Morning all.
Reports in the newspapers this morning suggest Lukas Podolski will not be in the squad for today’s game. If true, he’s either injured or off in my opinion and considering there has been no injury disclosed, one has to draw the conclusion the he’s off. Juventus are the latest club linked.
The second is Sami Khedira. He was left out of the Real Madrid side last night which lost to Atletico and saw the chance of their first trophy fall by the wayside. It’s no secret that Madrid are keen to sell their midfielder but it seems strange that no move has yet materialised. I have my own cunning theory that should we win on Wednesday, he’ll be ours, although Bayern are reported to be interested as well.
Come on Sami, come join Mesut……
Back on the 6th April this year we travelled to Everton and got battered 3-0. It was a horrid day, one of a few in the latter part of last season. We didn’t travel well and certainly not when facing sides with a bit of pace and Everton certainly had that, as well as a bit of bite.
The match was very different to the 4-1 victory at The Emirates the month before.
We’ve struggled against Everton in the league of late, in fact other than the loss away from home, a draw has been the outcome in the previous fixtures.
We had injury worries back then too, Koscielny was out, Ramsey started on the bench having just recovered, Ozil was injured as was Gibbs which meant Monreal, just about fit himself, had to deputise and he had a torrid time up against Lukaku. Their midfield ruled ours and we weren’t helped by Arteta scoring an own goal.
Sanogo came on with twenty minutes or so and should have chalked up his first goal for Arsenal. Annoyingly and wrongly, it was ruled offside.
That defeat back in April though was our last…..
Everton have made a few additions this summer, the pick of the bunch being , Gareth Barry from City, Lukaku on a permanent deal and James McCarthy.
Ross Barkley is out injured tough which is always pleasing to hear when we are playing Everton and Lukaku is a doubt which would also be welcome news.
We all know who we have signed and I think they will make a big difference today and of course we’ll have Ramsey from the start. Koscielny plays too which is key to our defence and Yaya Sanogo has recovered from his hamstring. I know he’s not a fans favourite yet, but he can be a real pain for defenders as he proved against Liverpool at home last season. They don’t know what he’s going to do at all, perhaps that’s because the player isn’t too sure either… lol
Our German trio are available for selection today but as said earlier it’s rumoured that Lukas Podolski will not be in the squad as he’s expected to leave. Whether that’s true or not I don’t know.
Arsene Wenger has a few big decisions to make today with Wednesdays match on his mind no doubt. I hope we start with Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez on the pitch at the same time….
I can’t see a repeat of the April scoreline, I really can’t and if every one of our players put a 100% shift in, I think we’ll have enough to win this fixture, or certainly not lose it. Martinez won’t set his side up to park the bus that’s for sure, he’ll get his players out of the blocks early and quickly and we have to be ready for the onslaught.
Then get a grip of the game, take control and then go for the jugular.
There’s been a lot of talk from Arsene Wenger and Aaron Ramsey about how we won’t be bullied this season.
Well today, go and prove it.
COYYRG’s…..
If Ozil starts as no. 10, then play Alexis through the middle. Jagielka and Distin aren’t very mobile. So this combination can cause damage upfront. Else, I would start Giroud as the lone striker. He will have a point to prove after the Besiktas horror show. Also, I would like to see Campbell. He will offer trickery on the flanks and will be a surprise element. Coleman will find him difficult to handle.
Nice write to get us excited Rico. I think your little hypothesise about Podolski and Khedira are good ones, but of course many things can happen. My own little theory is that if Khedira doesnt work out at a reasonable transfer sum and wages then Wenger will go all in for Carvahlo.
Surprised that its written Sanogo is back from a hamstring injury already! Even slight strains are 2 weeks at least, usually 3.
Thanks roger..
Perhaps AW didn’t want to cup tie Sanogo.. lol
good post Rico and a test today for sure
Thanks oz, big test and I’m glad it’s come early..
Like I said in the post, a lot of talk about us not being bullied this season, well I’d like to see a bit of that today….
interesting also the amount of players being left out all over Europe – could be a big last week in the window
How about alexie as a sub and start with OX,rosicky,Ramsey, campell and giroud .
Our arsenal
The best of injury team in EPL.
Arsenal have ever injury .
The only thing that worries me re: ‘We won’t get bullied’ blah blah blah, is that Wenger has a habit of coming out with these statements.
And then what he claims ‘won’t happen’ often does happen…
I’m not too confident about today…
Offer me the draw now, and I’d take it…
Morning all, Rico, good battle cry, let’s chew some toffees today and feast on turkey, on Wednesday. Ready for War!!!
Kev, ‘accidents’ spring to mind.
Not taking Podolski, seems to mean that he could be leaving Rico, as you suggest…
Not sure that that is a wise decision, unless Wenger had an alternative replacement lined up?
Wonder if Campbell will get a run-out today?
Accidents, yeah BT, we’re pretty good at those mate…
accidents haha another classic
It is Oz..
Sukky, don’t you want to win today? lol
We are going to win Kev.. 😉
Thanks Bt, I did my bit, now it’s over the team…
go tot be honest becoming seriously concerned with yet another window – seems we are likely to sell Pod (no real issues with that i guess) but man we have needs still and they are obvious, we also need to strengthen this player depth. I get the feeling we’ve made bottom line offers again and our going to sit until panic hits at the 11th hour again
really need to read these posts before i post them – bloody keyboard – of course it couldn’t be me 🙂
Touch call for today – does AW go all out with his best 11, or will he think about Wednesday. Imo, he should play his best 11 and worry about Wednesday when the day arrives.
I guess if we had a deeper squad, we wouldn’t be worrying quite so much…
agree Rico but you knew that already no doubt
If we don’t feel confident to turn over Everton, then we shouldn’t feel confident about picking up any trophies this year. Everton are a steady side – but they certainly aren’t a great side.
It wasn’t Everton who were good last season it was just us who played crap to make them look good.
We are more than capable of beating Everton today and of thrashing Besiktas at the Emirates.
As re: Podolski? We let a 100-cap international who scores goals go, and persevere with some French road sweeper from Ligue 2 ? It doesn’t stack up.
