Two days before Arsenal sign Europe’s hottest prospect? Gazidis on new manager hunt, identifies three candidates..

Morning all.

Well that was a quiet old day yesterday, a bit like so many really. I guess that’s what Arsene Wenger and the board too for being so soft, have done to us over a long period of time. Fans don’t want to go to The Emirates to watch the team and the Arsenal websites which used to be full Arsenal optimism and hope, are full of negativity, disappointment, anger and even hatred for the manager. All of which is totally understandable, to me anyway. The really frustrating thing is, there’s very little we can do about it, certainly on places like here. Those who are expressing themselves by staying at home instead of hoping on the underground on a match day will hopefully make some kind of difference to the boards thinking but to make sure Arsene Wenger leaves this summer, the pressure needs ramping up but just how any of do that, I don’t know. The Emirates might only be three quarters full these days but Wenger still believes that’ll change as the results improve. You and I though know that’s poppycock. It’s not the results, it’s the football we are playing which is keeping the fans away. It’s Arsene Wenger keeping the fans away, well, apart from those who still believe he’s the right man for the job.

The much maligned Stan Kroenke, toothless as he and his merry men are, should be mightily concerned over the picture a partially empty stadium is portraying and if he really is all about the money, then surely he’ll be fretting about the ticket sales in a few months time. Spending £60m on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang whilst passing on a similar amount for Alexis Sanchez though doesn’t really convince me that his only interest is making money. Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather we had a more ruthless owner and I’d rather that person wasn’t an American too, but the only way the fans will return is if the football we play is different. Better obviously and it’s hard to believe any other manager out there could do worse with the players we have at the club.

Until the day Wenger goes which will hopefully be this summer, it feels like we’ve just got to accept what we watch is how it will be. Either that or don’t bother watching at all which to be honest, seems the better option. Trouble is though, Arsenal FC is what matters, the club itselft and the team, not Arsene Wenger and we’ll never turn our back on the club. This debacle won’t go on forever, nothing does and one day not so far away, the massive cloud which hangs over The Emirates will lift and the sunshine will again shine bright. We’ve just got to be patient, which is a lot easier to say than do. Pff!

Whilst the managerial rumours and speculation continue to hit the headlines, so do transfer rumours and Robert Navarro, the Barcelona 15 year old who every club seems to be after, is tipped to join us. In two days time he’ll turn 16 years old and he’s free to choose his next destination. Barca have offered him a new deal, but at the time of writing he’s not signed it. Now if that news down’t get you excited, nothing will. lol

Not excited? Well how about the headline on NN from The Daily Cannon who report that Arsenal, well, Ivan Gazidis is looking to replace Wenger with one of Pellegrini, Ancelotti or Tuchel. Dearie me, that’s old news isn’t it?

Reiss Nelson being close to signing a new Arsenal contract isn’t though and that’s really good news imo. Like the other youngsters and oldies, all he needs is a better manager and a new team of coaches to learn from….

Finally, it seems people are having trouble loading HH. I’m on it, honest. I haven’t a clue what I’m doing, but I’m doing it….!

Kroenke is not toothless, he’s choosing not to bite though! Hopefully young Josh is sharpening his teeth prior to 31st May..ST renewal deadline.

As I read your piece the music from Carousel came to mind , as we go endlessly round and round until the music stops . I don’t know how you come up with a fresh topic so often , congratulations albeit that’s another song altogether and one we are probably unlikely to hear in the near future . Unless of course.

    Bob, welcome.

I say toothless because he won’t sack Wenger.

Thanks potter. Nothing wrong with a bit of Cliff..

Good news Rick, I’m not surprised, is was nothing really…

First it’s Reiss Nelson, then it’s Mo Elneny, I guess we’ll be hearing from Bristol Street Motors next, the good news just gets better and better…

A post full of hope rico.?
I have watched young Alexander Arnold the dippers right back over the last two games and I have to say iam very impressed. . really showing maturity and intelligence .
He handled the tricky and impressive Sane extremely well in the1st leg and again tonight so far
That’s what good coaches do for young prospects .
Bellend on the other hand is getting worse by the day. .
If things don’t change at arsenal Nelson and co have no hope imo

I make that 3 defeats in a week for Pep and some still have the gall to want Wegner out, you don’t know what you have until it’s gone !

