Wenger being lined up by the FA? Leave Our Man Alone!……

I wrote a post a little while ago suggesting that we are somewhat harshly treated by the Footballing Authority and the referees who act on their behalf.

Only three weeks into the new season and we have already suffered a staggering number of suspensions while other teams more physical than us are receiving none.

I also suggested that there may have been something going on behind the scenes that I wasn’t aware of.

Well one particular Sunday morning I popped down my local shop to get my newspaper, my usual Sunday Red Top had shut down so I picked up The Sunday People and went off home and headed straight to the back pages to catch up on the Arsenal gossip.

It was then I read an article written by a journalist called Dave Kidd, the headline was:

Time for England to become Wenger-land.

Kidd’s article suggested that the FA are already involved in a ‘Secret Squirrel’ search of a manager to take over from Fabio Capello. Right then the penny dropped!

That man could very well be our own Arsene Wenger.

Kidd’s report went on to suggest that should we have another ‘painful season’ the FA would be more than happy as they would then be able to try and tempt him away from Arsenal.

He also believes that the Frenchman would be the perfect man for the job, after all he speaks very good English and holds an honorary OBE, he even comments about how his touch-line antics make him as much of an English eccentric as John Cleese or Tommy Cooper!

Ok, I know what you are all thinking, the newspapers saying that Wenger is almost English and well-respected is not exactly what the newspaper reporters  have been writing for quite a while now,  so they must want something – well, maybe they do and maybe it’s our Manager.

So going back to my theory about how we are mistreated by the referees and the FA, well maybe that is their cunning plan and has been all along?

We keep getting suspensions, we are all too often on the receiving end of nasty tackles without protection and we then end up having to play important fixtures with key players missing.

On top of all of that, the press then love to print mass negative propaganda about all things Arsenal and along the way they are trying to unsettle the fans.

Why?

Well I think if the press/media can get the fans angry, they will turn on the manager, who in turn will eventually walk away – straight into the path of the FA!

I know I may sound as if I’m being paranoid but to be honest, I think the FA would do anything to prize our boss away.

Having seen our players get sent off in important games, the way we always play Barcelona with ten men, having our team whittled down to bare bones just as we come to play Manchester United  really angers me and something isn’t right.

On top of all that, we have heard from old Arsenal players recently, they all seen to have a say in what Wenger is doing – they have been contradicting Wengers tactics, disagreeing with his choice of signings and even suggesting he has totally lost his way!

Is it just me or do other supporters think the same way as these Ex players?

Personally, I believe Wengers latest signings are just what we asked for, experience coupled with youth!

Am I wrong?

Mertesacker, Gervinho, Santos, Arteta, Benayoun, Jenkinson and Oxlaide-Chamberlain – are they no good or what? (You can add Ryo to that list as it’s his first season)

They all look pretty good to me and regardless of what the papers or ex players say, I think we may just have started building a team for now and for the future and as far as I’m concerned, the FA, the Press and ex Players can take a run and jump. They can do us all a favour and leave us alone, keep their noses out of our business and treat us with the dignity they show other teams they choose not to write about!

We don’t need them; we have sixty thousand supporters who show up every other week, we have fantastic away supporters and millions more supporters from every corner of the world.

All I say is give us the benefit of a level playing field, leave us Gooners alone and then we’ll show just who and what we really are…

As for the FA and their hunt for a new England Manager, well, there’s always ‘Arry, he’ll walk out  on his current club straight away,  just like he has every other club when a better offer has come around and even the offer of the England job has got to be better than where he is now….. 😉

Just ask the Wally with the Brolly, he did quite well out of them… 😉

    Morning all

Top Post Steve, well the FA are in for a shock, we are going to get our season back on track this weekend, our discipline will get better and we will no longer gift the refs our yellow and red cards…

    I hope anyway 😉

They will get Arry, the media love him….

