Wenger confirms transfer targets. Triple deal suggested. Ozil wants more & CL Draw…

Morning all.

Back in 1988 and on this very day Steve Bould made his Arsenal debut in a 5-1 win at Wimbledon. I wonder what he makes of our frugal transfer window……

Mesut Ozil, our number 10 even though he wears number 11 and get’s shunted all over the pace sometimes, has been talking about goals but is he being fair on himself when he talks about needing to score more?

I want to score more goals than in the last two seasons and that’s my aim for this season. What’s important firstly is that we are successful as a team. That’s most crucial for us and as I said, for me it’s not just goals and assists that mean everything, what’s more important is that we’re successful as a team.

My aim is to help the team and I’ll do all I can to achieve that. In truth I’m more the sort of player who doesn’t really go for goal, I tend to look for my team-mates and think, ‘Can I play this pass?’

I think now and then I need to become a bit more selfish – then I’d definitely score more goals.

I personally think he’s right, he does need more goals than his 12 in 74 matches, or miserly five last season. The great Dennis Bergkamp seldom failed to hit double figures each season when he was at Arsenal and in his prime.

I love Ozil, I really do and stuff he does with a ball is magical at times but all too often he’s in a perfect position to shoot but doesn’t, so yes, be more selfish I’d say and try his luck more often.

But he’s not alone is he and it’s one part (of a few) of the teams tactics which frustrates the heck out of me. Quit the constant passing in and around the box and take a pop at goal. It’ll surprise a few keepers as they won’t expect it as every manager knows we try and be the masters of passing most of the time. Oxlade-Chamberlain does, Walcott and Ramsey do too but they and all need to and a lot more.

It’s the Champions League Group draw today, exciting eh! Can you imagine us winning it with the squad as it is? Errr, no, me neither..

Pot 1: Barcelona, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Benfica, Paris Saint-Germain, Zenit St. Petersburg and PSV Eindhoven.

Pot 3: Shakhtar Donetsk, Sevilla, Lyon, Dynamo Kiev, Olympiakos, CSKA Moscow, Galatasaray, Roma

Pot 4: BATE, Borussia Monchengladbach, Wolfsburg, Dinamo Zagreb, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Gent, Malmo, Astana

We could get a stinker of a group as Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are all possible opponents. We do though avoid Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid as they share Pot Two.

Let’s hope lady luck does us a huge favour as I think we’ll need it…..

Gossip:

Italian journalist Emanuelle Giulianelli, Gunners chief Arsene Wenger is interested in two or three players and is willing to splash the cash before the end of the transfer window.

He’s twitted:

For the many of you that are asking me: Arsenal are interested in 2/3 players.

Priority to a DM, there’s a chance they will buy only him.

Who is this Italian?

Arsene Wenger was asked about any new signings this morning during his press conference:

I’m available 24 hours a day and I have a whole team behind me working round the clock.

You have specific targets and then another becomes available because of something else.

Say what?

I’m done for today, have a good one guys…

  1. rico says:

Thought it was an odd comment myself. ‘specific targets and then others become available’ ??

Considering he’s signed only Cech, he can’t have many targets..

  2. Alistair Stuart Mcmillan says:

We won’t win the league with the squad we have Chelsea have spent money city have .need some proper football men in the arsenal boardroom

  3. Uwot? says:

More bollocks being spouted!really the guy should being doing stand up.would be one of the greats .at his pressers it’s a wonder the journos aren’t doubled up on the floor.i know I would be..

  4. Danish Gooner says:

He will sign zero, stating something like to little time to do it or X player were to expensive,he is gonna come up with a ready made excuse and in the end he will loan Oleg Luzhny from Rotor Volggrad as the only new player.

  5. Danish Gooner says:

Wenger is loathe at spending money he dreams himself back to the days where he could get seven players for less then 20 mil, remember those days Petit,Grimandi,Overmars,Vieira etc signed for less then 20 mil.Today you cant even get a Raheem sterling for that amount of money.Overmars/Raheem its not even a contest.

  6. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.