Syg, Arsene knows….
Good Morning Baby Looney Tunes.
Podolski out of squad??? That is a pity. I like him. But that’s life. No player is bigger than the club. Thanks for the howitzers Prinz.
atm its chicken on a bed of mushrooms and rice. Topped up with STRAWBERRY wine. God…..that vino is so good.
Good post Rico. Win today and the post will be a great one. 😉
I would take a draw. If we can turn those big defeats, we all know them, into draws I will be very happy. I would love a win at Anfield and Chavs because of the manner of the defeats there last season. However, those five defeats become draws and last season we are 2nd.
COME ON THE GUNNERS
I did Oz…
I’m confident Syg… of both matches…
Thanks Devil.
Really BT62?
I’d like to think so.
Le-Grove have mentioned Falcao. He’s available and affordable.
There has to be a reason the club never moved on Balotelli and it can’t be because Wenger thinks Sanogo or Campbell are the answer.
Khedira seems to be very much on the cards and the betting suggest we are his likely destination – big odds-on. Saying that Draxler is still odds on to join us come September 1st.
Good lass, Rico
We should not be letting squad players go ….need depth…if iPod goes then we need two players in….still need the CD and the infamous DM 🙂
Syg, i’m still trying to get my tongue, out off my cheek….
Good Morning Rico and the House.
Good post Rico and just like you I think we will win tonight
I also think that you will see players leave and join after next wed.
At half time in the u18 match against the chaves we are drawing 1-1
Mavididi the scorer. More latta
As re: Podolski? We let a 100-cap international who scores goals go, and persevere with some French road sweeper from Ligue 2 ? It doesn’t stack up.
That’s fucking funny! 🙂
Lee, my man…………..
I thought your comment was spot on Syg…
Morning Rick, thanks. Busy few days if we win Weds, slow few days if we lose, but I can’t see us not winning on Weds, I really can’t, not even without Ramsey..
Nipping off to get a few things done…. Later folks..
Rick…. U18’s FInal score AFC 5 – chavs 1….
Shame we can’t beat their first team with a result like that…!
That’s a hiding!
Bloody hell, Wath, that’s what i call a result….
Wath you beat me to it.
Are we already seeing the Jonker influence.
I dont know who scored the last goal but Mavididi (2) Robinson and Donovan scored the first 4
Thats 9 goals in 2games and all scored by players coming from HaleEnd
Lee thats a hammering and revenge.
Morning all.
Whopping for an attacking frontline today of Ozil AM, Chambo RW, cambell LW and Sanchez CF.
That is pace in abundance and would give them something to think about.
Sadly it’ll probably be cazorla giroud and rosicky instead.
SYG, classic comment!
“As re: Podolski? We let a 100-cap international who scores goals go, and persevere with some French road sweeper from Ligue 2 ? It doesn’t stack up.”
Rico, I dont think you can just say lets see about Wednesday when it comes around. No way – too much is riding on it, money-wise, but also the players that could change their mind about joining without CL football. I think Wenger should know his Wednesday team already, and base todays team around that.
I wont complain with a draw today and a smashing win on Wednesday. I will complain if its the other way around, and the Turks draw 1-1.
Tyrell Robinson got the last one Rick….! Sorry he got the 4th… No name on who scored the 5th….
A crucial game next week. Another one today.
Why we have only 6 defenders in squad in that time of the season?
who looks for the squad says we miss players.
We have players not in good physical conditions because the World cup. Injuries players. A squad short.
On the 31th August, we can be out of the Champions League and drop cruacial points on the League for the future.
We know our season begin early then the others and we are know that our team isn’t close. Not the same with the others.
JM ever summer this plays out the same way – thought this one he might shake it and really make some statements instead we’re already putting pressure on the youngsters like Chambers and hoping players like Campbell suddenly starts finding the net or assists at a level higher than he is used to, while preying Sanogo suddenly becomes Anelka, uummm – We’re pissing about again trying to get 10m talents for 5 i bet ya.
Wath Robinson did score the last one as well
Great result for the U18’s, coached by De Kat is it, or the other Dutch geezer…
We could see some massive benefits to bringing in the Dutch influence.
Should have done it years ago…
I have a feeling that Jonker will take over from AW when the latter retires. I had this feeling when he was signed. He will have three seasons adapting and then he will take over I feel.
Hi habib. How are you?
Long may it continue….maybe AW, should spend some time with, our new Dutch coaches…
Maybe Bergkamp is gonna return eventually Coach…
Jonkers and Bergkmp.. the magic duo perhaps.
maybe yes maybe no habib
I have had this feeling since Jonker was linked with the club….that eventually he will take over. And what better way than to get used to it by spending time with the academy? No pressure on him, enough time to learn. observe and continue on the foundations laid by AW
BT, it seems with the obsessive club policy of balancing the books and the total focus on paying off the stadium debts. That things such as the fitness and medical side of the club and the Academy have been ignored…
Now hopefully with the changes put in place this summer, concerning the above, will see some improvements. Because we’ve slipped badly behind the petrodollar clubs in both regards.
As if it ain’t enough that we’re financially disadvantaged as it is…..
Coach, you might have a point with Jonker, but I have to admit that it would suprise me if the club decided to hire him with that in mind…
All the same, when Wenger does leave, Jonker being in situ could provide him with a strong case to be the next manager…
Maybe he had that in mind when he took the job?
We can only hope, Kev, the medical side of things is/was, embarassing to say the least. Case of cider required ,catcha latta.
Fabregas play again…
again its all speculation Kev. Maybe both club and Jonker had this idea in mind…..he organizes the youth sector, the medical sector while out of the limelight and will get a feel of the EPL jungle survival. Maybe the club and Jonker have decided to review things in 2.5 years time together with AW and they will come to a conclusion on whether to go forward or look elsewhere.
again………its all speculation on my part. but I have had this feeling since day 1. Its a gut feeling not a wish or desire.
Afternoon all..
Any news?
nothing on the transfer front yet Rico
all quiet.
No surprise there then Devil..
Pardew managed another poor result – does that count as news?
