Too soft? Then ‘man up’ Arsene! Start of a good run today?

Morning all…

We had a good continuity before the end of the season and we think that our cohesive aspect has been maintained. It’s not one game that should change our ambition, our objective, we just want to come back to our best level. – Arsène Wenger

Last weekend was awful, Arsenal were awful, pretty much every player was awful and at times we looked like a Sunday League team!

What are the chances of that happening again? I’d say slim to none…

This group of players don’t suddenly become rubbish overnight and as much as we all believe a couple of top quality players need to added before the transfer window closes, if every player turns up today in the right frame of mind, we’ll see a much better performance than we did last Sunday.

The West Ham performance will have hurt the players, perhaps Arsene Wenger more so as he’s the one who has 100% belief in his squad and last weekend they all let themselves, the club and it’s fans down, big time. The manager knows it too:

Our fans have passion, love and that’s why it hurts [to lose]. We have a big following and disappointed people are emotional and that is understandable.

It hurts us to disappoint people who have a high level of expectation.

A couple of years ago, something very similar happened on the opening day of the season. A quite average Aston Villa side turned up at The Emirates, our boys had just beaten a couple of Asian sides by seven goals, defeated Man City 3-1 in a friendly and this home league fixture was possibly considered to be a walkover. Wrong, we got thumped 3-1!

Our next league game was a tricky trip to Fulham. The boys turned up and we won 3-1 and we went on a great run, winning our next eight of our following PL fixtures. (The other was a draw) It wasn’t until we travelled to OT did we suffer defeat, a very annoying 1-0. Somewhere in between that good run, we played one of our best matches in recent years, beating Napoli 2-0.

One bad result doesn’t mean this season is over, not by a long margin and if all the words from both the manager and players are put into action on the pitch, then not only should we expect a very different Arsenal performance today, but for the next few months too.

Perhaps they were all a bit cocky and overconfident having had a great pre-season and beating Chelsea in the Charity Shield, perhaps they did need a big wake up call, although goodness knows why, but if that’s the case, then I’m glad it was on the opening day of the season and against a club like West Ham who haven’t gone overboard with celebrations and sly jibes….

Arsenal now to to emulate the run we went on back in 2013 and if they do just that, that ghastly performance last weekend will soon fade into the back of our minds.

Sometimes, we are maybe too nice. If you want to say our aggressive level last Sunday was not big enough, then I would agree with you.

It is maybe linked with the fact we were too confident and that we thought we would win the game anyway.

Arsene Wenger is right, the players are too nice and I think that comes from above. This team needs a bit more fire in it’s belly, a bit more physicality and a bit more ruthlessness. They can’t think any game is won before kick-off, that’s just arrogant and perhaps they’d be better off going onto the pitch believing they are 1-0 down instead of 1-0 up!

But until Arsene Wenger demands more of a killer instinct this team will always be too nice. Alan Pardew will demand that from his side today and he isn’t keen on Wenger any more than Wenger is Pardew so there’s plenty to play for.

But most importantly, three points and a good performance is all we fans crave and the beginning of a good run of results…

Saying that, I’d take a scrappy 1-0 win today…. 😉

COYRRG’S!

Mr Wenger has made a few enemies during his long reign in the EPL. None more so than the dwarf of Chelsea wharf! I’ve just posted the following on yesterday’s blog now copied and pasted for everyones’ delectation:

I notice that the poisonous pigmy has tried to deflect the defeat the chavs are going to suffer this afternoon by having a pop at Wenger reiterating his “success at failure” campaign. He really is a slimy piece of shite! He wants to man up and apologise for his outburst against his own medical staff, which has taken front of stage this week instead of the press chewing through his team’s woeful performance against Swansea. Tosser! It makes you wonder if there wasn’t a more subtle reason for his damnation of his loyal female Dr? Has she rebuffed his amorous advances, I wonder? There is far more to this spat than meets the eye! And as for dredging up the Wenger rant can only be because he really thinks Arsenal have a chance of knocking the chavs off there undeserved London perch!
This afternoon wil reveal all. If the chavs lose I wonder what sort of attack he’ll launch on Pellegrini and his merry band of men.
Are we experiencing the dying cries of a condemned man, despite his new 4 year contract? Arsehole!

    Morning all.

I’ll take 1-0 too Rico but I’d be much happier with 3-0, to us, of course! However, I think this will be a close contest, it was last year and I can’t see that it will be any easier this time.

