Three set to miss Sunday & Six days for Arsene to change…..

Morning all.

So that is that done and dusted, a 2-0 victory last night, giving us a 5-0 result overall, secured our place in tomorrows Champions League draw but it came at a price:

That is the negative of the evening. We paid a heavy price on the injury front as we lost Podolski.

I don’t know how bad Ramsey is, I don’t know how Wilshere will respond to an ankle problem. We have to check that in the morning but he should be all right for Sunday. The tackles on Wilshere were disappointing.

Podolski, though, is definitely out for 21 days [it was later suggested he could be out for five weeks]. And we have to check how severe Ramsey’s groin is.

Some cynics might suggest that had we had a bigger and stronger squad, a few players could have been rested last night but you can’t swap Ramsey for Frimpong can you and poor old Tomas needed a rest too and Sanogo, well maybe he should be on loan rather than on the bench….

We know the squad is thin, today it’s even thinner, in fact it’s almost transparent.

Jack Wilshere was battered from pillar to post, especially in the second half. The ref dealt with each incident with a booking but the Turks were clever, not one player caught him twice. Dirty tactics! As was the desperation dive for a penalty, something which players here in the Premier League have been sent off for….

The dirty tricks and cheating just confirmed what the eye could see, a horrid group of players who over the two legs, have been simply awful. I hope Uefa now stand by their original decision to ban them from the Champions League and we certainly never face them again..

As said, two goals were enough and both were scored by Aaron Ramsey. The first some my say was fortunate as the through ball to Welshman came from one of the Turks but credit where it’s due, Walcotts pressure on the defender forced the error and Ramsey was in the right place to slot home.

The second though came about through good football, almost great football. A few quick passes down the left and Kieran Gibbs cross found Ramsey. The latter finished with a super placed shot on the volley into the bottom right hand-side corner of the net. Had the old badger finished in such a fashion, the footballing world would be shouting from the rooftops. He didn’t, but our man did and that goal made sure the Turks really were dead and buried.

Szczesny made a couple of good saves, especially one within the first ten minutes after a sloppy play from the defence but other than that, Fenerbache barely really troubled him…

Theo rattled the bar with a free kick which dipped at the last moment, another few centimetres and he would have got on the score-sheet with the only free kick he managed to get over the defence wall. Apart from that and plenty of wonderful footwork again from the little midfield maestro, there’s not much else to write about. Ramsey was awarded the Motm award again for his all round display and of course his stunning second strike.

We ended the match with just ten players as Aaron Ramsey, also victim of a few rough tackles had to leave the pitch with a groin injury, hopefully it’s not serious and he’s fit for Sunday. However…

A good result and another £30 million in the bank……

Juan Mata’s father, who also happens to be his agent was allegedly sat in the directors box which has sparked talk about us trying to sign the player – I’d really like that to happen. After the game, Arsene Wenger was asked if Mata’s father had been invited as a guest of Arsenal,

No. I don’t know. Maybe.

Of course he knows, he knows everything doesn’t he?

The empty seats on display last night was incredible – there were so so many. Fans are clearly not happy or simply can’t be bothered, signings like Mata would bring them back.

Six days left for Arsene Wenger to finally make the kind of signings which will make this squad stronger and certainly a lot deeper and with it, draw those fans back.

He has no excuses, none whatsoever, we have money, plenty of it. We are a football club, not a bank. The money is the clubs, not his and it’s money that fans have parted with one way or another…

It’s time to give something back to those fans.

Wenger needs to stop scrimping and saving and messing around in this transfer window, the club name, players and fans are the ones who are suffering and only Wenger can change that.

Stop the talk, start walking the walk…….

That’s it for another day…

good display last night, we did what was needed. Looking forward to Sunday’s test to see where we are, although it will take them some time for them to to gel properly i guess. Scott will be going crazy today over his shining knight! Did well and deserved his reward.

  2. ozgunner says:

I don’t get this Mata’s Dad being there stuff? Where did this rumour come from and if he was there, there could only be one reason for that surely? Is he what we need as it would undoubtedly cost us other (more important?) signings.

  3. devilgunner says:

Good Morning Lady, Sir, Gentlemen and Ladies.

Nice summary Rico. I would have added that one of the fouls on Wilhsere should have been a red card seeing that it was cynical, intentional to stop the player at all costs and it could have hurt JW.

Incidentally if JW is fit and Aaron likewise I think it would be wise to put him on the left wing again. The spuddies may not expect him there and he may tear them a new one.

    I would go with

    Aaron, Rosicky
    Theo, Cazorla, Wilshere,
    Giroud.

Cazorla and Wilshere can interchange between them, but I feel that JW and Theo can keep their full backs quiet and near the spuddies penalty area. JW would put Walker in his pocket.

But I feel it will be Gibbs who plays on the left wing with Monreal at FB.

  4. rico says:

I thought we did what we needed to do and that’s it, I’m sure there is more in the tank if needed. Just annoyed that the Turks dished out some naughty stuff to a few, especially Jack..

Losing Pod is bad enough but if Wilshere and Ramsey are injured too, we are going to get battered on Sunday unless AW pulls his finger out..

  5. devilgunner says:

unless we get Mata that is.

If we get Mata that would mean……….Podolski goes up front with Olivier. No striker bought.

Di Maria would not be bought.

    Cabaye would be bought.

    Flamini resigned.

Get an unknown defender from the middle of God knows where.

And that will be our TW expenses.

But then remember that it is AW we are talking about.

  6. rico says:

Morning devil, maybe, but I am not a qualified ref so I cannot really say…

The dive for a penalty though, could easily been a red, van Bronkhorst will vouch for that when we played Liverpool a few years back. Only difference is he didn’t dive..

  7. devilgunner says:

    Chezzer was bursting to laugh.

He sold the Turkish player shortly. He braked when he saw him commit and stopped himself from even making contact. That was clever of him.

It simply put the opposite player as a ridiculous JACKASS.

    A right PLANK.

  8. rico says:

Goodness only knows who or if he will sign, but he sure better had.

Fed up with all this ‘we are working on it, we are trying hard in the market’ spin to the media..

CL secure, go and sign players and get this squad sorted. Even Ramsey made it quite clear who thin this squad is, albeit he seemed rather embarrassed to do so at the time…

  9. Lawrence says:

Thanks rico for another dose of HH
Why is it just once a year that some fans get to question Wenger direct? How I would love for someone to ask your question. When will you go and spend the clubs, the supporters money which they want you to do? Its not his club his money its everyone involved witg AFC.

Our first eleven I would pay and watch week in week out but football has changed and you cant go a season of 60 games using 13 players I dont why but its just not possible. After last night our squad come Sunday could be will be very thin and I hope and pray they come through with a positive result, win or draw. We need all the players being mention signed with a few others. It want happen though as wenger wont spend HIS money.

Our one and only signing looked like a lost child in park last night and to see him hinding his face when Bruno Alves was taking a free kick was a joke. Even for the 10k per week he is on you can kick balls in my face all day. What a joke signing. It was good to see merts have a right go him and rightly so.

Next up the Spuds come on you gunners unfortunately prob no new signings

  10. Adam says:

Morning Rico. It was warm at the Emirates last night and there were thousands of empty seats to watch a truly ghastly team from Turkey. The game was a non-event, the crowd was quiet as the only real consideration was to get through without any injuries. The Turks tried their hardest to make sure this didn’t happen and this combined with Podolski’s sprint down the line in the early moments of the second half made this a vain hope. That Poldi should do himself damage just about the first time in the game he bothered to stretched his hamstrings was hardly poetic.
As per usual with Wenger’s teams these days, the sub plots were rather more interesting than the game. With Le Quiff having something of a quiet time, my question yesterday as to our central striking options, were answered when YaYa Sanogo made an appearance. If he is going to be worth the £50 million in two years that Arsene claims he has a fair way to go. He’s a young boy, obviously nervous, slung into a situation, so I don’t want to criticise him but, if he is the only central striking option to Giroud this season, then it will be unfair on him and a scandalous affront to the fans. But there are still a few days to go until the window closes, so we, as per usual, will have to wait and see. The current situation was all that any of the brainwashed idiots at the game last night could talk about.

  11. rico says:

Thanks Lawrence. Can’t disagree with that, other than to say anything other than a win on Sunday won’t do…

The Emirates will be full because its the NLD, if we sign no-one before Sunday and we lose, the place will erupt, maybe sooner if we go a couple of goals down…

What’s the point in AW facing the fans any way, all questions and answers are rehearsed…

  12. tsgh says:

    Morning all,

    A concise write-up of proceedings.

I am however, concerned about AW’s lack of authority with JW. He should have taken him off and not let JW tell control him… but hey…

I know Frimps had a knee surgery 3 months ago and has not had a full pre-season but a year ago AW was telling Hodgson to select Frimps for England as he had a huge future… I am sure 10 minutes in a game we are winning 5-0 won’t have done him any damage.

