Two years for Wilshere. It’ll hurt but you have to do it….

Morning all.

Big match at WHL this afternoon, one which if it goes the right way could seriously help us secure second place. I won’t be cheering the noisy neighbours on loudly hoping they win but I sure hope they don’t lose. We are level on points with City in second place with a game in hand but any help we can get from those around us would be most welcome. But of course, for us it’s simple, win our remaining matches and we’ll get second place.

West Brom did us a favour yesterday evening by brushing aside a Utd side with ease. Well, 1-0 and a penalty miss from RvP – how sweet was that eh….. That result keeps us two points ahead of them with two games in hand but we still have to go to the Old Toilet.

Jack Wilshere. There’s a few quotes from the manager about him in the newspapers this morning:

Jack needs competition. He has been out for a while and is just coming back and this week was the first week he is sharp again.

He now needs one or two years without problems to really get the full confidence and belief back.

I don’t see why it shouldn’t happen, but players are always ready when they come back from injury. But it takes much longer than they think to get sharp again.

This time last year Jack was in a similar situation to what he’s in now. Returning from injury but not playing and with the World Cup around the corner he was desperate to be selected for England. The FA Cup final was also a match he was desperate to play in but only managed to get onto the Wembley pitch in the 105th minute of the game when he and Rosicky gave the team fresh legs which helped Ramsey fire home our winner but will he be part of this seasons side?

Wenger was asked that very question and apparently he replied:

Hull are my worry at the moment, I don’t care about the FA Cup right now.

He’ll worry about all right when the time comes, Aston Villa are in fine form and Benteke can’t stop scoring….

But he’s right, the FA Cup fixture will go ahead when the time comes but right now we have five league fixtures to concentrate on and the first is tomorrow night.

Gossip pages:

Barcelona are plotting a move to take Hector Bellerin back to Spain. Well they can plot all they like really as he’s ours for a while yet and in any case, why would he want to move when Arsenal are on the up… And of course, they are in the naughty corner and aren’t allowed to sign anyone until January 2016.

Arsene Wenger has again told the media that Jack Wilshere will not be sold to Man City this summer. That’s in The Mail on Sunday and the same paper suggests that Arsenal will sign Petr Cech at the end of the season IF the player wants to move across London.

Well done to Bournemouth for winning the Championship title and getting into the Premier League and to Watford who also secured promotion.

That’s twelve points in the bag then…… 😉

Finally, Rest In Peace Rebecca Ellison who lost her battle with Cancer yesterday aged just 34.

My thoughts and prayers are with your husband Rio, your three young children and the rest of your family and other loved ones who will miss you dreadfully…

That’s it for Sunday……

    Bang.

Condolences to Rio Ferdinand and his family.

I want the spuddies to win. They will not overtake us and its paramount that shitty will loose today.

    bdw…nice post boss

  2. rico says:

On a serious note, with four games to go for most sides, the title possibly being over today is something that needs to change next season. We need 2/3 strong signings in the summer and start the season a lot better than we did this one.

Getting 2nd or even 3rd will do us so much good. CL secured, no early qualifier and then really push hard for the PL title…

  3. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

My sincerest condolences to Rio Ferdinand and his family. This hits a little close to home as Rebecca was only a few years older than my eldest.

Rico- Another good article, but from past experience we can NOT depend on the noisy neighbours down the road to do us any favours. We have been here before and, as usual, they did not oblige.

Finishing second and with ManUre, and the Dippers, two of our closest rivals, shrinking quickly in the rear view mirror only bodes well for us in the summer transfer window. If either or both miss out on the Champions league they will have to pay over the odds in wages to attract top players.

  4. rico says:

    Morning Cg, thanks.

The good thing is though that the neighbours still have an outside chance of getting 4th place. They should be up for this game in front of their own fans. Fingers crossed they get the win and then should we go on to get 2nd, we can thank them loudly… 😉

  5. rico says:

I’d love both Manchester sides to miss out on top four, but then I’d also love the Totts and Dippers to miss out too.

  6. scottfromoz says:

    Rico,
We WILL be winning the League next season.
I always joke and show positivity, but this is something ill put plenty on.
    The signings required will come.
    The medical staff have improved.
    We will do it.

  7. tsgh says:

    Good read Rico.
Scott-I didn’t pay for ppv for the first time…

I would rather donate the £20 to charity (Nepal, Syria) than add to some sportsman’s coffers so he can flaunt

  8. Canadian Gooner says:

Scott – I agree with your sentiment, but there is no need to get your knickers in a twist. Hector seems to be a level headed young man and I’m sure he is well aware of recent history with Cesc. The road back to Barcelona is not paved with gold.

Rico – I wont cheer them loudly, but I might just whisper a very quiet thank you under my breath.

  9. rico says:

You can’t say that for sure Scott. As much as we have improved, I bet both Mancs buy big again and no doubt the dwarf will try and sign any player who looks like he’s Arsenal bound..

But I do think if we get 2nd/3rd we’ll get any transfers done very early…

    Thanks Ts.