  2. rico says:

    Morning Wavy and all again…

Well said – I actually hope City bash his lot! I didn’t know he’s never stayed in a managerial post for more than three years… Time is running out then….

  3. scottfromoz says:

    Morning guys.
Wenger appears to know what the issues were last week, so let’s hope he’s got on top of them, else it means nothing.
I truly thought we could win our first 5 or 6 games, I expected it, to be honest,
Losing 2 in a row is simply incomprehensible, well it was a week ago lol.
Come on lads, get It done.

  4. allezkev says:

    Morning All…

    Morning Rico,Wavy…

Hey Scott, I see that Austrailia won at netball…

Come on Aussie come on…. 🙂

  5. scottfromoz says:

Kev, all I can say is……WHAT CRICKET Hahahahahahahaha.
Rico, Wenger is Condemned for NOT telling us the truth after a loss, and this time he has.
    We were all overconfident.
A manager can not stop that, not always.

  6. Drake says:

Hi rico and all…Few days i have claimed that i have a source which i dont so forgive me rico i was trying to be an ITK but failed lol…but i have found someone who is legit and i will give you a name later and have a look at him.

What i have found out is that a player can be signed in one day or two…

4 players want out(welback, rosicky, campbell and flamini who wenger has been trying to get him out for four months but wants pay out).the rosicky story is a sad one because he wanted out along time ago but wenger took the option but still want out…welback was not wenger signing but want to keep him.

We have not bid for any player but asked for some that is benzema, dortmund winger and polish dm

i will try to update when there are any developments

but all this should have happened a few months ago which show wenger is no longer fit to take this club forward,he like to live things late

  7. rico says:

    Morning Kev.

Scott, I kind of disagree there, it’s the managers job to prepare the team and ensure they are in the right mindset. I know he can’t be held responsible for the way they played once on the pitch but with our history on the opening day of the season, the preparation could perhaps have been better…

They should never have been allowed to even think that game was a forgone conclusion…

  8. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Lovelies and hunkies.

Aye lady boss. AW and the team should man up….as you rightly say in your fine post.

but honestly i feel we have a great squad. its what’s in between the ears of the players which is still childlish.

the grey matter in their head needs to be shaken and stirred a little bit.

  9. rico says:

Hi Drake, I don’t think anyone took your predictions with anything out than a slab of salt… lol

Best get the salt back out for your latest….

  10. Drake says:

Im afraid we will sign a player who is not needed but big money player…
I pray gabriel become a starter soon than later because he may want out…players get pissed easily

  11. scottfromoz says:

Devil, it’s something we can play lol
    I’m off guys.
Our new Arsenal Australia home venue is open and ready for me with open arms, so I’ll catch you all later when I have had a beer or three 🙂

  12. Hell Raising Devil says:

what I cannot agree with AW is the fact that WHU were prepared better. Honestly I saw them in four Europa league ties and each time they were crap. RUBBISH.

suddenly they were great against us. Were they??

Or did we make them look so???

  13. rico says:

Gabriel is an odd one. He’s younger, quicker and is a tough tackling player from the little we have seen of him, he’s got to get playing time soon. Unless he’s not mastered the English language yet and AW thinks that’s a problem..

Enjoy the beers Scott, the match too hopefully…

  14. rico says:

I think a bit of both Devil, they probably arrived at the Emirates knowing they had nothing to lose.

    Ze Hammer handbrake woz off….

  15. Brian Price says:

Hi Rico, excellent summary as usual.
On a different topic, it was great to see Wrighty on MOTD last night. I thought he and Jermaine Jenas were the best pair of pundits for years, much better than No-hair, Bad-hair, and Danny Who?.

    Brian

  16. Hell Raising Devil says:

Gabriel is a very good defender. Imo he is better and more ruthless than Per. And finer technically than Kos.

AW should rotate. and give Gabriel 2 games out of every 5 played minimum. in this way he should get around 25-28 games during a whole season.

imo he is the one who will replace Kos not Per as Per is Captain.

but in cups it would be Gabriel and Chambers in the CB positions.

