Time for Arsenal to capitalise…. Gabriel – Arsenal’s Mr ‘nice guy’…..

Morning all.

Question of the day.

Should the word ‘Arsenal’s’ have an apostrophe? I checked Word and each option I checked, ‘your good to go’ popped up. Still confused, I thought I’d check how it’s spelt in the Telegraph as they are pretty good for punctuation and there it was, ‘Arsenal’s’ so I went with that. Right choice?

Sergio Aguero has suffered a hamstring injury which could keep him out of the game for a month. City will struggle without him, as his goals have been crucial over the years and certainly this season. David Silva could be joining him too as he suffered injury whilst playing for his country last night and had to be replaced after just ten minutes.

We know what it’s like to lose a key player and right now, just imagine how we’d be without Theo Walcott, Alexis or one of our centre backs? We’ve already lost Lauren Koscielny through injury, how would we cope if either Gabriel or Merts had to miss a few matches?

Francis Coquelin. Very under-rated by some, yet in my opinion, so key to our performances. There’s others too, Bellerin, Monreal, Santi! Doesn’t bear thinking about does it?

But for City to lose their main man, means a lack of goals. If they lose their creator in Silva, it’ll be tough for them.

We have a few tasty fixtures ahead and if we can keep on playing the way we did against Utd, we may just take advantage of their injury situation.

On the international front. Alexis played the entire match as he and his Chilean team-mates beat Brazil. Mesut Ozil wasn’t as fortunate as Germany lost their European qualifier. Both matches were played out on Thursday..

Last night, England played and Theo Walcott scored again to help secure a 2-0 victory. Santi Cazorla was in fine form too as he scored twice to help Spain beat Luxembourg 4-0. Tonight sees Aaron Ramsey in action for Wales as they look to secure European Championship qualification for the first time in a while and Petr Cech will no doubt be in goal for the Czech Republic who face Turkey.

Finally, a few words from our tough defender, who says his desire to help his mother escape the area he once lived in, gave him the motivation needed to succeed as a footballer. The below is from Arsenal.com:

She lived in a shack in a favela. I talk about it because I am not ashamed of saying it, and today I am proud of being able to help her, to give her a better life, and me as well because I always dreamed about it. Thanks to God, things are coming true.

I have seen many things on the outdoor neighbourhood pitches. I have seen death, I have witnessed robberies, I’ve been robbed in Sao Paulo. I’ve seen many things. I practically grew up with this. But thanks to God I took a path in my life because, for all that I have seen, for the bad things I have witnessed, my life could have been very different.

But I was strong. I thought about my mother’s story and told myself that my mother couldn’t go through this anymore. She can’t, she must have a better life. So thanks to God I took a different path and am here today. I am fulfilling a dream I had since I was little, and thanks to God things are moving in the right direction.

Everybody knows about the corruption happening, and every day is a surprise, so I think Brazilians don’t like seeing that, but the kids have so many opportunities to play. Every neighbourhood has a football academy for the kids to follow this path, which is something I also want for the neighbourhood where I was born.

I want to serve as a mirror to them, for them to see that I have gone through difficult times and managed to do it, and see that they can do it too. It’s not just me. If you work hard and respect the people above us, you can do it.

See, football does have a good side…..

I’m off out today so catch up later.

Have a great day in the sunshine guys…..

Morning Rico and all. I would use a single apostrophe in that example as in “Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger”. Two apostrophes looks clumsy to me and I doubt I would get it past my editors.

An apostrophe is a belonging signal. As there in a footballing sense is only one Arsenal
then only 1is required. My school education that finished in 1964 told me that following a plural the ‘ follows the s.
However things have changed Americanism is prevalent and who knows what language kids in the inner cities are speaking nowadays.
Writing is unimportant to them because their phones can make all their mistakes for them.

Arsenal’s sound about right. It’s been a while since we had a fully fit squad to run us all season. I bet it would be magical.

Definitely mancs will drop in quality without the mentioned duo, we need to capitalize on that.

Well done Adam and Potter, I fee like you, not enough reading is carried out by many youngsters. Reading helps improve spelling and grammar all round.
I went to Olympiacos and Machester United matches, it was like having watched 2 different teams…
Hoping that after the International break, the team carry on with the same drive, tenacity and will to win that was shown against United.

  5. Marshall says:

Hi all, I think Arsenal’s sounds OK. Could this be the season we go injury free and see how good our squad is? Bar Welbeck if all the guys keep fit I believe we can go the distance.

I bet with the mancs will drop quality with the duo missing. Time we capitalize and give the rest a bit of a gap. Lovely day house mates.

Having Sanchez at the club has been a bit of an eye opener for some of the team I think. His work rate, closing down the opposition, work off the ball and general all round levels of fitness has rubbed off on other players, well maybe not Ozil..
    Such a good signing.

Tony Adams. What an inspirational Captain and player. Probably the type of player never to be seen again in terms of his loyalty to one club.
Had problems off the pitch but once in a football kit, the problems were left in the changing room and he gave his all in every game for both club and country. Had the pleasure to meet him in 95 with my 2 young sons. Polite, well mannered and a very under stated man.
Could do with a leader like him both for England and Arsenal.

    Evening all…

Adam, oh to have an editor eh.. 😉

Word works just fine though, usually, although it did let me down the other day… 😉

  9. Madhav - Indian Gunner says:

All our players triumphed for their countries in this week (except Ozil)…
I saw the goal of Walcott. His timing for the runs are Superb…
Hope to see him as a complete player (like in ManU match)…

Rapids, Arsenal partnership discussed this week in London
    By Daniel Boniface
    The Denver Post
Arsenal, Colorado Rapids, jason kreis, Manchester City, NYCFC, Paul Bravo, Samuel Galindo, Tim Hinchey
What will the Rapids’ relationship with Arsenal look like moving forward?

It’s a question that could begin to get answers this week as Rapids President Tim Hinchey and Vice President of Soccer Operations Paul Bravo are in England to meet with Ivan Gazidis, chief executive of Arsenal.
Hinchey said one thing discussed at the meeting would be how the two clubs can further collaborate in a meaningful way.
Both clubs are under the same ownership umbrella — Kroenke Sports & Entertainment. This week, Hinchey noted the Manchester City/New York City FC relationship when discussing his meeting with Arsenal.
NYCFC Coach Jason Kreis has said his expansion club can bring in up to four Man City players on loan when it joins MLS in 2015.

    Morning All

Interesting reports coming out that the Ethics Commitee of FIFA (lmao at that title) have discovered new evidence of possible criminality from Blatter and Platini (take note Adam) that could see them both banned from any kind of football, for life…

By ‘discovered new evidence’ we should probably read, re-discovered and swept under the carpet, but now a the right time, when both Blatter & Platini are politically weak, to revisit it, put the boot in, sacrifice B&P in the hope that investigators don’t delve too deep and discover the criminality of many other officials/hangers-on at FIFA.

The whole thing is rotten to the core…

It needs to be torn down and a new organisation should take its place..,

Then the investigators should turn their attention to UEFA, then to national FA’s and maybe referees organisations?

SKY and BT won’t be happy, but frankly, they’re a symptom of the corruption that football is riddled with….
