Wenger admits we were rubbish……

Morning all….

Something happened overnight, the gremlins popped into my laptop and stole the match report. Either that, or I failed to hit the ‘save’ button. I know which is more likely and it’s definitely gremlins..

Gone! Normal service resumed tomorrow I hope….

Arsene Wenger has had this to say:

We were not very good offensively, we didn’t create enough chances. I felt we lacked sharpness and desire. I felt we lacked purpose in our game.

Why? It was more mental than physical. Considering our  performance and the result of the game, I don’t think we deserved more today.

It’s two points lost if you look at the target we had over Christmas, yes. It’s frustrating and  disappointing because we didn’t create a lot today after having scored five at Reading and seven against Newcastle.

When you sum it up, the (lack of) goal chances we created, there is not a lot to consider. Our game lacked purpose, lacked penetration, lacked speed. All the qualities we have usually, we didn’t see tonight.

Last night’s match really was awful to watch wasn’t it?

Not only were we poor ‘offensively’, we were pretty dire defensively too and as for Sagna, that’s not the first time this season he’s tried to clear a ball by passing it centrally and into danger! He really is going through a bad spell.

Southampton showed passion and commitment yet we showed very little in that department, in my opinion.

If Wenger is to sign any player(s) this transfer window, I hope they are prepared to roll their sleeves up and put a shift in each week because some of whom we have right now clearly aren’t…

We can dissect the game in the comments…

Have a good day all….

Sorry about the post guys and gals, but I really couldn’t be bothered to rewrite that game up…

    Morning all….

  2. Lee says:

    Morning Rico and all…
A bit like the team last night, just couldn’t be bothered…it’s going to be a long old season!

  3. W.A.T.H says:

No need to do a write up Rico we all saw for ourselves how very average we were.

Talks cheap Arsene time for action mate simple as that.

    Oh and Morning all………..

  4. rico says:

    Morning Lee..

The next few weeks could be even worse. Man City at home, Chelsea away and Stoke at home. Not forgetting of course a potential exit from the FA Cup…

Swansea will be ready for us on Saturday…..

  5. rico says:

Morning Wath, good point, don’t know why I bother with them tbh, especially on nights like last night….

  6. Rohan says:

DM please … Someone who can win the ball in midfield and keep us strong …. Unfortunately Arteta is not cutting it in the DM role .

  7. Adam says:

Rico. I think that the light-hearted banter we all just had on yesterday’s post actually masks two things. The first is obviously bitter disappointment. But secondly and more upsetting in fact is that we are caught in a classic Catch-22. There must be overwhelming agreement between anyone with eyes and a brain, that Arsene cannot motivate young millionaires to go out and play any more. That he is past it is surely plainly evident. There are plenty of teams with worse players than ours who put it in game after game.
But then, lurking like a malevolent shadow over everything, is Stan Syrup Kroenke. Arsenal and by definition its fans, are a business asset of his and we are told that he never sells assets, he only acquires them. How closely is our declining team and club linked to his stewardship? Newcastle at home, as you correctly pointed out, flattered to deceive. Southampton away is a far more meaningful result.

  8. terry says:

we really dont know how to change tempo of the game… when southampton was in control we should have slowed things down.. our movement up front was very poor…. we should have changed foramton once giroud was on to 4411
    Walcott
    Giroud
    Santi Jack Arteta Aoc
    Gibbs Vermy Koz Sagna

why cant we win the ball up front.. why can we press teams like they press us … why do we always shadow the player and not tackle and hussle them… u cannot win back the ball without trying to win it… if we just shadow them then its not gona work…

  9. Wavy says:

Knew we scored too many against newcastle. We should have saved1 or 2 for southampton, we might have won then.
What a woeful display and not for the first time this season!

  10. rico says:

Agree there Rohan, that position has to be the first…

SS’s report that Liverpool are hoping to end Sahin’s loan deal 😆

  11. rico says:

Adam – to a degree, these players should be able to motivate themselves, or are they just really fed up with what is going on as most of us are?

I really don’t know what the answer is any more. Yes, I want R&W in but then is AW the right man to be given the money that AU would no doubt want to invest…

  12. Wavy says:

Sagna – woeful! I have never seen him play so poorly. It was noticeable that sprinting with the ball at his feet was beyond him!
I may be wrong but I think his legs have gone along with his bottle?
Perhaps Jenks has earned his turn. After all practise makes perfect!?

  13. Adam says:

Rico. That is yet another angle to that Catch-22,
But, to comment on your point. History clearly shows us that they cannot motivate themselves. When you are getting millions each year, regardless, it seems as if you slip into a zone somewhere between apathy and torpor. You have nothing to prove. Your salary says you have made it. As for professional pride? Well, it seems that is for sale as well.
Given our squad, could you imagine Ferguson tolerating what this team is producing on a regular basis? No, neither can I? In fact, I find it hard to think of another manager who would.

  14. tsGH says:

    Morning all…

Don’t worry Rico about not writing in detail about the performance, because I think your headline sums things up perfectly.

This window will define our immediate future because it is obvious some players are either not interested or are utterly shite.

Players like Ox have gone backwards like Theo did when he was oddly selected to represent England at a tournament.

Then there is a small/big matter of a team that boost to be the 6th richest club in the world spending less than Everton and Aston Villa in the last 20 years…

And those are the facts imho, we can blame AW as much as we want but we are the only club in Europe that the owners never ever put their hands in their pocket. All they do is take out of this club. Even Al-Fayed and Mike Ashley worth only about £700M spend their own money on the club…

If Stan is on £10k a week (on the downlow) as owner of the club then he is recouping his investment quietly. That is daylight robbery in anyone’s book…

  15. frednerk says:

    Rico
    Rolling sleeves up………exactly that
Who wanted to win ……not one of our players showed
    .
Maybe wenger has got his words mixed up a bit:

It was more mental than physical.

Whats he talking about..he makes it sound like a game of effing chess.

What is so hard to take is the players lack the spirit and bollox for a fight.

We need someone in that box by the pitch shouting at them lazy gits

  16. rico says:

Wavy, I honestly don’t believe that Jenks deserved to be ‘dropped’ in the first place, hopefully he will start against Swansea in the FA Cup and cements his place…

Adam – I agree re the any other manager comment. I’m sure AW isn’t happy but there seldom appears to be any evidence to suggest he is doing anything to rectify the problem…

  17. frednerk says:

O one more thing to mention.
The best bit of skill by arsenal player

Podolski beating 3 players and running the wrong way to put us in the sh-t…
    He looked terrified.