Away at Villa though Oz, surely not so bad… lol
Podolski is still in Germany according to a headline or two…
West Ham have been able to score twice against Palace, they’ve not conceded either…. Mmmmm
i see that Rico – Palace at home as well, interesting
Leicester hanging on as well 0-0 won’t bet on that not changing
Very Oz, but I guess they were a little bit more imaginative going forward than they were at The Ems…
Would be great if Leicester could hold on, but can’t see it myself….
very nervous for today… not good hope…
Chamack scored for Palace
Let’s pick our team for tonight then.
Szczesny
Debuchy Merts Kos Monreal
Chambers
Ramsey Rosicky OC
Alexis Campbell
Subs:
Cazorla, Giroud, Ozil, Sanaogo, Miquel, Flamini and anyone else left 😉
Poldi has been training and did train…
lol Roger… Syg has something against part time footballers wearing the red of north London. 😛
Syg, I must have met your twin in an Irish pub whilst watching Ath vs Madrid last night… I told him to check us on HH…
Agag, you will love Marrakesh…
Good read Rico…
Come on all..
a tight 2 goal win.
Ramsey and AS17 goals with Ozil assisting…
OG12 will be up for this one…
Hi JM, hope all is well.
It’ll be tough but if we are up for this, we’ll win imo…
Thanks Ts, headlines suggest otherwise re Podolski, but what do they know eh…..
Rick, any details on our u18 win earlier?
Full time, Arsenal 5-1 CFCU18. The hosts punished the young Blues with some clinical finishing and four second half goals.
Ng- Hazard on Diego Costa “He looks old, I think he’s old. He is 25 but I don’t know if it is true.”
lol Rico…
Jm- Chamakh for the box to box role… 😛
Rico- Le Coq will come in on the bench me think…
I am trying to get a french pasport so i can get a contract with AFC… 😛
Arsène Wenger has an astroid named after him, the 33179 Arsènewenger. The discoverer was an Arsenal fan apparently…
that man Costa again
1-0 Chelsea
Who have been in Marrakesh?
Coquelin shouldn’t even be on the bench!
Costa is shite though Oz, must have been a lucky goal… 😉
Mind you, Chamakh started well for Arsenal, it all went downhill rapidly….. lol
Ts/Oz, what would be your starting eleven today?
It’s easy to moan after the team is announced….. 😉
backline picks its self as does the striker – so ramsey, sanchez, flam and Ox
oops and I’d go with Rosicky
Rico, my starting XI =
Seaman, Hapgood, Winterburn, Copping, Adams, Bould, Pires, James, George, Bergkamp, Henry….
Chavs 2-0
Scott’s starting XI =
Ramsey, Ramsey, Ramsey, Ramsey, Ramsey, Ramsey, Ramsey, Ramsey , Ramsey, Ramsey, Ramsey. 😀
Lee’s starting XI =
Gervinho, Gervinho, Gervinho, Gervinho etc 😉
so its Sanchez the striker hey?
1 Szczesny
2 Debuchy
21 Chambers
4 Mertesacker
18 Monreal
20 Flamini
16 Ramsey
15 Oxlade-Chamberlain
10 Wilshere
11 Ozil
17 Sanchez
That looks a damned good XI…
🙂 Kev…
I ask because once the team sheet announced, there’s a lot of ‘i wouldn’t have played x,y,z. So name it before then I say… 😉
4.38, that is so Scott Kev, very very funny…. 🙂
No Koscielny, a rest before Wednesday, or an injury… 🙁
Rico, my son just texted me:
We need to wrap Koz up in cotton wool…
And I couldn’t agree more.
We don’t want Kozzer needing an Achilles op…
piling the pressure on Chambers aren’t we?
That is a good line up.
no focal target point……the forward line is all about movement and speed. OX, Sanchez, Ozil up front.
Arteta….DM
Wilhshere and Aaron B2B
wouldn’t have played Jack as i indicated but keen to see Sanchez the striker in action – small forward line that one now, so its ball on the deck at all costs i assume ha!
Adam’s starting 11……….Remy, Remy, Remy etc
Kev’s starting 11…..the whole team all bent.
Rico’s starting 11……Theo, Theo, Theo
Wath’s starting 11????…….GGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Kossy on the bech Rico . Podolski is not in the squad
Kev, if we get Manolas, he can be looked after. If we don’t, I seriously worry, not only for Kos, but for our defence…
Never Devil, with TW in the side, we need defenders… 😉
Thanks Rick. Podolski is a gonner….
Love the fact that Alexis is up front.
Arsenal subs:
Martinez, Bellerin, Rosicky, Cazorla, Giroud, Campbell, Koscielny
Morning all, good write up Rico. JW should be on the bench, with Rosicky starting. imo
Our bench looks good as well.
Martinez Bellerin Kossy Rosicky Santi Giroud Campbell.
Game changers there.
Beat me to it Rico .
Thats twice today I’ve been too slow.
Thanks Gdna, here was my selection 😉
Szczesny
Debuchy Merts Kos Monreal
Chambers
Ramsey Rosicky OC
Alexis Campbell
Subs:
Cazorla, Giroud, Ozil, Sanaogo, Miquel, Flamini and anyone else left 😉
🙂 Rick, I wouldn’t worry….
O2 O2B O2B A GOOONER!!!!!!!!!!
Everton subs: Robles, McGeady, Besic, Atsu, Osman, Stones, Alcaraz
Everton team: Howard, Coleman, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Barry, McCarthy, Mirallas, Naismith, Pienaar, Lukaku
I hope Monreal isn’t left isolated to deal with Lukaku like last season in this fixture…
has to be the smallest front line ever 🙂
Good Afternoon Rico and All
Nice read, Rico.
Ts. Your 4:15
The Jury is not even out yet on Costa. For the time been, I would reserve my opinion for now. But how much do you think the Chelsea side that played Leicester today cost?
With such expensive side, any CF would look good…
Everton v Arsenal.Alexie start up front and giroud on †̥ђƺ bench.Seems wenger is going for pace here
It’s the feet which matters …. 😉
Afternoon Ng, thanks.
