Wenger denies striker approach! Getting nervous?

Morning all,

Getting nervous yet?

Me too….

Forget the Rooney rumours, if of course you gave them much thought in the first place:

At the moment we have no interest in anybody. We have only one interest, which is of course Sunday’s game.

I don’t know if Man United will sell Rooney and that is the best sign to show you we have not made any approach for him because the first move is to contact Manchester United, which we did not do. At the moment we are focused on Sunday.

He’s a fibber isn’t he, yesterday he also said:

We are advanced with him, but it’s not done. I’m very confident (it will be done).

He’s a young striker who is promising. He has some talent. Big talent.

No, that’s not in relation to Rooney, but Yaya Sanogo.

Andrew Gibney is the Daily Mirror’s so-called Ligue 1 ‘expert’ has written a report on the player who looks quite likely to be heading to The Emirates. The entire article is here if you are interested in reading.

Just a few comments of his though are these:

Sanogo is an impressive physical specimen, with his size and imposing strength

He also brings speed and an electric quickness that can terrify defenders.

Still to fully develop he is already very athletic, similar to Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke.

He attributes his technical skills to the endless five-a-side matches during his time as a child at CO Les Ulis, the same side where Thierry Henry started his career.

Blessed with a good first touch – not just with his feet – he is very capable of holding the ball up with his back to goal much like current Gunner Olivier Giroud.

Unlike Giroud, Sanogo can then also use his muscle and explosive speed to burst past his defender and finish confidently.

The downside is his last two years have been hit by injury. That’s the worry but he’s young and strong and it could be that his body can repair and he’ll go on to have a good career with us.

As long as this signing isn’t to be seen by the club as our strike force saviour, and he’s not going to be paid a silly wage, then ok, take a chance. But, if it doesn’t work out, we need to be in a position to sell him on easily, not get left lumbered with him like we have been with so many…

With Bendtner, Chamakh and Arshavin all likely to depart, a pacey young striker who “when fit is excellent” according to Gibney, then I’m all prepared to give him a chance…

Maybe after tomorrow, Arsene Wenger will make that approach to Manchester United and get us Wayne Rooney because relying on a player who has scored 16 goals in 24 games  isn’t good enough….

Not when it’s taken four seasons to tot up those 24 appearances…..

That’s it for another day….

Good morning everyone. Anyone heard the Dzeko rumors? Personally I think he could really do a job for us. I think he’s a better finisher than Giroud, although many wouldn’t agree, as people think he is too similar to Giroud.

  2. ArsenalDK says:

Also still holding my fingers crossed regarding Begovic. But I suspect Wenger to stick to what we currently have

  3. agirlagunner says:

Boo! Hello, rico. Howdy? ADK, I’d rather Dzeko over Roney. But it’s really Torres that I think we need. 😳

  4. rico says:

    Hi agag, how are you?

Either would be good, in fact any of those three would be a vast improvement to our forward line…

  5. agirlagunner says:

I am well. Busy because I’m going on hols soon. 🙂 How’s the woofa?
Are the Totts playing tonight? It’s must lose for them. 😀 😀

  6. rico says:

Good to hear that agag, hols time already? 😉

No re the Totts, every team plays at 4pm uk time tomorrow….

  7. Joaquim moreira says:

    good morning everyone!
    Dzeko rumour? No
A.Madrid won the Spanish cup yesterday. End of line for a few R. Madrid players and J. Mourinho

  8. agirlagunner says:

I haven’t been on one since December, rico. 😛 What has happened to me?? 😀

Adam, eeeek. Mrs Rooney will be after your red jeans if you’re not careful. 😛

  9. Micko says:

    Morning all,
Staggering to think we have to scout the French 2nd division for a promising young striker.
Yaya, Wellington Silva and Joel Campbell, take your pick, all the future of Arsenal…….zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Lucky underpants ironed and ready for tomorrow.

  10. rico says:

    Morning Adam..

Rooney for me, his hair has made all the difference to his smile…

Morning JM, a couple of red cards too I read. Ronaldo is reported to be heading to Chelesa with Mourinho??

  11. Adam says:

The Mirror reckon we are going to sign Brazilian chubster Julius Ceasar. He’s on a free so I think we must concede that there may be some truth in this.
When asked ‘Arry Relegation Redknapp twitched uncontrollably for a minute and then, lifting is multiple chins above his collar, said “E’s a T’riffic ‘ keeper. Now where’s my effin’ money?”

  12. agirlagunner says:

rico, I’m not out until next month, too. Haha. Can’t wait to be off!

I just cannot get over my dislike of Rooney…

  13. rico says:

What do The Mirror know eh 😉

But free, chunky and Brazilian, haven’t we been there before 😉

I wanted Pique to lump Song 😉

  14. George says:

    Good morning all,

Sanogo… is that our cheaper version of Zaha?

Why shop in Waitrose when you get the same quality from Lidl?

As for Dzeko, Villa , Higuain, Jovetic,Shrek, Torres etc…I very much doubt we will get any of them.

We will be fine if LP9 improves his workrate, and OG12 his finishing. Both could really use some sprint sessions as they’re a tad slower than your average premier league striker.

  15. Adam says:

Agag. Holidays will be later in the year for me I think. Europa League qualification will mean long trips to Eastern Europe and the Arctic Circle for Kev, Lee and myself. We can’t wait to eat the Blubberburgers and deep fried Rodent pies.

  16. agirlagunner says:

    Well, who doesn’t want to slap Pique/Xavi/Iniesta/Puyol/Busquets?? I know I would. 😀

  17. rico says:

    Hi George,

Can we really afford to take that risk though? I’d rather a clinical goal scorer came in…

Adam, have you made your mind up whether to renew yet, or does tomorrow’s outcome make a difference to your decision?

