The 'Next Wilshere' signs on! The Real One is back as is Frimpong & and just four left in the sick bay….

Morning Gooners, it’s all good news today.

Firstly, 17 year old Academy scholar Jack Jebb, a young player who is expected to take the Jack Wilshere path rather than the David Bentley one, has signed professional terms with the Club.

He’s a London born and bred player who is described as a technically-gifted central midfielder who joined Arsenal’s academy a year early and has reaped the rewards, making his breakthrough into the under-18 side last season.  He’s also represented England at both under-16 and under-17 level.

The real Jack Wilshere, well finally he is back in full training, as is Emmanuel Frimpong!

The boys are back….

That truly is a wonderful sight!

It’s been a long time since we have seen both of of those two young men playing the game they love and I strongly suspect that both are as thrilled to be back, as we are to see them.

Another photograph from the official site speaks volumes in my mind.

Happy Chappies??

Theo Walcott really looks happy alongside Jack and Alex doesn’t he, maybe the return of his mate Jack will make him see sense and finally realise that money doesn’t always bring happiness.

We are a club on the up, a club that can give him trophies in the future, a club that will give him all he needs in football, he just needs to wake up and realise that and sign his new contract.

The return of Frimpong is equally as important as Wilshere, especially after the recent comments that Francis Coquelin has made. Frimpong loves our club, he wants to play only for our club and there is no way he will be saying any time soon that if he’s not played, he will think about moving on.

So if Le Coq thinks he needs to be playing, then he either needs to start performing when he gets the chance and prove himself, or standby and watch Frimpong push him out – because in my opinion, he will.

Things were already looking good, but after yesterday, they are looking even better. The return of the two young men means that now we have only four players left needing treatment and all four are very close to a return, although the extent of Szczesny’s injury is yet to be confirmed as is the injury to Fabianski.

Both Tomas Rosicky and Bacary Sagna are 2/3 weeks away from a return.

Just how strong will we be then?

That’s it for another day, have a good one all…..

    Morning all,

What great news to cheer up a dampish Friday morning.

Great news not only for Arsenal, but for England as well. I know we all moan about International games being played at important times in the calender but the England team does matter and to see Arsenal players, like the three pictured above, plus Gibbs being included in future squads will help to raise the profile of Arsenal as a club and help put a stop to the negative comments in the press.

  2. nigel tufnel says:

eventually, with jack, rosicky, ramsey, coquelin, frimpong, arteta, diaby,cazorla.. we will have without doubt best midfield in the league..but…if we never rotate or sub ..it wont matter..our guys will be exhausted and underperform, or pick up injuries..we cant afford that with arteta and cazorla in particular—not that great if we dont use our depth
.. ……… five matches, and our most irreplaceable players have almost all played the full 90 mins..koscielny back, santos available. jenkinsons young and could use rest also soon..Cazorla and Verm played in their internationals as well.
Vermaelen is captain, does it mean he has to play every single match, full 90? we have the best 3 cb’s in the league also, so use the third occasionally.

. —-you see how tired the team was in second half at Montpellier…use the squad, and keep everybody happy.

  3. rico says:

Seriously though, I am really excited about Frimps coming back, less twitter, more focus and we could see a super little player. He’s strong both mentally and physically.

Under Bould he will become far more disciplined….

  4. Canadian Gooner says:

    Good morning Rico et al.

It’s great to see our treatment room is finally beginning to clear out. Though I don’t expect we’ll see much of Wilshere or Frimpong until October. I’ll also be interested to see Rosicky play with Cazorla.

I understand Arsene is trying to arrange some behind closed door friendkies to get Wilshere and the others some game time before throwing them in at the deep end in a competitive game.

  5. rico says:

    Hi bondex,

When afc had their own television programme they used to show all the reserve/youth matches. I watched Jebb back then and he looked a real talent.

Haven’t seen him recently but he really is meant to be something special…

  6. rico says:

I would say enjoy it JW 😉

Hi CG – I agree we won’t see either too soon, but just seeing them training and not reading ‘Jack suffers setback’ will keep us happy.

We don’t need to rush either back which makes a change, normally as soon as they kick a ball they are back, but our squad is deeper in strength, and all being well it will stay like that…

    Next is Tomas and Bac….

  7. richhudsonsmith says:

Jack Jebb is the next Jack Jebb.

Comparing him to Jack Wilshere just puts more pressure on the lad and makes it less likely that he will become as good as Jack Wilshere.

  8. rico says:

    Hi NT,

I’m not so sure we were tired in the second half on Tuesday, we just made it hard for ourselves by misplacing passes too often. Had we been able to keep the ball we would have dictated the game at our own pace but hey ho, we won in the end..

