Wenger didn’t make Ashley Cole, Adams did! Where’s the apology Arsene??

Morning all.

Well it’s all going on in the newspapers isn’t it. Some pundits reckon Wenger should stay, others are clear on it’s time for change. The mud is being flung at Alexis with Ian Holloway saying he’s a ‘selfish pig’, whilst in between there are a few strong messages fired at Stan Kroenke and the board…

Picking up an English newspaper these days isn’t much fun, it really isn’t. Alexis is being torn apart for being a guy who wants to win, Alexis Oxlade-Chamberlain wants out in the summer and there’s not only his contract to sort out but still the contracts of four others. Wenger, Wilshere, Ozil and Sanchez.

The only bit of all the above which is categorically true is Ian Holloway’s words as I heard him on TalkSport whilst driving yesterday morning yet who cares what he thinks, in fact who really cares what any of the media/pundits say or write?

Yet still it hurts us Arsenal fans because it’s a sign of what a mess our club is in. Whilst in Spain, Barcelona did last night what we can only ever dream of, even their superb comeback wasn’t enough to keep the daggers away from our club and things are not going to get any better, not unless changes are made come the end of the season.

Theo Walcott has admitted there was an incident at the training ground but he’s disappointed it’s leaked into the press. Hector Bellerin meanwhile has apologised to the fans for the Tuesday night showing.

But where’s Arsene Wenger? Why isn’t he coming out with an apology? Why aren’t the club offering refunds for all who had to witness such a shambolic two legs against Bayern? That’s what some clubs have done in the past out of respect but no, it’s much easier to blame the officials, or whichever way the wind is blowing, yet it’s the Frenchman who picks his team, makes the changes and sets them up in a way which could challenge the opposition. And I’m not just talking about when we played Bayern either so why doesn’t he stand up, be a man, and admit, he getting things wrong? Not once has he muttered the words ‘I made a mistake to leave Alexis on the bench at Anfield’, instead he tried to justify such a daft decision by suggesting Ollie was better in the air on corners which is rich bearing in mind our players haven’t a clue how to deliver a good one into the box.

And what about in defence? We said after the game on Tuesday that when Koscielny got sent off, you don’t bring on a player who is useless at defending, you bring on a defender and we had two sat on the bench. School boy errors from a man who likes to tell us how long he’s been in the game. Well all I can say is for someone whose been in the game so long, he doesn’t know a toot about defending. And before anyone slaps me down, have a read of Ray Parlours book. He said that when Ashley Cole was coming through into the first team, it was Tony Adams who coached him how to defend because Wenger didn’t know how to, or something like that…

Yet with one of our best defenders over the years sat by Wenger’s side, we still don’t improve.

Perhaps because Wenger doesn’t let him do what Tony Adams used to do and talking of which, why haven’t the likes of him or Martin Keown been called upon to help out as I’m sure both would jump at the chance to be back involved at the club they both love. It might not work but at least give it a try instead of sticking with the same old coaching staff he’s had since the day he arrived as like him, they are old and out of ideas imo.

We’ve said many a time that Fergie had so much success during his reign because he was smart. He’d changed his assistant many times and listened to what knowledge they brought with them and had Wenger done the same, just maybe he wouldn’t be in the position he finds himself in right now.

From the managers conference. Danny Welbeck and Alex Iowbi are both suffering with a stomach bug as is Ozil who after the game on Tuesday felt ill. He said too much has been made of Walcott’s recent comment about what’s been going on in training and then followed that up by suggesting that it’s not always the happiest group of players who are successful. He was shocked to hear Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain wants to leave and hopes that will not be the case.

As for his own future, he still hasn’t decided but he did hint that if the fans aren’t happy, he would take their views into consideration before making his mind up….

But getting whooped 10-2 by Bayern Munich over two legs, won’t….

I will listen to the fans but that’s not the most important thing was the quote I heard.

    He is staying.

  2. rico says:

That’s right Potter, exactly what he said. He also said he hopes Ox stay when asked if the both of them will be at the club… But he didn’t say he would… lol

Half the problem, everything he says is open to interpretation…

  3. rico says:

Lc, I wouldn’t blame him if he wants to go. We just know Ox will be pushed aside now Ramsey is back… Yet is should be Iwobi or even Ozil who who gets a rest imo.

