The Start Of A Good Run?

Morning all.

Hope you all had a wonderful day yesterday and aren’t suffering with hangovers or indigestion this Boxing Day morning….

More importantly, I hope none of the players are as we kick off again at 5.30pm…

Arry is bringing his team to The Emirates and I bet he’s up for this game, he loves to cause an upset against us.

I have to be careful what I write today as the very kind man who built the new HH website and looks after everything when there’s a slight hiccup is a Qpr fan…. I’ve been warned… lol

Boxing Day fixtures have been kind to us under Arsene Wenger having lost just once and he thinks this festive time could be good for us:

We can make points. Our opponents will think that as well, but let’s just put the performances in and capitalise on it. The consistency in that period is what will matter.

Trouble is, we don’t do consistency, well, other than in the mistakes department and more of those today and Qpr, who despite not being able to win on the road, will capitalise on them.

Head to head:

Arsenal have won three of the last four meetings 1-0, including both games last season.
The Hoops were undefeated in their first six Premier League meetings with Arsenal (W2, D4) but have only won one of the next six (D1, L4).

Stats:

Arsenal have only lost one of their last seven matches in all competitions (W5, D1).
They have only lost one of their 17 Boxing Day Premier League matches (W11, D5).
Mathieu Debuchy became a record 20th Frenchman to score a Premier League goal for Arsenal against Liverpool last time out.
Arsene Wenger is one win shy of his 400th in the Premier League era.
Santi Cazorla has had a hand in five goals (three goals, two assists) in his last five league games.

QPR have yet to earn a point away from home this season (P8, L8).
They are the only team in the league who have yet to win on their travels and have only scored three goals away from Loftus Road.
Harry Redknapp’s side have conceded the opening goal in 13 of their 17 league games this season, more than any other side.
Charlie Austin is the top-scoring Englishman in the Premier League this season with 11.
Austin has scored nine goals in his last eight league appearances, all at home.

Come on Arsene, make sure this is not the day that Qpr bag their first victory…..

To be honest, I think he will. We’ve only lost once at home this season and had we been able to place our shots better, we wouldn’t have lost that one….

COYRRG’S, three points and a good performance please!!!

Enjoy your Boxing Day guys, it’s a trip to the inlaws for me so catch up around kick off time….

I predict four great performances and results, raising all our hopes, then it’s Stoke and Man City and realism will return πŸ™‚
Unless we buy some top players in time for Stoke (unlikely, but I live in hope)
    Brian

It all depends on which day it is , a good day we stuff them, an average day and we get by, on a bad day we go from calamity to scraping by . Who knows which day it will be.? Trouble is very few of us have got the confidence that we will see the good day on a regular basis.

  3. Wavy says:

A friend said to me, the other day “which Arsenal will turn up today?” He thought that I could answer that question with complete knowledge of the outcome! Like, I know!!!!
If we are awake enough and have the Scrooge spirit to xmas, we may win, but if we are still marvelling that Santa came down the chimney then we won’t!
That situation for me is horrendous! Once upon a time you could expect Arsenal to wipe the floor with QPR but anything could happen at present!
In the spirit of Christmas I think we should win and, win comfortably but………..?

Santa came to our house but he didn’t leave a lot, mostly empty boxes and the promise of jam tomorrow! Do you think he was trying to tell me something?

Morning all and a very happy Boxing Day to you all.

    Morning All,
    Wavy,Potter…This is now the problem.
Wenger biting his fingernails on the bench,
is not a great sight to see,for the players or the fans.

  5. Bt62 Gooner says:

Put ’em up. It’s Boxing Day……..

    Hope everybody survived yesterday……

If we can’t give QPR a good old proper thrashing today we may as well give up.

  6. George says:

    Good afternoon all…

I think Brian is right.. 4 good performances followed by stoke and Man City.

Lets hope we stay injury free over the next few games, as I can’t see Arsene signing anyone in January, only selling players that should stay and play.

Ever the optimist, I am going for 2-1 win today by the scruff of our necks. I think we will go 1 down before going 2-1 up only there wont be 10 mins injury time and we should hold out provided Merts doesnt duck his headers.

  7. George says:

oh well..lets hope West ham play like that against us. They gave Chelsea the 3 points on a plate….

