Two strikers in one summer Arsene, wow! Arsenal need to be more like England & Giroud lets the cat out the bag.

Morning all.

So I’ve gone from thinking is Vardy really the best Arsenal could get this summer, to believing that yes, perhaps he is. Certainly for just £20 million, a figure which would have been £30 million had we not qualified for the Champions League. So when the stories come out about Utd and Liverpool passing up on the striker being the only reason we have been able to go for him, it’s rubbish. Champions League football wins the day – again.

Ollie let it slip last night that Vardy really does want to move to North London:

I have been told that Jamie wants to join us and it’s very good news for us. I think we can be complimentary and that’s all I can say.

He’s a fantastic player, so it’s good news for us.

I think he’s right too, Vardy is a really good player, one who has everything Ollie doesn’t. Speed, power and a nose for goal and that’s not me knocking Ollie, I’m simply saying Arsenal need speed up front and the Englishman has oodles of that. Apparently Vardy will undergo a medical today and if all goes well as it should, our new number 9 could be announced real soon.

It’s not only the men who are involved in a European campaign this summer as the women too are fighting it out for a place place in next summers big competition and last night, England battered a really poor Serbia side 7-0, a scoreline seldom witnessed in football these days and certainly not in the Premier League. I don’t think even Aston Villa, who were dreadful last season, suffered such a hefty defeat. Arsenal did though a few years back and other horrid defeats too but hopefully, stuff like that is never to be repeated and there’s no reason why it should be, not if Arsene Wenger continues to build a strong defence and midfield.

But wouldn’t it be good if Arsenal could be more like the England women and by that I mean defeat sides more convincingly and looking back at the Southampton game at home last season alone, we really should be. What was it, 22 shots on goal without scoring? Something like that anyway which is appalling, it really is. No doubt that’s why Arsene Wenger is going for Vardy because he shoots and more often than not, he scores.

But does this mean the Frenchman is ready to change his approach I wonder. Is he going to be bold and play two strikers as Leicester did for much of the season? Is he going to surrender possession for the greater good by hitting the opposition on the break, which again was similar to what the league champions did last season? Is he finally going to wave goodbye to the boring tippy tappy, backwards and sideways moving of the ball in and around the penalty box which a ten man defence, who have had the time in the world to get back, will just laugh at and nullify any final move with ease?

I don’t know the answers but at least if Vardy does complete his medical and sign for Arsenal today, the likes of Ozil and Xhaka know they have someone to find with their sweet left foot passes. Someone who is lightening quick and knows where the back of the net is…..

So yes, I’m now convinced. Vardy for £20 million could just turn out to be a real bargain…..

Oh, and if he does sign, Gary Lineker will be well cheesed off so that would make the deal even sweeter…

Other transfer gossip:

According to reports, Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Hoffenheim centre forward Antonio Colak, who spent last season on loan at second division side FC Kaiserslautern. He’s 22 years old, Croatian and that’s all I know.

The Sun: Arsenal and Chelsea are set go head-to-head for the signature of Armenia international Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The 27-year-old has just one year left on his Borussia Dortmund contract and is currently assessing his options after big name players Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan agreed deals to leave the German club.

Mkhitaryan would prefer to join Arsenal instead of Chelsea says the report.

Mkhitaryan has just enjoyed a superb season for Dortmund, scoring 23 goals and notching an astonishing 32 assists in 52 appearances.

Have a great Sunday, at least the sun is trying to shine brightly….

Dortmund have a knack of buying the players I wish Arsene had gone for …………………Aubamayang and Mkhitaryan are two I wanted before they were snapped up!………………………I hope the Mkhitaryan rumour is true, maybe Goonster can ask his source !
Vardy has one trait that I want in any Arsenal player…………….he works his socks off !…………10 players who work their socks off will always beat 10 Arshavin`s.
Get 10 skillful players who work their socks off and are bastards to boot and I will give you a Premier league winning Bastardball team !

  3. Malaga gooner says:

I think winger will finally go for it in the transfer market

Vardy en route for Arsenal medical. Final part should be around 2pm. Will keep updated.

I’ve even started using Twitter again!

  6. goonster says:

Gibbs could be off to the merseyside. I ll hate to see him go. One of my favorite arsenal player. Rarely moans when he don’t play and a local lad even though he joined from Wimbledon(did he) but he’s got to do what is right for his career.