  4. Marshall says:

Had a feeling Suarez earned a dubious penalty which uefa were happy to grant. There should be a rule where video replay even after a game and shows a player dived, they are automatically deemed as the loosing team. I loath simulations… most south american players are guilty of this one..and Robben who’s taught Lewandowski well.

    Morning Rico and All

Many years ago I was at a Millwall v Stoke game.
    Watching mainly Steve Bould..Not impressed
    Next day GG signed him.

For me Big Tone was the man at the back.
About a season had gone by me and brother
were sitting next to an old boy.
He clapped every tackle Bouldy made.
I said to him…” is that your son mate”
He looked at me and said
“He is the best defender I ever seen at this club”

After that telling off I never took my eye’s of Bouldy.
He was an animal, not many got away from him twice.
Harder than any player I have seen at The Arsenal.
    Very underrated.

When he finished playing and got into coaching
Arsene picked him instead of Paul Davis to be our
youth coach and got accused of Racialism.

I can never understand why people think he is a
    useless Nob..
His bread’s buttard for now …
But’s that how it is under this lot,as long as the
    cash is rolling in……..Who care’s

Someone once said to me Arsene tell’s
the Tea-Lady what bag’s to buy.

  6. Wavy says:

And there Rico you have the conundrum that is Wenger. He is too partial with those he likes and disloyal to those he doesn’t. I’ve no idea why he has “favourites” but he certainly seems to. Ox is not a favourite, perhaps his dad has had too much influence over the boy, perhaps young Alex had the temerity to stand up for himself and seem to not listen to Wenger’s sagacity, bearing in mind Wenger is omnikmowledgeable! Who knows why Wenger takes against one of his squad, but he does. And serially too. Debuchy, Gibbs, Jack, etc etc, recently and plenty of others in the past, notably Viera, Henry, Seaman, etc, etc. He’s a very unforgiving man once he takes against a player that’s curtains.
I’d stake my next posh dinner on the fact that the old wrinkly one will still be attached to the Arsenal harness. He will find a couple of reasons why he shouldn’t go and find another nice new meadow to sit in and leave us all alone. He can’t let go! It’s not uncommon but ma realist knows when his time has come to pack up the contents of his desk and head out of the building, and if he’s really lucky, with his head held high. Sadly he’s beginning to smell like three or four day old fish! A guest who has now outstayed his welcome but ignores all advice, all hints, all demonstrations of discontent and just carries on regardless. The man has become delusional.
Sad, very sad. All this, imo!

Morning all. Sunny, blue skies but windy here

  7. rico says:

Morning Fred. I loved him as a player but now he’s just like all the rest imo. He’s fallen under Wenger’s spell and I bet it’s killing him inside. Left alone, I’m convinced he’d be able to improve our defending…

  8. rico says:

Certainly all seems that way Wavy and to think all could have been different had he done things differently… Stubborn old toad!

  9. Meerkat says:

Just like some of the players, Bould needs to grow a pair. He will be unemployed when Arsene goes, and that is down to him.
If he had any professional pride, he would just tell it like it is, not just be a yes man for the sake of the money. Perhaps Le Prof would respect him more if he stood up and said it like it is. Perhaps not, but if he left after falling out with the manager he would soon get another job. Not after this showing though. So, I hope he has feathered his nest enough to retire!

The board should step in now after seeing the fans demo’s, and tell Arsene, thanks, but we have decided a change is required.
After years of giving him the benefit of the doubt, things have deteriorated, not improved. He was probably under the impression that everyone was happy with the fab 4th spot every year. Wrong.

Another thing that is wrong, is that he is being allowed to decide. He will also probably be involved in choosing his successor eventually. Even Fergie got that wrong when he decided Moyes was his heir apparent. Plus he knew when to go, when the team were were struggling. He had a lucky title that final year, with an average, aging team, ripe for the taking if we had stood up to the plate.

Whatever happens, I think we will struggle to make top four now, so no farcical run in corrupt CL next season whoever is in charge. (All just IMO of course;-)

  10. potter says:

At the ill fated West Ham cup final there was one banner in the other end that made me chuckle it said . Devonshire is the cream – Rice is the pudding.

Had to hand it to whoever it was a good one.

But to lose to a ball hitting Brooking on the head !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. ScottfromOz says:

Who’d have thought Bould would remain so quiet?
Then, why employ someone and not allow them to do their job?
    Then there’s…..
    And…..
Too many bloody questions surrounding the joint!