  10. rico says:

Cg, why, if they help us secure second, their fans will be gutted. Milk it I say especially if they end up playing Thursday and Sunday again…. lol

  11. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – I can see your point there, but it just goes against the grain to cheer for or thank the Totts, even if was very tongue in cheek.

  12. scottfromoz says:

Ginge, I didn’t pay for the fight.
I went to our local with a few of the lads I coach…..game was called odd again today.
The money these guys earn is ludicrous, especially when Floyd the “legend” spent 12 rounds running from a right lol.
Rico, the spending of Chelksi is over.
Look at their spending last season….they sold before they could spend.
    That will continue.
Yes, they can do the same thing, but they will never improve much.
CG, I’m happy that Hector has learned from the woes of Cesc.

  13. rico says:

I like to think it’s rubbing their noses in it Cg. But I get your point, giving them any kind of praise doesn’t sit well does it…

  14. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – There have been a number of articles in the ‘ever reliable’ LOL commercial media that a number of the proposed big deals for ManUre and also Chelski do or may involve player sales/swaps (e.g. De Gea and cash for Bale). As usual My Lady the normal disclaimers apply – any semblance to the truth is purely coincidental and controversial fantasy or outright lias sells papers and/or increases site hits.

They’ve seen what happened to Barca and wont want to run afoul of FFP. Also, I’m sure some of ManUre’s big sponsorship deals (e.g. adidas) have performance clauses. If they miss out on Europe, that could put a major crimp in their income, far less the loss of UCL appearance and performance fees.

  15. rico says:

Scott, selling before buying is probably the same for most clubs nowadays because of FFP but we know that whoever Chelsea sign will be replaced with better.

We have to do the same if we are to win the league, although I think we still have a lot of money in the bank which is a good job because those we have who could be sold aren’t going to bring in a lot of money. imo of course. Theo perhaps would be the biggest fee but I think he’ll stay put.

As far as the squad goes though, this summer we should lose Diaby and Flamini before anyone else leaves so that straight away means there are two places spare to be filled in the squad..

  16. Wath says:

If i had the wings of an eagle……………………
If i had the arse of a crow……………..

    Enough said…!

Can’t ever be wishing for the swampies to win Rico, a draw is more than enough to wish for and we all know they will fail because they are shit…!

    Morning 🙂

  17. rico says:

Cg – I read those too and smiled inwardly whilst hoping of course there is little truth in the stories. Although I’d gladly see the back of De Gea, the thought of Bale up there is quite a worry…

But, I do think as long as Arsenal make the right signings, it will matter little what other clubs do..

Barca didn’t fall foul of FFP did they, wasn’t their ban something to do with signing younger players?

  18. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – Yes, I believe you are correct about Barca’s player trading ban resulting from irregularities in young player acquisitions rather than FFP.

  19. rico says:

Will be interesting to see what happens when clubs get stiffer penalties for breaching FFP, not much chance of us ever being one of them… lol

  20. potter says:

According to Untold it was close to child trafficking. Apparently bringing kids from abroad to La masia getting their parents temporary work and ditching them with nothing when it didn’t work out.

  21. rico says:

That was a special day Devil..

    Serves Barca right then Potter..

Funny how it’s the face of Fabregas that is popping up in all the Chav interviews this morning. I’d love it if Palace beat them today and then the Chavs lose all their remaining games…

  22. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – It took me 6 or 7 attempts to re-establish a link with the House.

    If this article is to be believed???? this could be one of the most interesting and cut-throat transfer windows. Even the mighty Real Madrid may have to sell before or swap to make some of their largest player acquisitions;

    http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/438997/Bale-Hazard-swap-Chelsea-Real-Man-Utd

It seems that FFP may finally be leveling the playing field. It’s great that Arsenal FC have plenty of money in the bank and finally seem willing to spend it.

NOTE: Arsenal supporters should NOT hold their breath while waiting for this to happen, if and when it ever does.

  23. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – ” ..I’d love it if Palace beat them today and then the Chavs lose all their remaining games…” We can all dream. However, please see the NOTE in my previous post.

  24. Canadian Gooner says:

Well the game at Shite Heart Lane kicks off in three hours. I’m off to bed to catch a few hours kip before it does.

Have a great day everyone. Keep The Faith!

  25. Wath says:

Rico, it’s fly over Totnum tomorrow… No mention of WHL….! Hence the words are easy…! Must I teach you everything…!?!?

  26. tsgh says:

    Night Cg…

The way Barca managed to wiggle out of the Neymar-gate says all about UEFA and their lack of bottle…

  27. Wath says:

Ts, when it comes to RM, Barca n Bayern M Uefa are full of shit and do nothing…! To scared to upset the big boys..! They always always cow down and back out of so called bans on this and that…! Hot air only..!

  28. goonster says:

Like I said yesterday I ll hate to see wilshere smash it in shitty’s colors. there’s a player in there somewhere. He just needs to stay injury free and then watch him rip it. People tend to forget jack wilshere was way ahead of ramsey until he got injured. He was once on pep”s radar as a replacement for xavi. Jack is class. end of.