  7. goonster says:

Andrew my source told me about it even before it broke. WATH scoffed at it now it’s happening. Vardy in mkhitaryan next. Come on arsene ? all ll be forgiven.

  8. goonster says:

Adam I won’t too but he’s got to do what’s right for his career. I ll sell him to Sunderland instead if I have my way. Lol

  9. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

I see Stan the Blonde Adonis is still on the high from yesterday. What a change from the nervous wreck he was this time last year and the transfer window isn’t even open yet.

  10. andrewh1313 says:

    @Stan
I’m sharing your enthusiasm, just don’t want to be burnt!

    @Joe
Never heard of him till yesterday, but he was quoted by several others, an ex agent close to Ars and Spud players apparently.

  11. goonster says:

Where’s kev have you seen vardy yet??? I want to see him in an arsenal shirt so bad. Folks ll be wondering why am happy I ll tell you why. When was the last time we bought English and when I mean English I mean one at his peak? Plus this guy is a bastard what we ve lacked in a while. Not only that but I ll love an English accent available when we arguing with the ref with the opposition players. For so long we ve had French German and a few Spaniards. We need an English accent in there especially one from the north. I heard there are all bastard up north. Rooney Gerard and of course “the true geordie ” Springs to mind. We need to start influencing the refs too. Come on you gunners ??????

  12. goonster says:

Howdy CG am on a major high right now. Am buying his shirt. Once it’s been announced. Jamie vardy that is. Ooh vardy is a gooner. Oooh vardy is a gooner. Oooh vardy is a gooner. Oooh vardy is a gooner. Oooh vardy is a gooner. Oooh vardy is a gooner ????????????

  13. Adam says:

Rico. I mentioned the other day that I have seen him on perhaps 7 or 8 occasions and never seen him do anything except fall over and give the ball away after embarking on an over ambitious dribble. He might be great but you know how it is, sometimes you just can’t see what all the fuss is about. Just unlucky I suppose.
    Where would he play?

  14. goonster says:

Really adam??? Where ll MK play??? Jeez Luis. He can play anywhere Adam. That’s the beauty of having a versatile player. He can play on the right, left or through the middle when we need to give ozil a break. Look Adam MK is the shit. Take it from a dortmund fan ? rico hates it when me and ts go all dortmund on here. Lol. MK is the shit Adam. If it happens we ve landed a new Robert Pires. Take it from me.

  15. Al the Gooner says:

Where are you getting your numbers on Mkhitaryan? According to ESPN he played in 54 games for Dortmund (49 starts). scored 18 goals with 24 assists. And no international games. Still bloody good but not the out of this world numbers you have.

  16. Le Coq Monster says:

Same kit….away kit yellow and blue…… sponsored by PUMA…… Highbury Stadium…..I shall make Fleetwood Town my little team in the lower leagues !.

  17. allezkev says:

What’s happened to Mario Gotze, scored the winner in the WC final, Wenger really wanted him from Dortmund, he goes to Bayern and falls off of the edge of the world, even Liverpool aren’t interested it seems..?

And Draxler, we don’t hear about that wunderkinder anymore.

  18. obi says:

It’s funny how many Arsenal fans are. Now Vardy is too old but some of the same fans wanted Zlatan at 35 y.o. and were the same fans that killed AW for selling an injury prone RVP at 28. Vardy is a bastard but they complain that the team is too soft/ nice. Vardy is a short term solution but don’t want AW buying kids. Wow! Football is a short term solution, 1 game at a time. The team is lazy, but he goes out and get a worker and they complain about the style of play. I have been as disappointed in AW as much as anyone, but give him credit, 2 great singing so far. Football skills aside, about time we got players that will kick the $h#t out of some1.

  19. obi says:

AW is finally moving away from being predictable. Now it is much easier to play 2 upfront with the combination of the midfielders, Elneny/ Xhaxa/ Coq, who will not be run over on counter attacks. Plus Sanchez, Vardy n even OG all track back. We get a CB, Mkhitaryan plus the bench we have right now – JW, Ramsey,Theo Gibbs, Iwobi, Campbell, Per r all coming of the bench – and we will have something special: EPL Winners.

  20. goonster says:

Obi spot on my friend. He just can’t win with some people and am vehemently wenger out but even if can see the brand of football we ll play next term ll be exhilarating. Here’s hoping we get mkhitaryan too I ll literally blow my load ????