Good Sukky, pace is long overdue….
Let’s stuff the toffees!!
the way we deal with set pieces might be critical here – they have the firepower – tough game to win me thinks
Chew them up and spitum out..
fingers crossed bt62
Oz, these are games we need to win…
i don’t disagree mate
I have no finger nails left and the game hasn’t even kicked off….. lol
3-0 last year doesn’t help Rico ha!
oh well… back at half time hopefully smiling!!
The guy is trying everything not to but a CF. #spendtheclubmoney
Need a smoke to calm me nerves!! loll
Bloody z cars…..
Hope we’ve learnt from last year.
So do I BT and I don’t smoke… 😉
COYRRG’S!!!!!
Sorry Rico, Ng
I have to attend to something…
Jm- I like Marrakesh
Everton XI: Howard, Coleman, Distin, Jagielka, Baines, Barry, McCarthy, Pienaar, Mirallas, Naismith, Lukaku
Since losing to Everton in April, Arsenal have won six straight league games, conceding just two goals..
Mesut Ozil has scored in both of his appearances against Everton…
Another Cesc assist earlier…
Ng- the chav squad is like monopoly/FM14 squad… lol
Bt- you call yourself a man of steel…? 🙂
Is this what you call tactics Bt, Dev?
https://vine.co/v/MLT1uxMbuHx
yes Ginge……they are tactics……Mr Bean’s tactics. He invented them
😀 Dev..
Gets please keep me posted on proceedings…
Jack why didn’t you take that shot!
so many similarities……
FFS!!!!!!!!!
Dear oh dear…???
Ozil was star gazing there.
No one picked him up.
Why is Ozil playing on the lhs…
Our wingers give our FBs no protection at all… ffs
Unmarked?? FFS. Grrrr.
JEEEEZzz!!
This is gonna be a loooong night…
that should have been a yellow card for diving.
Same shit just a different day.
Sanchez really grafts!
did you see that by Sanchez?????
outrageous. in the full back position
Just take your chances. I hate the pass pass pointless pass. SIck of it.
The team needs a spine, so all this chopping & changing is a indication how reluctant AW is to address the problem.
Exactly if we had another Sanchez playing on the lhs we wont be slating our fbs again…
Sachez does put a smile on my face though. 🙂
Monreal getting hungout to dry by kamikaze tactics again.
ozill don’t defend!
wilshere and ozil at the same time is a wrong idea
joe royle was very good Everton center forward
Oh dear…..
What the fuck happens on the trg ground at AFC? What is AW good at. Lol
Never learn…
Embarrassing! Fucking embarrassing!
Offside!!!
no one tracked Naismith’s run?????
defence all at sea.
AW Tactics…Ts…lol
Offside. Offside
Merts was fouled in the build up too….
Wankers, absolute wankers are these officials!
no Rico…….the run was well timed imo
it was a diagonal run between two defenders
mets was booked. no chance fior fault.
Was offside
anyway, Ozil and wilshere can’t play at the same team.
Rico, it’s obvious that AW is past it, this is no accident. How long are we gonna suffer with this outdated dude?
Offside yes, but it was sooo easy…..
Simply rubbish. No defense for it.
How the Lineman miss that?
Unless the French twat addresses our squad properly we’ll get turned over by the usual suspects, carbon copy of last season!
Why is wilshere on †̥ђƺ field?
Exactly..It’s just not the players though. Lee..
Pathetic…
I guess it was lowly Leicester and the imprenertrable Crystal Palace last week. It’s difficult enough without making so many changes to the line up.
we had a team in the pitch for not lost for many not for win.
Now we must change, but we have a defeat on our pocket and just 45 minutes.
When this shambolic pattern repeats itself over and over again, there is only one person to blame. Wenger is making Martinez look like Pep Guardiola
Sick and tired off getting shafted by officials.
The guy is good at book keeping & average at coaching, I can’t wait for his press conference.
No offsides mates I’m afraid….close call it may be but no offside. timing of diagonal run was good.
http://arsenalist.com/f/2014-15/everton-vs-arsenal/everton-score-as-mertesacker-challenge-fails-2-0.html
totally out coached is what’s happening here – how many goals is that now against us on Merseyside recently? We’ve been mouthing it for weeks and deserve that TBH
If we buy the World best eleven… We’ll keep getting beat with Wenger. What happened to keeping the door shut against the top teams. If we get a draw i will celebrate.
Arsenal need to show a sh**t load of pride in the secound half..
Don’t blame the officials, Everton should have had a penalty before the 2nd goal. They spend all their money on a Top CF, while we sit & talk how good OG & Sanogo is. AW lacks ambition and brainwashed people while he massage his egos.
Sorry Dev but offside. We have too many speedy players coming inside , too tight no width and over passing just for a change. Lots of little one two’s but no release of ball . never score this way against this lot.
He takes Sanchez off. Lmfao
I am sorry Potter…..but I beg to differ.
Lol.
should have gone for 4-4-2 not replace Sanchez.. I would have taken Wilshere off
debuchy is crazy!
Sorry Dev. It’s a clear offside
It should have been 2-1.
Sky stopped it and it’s off . But just seen Wilshere unabe to keep on his feet.
SYG 11.56, rarely disagree with you but you know your gonna have to scrap tooth and nail if you wanna come away from Goodison with all 3 points, everton wanted it more last April, think they leap-frogged us into 4th place that day and luckily enough for us went on to fcuk it up in their last 4 or 5 games.
Giroud on for Sanchez, Wenger should be dope tested !
another player booked!
We haven’t any player who shoot in the pitch!
Devil, it was offside. Not excusing the rest of the game but that goal should never have stood…
Take Wilshere off and bring on Cazorla.
🙂 Micko, he an the other 6 dwarfs…
why was CC booked??? he took the ball cleanly while the everton player fell over his own feet.
Ramsey and Jack have been off their game today….
Who can tell me the ball possession on the 1st half?
FFS
Could ask the same about Merts Devil.
1st half possession was 54% Everton and 46% Arsenal
And Mesut has been non existent…
Possession means little without an end product….