  18. Adam says:

Rico. I don’t think he can do anything. He is a very decent man, but he is yesterday’s man operating in today’s football. Fergie is a mean old git but he doesn’t take the sort of shit that Wenger does from his players. Losing his best players year in, year out, has weakened Arsene’s grip I think. And he looks really, really ill too and has done for some while. Surely he will leave at the end of the season. As I asked some time ago, all that really matters is what happens next?

  19. rico says:

Hi Ts, I’m not sure players have actually gone backwards, they don’t become rubbish overnight. I think it runs deeper than that…

I thought Bould would be that man fred, but he and AW just sit….

  20. rico says:

That’s what I am kind of saying Adam, he’s probably trying to rectify things but its failing.

And that it what I believe the players are feeding from….

  21. tsGH says:

We can’t have it both ways…

The team is either not good enough or the manager is rubbish?

I think a few of our starters are overrated but most will disagree so…

Is it AW fault for having an unbalanced side? yes, but on the other hand if a board thinks it is acceptable to rebuild a football team 5 times in 7 years then we must as well play FiFa 2013 on our X-box and PS3’s…

It is easy to blame AW because he is the manager but those who call themselves traditional long serving supporters if they are honest with themselves will know that the fault lies with the Board that even included DD. Yes we should have bought a DM in the summer. In hindsight Diame was free and we should have got him but like Fellani, both are rubbish as DM. The same way Yaya Toure was useless as a DM at Barca…

In the past we sold Anelka and beat TH14 for half price, we also sold Overmars and Petite and bought Inamoto and Van Bronquist if I am not wrong. That was with DD as the orchestrator. Those were all gambles that paid off unfortunately the Gervs of this world have not worked…
So we can blame IG and AW as much as we want but the fact remains that the board members are thieves…

  22. stevepalmer1 says:

    Morning all,
In all fairness Rico, i reckon you done us a favour losing the report, it would have been painfull having to suffer a step by step report of that shambles yesterday. Players Manager and the club should all be ashamed of themselves. But one good thing came out of it, The away supporters were magnificent again, for a shit team they have some great supporters my hats off to them.

  23. JW says:

    Good morning all,

What a shambles! and no I don’t mean Rico’s failure to post a match report. 🙂 I’m, talking about that so called “performance” yesterday evening. One Arsenal player was out outstanding…by his awfulness. Sagna. He did not put a foot RIGHT throughout the game. His awfulness was only masked by the dire performance of the rest of the bunch, they cannot be described as a team, around him.

If that’s the standard of endeavour that we are to expect over the coming months then we can forget trophies and resign ourselves to joining the dog fight at the foot of the table.

On or two “exceptional” players wont make any difference, there is a complete mental staleness about the entire club at the moment.

    Arsenal fans deserve better!

  24. JW says:

One other thing, did I hear that the team stayed in a hotel in Basingstoke? If so I hope they were made to walk back to it after the match. It might have given them time to ponder on just how bad they had been.

  25. frednerk says:

In my opinion regarding who to blame player’s or manager
I would have to blame the manager if he lacks the balls it must filter down surely.

  26. tsGH says:

Yes it runs deeper than that from the outside looking in and it possibly is…

When you consider that both the former PSG chairman and the current chairman El-Khelaifi have both publiclly stated in 442 that AW said he did not take the PSG job because American owners are not suitable for football, it makes you wonder…

The fact is without AW who will be discovering the bargains? When Steve Rowley our chief scout publicly state he could have taken the chavs job but will never consider leaving Arsenal with AW in charge, we fans have to be very concerned…

PHW made us sell our soul to the devil… A man who claims to be worth less than $3B but is the 8th highest land owner in America… hmmm

  27. rico says:

I don’t think anyone will dispute that the board are failing badly Ts, but we have a very good squad of players who, with the right motivation and organisation, should beat most sides in the PL..

Why they aren’t is down to the manager and the coaching staff surely?

Don’t forget, this is the same group of players who went to Man City and totally outplayed them on the day, where has that attitude and passion gone?

  28. rico says:

    Phew Sp….

And well said re the fans…. again. If only the players/manager had their passion for our club…

  29. rico says:

    😆 JW..

If they did stay in Basingstoke, what a joke. It’s hardly a trek from London to Southampton. What a waste of money….

  30. Adam says:

The board are culpable to a point. But they didn’t prepare the team last night or buy some of our worse players. As a good friend pointed out to me, once Wenger goes, the board, manager, team cycle will be broken and then we will see what Kroenke does. For him Wenger was the goose that laid so many golden eggs but those days are fading fast.

  31. Adam says:

Rico. You didn’t pop over to Basingstoke with a case of Cava on New Years Eve did you? That might explain the semi-comatose performance last night. 🙂

  32. rico says:

But we can’t change SK being the majority shareholder, Wenger can only work with who he has and as Adam said earlier, there are many sides in the PL with much lesser players than we have who are far more committed to their cause than ours are..

That must surely say a lot…

  33. Seamonkey UK says:

If we don’t sign Zaha then Wenger has to go! He’s a Gooner like us and wants to join us, and as we know Gooners play better for the team than a lot of these free loader players who are dead rotting away not even good for a small camp fire wood. The performance yesterday just confirms what we all already know. On a bright point, hope we get Theo signed up this week.

  34. stevepalmer1 says:

    Morning Rico,
I did send you a post last night but i’m glad you never used it, I wasn’t in the best of moods, so was happy that you had a moderate one today. 🙂

  35. Jack W says:

It is all a shambles. The team are not united, few leaders in teh side and a manager that looks as if he is on auto pilot.

Am i the only person that thinks that AW looks like an undertaker – is he really going to motivate a group of overpaid underqualified players to win games.

The last few games we were papering over the cracks. truth is that we scores 4 goals vs Newcastle only because we had the Boxing game off against a very tired and depleted Newcastle team.

Psychologically, with 5 points behind 4th place (albeit with a game in hand) i can see us drifting.

Our only hope is winning the Champions league a la Chelsea last season… can you see that happening?