Totally agree re rotation and this season we have the depth to do that properly… I suspect we will see that when we face Coventry but for Man City and Chelsea we need to stick with the side that has been doing well imho…

  9. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico — “It’s a playtex post today.” Is that a product placement advert?

I am looking forward to the start of the Capital One Cup, as I hope to see some of the Academy and revamped U21 league stars such as Chuba Akpom. It is nice to see some of our brightest youngsters that I have only read about in articles by the likes of Jeorge Bird and Jamie Sanderson.

  10. Canadian Gooner says:

Good morning Scott. I hope our recent wins have been the tonic you needed to recover.

I meant to ask you earlier, what breed of canines are you racing?

  11. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. Jebb sounds like a good ‘un. We are slowly getting some depth in midfield so we must all hope that Jack’s recovery goes smoothly. I still have questions but there is a good vibe about at the moment so I will stow them away for another time.

  12. Rupe says:

Errr, Rico…. the heading describes him as “the next Jack Wilshere”. If that’s not comparing one Jack to the other then I don’t know what is!

  13. rico says:

    😆 Adam

Errrrr Rupe, and the post explains why, it has nothing to do with their style of play, it is the expected path in their career. The ” ” around Jack kind of hints as such…

  14. Adam says:

The exclamation marks should be taken as quoting a way in which he has previously been referred to. Rico never compares him to Jack Wilshire. It is just a headline.

  15. W.A.T.H says:

They are all out today eh…………. comment on a headline without reading the article……!!

    Was that RockHudson on earlier..?

    Morning all…….!

  16. Lee says:

    ‎50 shades of Basildon..

Even though he only had one tattoo I yearned for him to fill those lonely hours between Jeremy Kyle and Loose Women.
As he approached his smile told me it was benefit day and I knew my Lonsdale top would be hanging off the lamp shade tonight. As I stood in line at the Job Centre a sweet smell filled the air. It was a mixture of weed, B.O and Lynx Africa. I turned around and there was John. Our eyes met and he was soon lifting me onto the wheelie bins outside Lidls. There was a tramp watching but it just added to the mystery. I knew it was love when i could feel the cold edge of his sovereign ring rubbing the ring of my arsehole and i knew my life would never be the same again!

  17. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico — Will your “playtex post” become part of the Highbury House lexicon, like AGAG’s “oozing Cazorlove”?

  18. Canadian Gooner says:

Lee — I am not sure what “50 shades of Basildon..” has to do with Arsenal or today’s post, but thank you for the good read and chuckle.

  19. Adam says:

Funny enough Lee I was thinking just this morning about chopping it in for a green one I have seen recently. Cheaper than a new motor.

  20. boomergooner1727 says:

    morning rico and fellow gooners.

great to see the lads getting fit while the team grinds out results. without overstating boulde’s impact i think a couple of seasons in this ‘new’ arsenal could lead to a more technically sound frimpong and that is frightening in the BEST way possible.

  21. rico says:

Morning b1727, sure is – just need Giroud to start scoring and the way City defended against Real Madrid, that could happen this Sunday…

  22. Javi says:

Buy Mbiwa and Demba Ba in Jan for a combined 14M. Give Djorou as part of the Mbiwa Exchange, and Charmak as part of the Demba exchange then have an FA Cup and Capital team like this:

    Manone/Fabianski
    Jenkinson, Koscienly, Mbiwa, Santos

    Wilshere, Coq, Rosicky

    Walcot, Demba Ba, Arshavin.

    Leaves you with:
    Schezny
    Sagna, Meter, Verm, Gibbs

    Arteta, Diaby, Carzola

    AOC, Gervi, Podolski

Joint Substitutes include: Giroud, Frimpong, Esterfield, Miquel, Gnaby and a few oter young stars

Obviously, people can flow from one team to the other, but this highlights a good level of depth and AFC are just one or two players away from very good quality depth in each position.

  23. Canadian Gooner says:

Once Giroud scores his first goal, the floodgates will open. Gibbs and Jenks have greatly improved their crossing of the ball. Gibbs had two great assists on Southampton’s two OGs and Jenks’ great assist on Gervinho’s goal vs. Montpellier. If they can learn to cross to Giroud’s head we are away to the races. Giroud or whoever else is in shooting position will have ‘s hopballs laid on a plate for them.

Let’s hope the team can lay waste to Abu Dabhi Citeh and truly make it the Wastelands.