  2. goonster says:

Morning Rico……leave the bloody FA alone let’s get back to what’s important…..THE ARSENAL. Looking forward to tomorrow ain’t ya? Saw a few clips of the OX. That boy is something else! Hope he gets a run out tomorrow. He’s a better player than theo at the same age. What a talent. He’s definitely going to be up there with the best in a few years. Was a bit skeptical when he signed but he definitely won me over with his display for the U21. COYGs

  3. rico says:

    Hi goonster,

    Chamberlain says:

“If there’s a shot on I like to take the opportunity as well, and I like passing the ball – which is one of the reasons I came to Arsenal.

“But I’m a player that likes to come up with an end product – whether that’s a goal, an assist or helping the team to get good results.”

Good, I just hope Wenger doesn’t stop him shooting – he looks a great prospect but we can’t expect too much too soon, he looks much stronger than Theo was at 18….

  4. Splurghh says:

Absolute bunkum. Nonsense. The reason we get so many decisions against us is because most of the premiership refs are northern. They like that they don’t have to travel so far and they have arse kissing banter the “good ol northern lads”. Whether they admit it or not this is true. Plus, the FA has nothing to do with us getting screwed against Barca, it’s UEFA.

Finally, the FA has always said the next England manager will be English. I think it is much more likely to be twitchy ‘Arry down the road. We have nothing to worry about with Wenger as long as the insane hate brigade don’t become too big. We have to stick with him and support the team. Wenger has always honoured his contract and always will. He won’t walk away. Nice theory but no. No way.

  5. goonster says:

Somebody slap the taste out of shearer’s mouth. What a turd? Why he’s a football pundit is beyond me. Is his brain addled or something? Saying we didn’t really strengthen our team with our recent acquisition while lauding stoke for bringing in “quality players”. since when did Cameron Jerome Wilson palacios and bean pole crouch represent quality. Lord give me strength.

  6. rico says:

goonster – just been reading that article, what a turd Shearer is indeed, another pundit who wants us to fail…

  7. goonster says:

Tell me about it. This same twat crooned last year how we didn’t have a experience and lacked leaders now after we bought a few experienced players he’s still harping about like a one legged trollop. You said it Rico all we need to do is keep winning and they all eat shit cause pies are way too good for the likes of these.

  8. rico says:

Exactly, just take each game as it comes, put out the strongest we can and get the points on the board. This weekend is the last for Song, Gervinho and Jenkinson to sit out.

  9. goonster says:

Yeah rico….we ll finally put them all where they belong….read somewhere wenger might be tempted to start Gibbs….I think its too early to start gibbs. He needs to be fully recovered before being thrown into action. Give santos a starting berth I say. We need to attack the swan songgers*winks* so let’s go gong ho on them and rack in the goals to improve our goal difference. COYGs

  10. goonster says:

Ohh man……where did you hear that? Bummer. Was really looking forward to seeing him tear the swansea defense a new one. Oh well its gibsy all the way. Come on!

  11. Adam says:

Morning Rico. Surely someone at the FA must look at the Gervinho incident with Barton and ask why the Arsenal player ends up being sent off and then suspended for three games, yet Barton gets a yellow card and hence no suspension. Why haven’t they worked out that what should have happened is that both should have been sent off and a penalty awarded for Arsenal for violent conduct by Barton. When you consider the potential cost of this refereeing error it seems ludicrous to me that Barton receives no further sanction and nor does his club and Walton, the referee, also strolls on to his next game with no penalty and very little criticism for his failure to enforce the rules in a fit and proper way. Where there is no accountability things drift as we have seen over the past few years at our club, or is that Stan Kroenke’s club?

  12. rico says:

    😆 Lee

Hi Adam, Newcastle were fined for allowing their players to be out of control and if only Gevinho hadn’t slapped Barton, then the incident would have been dealt with differently i’m sure…

Barton was as fault for the whole incident but once again, it was over shadowed by our player retaliating…

Our players need to take a step back from such incidents, difficult yes but if they were to, referees would see things differently i am sure..