I am with you Dev, re your line-up for Sunday. It is crucial in my view that we have Tr07 to terrorise Dembele and Paulinho. We know it is highly likely Capoue will be assigned the task to mark our Cazorla so we need AR16 fit to run behind Capoue.

I am also wondering why Aneke and Miguel are on loan without replacements. Albeit, they are on an initial 6 months loan but we need bodies.

I am also puzzled why Eisfield and Nico are not even training with the senior squad at all…

  13. Induct says:

Nice display frm Wenger and d boys, looks like they’ve mature into hw Wenger wants them to play n dat explains his confidence and reluctance to buy. But those empty seats and injuries should awakening him. Credit to those fans for nt coming instead of makin d Ems uncomfortable. They rather did it wisely. Wenger finally learn to put Jack on d left and leave Santi center gud tactics

  14. bradster says:

I guess we’ll have to play like other teams do against us, soak up the pressure, keep it tight, let them commit more forward and catch them on the break. I see a Walcott hattrick if we do that.

  15. ozgunner says:

You are right Rico, a number of curve balls have been thrown at them at recent meetings, like is the American likely to start draining funds to prop up his other failing sports ventures and they are either read from an idiot sheet or simply avoided altogether.

  16. rico says:

Morning Adam, I am not surprised the ‘brainwashed idiots’ could only talk about the current situation, as it’s simply awful.

What are we, 4th, 5th richest club in the world and here we are with just six days to go and still waiting for one half decent signing…

    It’s a joke…

No Elin, you don’t have to agree with me, nor with anyone…

  17. Damilarey says:

AW clearly knows why Juan Mata snr was at the Emirate, he always denies any sign you’ll see about signning a
player as he knows that he will lwter decline from signning such a player, so if he let you in into the secrete, you may later try to castigate him for not eventually sign the player. He’s a total corning man.

  18. ozgunner says:

have you got the hump today Rico haha! Sorry couldn’t resist – of course you are right in asking the questions. Getting answers is your problem, we are all brain washed fools!

  19. Adam says:

Oz. He needs to be loaned out really. There are so many ramifications to what is happening at the moment that I can’t help wonder if there isn’t some great master plan.
Actually I am pretty sure there isn’t and that the whole thing is a massive cock-up.

  20. tsgh says:

The worst thing AW can do is allow the swampies to beat us before a 2 week hiatus…

We need options upfront. At this rate Akpom looks more composed than Yaya….
I still believe Yaya has the right movement to make it. His movement and pressure on the ball caused Alves to commit an error which lead to Gibbs assisting for the 2nd goal…

  21. devilgunner says:

    Adam is here again.

So yesterday was not a dream, not even a nightmare. 😉

Regarding Sanogo I will only ask one question.

If you want to know his level compare him to when Anelka made his first team debut in 1997. Do you see any difference? Any comparison?

And dont go telling me that both are completely different because both of them are playing in the same position….the spearhead of our attack.

  22. devilgunner says:

Pardew is a plank of the highest order.

The u-turn in the words has already started……Now if Cabaye goes, and that’s 50-50 in my opinion, we need to replace him. That would be very unsettling for me and our fans. The bottom line with a world-class player is that it would have to be world-class money for us to let him go.”

Its already 50/50 in his opinion.

Getting ready to face the fans imo. breaking it gently.

  23. Adam says:

Devil. Yes, I saw Anelka’s debut and his pace was always a threat. But then we did have some serious striking power in the team then. I remember his goal against Man Utd that heralded his arrival. As I say, it is unfair to criticise Sanogo.

  24. Lee says:

According to the media 59,000 fans at the Emirates last night….Adam were you in the brainwashed or non-brainwashed camp?

  25. ozgunner says:

Agree with Adam, we should realise his level is not there and these types of adventures can do as much harm as good. Also agree with tsgh, if it goes pear shaped on Sunday with the first real test….

  26. devilgunner says:

I am not criticizing him Adam. I am asking a question.

Lots of ifs and buts regarding Yaya. but it would be unfair as you said to make him as OG’s understudy at such a tender age and expect him to carry us.

  27. tsgh says:

Ba will do. I think at the moment he may even take a 10k pay cut but unless we can speak directly with Michael Emenalo or he can over rule Mauren, I can’t see Ba coming.

Ba will be the type of player who will be pleased to alternate with OG12 and Poldi.

  28. Adam says:

Morning Lee. Take 20,000 off that and you might be close. I think Wenger is screwing up big time so I am definitely brainwashed. I also bought burger and chips twice for some mates and some greasy batter and chips for two others, add 4 cokes and there wasn’t a lot of change out of a nifty. Further proof of my zombie-like status these days no doubt. Still, Mata’s father was perhaps in the stadium, so everything will be fine I think. A dying man will clutch at a straw.

  29. devilgunner says:

I do not see AW parting with millions to secure Di Maria, Ozil and Benzema.

But I think we will see him sign Mata, Torres and Cabaye plus freebie Flamoney.

  30. Adam says:

Dev. Grant effing Holt would make our striking options better at the moment or even Bent. Horrible, but true.

  31. devilgunner says:

what straw did you clutch Adam? 😉

    the one in the coke???

If so I think that not only you are brainwashed but also COKED.

    😆

  32. tsgh says:

IG has not made any comments recently… has he crawled back into his office after meeting his targets for the summer? Season tickets sorted, Asia tour a resounding success… another bonus coming his way I presume… hmm

Are his Havard Uni. analyst still crunching the financial viability of making signings?

  33. devilgunner says:

    Dont be miserable Ginge.

Diaby still needs to get out of bed. We have to see if he manages to get out safely.

Quick go and glue his carpet to the floor in case it slips under him!!!!! 😆

  34. tsgh says:

It appears Mathieu Flamini is taking nothing for granted at Arsenal.

The 29-year-old has been training with the first team for some time and manager Arsene Wenger is poised to hand his former player a contract to return following his release from AC Milan.

Yet Flamini is understood to be shunning simple perks enjoyed by the players until his deal is confirmed — despite several offers, the midfielder has so far refused to park his car in the area reserved for the first-team squad at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground.

Instead, the Frenchman has opted for a space further away from the front door, usually occupied by club staff and often used as a visitors’ overflow.

One interpretation of this is it shows clear evidence of the humble and thoughtful character Wenger is keen to re-employ as Arsenal bolster their squad with much-needed additions in the final week of the transfer window.

Surely, Flamini will jump at the chance to rejoin the Gunners: the deal makes sense on either side.

But after the summer Arsenal have had, Wenger could be forgiven for momentarily fearing it is proof another target is just passing through.

    From the Evening Standard

  35. tsgh says:

The legend Hristo Stoichkov speaks: 🙂

“If Bale is worth €100m, I would have been priceless,” he continued.

“No Englishman [sic] who came to Spanish football has ever succeeded.”

The likes of Jonathan Woodgate, Michael Owen and David Beckham have previously swapped the Premier League for La Liga, with the latter making over 150 official appearances for los Blancos during his four-year spell at the club.

  36. c2hills says:

Morning rico and all members of the community.

Its the club’s money, not his. But he is not the owner of the club rico, is he? Still waiting for reinforcements though.

  37. W.A.T.H says:

Someone just told me they seen Wenger in a trolley dash at Lidl’s in Barnet…? any truth in that one..?

  38. devilgunner says:

    Stoichkov is being genuine imo.

Bale is good because he plays in the English game where his power and speed are over everyone else.

In Spain he will be found out for the simple reason that his technique level is found wanting when one on one with an opponent in the wings.

I can assure you he will not achieve the same success he has achieved in England.

  39. tsgh says:

Very true Dev, only Linekar and Mcmanaman have excelled in Spain.

I hope the person advicing Bale has his best interest at heart…

  40. W.A.T.H says:

I was one of the 59,000 watching in the pub Lee, wouldn’t waste my money mate… When the club spends then I’ll invest again until such times i’m in the boozer with the chaps..!

  41. devilgunner says:

I am unhappy we did not get Bale.

He would have been bought for 5 million.

He would have baled us out on many occasions.

He would have fetched us 95 million on present valuation.

It would have been easier to conclude a deal for Di Maria, Benzema and Ozil. Straight player swap.

  42. c2hills says:

DG, Bale might do well if he is used as a striker a la Ronaldo. CR has been using more speed, power and precision than trickery imo.

  43. devilgunner says:

    Ginge 10.52am.

I am confused about the HIS in his ….I hope the person advicing Bale has his best interest at heart…

Does HIS refer to the agent??

    I do hope so. 😉

  44. Adam says:

Devil. If we had bought Bale and sold him for an £80 or £90 million profit, what good would that have been?

  45. tsgh says:

Hi CH… Bale is just going to be a rent boy with his baby pink t-shirt and baseball cap. lol

I didn’t realise Adidas had so much money to influence this most ridiculous deal…

Levy is just trying to delay the deal to ensure we do not get who we want from RM imho….

