Vermaelen ‘Setback’, Harry on a Wind Up and Ade won’t Celebrate…..

So, first off, Wenger confirmed what we all suspected would happen, and that is Thomas Vermaelen has a little setback and his returned will be delayed by one or two weeks – well, no surprise really eh, we all saw that one coming didn’t we?

In fact, I will be surprised if that turns out to be the only little setback he suffers…..

As the biggest fixture so far this season approaches, Harry Redcrapp has decided to speak out about his new on loan signing and our old boy, Adebayor.

Why?

As if a North London Derby needs the tension bar raised???

Well it doesn’t in my opinion but the old wheeler-dealer obviously believes it does so he’s commented about how he believes his striker will be the victim of abuse on Sunday.

You can’t react to that. He’s got to get on with it. Fans are entitled to give players all the stick in the world so long as it’s in the bounds of decency, I’m sure he won’t over-react again.

I think he apologised last time. He’s got a lot of respect for Arsenal still but he loves it here now, he’s a Tottenham player, I’ve never spoken to him about it. I hope he does score a couple of times. I hope he slides on his knees and celebrates.

I wonder if Arry wants him running the full length of the pitch to goad the Gooners – yeah, I bet he does too but that won’t happen, well, not according to Ade.

I’m looking forward to playing against Arsenal again on Sunday, but believe me, if I have a chance to score – trust me, I will score – but as for the celebration, never in my life will I do something like that again. It will be a funny game, it’ll be fantastic. I have a chance to play against Arsenal again, the club that gave me the chance to be where I am today. I have a huge respect for the club.

Well, all I will add is that it’s simple, don’t let Ade score then he cannot celebrate, don’t let the Totts score, then none of their players can celebrate – for fans that are there at S***e Lane, don’t bother jeering Ade, don’t give him the time of day – jeering, abusing will only spur him on, excuse the pun!

If you need to use your voice, do it in support of the team we all love, don’t waste it on the ones we don’t…..

Simples…..

Have  good day all, tomorrow will soon be here……

As I said on some blog before I more or less doubt we will see Vermalien before March/April and ditto with Jack.

  2. rico says:

    That soon eh TT 😉

Looks like Kos won’t be fit for tomorrow, i’m started to have a bit of a worry….

  3. TT says:

Well with 4 central defenders on the treatment table and he was not going to buy anyone for CB until he heard that TV was going to be out longer than he thought the self centered kvunt.

  4. rico says:

And hearing that self centred one has a job for life means things won’t change either…

yet again we all saw it coming but one man didn’t….

  5. goonster says:

Morning good people….I think I ll totally be an ass if I say”I told you so”. Wenger didn’t even want a CB he was looking at hazard and m’villa while the same defensive problems persist. A lot of gooners thought wenger got the BFG cause of the manure debacle…I say that’s wrong. He brought in mert cause he knew vermaelin would be out longer than we expected. Nothing surprises me anymore. Hope we smash the spuddies though. Can’t wait…COYGs.

  6. rico says:

    morning goonster and JM ..

Not a great match JM but for me, a great win 🙂

goonster, how many times did we say here, it’s ok to buy forwards but they won’t stop us conceding… Wenger hasn’t got a defensive bone in his body….

  7. allezkev says:

Don’t worry everyone. Squllaci will be back soon.
    Morning & good post Rico.
Doesn’t it make a pleasant change not to see the Press full of stupid pre-match comments & boasts from our manager & his often quite dumb players.
    Hope it continues.

  8. goonster says:

Hi guys….internet problem. Rico did you send your gnomes to come scupper my connections. Please call them off…am having a hard time here. Hi kev….how you doing my man?

  9. goonster says:

You know what the scary part is Rico.squilli will soon be fit in a matter of days and may stay that way the entire season while the others shuttle between the treatment table and the first team. Brace up guys you are about to see a whole lot of squid this season….boy am shivering at the thought of squilli lining up against stoke city. God help us.

  10. goonster says:

I see harry is stoking the flames, huh? I can see he’s overconfident. Well am sure the lads won’t let this one slip. Those mugs owe us a hiding and I say how about we dish it to them tomorrow. The nerve of some pundits….they think we are underdogs…oh well I just know it ll be their downfall. Come you gunners. Wipe the floor with the scums. Put them back where they belong….the floor.

