Transfer talks today. Jenks gone & Atletico Madrid President confirms Santi Cazorla interest is untrue….

Morning all.

Did you know that on this  day in 1999, when we beat Man U 2-1 in the Community Shield at Wembley, with Kanu & Parlour both scoring? Of course you did….

Next weekend of course, we face the other Manchester side in the same Cup, a day which should show us fans just how much better prepared we are for the season ahead. I wouldn’t bet against us getting one over City and kick the new season off with another big trophy in the cabinet..

Legend....
Legend….

On this day 34 years ago, the club sold Liam Brady to Juventus. What a player he was, what a sad day that was…

Once a selling club, always a selling club. No, not any more it seems…..

Carl Jenkinson has gone though, he’s packed his bags and left for a season at West Ham, I hope it’s a good one for him. Playing week in, week out will do him the world of good. I wish him well. There is apparently an option to buy Jenks if the Hammers want to keep him and we want to sell him but I hope this time next year he’s back for all the right reasons.

So, big news broke yesterday evening.

Arsenal have opened talks with Porto over a deal for Colombia midfielder Juan Quintero.

The 21-year-old’s agent Maria Elena Chavarro tweeted:

Today @juanferquinte10 travelled to England to sign a contract with Arsenal who are paying 20m Euros (around £15.8m) to FCPorto, congratulations!

However, another of Quintero’s representatives, Ricardo Calleri said:

Porto never talked to negotiate Juan Quintero. Sure there are clubs interested, there is much interest in the player, the clubs in Spain and England, but to leave would be one willing to pay the termination clause of the club (€40m).

€40m for a 21 year old, surely not!

This story may be true, it may not but it has of course raised the level of expectation in the press that Santi Cazorla would have to make way for the young player and Atletico Madrid will be his destination.

No it won’t, not according to Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo:

Many names have been mentioned, but none of those players, neither Cazorla, Callejon, Torres nor Chicharito [Hernandez] are on our agenda. If we sign another player, it won’t be any of them.

Then of course we have the Sami Khedira story which rumbles and rumbles on. The latest suggests that Real Madrid don’t want him to leave for free next summer and they are desperate for us to sign him. I’d quite like this to be true and we snap him up, him and Carvalho in the midfield would be quite exciting wouldn’t it because let’s not forget that those press darlings have said we are favourites to sign the latter after Sprtin Lisbon confirmed they are willing to sell him……

Love it, I laugh, that’s the best way to deal with some of the stories published….

Let’s just sit, wait and see who really does get snapped up this month – it’s clear Wenger and Gazidis have a plan, just enjoy watching it unfold.

Forget all the gossip and other stuff made up by agents and media. It’s all a game to them, they think it’s funny but reality is, the agents are trying to muster up a way of getting their client more money and the journalists are just trying to sell newspapers.

Mind you, did I tell you Arsenal are going to sign………….

That’s it for another day, have a good one all..

Who are we going to sign Rico???? I do not think you told us!!!

    Good post.

    40mill for a 21 year old????

    Too much imo

  2. tsgh says:

brief and to the point; I enjoyed reading that…

Its typical of those clubs to place release clauses in the contracts of their sth American imports…

I am on my third browser this morning… wordpress???

  3. Bt62 Gooner says:

Rico, like you say “sit back, relax and watch it all unfold”. Quintero 40m no chance… Morning all.

  4. Sukky says:

Morning all.Just watch our match against
Boreham,Le coq wasn’t bad as most of you here
said he is.Le coq got almost everything
    right,tackles,long passes,Song-esque passes to
    sanogo,positioning,just name it.I think if he didn’t
leave this summer,he will be impressive.Better
than flamini IMO.And why is sanogo is in †̥ђƺ first
team,Akpom is way better than him, that lad is like
a young TH14.I got to see that penalty incident
agaisnt, this guy is better than sanogo in all
    area.Bellerin,Olsson and toral were very
impressive.I will choose Bellerin over jenkinson
    anytime.

  5. c2hills says:

It may have been excellent, as always, but I wanted Bowerbird Mac II. Does that make me a 21yr old kid?

  6. tsgh says:

    Rick if you are about?

Spanoudakis has opted for VFb Stuttgart… shame he looked good in his appearance.

Vfb want Serge. I guess the loan rules only apply to this league.

  7. Sukky says:

I think we won’t sign another player until Wenger access his team very well and know what they lack.If you’re going to sign any player its going to be deadline hour.com.

  8. tsgh says:

Re the youth side u-21; there were 22 sides in the reserve/youth U21 league and we finished 14th. Olsson may want a short term loan or even a loan to Eredivisie… that will leave Toral and Crowley… will that be strong enough to win back promotion into division 1.

I wonder if Hayden would want a loan move too… we do not want another Boateng going on loan too early or being too good for reserves but not good enough for regular top tier football.

  9. Luznic says:

Morning Rico and gentlemen, the ITK took over twitter yesterday and even though I loved what I saw from Quintero playing against the Ivory coast in the world cup and that goal was a sweet one, I won’t have him at the expense of Cazorla, Adam yesterday changed the face of this blog that post yesterday was just………..indescribable…….. I loved it more again when I saw it was a dig at Mourinho……never mind khedira will be begging us to have his signature soon

  10. tsgh says:

true Sukky. the plan I guess was to have 3 or four now and then 2 maximum in August if needed depending on availability and unplanned injury…

  11. tsgh says:

Bt. most 50-50 currently…. the mother in law wants to go ton Hever Castle…

If I can ‘weasel out’ of it then… yes!