  21. Wavy says:

Yukky poos Goonie! And on line too!

Arsenal.com will inform us all, or not! Has he had his medical yet?

  22. obi says:

Goonster am with u @3:10, nothing gets me more tight than sitting for 75 minutes before we get a short on goal… Really this is Arsenal? I bet you Vardy will shot.

  23. andrewh1313 says:

My new best mate! Like what he says, just hope its not a pile of doo!!!

    Ben Fairthorne ‏@BFairthorne 50m
Was waiting for agent conformation. Vardy has passed his Arsenal medical, contract to be signed tomorrow, officially announced by Wednesday.

Ben Fairthorne ‏@BFairthorne 33m minutes ago
A few whispers that Vardy might not be the only business Arsenal do with Leicester this window. Watch this space…

  24. andrewh1313 says:

Is Fairthorne Goonster in disguise? 😉

Ben Fairthorne ‏@BFairthorne 17 minutes ago
I’ve been critical of Wenger over last few years, but Xhaka and Vardy pre window opening is serious intent. At least 2 more signings to come

  25. andrewh1313 says:

Either would be great rico! Mahrez I guess as a midfielder with assists and goals. It could mean business the other way round of course. Personally I would pay £15m plus Walcott for Mahrez

  26. goonster says:

I love mahrez. He’s premier League proven and was in fire last season plus he really is a super player but if I have to choose between mahrez and mkhitaryan I ll go with the latter. When a player like MK becomes available. You do all you can to get him especially if he really wants to play for you. MK over mahrez Andrew. Man this window just keeps getting better and better. Someone shoot me please. This might be a very bad dream. I might wake-up tomorrow and we signed umbongo kunta kinte and shinji ikizaku. Lol

  27. goonster says:

Kante xhaka and ozil ll be the best midfield in Europe if we can pull it off. Wow xhaka’s ability on the ball kante’s tenacity and energy levels plus ozil’s eye for a pass. Lord God in heaven make it so. Kante please i ll pass over mahrez to get kante ????

  28. rico says:

Me too Andrew, but I bet Walcott is at Arsenal next season. He’ll really need to up his game if he is though…

  29. Adam says:

It’s a bit too hot for me Rico. I went to what is misleadingly called a Farmer’s Market this morning and am kicking back this afternoon contemplating Jamie Vardy.

  30. rico says:

Oops, I thought she was from the States Adam, but tbh, only heard her today for the first time..

Yes, that’s the one, her voice is incredible…

  31. obi says:

I really don’t think Kante is that much better than Coq he just had a good season. So if it is between him and Mahrez is an easy decision but it is even easier if it is between Mahrez n Mkhitaryan, HM all day, this guy is very special. The best thing ever happened to Theo is not making the Euro, now he knows he is cap and needs to work on his game.

  32. obi says:

Get HM and Arsenals days of kicking free kick into the wall is over, sure Mahrez is excellent on dead balls but this guy Mkhitaryan dead balls alone is worth the 20m fee. And yet again another worker.

  33. Joe says:

So here we go again two full days of Arsenal have agreed to sign Vardy now the media will pull the old switch around.?
Not enough money in wages or Arsenal will try to get him on the cheap by not paying the full release clause. ?
Goonster will be beside himself ?

  34. obi says:

From ESPN FC yesterday, apparently it was Vardy peoples/ agent who reached out to Arsenal that they want to leave LC. AW then met with Vardy 2 Fridays ago. Ironically he’s also Theo’s agent. I guess that what 140k pw gets you, an inside man.

  35. allezkev says:

Not sure Rico, I’ve read we’re after a Croatian forward, but I’d like us to go for Mahrez if poss…

  36. allezkev says:

    What a beautiful day…

I’ve been sinking a few glasses of white wine outside my local…

So if you all excuse me, I have another bottle to deal with ?

  37. Le Coq Monster says:

I`ve come in to get out of the heat for a sec`……………….just spent a few hours in my Parrott Smugglers on the ride on mower cutting a 2 acre paddock whilst the bastards…sorry, wife`s horses are eating another paddock……wish someone would rustle them !.