  11. allezkev says:

Hi Stan. I’m good thanks, looking forward to going home Monday. How’s the nerves???
Rico i never want to see Squillaci ever again in our first team, sadly i suspect that he’ll turn up again.

  12. rico says:

You and me both AK, he can join The waiter at the hammers….

goonster, he’s certainly stoking the Ade flames….

  13. allezkev says:

Rico i completely agree with you. Our away fans need to ignore Adebayor, he’s just a sideshow. Take the piss if/when we win.

  14. goonster says:

You had better prepare for a long season kEv cause wenger ll field the squid very soon. And guess what he ll be available for selection the whole frigging season. Haven’t you noticed…players of his calibre are hardly ever injured. Am really scared you guys. The very thought of squilacci makes my skin crawl and my eyes twitch yet am not ‘arry.

  15. goonster says:

Cahill? Are you having a laugh kev? Please….its never gonna happen. Not on this side of judgment day it won’t. Besides the chavs want him. We missed out and by God I hope we don’t pay for it.

  16. rico says:

Should have done that in June AK 🙁 We talked about booing the oppo on here before, think we pretty much agreed that the booing will only spur a player like Ade on, give him nothing i say…

Gallas and Dawson are rumoured to be out tomorrow….

  17. goonster says:

Where did you hear that rico….gallas is definitely out but Dawson…I doubt it. But a guy can dream.*big smile*

  18. rico says:

Tottenham will recall their first-team regulars after they were rested for Thursday’s match with Shamrock Rovers.

William Gallas, Michael Dawson and Tom Huddlestone remain injured, but Steven Pienaar could make his season’s debut after overcoming a groin problem.

Theo Walcott is the most likely of Arsenal’s injured players to return for this game.

Gervinho, Laurent Koscielny and Yossi Benayoun will be assessed but defender Johan Djourou is out.

  19. goonster says:

I thought he played for them at the weekend i coulda swore I perceived his scummy breathe from afar….oh well good for us then. The twitch ll be forced to play kaboul in the middle….robin should be rubbing his hands in glee.

  20. goonster says:

Better still the scummy bad breathe coulda been ledley king’s. Have you seen that dude up close…..whoa. Talk about lippy lips.

  21. rico says:

We’ll see goonster, I worry more about our defence than theirs, i’m hoping that Kos will be a nice surprise and him,Theo & Gervinho all start.

King and Kaboul, Theo should play in the middle and do them with his pace… Friedel in goal i think too….

  22. goonster says:

Rico after seeing song mid week I ll prefer him to play in the defence to curb adebayors forays. Kos won’t be able to handle him.

  23. rico says:

Merts will eat him alive 😉 Defoe is the little s**t we can’t lose sight of… It’s not all about one man, stop him before he starts….

  24. EastSidePaul says:

There we go, I should be offered a place on the Arsenal medical staff, if I remember I said he would have a “set back” about two weeks ago.

    look this is ridiculous….

  25. rico says:

Hi ESP, sometimes it’s horrid being right…

It is ridiculous – wonder if this announcement is to ensure he stays away from the internationals – TV has denied the rumour on twitter i think…

  26. rico says:

TV has his sights set on a return to action in mid-October, but it was reported that he had not made as much progress as doctors had hoped.

Vermaelen responded to the stories by issuing a health bulletin to his 129,000 Twitter followers.

‘Unlike what I am reading in several media today: I do not have a setback at all! On the contrary, I am exactly on track for a full recovery,’ the 25-year-old tweeted.

  27. goonster says:

Poor fella…..we really did him in. I fear for wilshere too. Playing youngsters too early ruin them. Especially in a league like the premier league. Hope he recovers though. He’s still one of my favorite gunner of all time.

  28. rico says:

think so, or torn muscle – always bought him back too early, just like we do with so many others, why, because the tight old lot don’t buy enough quality….

  29. goonster says:

Is the vermaelin story true….I saw a tweet where he denies suffering a set back. Some times these tweets are false. Hope its true we ve really missed him.

  30. Joaquim Moreira says:

Allez, rugby is popular here in Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra. We have been in last world Championship. In this one, we have beaten by Russia in the last game.
We have also women rugby, beach rugby and rugby of seventh.
Gallas is out for tomorrow, Defoe was playing in the League cup.
Kos is probably out. Walcott maybe. Gervinho problematic. Squil on the bench.