  12. tsgh says:

Sukky. you would expect Le Coq to play well against Boreham wood though with all due respect.lol

I agree with a bit of positional training he could be better than Flamini… I am sure he will get the odd game here and there…

My ball tells me Yaya will score his first goal this weekend.

  13. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Morning Rico, Dev, Ts, Sukky, c2, Bt, All…

    Great post, Rico.

You love the KISS rule about writing and that’s a crafty art on its own.

I’d be the happiest if this JQ story fizzles out as another of their goofs. Even if he was the original Messi I wouldn’t swap him with SC19. An ambidextrous player like Carzola comes once in a decade…and I hope he retires at Arsenal.

  14. tsgh says:

Rico… re 10:46.. Micko might have a different view. 😛

Bt. she keeps saying I watch too much football …

As you would expect.. I have to come back with something..

I asked her why she thought her bf spent all his spare time on the golf course instead of with her? lmfao…

Needless to say what her response was…

  15. rico says:

Morning Tai, or am I being rude calling you that?

Thanks re the post, I do like to keep it simple, it’s the only way I know.. lol

chills, English please otherwise I can’t understand, sorry…

  16. tsgh says:

Hi tai… I like Quintero but there are priorities and there are luxuries…

In my view Quintero is a luxury…

  17. Luznic says:

Tai sometimes I wonder why we always share the same opinion, do you leave next door to me…….lol so C2hills is naija too

  18. Luznic says:

we are not signing Quintero Ts someone just throws his name in the mix and makes a supermarket shopping coach aware of his availability not Arsene anyway, we wait on Khedira and NOT Cavarlho

  19. c2hills says:

We could field an entire eleven of attacking midfielders, not sure we’ll sign another one. Could be wrong though, we’re talking about AW here.

  20. tsgh says:

As the season approaches, I need to realign back to the AKB side… 😉

    So I thought I would post this…

    Mata + Fellaini + Shaw + Herrera £125M
    Ozil + Sanchez + Debuchy + CC21 less than £100

Who said 4th was not a trophy.. Yanited have told LvG that 4th or bust…

So Liverpool and Yanited arguably the 2 most successful clubs in England want the coveted 4th place…
Hmm, I thought the media said 4th was a waste of a season…

I guess AW is still the best at what he does…

  21. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Yeah, Luznic…you see no matter what, orientation is the biggest mold of character. We Naija Gooners seem to think alike. It’s clear C2hills is too. c2 first time meeting you here. How market, bros?

  22. tsgh says:

    Watch it Bt…
If you have spent 2 weeks with folks of Shin Bet you will be scared off sleeping and spent you evenings watching football too. 🙂

  23. lee says:

Nice journey home last night…. trains from Liverpool St were massively delayed because of a jumper at Romford station, 3 people were hit with body parts whilst standing on the platform!
    A 45 min journey took 4 hours….

  24. rico says:

I realised chills, but as moderator, I need to be able to read all conversations, so just English please…..

  25. tsgh says:

C2h I was of the impression you were AW out? 😛
    Just teasing btw…

C2h I told you last summer we would win something.. 🙂

  26. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

No, Rico…Tai is just fine…my affectionate name really…

Please, do not see it as breaking rules…we Nigerians have this lingo coined out of English Language christened ‘broken’. Even without going to school, every Nigerian can speak it. So, we easily identify ourselves with it. Ghanaians speak it too … but always with that distinct accent.

  27. tsgh says:

Sukky. Micko will have words with you on that post at 11:09. 🙂

Hi luznic… it was all ‘poppycock’ as Rico will say…

  28. c2hills says:

Brothers, its the naija spirit. Started coming on here last year during my industrial training.

Ginge, too much football is not good for you except you want to become AW. Lol. Welcome back to the AKB fold.

  29. rico says:

On a serious note, that’s awful Lee, one of the worst. I always feel so sorry for the train driver….

  30. Adam says:

Morning Rico. Nice post. Perhaps we too often fit players in little boxes and assign them labels. Then we shake the pot to make sure that those labels cover all areas susceptible to ingress. Still, there’s always the Arsenal Rumours site for those with a taste for the absurd.

  31. Luznic says:

somehow this season I have a sweet feeling Arsenal will be coasting in most matches and the bad feelings I have when my friends calls us haa Fc because we are always close but never there will be forgotten now they hardly talk football with me because most are man utd fans and like a typical arsenal fan we don’t beat people who are down already, roll in 2014/2015 eagerly awaiting August 16

  32. c2hills says:

Yea Ginge, no more nine years without a trophy.

Sorry rico. But you could always ask google translate.

  33. tsgh says:

    🙂 C2h… I cut it down… I was only watching 4 full games a weekend last season. 🙂

It never got in family time… really. honest. 🙂

Only Aneke and Kroos going has added 2 more must watch to my list…

  34. Adam says:

Careful Rico or Lee, Kev and myself will start posting in Cockney rhyming slang. Lee, as you know, is completely fluent in that particular Lingua. And I speak palare.