AW will buy depending on who we draw. If we get….PSV/Benfica…..Olympiakos/Galatasaray and one of Dinamo Zagreb, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Gent, Malmo or Astana he will go with what we have. He will only buy one at the most.

If we get a tough group he will buy at least two imo.

  7. Wavy says:

It might be fair to say that Wenger has his targets, none of them realistic, but he knows who he wants. He doesn’t want any of the rest unless one of his ‘targets’ moves which leaves a player on the ‘b’ list available. Quite how this tick list works I haven’t a clue!! He probably doesn’t either!
Whilst we, on here chew over all manner of ‘A, list players Wenger’s targets are always less obvious, so he gives us the slip by buying someone like Jude the Obscure who play for some third division Slovenian team! But, just to repeat myself, usually he doesn’t buy players for the sake of it, well the occasional trolley dash gets the adrenalin going, but mostly he’s fairly conservative when acquaint a fistful of Nectar points!
Will we see any new faces around the Arsenal? I doubt it because his fantasy player list is just not attainable, even though he has the cash, eg Benzema, he wants to buy him, he’s always wanted to buy him, but he can’t persuade him or his club to part with him, so he’s stuffed! And Kevin Nolan, a ow available is not satisfactory although he is available!
Dear old Arsene’s has set his sights too high and he is just too proud to take the second or third best alternatives! He’s probably right to reject good players just for the sake of rattling his shekel bag. Better to go with what we’ve got!

  8. Hell Raising Devil says:

    I agree Rico.

But that is what will happen.

If feel that AW waited to see who qualified from the preliminaries or not, then wait to see who we get and then if needed buy.

imo that is like saying BYE not BUY

  9. Bob John says:

    Hi all
The saddest thing about our latest groundhog day transfer window is when Arsene says no one is available and yet everyone else is signing players left, right and centre!

  10. kel says:

another good post rico…. i’ve give up on the transfer front, what i do hope for today tho is a group of death in the champions league we aint winning it anyhow imo so i want to see us up against the best. if we compete and qualify brilliant if not then it might act as a eye opener for gazidis and wenger.

  11. Adam says:

I agree Rico. Blimey, that’s a lot of agreements.
Chatting to a bloke on the next table at a Thai restaurant last week. Told me he was an ST holder and the chat invariably got round to Wenger and the annual farce that is the transfer window. He put it most succinctly when he said that Wenger has been great for Arsenal and has moved the club up several notches through testing times but he doubted he was the man to take the club forward into the new era. I couldn’t disagree really as he began talking about revenue from TV rights and the future of the Internet for the club and how they will reach a worldwide audience. Turns out he is an accountant for several players, mostly based in London. Completely non-hysterical view of the situation but it was hard to disagree.

  12. rico says:

‘Quite how this tick list works I haven’t a clue!! He probably doesn’t either’!

Wavy writes as hammer comes crashing down on a ton of nails……. 😉

  13. rico says:

Kel – should it take a tough group and early exit to open IG and AW’s eyes? They should have been open a couple of summers ago when the money started being available yet the squad was not strong enough…

  14. Adam says:

Rico. From what I hear, IG’s eyes are open but his mouth remains clamped shut. The first transfer should be to sack the 24-hour a day team and hire the blokes doing the business for Man City or Chelsea. Anyone who can get £50 million for David Luiz is a fu..ing genius and worth their weight in gold.

  15. Adam says:

I think so Rico but why does Wenger mug himself off so often with all this bollocks about transfers and the team working away at them. What have they been doing for the last 100 days ffs?

  16. Danish Gooner says:

Lets look at who is available, super, super qualidee.Pogba 70 mil,Stones 40 mil,Higuian 60 mil,Cavani 40 mil,Lewa 50 mil,Aubemayang 50 mil,Reus 50 mil.If you look at those players Wenger will not risk one penny on Pogba,Higuian,Cavani or stones. He thinks Reus and Auba and lewa are overpriced ,it leaves ZILCH.