Hopefully this will kick start some signings. Same shit different year. Where is the power in this team?!
Whaoo a corner !!
This is the worst type of game. The crowd are reffing it. Just a question of who gets a red card here. Gareth Barry really is scum of the highest order.
No craft , no width, no idea , no shots , no hope
We don’t have a goal in us….
what a shambles.
Any excuse to give them a free kick
Why didn’t he bury that…
Arsenal have been better with Grioud coming on.He seems †̥ђƺ real deal
Rico…..Potter has given you the match report for tomorrow…..
potter says:
August 23, 2014 at 6:50 pm
No craft , no width, no idea , no shots , no hope
Save yourself time and just write that. And let us get on with the slagging.
Can AS17 play upfront? He is a top player but anyone who watched him at Udinese knows he is not a centre forward!
Giroud! Giroud Giroud!
Sanchez was injury?
I might just do that Devil.
Ts, anyone who watched him at Barca and for Chile would know he is…
I love Aw… but as I said to you Scott when we met.. he had to just walk after taking the trophy… unfortunately.
at last…..JAck is off
Amazing how the ref misses a massive push on Mert for 1st goal but can see our players brushing into them!
Rico- He did not play CF at Barca as far as I am aware…
Imo, he is a top player and almost world class but we need a proper striker…
My views was not a diss of him but just saying we need to address our goal scoring issue..
we can´t keep blaming Og12…
Everton Better team by a mile. We are clueless.
I didn’t suggest we don’t need a striker Ts, all I’m saying is, Alexis is a striker but expecting him to hit the ground running in a new league is crazy.. He needs time and we all need to be patient..
And all the time Giroud misses his chances, he’ll always be blamed…
Ramsey.. COYRRG’s!!!!!!!!!!!
RAMSEYYY
TS he is a tricky player with pace , The rest are tricky with no pace or at least they don’t use it. The passing build up is too slow and enables dogs of war midfielders plenty of time to get their tackles in . Then you take of Jack and bring on real talent and he picks out Ramsey and too late we are back in it.
in the past 9 years…..we drew 1-1 from 1-0 up, we drew 2-2 from 2-0 up…..hell even 4-0 up and drew 4-4.
We are 0-2 and not even a hope in hell to get at least one….
…..hold on Aaron got one back.
not even a hope of getting a draw though.
I wonder which famous person will die tomorrow!!!!
Should be 1-1!!
2-2…………….yeeeeeeeeessssssssss
G ROOOOD!!!!!
Should be 2-1 Rico…
That’s ♍Ɣ giroud.
Get the fuck in
Well done Giroud…
COYRRG’s!!!!!!
not even a hope of getting a winner though
It should Woody!
Campbell’s control seems a little off
Great to see Campbell back defending..
Eeeee. My boy!!!!!!!
Lucky
Unlucky with their second as well though
Great point considering we were playing 13
2-2 a great result
but…..
shambolic performance
shambolic tactics
shambolic choice of players
shambolic teamwork
Everton were lucky to have been 2-0 up. With our late rally, had the officials been on the ball, we’d have come away with 3 points…!
Exactly..Dev
Totally agree Bob!
Tee hee 😀
I agree with you Rico, buh the team were very tooth less in the first half.
Wilshere needs dropped. IMO
Mediocrity performance. We need game changers.
I’m not going to be overly critical today, not now we have earned a point and knowing their second goal was offside.
We got battered there last season and today we drew.
Yes, there is plenty to learn from and hopefully we will but right now, I’m glad we showed a bit of grit to come back for a point.
Now go and beat the Turks on Wednesday and get a few more signings over the line….
English officials bent as a nine euro note will we ever get a break.
Small point if officials are cheating this much does it matter who we spend our money on.
Steven Naismith goes under the radar but he really is a slimey snake of a player!
Well done lads
Andy, maybe nerves after the game last season…
I said it once I ll say it again. Even a zizou pele and Maradona at their peak won’t win squat with us as long as assend is at the helm. I mean look at that second goal. Why push the full backs so deep into the opposition’s half. Everyone and their grand ma know that one ball over the top and arsenal is done. Maureen does this year after year right from after the invincible season to date. Now every manager in world football know how to beat us. I hate it when folks blame the players. We ve gone through some world class talent over the last decade. Rvp cesc ashavin sagna et al yet we won squat. It can’t be the players ladies and gentlemen. Give this same stuttering arsenal team to Martinez and watch him perform miracles. Arsene wenger needs to go. End of rant.
And Barry Bob.
Always been the same Goonerjoe!
Good point away at a tough place!
so Rico…..for the first 90 minutes you can put Potter’s comment as the match report……..
…..then simply report the last 5 minutes..
And Barry is a spud too Rico!
Everybody happy then…
I’m off for the day folks…
I’m not an expert at team selection, tactics and all other things. All I know is we dug in deep and got a point.
Wonder how many sides will do that at Goodison Park this season…
Night all…
Bt62……I am not happy. not by a loooooooooonggggg mile
Bob he’s a s**t too… 😉
Campbell’s control may have been off but he has vision , he needs a few more cameos and we will know.
Same here Dev. long season ahead, mate
rico, fingers crossed ‘splash the cash theory’ is still on !!!
Night Rico, have a good one…

lol
Good night Rico.
SaY what you like about the 2nd goal should have it should never have stood twice.
Night Rico.
The reason why we drew that match was becos Jw10 was substituted. I blame him for not making the initial tactics work.
The linesman who failed to give offside was also in a perfect position to see the foul on BFG. He was also really ugly so he’ll have to live with that!
I believe we saw one of the PL’s biggest scumbags today. Step forward Naismith, you cheating, injury feigning scumbag. Naismith had a week at Arsenal when he was playing for Rangers. Apparently he behaved like such a big-time Charlie Wenger sent him home. He had never forgotten it and takes every opportunity to cheat his way against us.
Another for the glue pot. Prick.
Adam – see my 7.33 re Naismith
Hiya Bob. Totally agree mate. And in that ref, he had the perfect foil. Every time he lost the ball and threw himself down that arsehole gave then a foul. I think he even got Chambers booked with virtually zero contact. Despicable player.
