Morning all.
How sweet was it to see Jose Mourinho and his team on the end of a 4-0 battering by Chelsea? I loved it and hope it’s the first of a few the under tall man from Portugal suffers. Utd were awful, they defended like school boys which is so unlike a team coached by Mr Defensive.
Anyway, what’s more important is Arsenal. Our performances and our results and Saturday afternoon it was a case of ‘been there, seen it all before’ and far too often but hopefully this was just a blip. It’s not like we didn’t have many chances to score, we just couldn’t take them, unlike we did just a few days before in the Champions League. Maybe the performance on Wednesday contributed to the lacklustre display on Saturday, maybe it’s a sign that little has changed. The next few weeks will tell us more but if Arsene doesn’t sort out the way we defend as a team, we could be in trouble.
Tomorrow night we face Reading in the League Cup and I suspect Arsene Wenger will make many changes allowing plenty of rest for those with tired legs and give Santi Cazorla another week to recover from injury.
Before then though the AGM takes place this morning and because of it, the training session will now take place later in the day. No big deal I’d have thought.
On the agenda could be season tickets and the fans who have them, but don’t turn up.
Arsenal Supporters Trust spokesman Tim Payton told the Telegraph:
If someone is only using the ticket a few times a year then they should be warned and after that they should lose their priority for the next season.
It is a win-win to get this sorted. More people on a match-day means new fans and extra revenue in other areas but, crucially, it would also improve the atmosphere and benefit the team.
If Arsenal are concerned only with making money then the board won’t be bothered how many ticket holders actually attend. If they’re interested in the atmosphere within the ground and in encouraging the next generation of young fans to become regulars then this issue should be a major concern.
They’ll always be occasions when football fans can’t get to see their team play on match day. Weddings, anniversaries, parties and sickness to name just a few but it is a shame to see so many empty seats on a match day.
Mind you, having watched the same old dross being served up week after week, season after season, must leave fans wondering if it’s worth all the time and effort on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon or an evening during the week when the weather is dreadful and it’s cold, really cold!
But one day, Arsene will be no longer, the football will improve and Arsenal will start winning things again – must be in thoughts of many of the fans who choose not to attend for footballing reasons alone and after Saturday, the doubts over our season must be creeping back in. That’s if they ever truly left in the first place but I don’t think fans should be banned for not turning up. It’s their ticket, they paid for it and they can do what they like with it although the best thing imo would be to give it to someone else and let them go…
According to The Telegraph, other issued being raised today will be:
- The future of Arsene Wenger.
- The contract situations of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Hector Bellerin. Some shareholders remains fearful of a repeat of the Samir Nasri and Robin van Persie and Cesc Fabregas departures.
- Directors will be asked to consider the reintroduction of safe-standing and asked if they would support the ‘rail seating’ that has been introduced in Germany and at Celtic.
- The club will be asked to justify and explain a salary and bonus package during 2015-16 to the chief executive Ivan Gazidis of £2.6 million.
- Shareholders will request progress on the club’s commercial deals following news of a new shirt sponsorship and kit deal at Chelsea that is reportedly worth £100 million a year.
What would you like to ask the manager/board if you could?
Have a good Monday guys…
Cazorla is the “cornerstone” of the team.
After Champions the scores of the teams usually weren’t very good
Morning Rico and all. It sounds like another tedious merry-go-round of spiel and propaganda to me.
One of the best comments on SS’s this morning while talking about the Mourinho and Conte spat.
‘I think Mourinho is the last person to give advice on etiquette, this is the man who poked a guy in the eye and slid the length of the pitch at OT…..
Or something like that…
Morning Adam. Me too…
At the moment Mourinho looks like a putrid, decaying and psychotic pile of guano crumbling beneath the weight of his own delusion who is reaping what he has sown for so many years.
Isn’t he just. I really hope he fails big time.
Adam, I’m not sure what that means, but it sounds right 🙂
Morning all.
The delight of watching that spiteful, disrespectful baby as he yet again threw his toys out of the pram was joyous. He is a stain on the Premier League and hopefully it is only a matter of time before this puffed up pretender leaves for good. When it all went pear shaped at Chelsea it was because he had been called on to actually use his coaching skills rather than money to get him some results. Predictably, he could not.
That day will be a very good day Db…
I have a plumber working in my house this week, he’s a Utd fan… 🙂
London born and bred then Rico!
My turn!
I do hope that Sir Bobby Charlton is marching round the Board Room telling all his fellow Board members, “I told you so!” With ref to the poisonous Pygmy! The classless little shit is behaving true to type, gracelessly and searching for his Teflon tablets! Long may his pain remain! Still, what goes round comes round. Or, as Rico will tell you ‘chickens always come home to roost!’.
Whilst we didn’t have the best of results, we at least have a manager with a sense of proportion and it would seem a sense of humour, his need for drink amused me, anyway.
Morning all. A bit dull this morning.
East Berks I think Db… 😉
Was that in his after match interview Wavy when he said about needing a drink? I hadn’t heard that..