  17. rico says:

And there’s where it all goes wrong Adam, IG shouldn’t be in a position where he has to keep quiet imo, Wenger needs to be accountable but it appears he isn’t.

Re his stupid comments, I think he likes to play with the press, I even think that he thinks he’s funny. What he looses sight of is that we fans are being hurt in the process.

If AW can’t say anything sensible, why not just shut up instead of raising false hope…

Better still, why doesn’t he just bugger off…

  18. bradster says:

    Morning all,

Totally agree Adam, damn fine business that.
Campbell will be our new striker/winger signing when we can’t find a team to off load him to.

  19. Simon Ngulube says:

Tell Wenger for me that good players are all over, they don’t become available you trigger the sale….Man City n Chelsea , Barcelona, Madrid do it all the time…they even buy better players when Wenger has said there is nothing in the market….irony

  20. Kel says:

Danish If any of those players played for Arsenal and were for sale wenger would be looking the same money for them it’s market price. 50m for lewandowski right now is a steal imo.

  21. bradster says:

i too hope we get a group of death. I’d prefer to go to bed in the early hours of the morning watching the top teams that what a shower of shit performance and still lose to a shit team we should be beating on paper.

  22. Bob John says:

    Hi Danish
I think Stones is vastly overrated and over priced. Really can’t see what all the fuss is about. Everton let far more goals in since he replaced Distain.

  23. Adam says:

Kel. You won’t get much argument from me there. But, that’s the point. Wenger should be told that he has all the tools now and that the board expect that level of success. Otherwise, what is the point of him carrying on?
It’s all too comfortable for him because he knows that, as long as he doesn’t spend much and get CL qualification then Stan will back him to the hilt.

  24. Kel says:

That’s how I see it bradster give me Barca or Bayern along with seville rather than porto and kiev with malmo… I wanna see us up against the best. Just my opinion of course each to their own.

  25. Kel says:

That’s it Adam he now has all the tools settled squad, big stadium, London, and 70 or 80m to strengthen… what he doesn’t have tho is accountability.

  26. Wavy says:

Maybe he’s not buying players this time round because whatever is left in the pot when TW closes will be his lump sum pension pay off. I can’t see any other reason for his reluctance to spend!

  27. rico says:

Welcome Simon. In a footballing era where so many players have buy-out clauses, you’d think it would be easier to sign players. As you have pointed out, other clubs have…

  28. scottfromoz says:

Those saying we won’t buy another player……put your money where your mouth is.
    I’m up for the challenge.
Sick to death of reading the same people saying the same things on a daily basis.
    It’s boring.
    Cut and paste.
    Cut and paste.
    Cut and paste.
    We will buy.
Yes, it’s later than ANY of us want it to be, including me, but tell me water you’d prefer us to buy late, or not at all?
When was the last TW we brought ONE player in?
Morning all, you miserable lot 🙂

  29. allezkev says:

    Afternoon All….

    Afternoon Rico….

    Rico, I agree with your 8.38 ;

    “I can see troubled times”….

Yeah Rico, there may be troubles ahead.
But while there’s moonlight and music and love and romance.
Let’s face the music and dance…

  30. frednerk says:

    Man City finish 2nd..Spend..£144 million.
    We Have £200million Finish 3rd Spend £10million
If weir lucky may grab 4th.
    Wenger a degree ecomonics.
    Me failed my 11 plus

  31. Adam says:

Scott. If it’s personal preference you want I would like us to buy at the beginning of the transfer window as we did with Alexis Sanchez.

  32. rico says:

It’s boring writing it Scott, it’s also boring watching it all unfold the same way so often…

    Afternoon Kev, I like that… 🙂

  33. allezkev says:

I think it was Cole Porter, of one of those herberts, Coach…

There’s a few clubs that have dropped out of the CL, like Sporting, who might have to sell a few players at more realistic prices to balance the books…

  34. Simon Ngulube says:

Scott forget it…he will buy rubbish as usual…Squillaci, Gervihno type of players….it’s sad …you see now what has Welbeck done for us?