  35. rico says:

No Chills, it’s not up to me to translate, it’s up to you to speak in English. If you want to speak to fellow countrymen in your own language, please swap emails. Simples.

  36. c2hills says:

    Grandpa knows @11:13. Morning Adam.

Luznic, the reason is going to be tough with LVG at man utd and liverpool being an unknown in the equation post count dracula.

  37. Adam says:

Oh it’s fantastic. Various warriors post bizarre rumours and Eds replies, sometimes in a withering fashion, as to their veracity. It would surely be easier if Eds just posted who we are going to sign. It would also save much humiliation for the fantasists. But then I suppose that is all part of the undeniable entertainment value.

  38. Luznic says:

TS I have always known you to be an AKB will always be until Arsene is out due to Retirement maybe, anyway the 4th place is a celebrated invisible trophy the English press knows how important it is but they play it down, how the mighty have fallen manure now fight to be 4th since I have been glued to the EPL this is the first time they have gone below 3rd……….like I said we don’t beat people who are down already but with those two signings and nothing more they are still bound to fail LVG or not this is EPL

  39. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

But guys, I adore Rico…and I’m certain I’m not alone…let’s play to her rules pls. Great to know we’re many here …Ts is African…I’m yet to know from which country…not that it matters.

  40. Micko says:

    Morning all,
Sounds like your ball needs a service tsgh.
Liam Brady a legend, just ask SYG !
I know we’ve sold a few players to West Ham in the past but have any travelled the other way ?

  41. fatgun-ug says:

    Morning all HHers,
Rico, nice post as always. I can see all agents are using us as a shopping window for their player
I think Denver is waiting to sell Flamini and buy Khedira on TW deadline.

That is going to be the last move this summer

  42. rico says:

🙂 Adam, I’ll pick it up as I go along… lol

    Hi Micko & fagun, thanks..

Nickie, where did you read that about Khedira?

  43. c2hills says:

Only if you allow me to call you grandpa, Adam.

Emeka, rico is a mother. I’m just giving her a little run around.

  44. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

What a change in atmosphere in the House from the same time last year. I hope we are all still feeling so positive come the new year.

Adam – An excellent post yesterday, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the imagery.

However, it is unfortunate that our beloved game has to endure malignant personalities such as Maureen Yo. Worse yet is how the press and pundits fawn over him, stoking his ego.

  45. tsgh says:

    🙂 Luznic… I still criticize/question Aw when he deserves it though…

it was lovely reading how Jose is detested now…

13 or so months ago it was a different story when anyone dared to say AW was a better manager or buyer of players…

it was all about trophies as they say… 😉

  46. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Yeah…I got it from your earlier comment, Ts. Regards, bros.

Ts, re JQ, I’ll only take luxury signings if they come freebie. We have DM and CB as priorities and we’re spending 16 mil signing a CAM? How much is our transfer baggie ?

  47. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Ts, imo Gervinho was sold a season too early. When we had both Walcott and Poldi down early in the season, Carzola too…the wings were begging for his pace. He would have positively utilised that moment, latched onto Ozil’s passes too…he wasn’t a bad player.

  48. tsgh says:

lol Tai. indeed.. I think the CB role is finished though with CC21 signed imo…

As I stated in one of my posts I wrote for HH last summer. It was well reported/rumoured in some quarters that Bellerin agreed to sign with us on the guarantee of being made a first team player after 3 years if both parties agree he had progressed enough…

Unlike the other Barca steals like Miquel and Cesc he was offered a professional deal by Barca…
Toral joined us as he was half English if I am not wrong…

  49. Micko says:

Cheers Nickie, pretty much confirmed what I thought.

TEO, a few of us on here are pretty fluent in swahili if you wanna chance your arm !

  50. Canadian Gooner says:

Lee – Given time and employing a little effort, I could probably decipher Cockney rhyming slang, but Unwinese although entertaining has always been incomprehensible. I’ve listened to Ogden’s Nutgone Flake by the Small Faces for decades and still can’t understand half of what Stanley was saying.

  51. c2hills says:

Emeka, Gerv would latch unto those passes alright, whether he’d make something of them is another issue.

  52. Sukky says:

I also want campell to be given chance.I don’t want another striker or winger.Like always we arsenal fans don’t rate our players.Campell is better than welbeck and vitor Moses,If this guy don’t play for us regularly,we won’t see how great he is.Don’t forget we still have OX.

  53. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Micko…you’d have have Rico to worry about…but save me Swahili though. I’m a specialist not versatile!

  54. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – Good Morning. I’ve been busy trying to get some work done around my house after the total disruption caused by the World Cup. Has there been any progress on us signing a DM/holding midfielder?

  55. Luznic says:

Gervinho lacks the use of brain when it is needed, I still watch him in Roma and wonder why some people say he now flourishes there, he will need to quit football for a year and go into therapy to be able to use that brain well as he will never be that player we expect him to be, C2hill they did tell us to be patient but we are human and patience is most time easy with explanations we never had that and there was the media counting those years from 1-9 how times have changed and except Michael Owen the pundits and press now see Arsenal Challenging

  56. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

c2…the first thing toward scoring a goal is latching onto the pass…the second we all know. But you got to latch onto the pass first. Gerv would have plenty times!

