Walcott out for the season? Ramsey Red is good news for Arsenal

Morning all,

Why not?

After all, Jack Wilshere picks up a knock to his ‘good’ ankle and straight away the media frenzy erupted.

As of course did many fans who wanted to blame the manager for overplaying him. Can you imagine trying to tell Jack Wilshere he needs a break, he’s a Gooner, if he’s fit he’ll want to be on the pitch doing all he can to secure victory, not sat on his backside having a little rest.

I’m sure the only reason he’s not playing is to keep him from playing for England. When Reading arrive at The Emirates, I strongly suspect he’ll either be starting or coming on from the bench. The latter of course is more likely, just to keep the FA off of the clubs back.

Now Theo has picked up an injury, I’m not quite sure what injury he has sustained because one newspaper says it’s a thigh injury, another says it’s a groin strain yet the official site say’s he has suffered a hip injury.

I say, how convenient!

Does that mean he’s out for the season too?

Of course it doesn’t yet this is a man who has struggled with injury season after season so why the different rules I wonder. Of course, Jack was out for the entire season last term, so of course any little injury to him means something different. The fact it was to his ‘good’ ankle made little difference to the mischief makers.

My own view is that Arsenal are desperate to get a top four finish, they want to have as many players back in London as they can..

Ok that still leaves many other overseas players on call for their countries but maybe Wenger has a better understanding with the managers abroad, maybe he knows players won’t feature in both fixtures or at least not for 90 minutes each game.

Mind you, I’m surprised Podolski has travelled, he has been ‘unfit to play’ for us recently.

Could Wenger want him to get playing time as we prepare for a tough run-in?

And please don’t anyone think I am condoning the top four season finish being the bee all and end all, I don’t. I just want the club I support to win each game and finish as high in the table as it possibly can.

To wish anything else would be a sin in my opinion.

Quick round up of the Internationals..

England sneaked a lucky win last night, nice to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain add to his International goal tally. Good goal too despite Shrek nearly taking the ball off of his feet.

Arron Ramsey also found the back of the net for Wales, but he also found an early bath after being shown a red card so he to could be on his way home.

Elsewhere, Thomas Vermaelen got on the score-sheet as Belgium beat Macedonia 2-0. Olivier Giroud scored one and missed a easy opportunity to get a second in France’s 3-1 victory over Georgia, Koscielny didn’t feature in the victory which is good but I suspect he will play when France come up against Spain next week.

Talking of which, Santi Cazorla played the first forty-five minutes as his country managed to draw with Finland. Nacho Monreal was an unused substitute.

Podolski got some playing time too, unlike Wojciech Szczesny, who as expected, was only a spectator as Poland lost 3-1 at home to Ukraine.

Fingers crossed Theo’s injury is not as bad as the newspapers are making out. We should hear over the next 48 hours…

Think that’s about it for another day, have a good one all….

    Morning All?

I thought Oxo played a mature game for england last night,
to those that have questioned his lack of progress this season,
and taking account of the pub-teams limitations.
I think we can all still see he retains, the abilities he had when joining us.

  2. W.A.T.H says:

I was on my way down to you with the snow plough Rico but found a pub doing breakfast so i’m afraid I’m sat in front of the log fire with a heaping great big brekkie and a pint of GG………… 😀

  3. adam says:

Morning Rico and all. Will this winter ever stop? I feel like Bill Murray at Gobbler’s Knob waiting for that bloody giant rodent to emerge from his nest to signal the start of spring.
It surely must be Wenger’s fault.

  4. rico says:

Me too fred, thought he was good….