  13. itchyblls says:

wouldn’t surprise me one bit with the fa-the’d love it if wenger jumped ship for them, knowing at the same time they’d shafted us-as for the refs ,what’s new-there is a hardcore of around six whom you can guarrantee will f**k us up during a match one way or the other-whenever i see any of their names,i know for sure our chances of getting a result are slim & if we’re against MANURE with them reffing,we might as well not turn up.they are as follows,in no particular order:mike dean, fat phil dowd, howard”manure webb”,chris foy, peter walton, lee mason & martin atkinson-go check some of our games with these c88ts in charge-you’ll be surprised-then again, maybe you wont!

  14. Adam says:

Rico. I hear what you say, but the FA has to be keeping a constant eye on the game in general and deciding if it is in a fit and proper state and that a balance and semblance of fairness is being maintained. I think they got it wrong here and that Walton should have been publicly reminded of the rules and his obligation to enforce them. That was a very bad incident for the club and you do have to wonder if Wenger told the players in no uncertain terms that Barton would try to get someone sent off because that is what Barton does. If he did then that makes Gervinho naive but what it says about the idiotic Song I am too polite to mention.

  15. rico says:

itchy – agree re the referees and all those you mention make me cringe when i see their names, i was shocked when Webb gave us a penalty at OT, that’s for sure but we need to stop helping them, be more disciplined and when they muck it up, the club needs to make representation to the FA…

Let the ref be the talking point, not our players….

  16. rico says:

Adam – i’m in agreement, the whole incident was dealt with wrongly, Walton is supposed to be an experienced ref, why after not giving us a penalty is he jogging off up the pitch and not watching the game.

Why, after not giving a penalty did he not book Gervinho for diving?

The answer to that is because he didn’t dive.. Barton is a slime ball and yet again he got away with it and yes, the FA should have given him a red card after the incident but they can’t as Walton had already dealt with the incident – it’s wrong, the whole review system needs to be reviewed 😉

    Song… I’m too polite too ….

  17. g clarke says:

sky sports have put worse spin on arsenal as pos for months is there any legal means to stop this ,the club players manager fans must be affected by this media attack doent happen to other clubs

  18. goonster says:

Nothing new though….just the same old wengerish comments he makes. He actually admitted knowing vermaelin ll require a surgery and that jack the lad could be out for an extended period. Crazy isn’t it. My gut feeling is he was forced to buy due to their injuries.

  19. rico says:

i know this sounds awful but it’s a good job they were injured then, otherwise he wouldn’t have bought and our squad would be very weak….

  20. goonster says:

That’s a risky line to tow rico. He got away with it now but might not in the future. Wenger gambles too much with our team. Its heartbreaking.

  21. EastSidePaul says:

Hey everyone, more days without internet or tv, UPC coming next week to fix both problems!

    Any Arsenal news?!

  22. goonster says:

Here’s hoping we don’t suffer any fresh injuries to the backline cause if I see djourou lining up any time soon I might lose it. The mert/kozzer partnership won’t really be tested this weekend but expect fireworks against blackburn.

  23. goonster says:

Yeah but not this weekend. We ll tear them to shreds. The players can smell blood. I see a white wash tomorrow guys with our players playing to win the hearts of the faithful? No chance!

  24. Joaquim Moreira says:

This weekend is not so badly have a few players suspend. Don’t forget we have an important match on the middle of the next week for the CL. It’s necessary replace a few players betwwen the League and the CL. The most important is have a team preparing and enought good players fit for all the competitions. And this is my doubt. I think we haven’t enought good players in all the positions.