And no, not a Song fan, mind you, I’m not a fan of any of them in Barca, I’d quite happily slap the lot 😉

  18. agirlagunner says:

rico, it’s a looooong wait for both of us then. 🙁

Well, you can have a bespoke red fur coat made for you, if you go to Eastern Europe and Russia. Take out some of the sting if we don’t qualify. 😀

  19. Adam says:

No Rico. I am still on the fence with that one but I know a lot of people who are not renewing, most after many, many years. I don’t blame them really. There is a nagging feeling within the ground that we are being mugged. The club haven’t announced the renewal prices yet either. I guess they will after tomorrow. It’s a complex equation.

  20. agirlagunner says:

Hello, George. I really was hoping Song would have smashed Pique’s jaw.

    Adam, “cat suit”. Eeeek. 😆

  21. George says:

    Hi Agag,

I reckon Song won’t be at Barca next season.I was sort of hoping he would too.

Shame Puyol got involved, Pique probably deserved it. I particularly enjoyed the job Bayern Munich did on them lol..

Where you off on “ollyday” then agag?

  22. George says:

Maldives?!?! not bad…personally prefer Bournemouth lol..

You on Honeymoon? You will catch the 1-0 scrape tommorow vs
the likeablke Georgies with the Planklof a mgr right?

Just seen we have released a few players from U21 and reserves….

  23. agirlagunner says:

What’s in Bournemouth George? I’ve never been to England. Not on honeymoon. I realized too late that the Maldives is where honeymooners flock. Haha. I’ll just ignore all that loveydoveyness.

It’s time we managed our costs at the U21’s and reserves. Can’t believe that such mediocre talent are paid a fortune.

  24. Adam says:

Rico. You renew with your heart rather than your head these days. It’s what people like Kroenke will never understand.

  25. rico says:

I get that too Adam, and the heart usually wins I suspect. No, Kroenke has no ideal what it’s like to have passion for a football club.

    How could he?

    I’m dreading tomorrow agag….

  26. devilgunner says:

    Good Afternoon Lady and Gentlemen.

Now this is to be expected of SRFC, although I do not think its funny……

Stoke City have launched a “religious abuse” investigation after Striker Kenwyne Jones discovered a pig’s head in his locker of the club’s training ground.
Man Utd (V West Brom), Arsenal (V Newcastle) & Chelsea (V Everton) All To Win is 4/1 with Boylesports.com. Click here to avail of this offer.
The pig’s head was left in Jones’ locker by teammate and Irish international Glenn Whelan and Stoke officials are due to speak to both players before Sunday’s final encounter with Southampton.
The picture surfaced on to a social media site after American midfielder Brek Shea posted along with the caption “Locker room banter gone wild.”
Jones apparently acted furiously on discovering the head and smashed the windscreen of Whelan’s car in response to the practical joke.
Jones who is known to be religious believed the joke was far from funny and his partner Kissa Abdullah reacted with angry tweets prior to the incident.
Abdullah wrote “It just takes a minute to be sensitive to someone’s beliefs no one says u can’t have a sense of humour but let it be a joke! This wasn’t!” And: “Where I come from that’s not anywhere close 2 funny! Esp not knowing religious beliefs.”
Stoke officials released a statement and both players could face disciplinary action:
“The club takes seriously reports of an incident at our training ground this afternoon. A full internal investigation will be carried out and those responsible for any unacceptable behaviour will be dealt with in accordance with the club’s disciplinary procedures.”
Michael Owen who recently announced his retirement from the club was also victim to a locker room prank in recent times.
Owen found his car to be covered in eggs and flower following his final home encounter for the side. Owen took to twitter and claimed he suspected Glenn Whelan’s involvement of that incident also.

What is funny is the Owen incident.

Nothing wrong with that mate. Only eggs and flour did you say??? When I won my first trophy as a coach the players covered my car with flour, eggs and TOMATOES.

I just went to the car wash and power washed it all away.

But the pig’s head in the locker was not so funny.

  27. Joaquim Moreira says:

yes, I read the same this morning… Ronaldo to Chelsea?
The yesterday match was very good.
Mourinho and Ronaldo were sent off 🙂

  28. rico says:

I’m going to have an evening off, might light the bbq in a while, might opt for f ‘n’ chips…. Can’t decide….

Have a good evening all, catch up tomorrow….

  29. Lee says:

We’ve signed Fabregas, Capoue,Hummels and Lewandoski……all to be unveiled at St James Park! Or are faffing about with ligue 2 perma-crock…who has played 22 times in the last four seasons, apparently!

  30. Micko says:

rico, like a deaf dog it’s a hard one to call but I reckon we’ll get more points than Bonnie come tommorrow.

  31. devilgunner says:

Just popped in……….Bendy has broken his wrist. Will be operated tomorrow.

Cu in the comments in your next article.

    Good night all.

  32. devilgunner says:

    Good Morning Lady and Gentlemen.

    Whaaaatttttttt?????? Still no one here??

Ahhhhh. I see. you were all watching the Eurovision I gather.

Bonnie’s song was a good one. Shame about the performance. Crap rendition by Tyler. She was totally eclipsed yesterday.

And we placed in a good 8th position. Better than some of the so called big guns.

Definitely, today we are still talking about “Tomorrow” which happened yesterday.

  33. rico says:

    Morning Devil and all…

I liked Malt’s song, it was the best I heard. Actually, it was the only one I heard. In fact I only heard a minute or so of that….

Was a good night to catch up on all things in the planner 🙂