You are all heart Wath 😉

Morning Adam… Just been to dig the chickens out of the snow 😛

    Morning all, Nice one Rico.
Pity we didn’t put the same effort in in the cups as we seem to be doing for the top four trophy. Until we start the season with a team that can compete for the league, i see us carrying on in the same old way. Year after year we see the same old Arsenal weaknesses and lacking what’s needed to win the league. Our little hopes have been evaporating as we lose in every competition until the last part of the season, when we only have top four to play for. Wenger will keep turning up with comments of togetherness and belief and of course his faith in the team to fight for top four, and of course the biggest trophy of all, qualification to Champions League that we all know we don’t stand a chance in. Many will say i am not positive and all these negative comments do not help the team. All i can say is when Wenger starts to show positivity in his buying that’s when i start to believe we stand a chance. Wenger’s negativity over many years has to come to an end soon. How many failures can a club have before pressure is put on him. Supporters are the ones that know who is good enough they have a lifetime of watching top talent they know that a top keeper looks like, they know that a solid defence will help you win the league, they also know that a top centre forward is a must if you want to score goals and win things .Wenger on the other hand keeps penny pinching. We get to the last few games and then he tries to pull out all the stops for that elusive £30 million CL money. We all know we need top quality players but he knows better if he manages to get that £30 mill he will say we need nobody.

  6. W.A.T.H says:

I am always looking out for you Rico…. Someone needs to look after you Adam is always off his trolley…!

  7. rico says:

Thanks Sp, ditto re the effort, seems the top four challenge brings the best out of them, and AW.. Poor eh.

  8. rico says:

Did you see the financial report from the AST Sp, £70 – £90 million should be available to spend this summer by their reckoning. That’s before player sales too I think…

But will Wenger be given it, if he is, will he spend it ‘properly’…..

  9. rico says:

Well you won’t see much with your face in a sunny side up Wath 😉

GG at this time of the day, that’s nearly as bad as Adam yesterday 😉

  10. W.A.T.H says:

Rico the GG invigorates all the parts that the other vodka’s fail to reach…! Easy over for me though you should know that 😉

  11. stevepalmer1 says:

Don’t believe a word of it Rico, Lies. Its a ploy to try and tell the football world that we are a top club. We have no top class players, many will say Jack but he’s still a lad, and we haven’t brought him. he’ll be worth a few bob now so don’t get too attached to him. We are not so much a football club, just a business that is doing quite well without spending. New Blood is the only way, manager and players and of course new tactics a new Manager is what we need somebody that wants success on the pitch not a banker.

  12. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Good post Rico. Thought the Ox looked impressive, his touch and movement was first class and ahows he is learning the game. The boy deserves a run and he is as fresh as a daisy too. Agree about Jack and Theo. Bodes well for the run in, at least our players should be relatively fresh. We’ve got your weather now Rico, six inches of snow in Essex and still snowing.

Adam, good weather for the log burner 🙂 Off to get a cheese selection for tonight and a bottle of port, got friends round, perfect weather for it! Any recommendations?

  13. rico says:

Ah yes, I forgot you like a bit of easy and over Wath…

You know that’s how I feel Sp, we always hear such spin coming out of the club, but people keep saying that this is the summer of change, this is when FFP finally awards us…

    However…

I’ll believe it when I see it.

Really don’tr agree re Jack, he’s going nowhere…

  14. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Frednerk Agree about the Ox but I think he looks more mature and is starting to learn his trade. No doubt this boy could play in the middle, I think he could become a big player for us.

  15. frednerk says:

    Hope so KJ
Steve did you read the bit on wenger from sullivan (porn king),
    he said:
West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan believes Arsenal would have won silverware this season had they spent between £30-£40million on a superstar striker in the summer.

  16. adam says:

Rico and Wath. I will have you know that I have been slaving over the keyboard this morning, earning a crust.

KJ. It depends on the depth of your pocket. I get the impression you are a rich man. But a vintage is out of the question at such short notice so I would go for a single Quinta, perhaps a Quinta De Vargellas from Taylors? Personally I don’t like LBV stuff or any of those. A man of your obvious means should really have a few bottles in the cellar, then you could push the boat out on some vintage stuff. Port producers only declare a Vintage in exceptional years. My favorite is Taylors ’63 though I could be tempted by a Fonseca ’70. Remember to decant though, after leaving it on its side for as long as possible to avoid sediment. disgusting stuff. Best of luck and get that credit card working. And a decent Stilton for a gentleman like yourself-obviously.

  17. Wavy says:

From a Barcelona sports paper. Are they running scared? Are we anout to make an offer for Iniesta? Just to pay off their debts to us?
    You can decide for yourselves.

They’ve got some cheek have the Catalan press. One of the same newspapers which helped Barcelona unsettle players like Cesc Fabregas, Alex Song and others before them has today decided to rip into Arsenal over their perceived summer transfer plans and the club fishing for talent from the Camp Nou.