  46. Gabriel says:

I can’t understand the sturbon wenger. He is useless and the board too are stupid. The only care about there welfare the are not after fans. They are all idiots

  47. tsgh says:

Its dire Emma, the club hierachy are letting the fans down.

The excusing have ran out for Wenger. Last night he came close to saying what he has never said before; i.e he has done his bit, the people doing the deals have to do theirs…

I have nothing but hope now….

As usual it looks like AW would have to make the deals himself after Sunday as he has no competent assistance in my view…

  48. emma says:

No one knows what Wenger has up his sleeves. I am so frustrated that we haven’t being able to strengthen other areas other than the striker position until now.

Like some of us rightly observe, a loan move away from arsenal will be beneficial for Sanogo. Akpom looks better than him at the moment.

  49. W.A.T.H says:

Sanogo the new Kaba Diawara…. Lets hope not…! We’ve hardly strengthened the forward line with him have we…!

The impending trolley dash or utter let down is merely 5 days away then we all know…! Do we even have enough players to fill the bench Sunday..?

  50. c2hills says:

Holla Ginge. Why are arsenal fans conspiracy theorists?

Adam, £90 million would elevate us in the money league, isn’t that our priority?

  51. emma says:

The problem arsenal are having right now is wenger not wanting to pay above the odds to bring in players. We don’t have a father xmas like the chavs/manshitty that would right off the cheque in case the player(s) he bought at an overpriced level turns out to be a disappointment. So that element of fear instead of risk taking is still there.
This present squad is just crying for 3 quality additions and they could do it(trophies).

  52. Adam says:

Wath. Perhaps the transfer window is the board’s resignation letter for Wenger to sign as the window closes. For Arsene, we have already won the first trophy of the season by getting in the CL proper. This will ensure at least another £30 million and with that money we can…..ergh..mmm, that’s where it all gets a bit tricky really.

  53. ozgunner says:

tsgh – posted the same thing a while back I think Gaz and this Law guy are just not what is needed in todays market – having a DB or RP along would give the incoming, something to relate to. What the hell do those two offer in terms of footballing links

  54. Adam says:

Oz. Those chaps you mention are operating with the handbrake on. Wenger has Kroenke’s backing and he owns the club. It really is that simple.

  55. ozgunner says:

although having said the above, if the market demands a players worth at 20m and Wenger with his unique approach decides he’s worth 10m not much anyone can do hey?

  56. emma says:

oz – I don’t think the issue is with Law or Gaz but rather Kroenke and Wenger. I believe it’s Wenger that evaluates the player arsenal are in for and passes his judgement to Kroenke who respects Wenger so much. If Wenger doesn’t sanction how much bid is to be placed on a player I doubt Law or Gaz can do anything about it.

  57. tsgh says:

Oz-The painful thing is Law is/was a respected scout but he does not command the same clout as Zidane does when as an example a french player receives a call from Zouzou…

Law and Fox travel in suits making their whole process too formal for European football imho.

TH14 should be given that role when he retires imho.
DB10 would be idea but I am guessing he has missed his hypnotic session/appointments so he can’t still fly. 🙂

Martin Keown looks like he commands respect from all quarters too but he appears to be more into TV than backroom football matters.

I still root for Karen Brady at least when it comes to dealing with British clubs…

The club has becomes so isolated from the normality/reality of football, they sign letters to fans with AFC plc…

Are Dick n Fox working for AFC or AFC plc?

  58. tsgh says:

Emma- that is not what IG said in May though. He said that some analyst in Havard advise on how much the club spends…

  59. tsgh says:

    Absolute disappointment imo…

Sky Italia: Adem Ljajić to undergo medical with Roma this afternoon. Flamini has agreed terms with Arsenal.

  60. W.A.T.H says:

Ts, they have always signed letter with Arsenal Football Club PLC.. I have letters from the 70’s and it was on them then..! It’s always been on the letterheads…!

  61. emma says:

It’s just so unreal that Flamini will be back to the arsenal. A player who shafted us when we needed him. Thought he was a megastar, went to Milan and his career went downhill. Now arsenal are at the verge of signing him. So unreal

  62. ozgunner says:

Di Maria put in a sterling shift for the La Liga giants in their victory over Granada on Monday night and has insisted he is determined to stay and fight for his place with Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

‘I understand that the club is strengthening and they are precise in what they do,’ said the 25-year-old.

‘But I signed up to 2018 just a year ago and my desire is to stay in the Bernabeu.’

  63. tsgh says:

    IG’s Q&A:

We have always made the money we generate available to him to spend, it’s a very simple philosophy. That hasn’t been enough to compete with a club like Manchester United and Chelsea and Manchester City. Where Arsene has done an outstanding job is to stay in the mix of the top teams, not where we want to be, but in the mix, on a relatively limited budget. He is not scared to spend money but he has to believe he is getting a top class player. The parameters in which he has to operate is to spend what the club can afford and my job is to make that as big as possible and Arsene’s job is to think about which talent he wants to spend that
on in the best way possible.

Where we start is assessment of talent before we even think about the wages. Arsene assesses the talent. Once he makes that assessment we look at how to fit it in. We’re going to have to pay market rates and we’re going to have to evolve. I think the situation will evolve so that top players will earn more and players in the middle will stay about the same. So our structure will have to evolve.

My job is off the field, to represent the club and supporting the manager and his footballing conditions. Dick Law works with me and Arsene in negotiation of player deals, he has vast experience in that, he speaks 5 different languages and flies all around the world to negotiate deals. Arsene is in charge of the talent and myself and Dick Law give him support.

  64. W.A.T.H says:

Not that we’ll get either but if Lamela join the yids is he that good or does he just have lots of potential..?

  65. ozgunner says:

Speaking after the draw against United, Mourinho said: ‘He is very important for me and very important for Chelsea.

‘The stories that are coming out are nonsense stories. He goes nowhere.’

  66. ozgunner says:

Fenerbahce have been suspended from European competitions for the next two seasons after the Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected an appeal to overturn a UEFA ban, CAS has announced on its website.

  67. emma says:

ts – I think if the normal process was followed we could have gotten some deals done but would have spent above the odds to get it done. Wenger is supposed to present the players he want’s to IG just like in the days of David Dein and not be concerned about the cost. Otherwise players like thierry henry wouldn’t have being bought. IG with his sweet coated tongues should go to Kroenke and present his case why this player is needed and why such an amount of money should be spent to secure the service. It is quite clear that despite availability of funds Arsene doesn’t want to spend above the odds unless under special circumstance for top top top top players 😉

  68. tsgh says:

WATH, from what I know of Lamela he is like what VP was when he joined us. The same left foot etc. I always thought because of Boro we would be keen on him but…

I even heard the reason why Gerv’s deal was delayed was due to us asking for him too but AS Roma wanted more cash and no part exchange…

Di Maria I have always liked so maybe I will be biased on my views. I always thought and heard AW was more keen on Di Maria than Benzema; I said that in May when discussing Hig’s potential signing.

    I also believed AW was more keen on Adem than Jovetic from what I heard from the person will told me about both Cabaye and Mata before it became news on the net;

Personally I would prefer Pjanic but…

Dev or someone else may have other views on either players btw

  69. W.A.T.H says:

Ts, not your bad mate but it’s just something they have always had on the letterheads, am sure most people would never of even thought to look but it’s always been there and not something that’s just cropped up.

I did say not that we’ll get either Rico… Hold ya horses…!

  70. emma says:

With the array of midfield talents at Mou disposal he still went to OT and played a defensive/negative game. What a Plonker and he is after Atsu of Porto.

  71. W.A.T.H says:

Ts, I know we wanted Di Maria before he even joined Benfica and as per usual the problem was work permit…!.

Oh well Gareth Barry and Flamini it is then…!

  72. ozgunner says:

list is looking bit thin now of special special players – all but for the Milan reject of course – so does this mean Wenger has him as a special special player then? Considering how little he has featured for Milan wonder how he knows?

  73. tsgh says:

    There we have it…

Q: The underlying atmosphere of these questions tonight has been that the transfer deals and the performances haven’t been good enough, which is why the questions have been phrased as they have. Have we already missed a trick this summer by not getting deals done quickly and catching Mourinho, Pellegrini and Moyes with their pants down?

IG: No, I don’t think we’ve missed a trick. We need the agreements of clubs and players to do deals. We deal in a relatively small group of players at the top level of the game. We’re working very hard but in every case, I know the reasons why the deals for players we’re talking to haven’t happened yet.

  74. S2S says:

    Hello to every one,

Last night watched game till 3.00, so lil dizzy in the afternoon.

Who are we going to sign?

Flamini, A Yossi kind of player who can play between the lines. He was one of the best player at that.(I hope its Kaka, fingers crossed), Some unknown RB to all of us bar Tsgh, Cabaye and one more. We’ll be running like Usain Bolt for next 3 days or we’re in for real treat to see our U21s play for senior team this season.