Finally, RVP scorerer of 19 goals so far. Why was his contract not renewed?

  36. rico says:

Sorry Sp, I didn’t see it. Wish I had now though…..

Seauk, hopefully we will know a lot more about TW later today…

  37. tsGH says:

But if you think this squad can win the league or anything then you can not surely be asking for 4 -5 new players! As I said we can’t have it both ways.

The squad on paper is the 5th/6th strongest if we are all being honest behind the manc, the chavs and even the scums and the dippers….

The squad is where it is…. and as we finished above the chavs last season we over achieved.

When players leave and still thank AW and blame the board….

AW says what is happening in most cases just that most of the public prefer straight talk. Has he not said 2 times in as many weeks recently that he recommends pay increase to the board and 7 out of 10 times they do it. So which are the 3 or 30% that they don’t? Yes the Nasri and RVP of this world…

AW says we have money to spend so lets see what he does with it. Saying that though from past experience and as confirmed by PV and Cesc and Guillem Balague AW is given between 15M to 25M and he is happy to do the best with it…

How do I know that? In 2001 PV said AW asked him not to leave because he had been given £25M of the £42M he sold Marc and Petite for…

Cesc told Spainish papers that AW had £15M to spend so the board had to decide if they are running a business or a football club…

So the media said we have £70M to spend, after renewing 5 players contracts we now have £30M allegedly to spend. Am not a football accountant but how many £15 to £20M players do we expect to get with £30M if that amount includes player salary too as we all know our transfer budget is then lets blame AW for buying £3m flops instead of the available Fellani’s of this world…

  38. Jack W says:

whi wants TW to gn a new contract? Is he really the answer? All talk is that we are to buy a striker. But we have Girous, Pod and TW to sign. Do they become teh next Gerv’s and Chamacks of the squad – ie player paid too much , playing out of position and inevitabily losing form!!!

  39. rico says:

Who has said that this squad could win the PL Ts??

Other than AW at the beginning of the season??

If you are suggesting me, then I haven’t but it’s better than the way we are currently playing or where we are sitting in the PL..

Or getting dumped out of the CO Cup by a side 100’s of places below us in the football league….

  40. tsGH says:

I guess that is why HH is the best because we debate respectfully,

Yes Adam… you probably love Arsenal more than I do because you go and watch the team. But like most fans who look at the facts as they are will prefer a team in top 4 than a team in mid table.

People talk about lack of fight but the facts are in previous seasons we have had the most comebacks.

Didn’t Lee post a link yesterday that showed the so called old guard still lacked fight 20 years ago…

And people talk about SB to take over from AW but ignore the big FACT that he said on TV 2 times that he hates sitting on the bench and he had a headache deputising for AW…

No one truly knows what goes on at Colney or Emirates but I am honest with the facts available in public domain… 😉

  41. emma says:

rico – Glad that the gremlins popped into your laptop and stole the match report. 🙂
It was pain staking watching the arsenal yesterday. What was painful to watch yesterday was seeing only Jack putting in tackles and taking kicks, elbow etc for the team. Wish we have more Jack in this team that has that mentality of wanting to win.
We should be weary of the tiny totts at 7 sisters. They are playing pretty well and have a good squad. I dont see them being complacent like they were last season under Arry.

  42. Potter says:

We face a situation now where we have been driven to our backs against a wall. Realistically we have only one thing that we can win and we are away against a team that played us off the park a few weeks ago. Instead of the usual mixed team he has to play the best he can and should that team fail , he should resign write the book and spill the beans about the circumstances he has had to work with.

  43. jeemy says:

Was it an absolute must to sell RVP to the Mancs? i know its old stories but what a difference he would have made, who sells his best gun to a foe?

  44. Jack W says:

Emma I agree. Spuds look like they are stronger this eason with AVB getting the best out of the squad. Why cant AW do that for us???

  45. rico says:

Have a good day too Ts, laters…

Hi Kev, agree with that wholeheartedly…

    😆 emma – you are not alone…

Agree re AVB, this could be the season….

  46. rico says:

Hannover president Martin Kind has revealed that negotiations have begun to sign Arsenal defender Johan Djourou in the January transfer window.

The Bundesliga club conceded 31 goals in an exhausting first half of the season and are looking to add more depth to their squad as they attempt to secure a return to Europe for the third year in a row.

“I can confirm the name [of Djourou],” Kind told Bild. “He is on our list. There have been talks.”

It is reported that the Switzerland international could join Hannover on a loan deal until the summer, with a view to a permanent deal should the spell be successful.

Djourou has fallen out of favour at Arsenal and has not appeared for the first-team since a shambolic defensive display in the 7-5 Capital One Cup victory over Reading in October.

Hannover, meanwhile, are also working on bringing in Hamburg midfielder Gojko Kacar, who recently welcomed a prospective move when saying: “Hannover is a great club. I’d be happy to play Europa League.”

Hannover chief Kind claimed there is a chance both players will arrive in “the next two days”, with the squad set to head out to Portugal for their mid-season training camp.

  47. rico says:

The only good thing Potter is Swansea have had a little dip in form…

We need that dip to plunge into a huge fall before Saturday….

  48. essienspecial says:

Morning all. Adam, what happens next is that we discover another gem as our new manager, someone who wont play gervinho as striker or ramsey as winger, or ruin an Arshavins career, the same tin hez doing to podolski now. TBH After the absolute trash gervinho played against bradford, IM SHOCKED Wenger had d guts to put him in yesterdays game. I mean how could u want to win a game and u bring on Ramsey… And GERVINHO!? Who does that? U all are entitled to ur opinion of d man. Mine is that Wenger is past it, has lost it and I JUST CANT WAIT for him to walk away… FOREVER!

  49. martin wengrow says:

The modern Arsenal can deal with the current difficulties in it’s usual manner i.e
    1. Buy more foreign mercenaries in the January window
2.Give all the current 1st. team squad extended contracts and double their wages.

This sadly is “our” Arsenal at the present moment.

  50. emma says:

rico – Swansea having a dip in form? I doubt it, they will be up for it when Arsenal comes calling. The question will be which arsenal team turns up?