I can hear you thinking….”Parrott Smugglers !….doesn`t he mean Budgie Smugglers ?”……….Parrott Smugglers are better, I can stand in front of the mirror and say….” Who`s a pretty boy ! ” hahaha

  38. Le Coq Monster says:

Since 1991 Rico !…………….only come back to watch the Gunners a couple of times per season and to have some Pie&Mash !………………anyone who has the recipe for those Pies !…dont be shy, spill the beans !……cant believe that with so many years of making them and so many Pie&Mash shops that no one knows the recipe !…………..well of course someone knows the bloody recipe, but someone other than an owner !……………….I`ll swap you a pasty recipe !. 🙂

  39. Le Coq Monster says:

I deliver all around Cornwall, Rico and know all the best places to go and I dont mean the Newquay type places, but the nice quiet one`s. If you are lucky enough to live and own in London, then what you could buy down here for the London money is unbelievable…..a piece of heaven for the price of a house around The Arsenal.

  40. Le Coq Monster says:

Then again owning a house around The Arsenal could also be classed as a piece of heaven ! 🙂

  41. Wath says:

LC, a pastie recipe… why bother when easier to come down there and but them…! Pengenna and Tasty in Bude… wicked pasties…..! Ohhh and the clotted cram and scones… yes please…!

I see Micko has been on the piss again….! he’s such a liteweight…! As for Stan… less said the better.

  42. allezkev says:

Well you know what they say Rico, people that come from Cornwall are a bit er, Cornish…. ?

  43. Wath says:

Pie n mash…. Lee and Kev will disagree with me amsure LC but i still say Manzes down Walthamstow market is the best…!

  44. rico says:

Crantock I love LC, been there a lot, lots of other little quirky places. Next time I’m down there, I’ll give you a shout…. A nice hot chocolate on perrinporth bay goes down a treat after a long walk on the bay with the hound….

  45. goonster says:

I see leceister is going all they can to sway vardy from joining us. Why don’t we offer him 150k to blow them out of the water. I can’t afford another heart break like mata’s. We need vardy. Make it happen arsene and all will be forgiven. Afternoon good people.

  46. Le Coq Monster says:

Aunt Avice`s St Kew Highway do a better Pasty, Wath !.
You are welcome Rico…………I`ll go out and leave you to jump on the ride on mower and admire the views along the valley ! 😀

If I was to advise the best place to go in Cornwall it would be the Helford river !. Park at Helford Passage so you can walk along the coastal footpath and get in Trebah for free, then later get a ferry across to Helford and have a beer at The Shipwrights Arms………(a Thatched pub that you can get off on their pontoon if you have your own boat)………..very quiet and sub-tropical !.

  47. rico says:

I’d be in my element LC, love a ride on….

I’ll keep Helford in mind for the next time I’m down there, thanks…

  48. goonster says:

No rico no “stuff him” we need vardy. Jeez I don’t think you guys have watched vardy play at all. This guy ll Harry the opposing defenders all day long. Him and Sanchez pressing from the front ll keep the opposition unsettled thereby allowing the likes ozil to rip them to shreds. Rico we need vardy. I can’t afford to go back to a life without vardy. God help me. I sooner kill myself.

  49. rico says:

I’ve watched him plenty of times Goonie. He either wants to join Arsenal or he doesn’t and if it’s only about money, then stuff him. Arsenal need players who want to play for the club, not a few extra quid!

  50. goonster says:

Dangle 150k in his face and have him switch sides pronto. With vardy we are a different animal. He’s not world class but with the current team (and a few additions) who knows what he might become before the end of next season. We need vardy maam. We need him.

  51. Le Coq Monster says:

Wasn`t bothered either way about Vardy, but for Goonster`s sanity I pray we get him and I hope he has The Samaritans on speed dial ! hahaha

  52. goonster says:

Rico the name of the game is money maam. Money makes the world go round. We need to spend to stay relevant. We ve been in limbo all these years because we chose not to. Imagine if we had kept nasri adethewhore etc. Remember theovannasrigas??? Imagine what we could have achieved with that team. Maybe a cl title and a few premier league titles along the way. We need to spend rico. We have the resources so why not use it. We ll be left behind by the likes of West ham totenham etc if we don’t spend.

  53. goonster says:

LC it’s either vardy or no one. Remember this is wenger we are talking about. If he misses out altogether that’s it. He won’t bother anymore. Going into the season with OG as our only option ll be a travesty.

  54. goonster says:

If the spuds get their new stadium and with the money in the pl currently they ll ursurp us rico. Then the power shift ll be complete.