  35. allezkev says:

Frankly Coach, I hope we get Barcelona, Lyon or Roma and Wolfsburg…

That would be a fcuk off group and the fans six fantastic matches…

We ain’t gonna win the bloody thing, so at least we can enjoy some great games as we get eliminated….

  36. Simon Ngulube says:

Adam, what can we win if we can’t score at home? Three games only 2 goals ? And concede 3 already….what can we win?….

  37. allezkev says:

Carvalho is a definate go’er Rico, especially as Wenger can, get him on the cheap/ get him at a realistic fee, you know the drill… 🙂

  38. Kel says:

Morning Scott… your always looking a bet are you related to wenger? … lol although a few seasons back we had one involving giroud and podolski.. I’m still waiting on payment. 🙂 We will sign a player but come Saturday we could already be 7or 8pts behind city.

  39. scottfromoz says:

Kel, shit, I can’t remember what I did this morning lol.
Adam, id rather we buy early as well, but we’ve bought ordinary players early and great ones late.
Timing really doesn’t mean much if the player is the right one.
Simon, have you even heard of Ozil and Sanchez?
Dumb comment and worthy of no reply, but hey, you’re entitled to an opinion???
Devil, I’ve got your back, mate 🙂

  40. Kel says:

Scott I think a lot of supporters are just getting nervous and a bit twitchy I know I am… If wenger lands a player of real quality I’ll be over the moon but until then m8 I’m glass half empty kid of guy.

  41. Gdna says:

Arsenal/AW is been taught a good lesson in the transfer market, big clubs don’t sell until they buy a replacement. Only at a big club like Arsenal you might find a player being sold without getting a proper replacement. To be competitive in Club Football its spending money, coaching and tactics in that order, looking at that list there is a big question mark against AW. Manuel Pellegrini and Van Gal manages to remain relevant by spending, its not a old mans game anymore and sadly the powers that be at Arsenal unwilling to accept reality.

  42. rico says:

Scott, if you deem a comment not worthy of a reply, why not just not reply rather than to label someone’s view dumb? That’s not HH and you know it….

  43. scottfromoz says:

Fair enough, Kel, but I reckon we should whinge when the time is right…..after the deed is done.
This constant complaining happens every single year.
Even last year people complained late In The TW asking why we didn’t buy more players to help Sanchez….calling Wenger a tight arse after getting Sanchez was ludicrous, especially a year after getting Ozil.
3 years ago people bitched that our biggest signing was Arshavin.
We’ve destroyed that record signing, yet he’s a tight arse?
    It’s a silly comment, really.
He’s shown he will spend big dollars on quality players.
I can’t answer why he’s only brought Cech in, but I won’t condemn him for a bad TW until it’s closed.
I’ll say it again…Arsenal fans, in general, are fickle, and more happy to whinge about what’s wrong with the club than applaud what’s right, and there is PLENTY right.

  44. Gdna says:

I’m will gladly accept the club don’t win a trophy this season and finishing 6th as long as AW is gone in May, its so fu$$ing boring, I used to look forward to watching Arsenal and now its like I don’t give a ish.

  45. Adam says:

Kel. Thanks. I think it’s a Labradoodle with a lion-type haircut. Alas, I have no dog but I will look up the Kerry Blue right now. Cheers. 🙂

  46. rico says:

Simon wasn’t rude though Scott, that’s the difference…

You want us to be understanding of your view, you have to let others have the same freedom without getting on your high-horse…

If we get to the end of the TW and AW has signed a midfielder and striker at least, then you can be smart, until then, it’s 5 days to go plus a few hours and the way AW is conducting his transfer business is embarrassing imo….

The season started two weeks ago, not on the 2nd September…

  47. Adam says:

Kel. Just saw them. Beautiful. Bit like my mate’s Airedale only ‘bluer’. He also has a wonderful Irish Terrier. He’s a ginger.

  48. Gdna says:

“Manuel Pellegrini and Van Gal manages to REMAINS RELEVANT by spending, its not a old mans game anymore and sadly the powers that be at Arsenal unwilling to accept reality.”