Having said that, winning the league at Wembley would be a lickle bit special wouldn’t it.

    Dramatic Night at the Emms.
Our u23’s have beaten Villerreal 4-3 on pens and are
in the final of the International Cup.
They have done it without Eddy and Reiss , they were in the stands watching. Why???

  8. Kk says:

Micko it would be 4 defeats in a row I reckon. .I have to say the dippers have been very clinical. .they have good chance to win the big ears cup now barca are out!
Good time in scouse land ?

    . What’s not worth watching?

The ones in our goal which seem to increase the better the teams we play against. Look at the goals against column of the top 7 in the table . Then realise that with a bit of defensive organisation we could be so much higher than 6th and looking over our shoulders at 7th.
Sure going forward at times we are fun to watch but going backward ?? No wonder so many are tearing their hair out.

    Morning Adam, Potter, all.

I thought City would turn it around but it seems they’ve hit a bit of a wall…

I think there are fans who just see the goals we score and little else…

  11. potter says:

Had the disallowed goal taken it to 2 nil at half time I think it may well have been different..
it seems that there is little love lost between Guardiola and the Spanish referee. I wonder if his stance on Catalan indepedence has anything to do with it. Friends in Sant Pere seem to think it has.

  12. Adam says:

Rico. Very true. I think that, to some extent, they got fitted up by the refs in the last 3 games. How Ashley Young didn’t concede 2 penalties and get sent off is a mystery as was Herrera’s continued presence on the field after his fouling and simulation throughout the game. Similar to as Mane’s ‘lucky’ escapes last night. As we know only too well, you get some decisions and lose others but there’s something else going on there.
Elneny’s red rescinded but it was actually given by Mike Dean from the sidelines apparently, telling that dud Atkinson that it was a straight red. But Dean is a special case in point all by himself where Arsenal are concerned.

  13. allezkev says:

It’s very telling that neither Dean or Atkinson are going to the World Cup, the standard of refereeing is the lowest I can recall in a long time, VAR can’t come about soon enough for all its glitches…

Man City could have done with VAR last evening but UEFA aren’t keen, the whiff of corruption is stinking the place out….

  14. rico says:

    Can’t disagree there Adam.

To think it still goes on in this age is terrible. I know VAR has it’s issues to be ironed out but it can’t be worse than watching the officials make mistakes time after time. Costly ones too.

  15. Kk says:

To be fair to the Spanish referee I think it was his assistant who flagged for the offside. .
when he whistled for half-time Pep got in the pitch and apparently said few things to his face and he got himself sent to the stands. .
think the tie was lost in the first leg and couldn’t imagine any sort of comeback. .
Then again Barca thought they got it in the bag. .
Be afraid arsenal. .be afraid ?

  16. Joaquim Moreira says:

The Daily Cannon is away from the reality.
Gazidis is here and is question of details for me to be, the new coach of Arsenal. 🙂
Did you understand why Guardiola lost yesterday?
He changed the tactical disposition of the 1ª part to 2ª, placing it as it had done in the first hand. I did not notice. If it did not work, why did you come back to the same error?
It consisted basically of pulling back Fernandinho, playing with almost 3 centers and advancing Walker. The red ones felt more comfortable, because from there they gained the midfield, something that had not happened in the first part with the advantage of Fernandinho and Walker as right defense.
Yes, there was one goal that was barely void, but probably if he had kept the initial tactic, he would have had another result.
Conclusion: A bit like AW. Always insist on playing the same way regardless of the opponent (who already know how to play)

  17. Le Coq Monster says:

I`d give JM the job just because he has an exotic football manager sounding name and posts in a Portugal accent !……………plus his tactical talk is confusing so it must be good !
    🙂