  29. potter says:

Another Hazard dive and a goal from the rebound. I wonder how long we will have to listen to reports of the Pires dive all those years ago.

  30. goonster says:

Oh dear shitty looks vulnerable with that suicidal high line. They ll be smashed if they persist with this.

  31. tsgh says:

    Well said Wath…
Hey goonie.Fc Hollywood lost 2-0 to b04 yesterday.
    Best bit…Rodgers out Rafael In…
    It was written…

  32. goonster says:

Shitty is all over the place. No leaders no cojones. I sense fear in their ranks. Lol shitty afraid of totscum?? Now that’s the sign of the apocalypse 😀

  33. goonster says:

Mangala is laughable…..hhahahahahahahah. how much did he cost again?? Hey WATH is Mangala big enough for you 😀

  34. goonster says:

Hahahahahahhaha shite far lane has gone quiet. what a shit stadium filled with shitcoonts and they play shit football. Remind why we re rivals again?? FOYS hahahahahahahahha

  35. goonster says:

Nope I hope they get smashed. 2nd or third doesn’t really matter to me but watching the spuds squirm ll be part of the highlights of this season. FOYS hahahahahahaha

  36. Joe says:

Typical spuds they play a game you wouldn’t mind them winning and as usual they don’t or won’t.

  37. goonster says:

Joe I was going to incorporate that. He’s a selfish turd. Could have squared it to a fellow turd but opts for glory. I guess that’s why we sold him 😀

  38. eduardo says:

goonster they are not rivals, they are neighbors, 19 years finishing below us means they are not rivals

  39. goonster says:

Eduardo I was just making a joke of course I know we re not rivals. Forever in our shadows. 50 years and counting. Lol

  40. eduardo says:

st totteringham day with five games to spare. So much for the power shift in North London

One win needed for top 4, and 7pts for top 3

  41. Potter says:

4 goals tomorrow makes us level goal difference with a game in hand. No doubt we will get 2 up and pass them to death. Let 1 in and hang on for dear life

  42. eduardo says:

    city have QPR(H), Swansea (A), Southampton (H)
utd have Crystal Palace (A), Arsenal (H), Hull(A)
Arsenal have Hull (A), Swansea (H), Man Utd (A), Sunderland (H), West Brom (H)

  43. Micko says:

Can understand why they don’t make St.Totteringham’s Day a Bank Holiday now, what’s the point if it keeps clashing with the May Day weekend !

    Up the Gooners.

  44. rico says:

Lee. 1055am – said the same. Chavs winning the league with four games to go stinks. We have to make sure that doesn’t happen next season….

  45. Micko says:

rico, pretty sure I said it to you last season, when was the last time we were still in with a chance of winning the league with 3 games to go…….long long time ago.

  46. rico says:

Me too Adam… Get 2nd or 3rd, tbh I don’t really care which because it matters not. Early signings and get off to a great start….

  47. Micko says:

Lee, I suppose your always gonna get the occasional floater, in this case Man United lol.

  48. Lee says:

All our immediate competitors will strengthen, we need to add some more quality to be in with a shout. Sort out the injury situation and also I think Wenger has to make some big decisions about some of the squad.

  49. Lee says:

2nd or 3rd and the FA Cup will be progress ( I think Villa will be a tough nut to crack btw) but the PL is what we should be winning!!

  50. Wath says:

    There’s a surprise the yids were shit….!

If you want something done properly do it yourself, we win the games we have left job done…!

  51. Wath says:

Tell you what Lee you aint wrong there mate… Aguerro all day long…! proper player…!

  52. rico says:

Now that’s a deal I’d welcome with open arms… Aguero is just the kind of player we need to beat the bus..

  53. Lee says:

I still agree with TH….. Ollie should be our plan B) or Sanogo if he’s down his round!!!! 😉

  54. rico says:

    Darn storm….

Plan b for Ollie I agree, but I don’t think he’s that bad.bhis goals have been crucial and to think he missed four months.. But he isn’t quick enough for some matches…

Tough call re Walcott. He can go IF a top notch winger replaces him Lee…

  55. allezkev says:

Typical Spuds, absolute , total shit…

Boring Boring Chelsea won the EPL via a penalty.

    Need I say more…

    Fcuking shit club…

  56. allezkev says:

    Here’s one for you Rick, from the Rotherham manager Steve Evans;

Evans said: “I think he’s been great for us. We’re going to be watching Emi on Match of the Day in six to eight months and then for a number of years as Arsenal’s number one. I know for a fact he has a couple of clubs in the top division in Spain wanting to take him on season-long loans. It wouldn’t surprise me then that if we’re not seeing him in the Premier League we’ll be seeing him against Barcelona and Real Madrid. That’s how well he’s regarded.”

  57. allezkev says:

Rick, the above was about Emiliano Martinez…

Also gonna be interesting to see how Jack Jebb (Stevenage) and Jon Toral (Brentford) get on in the play-offs…