No marquee signing though and if somehow we get Suarez the whole world would be scared to play us.

  75. rico says:

Barry and Flamini? That’s the midfield sorted then, who up front?

How about getting Adebayor to return, he’s world class or even offer Nik B a way back into the first team…

  76. Adam says:

Value for money where modern day players are concerned is completely subjective. In truth, there is none, just as there is no sense in the PL this year. It is one thing to say that, in your opinion, player X is worth only £10 million where the selling club want £20 million. But when you waste about £30 million on Arshavin and are still paying Bendtner and Christ knows who else tens of thousands a week because of your own poor decision making, it does tend to make those around question your judgement. Perhaps it is fundamental to the reason that you pull out of buying Mata a couple of years ago for a relatively small sum, only to go back and be looking at about twice the original fee a couple of seasons later. As I say, this is no sense to the fees being paid but if you don’t buy the ticket, you aren’t gonna win the raffle.
My feeling is that Wenger will do what he wants and nobody will influence him in this. This time though he must be prepared for a different reception from the fans who I don’t believe he gives a hoot for.

  77. potter says:

Mine was one of the empty ones. The people that usually car share could not go.So the £ 50 petrol money stayed in my pocket. A bottle of wine with the wife and the telly sufficed.

  78. rico says:

Just like going on about having little money yet signing average players and paying them £50k a week or more and then not being about to offload them Adam.

I wonder how much money we are paying in wages on players who are out on loan. Most of whom know, they will never get a chance in the first team..

  79. ozgunner says:

another good post Adam – you are on a roll mate only my opinion of course and be ready for the other managers have wasted more brigade like Ferguson for example. His trophy cabinet doesn’t seem to matter to some… bit like Arsene actually funnily enough. 😉

  80. emma says:

If Flamini signs, Cabaye deal is as ‘dead’ dead 🙁
I don’t see us getting a marquee striker bar miracle happens 🙁

  81. Adam says:

Cheers Oz. Hi Potter. You didn’t miss much mate. All us brainwashed stood, watched and witnessed a thoroughly tedious game.
Rico. That would be an interesting figure to know I agree.

  82. Adam says:

We had Mata virtually signed a couple of seasons ago only to pull at at literally, the last minute. He wasn’t worth the money apparently.

  83. ozgunner says:

we have been walked all over so many times, while our lot stand and watch or simply lie about it. Wouldn’t it be nice just once to walk into a club and say we’re signing him regardless. Just one signing, someone that we all instantly relate to as being real class instead of a gamble – just once please Arsene you plonker, just once earn your money for the real people that pay your salary. Show some balls man

  84. devilgunner says:

    Lamela or Di Maria.

Tbh I prefer Mata to both of them.

Or Wilshere on the left wing.

But if I had to choose for me it would be Di Maria.

Lamela often goes hiding. He is good do not get me wrong. But when the going gets tough, he will not put his neck out.

  85. rico says:

I think we all know he was Adam, well, possibly all barring one…

No Bale on Sunday, he’s not returning to the Totts according to SS’s..

  86. emma says:

We will end up not signing Ozil/Di maria 🙁
We’ve left it too late for any top top top top signing to happen except we are willing to pay over the odds

  87. Adam says:

Devil. I think we need both of them, especially after seeing our second choice central striker last night. Poor sod.

  88. rico says:

Or Ba as a really last resort Oz.. But Michu would probably fit in well with us…

    Rather Rooney though or Suarez…

  89. ozgunner says:

Jenkins told the South Wales Evening Post: “Nothing has changed there, I have not had one call or enquiry.

  90. rico says:

Does anyone actually believe we will make any signings before 11pm on Monday?

That has to be a joke Wath or as you say, he’s on some serious stuff. Maybe Adam or Lee gave him some….

  91. ozgunner says:

The managers of our supposed targets are reacting thick and fast, as it stands the only one that has admitted a move is possible is Newcastle. I do fear several more Gervinho style signings i must be honest.

  92. ozgunner says:

“They are not the names people know but soon they will be. We create world class players not buy them” I can feel it coming! Along with “i believe in my squad, our quality and spirit, we can beat anyone on our day, this season we will challenge” uummmmm

  93. devilgunner says:

Ozgunner at least Gerv could keep the ball.

And he used to fall so much over himself that he even conned the refs into giving us fouls. So at least he was worth something.

What I am scared of is more of the Park/santos signings. Not worth anything. Could not keep the fekking ball not even if their life depended on it.

  94. ozgunner says:

more rumours put to bed so it appears Cabaye is real?

“Yohan Cabaye? He is a great player and I know Laurent Blanc likes him a lot,” Al-Khelaifi is quoted by L’Equipe. “But we didn’t make any offer to Newcastle.”

  95. rico says:

Devil, I’d have bought Gerv a ball ages ago had I thought he’d keep it somewhere other than in England 😉

  96. allezkev says:

Has Wenger made his two big signings yet?

Haven’t a clue who they are, but Lee Dixon seemed certain that two big signings were in the pipeline…

What worries me is that Wenger also doesn’t have a clue who ‘they’ are…

  97. rico says:

Seems so oz, shame its not Fellaini though…

Hi Kev, I got the same impression from Lee Dixon until he said, well reportedly…

  98. rico says:

Is it wrong of me to think it would be really funny if Bale plays for Wales and does his ligaments or similar, enough for Real to pull out of the deal…

    They’d be broke…..

  99. ozgunner says:

we got the hump together Rico so we’re all good ha! I just have no faith left in any of them to be honest. The players seems to be tuned in right now but we all know they can loose the plot at any time and sometimes to be the best, you need that moment of magic, that player that can turn a game on his own. That player that inspires everyone and they cost real money. That player purchase that leads others to think, wow maybe their selling days are over. Right now we look like nothing but wind bags again after our end of season declarations. Would you be inspired to join this lot?

  100. devilgunner says:

The ideal scenario would be for us to get Mata, Cabaye, Ozil before it shuts down.

Then Bale will do his ankle and the greedy Manure badger will do his knee the week after when the internationals play. That will teach them a lesson or two.

We have had enough bad luck as it seems.

Hope we do not get more of it.

Its about time someone else’s turn now.

  101. Bob John says:

Not sure why people are suggesting Micah Richards would be a good buy apart from the fact he is a gooner. 5 years ago maybe before he turned himself into a body builder, lost all his agility and speed and became more injury prone than Diaby, Gibbs and Rosicky put together! The fact that dross like Walker and Johnson keep him out of the England squad says it all really. And I don’t think diver Di Maria could cope with the physical side of the English league which is probably why he joined Benfica instead of us a few years back.

  102. Lee says:

Let’s worry about our own burning issues, not others….we are so lightweight as a squad it’s a joke and Wenger is a allowed to get away with it!?!?

  103. ozgunner says:

Spurs bit the bullet and brought in the footballing man Balldini is it? He seems to have worked wonders for their appeal in the market with the exception of the Russian influenced William deal – I just don’t see we have that kind of people in our camp any more since Dein left.

  104. rico says:

🙂 Oz, yes I would to be honest, the base is there, top class players could well look at us and think ‘I could really fire’ at that club..

My wrists are truly slapped Lee, thank you… 😉

You know I won’t disagree there, it is a joke, in fact it’s neglect of the highest order..

Six days and he thinks all will end up ok, well all it takes is a few more ‘no’ from other clubs and we are deep in the mire. We already have a big toe in it….

As Kev said just now, does Wenger even know who he wants to sign??

  105. ozgunner says:

and another one bites the dust as Ozil wastes no time either…

“For me it is an honor to play here.
“I appreciate them interested in me but my decision is clear: stay here.
    “I have a contract until 2016 and I will continue “.

  106. rico says:

Bj, City won’t sell him anyway apparently but I’d love us to sign him, but didn’t know that about the body building…

  107. Lee says:

The window is 101 days old……and we’ve signed Sonfuckingogo?!?! Please do me a favour, what a fucking joke! Wikki this and twitter that we are supposed to be a big club…fucking act like one, no?

  108. rico says:

Oz, many players say those kind of things. We wouldn’t expect them to say they hate it where they are and can’t wait to leave, they say it to appease the fans I think….

Not all sulk like Cabaye is doing. Even Nasri towed the line and he couldn’t wait to increase his salary…

  109. emma says:

Ozil/Di maria confirm that they will stay with madrid. Just like what I was saying earlier that we won’t get any of them. Made a mistake allowing Gervinho to leave when we have no replacement in place.

  110. BrainwashedKev says:

Yeah Rico, Dixon had a slight smile on his face when spoke of the two big signings, whilst Wright had the look of a man who was thinking ‘Ok, i’ve heard all this bollocks before’…

Would Flamini & Cabaye constitute two big signings Adam?

59,000 in your pub Wath, mate, that must have been some pub….

    Hiya Lee/Coach…

    Gotta do a bit, lata….