With the headline ‘Arsenal, a bad client’, they go on to say that Arsenal have historically squeezed the coffers of Barcelona when they’ve wanted to sign a ‘gunner’ and that ‘not content with this’ – as if trying to get a good transfer fee was taking a liberty – they hang around the Catalan quarry (how Spaniards refer to their youth set-ups) like a ‘hungry vulture’.

The article in Sport (see below) is eyebrow raising to say the least. They accept that Thierry Henry may have been decent for two seasons at Barcelona but then go on to say:

‘More serious was Hleb. At the express wish of Guardiola, the Belarusian cost €17m in one of the worst operations of history in the Catalan market.’

It reads like they are angry with Arsenal for somehow tricking Barcelona and Pep Guardiola.

They then complain that Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song didn’t come cheap, which is cheeky considering they did all they could to unsettle the players and give a better price for Barcelona, and finally go on to an issue where they may have a point.

‘In addition, Arsenal remains obsessed with the Barca homegrown. To the last two cases (Jon Torl and Hector Bellerin), you should add Cesc, Ignassi Miquel, Mikel Arteta, Fran Merida. And they tried it with Sergi Samper.’

Perhaps a point with some of those, but Mikel Arteta? Arsenal bought him from Everton who had bought him from Real Sociedad, who in turn got him from Rangers with the Scottish club signing the then 20 year old after Barcelona decided they didn’t want him.

The journalist David Rubio certainly doesn’t like Arsenal much.

  18. adam says:

Rubio is the Durham of Spain isn’t he? They both wear their intellectual limitations like a badge of honour,

Two for the pot I think.

  19. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Morning Rico – it is not about FFP. Although it would help keep wages down and prevent the risk of clubs going into admin, it won’t have much impact because I suspect it will be fiddled.

This whole subject is complex and too much is misunderstood. Largely because the press just seek headlines and fans are not being given information by the club. Drives me bananas this subject.

FFP is the elephant in the room.

The reason 2013/14 is different is due to the increased levels of cash now being released. For example, Arsenal have been tied to long term deals on shirt sponsorship and kit supplier to help the stadium project but these were not good deals. Next season we will have increased income from the renegotiated deal with Emirates AND the kit deal with Adidas. This is important.

Shirt sponsorship is interesting. Arsenal get £5m at present. Man Utd get £40m. That is some difference. In fact, Man city, Liverpool are getting £20m, Chelsea £15m and little Spurs are even getting £12.5m. Even Sunderland get £20 million from their invest in Africa deal.

Kit suppliers. We get £8m per season from Nike. Man Utd get three times what we get £26m, Liverpool £25m from Warrior and Chelsea and Man City £20m. Spurs are getting £10m.

So we have been getting very little in comparison.

Based on £150k per week salary (£7.5m per year) you can see how much difference the above makes and how many first class players salaries the combined sponsorship will cover each year. It puts things into perspective.

It gets boring I know but 2013/14 is when all the ducks should be in a row. We will no longer need to rely on player sales to finance further acquisitions or go towards paying off debt.

It is all very complex but the more you earn, the more you can spend. We will be up there with Bayern, Barca, Real and the Mgabrand Utd, as far as income generation. That is important because as I said the more you earn the more you can spend.

So the reason for optimism is not FFP – it is the increased money we will have. The FFP is not the argument, it is a bit of a red herring. If FFP ever gets implemented as intended, which I doubt, then this would jettison us into a different league and the days of the sugar daddy’s buying titles and inflating wages will be over. I can’t see it though.

I would like to think that Arsene Wenger is rubbing his hands with glee. From being a selling club to one that can actively compete for the best players. Different argument about how it gets spent but from a financial point of view, we should see a massive change in how the club operates in the transfer market.

  20. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Adam – I have you assuming I am wealthy and our American intellect suggesting I sit in a rocking chair, smoking a pipe in my smoking jacket, in front of a wood burner 🙂

Cheers for the tips, I will be off to Lidl or Aldi to see what I can pick up!

  21. Gonerjoe says:

Just thought after reading all the posts blaming Mr Wenger for the weather I now see how rumors are started. But I will know I have made the big time when the headline Wenger inflicts weather misery on nation appears in the red top gutter press.