  17. Drake says:

Rico i believe that theo and gabriel are better than our starters, all they need is the mananger to be willing to take a risk, but wenger is too loyal to the players they should be displace from the starting line-up

  18. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. It’s fascinating and rather excellent to see the repulsive little creep entering a self-destruct cycle as he needs no help from anyone to completes his self-absorbed neuroses. There is a lot of baggage behind this ridiculous attack on the doctor. Jealousy, rage and I would imagine a fair amount of petulance too. A few more poor results and it should be quite a spectacle. I hope Wenger has the good sense to avoid the confrontation that the tiny man thrives on. When asked Arsene should should smile, with a calculated degree of pity and then say, “Let’s move on”. The one thing that creeps like Mourinho cannot stand is to be ignored.

  19. allezkev says:

Hayden crunches an opponent and should have been booked…

Hull winning 1-0 from the penalty spot…

Afobe to Villa you say Rico?
Not sure Wolves will sell unless it’s a big offer…

Sounds like Akpom is playing well.

  20. eduardo says:

Cech, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Coquelin, Ramsey, Cazorla, Ozlil, Alexis, Giroud
subs, Ospina, Debuchy, Gabriel, Gibbs, Arteta, Oxlade-chamberlain, Walcott

  21. rico says:

Morning Adam… Couldn’t agree more. Bet Roman wishes he hadn’t given him 4 extra years…..

Apparently so Kev, hope they don’t get him…

Got to nip to the shop for some flour, dumplings are on the menu… 🙂

  22. allezkev says:

I’ve read that Monreal is under contract until 2017…
So we could have him for two more years anyway…

  23. allezkev says:

    Cheers Coach, that’s quite a low fee…

I guess that we’ll have some clauses inserted in that deal…
Maybe a first refusal if Wolves did sell.
And/or a percentage of any profit Wolves would get if they cash in…
A bit like the Bentley sale to Blackburn…

  24. Wavy says:

This is dèjà vu! Same scenario as last week. We have possession we have shots on target, we have no goals!

    Yes we have. GIROUD

  25. Gdna says:

If AW doesn’t see the deficiencies in MF he needs to step aside. Ramsey needs to play for the team or go on the bench. imo

  26. bradster says:

    Hey all,
Strangely I felt more confident with O spina or Schezny in goal last season when it comes to shots from distance. Perhaps Cech is near sighted.

  27. ScottfromOz says:

Now is when you threaten me with a gun and hope Wenger goes to sleep and doesn’t wake up.
    Just saved you the trouble.

  28. rico says:

Scott, that’s out of order, I know you are on the beer but you know the hh way… And it’s not calling fellow goners dumb as dog shit!

  29. potter says:

Le Coq showing what he is , a good back up to the world class defensive midfielder that we don’t have. Very lucky to be on the pitch but at the pace that this game is being played at Arteta would be lost.

  30. rico says:

Gdna, you leave the troll comments alone or you’ll join Scott in the sin bin!

Grow up children!! You are ruining it for others

  31. ScottfromOz says:

    Rico,
Ask the person to say a single positive comment in Arsenal.
    Just once.
I doubt he has it in him.

  32. Gdna says:

Rico, i wasn’t rude or disrespectful to any poster and u see the insult that was hurled at me, and i reacted with the troll comment because its exactly what that was. I promised to behave on your blog and that is exactly what i’m doing.

  33. ScottfromOz says:

Adam, I thought the first yellow was harsh, but the second definitely deserved one.
Still, we will be winning from here, much to the detriment of some so called fans 🙂 🙂

  34. rico says:

Scott, I’m not here to tell fans how to think, that’s up to them and your comment was bang out of order… And you’ll realise that when you read it tomorrow…

  35. ScottfromOz says:

And I apologise for suggesting DNA threatened me with a gun, AND suggested Wenger should die in his sleep, even though its absolutely true.
I’m sure DNA is a truly lovely person.

  36. potter says:

A DCM that can tackle and distribute and do the job that Santi and Coq are doing would free up a place for Ramsey in the middle or Theo as a second striker.

  37. Wavy says:

Yes old chap. Not at all ticketty boo. The fellows got a little heated, I thought fishy cuffs we’re going to ensue.
All calm now, unlike the footy. The result is far from certain, yet!

  38. Wavy says:

    11th then! Not 5th!
    Hard work that, as spectator!
This team has loads of goals in them, rather begs the question, why have we only scored 2 in 2?
    And,
Why have we conceded 2 in 2?
The team played well enough today but you could hardly call the finishing clinical. We had more than a few great opportunities to score, maybe 6! But we didn’t did we!
This is still work in progress we are far from being the finished article, yet!