  49. scottfromoz says:

Same applies to all of you who condemn Wenger….why criticise day in, say out?
Why not wait until the TW ends?
How can I treat seriously someone who says we won’t sign decent players AS USUAL whilst citing guys who’ve been gone for years, ignoring Ozil, Sanchez and Cech?
Seriously, I’m amazed nobody else pulled him up, but I guess everyone is on Wengers case at present.

  50. scottfromoz says:

DNA, makes no sense, but hey, you’re entitled to that lol.
    Relevance….spend, spend, spend.
Worked wonders for Rodgers…a young man…..Van Gaal, oldish, and Pellegrini last season.
They ALL spent, making them relevant in your eyes, so can you tell us all HOW MANY TROPHIES THEY COLLECTIVELY WON, LAST SEASON??
How many did Wenger, the old, fragile and irrelevant one, win??
Before you duck and weave, and tell us you’re talking about this season, the same scenario played out last year……these guys all spent big time, you said the same crap about Wenger then, so off you go…..answer the questions.

  51. rico says:

It’s not about being on Wenger’s case at all, it’s the club as a whole who are behaving badly.

As for last summer, Alexis was the only real addition, the rest were replacements…

Like I said earlier, if we get to Sept 2nd and he’s made 2/3 more really good signings then I’ll eat a bit of humble pie, but leaving it so late is ridiculous, we needed players signed before pre-season or certainly before the season kicked off..

  52. rico says:

Come on Scott, you are getting all confrontational now, no more!!

Isn’t it time you went off for some kip, tomorrow is another day…..

  53. Gdna says:

Its hilarious how when everything at Arsenal is good its because of AW and when he F up its fans who are ungrateful. He is simply waiting on another opportunist signing which might leave him standing alone.

AW – “[The earlier deadline] maybe makes it more difficult because before you had until midnight,” Wenger said.

“Maybe it was not very comfortable for the Premier League but it was a bit easier then because of the negotiations.

“But people adapt to the timing.

“On the last day we will be the only ones on the market and not face competition with the other [European clubs].”

  54. Kel says:

Yes Adam airdales and irish terriers are great breeds full of energy… If your looking something smaller check out the Glen of imaal terrier a rare dog these days outside of Ireland.

  55. Kel says:

Scott i suppose we should wait until the Window closes to whinge, but I’m just a whinging fucker everyday according to my wife lol…

  56. Hell Raising Devil says:

Ever Banega, Dani Parejo…..both are good players and at the right age….26 years

Verratti, Javi Martinez but club still in Cl

Biglia (lazio) is 29 but can do a good job as a DM plus also a B2B

yes there are players out there

but does AW consider them as good???

  57. Gdna says:

2011 against Birmingham in the League Cup should also be mentioned. The two FA Cup was good because of his years of failure, but people act like it wasn’t a struggle to win them. Wasn’t Wigan the 2013 FA Cup winners, where are they now?

  58. Hell Raising Devil says:

I agree with Scott on 1.29 and 1.33

lets wait till the TW has shut.

as i said last time……dont spit towards the sky….the spit will fall back on your face with some delicatessen from the gulls and pigeon to boot.

  59. rico says:

Devil, I too think we could wait until the end of the TW, but it doesn’t stp us discussing why transfers haven’t been done already.

And let’s not forget that history tells us a lot about AW and his transfer dealings and perhaps why so many of us are frustrated….

But there’s certainly no need to fight among ourselves just because our views differ…

Night Scott. Have a good day at work Kel.

  60. Gdna says:

Rico, he did. Watch the press conference/update on the player, I honestly can’t understand why people defends this dude who constantly lies and talk crap, I can’t wait for the NFL and NBA to start.

  61. rico says:

No thanks Gdna, I heard enough of his interview this morning…

I read that ‘September 1st – “ok, we didn’t make any signings, so lets get behind the lads” on Lg too…

  62. Lee says:

Scott, I’ll bet my Chav above Arsenal bet from last season that we don’t sign a quality DM and a quality striker. Double or quits?!?!