  22. rico says:

That could be arranged Gjoe 😉

Kj. I like those two shops, I always expect to see Wenger in one or the other.

  23. Gonerjoe says:

Was enjoying my self posting yesterday posting when my wife and daughter took half days from work and collage to take me out for dinner and shopping.

  24. LB says:

Thanks Kevin KJ, for a rationale analysis of Arsenal’s business affairs. I’m so tired of the conspiracy “Wenger does not want to spend”, “board is holding Wenger back”, “we need Usmanov”. It is clear now, as Madrid start taking players on loan, and Barca complain about Arsenal approaching their players, and we get Cazorla for an amazingly low price, that the tables have turned as Wenger said they would. Enjoy it and stop slagging off your club.

  25. Gonerjoe says:

Rico the dinner was great not so much the shopping.
Adam- an answer to your question yesterday is no i am not in the services.

  26. rico says:

LB, those tables you talk about have hardly turned yet…

Up until now, those ‘conspiracies’ you talk about, have been there for us all to see.

How many players have Madrid and Barca signed on loan out of interest??

    I’m not sure of many….

Some fans are believing things will change this summer, well when they do, maybe those fans who you are having a dig at, will believe all the spin we have to date been fed by the club.

  27. Gonerjoe says:

My wife does not like football she can’t understand why I get upset when Arsenal don’t win. I know I am spending a lot of time upset but i still believe I support the best them in the world.

  28. rico says:

I had forgotten how funny some of the clips in ‘Any which way you can’ were. Especially in the Motel…. 😉

  29. agirlagunner says:

I am well, rico. I’ve been sewing. 🙂 🙂 Haha. So random, I know. Howdy??

Wavy, Barcelona is an icky club with icky players and icky mouthpieces pretending to be serious newspapers. Who are they kidding?? That club is so heavily in debt. I can’t wait for them to collapse and have to sell their stars.

  30. rico says:

Sewing agag, I am impressed 🙂 All good thanks, apart from this silly weather….

I don’t Adam, well unless is for food. I quite like looking around all the different pulses, vegetables and world food sections.

Otherwise, I’m just a wellies gal really 😉

  31. agirlagunner says:

Hello, gjoe. I don’t get how other people don’t get how upset I get when Arsenal lose. 😉

Hi, Adam. No shopping. It feels so wrooong. 😕

  32. agirlagunner says:

Just loose buttons and hemlines, rico. 😛 I have the opposite problem here. far too hot and humid. 😕

  33. agirlagunner says:

You’ve come to the right place, gjoe. Here, everyone gets upset when AFC lose. Heck, some in here get upset even when AFC win. 😀

What is pulse, rico?? I like the world food section. I invariably end up getting stuff I do not know how to cook. 😛 Well, I guess it’s cos I do NOT know how to cook.

  34. agirlagunner says:

Seriously, Adam. I’m saving up for my holidays. It feels like aaages ago since I’ve been away. 😉

  35. Gonerjoe says:

I am in the camp that a win is a win and with all this talk of food I think its time for me to eat not a pulse and grains man myself so it will have to be lots of meat and something else on the side.

  36. agirlagunner says:

Never, Adam. 🙂 I’m trying to get my friends to go with me. Maldives/Fiji midyear and I’m due to visit my favorite place, Thailand, again. Next year, London. Yay!

  37. rico says:

lentils, chickpeas, black-eyed peas, and all that kind of stuff agag. Very healthy but very good for someone like me who doesn’t eat meat…

  38. allezkev says:

    All Hail, The Shopping Goddess…

Agag, we are not worthy… 😉

    Sewing!!! Your ‘avin a larf…. 😛

  39. allezkev says:

Adam, you would like my cellar…

It has a few tins of varnish, some old rags and a parafin heater down there.
But alas, no vintage Cava… 🙁

    Hiya Rico… 🙂

  40. rico says:

I haven’t got any vintage Cava in my cellar either Kev, it’s never in the house long enough….

    Oh, and I don’t have a cellar 😉

  41. agirlagunner says:

Boo, Kev. 😛 I was trying to sew a small tear on a scarf, the needle snagged, I pulled, and I now have a fingernail-sized hole. Goodbye, scarf. 🙁 Howdy? Are you on break?

rico, he is a nobody who supports a nothing club. 🙂

  42. rico says:

Kj, your earlier comment makes our future sound all bright and rosy.

