Wenger all but confirms his future.

Morning all.

What a dreadful start to the morning for me. I thought it was Wednesday, I did a match preview only for Andrew to remind me, it’s Tuesday! I’ve had to write something else since. Forgive me, it’s rushed.

Chelsea hammered Boro last night to send the Northern side crashing down to the Championship. Conte needs just one more victory and the Premier League crown is theirs. I hope they get it which in itself doesn’t sit well with me but it’s the better option. None of us wanted the neighbours the pip them to the post. It’ll be an incredible achievement by Conte. First season, first PL trophy and he might yet do the double if his side beat us at Wembley. Rumour is Barcelona want him, an offer not many would turn down. Only Arsene perhaps. lol

Talking of the Frenchman, he’s been giving his Press Conference this morning. It’s not good news. They’ll be no DoF brought into the club he said, mind you, he thinks a DoF directs traffic, which in other words means he’s staying put because if he wasn’t, why would he even be talking about such things as he wouldn’t be at the club. He said he is the manager of Arsenal and as long as he remains so, he will decide what goes on on the technical front. In other words, he remains in control.

Now that’s all cleared up, it looks like we’ll be heading into a new season with everything staying the same. Arsene Wenger as manager, his same old coaching staff, same old frugal ways, same old tactics… blah blah blah…

Another thing he’s said is the lack of a top four place means nothing, certainly when it comes to contract extensions which if he believes is true, is crazy. Not only do the best players we have want to be performing against the best teams in Europe, in order to attract the better players, we need Champions League football. Can you see either of Ozil or Sanchez settling for Europa? Me neither although I can’t see either staying put in any case, not once it’s confirmed that the Frenchman is staying which I’m sure will be quite soon.

Of course I could be very wrong. He could be playing with the media, he could be teasing us fans in a way he likes to. It’s his way. A man with power controlling all, knowing full well his comments will anger, hurt those of us who are so desperate to see change.

Arsene Wenger is not the best man for Arsenal. Once he perhaps was, now he’s not. He’s stale, the club are stale and the ski-slope which we are sliding down has just got much steeper.

Oh my days as Joey in Benidorm says, oh my days….

  3. Joaquim Moreira says:

Fabregas could replaced Cazorla role in the team.
If we had bought him in the August probably we could be in other position in the table.

  4. allezkev says:

All the AKB’s will be full of self satisfaction over that prospect whilst preparing their excuses for next seasons midway collapse.

It’s the referees fault, the grass is too long, it’s a media conspiracy, it’s Brexit, a global warming, but never the Lord Wenger….

Last one out the door don’t forget to turn the lights out…

    Good post Rico, well done…

Arsenal vs Sunderland could be a glimpse into next season.

I picked up two Yanks at London Bridge yesterday, going to Chelsea for the soccer match…

I asked them if they followed NFL.

They both said yes and asked if I was a fan as well.

Well I dodged that question and asked what they thought of the LA Rams?

They both said that the Rams had seriously underachieved for many years.

    I asked why?

They said that the owner won’t invest enough to make the Rams competitive….

  6. allezkev says:

Hi Adam, so you’ll be an armchair fan next season then?
It’s not that bad mate, you’ll save a lot of dough, save a lot angst.

  7. potter says:

Cesc despite people absolutely hating him in the same way they hated RVP in the long run they both were right. They both went on to win medals whilst dear old Arsene stagnated.. Looks like the power struggle has been won and it will be interesting to see what Gazidis and Keswick do now. My two tickets are available to anyone that wants them for the Europa league experience.

  8. potter says:

Wenger cut his nose off to spite his face re Cesc , A much more suited player to English football , we had a buy back but it would have hurt Wenger’s pride . let Ozil go bring back Cesc get another left back ( the Saed rumour and a forward that has mobility and it might turn things round. I just hope that we do the right things and try to win the Europa . Like the poisoned dwarf’s situation it might be a way back into the big money spinner.

  9. potter says:

Also if the Bellerin to Barca with Rakatic coming our way I would be quite happy Cesc and Rakatic two 29 year old experienced pivots to hold the team together when it all starts to fall apart.

  10. Meerkat says:

Would Cesc even want to return though? He was hurt at the snub when he wanted to come back.
Arsene will never admit he was wrong about him anyway, so………..

This all just goes to show, if there was ever any doubt, that Kroenke et al, don’t give a stuff for the club and it’s fans.

    No DoF, no changes.
In Arsene we RUST! Just wait until we get stuffed in the cup final!

    Afternoon and thanks Rico.