  63. bradster says:

For all the blind running and things Wilshere tries that frustrates me, I’m at this point wishing anyone else in the squad would do just that.
Perhaps Wenger needs to sign a player just for the sake he hasn’t been brain washed into Wenger-ball.

  64. Micko says:

Lee, you gotta stop taking advantage of Scott’s kind nature !

Don’t think we’ll see anyone coming in this weekend so that leaves Monday and Tuesday, gotta love it.

  65. frednerk says:

Ok lets all wait till the window close’s..yer
and lets say we lose at the bar-codes,
    5 points from say 12…..yer
What on earth makes people think
    we can make that up..then
we couldn’t do it last season, could we.
So far for me it’s after the Lord Mayor’s show.
Like I have said before…people who pay week in
week out not to mention time and travel karting
the kids and grandads around and even in some
case’s the mother-in-law will surely react a bit
different to someone streaming it 2 hours later,
    In my Humble Opinion.

  66. Dublingunner says:

I think us fans are well within our rights to moan and disagree with the way Arsene and Gazidas do their business, I feel the average arsenal fan has been patient this transfer window, it,s only really this past week or so that I feel Fans have gotten a bit uptight, but surely that,s to be expected, when he spends all summer trying to get that tool from Madrid( sick of his name in print), then it becomes apparent that deal was not going to happen, now he,s coming out saying at the moment I cannot promise we will sign anyone as “we are not close”, It,s ridiculous, no wonder the fans are getting uptight. Just taking unnecessary risks, when we could be just a couple of players shy of actually doing something this season, he,s had 3 months to find them, so even if he does pull off a last minute coup, I will always be judgemental of the way he and the board do business.

  67. Lee says:

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you’re chewing on life’s gristle
    Don’t grumble, give a whistle
And this’ll help things turn out for the best…
    And…

…always look on the bright side
    of life…
    (Whistle)

Always look on the light side
    of life…
    (Whistle)

    If life seems jolly rotten
    There’s something you’ve forgotten
And that’s to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When you’re feeling in the dumps
    Don’t be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle
    – that’s the thing.
    And…always look on the bright
    side of life…
    (Whistle)

    Come on.

Always look on the right side
    of life…
    (Whistle)

    For life is quite absurd
    And death’s the final word
You must always face the curtain
    with a bow
Forget about your sin – give the
    audience a grin
Enjoy it – it’s your last chance
    anyhow.

So always look on the bright side
    of death…
    (Whistle)

a-Just before you draw your terminal breath…
    (Whistle)

Life’s a piece of shit, when you look at it
    Life’s a laugh and death’s a joke, it’s true
You’ll see its all a show, keep ’em laughin as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you

    And…
Always look on the bright side
    of life…
    (Whistle)

Always look on the right side
    of life…

    C’mon Brian, cheer up

Always look on the bright side
    of life…

Always look on the bright side
    of life…

Worse things happen at sea you know.

I mean – what have you got to lose?
You know, you come from nothing
    – you’re going back to nothing.
    What have you lost? Nothing.

Always look on the right side
    (I mean) of life…

what have you got to lose?
You know, you come from nothing
    – you’re going back to nothing.
    What have you lost?

Always (Nothing.) look on the right side of life…

Nothing will come from nothing ya know what they say?
Cheer up ya old bugga c’mon give us a grin!
    There ya go, see!

Always look on the right side of life…
(Cheer up ya old bugga c’mon give us a grin! At same time)

    There ya go, see!

  68. Hell Raising Devil says:

yes its within everyon’s right to moan and disagree. but there is a limit…..because as Scott pointed out last year the same people were saying the same things and this year the same things….and I want to go further as much as to say that next year those same people will say the same things.

I also pointed out that two years ago today there were many here who were saying that with AW in charge we would never win anything. Now two FAcups later and the same people are saying that with AW in charge we will never win the EPL and CL.

I can assure you that if by some miracle we win both of them this year the same people will say that with AW in charge we will never win the League Cup.

    Sometimes certain repetitions are nauseatic.