Well, like I keep saying, when that all takes place, we stop selling players and start buying ‘proper’ ones and coach them properly, then I’ll believe changes are on their way.

Until, I reserve the right to remain quite sceptical….

  43. rico says:

David Rubio could easily get a job alongside Gary Linekar. What a dick he is for writing that..

No-one asked Barca to sign our players… and Cesc expensive. On the open market we’d could have got 60+ million for him….

Sorry Wavy, I missed that comment earlier..

  44. W.A.T.H says:

Adam 12:15… earning a “crust” that a new slang word for your “dealings”…??? 😀 You moved from crack to crust..?

AGAG the seamstress that’s funny…. watch you don’t prick yourself after all those GG’s AGAG 😉

  45. agirlagunner says:

Hola, WATH. 😛 You been on hols?? I thought I was rather nifty with the needle, and here I have a scarf with a hole. 🙁

  46. agirlagunner says:

Just kidding, rico. 😛 I must admit, I tend to skip the comments of those who are habitually angry and whiney. 😀

  47. Gonerjoe says:

If we look ahead for what’s in the future for Arsenal I feel it maybe rosy with next season we will have 4 increases in revenue streams ie
1 33m increase in TV monies
2 25m increase in shirt sponsorship on top the of current deal.
3 30-35m on shirt manufacturing deal.
4 The return of one of the bands around the stadium for the club to sell advertising rights outside the naming rights.(not sure how much this will earn the club)
This will give the club two options increase the bloody bank balance or it can spend it on improving the squad and not having to sell our players.

  48. Wavy says:

It may be a diversionary tactic. Find something the fans can all believe by mounting a focused hate campaign to distract them from something far more significant.
The vultures are circling waiting to pick up cheap quality players for next to nothing so Barca can balance the books, a bit! They owe us millions and millions, maybe
Arsenal have called in the debt?

As for pulses Rico – I’m glad I don’t live in your house! All beans baked or otherwise have a disturbing effect on most normal people’s bowels! Still Lidl and Aldi do sell highly competitively priced toilet tissue (bog roll)!

  49. W.A.T.H says:

Was in Cape Town for a week or so AGAG had to sample some vino… Now I need a holiday…!

Next you’ll be telling us your knitting….! 😛

Hope your well, you need a scarf in that weather or are you preparing for your London trip and the snow sleet and blizzards..! that’s just September weather lol

  50. W.A.T.H says:

If the Adidas news is to be believed they are not interested in sponsoring us…. Seems Arsenal may just be feeling the effects of big corporates not wanting to invest large sums in a team that isn’t competitive ?

  51. Gonerjoe says:

That story on adidas has come from the daily mail it maybe true but then again. Arsenal may not be the biggest shirt seller in the world but we are one of the top shirt sellers world wide.

  52. rico says:

agag, I know what you mean. Mine 🙂

Gjoe, on paper it all sounds fine doesn’t it. Lets see.

Not me Wavy, been eating them far too long 🙂

  53. rico says:

Wath – I read LG earlier, they reckon there is another company hoping to get the deal. Not Nike either…

  54. W.A.T.H says:

Lets make no mistake we are going to get far more than what we getting now but we won’t get what we could of done if we’d been more competitive last few years.. why sponsor Arsenal when you can sponsor a team that wins things or competes to win…? Thats where we are in the business world at present many many options when money is tight.

  55. agirlagunner says:

“Some” vino, WATH?? I’m sure “lots” or “vats” would be more apt. 😛 My best friend knitted my muffler for me in high school so that I wouldn’t flunk home ec.

  56. rico says:

That’s why I struggle to understand why the club doesn’t invest more in the squad Wath, long-term it earns more…

  57. agirlagunner says:

You’re NOT whiny, rico. 🙂 I am referring to certain bloggers of the male persuasion. Ha ha ha.