Against us they will play like its their cup final-sods law

  8. AndrewH says:

Afternoon all. With results all going against us at moment, even more important to win well. Let’s hope Rosicky gives us the energy we so often lack.

  9. rico says:

Arsenal: Szczesny, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Monreal, Gibbs, Flamini, Cazorla, Rosicky, Alexis, Giroud, Welbeck

Subs: Ospina, Chambers, Bellerin, Coquelin, Walcott, Podolski, Campbell

QPR: Green; Isla, Onuoha, Ferdinand, Caulker, Traore; Mutch, Henry, Kranjcar; Austin, Vargas

Subs: McCarthy, Hill, Phillips, Fer, Wright-Phillips, Hoilett, Zamora

  10. Bt62 Gooner says:

    Evening all…..

Who’s that geezer, called Ospina on the bench?…..lol

    Good post Guvnor……

Surely the 3pts are our today, anything less would be scandalous…

  11. Hell Raising Devil says:

Good finish from a great cross.

Now for the rest of the team to score…..apart from Sanchez. I like it when he scores but I want the others to score as well.

Come on Danny boy. your turn now.

  12. potter says:

Interesting quip from Keown .On being told that Wenger must have been listening to him as Sanchez and Welbeck switched sides. He said that would be a first time.

  13. Joaquim Moreira says:

Flamini plays very close the central backs. He can plays ahead.
Or, he can be replace by Podorsky for playing on the left side , or rosicky out and Podolsky in..
However, this is the line up for Wenger. He replaces Ox by Rosicky , Chambers for Debuchy and Monreal for chambers and the structure and the football it’s the some.
So, we can expect much more for this strategy .. sometimes maybe good others (unfortunately mostly) will be bad.
However, this is a dangerous score and we can win this by 3 or 4, which will be importante for the table.

  14. scottfromoz says:

We had a terrific Xmas thanks mate.
Hope all is well with and the family.
I have my first coaching gig with adults next year….should be fun πŸ™‚
Probably more childish than the 7 year olds hahahaha

  15. Hell Raising Devil says:

Giroud should be fined for that. He will be out of the next 3 matches now and no doubt that would be detrimental to the team. Yes we have DW23 but OG12 gives the team a different dimension.

  16. scottfromoz says:

Maybe there’s been a genuine reason, Lewis.
How how would we know what happens behind the scenes, as much as we like to think we do?

  17. scottfromoz says:

    Lewis, so what?
I didn’t say the reason could be one Tommy likes.
How the fuck was that a penalty???
The angle the ball came off showed Debuxhy got a touch so what was the dickhead watching?

  18. Lewis says:

Make a change maybe arsene?! Someone with pace that might make them think twice maybe?! Do we have anyone that fits that description?

  19. Hell Raising Devil says:

Do you honest think that with OG12 sent off that Theo would get a look in unless Alexis is injured?? lol

that is not the way AW operates.

In a way AW is like a women….you never can understand what is in her mind. And that is the way of AW

  20. Joaquim Moreira says:

giroud 3 games out and we played with ten when we have another game on sunday…
hope AW line up with diferente players…
how many Arsenal players have been sent off this year?

  21. Wavy says:

Well, another bottom 6 team comprehensively beaten!
    Where will it all end?
    When will it all end?

Potter Devil, Keown’s remark tells us all we ever wanted to know about Wenger’s coaching methods. It’s his way or it’s no way at all! I wonder if he has heard the expression, ‘no man is an island’. Such stubborn stupidity, no wonder we are where we are!

What’s left of Boxing Day I hope you all have a really peaceful evening. I’m all shook up!

  22. rico says:

I’m off too guys, glad we got three points, I really am but that was woeful. Giroud really pissed me off, I thought he was better than that…

    Night all

  23. allezkev says:

My God, what a bloody struggle…

In The Rocket with my lad having a few.
    Best part of Christmas.
3 points and a few pints with family…

    Evening All

  24. Adam says:

Just got home. Soaking wet and thoroughly miserable. If you want to see incompetence then get yourself over the Emirates. Incompetent and probably bent ref. The moronic and completely unprofessional but In love with himself, Giroud. And Wenger with his lunatic substitutions and general lack of any sort of dynamism whatsoever. Chambers on and playing wide right being constantly bollocked by Flamini for doing nothing and this after Wenger told us that he is shot and needs taking out of the firing line. Talk about inviting a crap team like QPR onto you. We very nearly gave them the draw too.
What is going on over there is shocking and it’s getting worse.