I wonder what the midget will have to say about Wenger, Arsenal and today’s performance of our team? I’ll wager if the chavs lose he’ll have plenty to carp about in order to deflect from his team’s inevitable loss to the oilers?
3 points today, we only need another 37 to avoid relegation! My cup’s half full!

  39. retsub1 says:

    Afternoon Rico and the House

Nice to get a win under our belt and it was a big improvement on last week. Once again it exposed the DM problems. Le Coq is going to get suspended or injured sooner or later. I thought Arteta did ok when he came on, but he is not a 90 minute answer.

The one thing that did trouble me, was the last 15 minutes we seemed happy to let Palace have the ball. We can’t do that every week

  40. Micko says:

Snap, Ozil was wonderful, wouldn’t it be great to see him play a whole season for us and not just the usual 20-25 games, fingers crossed.

  41. eduardo says:

    ratings

Cech 6 – a bit flappy at corners, little he could about the goal

Bellerin 6 – steady in defence, did not join up with attack much, did put in the cross for our winner
Mertesacker 8 – thought he was very good
Koscielny 5 – not impressed with him, poor on the goal, and a few others times
Monreal 6 – steady in defense and did not join up with attack too much

Coquelin 6 – lucky not to be sent off, his passing was much better than last week
Cazorla 7 – kept things ticking along, not decisive enough in attack

Ramsey 6.5 – worked hard, seemed to have let the blame he got last week for not passing to Debuchy get to him, as he over did the laying off of the ball when he could have had a shot himself
Ozil 8 – very good, his passing and vision were involved in most of our best moves, assist for opening goal
Alexis 6.5 – missed two great chances in first half, messed up some other good moves, but highly involved in our winner

Giroud 7.5 – outstanding opening goal, worked hard.

    subs
Oxlade-Chamberlain 5.5 – some nice bits of play, needed to be sharper on a couple of our breakaways
Arteta 6 – couple of good tackles, one really vital one near the end in our area
Gibbs n/a – not on long

  42. scottfromoz says:

    Good result.
    Good performance.
We had the better of the play, better chances and deserved the win.
As with last week, we seem to get a lot of half chances, and not many easy ones, so the shots on goal stats are misleading.
Desperate defending and bodies blocking shots by the opposition won’t get the credit it deserves, because it’s easier for us to criticise our own players.
Girouds finish was sublime, and if Sanchez scored it, we’d all be claiming it as world class.
    Favourites………week in, week out.
I hope those criticising Ramsey can watch a replay with an open mind, because he was superb, but I doubt people could be so honest.
Honest appraisals of players seems to be something so many Arsenal fans are incapable of……….before anyone throws me in that category, Lee will vouch for the fact I criticised a certain Welsh lad last week.
Heaven forbid we give credit to an opposition side guys.
Oh and on Coquelin….his first challenge was NEVER a yellow, yet it out his entire game in jeopardy.
Second as easily a yellow, but maybe the ref realised what a cock up he made the first time.

  43. rico says:

Scott, read back my friend, the goal scored by Ollie was singled out for high praise, one comment simply read ‘WC’…….

  44. Dublingunner says:

Afternoon, flying visit, good entertaining, energetic, box-to-box, high-tempo game, few nervous moments near the end, but should of put it to bed really in the first half. Ozil was a joy to watch, both Santi and Giroud were excellent imo. Still no clean sheet, but heh 3 points, this hopefully is the start of long winning sequence, well done, lads.

  45. Gdna says:

Rico, no good ball player last under JM, this will be Fabregas last season under him. He might bring on Zouma for Fabregas. lol.

  46. scottfromoz says:

Rico, one comment………what about the weeks and weeks of “he’s not good enough” and “should be sold”?
He cops stick for not finishing and when he does, the worst offenders are silent, but that’s to be expected lol.
    Benzema…no.
We do need another striker, but one of a different type.
One that offers a totally different option.

  47. rico says:

Scott, I get where you are coming from, I really do but why stress yourself over it. Reality is, AW lives him and he’s going nowhere so we can moan all we like but it won’t change… There are days when he frustrates the heck out of me but on days like today, I get why Wenger stands by him…

The ball from Ozil was good but the way Ollie finished, and off balance, was top top class.

  48. Adam says:

They’re preparing the dwarf’s strait jacket I imagine. He should join Costa in a padded cell
We are still way too flakey for me and give the ball away in silly situations all the time. Monreal was good, Ramsey was ok but wasteful, Ox needs to play when he hasn’t got the ball, Cech worries me and I can see that Coq is going to have a hard season in the midst of the action.
Surely we need some intelligence in the team and its not hard to see why Arsene has retained Arteta.