When does spring start in England? In here, I always just hear about “rain” and “snow”. 🙂

  58. W.A.T.H says:

I must admit AGAG copious amounts were consumed but all in the name of “tasting ” I may add 😉

Gjoe…. they may think with the fact the Mancs sell so many more shirts than us our terms do not warrant being met if the club seem to be asking ofr to much… As you say Rico success breeds success if you don’t speculate you can’t hope to accumulate rather short sighted and now these commercial deals are coming up for renewal we’re not the big pull we used to be…!

When does Spring start… AGAG thats like asking how long is a piece of string… The weather is anyone guess…!

  59. W.A.T.H says:

Right the pub is calling so you good people have a great evening where ever you may be and you all take care….! Chat soon…!

Rico don’t let Adam get out of hand….! 😉

  60. agirlagunner says:

That’s exactly what I asked the Home Ec teacher, Adam. You can imagine that didn’t go down well. It’s silly. We spent years learning needlepoint, crocheting, knitting, cooking, gardening. And we had to learn to sing. Sing! The nuns can think up all sorts of tortures.

  61. Rick says:

Rico, Everyone is saying that we have got to change and you say you will beleive when it happens.
There was 5 British players in the squad against Bayen and both fullbacks were English.
When was the last time this happened and do you think that this is not a change ?

  62. Gonerjoe says:

Depending on Manu is like putting all your eggs in one basket and if we are the second best seller after man utd we most be worth more then we are currently getting from them. So no matter what way it works out staying with Nike or moving Adidas or some other manufactures of shirts our shirt income will increase by large amount.

  63. agirlagunner says:

Adam, I have a funny story about nuns. In our senior year, they made us sign a True Love Waits covenant printed out in calling cards. One of my best friends, Ms Goody goody, Teacher’s Pet, etc. was so into it and even kept hers in her wallet– to remind her to “behave” she said. Within xx months of entering university, guess who was was pregnant and unmarried? We still tease her about it.

  64. rico says:

    😆 Wavy, it sure is…..

Rick, with the greatest of respect, what difference does having five Brits in our side which faced Bayern make. Other than we had five Brits in our squad.

We still lost 2-0 and went out of the Champions League because we were battered at The Emirates.

  65. Adam says:

Agag. That’s a good ‘un. Did she know who the father was?
I have one of those from my days as one of England’s leading celibates. 🙂

  66. Wavy says:

    I thought it was:
Nun tonight, nun tomorrow night and nun this week!

She didn’t learn her nun’ s priests tale!

  67. Gonerjoe says:

The fact is with 5 English players all of them who came though our youth system our bought in young. Plus the last 6-7 players that we have bought have been 24-27 age bracket and all internationals for Spain,Germany and France. The next move is to stop selling our best players and things will have really changed.

  68. agirlagunner says:

Adam, 😛 Unfortunately, she married him. And she’s still married to him, more’s the pity.

rico, nuns are… something else. 🙂 Wavy, we used to laugh at how the nuns’ habits looked impressively starched when Fr. Alex visited for monthly confessions. 😀 And how they never wore their coke-bottle glasses.

  69. rico says:

You are on form today wavy…

Gjoe, only one came through our ‘true’ youth system though and that is Jack.

  70. tsgh says:

    Hi all,
Did Rico write this post?…x lol

DG…Its bloody freezin in your country! Someone must have left the freezer door open…

So theo is injured…and Rio went awol…

  71. Gonerjoe says:

Gibbs the others came in between 17-19 were Arsenal coaches would have had their input in to their training. But the fact is we now have a core of british 6 players brought to the club at a very young age who are all internationals. And signed to long term contracts.

  72. rico says:

Gjoe, Gibbs came in young, 14/15 I think after Wimbledon folded.

As did Abu Ogogo and James Dunne.

I really like the fact we have a few more Brits, but are they all truly so good they warrant a first team start every week?

Or could a club like ours, be signing a better quality of player, ones who would bring us a trophy every now and again, or at least look like we have the fight to try and win one….

  73. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Hi Rico – Glad I made the future sound bright and cheery but it wasn’t spin. I was just providing some facts about the sponsorship situation. Just simple facts concerning what we have been getting and what our rivals receive.

Up to you how you interpret the extra £40 million we could potentially earn each season with the two new deals. But you don’t have to be Stephen Hawkin to work out how that helps.

Where we do agree is that it is all well and good finally having the money but it is how it gets spent. But it does mean we will no longer need to sell our best players.