  25. rico says:

Well, i will hold reservation 😉

Hi JM – i also think we are lacking a strong tall midfielder and another CH – i don’t think wenger can think about the CL game until after tomorrow, tomorrow is about three league points…

  26. arsenal fan says:

    hi guys…great post
but i dont think wenger will go….
cant wait for swansea here it is a delayed game not live….so not happy at all…..though i will get to watch it afterwards…

  27. Savage says:

    Hey people

I would love Wenger to go on and manage England, but if he thinks the pressure is bad now, wait until he gets into the England hot seat. If there’s one person who is a continually hated figure, it’s England manager. But if he won the big one… hmmm, nah, they’s still hate him 🙂

Really looking forward to the game. We’ve brought in some quality signings and I simply can’t wait to watch them in action.

Watching the Arsenal … happy days!

  28. goonster says:

Have you guys seen mikel arteta’s wife? What a tasty dish. We ve got two hotties for a price of one. Wonder what monkey faced bale’s girl friend looks like? Hmmm sightings anyone?

  29. agirlagunner says:

Boo! Good one, Steve. The media will always have it in for us. And before the FA whisk AW off; let him first deliver our back-to-back quadruple. Yes, yes. I don’t ask for much.

rico, I did tell you, UK visas are impossible. 😉 How are you? What’s cooking.

  30. agirlagunner says:

Okay. You have to stop. Next to Chinese, I loooove Mexican. Has intersnooze ever felt this long to you? I swear, the wait’s been endless.

  31. agirlagunner says:

It will take a run of good, no scratch that, fantastic results before we ever really begin to forget that disastrous game. But our boys on the other hand should just concentrate on bagging our three points.

  32. rico says:

I’m with you on that, like i said earlier, one game at a time, concemtrate and get three points and a good, strong performance..

Just hope this team don’t take Swansea too lightly, they will be up for tomorrows fixture…

  33. agirlagunner says:

I should imagine that our boys, old and new, know better than that, rico. I hope they’re angry to the tune of goals not red cards. I’m pretty tired of those. And we’ve really suffered for those silly reds, haven’t we?

  34. rico says:

i’m not so sure agag, not if the end of last season is anything to go by…

swansea are a footballing side which should make for a good game and definately no more stupid tackles, soft yellows and reds, play our game and score many goals….

Too true agag, we don’t need a red card for a long long time….

  35. allezkev says:

    Afternoon Gooners. Tea break.
Conspiracy theory eh Steve? Like it mate.
Dave Kidd btw is an empty vessel. How that prat earns a living out of writing is a total joke. Just goes to show that talent is at the bottom of the list for getting a job on a red-top.
Hiya Rico. Just had a delicious rock cake, hmm.

  36. agirlagunner says:

I’m not sure either, rico, but if I keep saying it, I might well believe it myself. Gulps. Haha. Heads will roll if we get another red. Can’t even blame D&D now. Heh. I am kidding. I hope Denilson’s doing well so that he fetches a good price in the market; and Diaby I hope is recuperating properly. We need all the help we can get, and to be fair, when he’s in the mood, he’s pretty stellar.

  37. allezkev says:

Gibbs tomorrow? Santos on the bench then!?
Yeah agag, driving till Sunday night.
But half a day off Saturday. 🙂
    COYG

  38. agirlagunner says:

I bake rock cakes, too Lady rico. And it’s not the type that anyone enjoys. 😀

Seems like Gibbs it is, AK. Come on, Kieran. Show Clichy how easily he’s been replaced. That’s not so bad. Sunday will come soon enough. I hope you see a good game, AK. 🙂

  39. allezkev says:

That’s gonna be a massive game Rico. Is it on ITV?
If you offered it now, i’d take a draw in that one.
    Who we got in CCup?

  40. rico says:

Oops, it’s Tuesday Kev, not Wednesday and it’s on Sky Sports….

If we can go there and get a result, it would be awesome….

  41. agirlagunner says:

I have a good feeling about Dortmund. They are no pushovers, but we’ll be on a high from tomorrow’s thrashing of Swansea, we’ll make light work of Wednesday. Gulps.