  57. Nickie says:

    Rico

According to @TrevorSDempster Khedira is done pending player registration. Big news to commit to!

  58. tsgh says:

    lol… Cg.
Rico is very relaxed in that regards so she must know something..

I on the otherhand suspect Aw is looking at his squad with a grin on his face like a Cheshire cat…

I think I CM again if the right player becomes available…

Diaby has been training without any injury concerns so…

  59. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Luznic…get Khedira now and even Owen would quickly do another statement. Take away your love…and view us from a neutral plate. I’m still sceptical until Khedira is signed!

  60. Bt62 Gooner says:

Rico, no not for the Emms Cup, went to the first and second ones, first one was great, second was ok. Have a ticket for NLD, but havn’t decided yet.

  61. tsgh says:

c2/Luznic. gerv had football brain he just lacked the bottler to take him to the next level imo of course…

I can understand his confidence issue… I was watching an Ivorian team video and they kept calling him ugly and all…

Valbuena said nasri and co picking on his height messed up his confidence…

When things went wrong on the pitch you could tell he wanted the ground to open to swallow him up.. better characters move on and do the next better…

  62. c2hills says:

Yea Luznic, the meedja never stopped counting.

Agree Emeka, he is a natural at dribbling and finding space.

Grandpa, I was a huge admirer of Gerv too. He was blessed with the qualities that are usually difficult to teach. Those he could learn though…

  63. Adam says:

C2. I believe Lee did a forensic examination of both his technique and his forehead. He will be along shortly with a summation of his conclusions.

  64. tsgh says:

I believe like pre-nups it may not be binding/enforceable in this nation…

Caulker, Fellaini, Fraizer Campbell’s were reported to have release clauses…

  65. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Sukky, completely with your 11.50 re Campbell…

He’s truly better than Welbeck and will surprise many if given a chance and seems to know exactly what he’s up against…spoke so much of coming to kick off his destiny at Emirates.

  66. c2hills says:

CG, there’s a certain amount of tongue in cheek in most of my posts. Please don’t take them seriously.

  67. Nickie says:

Campbell looked tasty in that training video on Arsenal.com…

I’m beginning to sound like Clarke Carlisle “That’s an absolutely delicious tackle” lol

  68. Nickie says:

According to @TrevorSDempster Khedira is done pending player registration. Big news to commit to!

there you go Tai. Search on twitter @TrevorSDempster he has some very positive tweets. Probably rubbish though

  69. Bt62 Gooner says:

Ts, i thought i’d read rubber face was involved, image him of all people, to be slagging anyone, with his boat race..

  70. BrainwashedKev says:

Lee, was actually the Chairperson of the:

Gervinho is a Very Decent Geezer Appreciation Society…

    55 Percy Circus
    Etc etc…

  71. Hell Raising Devil says:

Adam….the release clause issue is a question I have been asking for a long time. Imagine a release clause on Cesc. On Henry. On Nasri. On RVP.

it is not fair that Portugal, Spain, etc have release clauses and the EPL do not.

  72. Luznic says:

Ginge – that’s why I said Gerv might have to quit football for a year and go into therapy because why he fluffs his shot we will never know…….may your soul rest in peace Kenny Ireland but Rico who is he?

  73. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – Even Arsene wouldn’t be so naive to count on Diaby for a whole season. Diaby is a mentally strong character, but his body seems to be made of delicate blown glass. He should have FRAGILE – Handle With Care shipping labels pasted prominently to his front, back and sides. A shame really as he is a talented player.

I fear this season will be his Last Chance Saloon. If he can’t put in a reasonable number of shifts, this should/will be his last season with the club.

  74. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

    Carzola latest,

“My objective was always Arsenal. I have played for Arsenal for two years and I continue to play. They are the only club I think about. I want to lift as many trophies as possible with them and help them as much as I can.”

  75. c2hills says:

Rico, so if we had taken him to court he would’ve been found out publicly. Some risk he took there.

  76. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

    CG,

I’ve said my bit on Diaby…I’m only praying for his fitness. Getting 20 starts off him this season would be absolute pay dirt.

  77. Luznic says:

Tai then you don’t know the man Michael Owen, he never sees anything right with Arsenal and he still thinks this is 2001 when he scored in that FA cup final………Khedira won’t even change his mind and after we Bought Sanchez and Debuchy the man still said we won’t make top 4

  78. rico says:

Luznic, he’s a Scottish actor who is very funny, starred in a programme called Benidorm which I really liked…

  79. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Ok, Luz…ppl like Owen don’t matter … I didn’t play professional football but I’d never listen to him for any match analysis.

  80. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – Look where Samir Na$ti’s putdowns of team mates landed him, excluded from the France team for the World Cup, due to the requests of three or more of the France regulars. What goes around comes around – retribution.

  81. rico says:

    Bt lol

The offer is there though, any time you feel like writing a post let me know, same for all of you… 🙂

  82. Bt62 Gooner says:

Kenny Ireland, RIP, another succumbs to one of the most vile and indiscriminate diseases known to man.

