Theo and Ox staying.

All the rumours at the end of last season were that the club would listen to offers for both Theo and Ox, fans are pretty divided on both it seems as neither have hit the heights or really lived up to expectations have they.

At what point does a player become a “potentially” great player to being called not made the level we expected. When does a club cut it’s loses and say ok lets maybe look at someone better for that position. Theo has been at Arsenal for 10 years, yep 10 years has he really done enough to warrant the hype and the new contracts? the same could be said for Ox, he flatters to deceive but has he also become a let down and has he improved since we bought him.

The for’s and against’s are I am sure many and varied, some will say if we sold either or both what if they go on to be great elsewhere…. well lets be honest if we replaced them with a great player who did the business for us do we care what either did at another club, is it a reason to keep a player based on what if they are successful elsewhere..?

I think both players are walking a tightrope, if we received decent offers for both I would let both move on but that’s based on us replacing them not putting the cash in the bank.

Arsene is very loyal to his players and sometimes that’s a great thing and other times it’s not, faith is one thing blind faith a hindrance, we saw that with Diaby, a great player was in there but his injuries were just to much, Theo comes into that category as well and for me Ox just seems to be more concerned with social media. He has the potential and all the attributes to be a great player but is the hunger and the desire there or is he happy with going through the motions.

It’s back to the argument that the English players are all to comfy and happy to just be mediocre…. where is the drive and the passion to want to be the best you can possibly be….. Theo and Ox are not the only two I think that are at the last chance saloon but they are probably the most talked about.

Seems today Lacazette has been replaced in the media by Draxler being the next purchase and back again with the “release clause” we’ve heard and seen it all before but again still early days in regards to transfers but I’ve always said i think we should try do our business early it benefits all concerned.

That would not be a bad summer tbh Wath, though we need a CD desperetly but as you said when hell freezes over……

  4. Le Coq Monster says:

    Thanks Wath.

I`d keep Ox, he will come good imo.

Swap Theo for Draxler, I love Draxler, it`s probably his Bond villain sounding name……………………….”Wenger: You dont expect me to talk do you Draxler ?”……………….Draxler: No Mr Wenger, I expect you to spend ze fcuking money !”

  5. Danish Gooner. says:

Wenger have had 10 average to awful years of feo and he still plays him,it really is beyond belief.

  6. potter says:

Gordon Nutt , there’s a name from the past. Saw him play in the 5-4 defeat to United before the Munich tragedy.

  7. Wath says:

My Dad was at that game Potter… said the Duncan Edwards goal from the half way line was one of the best he’d ever seen and that was against Kelsey as well..!

  8. Le Coq Monster says:

The doomy rumours are that we will be without Ramsey, Ozil, Alexis, Koz and Giroud for the Bindipper opener because of the Copa and effing Euro`s…..Brilliant !……just the start we need, a loss on the opener again !…………aint I the bringer of good news !. hahaha…………………..If I didnt laugh I`d…………………… 😥

We now need at least 5 players to be bought just to cover the first game …………………..and the 2nd ?……3rd ?……4th ? hahahahahahahahahahahaha………………………that`s an insane laugh with a touch of nervous twitch !

LCM, on Ox he’s been there 4 seasons and in my opinion done sweet FA…. 100 league games and how many lge goals..? 5…? flatters to deceive wants to be a clown yet plays like one when actually fit…. as I said in the post he has so much potential to be a top player but seems to lack the attitude and hunger.

  10. Wath says:

Take no notice of the doom rumours LCM, we’ll have plenty players ready to play… Plus the 4/5 new signings lol 🙂

    Afternoon all,
Potter ,Wath With my elder brother I was on the North Bank for what we thought was one of the best games of football we saw at Highbury.
I remember Edwards Charlton and Taylor all scoring screamers that the Cat had no chance of saving.
I think the crowd that day was well over 60,000 and every single one stayed to applaud the players off. It was a really wonderful game of football.

  12. Wath says:

Rick, my Dad said the Duncan Edwards shot was hit that hard Kelsey was still diving and the ball had already hit the net and bounced out….! He also said everyone applauded what they knew had been a great game and also how good the mancs were…!