  51. emma says:

If not for our sloppiness and complacency against teams which we should have beaten(aston villa, Shamption, Fulham, norwich, swansea, sunderland). We could have being up there with the mancs. That’s 15pts dropped not to include chelsea which we should have drawn or won. Add that to the pts we currently have that’s 49 with a game in hand(westham)

  52. allezkev says:

Jenkinson’s error vs Swansea, led to the Swans winning goal.
Wenger then replaced him with Sagna.

Sagna’s error yesterday, led to Southampton’s goal.
He also was poor vs a poor Newcastle team.
    Wenger?????

  53. Potter says:

I believe that the board have manoeuvred him to the situation where they can get him to go whilst paying enough lip service to suggest that it’s his decision, kind of constructive dismissal. They have been trying to take control back for a long time and they want complete control over the finances of the club.

  54. Adam says:

TS. I didn’t say that that anybody loved Arsenal more than anybody else nor do I agree with that distinction.
What I say is that a team’s success is measured by on-field performances and results and there we are seriously lacking. Throwing money at it won’t help. How can you explain a performance like Podolski’s for instance? Here is a vastly experienced, German international playing like he was on Hackney Marshes on a Sunday morning, after a Saturday night on the razz. Or Sagna? So what if he is pissed off at only earning £3 million a year instead of 4? Who gives a shit? I could go right thought the shambles from last night but what good does it do? All of this is Wenger’s responsibility and if the board won’t give him millions more to spend then he should be able to motivate the players he has, that he bought-yet he can’t. He was a great manager once, just as De Niro was a great actor once. They aren’t great now. It’s the way things are. But it is up to Kroenke and the board to address that problem and they had better do it quickly.

  55. essienspecial says:

And did anyone observe that most of the boys were having a go at each other for most part of the game? Prior to his withdrawal Arteta was having a pop at podolski, telling him to do his part in defending. Then sagna was ripping into chamberlain, telling him to ‘stop being lazy’ in defending. So chamberlain ‘happily’ opted to switch to the left wen podolski went out, rather than take anymore from sagna, just prior to his own subbing off. If u arent careful enough, u could even think wenger made those changes in response to what was going on between the boys! FRANKLY though, the quiet arguements between themselves was the ONLY POSITIVE I took from d game. Let them keep ripping each others head off until they get it RIGHT! DISGRACEFUL BUNCH!

  56. SD London says:

Now Walcott will sign, now that he played badly apart from the free kick that led to a goal, he could not get to all the crosses and you could wish Giroud was there instead of Walcott.

Wenger knows that Walcott cant be the point man and Walcott is our best crosser of balls but he doesn’t want to do that anymore.

If i were Wenger i will extend Walcott’s contract , sign Nani from Man utd (he hasn’t played much so will definitely give us all) and Play Giroud up front and alternate with Walcott only when Giroud is tired or out of form.We need a winger that likes playing in the wings- so buy Nani.

We played well during the season because we had Diaby in the middle but Diabby is a no go area now.

What should a wise coach do? Buy a Diabby replacement but no , it looks like Wenger is reserving that position for Diabby when he comes back.

I really dont see any light at the end.

We dont need Zaha or Demba Ba , we need a defensive Midfielder and a good winger(Crosser of the ball) and play Giroud upfront he was getting better before Walcott started his drama and Wenger was forced to change tactics

  57. Lee says:

Sad start of affairs when players tell the manager where they want to play, imagine a player telling fergie? He’d get an earful or his marching orders!!

  58. SD London says:

It is all Wenger’s fault, if the board are not giving him the right resources then it is Wenger’s fault for putting up with the board.

Walcott and Podolski will be dictating affairs because there is no enough competition in the squad.

If Walcott had competition, he would be happy to play anywhere.

  59. emma says:

SD – I think Wenger is just waiting for Walcott to Sign da thing and ship him back to the wing again. Like you said come Jan 31st if we still have not signed a DM/box-box player then wenger has lost the plot

  60. devilgunner says:

Good ~Afternoon my Esteemed Fellow Hobbits.

Rico……does your computer have a virus??? Maybe Gambonitis?? 😆

But I do not blame you for not rewriting it. If the players on the pitch do not give a rat’s arse then why should you bother.

But at least we did not loose.

Yes its a point lost. But not a game lost.

  61. Adam says:

Devil. Surely that point is moot to say the least. If the woeful Gibbs had bounced his late cross into the goal off of another Southampton player we would have had 3 points. Then some would be saying the usual old tripe about winning ugly and how the points were the most important thing.
The trend that I see is one of decline and underachievement that has been happening for seasons now. The consequence is losing our best players and then performances like last night. Our club is waist deep in it at the moment and as far as I can see, nobody is doing anything about it. There’s the worry. A host of bad decisions on and off the field are becoming a huge problem.

  62. SD London says:

I read in daily mail that we are still owed money by Barcelona from the sale of Fabregas and Song .

Now tats just rubbing salt on injury proper piss taking

  63. SD London says:

Thats why Wenger cant really spend when we sell , the physical money is not there.

Why sell to clubs that dont have cash in the first place?

The Arsenal board are totally nuts, they are rubbish with football, rubbish with getting competitive endorsement contract (Nike), selling players to clubs that cant pay then we wonder why ticket prices are the most expensive in the country.

I cant wait for Wenger to retire and tell us all that was really happening in the club, a lot is fishy.

  64. rico says:

SD – I read the same, and I suspect they owe us more than for him…

Lee – he made the right decision though 🙁

  65. allezkev says:

This team/squad, does have the ability to compete with the top three imho.
What they lack is the mentality to do so on a regular basis.
I have seen enough of them this season, both home and away, to see the potential they have.
Even with the resources at AW’s disposal and a lack of financial support from our appalling Board, he has put together a team that can, and should be, up there and competing with a poor ManUre team.
ManUre are where they are because of the Ogre.
Arsenal are where they are because of repetitive problems that take Wenger 4 times longer than the Ogre would take, to rectify them.

    Afternoon Gooners.
Afternoon Rico. Your post was pants… 😉

  66. JW says:

    Headline from Arsenal.com

Koscielny – This month is so important for us

Laurent says January will be crucial in race for a top-four place

If that’s the case, Laurent, what the f*** were you and the rest of the team doing last night?

  67. JW says:

    More from dear Laurent…

“Now we have a lot of very important games against teams who want to play in next season’s Champions League so it is vital to stay focused on these matches and win.”

