Welbeck Set For Wide Role & Something Isn’t Right With Walcott & Gnabry Return……

Morning all.

Forgive me if I have got this wrong but since both players, especially Theo Walcott suffered injury and their expected return date was announced on the official site, I’ve not seen or heard the word we do so often and that’s ‘setback’.

Looking at the pictures on Arsenal.com, it doesn’t look like either are about to change that either, they both look fit, strong and ready to get back playing with the first team and boy don’t we need them? Yes, even Serge Gnabry as I think gives us something similar to what Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain does. He’s strong, direct, fearless and certainly isn’t afraid to shoot, unlike some.

Good News.....
Good News…..

As for Theo, we’ll I’m really looking forward to his pace returning to our game and Danny Welbeck must be too, the pair of them should cause defences a lot of trouble. Just a shame Mesut Ozil won’t be around for a while to play that killer ball through to both……

Going back to setback issue, perhaps this is the first sign of  Shad Forsythe taking over the players recovery and return programme and neither player is being allowed to train/play before their bodies are fully repaired and strong enough and I think I read something by Theo saying he’d been spending a lot of time in the gym building his muscles back up to full strength and again, the pictures of him training show him fully committed in training so my assumption is he’s good to go, in fact suggestion is he could be on the bench for Saturdays game against Hull City.

More Good News....
More Good News….

Olivier Giroud won’t, well not just yet but soon, sooner than expected and his return could see Danny Welbeck be shoved out wide according to Arsene Wenger:

Olivier Giroud is recovering very well. I believe he is ahead of schedule in terms of rehabilitation. The operation went perfectly.

Welbeck and [Giroud] can play together in the centre or separately. Welbeck also played on one side to Manchester United. Welbeck played in the same team with Rooney and van Persie. He can play down the sides.

Not so sure Danny Boy will like reading the last sentence….

That’s it for another day, a day when things are starting to look a little more positive regarding the squad. Just need Arteta, Ramsey, Debuchy, Dibay and Ozil back but that might take a while. Arteta, Ramsey and Diaby shouldn’t be too long though…

Goodness knows what’s happened to Yaya Sanogo…

Finally, Ivan Gazidis has been talking about the club. The full interview is on the official site but the final part of the interview caught my eye:

Q – It’s Arsenal’s 17th consecutive season in the Champions League. In the world league table, where do you think Arsenal sit?

Where we are currently is off the shoulder of the world’s top teams. I think the best teams in the world are in Europe and you think about the great names in world football like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich – I don’t think we’re at that level yet but that’s where we’re aiming to get to. It’s one thing to say that and it’s another thing to be able to deliver it.

That’s why so many of these things that we talk about with Arsenal are about not just having the vision or the words to say that, but to actually have the infrastructure and the foundations to deliver it to our fans. That’s not something that happens overnight but we’re on that journey, which is why Stan Kroenke is involved in our club, that’s why our board, who are lifelong fans of this club, are involved and it’s why Arsène Wenger and I are involved in this football club. Right through our staff, on the field and off the field, I can tell you that’s what everyone is driving for – we want Arsenal to be in that elite group of football clubs around the world.

Sorry if that made you choke on your cornflakes……

Have a great day all…..

  1. Lee says:

Arsenal have made an offer to sign injury-plagued French Under-20 utility man Stephane Sparagna when his contract expires in December.

The 19-year-old was previously considered one of Marseille’s stars of the future but the Ligue 1 club have dragged their feet on offering him a new deal, because of his poor injury record.

But it has not put off Arsenal, with La Marseillaise newspaper saying the Gunners have made an offer to lure Sparagna to the Emirates before the end of the year.

A centre back who often plays as a defensive midfielder, Sparagna has been dubbed the ‘new Mathieu Flamini’ by the French media.

Rennes have also made an approach for Sparagna but Arsene Wenger is hopeful of doing business.

    morning all!
Ssome games in December were be rescheduled
    Another croq?
If he is not injury will be good.

  3. Wavy says:

So, Hayden is not going to feature! Another French shirker is to employed instead. As you say, you couldn’t make it up!
Why bother with development squad at all, when you can rejects free when they reach 19 or 20?
    It really does begger belief!

  4. Adam says:

Odd that Gazidis is talking about what happens after Wenger in that interview when he still has the best part of 3 seasons left on his contract.

  5. Wavy says:

There is an ‘a’ and an ‘acquire’ missing from the penultimate sentence. Sorry, I was over eager and quite cross about what I believe is another incomprehensible move on the part of, The Management!

  6. sunny says:

The only business that’s sure with Wenger is buying below average and injury prone players from France. Arsene Wenger needs help, he does not know how or what to buy in the market anymore. If a lay man like could see that the team needs a nature ball holding midfielder at his prime, how come a reknown coach like Wenger can’t see it? Now, Gazidis and Kroenke will give us gibberish with sugar icing of how they are planning for the team to be up there with the best. Imagine! With players who cannot hold there own with the top teams? Gazidis and Wenger should resigned for the love of Arsenal FC.

