Welbeck abuse. Scouts eyeing Dragovic & Subotic? Singapore Cup is a daft decision….

Morning all.

Still smiling? Yep me too. We have a few more days of milking that wonderful victory yet…..

Danny Welbeck has been talking about his winning goal:

Manchester United is a club that means so much to me, I’m a fan and it’s hard to knock them out. I was just doing my job.

It was about being professional, keeping my focus and motivation. I kept plugging away and then got on the end of Antonio Valencia’s backpass, beat David de Gea and got the winning goal.

I’m just really pleased we’re through to the next round.

And pleased we are all too Danny boy….

It must be hard for a player to have been at a club since he was just eight years old, to then be dumped out of the club fifteen years later by an old managerial has been…

As we all know, a club is at the heart of home grown players and of course the fans who have stood on the terraces supporting them week in week out, not any one manager or another. Most of the Utd fans still supported him, well, before he scored but even then, he was clapped off of the pitch by both sets of supporters.

Not by all Utd supporters of course in fact some were so cheesed off with him, they vented some pretty nasty stuff on Twitter which have been reported by The Mirror and they are so bad, the police are apparently investigating the matter further.

Football fans can be a cruel bunch can’t they but as one Utd fan said, the club weren’t loyal to the player, so why should fans expect any loyalty in return? It’s not like Danny Welbeck asked to leave Utd in search of more money or trophies, LvG told him he wasn’t good enough.

As for the celebration, which clearly irked the home fans, Jamie Carragher said:

Brilliant celebration from Welbeck none of that respect Man Utd fans nonsense. I just loved seeing Danny Welbeck celebrate his goal. It is a load of tosh when a former player doesn’t celebrate against his old team.

Goal scoring is why we play/watch/support — and it’s a while since Danny scored one! United didn’t want to keep him, he left for Arsenal and here he was back at Old Trafford scoring a predatory winner.

Mind you, Liverpool fans hate the Mancs as much as we do so no great surprise in what Carragher but the most important thing is Welbeck was in the place at the right time and he scored what turned out to be the winning goal for the club who have given him a new chance and the one who pays his wages.

Let’s hope his goals now come thick and fast, we need them….

Transfer gossip:

Dynamo Kiev 24 year old centre-back Aleksandar Dragovic is reported to be a player Arsene Wenger wants in the summer. His side play Everton on Thursday and our scouts will be their watching him. (Metro)

The same paper also suggests that  Neven Subotic is high on the wishlist as he enters the final year of his contract after the summer…

Finally, we are off to Asia in July, joining Everton, Stoke City and a Singapore Select XI team to compete for the Barclays Asia Trophy Singapore in July 2015.

Well I think that’s a daft decision, not going to Asia but playing Stoke in pre-season. Don’t we suffer enough injuries?

That’s it for today, have a good one….

    Morning All

    Morning Rico…

Yes, Adam is absolutely correct, green tea has turned my life around.

I no longer try to run over cyclists or pedestrians. I am becalmed and quite mellow…

And as my pie n mash mucker Lee relates, it gives you a roaring appertite…

So yes, everyone should try green tea, and
    Vape…

You know it makes sense… 🙂

  2. allezkev says:

Finish in the top three Rico, and the trip to Singapore would be a useful warm up and help spread the club’s profile into that lucrative market..,

  3. bripriuk says:

    Hi Rico
I havn’t seen a Manu fan since Monday, they must have crawled back under their stones.
You’re right about Danny, this will do him a world of good, and keep the pressure on Big G.
I thought it was a bit rich of Jose Voldemort to complain about PSG using dirty tactics and rotational fouling when he’s been doing it to us for years. I hope PSG kicks them off the pitch, it will serve them right.
    Brian

  4. HenryB says:

Green tea is fine, but without wishing to offend anyone, I do not understand adding milk and sugar to it. Yeuk. 🙂

  5. rico says:

But Stoke Kev, we could pick up a few injuries against those thugs…

Hi Brian. I couldn’t believe the words coming from the dwarf either, talk about people in glass houses….

  6. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Lovelies an Hunkies.

A smiley post Rico. One which makes you remember how to smile after a wonderful result.

Dragovic or Subotic??? It cant be two unless two are leaving. Remember we already have Per, Kos, Gaby and Chambers. So in essence it must be that two defenders are leaving or AW knows something we do not know.