If he needed a drink, what hope sis there for us fans.. 😉
Yes it was. I don’t think he drinks Cava or Italian bottled lager! He’s more of a fine wine man! On his earnings who wouldn’t be?
I’m not sure what’s happened to the old chap just lately. I feel his doctor has put him on ‘happy pills’ of some sort, he has seemed quite relaxed all season, so far. Not at all like the chased anxious, tetchy person he was, last season. He just doesn’t seem so worried.
In direct contrast to the piosonous Pygmy, who I’m happy to say looks very close to the edge to me, just as he did this time last year, and we all know how that ended………I do hope it ends badly for him! (Sooner rather than later.)
I’d have thought with his bank balance, Champagne would be the way to go. Not that he has much to celebrate really, not yet…
Kroenke on Wenger:
“Also in a world of great scrutiny and pressure you’ve always handled yourself with class.
Hi all
Think the most worrying thing about Saturday was the amount of chances we allowed against one of the most impotent attacks in the league. This in an alarming pattern in our home games with only the Chavs failing to create at least four good chances against us.
Hi Bob, didn’t most of the attacks come down our left side?
Very true Rico.
Our lhs is beginning to resemble the days we had Arshavin operating as a left winger huffing and puffing attempting to cover Clichy. lol
Afternoon All
Arsene in form:
At least you can have a drink on your birthday. When you win you deserve it, when you don’t you need it.
Not sure we have changed that much now,
We were lucky against Burnley,Swansea,Boro plus dropping 5pts
at the start.
All of a sudden we are The Arsenal of the last 10 years again.
The squad looks big enough and fit enough now.
Prehaps the best thing to do is take Arsene’s advice.
Win or Lose get on the Booze.
True ts, if we have a glaring weakness, it’s our lhs. Iwobi is typical arsenal creation/player. All offensive and lacking in defence and Monreal is being outplayed alot…
Xhaka had to rush into the tackle cause he knew Monreal was MIA…
A thinking out of the box rant !……………..The Chavs Matic say`s the Arsenal defeat has helped them !……….thank`s a lot Arsenal for humilating the Chavs !, bloody typical, they will now go on and win the league and it`s our fault !…….couldn`t we have just got a a lucky flukey win in the dying seconds after being outplayed for 89 mins !…….why did we have to wipe the floor with them and not get lucky like against Swansea, Burnley and the lucky draw on Saturday !………………mark my words !……….we will look back on destroying the Chavs come the end of May with a sense of guilt !
I now hope that we dont destroy Manshafter and Spuds and only graft out lucky wins……..you know it makes sense !. 😉
I`m now going to go on Arsenal Player and re-watch the game against the Chavs and boo the glorious footballing lesson we handed out to them !.
lol, le coq. I hope we destroy every team and have them destroy each other
Sissoko banned for 3 matches !………will miss the NLD, which is good for him as he can cheer on the team he loves instead of playing against them !.
Love to see Sissoko and Kane up the North Bank singing we hate Totnumb !.
No Marshall !………………..that`s not the right attitude !……..we dont want to destroy teams and piss them off so that they then start winning games !……it`s like a bad Karma sort of thing ! ………………..we have to be fcuking lucky instead !. 😉
Good re Sissoko, the FA had little choice really..
Evening guys…
I thought that Wenger was out of his seat and looking anxious and very much on edge as we slid towards a draw.
He was Dick…
So was I Rico. 🙂
Obi- Iwobi was doing extremely well defensively when he broke through… He needs to check his ego me think…
saying that have you noticed, Monreal has become the most attacking FB.. especially with Theo playing ahead of young Bellerin
And the only England player on the Ballon D`or is…………………………………….Jamie Vardy !
I wouldn`t say that Bobby Moore is turning in his grave………………more like creased up in stiches !
🙂 Adam
Seriously LC?
Yep !
Reserves to play Manshafter tonight……………#AFCU23 to play @ManUtd: Keto, Johnson, Da Graca, Pileas, Dasilva, Bennacer, McGuane, Dragomir, Hinds, Mourgos, Nketiah
No Martinez, Mavididi, Bielik, Zelalem, C Willock, Maitland – Niles or Jeff !…………..is that a clue to some of tomorrow night`s team Vs Reading ?
No Sheaf or Bola either !
Or Reiss Nelson ! 🙂
What a joke re Vardy!
I think Arsene said today that we might see one or two we’ve never seen before tomorrow night….
I have Aiden Turner on my planner, so night all…. ?
Have a good evening…..
Losing 1-0 after 5mins
Expect big loss.
After 70mins still 1-0. 8 of our team are from the U18s and if this is the best utd can do they are as bad as their first team.
Finished 1-0 Could have been better with a stronger team
Wonder if we’ll be saying that later Rick….
Morning all.
Morning Rico and all..
Is our match on anywhere tonight?
Morning Bt, sadly not.
Some searching to be done before KO.
Let me know please if you find a good link… 🙂
New post up now.