Wilshere was not even in the game today. he is one of the biggest ball hogs I ever saw. He looses the ball and does not keep it simple. He is like AW…..he persists in doing something which is clearly wrong hoping he can pull it off. Genius or idiot??? atm he looks the latter and is having a wrong effect on the team.
Adam……here is the answer to your comment on CC booking….
Hell Raising Devil says:
August 23, 2014 at 6:46 pm
why was CC booked??? he took the ball cleanly while the everton player fell over his own feet.
Wilshere is a huge, huge problem for Wenger Dev.
There’s no way any team can win a match the match officials made up their minds they won’t.
I’m shocked we’re not talking of terrible officiating against dear Gunners instead talking about balls over the top.
Wenger was right … the British press have brainwashed Arsenal fans!
Anyway. It’s a point. Night everyone….
Night, Adam
Night mate.
let’s spar a bit BT62
it was not offside 😉
lol, Dev, how can you spar, over what’s plain to see….lol
it was not offside 😉
come on mate….play the game…… 😉
Offside or not, it was all to easy, at times…
..it was not offside 😉
Common denominator 69 minutes against Palace , 74 today :- Wilshere goes off and Arsenal improve.
I know your joking but there are some things one should not joke about. 😉
On Wilshere may all so have been the quality of jacks replacement and fresh legs against a tiring team. also jack had a good game on Tuesday night let’s not have another Ramsey moment.
Joe I don’t have a problem with jack per se but it seems that he is not fitting the system. We are over passing and Jack seems to be getting caught and losing the ball . It’s all too congested and the approach is too slow , and I wonder if all is happy in his camp. It seems that as he was replaced he walked straight past Cazorla without the usual handshake or at least if he did it was extremely cursory.
we have a new conundrum in defence mates.
Remember…..TommyV did well with Per. Per did well with Kos. TommyV did not do well with Kos. So Per did well with both but the other two found it difficult to gel.
now…..Chambers gelled immediately with Kos. Kos ok with Per. But it seems that Chambers is going to find it difficult with Per. Today his level dropped a bit.
Do you think I am right or am I running before walking???
Potter. I love Jack but we have to face the reality; he is not up to par. His attitude needs some adjustments.
Dev. That’s make sense.
Dev. Maybe it just the first game between Per and Chambers. Maybe they’ll jell.
Dev, are they both right footed?
yes….both are right footed. But then so is Kos
I suppose credit where credit is due.
Going behind in two successive EPL games and taking 4 points from them…
Can Arsenal win the EPL….?
Not a chance….
Damn, how come OG12´s goal was counted… he is shite. 😛
I met some Ath Madrid fans who say they would take Og12 in a heart beat.. well I said I know folks who will swap Greizmann for Og12 without blinking…
well done boys..
said
Dev- without Per and CC21 playing together I suspected they wont work…
Per can´t play lhs of CB position..
you are right we have an issue.. but hey.
A solid improvement from last April..
Denilson needs to come back and give us one of his goals against Everton. 😛
Arsenal managed just four successful crosses in the match and scored from two of them.Olivier Giroud has scored five goals from just six headers on target since last season…
I guess it was a makeshift defence, two CBs who have never played together, one playing on the wrong side, a part’time left back & a new right back.
Morning all.
It’s always interesting reading back all comments after a game, and even more so after this particular game.
Here’s a quick rundown.
Before the game, it appears most would have been very happy with a draw.
During the first half Wenger was clueless, out managed and tactically inept.
Oh, and our players were crap.
Yes, the second goals absolutely offside, but we were outplayed.
Second half Giroud, that useles big lump, comes on, misses a few because he’s crap, but guess what…..we actually started creating opportunities, but I guess that had nothing at all to do with our managers tactics, nor Giroud himself, right?
We were a different side.
We snatched a late one that offered us all hope, but we needed more and we got more…..Giroud, that useles big lump, equalises and we get the result that, as previously mentioned, the vast majority would have accepted.
Now, everyone knows what I think of the absolutely one sided comments made on a daily basis by DNA, but what was extremely funny, and equally expected, was his total lack of presence in the second half,a seven the most blind fan could see, things chanced when Wenger made a tactical/strategic decision, Giroud came on and and we turned things around, so DNA would have had one of three choices……keep commenting about how bad Wenger is, and look ignorant and incredibly unintelligent in the process……come on and say Wenger got it right, but ego wouldn’t allow that….disappear into the shadows and hope Scott from Oz was not watching, but I was, and you have been outed AGAIN hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Aaron is nowhere near his best, but building towards it slowly.
Still, at the end of the day, I blame Wenger, Giroud and Arteta for that disgraceful result, the one we’d have nearly all taken before kick off 🙂 🙂
Now, saying all that, and enjoying every word of it, it makes me wonder what we’d have won by NOT with Giroud playing the entire game, but with a World class striker in the squad, and on the pitch.
Sanchez is not a lone striker……maybe not even a striker, time will tell…..Giroud did damn well, but we could be even better with a Falcao/Cavani, so Arsene, go get one.
Scott, your always moaning… 😉
Night All
Congrats Scott, u finally get the dial-up Internet to work. Just remember that it was Everton FC we came from behind to draw with, a team that have a quarter of our budget. You always running your mouth but I will only entertain you if I can hold you accountable when you wag your third tongue. Shit can get real if you find the cash to come to Disney, because obliviously you have a problem which can be solved easily. 300+ comment & you think you have rights to call me out, just go & make your money little duffle bag boy. Dude your are senile, avoid me I don’t do guys.
Scott – Thanks for the laughs. I really enjoyed your 2:24 am post. LOL, for someone who is ‘always wrong’, you got it spot on.
It is not only Arsene who can’t change his spots, it seems some of our fellow posters can’t either. Giroud is constantly slated, yet many of the proposed alternate players stats are little better, but they do score some more attractive/stylish goals. That extra flourish is nice, but I’ll take the goal any way as long as it counts.