  7. Wavy says:

I’ve one or two as well, and very worthy they are too. Only downside is, well maybe. they enjoy playing squeeze boxes and Morris dance a lot. Some even haul up at Stonehenge on national Druids Day (summer solstice).but they all seem happy enough!

  8. Wavy says:

Just read Ivan’s words of …..wisdom? It’s all about tomorrow and what we will have going forward….mmmm does he know that tomorrow never comes? I’m all for planning especially with futuristic ambitions and hopes but, I think it’s time we reaped some rewards with Trophies on their plinths glistening in their gloriousness along the Emirates presentation Level!
    Deliver Ivan, deliver!
    Stan get a grip.
Wenger, prepare for a glorious and hard worked for retirement.
Long remember the ‘old order’ and bring on the ‘new’.

  9. Wavy says:

    Nah. Course he isn’t!
    He’s not a sun worshipper…………..he’s a syrup worshipper!

    Ok, I know……..enough is enough!

  10. rico says:

Sorry for the delay in letting you out of moderation Sunny, Wath was sleeping… 😉

Hope you pop back. I agree, Kroenke and Wenger should move on…

  11. allezkev says:

What’s the weather like in transition Lee?

I was thinking of having a weekend break ya see…

    Oh, and, Afternoon All….

    Afternoon Ricolinho…

  12. rico says:

This will make you laugh, someone mailed me asking if they could advertise on HH. All I had to do was post a link to their client in an article which they would very kindly write – about football and Arsenal of course.

The article arrived just now – it’s a preview of the Chelsea game and how we’d have to be at the top of our game if we are to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge….

This guy clearly knows his football…. 😉

  13. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

    Rico,

You giving Shad Forsythe any credit? I’ve never seen Arsenal this bare after just seven games since I became a fan. In fact I’m dreading that record … when Arsenal can’t field just 11 players in an EPL match.

To me, the German has brought nothing but disaster! If he’s any good then he must be extremely unlucky!

  14. rico says:

    Tai,

Can’t blame Shad for the injuries. I’m just talking about two players nearing a return who haven’t suffered the usual setback…

Shad has been with us how long? Three months? He can’t work miracles can he, otherwise Diaby may have played before now and Sanogo wouldn’t be ‘play one, miss one’……

  15. rico says:

Seriously though – he’s not responsible for the injuries, just the recovery programme so how can be blamed for our injury list?

  16. Bt62 Gooner says:

Rico, regarding Shad, i read an article which suggested that there maybe some conflict between him and Tony Colbert.

  17. Adam says:

Rico. As I understand it, no-one at the club gets to do what they do best without having to go through Arsene first. In any discussion there will only be one winner and as far as training and injuries go we have seen the results of the status quo for many years now. It doesn’t surprise me that this year is more of the same.

  18. rico says:

Adam, Jonker hinted that that may not be the case. If he can do it, so can others. Someone has to grow a bleedin pair! But hang on, that useless, gutless Septic couldn’t give a toot!

  19. Adam says:

Rico. We have to hope the injury record improves otherwise results will not improve.
    The AGM should be interesting.

  20. rico says:

Agree Adam, but then it would be nice to have a squad deep enough to cope when we do get the odd few injuries…

  21. Hell Raising Devil says:

Some of my best friends are witches, Kev. Super sexy ones to boot as well.

    Good evening Fine Folk.

Good post. But who the hell is Dibay???

  22. Hell Raising Devil says:

Sanogo play one miss one???? LOL that one.

More like one play one miss 3 and 5……..games and sitters respectively. 😉

  23. Bt62 Gooner says:

Rico, i think if they win it will be the first time since 1968, they have won 3 qualifiers in a row.!

  24. rico says:

Very boring Scott, thankfully I had a few days away to break the two weeks up…

Have we got 11 fit players to face Hull?

  25. scottfromoz says:

Lee, maybe, but in general, Arsenal will remain Arsenal with Stan at the helm.
Rico, we are good to go….I’m playing left mid!

  26. rico says:

I’d rather both left to be honest. A stronger manager would demand more money, a more interested and ambitious owner, would make the money available and make sure it was spent and wouldn’t just settle for 4th each season….

  27. scottfromoz says:

Rico, We get is strong enough to resist bigger offers from Real and others, and also to contend with the constant abuse he’s copped.
One thing I wouldnt question is his mental strength 🙂

  28. rico says:

If he had a pair Scott, he’d demand money if he’s not being given it and he’d make sure we had a squad which look liked it could win things..

We he drifts along thinking he can win something on a shoestring and prove to the whole world that he’s right.

    We’ll have to agree to differ… 😉