W.A.T.H it is not about success on the field. It is about the number of shirts sold. Simple. Arsenal sell serious numbers of shirts around the world, so we attract big interest of kit manufacturers. Naturally, the more successful, then the likelihood you will sell more shirts and can probably negotiate slightly higher. But remember, we were getting £5m so we can expect to seriously increase that. Liverpool get £25m and they are hardly successful. Even Spurs get double the amount we were getting. Man City get £20m and they have no history and sell small numbers compared to us.

  74. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Adam – Thanks for your advice, I bought a bottle of Taylor’s late bottled vintage for £25.00. Should open it later tonight, let you know how it goes.

  75. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Adam – the others were frightened expensive. One of those you said was over £300. You must be the wealthy one 🙂

  76. rico says:

Not on about your spin Kj, I am on about the spin from the club. And until all that they feed us comes true, I’ll remain cautious.

Facts? Or just your interpretation of all things Arsenal?

You though are free to maintain your optimism….

  77. Gonerjoe says:

Rico i think they are they will all but one Ramsey will be England players now and the future. Three already are also most of these players have spent a lot of time in the Arsenal youth system and Wenger and the coaches have had a large input to their development. Gibbs,Walcott,Ramsey and Wilshire are good enough to play for Arsenal.

  78. Adam says:

KJ. I am incredibly wealthy but still well behind Kev. 🙂
Let that Port come up to room temperature.

  79. rico says:

We differ Gjoe, I would have Gibbs, Ramsey and Walcott on the bench. Jenks and Jack would be starters…

That’s what makes football fun, we all see things differently and see things in players that maybe others don’t… 🙂

  80. Gonerjoe says:

It might just be wishful thinking on my part. On Gibbs I believe he is a very good left back and he is getting better and is first chose for Arsenal and will be first chose for England.

  81. rico says:

But sadly Gjoe, he’s another with injury probs. Which is I’m sure why we signed Monreal.

Great to finally have two really really good left backs though, it’s been a while….

  82. allezkev says:

I also have an interesting collection of fag-ends, or dog-ends, as we amusingly say in London.
Once I have sorted the tobacco from the tip, I then make a humungous spliff, and blow my brains out…

    It’s my party piece… 😀

  83. Rick says:

I think that in the last few years we should have been champions twice and should have won the Carling Cup. The reason that we didnot
(in my opinion ) is that we had too many losers in the team, and they were all foreign.
Since the introduction of the 25man rule most of the losers have been shown the door and the remainder will leave when their contracts run out in june
I beleive we are seeing the final phase of Arsens legacy to our great club but have I got it all wrong?

  84. allezkev says:

Rick, i’m not sure we can pin the blame on foreign players tbh…
The Invincibles were made up, mostly, of foreign players.

  85. rico says:

But we weren’t Champions Rick, were we?

We didn’t win the CC either.

I’m not I agree re the players who have been shown the door either, who has been sold since that rule came in. (Song for some I know)

Other than those we fans hoped we’d keep?

  86. rico says:

I’m good thanks Kev, E’enders has got so so boring… But Sharon is about to get married again 😉

  87. Gonerjoe says:

Rick I agree I also think the other 3 will be first choice for England in the future two already are and ox played and scored last night.

  88. Gonerjoe says:

Going back to my happy times for Arsenal there is only 3 big clubs in Europe who are not having problems with there debts and Arsenal is one of them. With the banks in the euro zone in trouble it’s people’s and counties that have to bale them out. Will not be happy having to bale out banks who are owed a lot of money by large football clubs which have made no effort to pay them off.

  89. rico says:

    Man Utd
    Man City
    Chelsea
    Dortmund
    Bayern

There are five Gjoe, I am sure there are more who aren’t struggling with debt….

  90. rico says:

Anyway, it’s Saturday night and I’m off to watch some good old rubbish on the television….

You all have a good evening and catch up soon…

    Night all….

  91. Gonerjoe says:

Utd and Bayern are the other two teams I was thinking of.Maybe I should have ruled out sugar daddy clubs if something happens to there benefactors and the money dries up they will be in big trouble very quick. As for Dortmund they are a great team at the moment who nearly went bankrupt but are they in the big club league I am not sure.