No! Laurent, it is vital to stay focused on ALL matches and win.

  68. Lee says:

If that’s the mindset of the players we are definitely up shit creek without a paddle! We could use Gervinho’s forehead I suppose….

  69. frednerk says:

I think we might be up for the big games this month,
    but your right JW…
It’s the bread and butter games we just switch off

  70. rico says:

Afternoon Kev, agree with both points, we do have a competitive squad which can compete, and one with 3/4 4 additions and a Mr Motivator, could win something…

The second bit about the post, spot on 😉

    Back in an hour…

  71. Lee says:

Adam, I’m just trying to figure out what his role is at AFC… obviously apart from the double act with Santos!

  72. SD London says:

What exactly did Arshavin do to Wenger, i am beginning to think it is a personal thing.

My money is on the assumption that Arshavin went to confront Wenger directly in his office about playing time and Wenger didn’t like it and set out to punish him.

Taking Carzola out and bringing Ramsey did not give anyone any confidence Arshavin would have given even the players hope and scared the opposition a little.

  73. tsGH says:

    Hi again,

On Barca, a few weeks before Cesc left in 2011, PHW stated publicly that Barca had not finished paying off Hlebs fees. They even had the cheek to offer him to us as part exchange for Cesc. It is publicly known that we failed to secure Mata because even though we had agreed a deal we did not have money until we had qualified for the ECL proper against Udinese. The same can be said about SC19 deal prior to his move to Malaga.

Even BVB chairman stated that the £30M offer from us for Gotze was a £15M cash up front plus player exchange and instalments. Same as Hazard offer before in 2010 before every grannie became away of him…

If all this bits of info available is not good enough for smart fans but need a book that will be dispelled as a bitter manager telling lies then I guess it is not worth discussing…

All those wanting the £20M signings reality check please because it will not happen…

  74. JW says:

    SD,

What did Gervinho bring to the party when he came on? Come to think of it what did any of the subs do? But then what did any of the players do?

  75. tsGH says:

SD the same AA23 that half of the stadium publicly booed and questioned AW for subbing for a 17 y.o Ox?

The same AA23 that half of the people here were asking why he was left on the pitch when we were losing 4-1 to Reading in the CoC?

Lets dispel a myth too …. AA23 never played through the middle before he came to us… He has always played on the LHS for both national team and club.

AA23 is not playing for the same reason Santos is not playing and is being reported to have a pulled stomach muscle. The same reason why G.Silva was dropped by AW when fans get on his back for not being able to pass a ball but are calling for a DM now!

Show me a true DM that can pass a ball 7/10 accurately and I will show you a flying pig… And don’t mention Alonso because he is no different to MA08 the way most of you say he is not a DM as when Alonso was with the dippers he had a true DM in Sissoko playing along side him…

  76. JW says:

    Ts,

I doubt that any of today’s ridiculous transfer fees are paid in full, in cash at the time the contract is signed. I suspect that just as Barca owe us money so we owe money for our recent signings.

It would certainly be better if all transfer fees, agents fees, signing on fees etc were paid at the time, it might just bring a little sanity into the market.

  77. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Hello
I think Kos and Rico miss West Ham at home also in January.
And another important point: we haven’t Gervinho !

  78. Lee says:

Gervinho, when he came on immediately gave the ball away and then he tripped himself up….the rotating bow tie has to go!

  79. tsGH says:

@JW True but we paid SC19 fee in full as part of the deal otherwise he would have gone to RM…

We seem to pay most of our money upfront unless they are add-ons like Parks deal and Ox’s according to our annual report.

The only way clubs force other clubs to let go of their price possession is when players are ‘tapped’ up like we did with Wiltord and OG12 and Barca do with all our players…

  80. SD London says:

    TsGH ,
I can see you are in a foul mood today , I am sure it has got nothing to do with the last game.

    Or has it ?

  81. Lee says:

    He’s a genius on the unicycle…
Didn’t Hazard (not Micky) say that Gerv was the nuts when they were at Lille together? The curse of AW strikes again?

  82. tsGH says:

😀 I am always in a foul mood at least on the net anyways…

It will be better when very intelligent fans start thinking logically by being honest with themselves instead of living in fantasy…

The Arsenal I have supported for only over 20 years has never been in a better position and has always been a selling club FACT…

The Arsenal I know have lots of board members who never contribute to the club. They treat AFC as the Federal Bank or Bank of England treat you and I. FACT…

Yes so I want AW so that people can get Diego Simone to coach us. Oh he is not good enough I hear because Pep is available..

  83. SD London says:

Wao TsGH, still going on about the intelligent fans (i know you meant the opposite)

    Lee,
Yes Gervinho use to scare defenders but nowadays they just let him be and finish his sideways dance.
But I noticed he plays better when he plays with Podolski they interchange effectively.

I hope Wenger sorts all this out and i think Carzola needs a break.

I hope Wenger buys a DM because there will be times when we will need to break stubborn defenses and play Artheta and Carzola in the middle with Wilsheire and a DM protecting the defenders.

Yes no wingers just only over lapping LB and RB but we don’t have that option right now.

We need a DM badly, it is plain to see that our midfield is not effective enough.

  84. JW says:

    Lee,

I think the actual quote was “he was the nut” singular. so we are back to his forehead again. 😀

  85. tsGH says:

SD please I am not insulting anyone. That is not my nature at all.. so lets leave it there.

I am on here this afternoon purely because this is a very respectable site. Though most disagree with what I say it is beautiful to debate…

  86. tsGH says:

According to the bbc. Can someone explain why a club claiming to be the 2nd most cash rich club in Europe after the Bavarians has the least net spend of all the EPl clubs since 2003.

But then again the most clueless manager has get us 3rd or 4th all the time…

Then again most will ignore that fact.

  87. Lee says:

We should be setting our sights higher than 3rd or 4th, the season ticket price doesn’t reflect those positions.

  88. tsGH says:

When I was a soldier/officer and at a place like Camp Bastion or KIA I never blamed my superiors for not having all the kit other American and Nato troops had even though the media told us in the news that the DPA mismanaged funds. I blamed the politicians because they have the power to manage and improve things. After a while I left like so many other fine soldiers but still some very young soldiers die… what I am trying to say is what some have said before a number of times.

