Wenger confirms interest in German midfielder…..

Afternoon guys and gals.

Just a page refresher after today’s post disappeared into a big hole somewhere, never to be seen again.

Arsene Wenger has had this to say:

People want to see the next Lionel Messi – they don’t want to see a promising guy. The name of the player gives people hope, but when they haven’t heard of them people are already sceptical.

It’s much more difficult for us now. The competition is higher. We are trying to diversify a bit more because we are limited in England. A new market that is very interesting is Japan – it’s very competitive.

The country where we were really competitive in the past was France, but they produce less top players than they did, say, 15 years ago.

The emerging countries look to be Germany and Spain – they have taken over from France and they have many good, young players.

I have to disagree, none of us expect to see the so called next Messi, we just want to see players signed who are better than what we have, or the right players to fill the gaps we have in our squad. Players who will roll up their sleeves and lay their body on the line for our club.

If those players happen to be as good as Messi, then wonderful, but if they are not, we won’t lose any sleep will we…….

One player Wenger has confirmed that the club are looking at is Lewis Holtby:

We have looked at him, yes.

Didn’t we all when we faced Schalke 04 in the Champions League?

Now it’s time to go and sign the right one or two, jeeze, he’s had long enough to see where we need them..

Have a good one all…..

Morning Adam, goodness knows where the other one went, I was on it earlier as was Oz, Wavy and Wath, but then suddenly, it was gone …

    Spooky……

  2. silentstan says:

pretty much an uninspiring player based on evidence of our games against him. another Ramsey. No thanks

  3. rico says:

Personally I think he’s much better than Ramsey stan, but what we need is a defence minded midfielder, and sharpish but Diaby’s return will no doubt put pay to that…

Hopefully Diaby will either play on Sunday and suffer a setback which will force AW into signing one, or he stays fit from now until the end of the season.

And the latter just isn’t going to happen….

  4. W.A.T.H says:

Wenger doesnt do panic buys Rico, we didn’t have a left back last Jan/Feb and he still didn’t buy… same the season before when TV was out injured….! Mr Stubborn won’t budge we know that..!

  5. musalya says:

morning rico, sorry to be a drag..but i do wish the posts could be a bit longer..they kind of just start and end in a second….nothing better in the day than a looong post to pass the hours…especia;lly now that its transfer season….give us any two bit….impossible fabricated transfer story to lighten the mood in my goooner heart…things have bin rather sad 4 the past ……several seasons. cheerz

  6. rico says:

Wath – signing a DM though would hardly be a panic buy, we’ve need one since Song left.

Mind you, I’d say we needed one when he was here 😉

But yes, I know what you mean….

    Wenger’s a buffoon though if he doesn’t sign one…

  7. Bradster says:

    Hi All,

Yep, our ‘like new’ signing back again. He’ll survive long enough for Wenger to say he put his faith in his fitness and there was no time to start looking when he got injured.
Why hasn’t Rosicky got any game time? Is there a valid reason for him to sit bench?
Isn’t that lovely that Squid feels he has the option to choose his retirement spot after his fully paid, with spending money, extended vacation in London has come to an end?

  8. W.A.T.H says:

We will be told Diaby is fit n strong and ready to go….. ready to go somewhere else would be my preference but there u go…!
Actually Diaby should be back up to who ever is brought in, then no pressure not to many games and maybe he then would not get injured so much.

  9. W.A.T.H says:

Brad, if we ain’t been looking at players in Oct/Nov/Dec and know exactly who we want already then we really are is shit street…! I don’t for one minute think they don’t not know who they want…. Question is do they have the balls to go get them…?

  10. emma says:

    Good day everyone,

If AW fails to sign a DM, I will find it difficult to forgive him. Look at what our depending on unfit Diaby has cost us[18pts behind the league leaders]. I don’t mind us waiting till the summer to get a striker in but a DM, unforgivable.

  11. W.A.T.H says:

In reality Emma it’s unforgivable from the start of the season… He sells Song which i didn’t have a problem with but to then risk everything on a player who is the most unreliable of players when it comes to injuries was delusional, he said it was a gamble well i disagree wasn’t a gamble at all pure stupidity and stubbornness, a gamble would of been on a player who missed a month or two last season not a player who plays a month a season for the last 5 years.

  12. dominic says:

prof should b serious and get d needed players.the whole thing is becoming very embarassing.arsenal 4life.