  12. kelsey says:

    Morning all.

Just announced on LBC that Wenger has said he will make a decision on his future at end of season and that protests are not important to him.
    What should be done?

This is becoming ridiculous he really is his own master and changes his mind every few days.

Many of the team who all earn well are publically saying they want him to stay, others the big guns clearly want out.
What has happened to our club,we are a laughing stock not The Proper Arsenal I grew up with.

  13. kelsey says:

    Sorry re wrote the above

I am totally confused. If the majority of the players who are big wage earners want AW to stay why are they playing so poorly and wanting to keep their place, whilst perhaps 2 or 3 of the really high earners are causing a stir and appear to want out, which may mean nothing in terms of Wenger staying or not.All I know and so do most of us is that we are in a mess and a laughing stock to many,By all accounts Wenger’s arrogance has overtaken him, his loyalty before form is well known and he knows he won’t get sacked.(Nice work if you can get it)

  14. potter says:

Seems simple to me ,some are motivated by money and with him they are assured of good earnings a quiet life. Others want to win things and realise that it is unlikely that they will so they want to screw everything they can if they are to stay.
Which ever way it goes , things are about to get interesting if he stays I would think 3 or 4 will want to leave and we will have to replace them and probably lose financially in the process. Should he go however apart from having to pay up the contracts of his backroom staff another different 3 or four will want out and the new man will want his own team and have to replace the players too. Whichever way it goes the club will tread water , I doubt that there is a magic wand that will solve all immediately.

  15. allezkev says:

    Afternoon All

    Afternoon Rico

Wenger is going to stay, David Ornstein said it on the BBC yesterday and he is ‘Arsenal’s man in the media’, so all that nonsense about Wenger telling the players he was going and all the other false rumours are just that, fantasy…

    It’s all about the money…

Arsenal are not a football club anymore…

They ceased being a football club when Kroenke became the major shareholder, thanks to that idiot Nina Bracewell-Smith…

    Arsenal are a business, that’s all, a business…

  16. rico says:

    Afternoon Kev.

Wenger said this morning too that the stuff about telling the players was rubbish, mid you, I think we all expected it would be, especially as The Star was reporting it…

She certainly sold out to the wrong man, and she’s admitted it since I think…

  17. allezkev says:

Yes Rico, I think she has admitted it since, but that doesn’t help us, she is a mong…
She didn’t need to sell, she could have sat on her shares and watched how it went…

  18. allezkev says:

Wenger is gonna stay, it’s all about his ego, for Kroenke it’s all about the money, frankly the whole situation makes me fcuking sick…

As for Josh Kroenke, doesn’t he want Thierry Henry to be Arsenal’s next manager?

Now that is the twerp that is set to take over from his boring father.

  19. Adam says:

I just watched the latest press conference and what Wenger seems to be overlooking, along with Chips Keswick, are the calamitous results. They seem to think that the fans have gone unpleasantly and rather unjustly sour, but make no concession to the pathetic capitulation in the league and the CL. What is Wenger actually basing his decision on? He refers everything to the fact that he has diligently and loyally worked at Arsenal for over 20 years as if that somehow means that everything is going to plan. They just can’t seem to grasp that most want him gone because he isn’t doing very well, the club has been overtaken, is stale and he has made far too many bad decisions. We don’t need a kindly, loyal surrogate father. We need a top, professional manager who can go toe to toe with the best teams.

  20. rico says:

Does everyone like Wenger though? I think there’s a few players at the club who like us, are fed up with him…

If he does stay, that’s Alexis gone…

  21. Mabo says:

I must say it’s even hard to try and make out what goes on in Wenger’s mind. His decision is not best for the club it’s best for him. At the moment he is sucking out all the passion in our lives and as you have quoted him very little that the fans do matters to him.

Imagine that some of us loose our heads a thousand miles away from the Emirates and will never get to grace it before we are called home. However those that get to the stadium represent us in all they do and Wenger could not care less what we all feel.

Some of us only know Wenger as an Arsenal manager due to the time we got exposed to Arsenal and the Epl. Now he made us love him and the club so respectable in all he and the club did. Both have lost the plot and a feeling is the new manager will definitely bring enough excitement so much that things must somehow work. It must be tried it has to be. A lot of the time I digress

  22. Adam says:

Rico. I hope that’s not the case. If he carries on and a few bad results start the season, the hole will be even deeper.