  83. Luznic says:

CG Diaby frowned at people calling him fragile, if he was in the room and you said that he will be doing what he did to Joey Barton in 2011 to you……so whisper when you have to say that again……..lol………I also believe it is his last year with us……A fit Diaby I think we have more chances of seeing Dennis Bergkamp play for us again and Mourinho talking great things about Arsenal than a fully fit Diaby in a season

  84. c2hills says:

Owen is a bellend. He keeps saying we won’t make top four because we haven’t replaced Henry. For crying out loud, Henry? Its not as if we’ve been out the top four since 2007.

  85. Hell Raising Devil says:

I have just seen some of the AFC fans tweets on Jenks.

    And a thought stuck me.

Would Adams, Bould, Keown and O’leary have made it under the present coaching staff???

Imo…..only O’leary would have made it as he was technically superior to the other two.

  86. Luznic says:

ooh Rico I guess he will be missed by you and many more people who he entertained also…..I hope his soul finds peace

  87. rico says:

Is it just me or does anyone else think Arsene Wenger looks ten years younger these days….

What a difference an FA Cup trophy, a holiday in Brazil and a few signings can make…..

  88. Hell Raising Devil says:

Rico I guess that it was the holiday in Brazil which made him look 10 years younger. As you might have observed there was no zipper in his trunks when he was on the beach so he did not have any problems regarding that issue.

Zippers can put years on anyone due to the worries they create while trying to unfasten them.

Bt62….that takes place in Ireland I think. But I do not get to see it here since it is not transmitted. Its a pity, because I like seeing youth tournaments more than senior football.

  89. Canadian Gooner says:

Tai – Regarding Player Registration. All professional players have a set of official FIFA registration documents that are held by the player’s club and a copy lodged with the club’s national association.

When a player is transferred both the selling and buying clubs must sign off on the transfer contract and the player signs his personal contract with his new club. On completion of these documents, the selling club sends the players FIFA registration registration documents to his new club. Until an official copy of those documents are lodged with the club’s national association, the player is ineligible to play for the club in an officially sanctioned competitive match.

  90. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – I don’t know about ten years younger, but he certainly looks as if a great weight has been lifted from his shoulders and he does look more relaxed and at times even jovial.

  91. Bt62 Gooner says:

Dev, your are correct in N.Ireland, in an elite match N.Ireland u20 v Mexico u20’s, 4 players sent off, 3 Mexican and 1 NI, 1 Mexican for attempting/kicking a player, in the head, whilst he lay on the ground. Mental..

  92. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Thanks CG…my next question, if you don’t mind – why is Khedira’s taking ages while Sanchez’s, Ospina’s…both South Americans sorted out that easily? And for perfect comparison, Ozil’s last season?

  93. Canadian Gooner says:

Arsene’s rejuvenation might not rest strictly with the purchase of new players. The attentions of the young ladies of Rio and elsewhere in Brazil while he playing beach volleyball, swimming, etc. might have had a revitalizing effect on him. They certainly raised my blood pressure a point or two.

  94. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Rico…I think, maybe a sorcerer had told Wenger Diaby would stay injury-free coming season and his relieved he’d prove ppl wrong yet again. Diaby’s injury stress could add 20 yrs to any unlucky coach … and even fans at that!

  95. rico says:

    🙂 Cg & Tai.

I don’t think anyone would make such a statement about Diaby and his fitness though… lol

Lee, I think we’ll see at least two more signed up… 🙂

  96. Canadian Gooner says:

Tai – Buying a player is like courting a lady, young or otherwise.

Some are very interested and don’t take much persuading.

Others are interested, but require some effort to show you are truly interested and are not taking them for granted. These may also require some tokens of your esteem.

Yet others may only be interested in your pocket book and what it can buy for them. They may also have more than one suitor vying or their consent. In which case, the one with the biggest wallet and/or willing to spend the most wins.

Finally there are those that are just not interested in you at all. Some of those may feign interest in you to make another suitor jealous. Those can string you along for quite some time and cost you a lot of time, effort and money for little or no return.

Even when you win her hand, It may take a long time to find out if it is true love or just a passing infatuation.

  97. tsgh says:

Imho. The tweet is rubbish re Sami… A player must be signed before he can be registered.

Considering Sami is an EU passport holder and has plied his trade in EU I wonder how that tweet could be taken with any substance…

I explained the registration and work permit inter alia a week or so back…

  98. rico says:

We have done Nickie, but not sure if it’s ever been a great success. If folks here want one, it can be arranged…

Got to nip off for an hour, laters…

    Night Cg..

  99. Canadian Gooner says:

I see no one has made a bid for Alex Song and Barcelona seem determined to be shot of him. How things change. Only a few seasons ago he thought he had hit the jackpot. Now after spending most of his time there sitting on the sidelines he finds out it wasn’t true love after all and he may not be the catch he once thought he was. Pity?

  100. Nickie says:

Seems Sundreamteam want card details just to participate in the “free” entry as they’re trying to get sun + numbers up…

Ts…Newcastle seem to have signed that ferrerya, the Argentinian striker we were talking about recently. Get to see him first hand now 🙂

  101. tsgh says:

imo…Sami K was not the German player we were ‘courting’…

Rumours are AW may become interested though if Diaby or Arteta or JW or Ramsey sustain an injury; also if Di Maria does not move Sami will be sold at £10m-ish just to balance the book as currently contract negotiation has not officially broken down even though RM have this believe sami is trying to do a Sagna and walk free next summer.

