Transfer round up as midfielder deal gets closer.

Morning all.

The next five days are going to be bonkers. Rumours, links, whatever you call them will go up a level I’m sure. Jim White will already be gargling with salt water, just to make sure his voice is in peak condition ahead of deadline day. His yellow tie pressed as if he were set for a military passing out parade rather than a few hours of sitting in front of a Sky Sports camera.

Admit it, you love the drama. No?

I think Arsenal will be busy, very busy. With exits, including loans. New arrivals? I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed that we get two. Both midfielders. One to make things happen for our front men, scoring goals himself too. The other, a tall, strong and athletic guy who can add something special to our limp looking midfield. We’d all love a Gilberto, Vieira, Petit, Santi, Rosicky or a fit and healthy Diaby I’m sure but they only come around once.

Transfer talk this morning:

  • Lyon are closing in on an £18m move for AC Milan midfielder Lucas Paqueta’ – with the Brazilian a possible replacement for Arsenal target Houssem Aouar.
  • Arsenal will ramp their efforts to sign Houssem Aouar this week – but they are ready to admit defeat over Thomas Partey.
  • Arsenal and Tottenham are facing a transfer deadline tug-of-war for Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara.

Diawara has been linked to Arsenal before this summer so this story could just be regurgitated rubbish but of course, adding that we’re up against our north London rivals in the race for his signature adds a little spice. Imagine the headlines if Mourinho signs him, regardless of whether Mikel Arteta wanted him or not.

I’m surprised though that instead of messing around with Lyon as they play games in public over the future of Houssem Aouar, Arsenal don’t go to AC Milan and strike a deal for Lucas Paqueta. That’ll cheese them off big time, perhaps teach them a lesson too. I know other things need taking into consideration when drawing up a list of transfer targets but come on, Paqueta is Brazilian. Lol

Why Arsenal bother trying to deal with Lyon I don’t know.

As far as the exits go, according to Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are on the verge of selling Sead Kolasinac to Bayer Leverkusen for around £10 million which is a good deal for all. The same source suggests Atletico Madrid are very close to sign Luca Torreira on a permanent deal too.

Anyway, it seems like things might finally get going as far as signing a midfielder or two go. The more players Edu and Mikel can move on, the more money they have to bargain with. Then of course there is the future of both Matteo Guendouzi and Mesut Ozil to be resolved. My guess is that the Frenchman will be gone.

See you in the comments guys.

No Geoff , looking for someone to give good money for a bad apple is not easy . It’s not just here but he has a past record of distabilising squads . We took a gamble on him and so far it’s backfired but if no-one comes in for him he is faced with a fait acomplis and perhaps he will knuckle down and we will see the player that we thought we were buying.

Afternoon Rico, Arsenal could have a deal or two lined up that’s not been mentioned on the wires, you know what we’re like?

  3. allezkev says:

Rico, I think whose playing and especially whose not playing tomorrow will be very enlightening as to certain players’ futures during these final few days before the window closes.

Kev for some reason when you write afternoon campers it reminds me of that old tv show Hi-DE-HI

As for Guendouzi I hope Marseilles do loan him from us as it might wake him up as Potter said he has form for upsetting team mates then this would have to be his last chance

  5. allezkev says:

Yes Geoff, that’s the idea actually, I liked that series very much, it was old fashioned risqué postcard humour for all the family. That all sounds very dated now doesn’t it?

I’m not 100% but I think the guys who wrote it did Dads Army or was it Some Mother’s Do Have Them?

  6. potter says:

Dad’s army and It aint half hot mum. Perry and Croft . Humour now is too serious . if that’s not an oxymoron.
Guendouzi to Marseille on loan ? If they are paying the wages why not , seen a lot of things in Marseille including the “” last resort “” that’s where he could be heading and it’s on of the last resorts I would want to revisit .

  7. allezkev says:

Sorry, I meant It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, not Some Mother’s etc, I don’t know where that came from, but it was hilarious at the time.

  8. Adam says:

If Guendouzi is to leave surely we need to bolt the back door so he can’t return. That means a sale or a cast-iron commitment to buy at some time in the future because we all know that, whatever his new club offers, it won’t be enough for a man with a mountain-sized ego like him.
When you become all about your perm, something’s got to give.

  9. Aussie Geoff says:

Kev all those shows were funny but now the fun police make us watch crap

Adam the only problem with locking the back door is the bugger will come in the front door HA HA

any more news about Torreira leaving as this sound like it could happen

    Afternoon alL.

Guendouzi is made in the same mould as Delli Alli. They’re both nightmare human beings. Impossible to contain and control. Probably impossible to change or modify their behaviour on and off the pitch. Who ever shows interest in our over tonsured perm merchant should be encouraged to put ‘their arm round him’ and take him away. I’d waive the fee too, just to be rid!
    Harsh but true I think.

Agree Kev. If I was Ozil, I’d be looking for a loan deal with a season in the sun somewhere. He’s got to look after his back these days.

Should get to see Saliba tomorrow, with Gabriel I hope. Sadly I won’t though as no Sky Sports or Internet at the in-laws ☹️☹️

  12. Limey says:

    Afternoon All,
Just seen the rumours about AMN to Man Utd, please no. As you say Rico don’t sell cheap like Martinez.
The world’s gone mad – Spurs fans celebrating like they’ve won the World Cup..

    Arsenal…… £42.8m
    Newcastle.. £35m

    Transfer fees paid.

  14. allezkev says:

If you take into consideration what clubs have spent and what clubs have earned so far, there are actually 12 clubs in the Premier League who’ve spent more net funds than Arsenal so far this window.

  15. Sue says:

Wow, look at Chelsea, that’s a lot of benjamins!! City aren’t done yet…
Villa have done very well this window – Emi
and especially tying down Grealish and Mings!.
Ours should rocket in the next.few days…

Rico.. I would say, just to make you feel better, that you won’t miss much.. our fouls will be ignored… our players will be booked..whilst theirs aren’t… just a normal visit to Anfield… but what I want to see is their keeper picking the ball out of their net multiple times!! That smile completely wiped from Klopp and Curtis Jones’ faces.. and to finally leave that dump with a win!! And if we don’t, I shall lose it big time 🤣

  16. rico says:

I wouldn’t sell Mustafi to that lot Limey. Not for less than £50 million anyway.

We let Emi go for peanuts imo. Ridiculous. Wenger and Gazidis would have been slaughtered for a deal like that.

  17. rico says:

I hope you’re right re the last bit Sue. If it’s as open as last season’s match, there’ll be goals that’s for sure.

Do you know who the ref is?

  18. Sue says:

Arsenal are in advanced talks with Manchester City over a move for Ukrainian international left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko. #AFC #MCFC

Permanent deal, apparently. I really don’t rate him 😫🥺 Underwhelming….