  55. rico says:

Why Goonie? They have to pay for their stadium, and sign players with the tv money, we though are in a much better place financially…

  56. goonster says:

Lord God in heaven this is not good for my health. We have to wait till 11am monday??? Christ give me strength.

  57. goonster says:

The bottom line maam is we need to spend. Am not saying give him 300k. Just 150 and turn his head. There are no strikers out there and please don’t say Lukaku he’s not worth 60mill. Vardy ll do for now till we unearth a new Super star.

  58. Wath says:

Stan you’re having a laugh, yids may be building a new stadium but how the fuck they gonna fill it…? they barely manage to fill the shit hole as it is…!

  59. goonster says:

Wait for for it WATH. You ll be surprised how many yids are there out there. Anyway I hope you are right.

  60. Le Coq Monster says:

I cant wait for around 11:30am tomorrow !……….not so much for will Vardy sign or not, but for Goonsters reaction !……he needs to video himself and put it up on HH !. hahaha

  61. Le Coq Monster says:

They might have a shiny new Sainsbury`s Stadium, but you know the old adage !………………best to have the worst house on the best street than the best house on the worst street !………..and Totnumb is a shit hole !………….only Fulham, Chavs and possibly QPR have more expensive real estate areas than The Arsenal !

  62. goonster says:

Rico that’s the problem manure just paid an aging zlatan 300k yet we re reluctant to give our best player 200k!!! How on earth are we ever going to compete. How many players have dortmund sold in the past 4 years and why do you think they left for bayern?? We need to spend to keep hold of our best players maam. Gee rico you re worse than wenger ????

  63. goonster says:

How much is flamini oxcham Walcott etc earning?? If we could get rid of the dross in the team we ll be able to afford a 300k player but we won’t. It’s outrageous that we had arteta flamini tr7 Wilshire all earning wages yet without kicking a ball. All their weekly wages ll have gone into procuring a super player.

  64. rico says:

Because zatlan was free and it’s just for one year, it’s a risk but it’ll probably pay off. Utd will pay less overall than they would if they shelled out £60m on a top striker and then his wages….

  65. goonster says:

Lol Rico come on now. So I guess di Maria hazard et al are earning peanuts at their respective clubs. Come on maam. Lol

  66. goonster says:

Same thing maam. We re talking about paying top dollar for our top players to keep hold of them. Nasri and ade would have stayed maybe fabregas and van persie to a lesser extent. Money talks rico. You want the best??? You re gonna have to pay top dollar for them.

  67. goonster says:

What bites is we have players like sanogo and flamini earning a fortune when we simply could get rid of both of them and bring in one super player. Until we change our mindsets about wages we won’t be able to compete with the big boys.

  68. Wavy says:

Wath, do Manzes still have live eels swimming around outside in a small zinc? Container? Used to fascinate me when I was a kid. All creepy crawly and slimy. Tasty when cooked too!

    Vardy, wait for Arsenal.com!

  69. rico says:

You have to put it in perspective though, this is Vardy, not Hazard, Ozil, Alexis etc etc. He’s on £80k a week and should jump at an extra £40k a week imo….

  70. rico says:

Anyway, I’m off to shut my chooks in for the night and watch some rubbish on TV…

    Night guys..

    Catch up tomorrow…

  71. goonster says:

Rico let me clarify myself. Vardy is not my top transfer target. I want Lewandowski but he won’t come. Auba had his sights set on madrid. Aurelio de Laurentiis won’t sell us higuain for anything less than 60mill. I don’t think morata or lukaku is worth 60mill plus wenger won’t sanction it. So when vardy showed up in jumped on it because I know he’s within our reach and a typical wenger signing. My fear is if we fail to get vardy we might not get another cf till God knows when. The whole Suarez debacle Springs to mind. Yes I know vardy isn’t worth 150k but we re desperate for a title wining striker so whatever it takes to get one..we do to get him. End of.

  72. Malaga gooner says:

Not too long ago goonie you were blowing a trumpet for the likes of Walcott and the ox and now their dross

    Make up your mind son…

  73. goonster says:

OG went 15 games without a goal last season. We can’t afford to have that happen ever again. We just can’t.

  74. goonster says:

MG lol I call them dross because now we have the money to compete for huge transfers. Oxcham and theo with the right formation ll flourish. They don’t belong in a tiki taka team. We need real ball players. If only theo can show the same enthusiasm vardy shows I ll not even bother about vardy. We re too soft upfront.