  49. scottfromoz says:

Rico, I’m not aiming up at you, and you know that.
I aim up at people who are hypocrites.
Those who will criticise at any given chance, yet fall silent when credit is warranted.
Those who, two years ago, said “we’d never win a trophy under Wenger”, then changed a year or so back to “we will never win a PL under Wenger”.
Thank god there’s very, very few of these type of “fans” in this group.

  50. Micko says:

Scott, only a couple of weeks back you said “Wenger IS the best manager in the world”……..no-one’s perfect !

  51. rico says:

Agree Adam re Costa and Mourinho, two absolute gits and I’m so glad AW didn’t sign Costa, he’s horrid. In fact he shouldn’t be a footballer as he’d be better off on WWF or whatever it’s called….

  52. scottfromoz says:

    Adam, I know.
As much as I mouth off, and as much as I show faith in the players we do have, I also concede we’ve dropped the ball this TW.
Usually, I can come up with excuses why we haven’t signed players, even if my justifications aren’t totally warranted, but this time, I have nothing.
Wenger should have signed Lacazette, IMO, and probably Vidal.
60-70 million spent, and we’d be odds on favourites to win the League.
Just my opinion, of course, but I reckon they’d have been sensational signings.

  53. rico says:

Scott, I know you’re not but my point is, no matter what others think or feel, don’t get so stressed, it’s not worth it….

If I got so wound up about opinions on here, I’d be left talking to myself…. ?

  54. scottfromoz says:

Micko, I still believe that, but your right, nobodies perfect.
That’s why I’ve always said he should have nothing to do with transfer negotiations 🙂

  55. Adam says:

It’s lucky we are such a righteous team, otherwise what would the PL be except a cheats charter played by millionaires who don’t understand good old British decency and fair play.
    The Corinthian spirit even.

  56. scottfromoz says:

Adam, plenty laugh at the English stiff upper lip, and all of that, but really, it’s something to be proud of, IMO.
Losing with class truly is more admirable than winning with none, in the humble opinion of this Aussie.
My previous post was either Ill-timed, or timed to perfection….I’m not sure lol

  57. Adam says:

Scott. I reckon that, if you are a Man City fan who have been eating ManUtd’s dirt for years, you won’t give a monkeys.
I see Brenda’s there. The flash from his newly whitened teeth just visible above the seat in front is unmistakable. The Botox is working too.

  58. Adam says:

I wonder whose fault Mourinho will say this is? My bet is on Atkinson not sending Fernandhino off. The only certainty is it won’t be anything to do with him. It could be Eva Carneiro distracting the players all week I suppose.

  59. scottfromoz says:

Adam, I’m tipping he cleaner will cop the arse lol.
    Rico,
Aguero would make us near unbeatable, IMO.
    Suarez, likewise.
    Bugger 🙂
    3-0.
    I’m enjoying this.

  60. rico says:

He’ll have excuses prepared Adam…. That’s for sure.. Maybe he’ll blame Arsene Wenger.

Chelsea have problems imo, and as I said to a friend of mine earlier, I think a big storm is brewing. Bring it on….

  61. rico says:

I think it will be Scott. There’s so much going on there, something serious is wrong. Seriously wrong and it came from Portugal….

  62. scottfromoz says:

    Lol, Adam.
As you said a week or two back, shaking our lads hands was an orchestrated move.
    He’s a little prick.
Rico, Joe Say brings short term success, but at what expense?
Clubs that sign him deserve what they get 🙂

  63. arsenal11730 says:

Good win, not sublime but 3pts.
SC19, Ozil,OG,Ramsey and Nacho decent games. Cech needs time to settle with new backline as he looks dodgy on crosses. We need his coach Chris Lochillon to sign on. It will take a few weeks to get into speed.
AW listened to us with SC19 and LeCoq pairing . Once again Le Coq proved to us that he could be a liability with sendoff or suspension. We need another DM. Happy for 3pts.Come on You Reds. Cheers

  64. Wavy says:

Delicious! Stuffed ’em. Loath though I am to say this but, well done shitty. What a win! Against the poison pigmmy’s eleven. Whose fault is it? The Manager of course, except tint Teflon will accept no fault on his part. As said above it will be the Wenger factor he’s planted his seed of failure and hexed the chavs! Long may continue. I’m enjoying this….so far!
My bet is that The micro moron has been told ha cannot buy any new players and he’s spat his dummy out

  65. eduardo says:

“John Terry had no injury, I’m the one who gave him a chance at Chelsea,” says Mourinho.

and despite Beogvic being their best player and still losing 3-0 the poison dwarf said CFC were the better team.