    Or its all paper talk.

  7. HenryB says:

Maureen is one of the most odious managers to grace the football world.

He always has something unpleasantly sour to say about other teams or their managers, and yet the Press suck up to him and say [chuckle, chuckle] ‘what a character he is’ – [excuse me while I chuck up] — I suppose that he gives them something to write about which just shows what lame brains many of them are.

  8. Hell Raising Devil says:

With regards the DW23 abuse you get these in every club Rico.

    they are morons.

We all hate Judas Persie for what he did. But DW23 is different. He was shoved out by the club’s manager. So imo, his celebrations, besides being for the team that pays him, were all intently aimed at LVG…..who told him he was not at the level of Manure status.

Now all we need is for someone to convince DW23 that LVG was right all along. He is not United’s level. He is far superior to that.

  9. rico says:

He sure is Henry, hope Psg beat them tonight…

That’s just my point Devil, Utd didn’t want him so the fans should be bitter with the manager, not the player…

The likes of Nasri, Adebayor, etc etc – very different imo..

  10. scottfromoz says:

    Morning all.
The Manc game proved what an honest and competent referee can do…..get nearly everything right.
It also showed how much difference it can make as we got the result.
We can go on and on about a referees impact, and I have said all along that quote often it’s down to our crap play, but we played well, the referee did well and we won the game…..it is no coincidence.
Adam, you are right about the technology becoming more prominent but I hate it, as a rule.
There are exceptions…goal line technology is great as is post match reviews looking at foals etc etc.
I hope it never becomes part and parcel of the 90 minutes on game day apart from goal line reviews.
Welbeck was not wanted….why wouldn’t he celebrate?
I loved it, no and he didn’t go over the top.
Manc fans everywhere are nowhere….to be seen or heard, that is lol.

  11. Hell Raising Devil says:

Scott………There are exceptions…goal line technology is great as is post match reviews looking at foals etc etc.

Do they discuss foals in post match reviews in OZ??? are they donkeys or horses?? 😛

  12. rico says:

I’m all for technology Scott, it’s the only way forward imo.. If it’s done properly, it will not only take seconds t review, but it might make referees up their game knowing their basic errors will be highlighted…

  13. scottfromoz says:

Rico, it doesn’t take a few seconds though…….and you still end up with half agreeing with the call, and half disagreeing, if Rugby. League is anything to go by.
What happens is the referees stop making close calls, and head to the video ref every time.
That’s depending exactly how far they go, and how it’s utilised of course but from what I’ve seen, I hate it.

  14. Adam says:

Getting the right decision is surely the most important thing. Mind you, Cahill would still have stayed on after his horror tackle on Sanchez but would have received a 2 or 3 match retrospective ban. This is IFvideo evidence was used after the event. But, if there was a qualified ref with a TV monitor in front of him, connected to the ref during play, he could and would have said that the tackle was a red card horror all day, every day. It would have taken less than the time it took for Alexis to receive treatment for the assault.

  15. rico says:

But Scott, I’m talking about red card offences & offsides really. It’s not very often a 3rd party will disagree on a horror tackle…

  16. bripriuk says:

The problem with using replays is that for every few that can be sorted quickly there will be one that wont, and in some games there will be a lot giving 15 or more minutes of extra time. Sky won’t put up with that.
Most people only talk about having replays when the ref gets it wrong. To find the wrong decisions there must be replays where the ref gets it right and they get it right more often than not – LOTS of replays.
Another point – a close offside, linesman flags, ref blows, replay says definitly on-side. How do you re-start the game? This will apply to a lot of the times when the ref gets it right.
I could go on with examples, it’s fine in theory but won’t work in practice.
    Brian

  17. rico says:

Brian, I don’t think when Technology comes in it will be a free for all. Also, I suspect it will focus on the bigger issues first and the introduction will be gradual.

It works in rugby, cricket, tennis – it has to be introduced to football and the sooner the better for me..

We ask for a level playing field, surely that’s the only way we’ll get it…

  18. tsgh says:

So Rico, now I have to try to watch Russian league too as we have been linked to Dragovic? 😀
Maybe I will keep an eye on frimps and report on him as well onMicko and Syg’s behalf 🙂

    Good read btw…

Will love it if the chavs are dumped by an Ibrahimovic master class or a Luiz screamer…

Scott- I think you are being kind to the ref., he let Yanited get away with loads in the first half… imho of course.