  69. Hell Raising Devil says:

  70. rogerbij says:

Perspective guys – if we beat West Ham we wouldve been on 7 points and near the top. We suffered a loss, hard to take but lets get over it. If we had Ramseys goal allowed vs pool it wouldve been 6.

I suggest going nuts after 10 games if the picture is bleak. Right now its just kneejerk stuff. And Tiring. We didnt become a terrible team overnight.

Lets see what happens before the window closes. I wouldnt be surprised if we get one nice surprise 😉

  71. rico says:

    Dublin, spot on!!

Roger – knee jerk? Didn’t we say that last season when we started so badly, and the season before and………………….

  72. rogerbij says:

Im with Rico, second should be doable with some left in the tank. Lets nail those home and away games against Oly and Zagreb and you never know if Bayern slip up…
Anyway, despite 5 (?) last 16 exits in recent years, if we are as good as we think we are, we should be beating anyone (except Barca) in the last 16.

  73. rico says:

Roger, if AW does make a couple of cracking signings yet, we could top that group… Oh, and be more sensible in our home games….

  74. rogerbij says:

yeah we always screw up Kev, but not until the last 16 😉 Arsenal are experts at getting through the group stages. Ill take a bet we will be fine. But probably 2nd place

  75. Nashua Gunner says:

Rico. We can all moan but no good would come out of it. What gives me hope is all the players that have been loan out. There is no way with all those players out and none coming in.

  76. Rick says:

    BT they are as follows

    16 Sept Dinamo Zagreb (a)
    29 SEpt Olympiakos (h)

    20 Oct Bayern (h)
    4Nov Bayern (a)

    24 Nov Dinamo (h)
    9Dec Olympiakos(a)

  77. BT62 Gooner says:

Thanks Rick, that’s the info i need. checked Arsenal.Com and nothing was listed. Hope all is well with you..

  78. tsgh says:

Spotted Roman and his crew with eclipse in Sitges.
Bt.I got myself barca ticket for the weekend. hope it’s legitimate…

  79. BT62 Gooner says:

Hi Ts, i take it your on holidays, hope you didn’t go down your usual route, cheapest is best…..
I take it is for the Malaga match..

  80. scottfromoz says:

Devil, I saw that footage of the little fella….brilliant stuff.
    Morning.
Lee, double up, no dramas but how about the bet becomes whether or not DNA answers my questions…….we will be all square immediately, because he won’t lol
Two players will be signed, IMO.
Some of you no doubt snigger at my attitude and that’s fine, but at least I stay consistent in my views…….plenty don’t.
Just to remind you, my questions were how many trophies did Wenger win last season, and how many did the “younger, more relevant” managers who showed their worth by spending a fortune, win.
Are we on, Lee? 🙂 🙂

  81. BT62 Gooner says:

Ts, enjoy it mate bet the weather is better than here, if i remember i’ll tune in and keep an eye out for you..lol

  82. Simon Ngulube says:

Am worried that most people seem to be very happy by just winning the FA Cup twice in a row….really? I think we need to up our ambition a bit. In the old days when Wenger used to say we are building a team for the future….Nasir, Cesc…etc we understood and we were patient…however he fooled us because he sold all those players. That is gone; now what is happening? We need to win competitions that matter. Champions League, PL…these are competitions that matter most. If nothing is done, we will drop out of the competition at the usual stage…I don’t know about you guys , but as for me this makes me sick!!

  83. Joaquim Moreira says:

good to go to Greece last game… hope we don’t need any more point.
We mus try for be second in our group.
The good think (if we go through…). we don’t play versus Bayern at the last 16; the bad thing: we can play with all we don’t want (Barcelona, Madrid, PSG,…)

  84. Simon Ngulube says:

Rico has already acknowledged Arsenal is a second class team…he says we will get our usual second place….you see this is what we are complaining about? Honestly why defend Wenger?..as much as he has done good things for the club, now someone should spearhead the team or he should change his ambitions….not calling 4 place a trophy…BIG NO!!!!!