I dont agree with the bit about players not wanting to join us if we are not in the CL !………………pay the going rate and they will sign !…………………………………No CL didn`t stop Pogba, Mikhityran and Ibrahimobitch signing for Manshafter did it !…………..and they will have to win Europa League to get in CL for next season……that`s not a guarentee………………come on Ajax !
If Manshafter fail to win EL will it stop big players signing next season as that will make the Mancs a former CL side !………………………………it`s all about the money and we all know it, so not only do we need a new manager, but one who is not only a top quality technical coach, but one who will pay top dollar for any mercenary we can attract !………………..they are all mercenaries !

I wonder why Zlatan and Pogba signed for Manshafter without CL ?……………………………..
“Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the best-paid player in the Premier League on £367,640 a week (his goal bonus is worth £2.86m), while midfielder Paul Pogba earns a basic wage of £165,588 a week and will receive an annual loyalty bonus in excess of £3.4m from next year.”………………………………….there`s probably some reason why, but I just cant sem to find out why ! 😆

  12. rico says:

    Afternoon guys.

I think the ship has long sailed re Fabregas…

You have a point Lc but we have an ageing and past it manager… And, we don’t pay either a big transfer fee or a huge wage…

  13. Le Coq Monster says:

That`s because Stan likes to look at our healthy bank statements ! ………………..brought to him by the nice old french man with the loveliest of thick hair 🙂

  14. Herb's Army says:

    Hi Rico and HH.

    Hi Cornwall.
Arsenal’s transfer policy is a shambles, and Wenger’s socialist wage-structure is doing more damage.
As I said a few weeks ago, I’d have a complete overhaul and get rid of all these passengers who collect a fortune for delivering nothing substantial in return.
The bigger question is, how attractive are Arsenal to any potential signing?
If, as we suspect, Arsenal drop out of CL into the Europa League they will not sign the same quality as United or Chelsea.
As well as paying wages well over the odds for players like Walcott, Gibbs, Mertesacker etc. Arsenal have a wage cap that they won’t break even for Alexis Sanchez.
It is a very strange paradigm that Arsenal find themselves in, because far from gaining an advantage from the stadium move, they find themselves paralysed because the administration has been shocking, and they make far too many expensive mistakes with the resources they do have.
I have deep deep concerns about Arsenal going forward.

  15. Le Coq Monster says:

That`s because he`s a tight fcuker !…………………unbelievable really seeing that it`s not his own money, let`s face it who wouldn`t spend somebody elses money if you could ?……………….just give the word HHers and I`ll spend all your money ! ……………………bet you`d rather have Arsene look after your money you contradicting hypocritical fcukers ! hahahahaha

  16. Herb's Army says:

Hey Rico, no problem, hope you’re good.
    Thanks for the Post.
Never before has a club so desperately needed change as much as Arsenal right now.
Some massive choices to be made by the Arsenal hierarchy.
Embrace the challenge or become a stale, worthless brand.

  17. rico says:

    Always a pleasure Herb… lol

Agree, massive decisions to be made but will the club make them? I’m not so sure they will. By the time Wengers reign is over, we’ll be much further off the top in England. As for Europe, well, I won’t even bother…

  18. potter says:

Having watched the first half of Juve – Monaco I have to say Iwouldn’t want Monaco’s manager . Leonardo Jardim Their defence is as bad as ours.

  19. Le Coq Monster says:

    Hi Herb.

It will be interesting once Wenger goes to see whether we are still confined to a wage structure cap as under Wenger ( or is it the owner ?)……………………..although according to this article we are not that far behind Chavs and the rest !…………………………….so maybe some are right that it is Wenger more than Kroenke in that he buys the wrong players and just doesn`t cut it tactically as the likes of Conte, Pochetino, Koeman etc`.

    Gr8 post rico

Gotta say, my interest in The Arsenal is waning a bit. “No one is bigger than the Club” is an old cliche I know, but that doesn’t ring true with the current manager. He thinks he is bigger than the The Club & does what he likes around the place.

If the truth be known, Sir Red Nose would have bought & sold The Arsenal current manager on the one street corner. Surely the current Arsenal manager isn’t deluded enough to think that managing for longer than the old sweaty sock will put him in the same category as him. AKB’s obviously do?

Anyway, rico, I hear you/read you, hang in there?

  21. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Allegri, proven trophy winner & I reckon a good chance he’d take The Arsenal job if offered it. Surely he would be better going forward than the current manager?

No, the best thing for The Arsenal going 4ward apparently is a minimum of 2 more years for the current set up, less Champions League & with a back 3. I don’t find that refreshing tbh.

  22. potter says:

Morning , but what of the other board members ? How many would walk ?
We have suffered from in fighting since the day that Dein borrowed from Fiszman to buy out PHW with a deal to repay which apparently Fiszman welched upon. Rumour and stories have abounded since then and it appears that it is continuing and always will do whilst the club feeds the information like a geriatric fight club .
I can only see the club declining or at least holding steady until the grim reaper clears out the place both in Denver and London. The new broom is going to have a very stiff head and make sure it doesn’t miss anything.