  19. Adam says:

I would imagine that, in many games, there will be hardly any recourse to replay. But, fair play must be rewarded as foul play and intention to cheat must be punished. This could have a rolling effect and as time passed those, like Hughes, Mourinho and Pulis who send their players out to cheat and injure will find there is a cost to pay. It could be as simple or complex as those who instigate it design it to be.

  20. Bob John says:

    Hi all
Jose Moron at his paranoid worst again! He reminds me of Dick Dastardly in the Wacky Races who could have won easily but decided to sabotage his opponents to make sure. If Moron just sent his team out to play football they would probably win but his paranoia means he has to try to gain further advantage by any means. Pathetic creature!

  21. allezkev says:

Seems that Gabriel is a quick healer and that he could return to training next Monday…

Pity the Monaco game is on the Tuesday.

  22. rogerbij says:

Suggestion, to start with video refs should be able to
    – check that a goal scored is legal (like rugby that the try was scored)
    – check that an awarded penalty is a penalty (and if not can be overturned)

Nothing else to start. That would eliminate ~80% of the worst game changing decisions and should only mean 1 or 2 reply checks per game

  23. rico says:

Scott, in the second half, yes but had Oliver been stronger in the first half, Fellaini and even Rojo could easily been sent off….

Like Adam, I truly believed someone in the know, had a word in his ear at half-time….

  24. rico says:

Thanks Ts but I wouldn’t bother with the Russian league, it’s the Metro… 😉

    Agree Adam re 1.50pm.

    Hi Bob…

    Kev, great news re Gabriel..

Roger, I disagree, the first place I’d love them to start is looking at the bad tackles, I know it’s Chelsea but Matic could easily have had his leg broken against Burnley, as could Alexis against Chelsea by Cahill and I’m sure there are many many more.

If technology is introduced and such offences are dealt with at the time, the idiots who commit the bad ones might actually think twice. After all, if they only get booked, they’ll carry on and on…

  25. frednerk says:

One thing that won’t change in football,
    Ref’s making mistakes…..part and parcel.

    Look at that europa cup,
them extra two nobs at each end,
    what are they looking at
and on top of that we have a 4th official,
    whats that all about.
If you want to slow the game down
    bring in Technology.
You can’t compare Rugby and cricket
    With Football

  26. Joe says:

Most replays on sky are up and running within seconds after the event happens and after 30 seconds if they can’t decide a decision should be change stick with the refs original decision.

  27. Micko says:

    See Bayern fluked it again……!

rico, what do you make of Kat’s new mobile phone holder ? A bit of handful lol !!!

Chelsea vs PSG, what a dirty cheating diving bunch of tossers the lot of them are , Monaco will sort them out.

  28. Wavy says:

If I’d known Clarkson was a chav id never have signed the petition to reinstate the BBC’s best presenter! Well, maybe I would!
However, the poison dwarf has failed to reach the quarter finals of the CL! I suppose that he’s an expert in failure! So much for the 4 titles he was going to win! Absolute failure. Oh dear what a pity, never mind!
Night all, sleep comfortably and peacefully in your beds. Perhaps it will be our week for revenge on the French next week, Monegasques at least! Life is full of unpredictable outcomes.

  29. Judge me in May says:

    Yes indeed what a week..
Manure and the chaves put back where they belong.. .. ha ha ha..
I was listening to 5 live and when cahill scored, both Alan Green and the numpty mark lawernson concluded game over.. ha ha ha… what a punch of a**holes..
moroonio face after the game was priceless..
He could never blame the referee after he gifted them a send off and a penalty.. Could he!?
    What a tool..
Carlsberg definitely can make football nights.. lol

  30. Micko says:

PSG, they only need 10 men lol.

Seriously, 250 grand win bonus each man tonite, where the fcuk did I go wrong !!!

    Nite Gooners.

  31. Lee says:

Morning all, well not so good if you’re a classless chav fan! Wankers!
Rumours of Subotic, Schneiderlin and Cech in the summer….. would we be happy with that?
So Walcott is stalling on his contract…… sell him?
PSG played 1.5 hours of last night’s game with 10 men….. hats off!
    PSG formed in 1970!
    Verratti yes please!!

