look really tasty. Especially the wingers.

  84. devilgunner says:

Gonalons and Grenier are good players. They are good on the ground and very technical.

My worries are two…………1st..will AW coach them both out of shooting long range shots and 2nd…will they adapt to the fast EPl?

  85. Micko says:

Howdy agag, but we already beat the shite out of Bayern away, talking of tasty players, why don’t we put a cheeky bid in for Reus while we’re at it, he’s quality.
We’re all gonna go bonkers if we don’t sign a player soon, some already have.

  86. W.A.T.H says:

Micko, didn’t we “apparently” look at Reus before he joined Dortmund…?

I refuse to play centre half until my agent has secured my salary AND a case of GG for the after match resuscitation…..

I’m with you on Rooney Dev….

Nash, it seems to be the first time ever that the Board/Owner/Management are saying very specifically that the money is there for Wenger to spend and he buys who he wants..!

  87. W.A.T.H says:

If the players are good enough Dev they will settle but we all know normally takes 4/5 months to get up to pace, with a decent squad it doesn’t hurt you but if they in your starting 11 week in week out you will hurt when they have bad games. We need the quality on the squad raised but we all know that. Grenier looks a very good player from what I have seen, Gonalons not seen enough of to comment.

  88. devilgunner says:

    Have a look here lads……………

French club Toulouse have finally admitted that they may have to sell star midfielder Etienne Capoue, but not before one final attempt to convince him to stay, according to talkSPORT.

Arsene Wenger has been a long time admirer of the 24-year-old and he is on the lookout for a top notch defensive midfielder after failing to replace Alex Song after he joined Barcelona last summer.

A number of top European sides are also said to be interested such as PSG, Monaco and Newcastle United, but Arsenal is thought to be his preferred target as he remains keen to test himself in the Premier League.

However, Toulouse coach, Alain Casanova is still holding on to the hope that the club may be able to convince him to stay.

“I am going to be selfish and say I wish he could stay and remain with us,” he said.

“If he does leave, we would wish him good luck after everything he has given us.”

Capoue first broke into the Toulouse squad in 2007 and has gone on to make nearly 200 appearances for the side. He is now also establishing himself as a French international, picking up the first of his five caps last year.

  89. W.A.T.H says:

I’m wasted at centre half Dev, central midfield for me mate…! Though shalt not pass…!

  90. Micko says:

Dunno wath, in fairness we’re world class at looking, it’s the bidding part we need to work on.

  91. devilgunner says:

Capoue is a beast of a midfielder. A good hard tackle in him and good in breaking up play.

Gonalons is the more tidy of the two. He can tackle but he prefers to nip the attack in the bud through his positioning and intercepting.

Ideally it would be Gonalons……….but Capoue is good as well.

  92. frednerk says:

    Afternoon All,

The silly season is now in overdrive, and as we all know,
    from experience,
deflation is just around the corner,
    It’s great to start with,
    ………….who we gunner get……..feeling.
As alway’s when the spin gets to
    breaking point…. wenger rattles out,
    my main priorty
Is to Keep What I have,
    then on the last day.
    He sell’s our captain’s.

Once again we are not bidding for the best player’s,
we seem to be compeating with the spuds and dippers,
    for second tier player’s.

Wake up wenger,we can afford to shop at Harrods.

  93. NashuaGunners says:

Hi agag, we don’t need all of Dortmund crops. We only need few to make us compete again. A proper DM, Winger to replace Gerv, and maybe Rooney but not with his outrageous salary. I’d take Johnson from Sunderland any time of the day of over TW14.

  94. devilgunner says:

It depends on the style CG. If you want Barca type football with a PIVOTE (Xavi) you go for Gonalons. If you want the Mourinho style powerplay and solidity you go for Capuoe.

Personally I like Capoue. He would be a beast. But knowing AW he will go for Gonalons to complement Aaron.

  95. Canadian Gooner says:

I’m off. I hear my bed calling my name and it has been a very long day. So, Good Morning from me and Good Afernoon and Evening to you all. Keep the Faith.

  96. Canadian Gooner says:

DG – Thank you. A very clear and concise answer. I’ll stick with Capoue, but wont be disappointed with Gonalons.

  97. W.A.T.H says:

    Cheers CG,

Micko, had a chat with someone a few weeks back who has ceetain friends within “our” organisation and the comment he made was that we have never ever had a problem with a transfer fee, the problem is when we then get quoted the salary and we would not go there not only as we refused to pay silly money but with the knock on effect of ALL the others then wanting a “bit” extra…! Made sense but what has change is the fact we seem to be looking to get rid of many of the hangers on we’ve had last few years and the realisation that we need to pay more than we have to secure top quality players. We also now know we can rely on extra commercial revenue and the new TV deal so as not to break the bank.

