‘We die for Arsenal’ – he gets my vote…

He’s my favourite….

We die for the team and you could see it today in every tackle, every chase down and every block. It was fantastic to see.

That’s what you get from a true Arsenal guy. Same with Carl Jenkinson. They might not be the best footballers in the world but what they give in terms of effort, passion and commitment is priceless. I think both are good footballers anyway, especially AMN. I know the club will probably sell a few of our upcoming players but I’d be really disappointed if AMN was one of them. Actually, I’d be utterly peed off! Jenks too but I think that’s more of a case of my heart ruling my head but who knows now he’s back training hard and getting the odd game. Emery might see something he likes, something he believes in.

It’s the end of the month, time for voting. Goal of the month and player of the month. AMN, Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka are up for both on the official site with Bernd Leno in the one category. It’s tough to call I think. Leno was superb against Toots, Ramsey scored a cracking goal that day too. Against Utd at home, Xhaka scored a superb goal from distance and his performance against Rennes was pretty good. But for me, AMN nicks it, certainly for player of the month because I thought he was outstanding against Utd. I’ve seen so called ‘better’ right backs get roasted by a Rashford, Martial or Young. Not AMN, not that day. It’s tempting to suggest he deserves goal of the month too but I think that has to go to either Xhaka or Ramsey…

During the same interview, AMN talked about how Arsenal need to make The Emirates a place other clubs don’t like going to. A bit like Highbury, certainly during the days of Tony Adams and co. He’s right of course, and in the league, we’ve pretty much done just that. A couple of blips against City, Liverpool and Wolves I think it was, but other than those three, we’ve done really well. It’s the first time in a while we’ve thumped Toots, Utd and Chelsea in the same season, pretty convincingly too. Even against City we created enough opportunities to sneak a draw at least and against Liverpool, while a draw wasn’t embarrassing, a victory should have been the end result.

Away from home is where we’ve come undone. 9th of February was the last victory and that was against Huddersfield. Before then, it was November last year with a 2-1 win over Bournemouth.

Eight fixtures left, five of those being away from home, a top four spot is anything but a certainty. Winning our home fixtures will help, but winning on the road is crucial and we’re not good at doing that. In any competition….

But as AMN said, he and his teammates are prepared to give their all for the club. They were good at Wembley, our last league game on the road and that’s the kind of attitude and commitment we need to see in our remaining five away fixtures. The home ones too of course, let’s not forget those. All three of them.

Have a great weekend guys. Lawnmowers and BBQ’s I reckon..

Good morning Rico, yep definitely barbecue weather in sweltering Norfolk. Though why anyone would want to cook their food over an open charcoal (carcinogenesis) open fire when they have a fully functioning kitchen only yards away is beyond my compression. 😉

“We die for the team”, figuratively speaking of course, a message that needs to get across to certain members of our team who shall be nameless.

Birmingham vs Arsenal Women tomorrow live on BBC Red Button 12.30. A chance to cement top spot in the Womens Super League.

Bloody hell, Cicero, it’s only a lack of suitable BBQ weather in England that stops you appreciating how good it is 🙂 🙂
    Morning guys.
Nice post, Rico, and isn’t it funny how we have so many kids coming through the ranks coinciding with a definite must ncrese in spirit amongst fans?
    Brilliant stuff!!

AMN is one of my favourites too.
It’s great to have proper football back, looking forward to Monday’s game reminds me of the 7-3 a few years ago, brilliant,a similar result will do nicely.
Now see our rivals drop points hopefully.

Well done Rico, just to share your feelings on AMNs potential but to note that it seems you are overly enamoured with him. Could boost his confidence to be made player of the month, if boosting his confidence is the aim, but no, he’s not done enough for it!

    Daniel, he’s still a baby.
I like the fact he’s getting regular game time as it will only improve him.
