Tierney on the move? Three return for Leicester City game?

Morning all.

Man City are reported to be interested in signing Kieran Tierney this summer. That is according to The Mirror. What would be the point in Arsenal agreeing to this, unless the club have another left back lined up because to lose Tierney now would put us right back, no pun intended, back to where we were prior to Oleksandr Zinchenko joining the club. Maybe next summer Pep.

Arsenal take on Leicester City tomorrow at The Emirates. It’s a 3pm kickoff and how I’d love to be there. I reckon the place will be electric and why wouldn’t it be? The fans were loud and proud last season so this time around, after a summer which has seen a number of fantastic players join the club, a really good pre season as well as an opening victory over a tough Crystal Palace side, I reckon the support and noise will go up a level. Could this be the season The Emirates Stadium becomes a place other clubs fear going to?

Perhaps I’m getting carried away but I’m optimistic, really optimistic about the next ten months. In fact I can’t recall the last time I felt as optimistic but I’m pretty sure Arsene Wenger was the manager and we were still playing at Highbury. Anyway, that was then and this is now and now we have a good squad. A very good squad.

Leicester City appear to be in a bit of trouble. Kasper Schmeichel has moved on, Wesley Fofana could yet leave if the right offer comes in, Youri Tielemans is expected to be sold as his contract expires next summer and Brendan Rogers has said the club need to balance their books and may not make any signings this summer. Six years ago they won the Premier League and now they’re struggling. Food for though eh..

Gabriel Magalhaes talking to Sky Sports about Gabriel Jesus:

Gabriel is a really good guy. Of course, it helps that we have the Brazilian link. When we were on international duty, we discussed his future and I was telling him, Come to Arsenal! Come to Arsenal! Maybe I had a bit of an influence there.

During the same interview, he said:

I am very happy here. I’ve got a good relationship with my team-mates and I am fully committed to the project.

There it is again, that word “project”.

The positive news coming out of the club is that Fabio Vieira, Emile Smith Rowe and Takehiro Tomiyasu were all involved in training this week. The latter played 45 minutes of the U21s’ 3-1 win against Manchester United which will have helped his return to full fitness.

I’m really looking forward to seeing Vieira in action, Marquinhos too but as yet, I’ve not spotted him in the training photos on the official website. Despite Marquinhos arriving this summer, Arsenal are still linked with signing a winger but in my opinion, a midfielder should be the priority.

As for Leicester City, they’ve got injuries. Ricardo Pereira ruptured an Achilles during the clubs final pre-season fixture and won’t be back until 2023. Harvey Barnes and Ryan Bertrand are ruled out of tomorrow’s game too.

Here’s a stat for you from Arsenal.com – Since Leicester were promoted to the Premier League in 2014/15, we have won six and drawn one of our eight matches at Emirates Stadium, the most recent being a 2-0 win back in March with Thomas Partey and Alexandre Lacazette getting on the scoresheet. The Foxes’ only win on our patch since 1973 came the season before when Vardy grabbed the only goal of the game, who also netted late on in the 1-1 draw between the sides in the tail end of Project Restart in 2020.

I think I’m right in saying that we were the only team to beat Leicester City both home and away during their Premier League winning season. Much has changed in those six years though both on and off the pitch for both clubs. Out of the two though, I think it’s Arsenal who are on the up.

See you in the comments.

    Good day Rico.

I doubt Tierney will be leaving for City this summer. They have other fish to fry and are activley chasing another target.

Hector Bellerin is wanted by Real Betis and he wants a move but only to Betis, they are pressing Edu to cancel the right back’s contract as they can’t afford a £5 million fee. I wouldn’t be surprised to read that Edu has acceded to their wishes and will be happy to cut another slice off of our wage bill.

As far a tomorrow’s match is concerned, Leicester are there for the taking, they are just the sort of team that we should be beating if we wish to improve on last season’s final placing.

Bit worried by rico and Cicero’s confidence. Whenever I get that optimistic about Arsenal, things go wrong!

    Everyone but us four are!
Same team expected as last week? Unless White, who was seen in a brace, struggling?

    Good morning all.

Match day and the temperature in London at kick off is forecast to be 34 c rising to 35 c by half time. As the game is not being shown live I’ll be following commentary in the garden sitting in the shade of the apple tree.

Hopefully you won’t have to contemplate the “gravity” of the situation should things not go to plan.
By rights we should be looking at 3 points today but always at the back of my mind is the question of which Arsenal turns up. It’s going to be hot and the tendency to take things easier is always there. Tactically I would suggest pushing for an early fast start , go for a good early lead 2 or more . Make a few substitutions and manage the game from then on.
    Easy on paper isn’t it.?

    Very Newtonian Potter. 😉

City close to signing Anderlecht fullback Sergio Gomez for €10 million. How much did we pay for Zinchenko? They’re replacing him and making a tidy profit on the deal. Tierney to stay, as I said yesterday.

    Afternoon guys.

Unchanged 11 then. Pepe on the bench and AMN nowhere to be seen. Guess he’s off then, unlike Nelson who’s injured.

    Cracking day…….all round.

Any chance that the scum to adding a little more icing to our almost decorated cake?? Here’s hoping.
