Unai Emery’s best day at Arsenal?

Only a few days ago did I write the words spoken by our very own Vinai Venkatesham about how the club would look after all its ‘support staff’ through this time of financial uncertainty. As yet, there’s been no announcement about players taking any kind of pay cut either. Should they be required to do so in the near future, I hope they don’t put up any kind resistance against it. After all, we’re talking months here, not years and years. Mind you, they could cope for a few years I’m sure.

The picture at the top of this article shows that most of the Premier League clubs are doing the same as Arsenal by paying their support staff. A few are yet to make a decision, or haven’t felt the need to publish their intentions but one, only one has shown their lack of care, consideration and respect for those who work behind the scenes. Yep, that lot down the road. So not only will they take an 20% pay cut, but they’ll have to wait weeks, perhaps months for their payout from the UK government. What a classless club they are. Before anyone thinks I care about what Toots get up to, these are human beings with a family to care/provide for.

Anyway, talking of that lot, here’s a clip of us beating them in 2018. One of Unai Emery’s better days as Arsenal manager.

Stay safe guys and stay healthy.

    Good morning Rico and all.

As a foot note to my comment, yesterday about the spuds, their accounts for last year show Daniel Levy’s salary and bonuses amounted to £7 million. One million of which was a bonus paid for the completion of The New Swamp, even though it came in six months overdue and grossly over budget. That bonus would make up the pay for those unfortunate five hundred and fifity mostly fairly low paid workers, forced to take a 20% pay cut.

I do miss a social beer with the mates, though.

Don’t we all Scott. Maybe we need a virtual pub .

A little light relief…….I was in ASDA with the missus and put a case of Stella in the trolley “what are you doing?” asked the missus “it’s on offer, 24 cans for ten quid” I said. “put em back we can’t afford them” she said. I few aisles later she put a twenty quid jar of face cream in the trolley, “what are you doing?” I asked. “it makes my face look beautiful” she said. “So does twenty cans of Stella” I answered, “and it’s cheaper”.

Potter, if it comes with the taste, coins my in mate hahahaha
Rico, initially, I felt you were being a little harsh on the Spuds, thinking about the fact they’ve just moved to the new stadium and all that comes with it but you’re 100% right, Levy cops his whack plus bonus and there’s no way he will be taking a pay cut!!!
A little like our politicians right now I guess.

How about this, between us we choose a time, early evening here, at which we all raise a glass of our favourite tipple to the Toast of the Day.

Suggestions for TotD to be posted and the winner selected and announced by Rico.

I commend the idea to The (Highbury) House. 😉

Morning Cicero, I like that Asda joke. Just what we need to brighten the day. The joke I mean, not the Stella. 😆

Yes Scott, I could have added the Levy bonus he took but I had to leave you guys with something to add. Lol

I confess to being little choked up, my thirteen-year-old granddaughter just cycled up through the village and left a small package on our doorstep, she stepped back into the lane and phoned us to say it was there. When we went to the door, she said she hoped the contents would help to keep us safe. It was two face masks that she had made, my wife’s with red roses on mine with red and white stripes.

We intend wearing them, proudly, next time we go shopping.

    From the BBC

London’s top football clubs have been asked to help support the National Health Service through the coronavirus crisis, by the city’s mayor Sadiq Khan.

The services of team doctors, physiotherapists, paramedics and club facilities are needed.

Khan has written to Premier League sides Arsenal, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and West Ham, as well as Brentford, Charlton, Fulham, Millwall and QPR.

“I’m grateful for the hugely positive response we have received,” said Khan.

“I have outlined what they can do to help our fantastic NHS.

“As we work together to tackle coronavirus, the community spirit of London’s football clubs has shone through.”

As well as providing skilled staff and stadium facilities, clubs have been asked to help with creating accommodation for NHS staff working away from self-isolating families so they can continue to work.

Care workers also require lodgings in order to stay close to makeshift field hospitals in London.

Tottenham are already helping, while Watford are outside of Greater London.

    Morning all.
Kev/Rico, let our medical staff at them and the people will be incapable of heading out 🙂 🙂
    Geoff,
That particular Dog is racing in Brisbane and I live just north of Sydney so haven’t see her yet.
Nobody is allowed to the races bar trainers and handlers, and we are yet to have a single participant test positive at this stage so fingers crossed it remains that way.

Interesting to see how reluctant the WHO are to discuss Taiwan and its success with containing the virus, are the WHO in the pocket of the Chinese government?

  13. Aussie Geoff says:

Rico you cheeky bugger picking on our medical staff lets face it we are all happy to support them when they leave and start working at another club. Ha Ha Ha