  24. rico says:

Arsène Wenger has revealed the latest team news ahead of the Manchester City game.

    on Emmanuel Frimpong…

He is a bit in front of Jack [Wilshere] on match fitness. He has worked a very, very long time and he is ready.

    on Rosicky and Sagna…

Sagna is one week away from full training, and Rosicky two.

  25. rico says:

I think so too Cg, but the longer the drought goes on, more pressure he will put on himself. Really hope he gets off the mark soon…

  26. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico — While I never wish or hope for players to get injured, I regard incidents like that as karma. What goes around comes around.

  27. Canadian Gooner says:

“Shame eh”; I certainly wont lose sleep over either of situations. I’ll sleep like the proverbial baby.

  28. rico says:

Ha ha Cg, there are a few, and he is one of them, who I don’t feel sorry for when they get injured. There is another who shall remain nameless….. 😉

Popping off for an hour… Catch up shortly

  29. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico — ‘He’ who shall not be named has his turn coming. I can feel it in my aging bones and maybe he will too. There is an international ‘break’ coming up soon. That usually does it for him.

  30. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico — As I have said before; anything, within reason of course, for the Lady of the House. We will try to oblige.

  31. devilgunner says:

Good Afternoon my Esteemed Fellow Gunners.

Good to see the return of Jack and Frimps. Looking forward to seeing them against Coventry maybe.

Safe to say that it might be this line up I think…..

    Shea
    Jenkinson,Djorou, Koscielny,Santos
    Ramsey,Giroud,Walcott

did I leave anyone out??? Arshavin and Chamack are not going to stay are they???

  32. devilgunner says:

So the line up should read…..

    Shea
    Jenkinson,Djourou,Koscielny,Santos
    Coquelin,Frimpong,Walcott
    Ramsey,Giruod,Walcott

  33. Canadian Gooner says:

DG — It’s like that when we have nothing to rile us into a lather. The banter is flying back and forth, then it’s as if everyone nods of at their keyboards.

Onthat note, I’m of to the Land of Nod. Have a good day fellow Gooners.

  34. Scott from Oz says:

Sorry Devil…i am watching the mighty Sydney Swans spanking Collingwood to qualify for the AFL(aussie rles) Grand Final!!!!
    Massive night for the bloods!!?

  35. allezkev says:

I can’t wait for the sequel, ’50 Shades of Dagenham’.
Then the trilogy, ‘It Happened at Gants Hill’.
It Happened Again at Gants Hill’.
    And.
‘Above and Beyond Barking, The Final Reckoning’…

  36. allezkev says:

Hey Shopping Buddy, how’s things in S.E.Asia..?

My wallet is in recovery, so nothing on the purchases front sadly…

Jack jebb, Jon Toral, Kris Olssen, three quality midfield talents.
Our Academy is really in overdrive when it comes to technically gifted players…

  37. allezkev says:

    Afternoon Gooners.
Afternoon Rico. I’ve not fallen off the roof yet… 😉
Finishing it off today, thankfully, as i don’t like heights…

  38. agirlagunner says:

My purse is forever in the sick bay, AK. 😉 😀 At least, yours is recovering.

    Still rainy-ish here. 🙁

  39. Will XL says:

Even though I’d love for us to take a real shot at the league cup, i hope Wenger runs the second string as far as they can go. They’re good enough to make a real push for it.

  40. Adam says:

Agag. Not bad. I am just about to plunge into a busy period which is a shame as I have turned relaxing into something of an art form. Still, I have to pay the bills. And I have some short stories waiting for a publisher.
Rico. Shame that Wright couldn’t get that extra run eh?

  41. Adam says:

It’s still quite bright here Rico but it rained earlier.
I hope Agag is right about us winning something this year. 🙂

  42. rico says:

Personally, I think agag could be right. Injuries will play a huge part but should we finally get a break in that department, I truly believe we could win something.

It has been a long time since we have had such depth/strength in our squad.

But, up front and in defence, one injury could really sting us…..

We too had a little rain, but it only lasted minutes. Tomorrow is meant to be a beautiful bright and sunny day. Sunday though will be horrid….

  43. TalkShiteGingerHater says:

I m please for henderson. if he can get up to 7 starts in the 3 months that will be good for both parties

  44. rico says:

Agree there Tsgh – how many younger midfielders do we actually have on our books, what happens to them all long term i wonder?

We seem to have an endless pot, yet up front and in defence we are quite sparse

  45. TalkShiteGingerHater says:

That has always been the our academy’s issue. We seem to produce players in batches in the same position at the same time. No 19-21 year old coming through bar Afobe.