Why do professional footballers need to be spat in the face (or motivated) to do a job…where is the professional and human pride as a competitor? Most importantly why do fans believe a manager has to be the one to motivate a player to perform? Do we need our bosses to scream at us in our places of work to put in a good shift?

  89. Adam says:

TS. The figures you quote so often are not verifiable. The fact that he or she said something on a certain date does not make it true. Was Gervinho £10 million or £8 million. Who knows? All I know is that Wenger bought him and he is shit. One of the worst players to have worn the shirt in living memory. How can the man who bought Henry and saw the potential in Fabregas, buy him? The occasional dud that doesn’t work out is understandable, but Wenger seems intent on flogging these dead horses to death until they are worth nothing.
When he has got a quality player who is under performing like Podolski, I say tell him, unless he improves immediately and shows some effort, he has no future at the club. If there is no reaction then sell him to some German team and take the £3 million hit because in another 2.5 years he will be worth sweet FA anyway. Wenger needs to start managing properly and this means kicking some these shirkers up the arse occasionally.

  90. rico says:

    Afternoon everyone..

So a Frenchie in a deal for Gervinho eh, I hope that’s Capoue

Ba has obviously dropped his wage demands if he’s joined the Chavs…

  91. SD London says:

    Good for Sturridge

Now the Chavs will buy Demba Ba , he will score 11 goals and they will loan him to QPR next season (just been bitter here)

I just wished we were the first to do business because the games coming are going to be tough.

If Wenger wants to buy Villa he should on time and not try and get a bargain on the 31st . If it is Lopez, then he should buy him on time.

They should stop the bargain hunt, those days are gone.

  92. Uzochukwu says:

Please where is our Thomas Rosicky? Wenger removed Arteta and Ox and instead of bringing Coquelin and Rosicky, he opted for the 2 calamities.

He really has lost it. Very sad to say.

He is also losing the dressing room, and faaaaast.

  93. allezkev says:

Roll up, roll up, roll up, for the amazing Arsenal comedy show.
Watch Andre Santos demolish a platefull of fish n’ chips.
See the astonishing Gervinho bamboozle everyone with his trickery, leaving us with a migrane.
Be amazed at Chamuck and wonder at how he can put on a football shirt without disturbing the half-a-ton of lard he carries on his bonce.
Gasp at the lethargy shown by Squillster Squillaci as he falls over his feet once again, to give away another soft goal.
And you will hardly be able to xontain yourselves at the vision that is Andrei ‘Fat-Arse’ Arshavin, as he waddles around the pitch looking bored. How do they get shorts to fit him???
Yes, all this and more, is coming to a stadium near you!!!
Don’t delay now, book your tickets from Lee & Adam tickets agency, 55 Ball Pond Road.
    Or call Whitehall 1212..

  94. Lee says:

Emma put a twitter picture of Cocovinho on the Eurostar…. 2+2 stuff, but he’s off to a French side as part of a deal with a player coming our way!

  95. tsGH says:

Yes Mr Lee but most pay to watch Arsenal because they choose to, whether through love or fear of losing their membership. As the illuminate Dale Carnegie said nearly 100 years ago and coined by ‘Syrup’ if the stadium is full then you are not charging enough…

3rd or 4th is not good enough but to make the jump it needs investment. The same investment most fans in June/July thought it was not worth to place on a 29 y.o who had never played 2 full seasons in a row…

The same investment even when DD was with was never made by the board but some new fans choose to blame AW for not making…

Again I will use an advice given to me at Sandhurst, ”a good soldier/office knows when to put his reputation on the line to save lives but a mad officer will put his pride on the line to lose lives and the world will say he had courage.”

so if TV4 in the interview in August drops his shoulders and sighs on hearing news of RVP’s departure and then the fans slate Sagna for saying what the mood of the club is either in the right or wrong way then it is what it is…

  96. Adam says:

I thought that DD did exactly that when he got the board to agree to pay £7.5 million for Dennis, a deal that changed the club and it’s status considerably.

  97. tsGH says:

Rico, I think it is the player with the Arsenal syndrome Yoann Gourcuff… a player who will make Diaby and VP wonder how he does it…

Someone thinks its the short ass..Mathieu Valbuena the best Ligue 1 player…

  98. tsGH says:

Uzo, TR07 had flu like symptoms 2 weeks ago so a Rednose like manager will not have put him on the bench at all…

  99. Adam says:

You made me jump then Kev.
I was just speaking to the famous football agent Barry Bullspizzle and he reckons we are going to get Bendtner back.

  100. martin wengrow says:

Adam, good comment re: Podolski. If this player at a new club and in a new country, can’t put it in week in and week out to prove himself then we don’t want him at AFC. We should be looking to cut our losses on him ASAP. Poor character,
so get rid of. The first loss is the best loss.

  101. Lee says:

We are also rumoured to of triggered Springfield Galaxy’s release clause for Krusty but I’ve not had that 100% confirmed….

  102. Adam says:

Martin. Thanks mate. At last someone agrees with me. 🙂
I like “the first loss is the best loss”. Never heard that before, but it’s true. Wenger’s motto is “there’s no loss like dead loss”. He always uses Arshavin as a prime example of this.

  103. Adam says:

Lee. Apparently he has an exploding cigar gag that is fabulous and wears a fake rose that squirts water into the oppositions faces.

  104. allezkev says:

Gourcuff Ginge, Diaby will be pleased of the company….

Cheap and cheerful, or cheerfull (where’s Mick, still hungover?)

  105. tsGH says:

Yes DD did with DB10 but the fact is the fact, we sold Marc and Petite for £42M and invested less than that amount on 3 players all together…

”The figures you quote so often are not verifiable. The fact that he or she said something on a certain date does not make it true.” isn’t that a cop out? The same as most fans and the media claim we pay the most season ticket but its all relative…

Who says we have £70m sitting in the bank somewhere…

Anytime a fact is stated instead of truly counter-arguing most choose to dismiss or sweep under the carpet.

I respect those who pay to go and watch the team but I have no sympathy for them because no one pays for anything they do not want especially if a gone is not held to their head… Its a free country the last time I checked seconds ago…

You do not expect to rent a 2 bed flat for the same amount in Newcastle or wycombe as in Central London…

  106. Adam says:

I hear that, after watching Escape To Victory on Christmas Day, Grimandi has recommended we sign Sly Stallone as a goalkeeper.