Like the SC19 rumours.. Ath had been chasing a 17 y.o Carzola no family relation for a while and they signed him in June… but still the media claim Sc19 is going…

  102. tsgh says:

Oh.. Nickie… its unlike Pardew to buy a non-French player. lol

Then again he is trying to build AFc north England so his answer to us signing Sanchez is him signing a latin American striker. lol

  103. BrainwashedKev says:

The Wooden Shades is holding the AGM of the Gervinho is a Very Decent Geezer Appreciation Society at 4.30pm this evening…

    See you all there…

  104. tsgh says:

Cg/Dev/potter.. how do you think UEFA will allow PSg, Chelsea, RM and co to get away with deals that include Psg paying the Champions League winners £8m for the Argentine before completing a permanent deal next season. re FFP

Its as dubious as it comes…

  105. Hell Raising Devil says:

that is good to hear habib.

Ginge……I feel that corruption is strife within Uefa as well. Look at Barca’s punishment for meddling with money. Though it is a good law, FFP will eventually be turned into a joke by those who can afford it.

  106. tsgh says:

    Tai here:-

Seeded teams in the play-off round:

    Arsenal (112 coefficient)
    FC Porto (105)
    Bayer Leverkusen (70)
    Napoli (61)
Athletic Bilbao (54) – will be seeded if Zenit do not reach play-off round

First-leg results for teams who could qualify for play-off round:

    AEL Limassol (7) 1-0 Zenit (73)
    Dnipro (32) 0-0 Copenhagen (45)
    Feyenoord (13) 1-2 Besiktas (34)
    Grasshoppers (9) 0-2 Lille (45)
    Standard Liege (38) 0-0 Panathinakos (30)

Looking good thus far in terms of who we might be playing in the UCL qualifier…

  107. tsgh says:

Good point Dev.. I had forgotten about the quickest retraction of a sanction in history…

Then again Barca are the UN’s team so… 😉

  108. Bt62 Gooner says:

Lee, not a problem mate, if Rico goes i’ll book The Priory in advance. A Cobra you say….where have i heard that before..lol

  109. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – Unless I’m angry, I always try to entertain and am happy when I succeed. I’m enjoying the positive vibes in the House right now. A marked change from the doom and gloom and the sky is falling scenario we had in the House a year ago.

I’m looking forward to the start of the new season and the deadline day dash to buy, sell, loan &/or trade players. We have done well so far, but I expect the club will sign one or two more (Benzema, Carvalho, Khedira, Javi Martinez, Quintero, Reus and/or Schneiderlin maybe).

Anyway, before I fall asleep at my computer, awaken with keyboard waffle face and having drooled on said keyboard; I’ll take my cue from Rico and bid you all good night from me and good day to you.

    Keep The Faith!

  110. Nickie says:

Wenger has confirmed Joel Campbell is part of his plans woo…Juan Quintero rumours are false. He expects busy period in the TW 15-30 and we are still open to deals. “open to deals” sounds like we’re done but if something comes along worth while we’ll take a punt. That’s not encouraging

  111. Nickie says:

Bt62 or anyone with actual BT Sport….Is it possible to stream legally?

Atm I use sky go from my gfs mum and pay her a monthly fee so I can stream legally through xbox ipad and mac even though I don’t have sky personally

Is there a way to do this with BT? Watch BT sport over internet similar to sky go? My dad has BT sport and would love to steal it from him for a knock down fee 😉 hehe

  112. tsgh says:

lol.. Nickie… if you stream let me know. 😉

It will be interesting who partners with Kosser tomorrow.

Will it be Kosser with Miguel on sunday and Hayden and CC25 partnership tomorrow or Miquel and hayden plus Kosser and CC25?

  113. Bt62 Gooner says:

Nickie, can’t really answer that one, never really worried about the legalities of streaming..lol

  114. tsgh says:

Ryo was in training earlier but no news on Serge yet.. 🙁

AS17 had his first training with the Boys…

  115. Nickie says:

Oh don’t get me wrong I stream too lol but for a better quality high def I wouldn’t mind paying my dad 5-10 a month to watch footy through BT online. Just wasn’t sure whether they did streaming through their website

  116. tsgh says:

😀 Micko only you can come up with that… classic.

When I first saw it I thought it was a hanging worm? 😉 I had to say a short prayer and take a second look…

  117. Nickie says:

He has BT Vision. It’s absolute crap btw, I wouldn’t recommend BT vision for anyone looking at it lol I was just wondering if I could use his log in details and feeeed from his account

  118. Gonerjoe says:

    Afternoon Rico and everyone
Got to love Wenger ( maybe you don’t 🙂 ) he was asked about Gerrard’s comment on Arsenal not being good enough……..
He’s answer ” no body is to big for Arsenal”
Also said ” I know why he said it it was to keep Suarez at Liverpool so the could win the PL that didn’t happen and he’s gone now” 😀 I love it.

  119. rico says:

    Afternoon guys and gals..