  111. Lee says:

Maybe, dear old Arsene is worried that if he spends £70m and we win fuck all he’s up the creek……….

  112. Lee says:

Bit like people laughing that we’ve got a weaker squad this season compared to last season…spend the money you French fucker!

  113. emma says:

lee – I know he has to go but where is the replacement. I would rather have him than Sangogo playing yesterday

  114. rico says:

Keeping Gerv would have been all that has been wrong emma, it’s nothing other than settling for average. He was poor for us and had to go, but selling him should have meant replacing with someone better.

But, as always, AW hasn’t to date done that. If we get Di Maria, then yes, maybe he will slot in and perform well in the PL and be considered a much better player than the one we sold..

But we need to sign these players first, otherwise its same old same old penny pinching from the tight arse known as our manager…

  115. Lee says:

Ask our glorious leader….that’s why he gets paid the big bucks! Gervinho was never Arsenal quality, well certainly not since I’ve supported them, but we’ve all been indoctrinated into believing this lowered level of expectation! Sad but fucking 100% true…..

  116. BrainwashedKev says:

Wtf, haven’t Ozil & di Maria heard about the 100’s of players who are desperate to play for Arsenal…?!!!

    Well that’s what Arsene said…

  117. Lee says:

But his stats were better than Hazard’s (and not Micky)….well that shows you what is wrong with stats, Hazard I’d have in our team in a heartbeat, Gervinho I’d not let flip over priced burgers at the Emirates!

  118. Federico says:

I have to agree with those who are saying that our squad is weaker than last year.

I have to say that I find it hilarious that we have won 3 games against crap (Fenerbache) to sub-standard (Fulham) teams and suddenly everyone is praising Wenger. Wait until Totts turn up on Sunday. I hope that we have 11 fit players for it because it will be a big big test for this team.

If Wenger hasn’t opened up the chequebook by then and we go behind – it is going to be incredibly poisonous and fully deserved.

Thank God there weren’t any ‘One Arsene Wenger’ chants last night or I would have done my nut

  119. ozgunner says:

why do i feel there are a couple of players from obscure french leagues licking their lips at their new pay packets

  120. ozgunner says:

Wenger lives his life by those stats you are slamming Lee – everyone knows that, its what caused the first falling out with him and Bouldy. Having coached much of my life i agree, they tell half a story only.

  121. rico says:

We could have got Hazard, we should have got Hazard. Just like we could have got Mata, and should have got Mata….

Just one man’s stubbornness each time stops transfers like that happeneing…

  122. vernat1066 says:

I think that one of the issues we have with signing players is that we will not guarantee them playing time, you can say and I agree that they should be strong enough to back themselves to make the place theirs but it is a world cup year and the top players need to be playing regularly to get in the national teams.

Moving countries and leagues is a risk for them especially to the EPL which is more physical and less technical than the other major European leagues, so a sideways move to another team in the same league is seen as a better move.

All of which does not excuse our inactivity or lack of progress in deals also you have to factor in that clubs in this league with good players are much less likely to sell to other clubs in the league in comparison to abroad.

  123. Federico says:

For me – this window is the biggest sacking offense at Wenger’s time at Arsenal. I can’t believe what a balls up it has been. I know that people say that we shouldn’t change managers in the middle of the season, but I don’t know, I think that we should if Flamini comes in and that’s it.

I have wanted Wenger out for years now, but this window and his disdain to the obvious deficiencies of the squad makes my blood boil. £7.5 million a year to asset-strip the squad down to nothing. You’d think that he was gearing up for the big sell for Kroenke, but I highly doubt that.

  124. rico says:

Federico, not sure many are praising AW, the man either needs to get with football 2013 or pack his pack his bags and find new employment

  125. Lee says:

But Rico we’ll buy three wankers and not the finished article….here lies the problem?!?! Buy cheap buy twice….

  126. potter says:

we dont buy top players. we sell them. the top players know it and they discuss it at their international meet ups. We have to buy just below that level and form a team that people will want to join.

  127. rico says:

v10 – i’m not sure that would be the case though.. It certainly is stopping top players signing for other clubs who are already flush with players.

We have all the cups about to start and the fixtures will be coming thick and fast as we run up to Christmas – rotation is the key but right now we can’t rotate because we don’t have players to rotate with…

Also, injuries will happen, bookings will tot up and sendings off will also occur..

  128. Federico says:

Rico – I think that if you go through some forums, you’d see the Wenger apologists come out as soon as the final whistle went last night and crowed about what an achievement. It was as if we’d beaten Utd.

The thing was that the stadium was as empty as I have ever seen it. That is what it will look like all the time if Wenger brings in no-one and gets a new contract with the notable exception that the empty seats won’t have been paid for.

  129. rico says:

You know I am singing from the same hymn sheet as you Lee, all this signing average and hoping is bollox, it has to change but I fear it’s all too late now..

I just hope that there is no offer of a new contract on the table and this year SK sells to AU and SK naffs off. We get rid of any board members who don’t want to see the club progress and unless AW is ready to play ball, then let him go…

However, if things go horribly wrong on the pitch starting from Sunday, I can see things coming to a head much sooner…

  130. rico says:

    Baines..

I don’t look at many other forums to be honest Federico, only Lg really as Pedro/Geoff views mirror mine, or the other way around…

The empty seats speak volumes and I agree, it will get a lot worse all the time AW is allowed to carry on in the way he is allowed to which is why I hope Kroenke gets to the point that he’s had enough and sells to AU.

Should that happen, I think those seats would fill overnight because the protest is clearly against the owner and manager.

The players to be fair are giving their best, but already it’s clear they are tiring. As weeks/months go by, the injuries will grow because the squad is so frail…

I fear it’s going to get worse before it gets better….

Where as 5 players, two of them being top class could easily prevent that happening…

  131. Lee says:

How has it come to this though Rico? We’ve put up with so much crap surely there’s some light at the end of the tunnel? I really don’t get it….and it makes me really angry!! Still Umbongo is on his way……….fucking joke!

  132. Gunnerdna says:

What’s good HH, not ever player in the world is after money, some players also looks at the likelihood of winning trophies and that’s not the case at AFC over the last 8 yrs, according to stats. Why quit playing with Ronaldo to play with the postman?

  133. bradster says:

I actually think we won’t do too badly against the Totts. They’re not physical and their game type allows us space to play.

We just need to close the gap in the middle as we are good at defending the flanks now that the wingers work harder at tackling or tracking.

  134. rico says:

I guess it goes back to SK allowing AW far too much control Lee, as you and I know, it was the board who forced the £40 million bid for Suarez, had it been left to AW, I doubt he’d have ever bothered.

Having secured the CL, we should be back in with an offer that L’pool couldn’t refuse, show some intent…

If we sign an Umbongo, no matter how good his stats suggest he is, the Emirates will erupt at the next home game.

  135. bradster says:

I hope Wenger is still looking at one more bid for Suarez and telling Real to shove their Benzema offer. They want to charge Arsenal 40m for Benzema to fund Suarez?

  136. rico says:

I finally realised who the postman is Gdna…

Even if Ramsey, Jack and Podolski are missing bradster?

If Ramsey has done his groin, he shouldn’t even be risked, nor should Jack, he’s already frail according to AW..

Who steps in to fill that void?

We have Rosicky to come back but he can’t play every game….

Who else is ready to face the Totts?

Suggestion is Frimpong, well he hasn’t played a competitive match for ages and his temperament would be all wrong for a NLD imho

  137. ozgunner says:

i think you might be right Rico on Suarez, apparently Wenger even refused to call the player so what chance of that happening was there really? Liverpool showed us how to hold on to a player, their owner went public telling everyone Arsenal were dreaming, a day later Wenger was on Sky saying we were in there?? How did that make us look? Now even Newcastle are holding us to ransom it seems. I travel the forums as well, although only write on one and what i will say after years of trying to get this inevitable ending across, if there was an election now for the seat of Arsenal manager wenger doesn’t have the numbers to win it any more.

  138. rico says:

I don’t want Benzema either.. I’d actually rather Ba or Michu than him at least we know they can score goals in the PL..

Another is Benteke, big strong and other sides struggle against him.. Not a world class player, but I bet he will be in a few years…

  139. rico says:

    Great minds do bradster 😉

    Fellaini
    Suarez
TA (can’t be bothered to check how to spell Tony’s surname)

Three squad players and we’d be up there challenging…

  140. vernat1066 says:

Could be worse though, Could have Signed Carroll, Henderson and Downing for £75 million and then made £30 + loss on selling them.

  141. ozgunner says:

If i was Suarez, I know what my response would now be, he was left hanging out to dry surely? Wenger used the ‘honour’ excuse very cleverly IMO

  142. bradster says:

Only loss for me would be Ramsey on his current run of form. We can handle having Gibbs on the wing in my opinion Rico.

  143. rico says:

I don’t think he would get re-elected either, not right now oz, there are more who can see his current failings than those who think the sun shines regardless..