  13. Bradster says:

I agree with ts where he said before we would do better if we got a box to box mid in Diaby’s stature, good tackler and some passing ability. Arteta played well covering for Song last season and just needs that mid to make tackles higher up the pitch. Santi won’t do it so Wilshere then has to work harder but he can’t be everywhere. So that leaves huge spaces either higher up the pitch or in the middle.

  14. W.A.T.H says:

Emma, how mad was it that Diaby is out injured and a year later we give him a new improved contract… Where is the brains in that..??

Mental if you ask me, then we told by the idiots in charge the club is well run…… Utter crap.

Brad, whenever Diaby is out all wenger goes on about is we miss his physical presence…. So sort it our Wenger…!!

  15. Adam says:

Do I sense a lack of confidence in the mighty AW? Surely not.
Actually I like Holtby. He’s my kinda guy. 🙂

  16. W.A.T.H says:

    He’s another dwarf though Adam……

zaiyanu….. the 7million extra on Ba’s agents and hangers on was the problem that makes him 14million and a dodgy knee…!

    I’d rather we spend 14million on a 23/24 yr old…!

  17. emma says:

WATH – What piss me off is he has now come back in time like a new signing. Like He was waiting for the transfer window to commence to return to full training. After the window closes, he gets one of those freaky injury and he is out for the season

  18. John Grondona says:

What if Diaby does an RVP and after 5/6 seasons injured has a mind blowing half season. Should he be offered a new 5 year deal ?

  19. Adam says:

Wath. He is making mistake after mistake and when you listen to his press conferences you see a man completely out of touch. I really don’t like the way he is now using Walcott’s bloody contract as an excuse. If he had any bottle he would have issued a sign or go ultimatum ages ago and moved forward instead of letting the club slowly drown.

  20. emma says:

When Diaby got injured in the chelsea’s match, AW said that he will be out for 3 weeks, I forgot that what AW meant was 3months in Diaby’s universe 😉

  21. W.A.T.H says:

Don’t worry Emma Diaby was playing table footie with the Junior Gunners yesterday he’s bound to of pulled something………..

Wenger has admitted Diaby cannot take the stresses of 2/3 games a week so he needs to buy doesn’t he…! The excuses are getting thinner and thinner..! The pressure grows.

    His comments are showing that….

  22. Scott from Oz says:

    I’m with Zaiyanu.
Not sure what the hell he said, but i’m on his side.
Is Holtby really a player who can make a difference?
    No.
Is he any better or any different to what we already have?
    No.
We all know what is needed…..it’s a no brainer.
Capoue, Sissoko, M’Villa….the list goes on and so does the wait.
    Evening all.

  23. W.A.T.H says:

I think we could be waiting a f’kin long time Scott thats the problem.

Evening to you as well fella…!

  24. Adam says:

Surely targets should have been identified by now and serious attempts made to sign them. I sense we could miss out on some decent players and I can probably work out the excuses before he even utters them.

  25. Scott from Oz says:

Does anyone have a clue how much he actually has to spend?
What exists in this so called war chest??

  26. dboy says:

Four things wrong with Arsenal fc :
    1.Kroenke and his board
    2.Arsene Wenger
    3.Deadwood players
4.AKB’s or Wengerites allowing the downward spiral

  27. W.A.T.H says:

Anything between 60 and 80 million Scott, depending as well if they take queensland road money into the equation which is 28million…!

  28. W.A.T.H says:

dboy… I’d put wenger 4th for now…. Only under a new Owner would we really know how much of the problem wenger really is..!

  29. Scott from Oz says:

    Hi Wath,
He wind has blown in and awoken me.
    I had a great day, yesterday…..it is now 12.30am!
Wifey took me to a micro brewery, and trying 8 of their beers was pretty much heaven on earth!
This camping is just gold 🙂

  30. frednerk says:

Cats out the bag Mr Wenger

Everyone expects me to find the next Messi..ah thats the problem

Wonder why….you keep putting us fans through the ringer.

  31. potter says:

His comments about named players can be taken 2 ways . The first is to say that there are no superstars available and as such there will be no business. The other is to imply that new faces may well arrive but they will be in the “”potential “” bracket . To me this suggests a deliberate attempt to move the goalposts and lower the expectations of the 2 million twitter users that the club have proudly announced.