  23. potter says:

As do I Adam, I really do. It’s clear we are going to lose a few players in the summer if he stays, so I wouldn’t trust him to replace them – not for one bit. He’ll need to spend big too and there’s little chance of him doing that imo…

  25. Wavy says:

It feels as if we are sinking into the black hole that Hammond the cash referred to in yesterday’s budget. He was alluding to old crinkly Corbyn who at 67 is exactly the same age as our own wrinkly one. Not wishing to be too political here but the parallels in age, character, Woolley minded thinking, a complete lack of objectives and a blind spot where their own talents now lie and indeed their own futures, is stark in the closeness of their current positions. To summarise they are both utterly past their sell by dates and are both totally unsuited to the jobs they currently occupy.
The world really has become a place I don’t think I understand anymore. Justice, morality, honesty, where have they disappeared to?

  26. frednerk says:

If it really is in Arsene’s hand’s
It could be down to the Season Ticket Holder’s
    maybe?

My opinion is he wants to see the season out.

  27. allezkev says:

My son and his two mates are season ticket holders, if they give up their tickets it’s probable that they won’t get them back…

It’s a conundrum for them and it shouldn’t really be lumped on them…

Maybe Arsenal supporters should get rid of their SKY Sports or BT Sports package, in protest, as their subscriptions are helping to top up Kroenkes bank account as much as the season ticket holders.

It’s difficult, most of us have invested a lot of ourselves in following Arsenal.

  28. rico says:

If Wenger stays Kev, I’ll probably cancel both as I won’t be watching Arsenal that’s for sure… unless by some miracle he hires new coaches and has a big summer spend up… ?

  29. Le Coq Monster says:

We beat The Spuds in the FA Cup Final and as Wenger walks around the pitch he parades a banner to the fans saying…..Au Revoir………………………….I also have fantasies about menage a trois and none of them come true either !…………..Sacre fcuking bleu !

  30. Le Coq Monster says:

Wenger said he “tried” to sign Mbappe last year !…………….you know the same “tried” he did for Messi, Ronaldo, Ibrahimobitch, Kante etc etc etc………..he`s quite consistent in his failings at trying !……….probably the best tried failing`s by any manager at any time ever !……………..then there`s the one`s who he “made” who then left !………..that`s another story !

  31. ScottfromOz says:

    Morning all.
Results, debates, questions over players dutures etc etc etc
The very worst thing is fans from all over the world and now laughing at the club, the manager and it’s fans.
I’ve always been on the end of banter when we lose, but when I start getting mates who support other teams genuinely asking what’s going wrong, then it’s hard to think anything else but the club is in dire straits-nor that it was in question for us fans.
The spotlight is on Arsene more than ever and he really has one route to take and that’s leaving.
Stan is showing more and more who liable he is by doing nothing.
If he’s not seeing what’s happening then the prick is sleeping 24 hours a day, and if Arsene can’t make the right call, then surely the yank must.
Is he really that isolated from the goings on at the place-it’s impossible, surely!!!
Potter, I may well send them an email but it is every chance of not being accepted lol
Such a mess we find ourselves in.
    SOMEONE TAKE CONTROL!!!

  32. Le Coq Monster says:

It would be typical that we got them in a Final, Rico, when they have their best ever team and we are in decline !………………the stress would kill me if we got them in a final, I`d have to be locked away somewhere ! hahaha

  33. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    Morning all,

It doesn’t sound too good what’s happening @ The Arsenal. Oh well, whatever happens I’ve still got my ticket to The Emirates. Apparently, so I’ve been told, it’s in the section where they eat prawn sandwiches, whatever that means?

Anyway, footy starts in 2 weeks, & having an apartment a km down the road from the gr8est sporting precinct in the world, in Richmond, I might get plenty of use this season. Hope we don’t make the Grand Final, I’ll be in North London that day?

Keep the faith everyone, one day he will leave. Up the Arse!!!!

  34. rico says:

As always said Scott, they are all culpable for the mess the club is in…..