    Unbite-able ones, rico. 😉

  42. rico says:

I think this weekends game is so important, not just for the three points but for the rebuilding of confidence, that may sound obvious i know but a good result will give us a great boost before playing Dotmund and of course we will have Gervinho back for that game…

agag, i had a feeling you meant that kind 😉

  43. agirlagunner says:

Exactly, rico. Something to build upon. The new signings should bring in some calm and stability. Besides, they are boys, and even the obvious needs to be explained to them. 😀 Is Song back for tomorrow?

  44. rico says:

Not tomorrow, he’s out, as is Jenkinson and Gervinho, the final game of their bans….

But, Frimpong will be the rock cake of our midfield 🙂

  45. agirlagunner says:

At least, it’s not a more difficult team. Frimpong will be, rico, my version of rock cakes, that is. Stone wall. Haha.

  46. rico says:

Evening Steve, hope the editing was ok 😉

Yep, a bit of news and that’s our new striker hasn’t got his visa and won’t play tomorrow… Wenger has told all that the late signings were all in hand and not a knee jerk reaction after our last fixture…

  47. rico says:

I like Pingpong agag, right attitude, right passion for the club and he’s built like a brick wall…

Watch out Essien, this kid will be better than you ….

  48. agirlagunner says:

Hey, steve. A very interesting post. Wouldn’t otherwise have crossed mine, to be honest. 🙂

Pingpong is a beast. He does seem to enjoy rampaging down the pitch. If he were to learn Essien’s silky skills, he’ll be better than Essien himself.

  49. goonster says:

Evening good people…..the excitement is fever pitch. Not long to go folks still it feels like its been ages since I saw the boys in red and white. COYGs

  50. stevepalmer1 says:

Yep, you made it readable Rico thank you
I would like to see as many of our new players as posible, hopefully they will all stay on, give us some idea of what we have to work with, I believe we have a good mix and am looking forward to them all being available. The last game of the ban and about time too, I hope Wenger has plans for our champions league match, would be a good idea to have a good stand in, maybe Keown could spare us a couple of nights, not knocking Pat, but he did look like a fish out of water. And these games are important.

  51. stevepalmer1 says:

The Frimp has got up my nose really, chooseing Ghana instead of England, but if your not English your not English i suppose. He will just have to do it for The Arsenal, and i will warm to him again.

  52. rico says:

    evening goonster…

Steve, nah, i just added the link to the article…

I think we could see a few of the new boys, definately Merts and Arteta, Yossi may be on the bench, together with Chamberlain and Ryo – Santos, Gervinho and Park aren’t able to play, nor is Jenkinson 🙁

  53. stevepalmer1 says:

Sorry Hi Agag i was replying to you, and didn’t put your name, must be my age.Didn’t cross your mind because you were thinking of shopping no doubt.

  54. rico says:

Re the CL, i can’t see wenger bringing in Keown, maybe the solution would be to draft in Banfield for the two matches??

Banfield is a manager, Rice is not and never will be….

  55. goonster says:

I just know we re gonna wipe the floor with swansea. A lot of the old players will wanna prove a point and won’t wanna lose their first team spots to the newbies and all the new boys will wanna win the hearts of the fans and silence a few critics who had written them off before a ball was kicked.

  56. rico says:

goonster – that doesn’t fill me with confidence, not coming from the man who said we had definately signed Juan Mata 😉 😉

  57. goonster says:

yeah yeah Rico….open the wounds. give me an ass whupping. Anyway watch this space. I ll say I told you so this time tomorrow.

  58. agirlagunner says:

Online distractions, Steve. “Buy Now” buttons. Tut tut. 😉

Somehow, I find it hard to imagine that we bid €30 mil for M’vila. Maybe the other clubs did. Citeh buy with no regard for cost, so they must have been one of the bidders.

  59. goonster says:

We don’t need m’villa agag we ve got a beast named frimpong. He’s gonna be immense for us a few seasons down the line. Essien who? Make way for the real deal.