  32. Scott from Oz says:

Dboy, please explain exactly what power the “Wengerites” have, and how they use it to allow the “downward spiral”?
    How ridiculous!
The board and Stan allow what is happening, nobody else.
Wath, 60-80, 30 and 50 million are what i here.
I hope you’re right and i hope it is utilised.

  33. Adam says:

Potter. Agreed. I have often said that one his achievements has been to lower the expectations of the fans. The fans have more power collectively than they realise individually and might soon be engaged in a battle for the soul of the club. And I really don’t exaggerate.

  34. W.A.T.H says:

no way only 30 to 50 mate….. there maybe a huge difference in what the board allow him to spend but its up around the 80mill mark for sure..!

  35. DutchGooner10 says:

Syrup the movie trailer – listen to the lines spoken. That’s the culture oxygen at Arsenal.

  36. Scott from Oz says:

Until Stan is gone we are all just ticking over…..by we i mean the club, Wenger, the players, the fans…..everyone.
Wenger quitting or being sacked changes nothing.
    New signings change nothing.

  37. Adam says:

Wath. Surely the club must spend what it needs to spend. Problem is, once you have the players, who is going to inspire them to play?

  38. Scott from Oz says:

    Wath, that is the problem.
Surely the true “warchest” is what those arseholes actually give him to spend, not what is in the kitty.

  39. essienspecial says:

We all know the truth! Gazidis OUT! And after him Wenger OUT! Then we wil be fine. And why isnt Rosicky playing? Hemmm!! Am SICK OF THAT MAN WEEEENNGER OOOUT ALREADY!!

  40. Scott from Oz says:

Inspiration starts from the very top.
New players might come to Arsenal with stars in heir eyes, but how long does it take for them to realise exactly what is going on at the club?
How many of us would be happy and content to play for Stan??
It is easy to say they should give 100% every week as they are bloody well paid, i am guilty of saying it, but truth be told nobody can do that unless they are happy.
No one, single person can “inspire” players when the culture from top to bottom becomes evident.
Too easy to blame Wenger when everyone with eyes and ears knows deep down the board dictates the destiny of the club, and that includes the part Wenger plays in it.
Everyone suggest how Fergie has a winning attitude.
Well, that is easy when everyone at the club from top to bottom does what it takes to be successful.

  41. W.A.T.H says:

Problem is Scott due to accounts fans all know the kitty needs to be spent they cannot afford to not back wenger in the transfer market

  42. SD London says:

Rosicky is not playing because Wenger is not bold anymore, he cant risk changing the set up right now.

I think he should have played Rosicky against Southampton we could see Wilshere was not in the game at all , he lost all the balls passed to him.

  43. Scott from Oz says:

Wath, i hope they give enough care to fans thoughts to allow Wenger, no, to FORCE Wenger to spend it.

  44. SD London says:

Arsene doesn’t have £70 mIllion to spend we need to stop thinking like that.

If he does , Stan wouldn’t be around just when the window has opened.
The only reason Stan is here now is to discuss how much Wenger would get and judging by his history in America, he doesn’t like spending.

So i dont think Wenger will get £70Mil, if he gets £24 Mil , he should be happy.
I am sure Wenger has to generate the rest , that is why the first transfer news we are hearing from Arsenal are players been sold and not coming bought.

  45. Scott from Oz says:

Lee, i said FORCE him to spend it.
The board have that power, but choose not to excercise it and why??
Chamakh to West Ham will be interesting.
If he fails, we have offloaded deadwood that Wenger shouldn’t have signed in the first place.
If he succeeds, the critics will be out in force asking why Wenger couldn’t get anything out of him.
Yes, the same critics who said all along Chamakh was shit.
Tell me when the man can win in some peoples eyes lol

  46. Scott from Oz says:

Exactly SD…..Wenger knows he must sell before ha can buy.
Stan will be watching how much he makes through sales/loans and probably want to keep a chunk of that!

  47. W.A.T.H says:

I think that sell to buy is now utter bollox…..! We have more cash to spend thats been made than any other prem side yet we don’t spend it…! We have an extra 40million tv money coming in this summer and the days of sell to buy are gone…! Now we see if Syrup starts taking money out the club…. Then watch the shit hit the fan

  48. Scott from Oz says:

    Of course they could Lee.
If he doesn’t take notice, they can sack him……simple.
We all know this won’t happen, but all i said was they do hold the power, they just never excercise it because they really want him keeping us top 4 whilst turning a profit.
It is exactly why he has a job for as long as he chooses, and i agree that is no way to run a football club, but it is what it is.
What the board tell us and what they tell Wenger are two extremely different things, and he is left to carry the burden, because they keep telling us the money is there.
It is just my opinion on things.