  32. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.

I am still smiling today. Especially as I got to know that the Chavs have been knocked out.

But on the other hand I am bit down….because now they only have the league to concentrate upon. Had they passed they would have the CL on their plate as well.

but all in all I am happy. It might be that the feeling that they got knocked out by being sterile might impact their babyish mind and also their results

Seems that LVG has been given a vote of confidence. Hmmmmm. Is he a few days away from being sacked????

Arteta is going to stay for one more year. That means that Flamini will soon be given a vote of confidence as well. While Diaby will be given a vote of accident waiting to happen.

  33. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Schneiderlin would be good.

However I am sceptic about Cech. Yes he would improve us….but I would be very surprised to see him come. AW sees Ospina, MArtinez and Iliev as our three keepers and that’s that. I think he sees MArtinez as our long term solution. Even Ospina is still relatively young.

Subotic coming means only one thing…..One of Per and Kos will be going. Both are getting older…Kos is getting injured more…..Per will become slower……so one of them will go. Don’t forget we have Gaby and Chambers……so one will have to leave.

  34. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. What a classless and disgraceful club Chelsea proved themselves to be last night. Still, as Mourinho pointed out, it was the players fault and nothing to with him as he is always honest. A despicable creature in every sense of the word. 🙂

  35. rico says:

Morning Adam, and to think there was a time when Arsenal fans wanted him as our manager… 😉

That club are rotten through and through….

  36. Adam says:

Two different situations Rico. Chelsea embody a culture of dishonesty and cheating endorsed by the fact that the racist John Terry remains, like a festering wound, as captain of the club. He exemplifies what Chelsea are just as Costa has been encouraged to ramp up his aggression and cheating alongside the rest of them. When that revolting little creep Oscar went down in the challenge with Zlatan and all the Chelsea players surrounded the ref and began waving furiously at the bench for the physio to come on it seemed as if there was a very serious injury. But it was all fake, all cheating. It was done under the instructions of Mourinho because that is the culture of him and Chelsea. Together they are toxic and Souness and Carragher correctly pointed this out. I was surprised at how strong their words were, especially on Sky who have a history of fawning to Mourinho.

  37. rico says:

Just read Carragher’s comments, very strong indeed, and he’s right. How can a club like theirs with those kind of tactics be respected…

I hope whichever ref is in charge of our game against them watched on and taken note….

  38. tsgh says:

    Bonjour Mes Amis

lovely to hear Rumpelstiltskin complain about 2 injuries:-)

This league might be competitive but it is very over rated and tactically clueless…

Motto and even young Rabiot showed how a true no.6 should play tactically…
Before Rabiot came on for Matuidi, the former and Motto held the midfield together like a fortress allowing Verrati and wasteful Pastore to flourish…

Rabiot is looking a player; AW loves his left footed no.6’s so lets see…

  39. tsgh says:

Cesc showing his true colours… going missing post January.

    The latter*

Psg vs Fc Hollywood final looking for likely…

  40. scottfromoz says:

    Morning all.
Today’s loss for Chelksi is app. 95% as satisfying for me as us beating Yanited.
    I can’t believe how happy I am.
Joe Say is simply the most horrid, disgraceful excuse of a Human being, a term I use loosely, involved in football.
I loathe him so much more than I ever did Fergie, even I’m surprised.

  41. allezkev says:

Schneiderlin and Subotic would represent quite an interesting summer…

Probably agent-inspired rumours, but it’s positive to see us linked to these type of players….

Walcott is, it seems, is on his way out this summer?

  42. Hell Raising Devil says:

Theo would easily fetch 20 to 25mill I think. The more there are for him the better. It will turn into an auction.

Yes Kev….I would like Cech as well. But as you said……the midget would block any deal while I still think AW feels happy with Ospina et al.

Ches will leave in summer I feel.

  43. tsgh says:

I wonder what has made folks and pundits alike wake up to the antics of Jose/

2.5 seasons ago those same folks were calling for the AFC board to get rid of AW and get a winner like Jose in…

Maybe football is not all about winning at all cost after all…

I love the way Le Monde newspaper did not even mention Psg in their paper yesterday