  31. goonster says:

Jm please stop scaring me….gervinho problematic? Walcott maybe? Squili on the bench? Lord give me strength.

  32. goonster says:

Rico I ll rather gervinho than walcott…..I know he’s just playing mind games. I wouldn’t be surprised to see all three line up for us tomorrow.

  33. EastSidePaul says:

Wait Fabregas has an actual “real” injury?!

I think we should all send in CVs to replace arsenals current medical team, I mean if the medical team even just read this blog from time to time they would know TV was going to hit a set back and done something about it.

If TV hits another set back after this, its time to move him on, the last thing we need is to be waiting on a Rosicky to come back to fix our defensive problems…

  34. goonster says:

My line up ll be zzzz sagna mert song gibbs frimp ateta ramsey walcott RVP gervinho/AOC but we know wenger ll probably play arshavin.

  35. rico says:

Wenger on playing Alex Song in defence…

Squillaci will not be fit enough to start the game. If I am tempted I can answer honestly ‘yes’. Will I do it? Honestly I don’t know yet.

    Sorry goonster….

  36. Micko says:

If I had the wings of a sparrow, if I had the arse of a crow, I’d fly over tottenham tomorrow and shit on the bastards below…………..
Giving players stick is all part of the banter during a game, our away support will let Ade know what we think of him tomorrow and rightly so, I don’t have a problem with that, he could just as easily go on to have a stinker.
    C’mon Arsenal.

  37. Joaquim Moreira says:

goonster: Gervinho nd Walcott are in doubt but Gervinho has a muscular problem (I don’t know exactly what it is, because a regular muscular problem the player must have 3 weeks off) and walccot has a knee problem (I don’t know the extension too). Kos is definetely out. Squil is not fit for a full game but we must have a central back on th bench.
The referee help Liverpool to won again. Liverpool and MU always playing with one more in the field…

  38. goonster says:

Yeah I saw it JM….liverpool and manure are cheats and their fans know it. They just don’t wanna admit it.

  39. Micko says:

ESP, wenger came out on sky earlier this week and said no blame should be attached to the medical team and that they couldn’t have done anything differently, Arsene knows ! or is it Arsene used to know.

  40. Micko says:

You know your up the creek without a paddle when your only 6 games into a season and you have to start playing your holding midfielder in defence, comes back to the depth of the squad.

  41. Micko says:

I dunno rico, he did have a purple patch a while back, he was ahead of his time but the world has caught up with him these days.

  42. rico says:

You sure do Micko, just why Cahill was much needed….

Yep, he was good, very good – i don’t know what has changed him….

  43. rico says:

My theory is, his success was a lot to do with the defencsive unit he inherited – they were the best for country for miles then and as they departed/retired, apart from Sol, who did he really buy that we can say is top notch…. centrally i mean…

  44. Micko says:

Besides stepanov’s, you’ve got me there.
He’s probably up there with the best over the years when it comes to spotting attacking players but the same can’t be said for defenders.
Still, whats the rush he got the rest of his life to sort it out with us after all.

  45. rico says:

    Oh dear 🙁

Still, the best game of the weekend is tomorrow and that’s the only one that matters 🙂

  46. Micko says:

Win tomorrow and we’ll shoot right up the table, lose and we’ll all be in the doldrums for the next couple of weeks with the international break, gotta keep everything crossed.

  47. rico says:

    🙁 JM

Too true Micko, a win is massive because it’s them…… but, we need to creep up the table….. A loss is not to be given thought about….

  48. rico says:

I have friends for dinner so I’m off for the day guys, cooking to be doing… Might pop on later if anyone is around, otherwise, see you all on NLD Day…..

Be good and have a lovely evening….

  49. allezkev says:

Don’t wanna see Arshavin or Rosicky in the starting XI tomorrow.
The Scummers is not a game where we can afford to carry passengers.

  50. allezkev says:

I’d like to see Wenger try something radical, unlikely i know but i can wish.
    Therefore i’d like to see a 4 4 2 line-up.
Of course it would depend on fitness, but my starting XI would be ; WS. BS AS PM KG. FC MA AR YB. TW RVP.