  49. W.A.T.H says:

Agreed Scott but wait til the yank really starts to fuck us over more than he has the last few years… asset stripped the side, pay wenger a huge salary to carry the can and we get lumbered with the leftovers…! Pathetic…!

  50. Scott from Oz says:

Guys, i read earlier Corinthians have bought Pato for 12 million.
    Is this correct?
    Is this bloody cheap?
Has this guy lost a leg???

  51. Scott from Oz says:

I know what you are saying Wath, but even if Wenger leaves, the next manager will be in the same boat, but the club would sink further into crisis, imo.
I keep saying it…….nothing changes until Stan is kicked out, dragged out or run out of Arsenal FC.

  52. DutchGooner10 says:

If I have to sell my washing machine to buy new clothes, don’t you think my household is ineffective?

Lee has verbalized it before, there’s a 40 mln gap in wage structure with the swamps. And we are the ones with a salary cap.

  53. Adam says:

But what is the point of him spending any serious money when he cannot inspire players like Podolski to put it in for more than 50 minutes once every few games? And there are others too.
Until there is potent ambition at the club there will be no progression. Kroenke has already won. He owns Arsenal.

  54. DutchGooner10 says:

Have we forgotten Bendy and Denilson haven’t been sold yet. Ask yourselves Why? Still we moan about Diaby being at the club. I don’t see any difference.

  55. Lee says:

Imagine if we’d started the offloading process a year ago….The jury is out, whether AW should be spending any cashish at the moment.

  56. W.A.T.H says:

Totally agree Scott, Wenger going doesn’t solve the problem as the syrup is the root of all evil but wenger isn’t blameless and isn’t free from making dire mistakes and also stringing us along to tow the party line when it suits him.

Pato 12million sounds like they getting his Mrs…..!

DG spot on mate, we have loaned out so many yet peope fail to recognise we pay more than 50% of their salaries as well all because we gave them stupid contracts and in the first place or renewed then onto stupid contracts. Never mind the board say we are run brilliantly. Dicks….

  57. Adam says:

It appears Chamakh is out on loan Rico. As for buying they’re thinking about it and will decide only after the players in question have been sold to other clubs.

  58. Adam says:

I cannot help but think there are quite a few other managers who would actually manage and motivate our squad better than Arsene is doing at the moment.

  59. W.A.T.H says:

DG, Bendy, Denilson, Park, Chamakh, Henderson, Watt, Eastmnd and a few others who get loaned out but cost us a fortune and yet in all honesty should not even be Arsenal players. Not good enough. Add to that the likes of Squilli, Santos, Gerv, AA, Fabianski then we can see why our wage bill is ludicrous.

Appalling management…! Over paid execs performing poorly who should also be sacked.

  60. SD London says:

WATH! WATH! WATH!, Syrup has been taking money oh sorry STAN has been taking money from the club for a while now under the disguise of paying share holders dividend.

But i agree the club needs to get rid of some deadwood and create space but i just hope Stan doesn’t take advantage of that and ask Wenger to use the money he raised to buy new players.

    ————————-

I was dreaming earlier that Arsenal bought Sneider and Villa and M’vill was braought in onloan with possibility to buy option.

😐 oh i woke up long time ago

  61. DutchGooner10 says:

Juventus is in the market for a striker, that rules out lifting the buy clause for Bendtner. His value plummets even further as a consequence.

There was interest from Bundesliga clubs which was scuffed. Cuz Arsenal hoped he could resurrect their minimal asking fee being on loan with last season’s serie-A champions? If so, aren’t some poor judges of character and/or ability within our office ranks?

  62. Lee says:

    What’s the annual wage bill to that lot WATH? £450k pw +, there’s £23m p.a and that’s being conservative…FFS!

  63. Adam says:

Wath. Good point re those players. But they are not down to The Syrup are they? They are prime examples of the manager’s misjudgements aren’t they? Obviously there have been some great buys along the way, but they have all been sold and the monies used to fund the exorbitant wages of those you mention. I can’t bear Kroenke’s debilitating involvement with Arsenal but equally I find it hard to lay the blame for the problems you highlight at his door.

  64. Lee says:

Nah, I’m only joking but you started by saying there was a new post up, this morning! Sending everyone on a wild goose chase….