  13. Rick says:

Wath all 22 players left the pitch with their arms around each other

I have always thought that Duncan Edwards had one of the most powerful shots in both feet that I have seen and he was still a boy.

  14. Wath says:

My Dad has always said Edwards was still only a boy but a man mountain and the sky would of been the limit…! He said that shot that day was like a tracer bullet and at the time Kelsey was probably one of the top 3 keepers in world football and he never sniffed it..!

  15. Wath says:

To see how the mancs have fallen to now be managed by the turd that is moreenyo…! says it all.

  16. potter says:

Duncan Edwards would have gone on to be one of football’s greats , that was a great match after going behind 3 -1 i think and then getting back only to lose at the death it was a day when you walked home knowing that you had seen something special.I am going to trawl through google now to try and refresh my memory. I was only 10 at the time.

  17. Wath says:

It must of been special Potter, it’s a game my Dad often refers to as just being there was special to witness such a game and to see such great players.

  18. Le Coq Monster says:

Sorry to be the party pooper lads, but I cant see myself calling a game special if we lost !…..I get pissed off when we draw let alone lose !……………….never been to a game where we have lost and felt happy, just dont get it !
I could rack my brains out and try and think of special games, I mean I do like a win coming from behind like the Hull cup final, but off the top of my head being at Shite Hart Lane when we won 5-0 in 1978 takes some beating and I would have loved to have been at Anfiel in`89 !……..ohh and the 4-0 win over Villa in the cup final because it was a complete display of beautiful football and that it fell on my birthday …..what a present, best birthday ever !…………..although it could have easily been the worst had we lost !. hahaha

  19. Le Coq Monster says:

Funny enough, two of the worst results which sent me into a rage of diving onto the sofa and punching the cushions and kicking out like a 5 year old spoilt brat and shouting expletives were draws !……………………….4-4 at home to the Spuds, two of their goals coming in 89 & 90 mins and the 4-4 draw at Newcastle after being 4 nil up at half time !……………………………..on both occassions I was forcibly removed from DFS !.

  20. Wath says:

LCM, i hear what you saying mate think back then things were a little different and opponents were not such dicks, so way more respect shown when a decent team turned up and were better than us simple as that

    Good day all!

Most of us forgot that Wenger will need to sell to free up vacancies in the 25-man squad before he can buy players.

Brit Pack is still valuable under present 8 homegrown players rule.

    1 – Gibbs (homegrown)
    2 – Jenkinson (homegrown)
    3 – Bellerin (homegrown)
    4 – Ramsey (homegrown)
    5 – WIlshere (homegrown)
    6 – OX (homegrown)
    7 – Walcott (homegrown)
    8 – Welbeck (homegrown)
    9 – Coquelin (homegrown)

    10- Cech
11- Ospina or Szczesny or Martinez or Macey
    12- Mertesacker
    13- Koscielny
    14- Gabriel
    15- Monreal
    16- Cazorla
    17- Elneny
    18- Xhaka
    19- Joel Campbell
    20- Ozil
    21- Alexis
    22- Giroud
23- Reine-Adelaide (not qualify as homegrown)
24- Debuchy – will be sold to free spot?
    25- new CF or CB?

Then where will we have a spot for Gnabry or Wellington or AKpom?

Iwobi and Chambers are Under-21 and clubs can field unlimited Under-21 players (and not counted in 25-man squad) to encourage youth development.

That is, I see only 1 or 2 spots available for a new CF and CB with Arsene Wenger promoting youths.

  22. Rick says:

Merlin Your theme is right but you have things a little wrong.
At the moment we have a first team squad of 26 made up of 11 home produced and 16 foreign players .

Bellerin and Adelaide are both U 21 and will not be in the 25.
Chessny, Martinez and Macey are all home grown and should be included if they stay
Likewise Sanogo and Wellington are both forieign and over 21.

  23. Wavy says:

And our one German won’t. He’ll be at home with his dog, resting! That’s a bit of good news then!

  24. Wath says:

You stillllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll going on about Sagna Ts, don’t think we made him go anywhere, the greedy arse went for mega money wages end of and we bought another right back, pretty simple really.

  25. Wath says:

Morning mate, Isn’t he due a new contract offer Adam……………….

I’d put it down to his agent stirring the pot for a decent increase no doubt….!