  85. Gunnerdna says:

Every time fans mention spend people refer to Liverpool and Spurs, why? Why not Bayern, Real Madrid, FCB or PSG. I thought the great AW would be compared to managers of the best teams in Europe, not teams like Liverpool or Spurs. They might be right anyway because they are all specialist in Failure.

  86. allezkev says:

    16th Sept; Dinamo Zagreb..(a) CL
    19th Sept; Chelsea………….(a) EPL
    23rd Sept; Spurs……………..(a) LC
    26th Sept; Leicester…………(a) EPL
    29th Sept; Olympiaikos…….(h) CL

5 games in only 13/14 days!
    4 of them away…

That is gonna be a real test of our squad, their fitness and Wengers ability to rotate, or not, as the case may be…

    Night All…

  87. Lee says:

Second in the group, knocked out in the knock out stage. Huff and puff in the league but get the coveted 4th spot. Decent run in a cup perhaps… rinse repeat rinse!

People wonder why some fans are unhappy with this repetitive bollocks?!?

    We need a managerial/ B.O.D over-haul….

Oh to be a fucking Gooner!

  88. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Mornng Lovelies and Hunkies

4 years ago today we were simply humiliated by Sir Red Nose’ shitload crew. We copped in 8.

From that team only Coquelin, Koscielny, Ramsey, Theo and the Ox are regular starters.

Ches and Jenks are on loan.

    TR07 is in limbo.

  89. allezkev says:

Coach, that was pretty much Wengers nadir, the bottom of the barrel, where he probably lost credit ability with many Arsenal fans, for ever….

It’s been a bit of a slog since, to recover from that…

2 FA Cups and 2 Charity Shields are progress of a sort, of course, but if we slide back this season then he’s in shit street…

  90. allezkev says:

Yeah Coach, I remember Brian Talbot, our £450,000 record signing at the time…

He used to take a decent free-kick…

    Morning All btw

  91. Hell Raising Devil says:

Since that debacle we have added……..

    WC…..Cech, Sanchez, Ozil, Cazorla

Good players……Per, Ollie, Welbeck, Ospina and Gabriel

We also added Arteta but his legs have now gone.

The basis of a strong team are there.

But we need someone who makes us tick and gives us an aura of a fortress. Like Cantona did for Manure. Like Keane did as well.

  92. Adam says:

    Morning Rico and all.
Get ready Rico. A lot of action very soon. The team of transfer negotiators haven’t slept for 3 months and have been working 24 hours a day. Oh and Per will be like a new player when he comes back. As will Danny Welbeck of course. 🙂

  93. allezkev says:

    Morning Rico…

I have scanned NewsNow, the Metro, the Telegraph, Who Ate All the Pies, the Hard Tackle and Squawka, and I can confirm, no new signings…

But I have a feeling that we are closing in for a sensational new addition as we blog…

  94. rico says:

    Morning Adam..

Theo too, he’s been missing so long, he’ll be like a new signing…

I didn’t know Per won’t take antibiotics which means his chest infection hasn’t cleared…

  95. Lee says:

FFS Kev you’ve not consulted the oracle….. the font of football knowledge……the football transfer Bible!! None other than the Bleacher Report!!

Hang your head in shame my friend, that’s up there with Adam’s numerous grammatical faux pas!!

  96. Simon Ngulube says:

Good morning everyone! I will convert the days into hours now and wait patiently. Maybe Wenger might just make me swallow my words….

Somebody help me…how many hours before TW closes?

  97. allezkev says:

Good grief Lee, I have just realised, how could I be such an idiot…

That means that the next time I visit Adam that Mrs Adam will greet at the door and belt me with a length of timber as I enter…

    And I shall deserve it… 🙂

  98. Lee says:

Maybe Wenger knows that even with two quality signings he won’t win the PL as he’s past his sell buy date?!?! Saving the kitty for the next manager? Knows that we should get top four with his current squad?

  99. Simon Ngulube says:

Thanks guys….lol…have great day as we patiently wait…though I have only 1% of patience left with this Wenger madness…God knows where I will get the other one if this one runs out….lol…