  65. rico says:

Not only the misjudgements in signing some Adam, keeping them at the club so so long when are clearly not good enough…

  66. Adam says:

Porn king David Sullivan’s son is apparently not overwhelmed by Chamakh’s arrival. I can’t think why.
Wait until he sees him play.

  67. W.A.T.H says:

SD, as yet mate check they do not still take a dividend but syrup does take a salary but it’s nothing compared to what it would be if he does start taking a dividend on the shares…!.

Agreed Adam, Wenger bought those players…! and even if it was risky as thats the funds they gave him surely not bothering would of been more acceptable..!

  68. Adam says:

Wath. Or reward them with bigger contracts after they have proved themselves perhaps. We have to accept that signing for Arsenal is not the proposition it used to be.

  69. W.A.T.H says:

The problem now though Adam has moved on and is the syrup….!
Is wenger going through the motions in the hope AU boots the syrup out so lacks motivation…? If so the other side of that is then he should surely resign and say syrup has tied his hands in the running of the club no funds available etc etc and walk away…! Simple…! But he doesn’t… why…? loving a club taking a huge salary and watching is implode isn’t loving a club in my book.

  70. W.A.T.H says:

Adam you and I both know when you give someone a new contract it s a reward…. where is the hunger and ambition when we give out new contracts every year for players who have yet to prove themselves…?

  71. Lee says:

GUNNERS fans will barely be able to control their mirth today after West Ham first confirmed that they were in talks to take misfiring Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh on loan, and shortly afterwards a message appeared on Twitter, apparently from the son of chairman David Sullivan, which read: “I am very sorry about this news Chamakh has sign a 6 month loan deal! not my pick! “

  72. DutchGooner10 says:

    WATH

Tnx for spelling it out more extensively. I couldn’t be bothered preaching to the well-informed like yourself. 😛

  73. rico says:

And to make my day worse, they id no navy blue cotton in my sewing box and I need some!!

Maybe I’ll do a Wenger, make do with black….

  74. Adam says:

Yes I agree. When I spoke of the “soul” of the club earlier I think that, ultimately, it does lie in Syrup’s hands. As I see it, the frustration of the fans is growing exponentially. We are not fools. We know that competition is hard and that the sugar daddy clubs have an advantage. But we also know that we can’t win every game or buy “Messi” but Wenger is touting that particular spiel as a stick to beat the fans with now and mask his failures in the transfer market. But, looking at our infrastructure and the prices we are forced to pay, we are seriously underachieving as Wenger spends the money we do have in an imbalanced way. He rewards mediocrity with massive contracts, can’t see from an early stage, that a player isn’t good enough and perseveres with them beyond all reason. He allows a player like Walcott to hold the club to ransom when he should have taken a hard line a year ago and his spiel now alienates more and more fans. Real fans who love the club yet see the writing on the wall and find it hard, if not impossible, to comprehend how we have ended up as a business asset of a syrup’ed individual who cares nothing for the history or tradition of the club and sees it as purely a part of his portfolio. Now, perhaps this is the way that things are inevitably shifting. But I think that, once the hardcore supporters have gone and they view the club with bitterness rather than pride, then all that’s left are numbers of visitors to the stadium and their per-head spend. It will be figures, no more, no less. The shame for me is that I thought Arsenal were bigger and better than that.

  75. DutchGooner10 says:

    WATH

Chamug isn’t gone, he’s being asked to recuperate costs and raise his asking fee camping at another club. The hot potato is just passed on for the time being. Not deleted from the menu.

  76. rico says:

But it doesn’t have to be that way Adam, as a friend of mine said yesterday, Usmanov needs to start flexing his financial muscles….

  77. W.A.T.H says:

Totally agree Adam, the minute the board sold its soul and OUR club to the yank we were fucked mate…! I can’t see a way out either.

  78. W.A.T.H says:

I am off out to solve the clubs problems with a few pints of GG…. See you lot lata…!

    Lee……………. Whoooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrr 😉

  79. goonster says:

hahahahaah hobbit lee says! i like him though. he’s a gooner and has huge potential. i say sign him up pronto! hey fellas, how’s it going?

  80. W.A.T.H says:

So it seems it’s confirmed… Chamakh is indeed a gonner…… Thank god for that, that’s 1 down about 10 to go…!
    Be good you lot.