  107. tsGH says:

And I agree Adam, as Martin also did. But even Millwall or Crawley can not get rid of players when they want to because it is London… if we were in a small town excuse me like Blackburn or Stoke then it is very easy….

The same reason M. Owen would rather drive from Chester or Northorp to Stoke daily instead of stay closer…

  108. Adam says:

TS. When is a fact a fact. I remember Blair telling us that WOMD were a fact. The truth is that we use what we chose to reinforce our argument. Surely the sale of crocks Overmars and Petit was seasons after DB arrived. And as I recall the team was not severely weakened when they left. To get what we did for them was amazing business. To sell RVP and buy Giroud is not.
I don’t know who says £70 million in the bank. It wasn’t me. But I seem to recall you had some pretty firm figures yourself. I say it is a fact that we have £100 million in The Bank Of Cyprus in Seven Sisters Road. Stellios Bublos told me.

  109. tsGH says:

And lets also ask why Chelsea are chasing Ba instead of Llorente, Cavani, Rodriguez or Falcao with all the money they have… even monopoly money has a limit I think… 😉

  110. goonster says:

hey lee, what’s up pal? are u still livid? let it go man. nothing last forever. we ll be fine i tells ya. lol.

  111. rico says:

    Bad knee fred 😉

    Hi goonie..

JM – RIP – Lawdislao Mazukerwicz, how old was he?

Ts, maybe they just want a player who will score goals now, and not next season or five years time….

  112. tsGH says:

When is a fact a fact? It is when you use information to save humanity… at least that is what I believed or 1000’s who have been through a training school near New Forest are doctrined with 😉

Adam I do not know what profession you are in but the difference is that you still believe TB made that up like the media tell the public whilst I do not at least not after I started working in an office south side of the river…

  113. SD London says:

DM that’s what we need and no rumor is suggesting we are in the market for one.
Sad really! I am afraid we will regret selling RVP and Song for 2 seasons.

    What was Wenger thinking?

Just read in Newsnow that RVP said he laughed at the contract he was offered by Arsenal and threw it in the bin on his way out .

So Arsenal could not pay RVP what he wants but we could pay Djurou, Arshavin,Squilacci an average of £65000 per week without doing anything.

Now RVP suddenly looks like a bargain for Man utd.

And i hope somebody shuts Mancini up for complaining that they might not win the league because they didn’t buy RVP.The guy has Aguero,Tevez and Dzeko in his team not to mention Toure, silva,Kompany etc and he complains.

  114. Joaquim Moreira says:

rico, was an Uruguay goalkeeper in Mexico wold Cup 1970, england 1966 and West Germany – 1974. He reminds me (and everybody…) Lev Yashin. He had played in Brazil and spain and maybe in other country. Was an Uruguay legend.
    Zaha is dropped for us…
Totts wants Damiao again…. From where come so much money?
    Schneider on our radar?

  115. Will XL says:

Change the formation. Podolski is too deadly a striker of the ball to be wasted on the wing. Anyway, He will soon speak his mind and become a bad guy. So that will sort itself. 4-1-3-2 I say.

  116. Adam says:

TS. What school is that then?
As far as you assertion about Blair. Please, tell us, was he telling the truth all along? I always felt him and Alistair were good eggs.
My profession is journalist which is why I tell so many lies and have a nose for bullshit. Kev, Rocky or Lee will tell you what a disreputable cad I am. And Rico will tell you how nosey I can be. 🙂

  117. SD London says:

I don’t really like reading what Ian Wright has to say nowadays but i have come to the reality that he speaks the truth always and the truth hurts.

We fans are far more ambitious than the Arsenal ruling bodies , our expectations are far higher than what is realistic.
We are still stuck in 2004 and we are not even close to half of the level the 2004 team.

80% of the 2004 team were world cup winners, European cup winners, captains and vice captains of their countries.

When I look at Man City , I remember the 2004 set , they play with purpose , when they are a goal behind with a lower team they kick up the gear knowing they shouldn’t loose against Reading.
They still win and look like winning even with one man down.

We didnt have to spend Millions like Man City, we had the same level of players if not better but we let them go and slip away most of the time.

We have now turned to a club hopping that Walcott signs.

    SAD SAD SAD!

  118. tsGH says:

@SD we could have paid VP if Arsenal was a football club but it is not. It is Arsenal PLC in the city…

AW tells us it is a business, PHW and IG tell us it is a well run club. I chose to believe AW’s option and I have clarity…

2 players in the last 2 years have left and said one day Arsenal fans will know the truth and I will only be surprised when the truth comes out and it said AW was instrumental in all the players leaving. 😉

  119. rico says:

A sad day for Uruguay and football JM….

Ts, I can not only confirm that Adam is nosey, he’s all of the others too! …

  120. rico says:

Ts – so why does AW now moan about losing top players each season, if he is so instrumental in their sales?

  121. tsGH says:

😀 Adam, I am not going to go on about TB online especially as I re-signed my bi-annual version of the OSA 1989 before christmas…

And I do not know you personally but from here I think you are a nice man especially for a journo… especially when it comes to Arsenal because you think with your heart…

You are a journalist so you should know what I am talking about 😉 ie the forest near Gosport…

Since a journo is on here no more slating of journo’s from me…

  122. tsGH says:

Rico I said I will be surprised if he was instrumental in the sales even though he does the haggling for the incompetent board…

  123. Adam says:

TS. Slate away old chap. Actually, although subterfuge comes easily to me I must admit that I am not that “sort” of journalist. I write for What Moron Monthly, What Campervan and Nosey Bastards which is a magazine for nosey bastards.
As for being a nice man. I don’t think so. I am just about to interrogate my wife over a missing grain of salt.

  124. rico says:

Adam, we are thinking of getting a campervan, the best way to holiday imho. When is your next review due please?

  125. frednerk says:

    Funny now the windows open

It’s gone very quiet on the transfer speculation .
Maybe a good thing or what

  126. Adam says:

Rico. Very soon. I have just written an article where I review six different chemical toilets fitted to the VW Campervan, the Tioga, named after Yosemite National Park’s little known Eastern approach in the High Sierras. Testing them was simplified by my new supplier of Organic vegetables. I bought them from a strangely accented cold telephone caller. Mashed down to a rather unattractive pulp I was able to monitor each toilet’s capabilities with waste matter.