Some of Arsene’s choices were obviously made with Wedenesday’s must win UCL game in mind (e.g. playing Chambers instead of Koscielny). On to Wednesday.
DNA, dial up??
Sorry mate, I’m from a civilised part of the world where we don’t require weapons to solve issues, we use intelligence and logic, something you’ll never understand hahahaha.
Shit can get real?
There you have it….put your slingshot away 🙂
Cash…well, who needs cash?
I mean, I hitchiked to the Emirates recently…you should sell your cache and head over……….tell Arsene what he’s doing wrong.
CG, whether we like it or not, Giroud is the best we have.
He’s good, but not great.
He’s not shit.
Did we see Costa’s goal??
Seriously, his first touch was worst than anything I’ve seen from Sanogo, but as luck would have it, and it was luck, he scored.
Terrible goal……he will struggle and I’ll tip Giroud to out score him this season, unless of course we get a WC guy in.
Scott – I was hoping to see young Chambers playing one the two pivots in front of the BFG and Koscielny. He seems to read the game well and has the pace to make up the ground on an opposition counter attack. Oh well maybe we’ll see that Wednesday.
As for Giroud, he does the job he was acquired for, to be a target man to receive the ball and play it or lay it off to one of our other offensive players. He is more the old Alan Smith style of forward, not a Henry or van Purestrings.
I’m off to make dinner. Catch you tomorrow my time, evening same day your time?
CG! I wonder f chambers was bought for that exact purpose.
Giroue will never score 30 goals, but he will have plenty and more assists than your normal CF, so I still say he’s value.
Enjoy dinner mate….talk soon.
Morning all,
I reckon there were too many changes yesterday and too many not my job players.
I’m pretty sure Wenger had one eye on Wednesday, but come one it’s early in the season, they’re not fatigued.
I seriously doubt Chambers trained much with Merts and his pace is difficult to compliment.
I don’t think Everton was the team to experiment with Sanchez up front especially because Giroud loved scoring past them last season. Like Sonogo, Sanchez will be better suited up front against the big teams that offer space in behind.
Sorry to the glass half full supporters, Wilshere has learnt nothing from Ramsey’s situation and I see Ox ahead of him. Flamini for me is a waste of a number on the field as he offers nothing in helping the defence.
Bradster, I doubt many would disagree with your revision , but we didn’t play well yet for a result, so still half full for me 🙂
Leicester next week is a must win, then the interlull and regroup.
The extra time with our squad together plus extra fitness should see us improve, and one or two new signings might top us up.
Hey Scott,
I agree and hope it’s just rustiness. Leicester looked good in their 2 games, I think it will be a tough game.
Some positives yesterday was Cazorla, Giroud moving better and Campbell looked positive and worked hard.
Our fb’s will love Campbell and Sanchez in front of them.
Bradlop, I thought Campbell looked ok, certainly not out of his depth but we need to see more.
He does track back and work though, and Sanchez is just a workhorse.
Plenty of positives, I reckon, but plenty of improvement required.
Apparently Giroud is injured anyone confirm it?
Hi Lee, I heard that but no confirmation yet.
Good Morning Baby Looney Tunes.
2 goals in the past three games….2 of them from the subs bench…..and people still hammer OG12.
He leads the line, racks up assists ……gets on the scoresheet….some people will not be satisfied even if Ronaldo was our CF and scores 3 every game.
Devil, I honestly believe people blame him for the fact he’s our best forward option.
Yes, there are better out there, but it’s hardly his fault.
We were a completely different side when he came on.
I have been banging on about Sanchez up front, but he definitely can’t lead the line.
Morning Rico and Lee. Wired stuff on here overnight.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28915947
Imagine how good we’d be with a world class CF?
Adam, we need to keep things lively as it’s so quiet hahaha.
Lee, Wenger has plenty to do, no doubt.
And a world class DM, Lee 🙂
I think we are done now at CB.
Chambers can do the job and even the little we’ve seen of Nacho says he can do it at a pinch.
Even more so when a top DM is in front of them.
Yes Scott. I get that, but why would someone post a video of a well-known Arsenal fan offering an emotionally charged opinion outside a ground just to ridicule him on HH? Is that what this site is for, to demean those who travel to matches and spend a fortune in doing so, because of their views? Ask Rico. I doubt she would agree with it and I don’t either. It’s all part of the same old. “I told you so” culture. I said recently that hindsight is always 20/20. Being the big wise man after the event makes people look foolish and snide for me. Last night’s performance by the team or individuals has done nothing to change my mind about where we are or how well or I’ll equipped we are for this season.
Sorry… ill equipped.
Fucking odd thing to do?!?!
Happy birthday Michael Thomas!
For anyone who suffers with or knows someone who does suffer with Bipolar, I apologise for the crass comments made overnight in relation to the illness.
And to the fan in the video whom was suggested to be a Bipolar sufferer
Both comments have now been removed and neither reflect the view of anyone here on HH other than Tsgh, who posted them.
Morning Adam, Lee, Scott, Devil, Bradster, bradlop and all….
Adam, fair call and i do agree with you….I thought were touching on the “handbags at five paces” between myself and DNA, so apologies there.
As I said this morning, I’m still glass half full, but we do need two top players, I believe.
No excuses will be accepted.
For the record, I can honestly say I did not see the video.
Morning Rico.
Morning Rico. I get that Scott. There is no harm in a bit of banter as you and I both know too well 🙂
Ts, you are now in moderation as I want to make sure a repeat of last nights comments don’t happen again. Your comments will be moderated to ensure it doesn’t.
It’s not the video Scott, it’s the comment attached to it.. Had a Bipolar sufferer read the comment, I am sure he or she would be very offended.
There’s humour and there’s ridiculing a serious illness. The latter, I really find offensive.
Anyway, dealt with now….
Rico, I didn’t see that either…..honestly.