  81. goonster says:

chamakh gone huh? what a waste of funds and ability. i love this guy. he wasn’t shit until DG10’s cousin decided he wont be an injury prone player no more. poor fella. good luck maroune. you ll never get a foul word from me.

  82. Adam says:

Rico. I am afraid there is little that Usmanov can do in reality to oust Syrup. The only thing people like Kroenke understand is the bottom line. He lives in a dream world where hi is a US sports jock with a tremendous, wavy, barnet. IF and it’s an if of ginormous proportions, the attendance figures were to drop to 30,000 can you imagine what a field day the press would have. The pressure would be huge. Sustained campaigns of Syrup Out might, after a while, force a change. Would Usmanov be any better? Would Wenger stay? Would he buy the players we need? Etc, etc. these are all questions for the future that may never happen. If nothing is done, then nothing will change.

  83. goonster says:

howdy adam, are you still coming or what? i ll be heading back to raleigh in a 2 days time. come on buddy. let’s hang out.

  84. frednerk says:

When a guy has no name people are sceptical?

    It’s so difficult for me.

Mr A .Wenger on future players coming to us.

  85. Will XL says:

Chamakh gone on loan, Gerv going to Afcon, No Henry loan…. leaves us short a striker. sounds like Wenger has a striker signing tied up. Maybe Adrian Lopez, but holding out to see if Villa is a possibility?

    Wishful thinking?

  86. frednerk says:

    Will I think your right,
Ba was to much like what we have already(wengers words)
By all accounts we may be chasing a player similar to the everton player Morielers.
    Spuds just signed Holtby

  87. DutchGooner10 says:

    Goonie LOL > RIP

What do you think Theo’s contract situation has done for gel boy? If Maroune topped him in the central striker pecking order? You know to regain his form/confidence you speak so highly off.

Loaning him to WHU is just desperate measures to get Theo inking sooner rather than later. Even Giroud is benched lowering competition for his preferences.

  88. Lee says:

Holtby apparently joins that mob in the summer…why are we still doing sweet f.a? Still waiting on TW’s signature? What total bollocks!

  89. rico says:

I think the only one thing we are all convinced about is, unless Kroenke changes his ways, we are set for mid-table finishes each season.

I appreciate that Usmanov can do little unless Kroenke is willing to sell, but he could at least start making a few more waves…

Talking of which, The Merking has just saved the day on BBC2 😉

  90. goonster says:

holtby in scummer land? lord give me strength! first vertoghen, then dembele and dempsey now holtby?? christ in heaven!

  91. rico says:

    Holtby to the Totts?

So we weren’t looking at signing him, or we were and yet another turns us down for them….

Sign of things to come I guess….

  92. Lee says:

Stan, they are a bigger attraction than us right now….that is the sad demise of our “football club.”

  93. goonster says:

lee this stinks……am beginning to listen to gambon more and more. that doesn’t bode well does it? maybe he’s been right all along! God help us.

  94. Adam says:

A very grey and rather ill looking old chap has just said that not a lot will happen in the transfer window.
    What a relief!

  95. allezkev says:

Only another 27 days of inactivity and frustration to go before the window closes…

Look Gooners, nuffink is gonna happen…

    Wenger is not buying jack-shit…

    Simples.

Lee, as long doesn’t start using the ‘C’ word…
Then we would know that she’s tipped over the edge…

    Oh, by C, I mean Cava… 😉

  96. emma says:

What’s the euphoria about Holtby? he is really not what we need. He is not an improvement of jack, arteta, ramsey, eisfeld etc. We need a DM and possibly a striker since we ve allowed Shisha master and Forehead master to leave on loan and afcon respectively

  97. Will XL says:

Lee… I hope I dont know the answer…. I want to be wrong. Please Arsenal, prove me wrong.

We didnt need Holtby. Glad we didnt get him. Lets pay Sneijder 200k.

    whos with me?

  98. rico says:

😆 Adam, I am trying to avoid it ..

Safe journey lee, keep anything ‘Arsenal’ well and truly covered…

  99. SD London says:

Usmanov’s money looks interesting, he might give Wenger an empty check but we dont know the kind of person he is.

He might not be patient with Wenger , he might want results quicker that the Roman of the Chavs.

He might start medling with the picking or buying of players.
[I listened to Rafa Ben yesterday i felt sorry for him , the guy doesn’t know the state of Demba ba because he is not in charge and doesn’t know what the latest is , which means it wasn’t is decision to buy Demba ba]

Now Wenger with all is pride and ego, cannot work under such conditions.