  75. goonster says:

Put oxcham in a more direct team wnd watch him rip it..am still a big fan but I doubt if he ll make it with us. Same goes to theo.

  76. goonster says:

Remember theovannasrigas MG? That team had it all. A few more seasons together and God knows what they might have achieved. If theo was shit he won’t prop that team!!! Play to his strengths and just maybe he ll finally fulfil his destiny.

  77. Joe says:

Andrew’s new buddy Ben Fairthorn is at it again according to him Vardy has passed he’s medical today.

  78. allezkev says:

Cooke’s of Kingsland High Rd used to have live eels out the front…

It’s now a bloody Chinese restaurant leaving Cooke’s of Hoxton Market as the only pie n mash shop from that family business…

They used to have one also in Broadway Market but that has gone as well… ☹️

  79. Micko says:

Malaga, running short of factor 30 in Kerry, couldn’t send us over an emergency supply by any chance could ya buddy lol !

Stan, ask any Paddy what he thinks of Lewandowski and he’ll tell ya he’s nothing but a dirty cheating diving potato head, I got no reason to lie.

Kev 12.54, Thomas Eisfeld, that’s what happened, he was 20 mill cheaper lol !!!

  80. Joe says:

Goonster the press is on its switch the story because they get more hits now from us Arsenal fans with something different I mean how many sites are now carrying the Vardy to Arsenal story.
That something different at moment is that leicester want to keep him of course they want to keep him.
So the first site to carry the story that there are difficulties stands out from the crowd and off we go clicking the bloody site.
They did the same thing with Xhaka

  81. Joe says:

There’s always hope but it’s wait till see a leaked picture on social media ? or its on the .com.

  82. Wavy says:

Just can’t see what Arsenal offer that Leicester don’t! Apart from a few quid and the prospect of tika taka! Not Vardy’s style at all!
    Still, we’ll see.

    Morning all

  83. tsgh says:

    Good morning Rico and all…
Another player and agent to use the Arsenal as a bargaining chip… unbelievable really. we keep falling for it.

  84. tsgh says:

As mentioned on Friday evening its not really happening.
Agent using Arsenal; Leicester asked for one of our players who LCFC know would not like to move to Leicester…

    Lets see how it goes…

  85. rico says:

    Morning Ts, Wavy.

Can’t see it being like that myself Ts, Vardy has not long signed a new contract so he was clearly happy. But as so many ex footballers are saying, when a club like Arsenal come calling, it’s a no brainer really…

  86. rico says:

I’d imagine that with England heading off to the Euros at 11.30am today, if Vardy was going to sign, he’d have already done so after his medical yesterday. That’s if he had one of course…. 😉

  87. bradster says:

    Morning all,

I reckon Vardy would just be another Walcott. In our formation he would need to track back as a wide player and not have anything to run on to.
After the international tournaments and holidays there will be no time to play together in a new formation with 2 up front.
We need a striker with pace but also an immense touch and quick feet.
Torres for me would be a nicer gamble than Vardy but I’d prefer Gemeiro from Seville of all.

Last point on Vardy is that I think his finishing has been lucky. He doesn’t pick his spot but just blasts as hard as he can at goal. I feel his luck will run out

  88. Le Coq Monster says:

Morning Venomous Vardy Vipers ! 😀

Even though he is not a mega star I find the Vardy saga quite exciting, it`s better than Corrie, Emmerdale and Eastenders put together and putting a climax time on it will have everyone glued to their sets !.

So Rico, are you waiting to possibly after 11:30 am for the new post ?. 🙂

  89. tsgh says:

Rico- please make sure the post does not say its all AW’s fault. 😉
The thought of Sir Cream- A- lot Goonster springing up to say he knew AW will fail us fills me with trepidation. 😉

  90. Marshall says:

Honestly I think wenger have to sign a striker (vardy) cause he has to have something on the table when Ozil contract talks begin. I’d imagine Ozil team demanded a better striker and Wenger is getting them one.

  91. Le Coq Monster says:

I`ve got 12 tonnes of Padstow sand being delivered today to top up a sand school, although me and my son will use it to play beach football on as the wife`s bastards….sorry…..horses are grazing on the fields !. Cant afford to move to Padstow, so I`ve brought Padstow to Lezant !. 😀
So it could be one barrow of sand being moved then one look on the internet to what`s happening with Vardy !