I hope they get knocked out before then Lc, but like us, the FA Cup is all they really have left. That and finishing above us of course…

  35. Le Coq Monster says:

Winning the league at Shite Hart Lane twice is something special, but to beat them in an FA Cup Final would be the cherry on the cake for me !……………….I could die a happy man, plus it would be somewhat very arousing seeing Spud Fans crying down Wembley way !…………..most men fantasise about dyiing on the job, but that would beat it hands down ! hahaha

  36. Le Coq Monster says:

Hey Gnarley, I thought you were coming to the South West !……………to see the real Launceston !

    🙂

  37. frednerk says:

Scott you think you get a stick.

    Try living in London mate.

Down the gym yesterday 3 effing fat bastards
    with spuds shirt’s on.
In the dressing room the 3 of them stripped off
all 3 Covered in spuds tats top to bottom
    slagging the Gooner’s big style.

Lucky I’m an old git tattoo’s not my year.

  38. ScottfromOz says:

Fred, I wasn’t suggesting I have it hard.
Just pointing out that mates here with often just a small interest in the League are feeling bloody sorry for me lol
That’s disgraceful for a club the size of Arsenal.
I hope your eyesight can be restored 🙂

  39. micko says:

Fred 7.34, that’ll be the new machine down the gym, the one with the coke and crisps in it lol…Yiddo’s…Yiddo’s.

The difference between us and tottenham, we have a trophy room, they have a trophy cabinet.

    Nite rico.

  40. Wath says:

Seems Chips has fried his brain…. As if a carpet mogul knows anything about a football club… Another one totally out of touch with reality and the fan base…!

  41. Wavy says:

Wath, he knows his weft from his warn! And his Axminster is second to none!
From what the old chap said I think we are looking at two further years of our now non competitive manager. In the meantime the board and Stan , Stan the syrup man are going to milk the club for al let hey can take out of it and they wil leave with Wenger into a very well padded golden handshakes!

  42. Marshall says:

    Morning all.
When another doltish person like Chips enters the forays, I got a feeling it will have a disappointing end for the fans. Or he’s just talking to save face he still has control on things Arsenal, and we all know he doesn’t have any.

  43. Wath says:

Maybe a better one is : Sir Chips waffles…….. is his brain fried..!

Sorry, that’s really bad plus Scott still ain’t resigned either, the sheep are scared, very scared..!

  44. Adam says:

Morning Rico. It’s inevitable that, whenever a board member opens his mouth, it will be nonsense and selfish twaddle that is spewed out. Forget what Wenger has done and concentrate on what he is likely to do with another 2 years. It is after all a contract for the future. Will he win the PL of the CL in that time? Unlikely I would say. All this “I will make my decision for the good of the club” is diversionary bullshit. He has had excellent opportunities over the last dozen or so seasons and has blown out every time. What is likely to change?

  45. Lee says:

PSG shat themselves the other night and fucked it royally……perfect fit for Wenger!

    Make it happen, please….

  46. Adam says:

Morning Lee. Where a new contract is being considered, surely there has to be a dispassionate view taken at some level? It is ridiculous to offer an incredibly important position to anybody based on sentiment alone. The club is screaming out for change. Building a new team at Arsenal needs a fresh, dynamic approach.

  47. ScottfromOz says:

    Morning guys.
Rico, what would happen if he went to PSG and won the CL?
Unlikely-ok, but let’s not forget that only one manager wins it each year so it’s hardly easy, but if he does………
I’d say he’s more chance with them than he is with us because he’d surely have one job and one job only at that club.
They’d never let him wear 12 hats like Arsenal do, would they?
We are the only club worth two bob who allow such a situation to evolve.

  48. ScottfromOz says:

Well it would certainly say plenty about Arsenal, Rico.
Probably won’t join them, nor win it anyway.

  49. rico says:

Hopefully he’ll join them but he’d never win the CL, not the way he approaches the game…

Funny thing is though, if doing all these other jobs he’s doing at Arsenal are holding him back, why hasn’t he relinquished many of those responsibilities? The answer imo is that he hasn’t because he’s a control freak….

  50. Marshall says:

Having a crack at a competition 20 times in 20 years and coming out empty every time, either shows yo never learn about it or you’re simply incapable of winning it. A loser

  51. rico says:

He’s incapable imo, regardless of who he has in the squad.

If he knew how to play in Europe, the Invincibles squad would have won it…

  52. rico says:

    🙂 Marshall/Lee.

No Scott, but passionate and imaginative ones do and Wenger isn’t one of those any more….

    New post up now…