  66. Wavy says:

Agreed Scott. He’s having a mardy as we say in the north! Well hurrah for that and long may it continue. Finishing no better than fifth would be excellent in our House, wouldn’t it?

  67. arsenal11730 says:

Agree Rico on Selhurst Park with great supporters. Im a happy Gooner. Interesting comments re SC19 from AW post match.

Cazorla in important the start of the game when the ball comes from our defenders, because he can pass from deep midfield to high midfield BETTER than everybody and get out of pressure. That’s why I positioned him more central. He is NOT any more a player on the flanks who can overlap and cross the ball.

  68. rico says:

Eduardo, I’ve just listened to Mourinho. .he actually said that his side were the better one in the second half but said City were better in the first half….

But of course, he talks bollox, Chelsea were no threat on City’s goal at all, 6-0 would have been more realistic….

  69. arsenal11730 says:

Jose may be imploding. Good for us. Man City look favourites. We need to be in the hunt now after we smell possible weakness, infighting at the Chavs with Terry subbed, owner and missus upset with doctor fiasco.

  70. tsgh says:

Scoot – ”Adam, imagine Arteta with an extra two yards of pace?
    What a player he’d be…….does he exist?”

2 do exist- Gonalon and Asier Illarramendi

  71. tsgh says:

My chav neighbour must be the only man who is happy Jose lost today…

He never wanted Jose back and he would love him out asap..

Apparently, Roman does not want to give Hoe-say any more money…

  72. Tai says:

    Evening All…

    Good post Rico…

Good win today…nervy yes…I actually expected ab two-goal margin win…it could have been more but I’ll take the three points.

Next week, Liverpool will fall too.

  73. Tai says:

Two things make my weekend…an Arsenal win or a Chelsea loss…when both come same weekend, it’s cloud nine…

  74. arsenal11730 says:

Rico Emirates will never be like that because the stewards are touchy. Selhurst reminds me of the grounds from the 80s. Highbury was a blast in both North Bank and Clock End when standing room only. i certainly have some fond memories and a few brawls. I remember one game against Spurs in the North Bank 15mins into the game a group of Spurs fans about 60-80 started to chant We Hate Arsenal We Hate Arsenal. Pandemonium broke out. Those were the days……

Safe in the knowledge that he has a new 4 year contract in his skyrocket…

Watch him engineer more publicly embarrassing situations for Chelsea until Roman had to sack him..,

Then he’ll toddle off to Serie A with a few million in redundancy..,

    And the beat goes on…

  76. tsgh says:

Even though stats mean f all…

Mesut Ozil created 5 chances in the game including one assist – more than anyone else in the game so far. 😉

  77. tsgh says:

    🙂 kev so so true.

I think he has his eyes on Monaco or Psg.

Mangala having a very good game, he will be disappointed when City inform him after the match that he is off to Valencia on loan.

  78. allezkev says:

    Ginge, he really wanted ManUre…

Inter would take him back in a heartbeat, but PSG is a good shout, I just wonder if Ligue Un is a big enough stage for his ego?

  79. rico says:

Kev, did you see the article in the Mail? Apparently Roma and his wife are fuming and they are too scared to approach Mourinho because of his 4 year deal… Lol

  80. tsgh says:

Kev- I think you are right re Inter. before Erick Thohir took over I would have said no way would Inter welcome him bck but the new owner has a bit of cash to burn and so…

The cynic in me says Moanrinho only wants a blank cheque.

He will even go to Qatar if he can play real life football monopoly…

  81. allezkev says:

No Rico, I didn’t see that, but there’s been suggestions that all is not well at the Bridge.
    Good isn’t it? 😀

  82. allezkev says:

Rico, I would imagine that Roman feels quite unwell after having handed the Portugese Prick that bumper contract…

It’s great watching them tear themselves apart…

  83. tsgh says:

I think Mourinho’s obsession with Arsenal and Wenger will only get worse over the next few months sadly; Mourinho talking about Wenger again: “Some clubs are disappointed for 15 years & the manager is still the same”.