  92. andrewh1313 says:

Morning all. How comes no reporter was sniffing around the medical centre taking pics if Vardy turned up? In this day and age, someone should have tracked him yesterday! Odds shortening to 4/11 from 1/10 on Sky bet. Still in our favour though.

Just hope we get a definitive answer today, not a drag on till after the Euros. Stan, where’s your man, any news?

  93. rico says:

It wasn’t bad Adam, Mark Wright scored a peach of a free kick. Apparently Big Sam is thinking about signing him… lol

  94. tsgh says:

Adam- I thought Mark Wright had a bit of Kev about him when he curled a long range shoot into goal… 😉 I felt well jel. 🙂

  95. Le Coq Monster says:

See what you`re saying there Marshall, but a player of Ozil`s class will probably say….” who the fucks Vardy ?……is he that Star Wars villain ….Darth Vardy ? “

  96. andrewh1313 says:

Le Coq, he will be bloody Darth Vardy if he doesn’t sign now, and the penalty dive over Monreal’s foot will no longer be glossed over 😉

  97. rico says:

    Too late Ts… lol

    Bad back tomorrow then LC.

Agree Marshall re Ozil and a striker… He’s probably sick of looking up and seeing no-one…

Andrew, after the Xhaka leaked photo’s, maybe the media were kept out…

If it’s happening, I reckon we’ll hear today just after the England team head out to France…

  98. Adam says:

I saw that goal. It was good although that berk in goal should have saved it. Wright’s a spud though isn’t he? Absolutely loves himself though what he actually ‘does’ remains a mystery.

  99. tsgh says:

Rico what did you think of Ronaldinho and Berbatov combo? I thought they brought a bit of finesse to the game.. initially at least.

  100. andrewh1313 says:

rico, but he has to get out of a car and into centre, you would have thought some hack would have spent the afternoon waiting rather than re-posting same old news? Not looking so good now.

  101. Le Coq Monster says:

Mark Wright was at Arsenal as well as Spuds, Southend and Hammers, but he`s a Hammer fan !.

  102. tsgh says:

🙂 Adam. you are spot on Sir. Another example of people being ‘famous’ for being ‘famous’.
Then again what is the definition of fame these days?

  103. Le Coq Monster says:

If leaked fixtures are to be believed, we have Watford away, then Leicester as first home game !

  104. rico says:

I quite like him Adam. It’s not his fault he’s good looking, has a fit body and lovely white teeth… 😉

Reality TV, that’s his job. TOWIE I think, awful programme….

  105. rico says:

Andrew, he probably arrived at midnight so he couldn’t be seen… 😉

Ts, they were good, slow, but still have it all eh…

  106. Wath says:

Wavy, no live eels outside Manzes any more last I knew they inside in draws now in like a water bath thingy…. Orrible things lol….

  107. Le Coq Monster says:

Only an hour and 43 mins to go !…………………..I bet Goonster is under sedation !

  108. Le Coq Monster says:

Rico…..your clock is about 4/5 mins out !………..your time is in the future !………..you`ll know before Goonster !. hahaha

  109. goonster says:

Normally I don’t blog during the week(I work all day) but am willing to incur my boss’ wrath. I don’t want to log on newsnow later only to find out that cnut rejected us. I want to be here first hand to witness it. My meltdown won’t be of epic proportions than when I find out later after a hard days work.???? morning good people. Keeping my fingers crossed.

  110. goonster says:

Oh shit Andrew stop it. You re enough to make a grown man shit himself. Not looking good he says. God help me. ?????

  111. Adam says:

    TS. Fame or celebrity?
Each to their own Rico. I will admit that his failure to distinguish between consonants and vowels does give him a certain unique mode of expression.

  112. andrewh1313 says:

Goonster, I’m just trying to prepare myself in case we get the wrong news, still trusting my new friend Ben ;-).

What a day to not be into work until 14.00!

Ben Fairthorne ‏@BFairthorne 15 minutes ago
Vardy decided on AFC Fri, medical yesterday – rest is damage limitation with LCFC fans. He wants it to seem as though it was a decision.

    Feel better now?