Don’t get me wrong, I hold SK very much accountable too..

Which manager was it who left his club because the owner wouldn’t give him money? I forget now but if AW really loved Arsenal as he makes out he does, then why doesn’t he come out and tell the world that regardless of what the accounts say each year, he is not given much money to actually spend on players?

IG – CEO has made it clear that there is a lot of money to spend, Wenger confirmed those comments to be true.

So why is he not spending any of it?

  144. Woody says:

    Afternoon All!

I’m finding the signings…er,lack of…all too much to cope with now. I’m sure something will happen it’s just a question of who and I’m growing increasingly worried that I will be upset!

I like your list Rico, but if either of the top two come I will stand on my seat at Emirates and make cockerel noises (and actions) towards the away end this coming weekend.

I simply don’t believe it will happen. We hear Wenger go on about the right quality etc etc and while that’s 100% spot on, I can’t help but think that’s code for ‘A player know one really knows, but that I think has the right quality’

  145. vernat1066 says:

I also think that this squad whilst it has less quantity than last years has better quality a lot of players who did not want to be at the club are gone and those that are left are at least committed. We still need at least three players to come in and for some of the youngsters like Frimpong, Akpom, Esfield Bellerin, Gnabry etc .. to step up and provide between 5 to 10 quality games which would help the squad and the club enormously, and give the fans a lift as well i think to see some results from the reserves come on.

If the are capable of this I am not sure at a lesser club they might have time to grow but at Arsenal the standards required are high and time is short but against teams in the bottom half of the table they should be given a shot to see if they can cope with the step up along side the senior players.

  146. rico says:

v10 – other clubs downfalls should not be used to defend our own. I said that yesterday We as a club are better than that.

Just like we shouldn’t think playing without a big guy in midfield is acceptable because Chelsea or Man utd don’t play with one. Without sounding rude, who gives a toot?

We should be compiling a squad big enough, deep enough and good enough to beat the way they play, not to emulate the way they play…

  147. ozgunner says:

he covered himself further to Woody by adding, “sometimes quality costs a lot but not always” uummm

  148. rico says:

🙂 Lee, E45 is all too late for some…

That’s ok Brad but what happens if either or both get injured? Monreal is only just back from injury and poor Gibbs breaks down more often than a Fiat 😉

  149. rico says:

Hi Woody, I will have the volume right up high too if they do 😉

Sadly though, I think we are more likely to see a few Umbongo’s than Suarez, Fellaini or similar…

  150. Woody says:

    Yes OZ, I hear ya.

But surely he understands the need for the fans this year?

After all, the fans attitude at the stadium makes a huge difference and having everyone behind the team is vital.

We’ve played games where the atmosphere has been amazing and positive and we’ve had great results, but on the flip side you pretty much knew at half time (1-1) that we would not come back to beat Villa, because the attitude of the crowd was poor.

Had we had decent signings before that game it would have been more positive and we would have stood a better chance of winning the game.

    I am convinced of that.

  151. bradster says:

I’m not talking long term Rico, I agree with everyone that we need to sign a number of players.
I’m talking about Sunday that we won’t be that bad that we’ll get thumped and I personally think the Totts play a style that suits our game. Maybe Walcott will come to life like he normally does in this fixture.
Plus the new signings most likely won’t start nor gel with the team by Sunday.

  152. rico says:

Oops, sorry Bradster, I should have realised….

I can’t see us being able to do anything else for Sunday tbh, it will all be about whoever is fit and where they will fit in…

Just hope the ref is strong, they have a couple of Tom Daleys in their squad….

  153. vernat1066 says:

Lee I know it is not our concern but

    A) It makes me laugh as my brother and best friend are Liverpool fans and have been giving me stick over transfers.

    B) Shows that just spending money on players does not mean success.

And C there is not a lot we can do until the window is open but hope that we get what we need from the club, anger and frustration are understandable given the incompetence we have shown so far but i have much more serious real world situation to deal with right now that make me angry and frustrated so I am going to choose to laugh at what is happening until the window is over and see where we are.

  154. rico says:

V10, are you going to The Ems on Sunday?

It will be packed, most of those fans can’t see the funny side of what is going on with our club. It’s not a one off, it’s been happening for a while now…

The only ones laughing are the fans of other clubs as we sit rock bottom of the ‘players signed’ list, having not spend one single penny…

Real life issues and the world of football are far apart and imho should never be compared, but in a footballing world, what is being allowed to happen at Arsenal is simply wrong…

  155. Joaquim Moreira says:

well, we reached one of our targets of the season yesterday with a strong line up forwards at the end: Ryo, Sissoko and Gibbs
Why we need Suarez,Higauain,Benzema,Di Maria, Rooney even RVP or others?
And the news are all agree and with us: Di Maria doesn’t want to leave RM and Galastasay is the only one with a deal; Lamela close Totts; Rooney stays in Madrid, Cabaye maybe 20% of chanches for sign for us; Ozil, Benzema, Mata don’t be sold; Atsu joins Chelsea;Bale, finally goes to Madrid, Ericson maybe go to the totts, etc
We have, al least, one more injury, but it’s the normal situation with us.
So I expect good news to the weekend and of course, a clear victory against the totts.
    Wrong politic?

  156. Lee says:

Again, I don’t give a flying fuck about what other fans think about our woeful transfer dealings. All I care is that we do the right thing and if Wenger doesn’t want to be the man to do it, replace him!

  157. W.A.T.H says:

Thing is Brad we all know Scott is always wrong so he can be as positive as he wants we just let him carry on… least he cheers the place up a little….! Now you get back to the negotiating of those players and less chat please…!

  158. bradster says:

Toby Alderwereld should be bought. Overmars said he’ll sell to us for 6.7m. Surely that kind of versatile defender is what we need and at a decent price.

  159. W.A.T.H says:

Brad, get teh deal done matey contact Overmars… You’ll get it done quicker than anyone at Arsenal will

  160. bradster says:

Haha Wath, my name is not Dick even though I act like it sometimes.
I can only hope Wenger reads my comments on this site 😉

  161. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning all.
Just back from The Commitments show live.
Andrew Strong has still got it after 20 odd years.
    What a show.
Almost as good as the performance Aaron put on
    App. 18 hours ago 🙂

  162. rico says:

I don’t want us to sign him either Lee. In fact, I’d rather we didn’t do business with Real Madrid at all…

Moses could be up for sale…. Just saying…

C2, I think you know that answer, but I’d rather him than Benzema…

Here’s Scott to start the Ramsey ‘love in’ 😉

  163. rico says:

Our transfer saga is like pulling teeth. Talking of which, I’m off to the dentist and to do a bit of shopping at Aldi. If I see Wenger, I’ll nick the cheque book……

  164. bradster says:

I still think we could even be in for Rooney with Chelsea buy Eto’o and discussions with Moyes goes badly.

  165. W.A.T.H says:

I reckon you may have a point there Brad… then again maybe not…! All a complete mystery at the moment.

AK the pub is HUGE mate… very deceiving from the outside… Apparently there were 59,000 in there last night so the landlord said… I reckoned about 40 of us…!

  166. Adam says:

It will certainly be interesting Frederico. For Arsene in particular. As I know from my work, a deadline brings its own pressure.
Fan power hasn’t been seen at Arsenal since the days of Billy Wright I believe though I will have to check with Brainwashed Kev.

  167. BrainwashedKev says:

Sounds like the Bank of Friendship to me Wath.

    Get 40 in there and it’s a full-house…

    Estamos Condenados

  168. devilgunner says:

In 1983 when Terry Neill was in charge the fans were up in arms around October I think. The team was going nowhere and if I remember correctly the fans were chanting for Neill to be sacked.

    Then Don Howe took over.

    Good Afternoon everyone.

Temperature is going up and its not football related for me.

Me and the little prince are bordering on volcanic spouted lava.

  169. Joaquim moreira says:

    First pot: Bayern,Barcelona,RM, MU,chelsea,Benfica.Porto,Arsenal
m.city is in the third pot.
Rumours: Todor Nedelev (winger/midfield) from Botev Plovdiv will be our nº 29

  170. BrainwashedKev says:

I was there Adam, shouting Jack Crayston, out out out….

Me and all my mates from the Black Hand Society….

Those were the good old days….

Me and Stevie Palmer putting dubbing on our boots over at the Cattle Sheds before we went out and kicked the shit out of each other.

    That’s when men were men.
And woman were glad of it… 😉

  171. BrainwashedKev says:

Adam, I keep getting this strange idea that i’m being watched….

Could the media be spying on me???

  172. devilgunner says:

JM……even Juventus are in the third pot.

And I hope we do not get them.

Otherwise we will be steamrollered home and away.

  173. rico says:

    Evening all..

Ch, on paper maybe, but how do we know he’d cut it in the PL?

    Personal views I guess….

  174. devilgunner says:

    Evening Rico.