Usmanov may be richer but he may not be the right person for Arsenal nor is Stan unfortunately.

Therefore i blame the board who decided to cash in and left the club to a man that has no idea about football.

  100. rico says:

SD – we are caught between the devil and the deep blue sea….

But sure as heck, we won’t be any worse under AU surely?

At least he has said he will invest and he will respect our history….

What he would do about AW could prove to be very interesting….

  101. SD London says:

    Scum clinch Holtby deal
Swampies have agreed a deal to sign Schalke and Germany star Lewis Holtby this summer.

This looks familiar where everybody signs new players and Arsenal just osbserve and watch until the window closes.

  102. rico says:

    Tiresome isn’t it SD…

    Re the wages Will?

Even if AU took over, I would hate to see us become a club that paid out that kind of money.

If we signed Messi, or maybe Ronaldo then I’d break the bank, but otherwise, no chance….

  103. SD London says:

Why oh why is Ronaldo not extending his contract?

I am sure by next season a club is going to pay £100 Mil for a player and £350 000 per week salary .

Rico, we are not gonna sign Messi and Ronaldo – Wenger missed because he was too stingy.

Maybe Giroud will surprise us 🙂

  104. rico says:

He wants a Manure return SD, but will he get it? I am not convinced…

I’m not sure we need either, Fergie had one of them but even he couldn’t keep him. The nearest we ever got was Anelka…

I’m sure Giroud will be fine, as a replacement for Chamakh 😉

  105. vida says:

i just read that m’vila has arrived in london for is medical with arsenal. How many times can player have a medical but never sign?

  106. Will XL says:

    yes rico, re the wages.

As a fan, How do u differentiate between two clubs that spend that kind of money. Especially for those of us who dont live in the area? All they are supporting is the jersey and the logo? No ideals, no style of play? no identity? If all that sets them apart is the players that choose to take their money, then what really makes one different from the other?

  107. DutchGooner10 says:

SD just poking a bit. Keeping you on your toes. 😉

Funny how Arsene was being drawn to comment on Holtby and next thing you’re served is a cold shower claiming we missed out. Please…….. F*ck off shit stirring journos. We know you’re scrapping HH for ideas and intrigue.

  108. Will XL says:

The day that Arsenal stops having standards and ideals is the day I become a casual supporter and no longer a full fledged fan. Football is no longer about philosophies, coaching abilty and tactical insight. Its about How much money you can spend… Unless you’re Barcelona who I must applaud.

The day Arsenal joins the cash race is the day I stop watching.

  109. rico says:

I don’t really know Will, guess ‘they’ become football fans and choose the side that looks like it will do the best..

Let’s not forget that Arsenal have many many fans who support the club because of Wenger and not because of the club…

In fact, let me put that another way, they are Wenger fans, rather than Arsenal fans….

  110. rico says:

Dg, spooky isn’t it – I bet he knew Holtby was on his way to Spurs when he made that comment to the Daily Mail….

  111. SD London says:

    Dutch ,
I think Wenger gives too much press conferences, i think he talks every two days and the media are enjoying it . The whole scenario doesn’t even help our team .

He needs to be scarce as much as possible and only talk on match days.

  112. rico says:

The thing is Will, right now the club don’t need to become like Chelsea or City have been. We don’t need major investment on the pitch.

The other two clubs had to spend mega amounts to make them what they are today, we probably need around £80-100 million invested. Some of which could be re-couped by selling etc….

  113. DutchGooner10 says:

SD if you contrive like politicians there’s much to explain to keep leverage on your side. It’s meaningless chatter but gives the impression of open discussion and transparent management.

  114. Will XL says:

SD I applaud barca because they know who they are and they play the way they do regardless of the situation or circumstance. ..and they are successful while doing so too. Even more significant is that they do it with mostly home grown players. They won a La Liga match by multiple goals, starting 11 home grown players. thats remarkable and something every football club should aspire to.

Rico, ill be content as long as we maintain some ideals and standards.

  115. tsGH says:

    Evening all…

You know you support a crap team when caughtoffside stop linking you to players…

Holtby to scums? I am not bitter but the truth is he is another player who was supposed to be the dogs nuts but has not completed a match since Chamakh discovered fish grease can be used as hair gel… I think Aneke will offer more than he will to the EPL imho. Remember Aneke was wanted by Barca 2 years ago…

I wonder how Johans discussion and medical is going or went as he flew out of the country yesterday evening?