A very happy AW during interview. No way is our transfer window closed yet….

  120. Gonerjoe says:

Just wondering have Arsenal found another 100m they didn’t know they had bloody hell Wenger still wants to buy more players. 😀

  121. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Good evening, caring mother of the house, all…

Yeah…Wenger talked to Gerard good. And he’s looking like a brand new Wenger. Good he’s rubbished JQ rumour. That’s one to gulp down a bottle of O’mpa…

  122. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Don’t bet on that joe…from comments Wenger made in Brazil…we’re not keen on Balo…good we’re not as well.

  123. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

I think there’s a chance TV stays…it’s left to him. If he stays, Wenger may end up bringing in just Khedira…

  124. rico says:

I think TV is off, whether it’s Barca or Utd, I don’t know. If it’s Utd, I hope we get Smalling…

  125. rico says:

I’d rather the outright defender personally, but if Jones arrived, then ok.

Did you see AW’s comments about the way Spain and Germany won with many players from one club and he hopes that England will win the Euros/World Cup with many Arsenal players?

  126. potter says:

Just got home and have a window to paint before sundown if I want to be in front of the box at 4 tomorrow.
Ts – regarding FFP : – The coach and horses is ready and waiting to drive through it. As soon as the monied clubs decide.

Gervinho should have played in slip-on boots , it might have prevented him from tripping over the imaginary bootlaces whenever he saw the whites of the keepers eyes.

As for Unwin :- are you allsity comfibold ,once a polly tito , sittyy chairy inho , deep joy.

Must go see you all tomorrow, or much later.

  127. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Yeah, Rico…six Arsenal players…we got five now…unless Hayden gets the upgrade this term.

  128. Luznic says:

Why would TV ever want to go? if he ever leaves that means he concedes per and Bosscielny are better than him and I will give him a good sending off for looking down on himself, good evening Rico, goonerjoe and Tai

  129. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Evening Luznic…Wenger has settled our nerves by debunking JQ…I’ve been drinking to that!

  130. Gonerjoe says:

I am saying we will get Balotelli because Wenger brought up he’s name to day when there was no need. But hay that could be me putting 2 + 2 and coming up with 5 😀

  131. Luznic says:

Don’t drink too much on that, even though I know we won’t sign JQ, you remember 2 years ago when Wenger was asked about Cazorla and he said ” I have never heard of him” do you believe Wenger that much? but TV is off I believe his news about Outs but Ins he keeps it close to him and my fear is we won’t sign a DMF

  132. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

That of Carzola was tongue-in-cheek…. look deeply at him…he was sincere. My hope is that Khedira will come.

  133. Rick says:

Evening Rico and the House.Your 7.18 is spot on.
Arsene will not decided anything else untill after the Emm Cup.
Rico have you seen Chriss Olsson is Capt of avery young uder 21 team tonight. There is no place for Afobi feeling he is the next for a loan. 1-0 down after about 10 mins.

  134. Luznic says:

Wenger is just too clever when it comes to answering questions but I know he wants to sign Khedira whether Khedira wants to sign for us is something else

  135. Gonerjoe says:

On the possibility of Khedira signing, I would like to point out it’s because I need a life I was able to say we would sign him. When he was part of a picture with our Germans at the world cup.

  136. rico says:

    Not at all Joe.. 😉

Luznic, I think Khedira wants to sign for us, and we want to sign him. If wages can be sorted, I think he’ll be an Arsenal player….

  137. Gonerjoe says:

Issues with Khedira maybe how much Arsenal are willing to pay for a player with one year left on he’s contract.
He’s refusing to sign another and maybe quite happy to stay at Madrid and leave for nothing next year.

  138. Gonerjoe says:

Just seen some stats ( I know) or facts that Vermaelan Has had 12 injuries in 7 years maybe we should take the money and run.

  139. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

I think it’s beyond wages now…Do they want to keep either him or Di Maria? But Podolski was first real giveaway he is Arsenal-bound.

  140. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Rick, please…continue the update…any chance on our lineup?

    Rico, that’s good to hear…

  141. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

I like TV…a supreme athlete…real springs in his legs. But he’s problem, besides injury is not partnering well with Kos…both are similar and don’t compliment…on the strength of that, I’d want him sold for a right footed CB, that can play with both Kozzer and Per.

  142. Micko says:

rico, forget Ingerlund, if we sign Khedira germany will be shit hot favourites for the next world cup !

  143. Rick says:

    Evening Adam.
I have a neighbour who is always mouthing off about his beloved Chavs and the little shit.
Invited him in to read your post, all he could say was “Is that what they really think of him” I told him you bet it is. It looks like you have taken the wind out of his sails, thank you
TEO They are down 2-1 at H/T pen on 45 mins
    ,

  144. Gonerjoe says:

Not if you work in the public service by the way my waste line is big enough but I do like chocolate.

  145. potter says:

Nothing wrong with being 60 , well not a lot , and well not sure I would want to go back and start again.

  146. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Ok, Rico…got that. Being 60 is a huge achievement though. I’d bow for whoever is already so blessed.

  147. rico says:

Well said potter, I for sure wouldn’t want to be born into this world today..