I am watching Zenit play atm.

I will be very surprised to see Di Maria, Ozil,. Benzema come in.

But I would not be surprised to see Mata, Torres, Cabaye, Nedelev, Barry and/or Flamini in.

    Mata I would sincerely like.

  175. rico says:

    Evening Devil.

I was all against signing Barry but a friend of mine made me see the light 😉

Suppose he’d fill a gap for a season until a new manager comes in 😉

  176. devilgunner says:

Barry and Flamini are both past it. But both are EPL experienced. And can fill in the blanks since they are two more bodies. The problem is that TR07 is also over 30.

Danny has put Zenit 1-0 up with a wonderful finish.

  177. Federico says:

I would be very accepting of Super Quality Park on the bench now rather than see a very raw Sanogo. What happened to him anyway?

  178. rico says:

That’s my view too, well, Flamini might still have a few years in him but hopefully, not with us…

However, we just know it’s going to happen…

  179. devilgunner says:

Flamini might make some sense if he was to be used as cover for RB/LB.

Imo AW should leave Gibbs as a left winger with Monreal at LB vs the spuddies (unless its Wilshere on the left wing.

    Next game I would go…..

    Chezzer
    Sagna, Kozzer,Per, Gibbs
    Wilshere, Aaron
    Theo, Rosicky, Cazorla
    Giroud.

    If all were fit.

But if either Aaron or Jack fails to make it then I would put Gibbs on the LW and Monreal as LB.

  180. rico says:

He used to be a good international player Federico. Joined us and never to be seen again, poor chap…

Seriously, I haven’t a clue what is happening with him, he’s still listed as a squad player…

  181. devilgunner says:

Federico…….you must have reached desperate levels to prefer Park to Sanogo.

You asked the perfect question mate……….where is he now?

you are right…………..he is fekking invisible as he always was whenever he sat on the bench. 😆

  182. Federico says:

After watching Sanogo last night, I wondered why he was in front of Afobe and then I realized that I forgot about Super-Quality. I then started pining also wondering why Chamakh isn’t there any more….

  183. Joaquim moreira says:

yes,I know Juve is in 3td pot. We can’t fixture againt M.City so in the 3thr pot we only can play against 7 (i hope will be not Juve or a German team).
    Dany scored twice
    I don’t want Barry

  184. tsgh says:

    Arsenal still in LIMBO

  186. stevepalmer1 says:

    Evening all, Good report Rico.
Dirty play, i don’t think it was that bad, Wilshere will always be fouled thats the position and the way he plays. Never saw Theo fouled his still running away. I thought for a second or two that i saw Theo make a challenge, but i was mistaken. People moan about the dive, but anyone that has watched Arsenal games is well aware of Szezesneys mad rushes of blood He makes me cringe. We keep winning and pundits keep saying we are short. Do they think we dont know. From the moment the prograam started on TV last night Dixon and Wrighty couldnt wait to start, those guys have a problem with Wenger and Arsenal is it because we haven’t asked them for their valable advice. Dickheads are the words i’de use. Ever since those 2 left they have knocked everything Arsenal and they call themselves Supporters. The 2 games we played to get through, ok they wasn’t that good but we still had to play them and win the games. Many say we have a shit team or squad but everybody sings their praises after the game. Empty seats maybe they were but had the season ticket holders who never turned up and are stopping other supporters from season tickets, I guess those supporters will come back eventually if not give your ticket up. Knocking a team when their winning makes me laugh. the players cant do right for doing wrong. Strange supporters.

  187. asiangooner says:

Good game yesterday, lovely post today rico……. but still the same on transfer front. When will we actually sign someone that is if we ever sign someone 🙂

Its the same fucking story every year. IG says AW has funds available, AW says there are no top top top quality players available and we fan keep on waiting throughout the TW mentioning different players who can actually add value and should be bought but in the end AW, IG and SK laughs at us…….

Its actually kind of getting really boring now, dont you guys think?

Ohhh by the way, good evening everyone 😉

  188. asiangooner says:

    BREAKING NEWS

Tottenham agree a deal to sign forward Erik Lamela from Roma, the Italian club claim.

This was on BBC website 🙁

The bas***ds just keep signing players

  189. rico says:

Thanks Sp, I don’t think the fans are angry with the players, just the owner and manager for not making a the signings so desperately needed.

Thanks Asian, good result indeed and a bit more money to bank….

  190. stevepalmer1 says:

Ok thanks Asia, hope your well mate. Don’t worry mate their lining up to sign I reckon about 5. But our boys are still doing Well. 🙂

  191. asiangooner says:

Oh thats one thing they are good at rico…. banking the money. Its the signing players and spending money where they are pathetic….

Hey, by the way, where is spurs getting all this money from. RM wont be paying them all the cash upfront!!! plus i think they have spent more than what they have got for bale!! its a shame really

they do have a strong team now on paper……… but strangely they have won both their games by scoring 1 goal each and that too on penalties!!!

  192. ktr7 says:

Good read…am already preparing myself for ‘diaby is like a new signing’ quote 🙁 its all quiet out there.

  193. rico says:

Oh I know Asian, we are very good at that…

Who gives a toss about that lot, just hope AW springs a few nice surprises on us… 🙄

  194. asiangooner says:

Our boys are really doing well SP1 especially Ramsey, JW played well yesterday as well, OG although didn’t score but his movement off the ball was really nice he creates so much space for other players in the team and i am so glad for them….. and i do hope you are right when you say they are lining up 5 🙂

emma i anxiously wait to see a message from you here saying

    suarez -> arsenal

    or

    di maria -> arsenal

    or

    mata -> arsenal

I was very hopeful that suarez stories will surface again and we will wrap him up in a day or two 🙁

  195. asiangooner says:

hahahaha kt re diaby, its the same fucking thing every year…. if we cant persuade them to buy i think we should atleast write some new excuses for them to give to fans…….

  196. asiangooner says:

    cheers emma……

true kt, its very quite and the players we have been linked with lately dont want to move….

  197. Micko says:

What’s with all the doomers on here today, still plenty of time to sign Todor Nedelev and turn the transfer window on it’s head.

Don’t think Lee Dixon has any axe to grind with the club, quite the opposite in fact, speaks a lot of sense imo.

  198. rico says:

    Woody, I wouldn’t mind at all…

Hi Micko – I thought both he and Wrighty talked a lot of sense…

Quite refreshing to listen to them I thought, shame Chiles (spelling) was on there with them though…

  199. stevepalmer1 says:

Pundits and presenters are asked to comentate and talk about the match and players, not to black someones name. The players on the pitch are what they should be talking about not what the managers should be doing, as far as i know none of that lot last night has any managerial experience at all. what do they know about the price of fish.

  200. Micko says:

Count your blessings rico, we have to put up with Ronnie Whelan, tsgh’s favourite adopted Irishman.

Think you’ll be having a lay in Tuesday, it’s gonna be a late one Monday night, where did it all go wrong !

Celtic on the box here, Anthony Stokes up front for them, mountain to climb.

  201. rico says:

    I won’t be staying up Micko….

He’s doing alright up there isn’t he. Can’t see them turning it around tonight though …

  202. potter says:

They are allowed an opinion just as you are Steve , if it doesn’t agree with yours that’s life.I try to read through the lines and see what is behind the comment. What i saw was two ex players that want the team to have success and putting forward their ideas on how to achieve it.

  203. Micko says:

Oh I dunno rico, it’s all one way traffic, could go into extra time.
Stokes has probably found his level.
Steve, I think you’ll find it’s Arsene who’s struggling with the price of anything, he’d rather cross his legs than spend a penny.

  204. rico says:

Sp, what did they actually say that was slating the players? I didn’t hear anything. Both LD and IW were only suggesting the squad is not strong enough…

We all think that don’t we?

  205. asiangooner says:

    alright guys…. good night.

lets all hope tomorrow is a good positive day on the signing front 🙂

  206. stevepalmer1 says:

Didnt say anything bad about the players Rico I got the impression they were slagging off Arsenal. But of course thats the way i took it.

  207. asiangooner says:

nice one kt but rico was right thats for jan window

one last thing. I think both LD and IW were amazing yesterday…. they were suggesting what they believed the team need. Anyway, we all have our opinions

Now I am off….. later guys

  208. rico says:

I just think they are as miffed and frustrated as many fans are Sp, we have money but AW isn’t spending it. Now it’s so late in the TW, quality players will be hard to sign..

We’ll end up with the dregs yet again I suspect…

  209. devilgunner says:

    Good Evening my friends.

Nothing serious. Just a slight fever both of us. But we have to be careful with this heat.

Have we signed the postman or the gardener yet???

  210. stevepalmer1 says:

Your be telling me we won’t be in the top half of the table at the end of the season, sorry thats Dixon Wright and Adams they said that for the last 5 years. They must be closet spuds as they always say they will finish above us, Mugs.

  211. c2hills says:

    Evening all.