Adam, how true 🙂
Di Maria to Utd for £60 million??? Crazy…
But Rico, he is a great player, sometimes and they are desperate to get him. I wish he was coming our way. Not to replace Giroud though, who is excellent. 🙂
Dear oh dear, it is getting a bit heated on here…
I blame Mick…
Morning All
Morning Rico, great post… 😉
He’s a great player Adam, but £60 million, even City said no to that figure. According to the papers…
tired today, early work after plenty of stress last night – sticking to my guns Sanchez is not a striker and credit to Wenger for changing the approach, we missed it in the first half – Everton have fitness issues Leicester and us are proof and we took advantage of that – as Scott said, I’d have settled for 2-2 before the start and certainly at half time – still feel we further away than a lot think and i am worried those signings will not happen AGAIN.
Morning Kev, you been peeping again… 😉
Di Maria to Old Bog?
Wath will not be a happy man…
I know he usually isn’t anyway, but losing Di Maria to that shower is gonna seriously piss him off..,
Rico, moi? 🙂
Leicester are a tough nut to crack, it ain’t gonna be easy up there…
We might have to settle for another draw, especially coming off the back of Besiktas.
We will roll Leicester 🙂
i think so too Scott
Oz, I agree Sanchez isn’t our striker, go and fucking buy a good pacey one!!
As long as Giroud plays, hey Oz 🙂
Not with a £60m price tag Kev, Wath will think that’s ott and it is..
They are desperate though so are there to be ripped off..
Just seen MotD…
Everton’s 2nd goal, foul on BFG, then a clear off-side…
Linesman had clear view and bottled it…
Considering that it was only highlights, I’d say that Arsenal should have won…
Rico. Surely Man City baulked because they are well stocked and FFP. Like all things in life, players are worth what some are prepared to pay for them. I have watched the divine Angel through his career and like many great players, he is a cheat and inconsistent. Not as big a cheat as Naismith though. Funny how no report even mentions his on-field dishonesty or the fact that Giroud’s goal shouldn’t have stood. If we had conceded that we would be hopping mad. And that gawky linesman missing the offside. I like the fact that we kept focus for the second half and maintained our play. I also noted Martinez going on about lack of fitness. Tell you what gobby, take your team to Turkey midweek, let them get back home in the early hours and them travel a couple of hundred miles to play away and see how they do then. I also note that he has had some Botox too. 🙂
Great work by Mknreal to keep the ball in play, then a great cross for the winner…
Santi pug in a delicious low cross for Ramsay, who always arrives late into the box…
Two very good goals….
Hmm, feel a lot better about that result…
Fitness is a definate issue.
I think we’ll only get better as the players fitness improves.
🙂 Adam.
Giroud’s goal was good….
Kev. You’re not wrong. Giroud had three really good chances before he scored. It’s wrong to make too many judgements this early but there are going to need to some things addressed soon-ish. Jack, Ozil and Alexis’ positions. The CB options too etc, etc. but no doubt it’s the same at most clubs.
Rico. Yes, a nicely planted header, but a foul nonetheless. 🙂
To be fair to the BFG/Chambers combo, it was the first time they’d played together…
BFG will soon be ‘up to speed’ Adam…
Chambers looks a real find…
I really like that kid. A proper footballer.
If Giroud’s goal was a foul, then that makes even better to me…
Evens up Lukaku’s foul for Everton’s 2nd…
Kev. I just hope Arsene doesn’t burn him out and use him to fill gaps where he should really be buying a specialist for the position.
Good Morning to the Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.
The Di Maria deal, if it goes through at £60m, shows how desperate ManUre are. They are desperate to get back into the cash cow that is the European Champions League and I understand that the big kit deal they signed with Adidas has performance related payouts.
£60m for Di Maria and £32m? for the young left back from Sotton, not to mention his wages, shows their desperation. If they succeed, it may be worth it; if they don’t, they could find themselves in serious default of the FFP guidelines.
Agree Adam, likewise Ramsey, these guys need to be taken better care of…
Forsythe has a big job on his hands…
Kev 😉
As for Sanchez, he needs time, and our patience…
Eventually he’ll be a sensation…
Likewise Wilshere, he is still getting over 2+ years of niggling, sustained injuries…
It takes time…
It took Ramsey two years to fully recover.
We have to be patient with Jack as well.
IMHO….
CG. Man Utd have such a mega income I doubt that will be a concern.
I liked it yesterday when on Sky Sports, Stelling announced that Welbeck could be sold but Man U said that they wouldn’t sell him to a top 6 side. Then Charlie Nicholas says ” But Man Utd aren’t a top six side”. Lovely.
Dam, there could equally have been a penalty for us when Giroud was manhandled during a set piece….that evens it out 🙂
I don’t care Adam… 😉
Sorry Adam……….
Nor do I Rico. But, you know how scrupulous I am when it comes to the rules. 🙂
Next week is gonna be a big week…
Points/CL and transfers…
Lata
Scott. For what mate?
Kev – I agree with your “As for Sanchez, he needs time, and our patience…”. New team in a new league; it will take time to get familiar with his team mates and their respective styles of play far less the rigours of the BPL.
The one big positive about his play yesterday was his willingness to track back and get stuck in helping the defense. He is not afraid of hard work or a tough tackle.
For calling you Dam lol.
Scott. What’s an A between friends? 🙂
I was just thinking that you should know there’s an N on the end of damn. 🙂
Hahahahaha.
Adam – Yes, “Man Utd have such a mega income I doubt that will be a concern…”. However, a lot of that income was derived from the UCL and a lot of their commercial deals are commensurate with their recent on field performances. An extended period outside of the top four places and the resultant participation in the UCL could see those deals and sales of their club branded merchandise diminish in value.
Kev – big week on the cards, fingers crossed. Balancing account we have mega bucks – surely we can invest in some squad depth
CG. Like all right thinking Arsenal fans I can only hope that the worst befalls that lot. 🙂
Morning Cg.
🙂 Adam and I love Charlie Nic…..
Scott – No need for Wikipedia or the other online dictionaries. We have Adam.
Woops, I better watch it or he will be calling me or accusing me of something I’ll have to look up in one of those online references.
Adam – It is good to see the Manchester United juggernaut misfire and stall. If we are lucky, and they are not (hope, hope), it might grind to a shattering halt.
As long as he keeps putting crap on Yanited, we will let him slide, hey CG 🙂
New post up now…