  84. Drake says:

As i promised rico arsenal are about to sign keeper jiminez and try to sign one of highly rates real betis player called cabellos(dont think it a name) and maybe that polish player…

Man city are about to sign otamendi and are also trying to sign de bryuna

  85. tsgh says:

    No AFCON 2016 tick.
    Yaya toure on form. tick
    Goals galore Tick.
    Kompany on form. tick
Aguero and Silva in harmony. Tic

The only spanner could be that they don’t have an English CB.

The last time they won the league they still had Lesscott even though he was just a bit part player.

  86. Micko says:

It could all hinge on whether or not they remember Yaya’s birthday tsgh !

Girouds 1st goal in 9 league games, the fella’s on a roll, scored against Palace in the last 3 seasons now.

  87. Drake says:

Ts i did say dortmund is back and everyone is on form from defence to attack bayern should really worry…but if arsenal do get aubemiyang things could change

  88. scottfromoz says:

Ginge, your 6.36…..either of those guys available, because if they’re as you say, they just have to be superb signings for us.
I truly hope Joe Say ends up on Australia 🙂

  89. Lee says:

Wenger on Coq….. “He didn’t deserve a yellow card but the pressure was on to get him sent off. “I had thought about it at half-time, when the pressure was already there. After the last foul I thought there was not much room now.

“Every time he intervened, the crowd were behind it and putting pressure on the referee. I didn’t like to take him off after 60 minutes, but I didn’t have much room.”

    I didn’t see it that way but…..

  90. Lee says:

I just hope Wenger adds a couple of top drawer players so we can compete for the PL and CL…..otherwise the Sanchez’s etc may consider moving to another club.

  91. Adam says:

Morning Rico, Brudder and all. I completely get what Arsene was saying. It depends what level the ref sets for a yellow card. Wickham yesterday committed several fouls including a nasty elbow, after the ball had gone, into Per’s ribs. Yellow card? Not according to Mason. Arteta was dragged back while moving out of defence. No yellow. I think we are moving toward a place where, if a player goes down while contesting the ball, a yellow is often produced. It’s a matter of opinion and debate I suppose. I see it’s a fine line where the ref must consider intent too.
But the more disturbing thing is that Pardew is allowed to approach Mason at half time and tell him that Coquelin must go if he commits one more foul. According to Pardew Mason nods in agreement. This can’t be right.

  92. rico says:

    Ditto Lee.

If AW didn’t realise before, yesterday should have drummed home that Coquelin is at some stage going to be banned… lol

  93. rico says:

    Morning Adam..

What Pardew said afterwards, if true, is disgraceful. Mason should not be getting involved in such stuff. Maybe that’s why he didn’t send Coquelin off… lol

  94. potter says:

I think Mason was well aware of what was happening and also probably realised that Pardew had sent his players out to get him off. This is why he spoke to Mertesacker and I think told him to get him off before the pressure became too much. Was it common sense refereeing or just plain chickening the situation ?

  95. tsgh says:

    Morning all…

I thought Mason was ok yesterday. Mason is the only ref who guarantees us a win.. if there is such a thing.

Morning Rico, potter and all btw

  96. Wavy says:

Mason ref’d very well. His priority above all others is to attempt to keep 22 players on the field of play for 90+ minutes. When he had a word with Per it was to warn the captain that one more incident with the Coq and he’d have to go, he probably included in that a message to the manager would be wise to sub him off.
I witnessed the refs intervention on a number of occasions during junior games, whilst the player may not be happy at least the damage was limited.
Hats off to Mason! For once we were on the end of ‘sensible’ intervention and long may his wisdom be an example. To some of the more enthusiastic card issuers!

    Morning all.

  97. tsgh says:

    Scott- those players are available.

In Gonalons’ case- he was ahead of Morgan in the French national team; he had a very solid season last season playing in the CDM role in a 4-1-4-1 lyon formation.

Maybe his showing in the Emirates cab will not make him a fans favourite…

Unfortunately AW and Aulas would need a special UN envoy to broker a deal… 😉
It appears it sonly in football that personal feelings come into play with business.

Assier- was bought for big money 2 seasons ago but has been a fringe player since then especially with the arrival of Kroos. Odd that even Ramos was favoured over Assier in CM in the latter stages of last season when Modric was out.
Maybe with Khedira gone, he suspects he has a future…
I think he probably needs some sort of guarantee.

There has been rumours that we have asked for silva on loan or that RM want to sell him but we want him on loan.. no one knows.