  25. Micko says:

Like I said yesterday, another classic at the Emirates.

Just thank the Lord it wasn’t at the “Mecca Loft” , we were always going to be slight favourites at home.

Up the Gooners, bring on the Hammers !

  26. Adam says:

Grey old day here Rico. I doubt I will risk the Selfridges sale. πŸ™‚
I do need something to take my mind off things after wasting yesterday evening though. πŸ™‚

  27. rico says:

Blue skies and sunshine here Adam… Go on, treat yourself.. πŸ˜‰

    Morning Lee…

GG, a win yes, but some dreadful stuff from a few…

  28. Adam says:

If Wenger had anything about him he would kick the Wally out and use the money to buy Bony or Benteke. That’s if he still wants a big lump up front that is.

  29. Adam says:

I did qualify that suggestion Rico. Sanchez shows Wenger the level he should be looking at. With the possible exception of Santi who is going pretty well at the moment, he is head and shoulders above the rest of the team in attitude, work rate and quality. As a match day experience yesterday was really scraping the barrel. Not helped by the fact that we were soaked through though I admit.
Thousands agreed and stayed away. πŸ™‚

  30. rico says:

Said yesterday Adam, if we had 11 players with the work ethic of Alexis, we’d blow the league apart…

We have far too many who really aren’t good enough…

  31. Adam says:

I agree Rico. The lack of drive within the club these days is pathetic really as is the mind-numbing predictability of it all.
Giroud’s antics yesterday were somehow emblematic of the state of the place. Sinking beneath the weight of crushing boredom yet still primarily concerned with the detrimental effect the rain was having on his hairstyle while breaking into a half-hearted jog and striking macho poses for the cameras.

  32. scottfromoz says:

Gibbs and Debuxhy are going well guys, and Szczesny seems to have pulled his head in and is in fine form.
    Morning all.

  33. scottfromoz says:

Absolutely no question that Wenger invited QPR to take their best shot at us, and gave them their chance to grab a result.

  34. Lee says:

So Wenger didn’t buy Fabregas because of how much he’d spent on Ozil or that he’d stop Ramsey/ Wilshere’s progress?? I got asked that the other day…… for me only Sanchez is on a par with Fabregas in our current team and this is the quality of player we should buying! The squad is unbalanced and littered with sub standard players BUT Le Boss thinks we’re in with a shout!!! Deluded fool….

  35. Lee says:

Matic was good yesterday, he’s exactly what we’ve been missing for years….still we’ve got Flamini waving his arms about like a fucking windmill and Arteta! Enough said….

  36. Adam says:

Brudder. If you are not moving forward then it’s probably because you are going backwards and, no matter who Wenger buys, that is where we have been heading for quite a few years now. The whole place is stale beyond belief now as more and more Wengerites fall off the wagon. Just listening to the conversations in and around the ground is depressing. Just don’t start them off on Fabregas. πŸ™‚

  37. Lee says:

Mertsacker needs replacing if we want to win anything….. I just think they’re happy with 4th and cup run they don’t actually give a flying fuck about seriously winning stuff!

  38. Lee says:

Actually Wenger needs replacing if we want to compete at the highest level, I’m bored of just making the numbers up every season!

  39. Adam says:

Brudder. You gotta laugh really. πŸ™‚
I personally found yesterday tough going. QPR are the worst team I have seen over there for a while and yet we still contrived to almost mess it up. That is twice that plank Giroud has let his team, the club and the fans down. I wouldn’t let it happen a third time.

  40. Wavy says:

I noticed the Ox had his say on how helpful TH14 had been, giving him coaching about playing up front, excellent to know that an old master can guide the apprentices. Sad thing is though, the Ox has just crucified Henry’s chances of a permanent appointment! I mean how could he possibly know more than Wenger? Wenger has been coaching for 30 years and wrote the book, apart from which Thierry just might contradict the great coaching guru!

Morning all, fine blue skies here along with the 4 inches of snow!