Rico, Benzema is a very tenacious footballer. Don’t think he is coming our way though.

  212. rico says:

That’s not what anyone really wants to hear emma, but……

Maybe Ch, but the PL is very different to what he’s used to. Unless we sign him, no need to worry though 😉

  213. W.A.T.H says:

If Arsenal announce Flamini without other players coming in then there really is very little to be happy about..!

As we buy 2 freebies the yids spend close to 100million… Now thats showing intent…!

  214. rico says:

Wow Sp, that is harsh on three ex top players of our club who love the club. They want the best for Arsenal, do you honestly believe that’s what they want to happen?

They see things as they appear right now and as much as I hate to admit it, we are not as strong as many sides around us and if we don’t sign players, goodness knows where we will finish this season…

It certainly won’t be in the top 4…

  215. devilgunner says:

Just a question WATH. How much have we spent these last 5 years?

And Another question………How much did the spuddies spend in the last five years?

Oh I forgot…..where did the spuddies finish these last five years?

    Just asking you know.

Not implying anything. But AVB is a shrewd coach and a European winner.

  216. emma says:

I thought we have succeeded in getting rid of the dross in the squad never knew we are getting more dross. Is flamini better than what we currently have in the squad? No. Is he a top top top top special player? No

  217. W.A.T.H says:

Dev, I like AVB, should not really admit to that seeing as he manages that shower of shit but he inherited a load of shit and seems to be turning things around, a good young manager with good ideas, thankfully their ex managers wasted the funds they spent, this fella seems to be getting it right, can we rely on them fucking it up year after year as we sit by and do sweet FA…? they are showing intent and ambition while we are showing what it’s like to wishing we were still acting like a big club…! What we are doing in the market at the moment or not doing more like is embarrassing !!

  218. Micko says:

The think is wath, Flamini…..Flamini….. to the tune of the Sweeney was one of the best songs ever especially away, I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place on this one.

    Celtic 2’s each.

  219. devilgunner says:

For all the good AW has done to AFC, what you have just said about AVB points to the reason why we need to change manager. Yes it will be difficult. but we need new ideas, direction and new players/staff.

Its like being afraid to split with your partner. you are stuck in a rut but is afraid to loose her saying that she is the most beautiful when if you look carefully someone else will be more beautiful and more exciting.

  220. W.A.T.H says:

Micko that singing lark ain’t gonna win us matches mate 😀
He must be loving all those signing on fees

  221. devilgunner says:

Milan 3-0 up. That means that AFC should do all they can to get a couple of their players…..like Maher and Bruma

  222. GunnerDNA says:

Good evening HH, no matter who AW sign now he should be fired, he doesn’t have the ambition to manage a club like AFC any more. After 100+ days the club can’t add a single player, i hope this is his last season. AW outttttt..

  223. rico says:

I’ve had enough for today, catch you folks tomorrow for more of the same I suspect – no signings….

    Night all…..

  224. stevepalmer1 says:

Loads of time. All i hear about our club is negative for the last 8 years, squads not good enough not big enough , players are average manager is clueless. Top four every one of those years CC final CL final i dont think that is bad with a brand new stadium, and profit every year. Give the man until the second, he said he’ll buy and he will.

  225. devilgunner says:

Carlos Vela has scored in the CL against Lyon.

I can bet you he chipped the keeper even though I did not see the goal.

What I find irritating is that the transfer window has been open for 59 days and nothing has been done. Dont tell me that AW knew all the time that he wanted Mata, Cabaye etc and was waiting for the closure of the TW. Because at the end of the day………I doubt that even he knew who he wanted to sign.

  226. Micko says:

I’m with you devil, a little dink over the goalie.

Emma, you need to hold it together, you’ve been so positive all summer.

    Laters guys.

  227. GunnerDNA says:

we didn’t have money to buy players couple years ago, now we have money can’t find the super dualideee players to buy with the mental strength. lol

  228. kel says:

woody @2.38..LOL. after a long tough day at work, im just catching up with the comments, and that made me laugh mate… 😀 LOL

  229. devilgunner says:

    Good morning Lee.

I have already read that this morning and I was chuckling all the time. Good one.

So, who are we going to sign today???

Been told that its Rico for keeper, WATH and Kev for CB, Adam for DM while Ginginho will play on the wings.

The coup de grace will be Scott as CF. 😉

And since they are all on a freebie AW will like that.

  230. bradster says:

    Morning all,

Anything new in the world of Arsenal?
I’m a little nervous about our draw today, there are some really strong teams in the other pools. I’d hate to get PSG, Juve, Dortmund, Napoli or Atletico.

  231. Lee says:

Morning coach, I really am losing patience with the lack of signings. All that crap that Ivan spouted to sell season tickets really isn’t coming to fruition is it? Or do you think Arsene is going to pull something out of the bag? Is he dragging his heels because he feels he’ll more value for money closer to the window closing?
We really should be acting like a big club showing some ambition of winning something…….

  232. devilgunner says:

I am being killed softly mate. The heat is killing me, my temperature is still up (virus) and AW and the club are also contributing. Yes I know that there is still the small matter of 5 days remaining but with each minute the clock is ticking the further away our chances to sign anybody of substance (remember the word) diminish.

Substance mate. And by substance I do not include Flamini or Barry for that matter.

Substance means…….Mata, Torres, Cabaye, Di Maria, Guilavogui, Richards, Williams, Michu, Benzema.

    That level might be enough.

    Or Shrek for that matter.

But the mirage resemblance is growing stronger. Or should I say growing thinner?

    I am confused really.

  233. devilgunner says:

AW and the club should get in bodies yes. At the moment it is all that is needed.

    Why not Guilavogui?

    Why not Cabaye?

    Why not Mata?

    Why not Williams or Richards?

Forward thinking implies having two players for every position not a player for two positions.

We are drawn vs WBA for the Carling Cup. We used to use it to breed youngsters in it. Now there aren’t many youngsters left.

So we have to put our first team squad in. Hold on. That is threadbare as well.

Hmmm. Maybe AW is going to give the supporters a chance to see who can make it at AFC without costing a transfer fee?

Crappola. Even the Ems supporters are dwindling.

From the INVINCIBLES to the INVISIBLES.

  234. rico says:

Morning Lee, Devil, Bradster and all…

West Brom away in the CO Cup..

5 days left, what a mess this club is in!

  235. rico says:

Off to my fitness this morning so will catch up some time later although have a bit of a busy day..

Maybe my absence will bring good news 🙂

New post will be up around 9.30

Later all, have a good day

  236. devilgunner says:

That is because he is going to give us supporters a chance Brad. 😆

I am equally amazed this year regarding the fact that no youngsters (except Sanogo) have been signed. Usually its young ones ad nauseam. But even that now has diminished into a trickle.

Either he is clearing the decks for some super signings or else the raft of youngsters playing in the under 21 and under 19 is so bloody good that it may be inconceivable to sign anyone.

Or else AW has lost his touch.

  237. devilgunner says:

Mathieu Flamini has become an Arsenal player for the second time after signing a two-year contract, Goal can reveal.

The Frenchman put pen to paper on the deal after reaching an agreement with the club following a final round of talks on Wednesday.

Goal understands Flamini will be paid £50,000-a-week and that the contract includes an option for a third year.

Arsenal will announce the deal after receiving the final clearance from the Premier League.

Flamini will be the second signing of the summer for Arsene Wenger — both free transfers — and the fourth old boy the manager has re-signed in recent years, following Sol Campbell, Jens Lehmann and Thierry Henry.

Arsenal anticipate the deal will herald an intensive recruitment drive in the last five days of the window.

Wenger’s top target is Angel Di Maria and he has not given up hope of signing Wayne Rooney, Yohan Cabaye or a new goalkeeper.

Flamini was released by AC Milan at the end of last season and he has been training with the Gunners for the last three weeks while working on his fitness and looking for a new club.

Wenger decided to make the 29-year-old an offer after being impressed by his condition and attitude.

The France international, who quit Arsenal for Italy in 2008, will strengthen the central midfield and also offers the versatility of being able to fill in at full-back.

Flamini becomes the second Frenchman to join Arsenal this summer on a free transfer following Yaya Sanago, who signed after being released by Auxerre.

    HOOOORRRRRAYYYYYYYYY

WE ARE GOING TO WIN THE FUCKING LEAGUE AT LAST.

  238. bradster says:

Yay, I can fill the RB position Devil. He better sign me up this year, next year I ca move onto Vets if I want to. 😉

  239. bradster says:

I don’t mind the Flamini signing if it’s to make up the numbers with experience. Perhaps similar to what Benayoun did the other season.

  240. bradster says:

How about hijacking Totts enquiry for Hernandez. There’s a good fox in the box finisher that won’t cost too much. Saw Man U want 15m.

  241. devilgunner says:

I prefer Torres to Hernandez. I feel that Hernandez would suffer the same fate as Vela if he were to join us.