  98. W.A.T.H says:

Dev, they are both 6ft plus as well am I right in thinking..?

As you say why not buy both….? Mikel is in the twilight of his career would it not be a great idea to get both and thats the future covered along with Aaron & Jack seeing as TR7 and MA8 are both the wrong side of 30…!

  99. W.A.T.H says:

Nash, Johnson is a big time party boy…… Know a few mates from the North East who always he him out on the razzle…. Not a very good pro by all accounts…!

  100. devilgunner says:

Ideally both would be bought. I would have them both plus Jack and Aaron for the DM. While Arteta and Grenier would share the AM position.

  101. devilgunner says:

I still say that the amount of players registered with AFC in the past seasons was to increase the wage bill. Remember that with the FFP no club can increase the wage bill suddenly but can do so with only a 4% increase. So it makes sense to have all these players on free so that they inflate the wage bill since any club can sign how many youngsters they want. Now they are making the clear out but the wage bill for this year will remain more or less above 125 million (if I am not mistaken) So clearing the deadwood and the young ones will leave the club with a wage bill ceiling which can accomodate the likes of Shrek etc.

And I think that if faced with a choice between Grenier and Cesc AW will buy Grenier. As someone pointed out……..AW never forgets.

  102. frednerk says:

From what I’ve seen and heard so far,
    Rooney stands out.

The one thing we know for sure is,
if wenger wants to buy a player,
    he sells first or
has clubs chumping at the bit,

  103. devilgunner says:

ladies still 1-0 up. We should have had another 2 at least in the first half. Are we used to that scenario somewhere??

  104. devilgunner says:

still 1-0 up. Ladies scored in the 2nd minute.

AFC Ladies have peppered the Bristol Ladies but still 1-0 only.

  105. rico says:

Good to see the player back in the dug out Devil, albeit with a leg brace. Must mean its not so bad otherwise she would be in hospital…

  106. devilgunner says:

But it might not be urgent. Still I think she would be a bit of time out of the game. Good thing its summer now. She will get a good rest and let it heal.

  107. W.A.T.H says:

Sorry Nash has some wine drinking to do, Rooney has been led astray mate thats what I say BUT in all honesty never really affected his football… Johnson was utter shit at Citeh just got the wages and partied it all up..!

  108. rico says:

No good for her though Devil, the WSL is here and now I think? Could be wrong..

    I’ll check back…

  109. W.A.T.H says:

That’s mad eh JM………….. Why to Monaco… Only for money not for any other reason obviously.

  110. devilgunner says:

Lee is the supersub. he has been off the boil lately and as he can fit anywhere he will stay on the bench for now.

I am a bit concerned regarding the central defence. Lee will have to wait for his chance. I am sure he will grab it when its in front of him.

  111. Wavy says:

HurrH! The ladies have won a trophy for Arsenal! It is the FOURTH PLACE CUP and you know what – they can polish it too!
The open top bus can be ordered at last.

  112. devilgunner says:

    The ladies have won.

    yippppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

    They continue racking up trophies.

They are on top regarding the men.

I would give anything to see their celebrations from the final whistle to now 😉 😆

  113. GoonerEris says:

Don’t the ladies’ trophies get to stay in the same “trophy cabinet”? So. What’s all the fuss about our cabinet needing trophies these 8 years?

  114. rico says:

Devil, you just want to get in their bath 😉

GE – the scums in the media don’t see it that way… 😉

  115. devilgunner says:

The game was a scrappy one. Bristol came not to play but to keep the score down as much as possible.

It was a bit of an ugly game. Then again the lasses cannot be classified as ugly. So they made the game look more on the beautiful side.

There were some beautiful moves though. Some hips and thighs are poetry in themselves. 😉

  116. devilgunner says:

Ahh in the bath!!!! Well that is a difficult question to answer.

I would prefer to be the water itself then!!!!! 😆

  117. devilgunner says:

Diego Lopez is enjoying himself as much as he can. He knows that the moment Mourinho is out of the door Casillas will be reinstated.

    I like him though.

At the moment I am watching Barca. Fabregas is having a so and so game.

    Song???? No comment.

  118. devilgunner says:

Lopez is a good keeper. But he has the prodigal son at RM.

Do not get me wrong. Casillas is gd Rico. But I feel that Lopez is a good level also.

    Good for us or not???