  113. Adam says:

Morning Wath. There’s a very decent pie ‘n mash gaff in Wanstead High Street. I haven’t been down Walthamstow Market for a long time. Is there still one in Chapel Market at the Angel?

  114. Wath says:

Morning Adam, Yes far as I now there is still one in Chapel Market also a decent one in Camden..! I still think Manzes is the best, Walthamstow market is hmmm yes “lovely” Adam, don’t put it on your to do list anytime soon..!

  115. goonster says:

I hope you re right Andrew because I think i might get the sack today if vardy rejects us. Don’t know what I ll do to myself or my boss?

  116. Wavy says:

Hope you’re right Andrew, but I’m shrill not holding my breath!

Thanks Wath for that nostalgic piece of info. Don’t suppose I have walked down Walthamstow High Street since about 1976! Nice to catch up on the latest news though! Did have some jellied eels a couple of years ago, they were much as I remembered them, muddy! And Thames mud flavoured, at that!

Is Vardy going to prove as slippery as an eel, I wonder. I never could catch them and keep them. They always slid away! A bit like Wenger’s bargain basement buys!?

  117. Joe says:

How would Vardy feel if he decides not to join us and stay at Leicester and when he gets back there at the end of the summer to find Kante and Mahrez have moved on.
If the media is to be believed thierll be at Arsenal?

  118. Adam says:

The one in Wanstead is rather posh. They sell poached salmon and mash for those that don’t like the pies. :).
Chapel Street isn’t what it used to be either. All the ‘faces’ have long gone.

  119. Wavy says:

Wath, wasn’t there another Pie ‘n mash shop at the Baker’s Arms in Leyton? I think that was a Manzes too?

  120. goonster says:

Joe mkhitaryan over mahrez please. Mahrez is like good but Henrik mkhitaryan is a beast. I don’t think most people have seen this guy play. Am just gonna shut up now before rico bins me for going all “dortmund” on here. Lol.

  121. andrewh1313 says:

Thing is, is we make this signing it will be the most pro-active TW in memory. I could take us failing next season, because at least we had tried fully. Last few seasons leave a bitter taste, because we all know it could have been so different.

  122. rico says:

🙂 Adam, he is certainly not famous, but celebrity, yes. Mind you, that’s not difficult to achieve these days with all the reality programmes on television…

  123. goonster says:

Spot on Andrew but it’s still a long way before the window closes. Surely we can still find someone even if vardy rejects us and am not saying 60 million for Lukaku etc. Maybe Kevin gameiro or someone else because all the big guns won’t leave their respective clubs. No way bayern ll sell Lewa or auba going for cheap. Am still pining my hopes on your ben Andrew. God help me. Look at my limbs shaking. I ll be needing therapy when this is all over. Christ in heaven.

  124. Hell Raising Devil says:

Don’t worry Goonie. I am with you on Mhitaryan. I have seen him play and honestly I would not want to be the opposing coach trying to stop an advanced midfield of Alexis, Ozil and Mkhitryan. Those three can play one touch football in a telephone box.

Plus Mkhitaryan’s freekicks alone are worth the admission fee of the Ems

  125. goonster says:

Imagine a front 3 of mkhitaryan alexis and vardy. Pressing and harrying the opposition while the likes of ozil push up and take the space behind them. My God we re going to kill them. Please dear lord make it happen and I ll give up drinking all together. I promise.

  126. Le Coq Monster says:

This is getting too exciting…………still no sign of my Padstow sand………….or Vardy !. hahaha

  127. tsgh says:

Sir Cream A -Lot back to work you skiving yank.. 😉

Adam- maybe he is a ‘celebrity’; so far as they are not called role-models or heroes I am not fussed…

  128. goonster says:

Best window in ages LC. We re in the news for the right reasons. What’s not to like??? Hey wenger was spotted with dein. Maybe he had a few words with him. Who knows.

  129. Wath says:

Wavy am sure the one at the Bakers Arms went many yrs ago…!

Adam, there are a cpl in Romford that are good but not great..! Kelly’s…??? think thats the one.

A mate of mine swears by one over the Elephant and Castle no idea what it’s called, Am sure Kev would know.

  130. Adam says:

Morning Wavy. I went to one in Bethnal Green Road with Kev and Lee last year which was ok. I took my posh friend to the one in Wanstead and the meat was really good quality. He loved it.
I try very hard to avoid the Elephant and Castle and all its arteries if possible. 🙂