  46. rico says:

I did a post about that once Tsgh, about youth killing youth – I’ll find it if you are interested….

Not suggesting it was good of course 😉

  47. JW says:

Survived the walk, it didn’t rain at all, dropped in to my local for the Friday Special, Battered cod and chips plus a couple of pints of Cornish bitter. Luvverly!

  48. rico says:

We have the squad Adam, but if injuries hit…….

Hi JW – sounds simply lovely… Not sure about the Cornish bitter though 😉

  49. goonster says:

it so gonna be a sad birthday for me guys…no family, no friends. i feel so down right now. Dreading tomorrow, oh well at least i ve got you guys to cheer me up but God what i ll give to be home around my folks and friends…..bummer. look at me bring the house down……afternoon HH.

  50. rico says:

Goonie – you have HH, we are all your friends, get on here and we can all ‘cyber celebrate’ with you getting the first round in….

Evening to you cheeky one…. How old are you tomorrow?

  51. goonster says:

come on arsenal give me something to cheer about for my birthday….whup the tar outta man shitty…..it ll make a wonderful birthday weekend for me. COYGS!

  52. goonster says:

i ll stick with the winning formula will…gervinho did well in the past 2 games. his movement ll drag the shitty defense all over the place and create space for poldi, santi and oxcham.

  53. goonster says:

i think we ll do well but the game will hinge on who makes the first mistake. hopefully them…cause the other team ll just roll them up like a carpet during counter attacks.

  54. Adam says:

It’s a collection of short stories Stan. Not much call for them really, but it’s a sideline I enjoy in my spare time.

  55. goonster says:

crikey, i write too….am currently writing a book on short dutch folklore, its for kids though. men you just keep trailing after me adam. what’s that about? *big smile*

  56. Adam says:

Anyway, it’s that time of day that I indulge in a bit of musical therapy. I will be around later if you want a chat Stan. 🙂

  57. allezkev says:

Stan, 26, almost as old as Wath……. 😆
Wath would give anything to be 26 again… 😀
Mind you, so would many on here including me…. 😛

  58. allezkev says:

Steven Howard of The Sun saying how POOR, yes POOR Arsenal’s defence is. #Clueless

That wanker has to be a Spud…
    What a complete tosser….

  59. allezkev says:

I’m good Stan, finished the garage roof today, with help of my mate…
Now waiting for another mate to turn up with some beers… 😉

Arsenal transfer news Sign or be sold: Wenger hints that Walcott could be available in January

Liverpool will bid for winger who hasn’t started for Arsenal since rejecting a new £75k per week deal, while City and Chelsea fancy him on a Bosman

  63. allezkev says:

Arsene Wenger has given Theo Walcott a two-month ultimatum to sign a new deal – or risk being sold in January.

Walcott is being frozen out at Arsenal, and will not start at Manchester City on Sunday as his contract stand-off drags on.

It will increase the likelihood of Walcott leaving Arsenal – Liverpool will make an offer in the winter window, Manchester City are lining up a mega-bucks contract for a summer Bosman and Chelsea also fancy him.

Walcott has not started a game for Arsenal since stalling on a £75,000-a-week contract offer, and Gunners manager Wenger admits that the next couple of months will be crucial and will decide the player’s future.

“I haven’t picked him, it’s true, and it’s quite a good question,” said the Frenchman. “I still hope to sign him and the next two months will be vital because, after that, the longer this situation lasts the more difficult it is.

“Let’s hope we can find a solution in the next two months but the fact he doesn’t play regularly at the moment is right, but it’s not necessarily linked with his contract situation.”

Wenger insisted Arsenal can afford to go beyond January, but the Mirror understands Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will bid – and that any offer is likely to be entertained by the Gunners, rather than the alternative of potentially losing him for free.

City and Chelsea would rather wait, and a better personal package is likely to be on offer if Walcott is a free agent next summer.

When pressed on whether Arsenal would sell in January, Wenger said: “It will depend on the needs of the team and the club. We can afford to go to the end (of the contract) if needed.

“No player is happy when he doesn’t play.

“At the moment, Koscielny doesn’t play. He’s just extended his contract and still doesn’t play because the defence is doing well.

“That’s only temporary because by the end of the season they will all play.”

  64. Will XL says:

The fans haven’t been particularly supportive of Theo. Probably because our expectations of him have been so high. I think we should at least try him through the middle before throwing him away. I would hate to see him excel at that position somewhere else.

  65. rico says:

Ches or Fabianski must be back for tomorrow as Shea played for the under 21’s last night, surely he wouldn’t be on the bench for Citeh.?