  116. Joaquim Moreira says:

    hello!
Ba, Debuchy, Holtby (next season)…. not good news.
if Totts reach the CL they will be the champions next year.

  117. Joaquim Moreira says:

Chamakh will be ineligible for the Hammers’ Premier League visit to Emirates Stadium later this month. good…

  118. tsGH says:

Olivier Sadran and Casanova have both confirmed to media that even though firm enquiry has been made for Capoue from a London club, there is no way he will be allowed to leave… L’Equipe..

  119. goonster says:

rico apparently our interest wasn’t strong enough to sway him. lewis is a gooner, that i know. bummer though. oh well we ve still got gerwanko and le squid. la di da.

  120. goonster says:

hahahahaha lee, nah am beat. clorinda ripped me to shreds. am done cassanoving. am looking for a honest woman to settle down with….hey rico have you got any cousins by chance?

  121. goonster says:

i would take him lee…….he ll give those slackers on our team a few things to think about. i won’t begrudge him if he headbutts a few on the pitch!

  122. goonster says:

awww shucks, am serious maam. i ve cleaned up my acts. i can do without flirting now. am a good guy now. been to the rehab and all. come on. be a pal and hook a desperate man up. you owe me one remember?

  123. goonster says:

good lee maybe that would be the tipping point. he ll probably resign and leave us the hell alone. yikes am going over to the dark side. damn you gambon. you can’t eat my soul!

  124. rico says:

🙂 goonie, no point, they are too far away…

They would be cracking, just the reason why it will never happen….

  125. goonster says:

hey what do you mean to far away? am a globe trotter remember? unless you mean uranus or something? come on maam, am desperate!

  126. Will XL says:

AW said france isnt putting out quality like they were 10 or 15 years ago. He said Spain and Germany are the hot spots. Maybe thats why the Lopez and Villa fascination, and the Holtby interest before he snubbed us.

  127. goonster says:

hey kev, how’s london? working huh? good for you buddy. i ll be working too in a few days time. gosh how do i tell mama? God help me.

  128. rico says:

I’m done for the day guys…

Have a good one all, enjoy whatever you are doing and hope that tomorrow, Wenger shocks us all….

Villa, M’Vila and Sakho would do me 😉 (sorry Lee)

    Night all….

  129. Adam says:

Kev. You should have dropped by. We had brown rice and vegetables with lots of crispy broccoli, chilli, garlic, mixed seeds and raisins, cooked and served with Japanese soy sauce. Mrs Adam couldn’t resist a brick-sized chunk of chilli chocolate afterwards though. You know what a chunky woman she is. 🙂

  130. allezkev says:

Adam, that sounds delicious. You must alert me next time. 😉

Stan, Mrs Adam is quite an impressive woman.
I fear she would devour you in the blink of an eye..

Fortunately for you, she is a Lady…

  131. tsGH says:

Did anyone notice the open training session where MA08 and AW were in discussion… it seems like MA08 is the captain hmmm

  132. Lee says:

AK I’m on an alcohol ban for Jan, I met dad for a ruby last night as I turn up at the restaurant he’s sat there with a cobra for each of us. I declined and ordered an orange & lemonade……curry needs beer!!!!

  133. Adam says:

Stan. She wants to come with me when I next visit Arnhem to stay at the Tulip which I know you are familiar with.

  134. allezkev says:

Lee, you a man, with an iron will…

    I doubt that I could have declined a Cobra…

Sunday is gonna be difficult for me.
No beer is gonna be purgatory.

Been checking out a new gym.
    It’s gotta be done… 🙁

  135. Lee says:

Not overly Adam, I had my wife’s locusts (family) over devouring all my alcohol and food, so I had to be extra vigilant. They are from south of the river…….

  136. allezkev says:

Verm on the way out Adam???
Hmm, I suppose it’s a possibility, nuffink would surprise me from Arsenal Football Franchise.
I like Lee’s trio of signing’s. Get them and I might recapture my enthusiasm for this season of broken dreams…

  137. Adam says:

Lee. I used to work south of the river but my passport expired. I can only get over there under a blanket in the back of Kev’s cab now.
They like a bit of grub do they then? 🙂

  138. Lee says:

If its free Adam, oh yes! Then there’s the light fingered aspect to consider….they’d nick the eyes out of your head if you weren’t looking! 😆