  127. vida says:

Arsenal are close to agreeing a fee with Atletico over the signing of Adrian Lopez. Wenger wants him in time for the City game.@ AnonymousFC

  128. tsGH says:

Mauro Zarate’s agent has declared ‘war’ on Lazio president Claudio Lotito after the club slapped a hefty price-tag on him…

  129. Adam says:

TS. You know, I used to buy regular fruit and veg from Waitrose but doubted it’s nutritional value as it was always soft, mushy and quite repulsive. But then a lovely woman from, I believe, The Punjab, rang me one evening offering Organic products. Although I first thought she had called to see if I was recently involved in a car crash, I bought her wares and have never felt better, such is the quality of both her produce and the richness of her accent. As Rico points out though, I am a Toad.

  130. SD London says:

    So see yah guys.

Hope we get a DM soon or just bring Couqeline (spelling) into the game fully as DM.

  131. tsGH says:

SD another myth about our players.Francis Coquelin may be a good tackler but he is not a defensive midfielder…

Even at reserve level he was a RB and at Lorient he never played as DM whilst on loan. He played as a RW or RB… i know wiki will tell you so but if you watch the games he has played for us he played DM for us in 2 games last season. Old Trafford and the shite hut lane…

This season he only played DM in the Reading game when Frimps was subbed…

  132. tsGH says:

Frimps has returned to Arsenal after his lukewarm performances at Dulwich..

The good news is that he only received 2 yellow cards but the bad news is that he only completed 1 match…

He was playued in an attacking role instead of the DM …

  133. SD London says:

Well lets see if Frimpong will grab this opportunity if he gets it.
I didnt understand the loan in the first place.

  134. tsGH says:

😀 what I was trying to say is that in such a position we need an out and out DM not a convert or someone the media have something against for using the Yid word…

  135. SD London says:

Honestly in some games we need a good tackler.

Get the ball give it to Artheta or Carzola then sit back incase of a counter attack.

Then when the opposition discovers that they cant get through the middle , they try the flanks a spell of 15 minutes of our midfielders controlling the midfield could create various opportunities.

Then Wenger needs to learn to make changes quickly and not wait till the 70th minute.

6 appearances out of 9 not too bad at all…

In his last match he played as a DM and received a yellow card in the first half so Chris Powell subbed him at half time…

The loan system has not worked out since JW in 2009 imo…

Why is Ryo not playing in next gen instead of sitting on the bench at Wigan?

Conor Henderson was supposed to be better than JW but after contracting the Arsenal sydrome he is not even getting games at Coventry…

The only loanees who have benefited are Aneke, and Eastmond but the latter broke his leg. Aneke deserves a chance with his size but then again the fans will not like his Santos/Poldi/AA23 body language…

  137. frednerk says:

They reckon as many as 1 million gooners get on line, facebook, twitter ect.
I bet if you ask the question what would be your first signing if you were the manager.
    It would be d/midfielder…………
yet here we are again waiting..

  138. goonster says:

are you for real? men you would think the bloody board would have wrapped it up after his heroics over the weekend. they re so slow, no wonder they re all so slow and mouldy!

  139. Adam says:

Hi Stan. Are you enjoying your time with Mum? Must be nice to get back to Arnhem. Have you been over the John Frost bridge?

  140. tsGH says:

Hey goonie so you support Vitesse Arnhem then? You are doing better than the Arsenal in the Dutch league can you not spare us a DM…

  141. tsGH says:

I wish I could do that after every Arsenal lose but… bad joke sorry…

On other none football news…Iran unveils latest combat helicopter Toufan 2

  142. goonster says:

hahahahaah adam you plonker, waterboarding huh? i ll give it a whack. i have this irish creole chic back in raleigh…….hey ginge nah am not an vitesse fan unfortunately…..i support willem II.

  143. allezkev says:

Whatever happened to Oliver, surely he’s finished his mission in Central America, and is back watching ESPN?

  144. tsGH says:

Yes Adam and the new Iranian and American new gun laws that BBC and CBS will not tell the masses…

A bit of history…In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control and from 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. China established gun control in 1935 and from 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated. Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

America is definitely having new gun law this year…

Additionally on August 9th of 2012, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that once a depositor places money in the bank, the bank can do whatever they see fit with your money… A crazy world we live in my friend…

    Was Stan the Supreme judge?

  145. tsGH says:

night all… A prayer to get AW to identify and buy the ‘special needs’ player he keeps talking about…

  146. Adam says:

TS. Interesting. But would the ownership of guns have made any difference in those sad cases? The whole US gun “thing” is bewildering for someone like myself. You probably know firearms quite well being an ex-serviceman, but they freak me out.

  147. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Chavs 0 Qpr 1
    Newcastle 1 Everton 2
    dippers 3 Sunderland 0
So, we fall down again… definetely?

  148. allezkev says:

Strong rumours that Arsenal are in for that Montpelier Def/Mid, come defender, Mbiwa (i think)…
    Another Ligue Un wonder-boy?!

  149. allezkev says:

Rumours that Djourou has joined Hannover…
    The fee, a paltry £2million…..
Gotta say, I thought he was worth more…

    Arshavin has turned down Reading…
    Lucky old Reading…

  150. W.A.T.H says:

Kev what ever the fee it’s a bonus when we save 3 bar a year in salaries so it’s not about a paltry 2million for Dj or not it’s the fact that it’s 2 mil to the koffers and the 50k a week more than covers Theo’s pay rise and goes towards the other 5 that just signed. Get rid of squilli and thats all the pay rises covered.

  151. W.A.T.H says:

End of the day Lewis fee’s for those players are a bonus just to get the 50k plus a week off our salary bill for each of them is what we really need, add one or two others to those three and it all helps.

  152. tsGH says:

The £3m pay -off is less than a years salary for j.Cole who was reported to be on at least £110k a week at the dippers… He could have done a malouda on the dippers but I guess he wants to play and an opportunity to be back home to Essex is a deal and a half for both parties…

  153. Lee says:

I heard he was on £90k,even so the £3m is loads less than he was due….shame our deadwood players could all take a leaf out of his book!