I think he will add to our defence and his command in the area is also up to standard. Then again I still would prefer Cesar as I feel his age and experience are far superior. And he will make Chezzer great.

  119. allezkev says:

    Paul Pogba eh?

Ha, the usual agent inspired bollox…

It’s gonna be a long long summer of crap rumours and ultimately we’ll see nobody of substance signed…

Just the same old young potential types who Ebeneezer Kroenke can sell for a whopping profit in a few years time…

  120. allezkev says:

Now if I read on Arsenal.Com that Fabregas has been re-signed (sorry Wath) or that Higuain or Rooney or Reus or somebody with some pedigree, then I might sit up and take notice.

But this summer is gonna be the usual transfer snooze.

  121. allezkev says:

Hiya Scott. How are you Down Under?

I am good mate, having a nice day out with some relatives…

But then any day that I ain’t working is gonna be a nice day…

Another day off tomorrow and right back into the crap on Tuesday..

What about you, you camping in the Outback???

  122. allezkev says:

As for being cynical, well yes, too right I am mate.

And I’ve every right to be cynical after being sold the same line and told the same lies during the past few years. Personally I don’t believe a single word that comes out of the mouth of Wenger or Gazides, in respect of strengthening the team/squad…

I cannot say that I don’t believe a word that comes out of Ebeneezer Kroneke’s mouth as that fraud doesn’t say bugger all..

But if you want to live in hope mate, then good luck to ya, I admire your resolve.

  123. allezkev says:

I see that the President of Lyon Jean-Michel Aulas has quite ‘sensibly’ put a ‘realistic’ valuation of £31million on Grenier…

That guy is a total arse…

And those Lyon tossers have the cheek to try and take Gervinho on loan…
Whatever many AFC fans think of Gervinho, I see no point in doing any negotiating with those Lyonaise tosspots…

I’d rather see Arsenal do business with a lorry load of snakes than those Lyon arseholes…

  124. Wavy says:

Grenier ‘deal’ that kind of money is always going to be demanded when somebody announces the club has £70m to spend.
You want our player , we know what you’ve got to spend – shell out!
Is he worth it? Probably not. Don’t you just hate chancers?
Don’t you just hate loonies who declare what they say they’ve got inside their trousers? It never lives up to expectations!! All talk, no bollox! Or allternatively – big jugs, all padding!

  125. Scott from Oz says:

I must live in hope mate.
I wouldn’t worry about the price any club puts on a player.
If a player wants out, a deal will be done.
    Look at Neymar.

  126. Pk says:

Wringer is in the last chance saloon,he no longer has time.
    Here is my wish list-
GK- Julio Cesar (experienced, great competition for szczesny and could learn from him )
    DC Ashley Williams
    DM Étienne Capoue
    ST Jovetic/Rooney
And if Sagna is to leave a replacement, Micah Richard ticks the boxes for me(Quick, strong, can play DC and despite out for a long time through injury last season seems surplus to Man City needs, plus he is a confirmed Arsenal fan).
These signings coupled with our existing squad will make a strong challenge.

  127. devilgunner says:

    Good Morning Lady and Gentlemen.

Dont worry your ‘ead orf Kev habib. Santos is coming back. He will be like a ….. wait for it……A NEW SIGNING.

Yes……….even Denilson is going to be back.

    Surely NOT???

That is the left flank and DM solved.

Incredible as it may seem Chamack will strengthen the attack.

Are you being yourself today or what???

That leaves centreback. Djourou has had a change of heart and wants to fight for his place.

    AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!

4 NEW SIGNINGS. We did not dream of them ehhhhhh????

  128. rico says:

    Morning all….

Sorry for the delay Pk, first comments go into moderation and I was fast asleep 😉

  129. Hard Ogura says:

Its a pity i delayed and most guys have mixed good and rubbish stuff in there . Mignolet, there is no chance and we would better buy a qualiy defender and a defensive Middie then dispose off Mannone, Djouro, Santos, Squillince and Denilson. If Sagna leaves, then a second right defender should be brought hence 6 bodies out with 3 in plus a few promotions to learn from the experienced ones.

In the attack, attacking middies on the left and right should be searched as Walcott and Podolski are all focussed on the central front and never want to track back to cover the left and right defenders making the whole team vulnerable or exposed when we loose the ball. And one striker should be acquired, just a good finisher to support Giroud as he works so hard to hold off the defenders. These signings will replace Arshavin, Chama, Park and may be Diaby as he spends all his time on the treatment table. So 3 player in and four out.

Then some others like Gervinho could go on a loan to a team like everton, Aston Villa etc to mistreat the opponents on our behalf.