  60. Adam says:

Somehow nice to see that delightful man Gary Cock chucked out of Man City after hi revolting e-mail incident. Just goes to show how arrogance always follows an injection of cash. Moral compass anyone?

  61. rico says:

Hi Adam – but he didn’t send it did he? If he didn’t then he’s not the right one to go…

Regardless, the whole incident was just disgraceful….

  62. Adam says:

Rico. Oh yes, I forgot. Someone broke into his office at the ground, made his way to Cock’s computer, hacked into his e-mail account with the specific intention of sending an abusive e-mail to a player’s mum who is suffering from cancer. When questioned Cock said “It weren’t me guv, I’m Gary Cock and I have a lot of money. I can do what I like, not that I did this of course. I am a shy, retiring sort of guy and not the arrogant, preening dickhead I am so often perceived to be”.

  63. agirlagunner says:

Goonster, Essien is a crock, but is some player to live up to. I’ve always wanted him wearing our colors (plus, Torres, another crock). In any case, it’s Hazard I want. 🙂 Which means we’re not getting him.

That’s funny, Adam. Cook deserves it. I find it hard to imagine that email sent by someone just making mischief. What a prize pric_!!! Absolutely disgraceful, rico. No defense for it.

  64. rico says:

I was being more objective Adam, if it was him then forget the resigning, he should be in front of a magistrate…

if it wasn’t him, then whoever it was should be bought to justice, what has been done is gutter…..

  65. Adam says:

Rico. I am afraid being an utter dickhead is not punishable in law. Personally I think it sends out a message about Man City.

  66. agirlagunner says:

Of course, of course, rico. vdW at RB. I want Hazard in MF. I also wanted Stekelenberg on goal, but I am happy enough with our Pole, a few notable results excepting.

  67. stevepalmer1 says:

We hear stories every day about our fine club, Wenger Players whoever, we know the gutter press will write anything to sell a paper we should worry about the lie’s they print about us and not get involved in other clubs activities, if this has happened, i am sure their people will find who is responsible, lets keep our noses clean and worry about The Arsenal and not about our competitors missgivings

  68. rico says:

Adam – he can be prosecuted if he sent it…. sometimes money won’t buy silence either….

agag – M’vila & Cahill will do me in Jan, we don’t need another RB, not now we have Jenkinson…

regardless of how much eye candy VdW would bring 😉

We have a cutie in Arteta 😛

  69. agirlagunner says:

Aha, so you find our new no.8 “cute”. KT will laugh at you. 😀

And anyway, vdW might be shifted to the left flak. 🙂

Goonster, easy now! It’s Friday, go have a drink.

  70. goonster says:

Can’t even type right..look my eyes twitching…..damn you international break. Scrap the damn thing says I!

  71. allezkev says:

    Haha Stan, calm down.
I don’t think it’s gonna be a walkover tomorrow Stan.
Swansea will be well aware of the circumstances surrounding this game.
Swansea will arrive knowing that it’s a bad time to be playing Arsenal. They won’t come out and open up i reckon but aim to keep things tight.
Arsenal need the fans to create a rocking atmosphere and to stay with the team if there isn’t an early goal.
As Rico said, the win is paramount.

  72. allezkev says:

For me, it’s all about 3 points.
Then it’s the performance and influence of Arteta and Mertesaker.
Shame about Park Chu Young. But why, after all this time, are Arsenal STILL WAITING for a visa..!?

  73. Xavier says:

Good write up. However I am not too sure that refs being against us is as a result of the FA wanting Wenger. I’d say refs tend to favour Man Utd hence they would knick off any amount of points they can off us.

How the FA don’t react to shoddy refereeing beats my imagination but all Arsenal have to do is play their game and avoid on-field antics that put the refs in that position to give us red cards. Let’s play football and get on with that. Focus. Focus and Focus!!!!!