I’m off folks, have a good night all…

    ‘Til tomorrow…. Be safe…

  148. Rick says:

Coach the scorers were Cowley and Toral.
This is a good result a very joung team.
Potter you are right I wish I was 60.

  149. Biscuitbum says:

Apparently we are talking to Southampton re Schneiderlin, even though they`re still saying he`s not for sale. The player`s deal with the spuds was supposedly almost done and dusted, even though Levy offered less than half the fee that saints wanted.

The Khedira deal is back on since the player reduced his wage demands, and we are back in for Benzema – wonderful – if like me, you want to believe this crap. Although, I did hear Terry Gibson on Talksport this morning say that he expected Khedira to sign for us.

  150. BrainwashedKev says:

Well, if an ex-Spud tosser like Gibson says it Biscuitbum.
    Then I must be so…

Transfer rumours, what would we do without all this bollocks…

  151. BrainwashedKev says:

We were signing some Colombian geezer yesterday.

Tomorrow it’ll some world beater from Bakino Faso.

Sunday it’ll be some Herbert from Alaska.
CG will know who I mean…

    And so it goes…

  152. Rick says:

Kev I believe it was the same B/W team that our first team played . Our team was VickersMoore Ottwell Ajayi O’conner Maitland-Niles Toral Olsson Crowley Willock Lipman, Crowley Willock had very good games. Crowley 17 next week and will sign Pro forms.

  153. Rick says:

I think it is going to be hard for him to make it.
To be honest I am not a big fan of Zelalem but at the moment Arsene
puts him above Chriss in the pecking order. I think Chris will go on loan this season.

  154. Bt62 Gooner says:

Rick, Zelalem , from what i’ve seen, has disappointed. I like Chris and he seems to have baulked up. If he goes on loan, i think he may just slip away. Hope not.

  155. BrainwashedKev says:

Rick/BT, I don’t think that Zelalem will hang around very long…

Him and his family, I suspect, are in it solely for the cash.

I know that most footballers are motivated to a greater or lesser degree by the financial rewards football brings, but some, are a lot more mercenary than the majority and I just get the feeling that ‘Team Zelalem’ fall into that category…

See ‘Team Bendtner’ and ‘Team Bunjaku’ for examples, not forgetting the best of the lot:-

    ‘Team Anelka’…..

  156. BrainwashedKev says:

As far Olsson and Toral are concerned, this is a massive season for both of them…

I think that they are both hugely talented players, but getting into Arsenal’s midfield has to be one of the most difficult jobs in football…

They both need to go out on loan, as Wilshere did at Bolton and be one of that teams star performers each week…

Choosing the right club is vital…

Getting loaned out to a Division II club, is like saying ‘your fired’…
Division I is like saying, we’ll keep for for another year then flog you to Fulham or Wigan.
Championship team mean you’ve got a slim chance.
Prem team means, it’s up to you now, don’t blow it.,,

  157. Bt62 Gooner says:

Kev, you may right about Team Ze, there just seems to be something missing, drive maybe, not sure, though he has had injuries.

  158. potter says:

Also means that if they go to another prem team and become an integral part of them they can’t play against us. Just like Chelsea and City did with Lukaku and Barry.

  159. potter says:

On the subject of FFP rule bending :- Lampard signs for City’s MLS side and gets loaned back to City for Zero . Another English player on their books and all is well at Eufa towers. Should it be ?

  160. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

    Morning Rico, potter, All…

I wonder why modesty and honesty has departed the football circles … why do we blame politicians all the time. Clubs and their owners are worst cheats. Thank God I’m still an Arsenal fan.

  161. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

I don’t think rules permit two clubs from different leagues owned by same person/group to buy player from one source and supply another on loan to beat FFP. That’s open cheating and I’m sure UEFA have enough lawyers to drill holes in such shoddy deals.

It’s not that there’s much left in Lampard to worry about but things must be done straight.

  162. BrainwashedKev says:

    Morning Rico and All…

Gotta say that I admire Man City, whatever you think of them, that’s a smart bit if business…
We did it briefly with Thierry Henry and maybe we should look to do it again, maybe by loaning out players from Russian or American clubs…

It’s all about getting around FFP, but Lamoard will still have to fit into Man City’s 25 man squad,
I think City’s action re: Lampard, shows that FFP is having an effect.

Arsenal just have to be just as devious and inventive…

  163. BrainwashedKev says:

I wonder what effects, if any, that the Ukraine sanctions are having on the likes of Abramovitch?
There’s been not hard evidence that sanctions are biting into his wealth in any way, but behind the scenes you never know, and I’m hopeful that not only FFP, but also sanctions, will have an adverse effect, long term, on his dodgy business empire.

  164. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

    Kev…

When people get around beating a set rule, it means we’re back to square one. The rule was not made to test how smart people could be but to save the people’s game from future collapse. If Arsenal bends any rule, I’ll kick against it…but to bend any rule, the club has to sack Wenger first.

  165. Rick says:

Morning Rico and the house. Just a short visit, a lot to do before 4.20 Kev I think City are making big mistakes with the squad rules and FFP. More on that later.
Jonker was at te game last night and was seen making notes.
Report states Olsson Crowley Willock and Iwobi (sub) were very good . It seemed a good allround performanc. Latta.
