The Impact of Arsenal’s Squad Transition.

Arsene Wenger has done a lot of great things for Arsenal, the fans and especially the stakeholders. Arsenal FC is a highly profitable club, with a transfer strategy that generates a lot of money for its coffers.

However, it’s been a while since major changes were made and results have been far from satisfying. In anticipation of what promises to be one of the most contested Premier League seasons in a decade, the manager was forced to react. The club is now making a squad transition, after letting some of its iconic players go.

The End of an Era and Arsenal.

Jack Wilshere played for nearly 8 years for Arsenal, after making his spectacular debut back in 2008. He played an important role in the midfield next to Aaron Ramsey and for a while, it looked like he was irreplaceable. Unfortunately for the gifted player, he sustained numerous injuries and played significantly fewer games than what he and the fans were hoping.

Eventually, Wenger had no option but to let him go out on loan and now the young man is playing for Bournemouth. Aaron Ramsey had his fair share of success about three years ago but today competition is downright crushing.

Other players, such as Xhaka and Elneny are head and shoulders above him and unlikely to lose their place in the first 11. Furthermore, a new batch of young players coming through strongly from behind, with the likes of Vlad Dragomir, Krystian Bielik, Kelechi Nwakali and Daniel Crowley being now regarded as the future.

Wenger made a few moves in the summer and brought in Lucas Perez to bolster his attacking options. The back-line has been improved by the addition of Mustafi and Rob Holding. Chambers though, like Wilshere has been sent out on loan to prove himself. Other players too who were expected to shine through one or two years ago are still trying to find their rhythm.

Arsenal Closes an Important Chapter.

The most important changes before the beginning of the season were in regard to veterans leaving the club. Tomas Rosicky played for a decade in London and used to be an important midfielder for Arsenal. The 36-year-old was finally let go and returned to the Czech Republic to play for Sparta Praga.

Arteta played here for just five years and as his contract came to an end, he decided to end his career as a professional footballer and join Pep at City. Podolski did a fine job for the club since joining, but Wenger decided to let him go nevertheless and he now plays for Galatasaray. Flamini is yet another example of player who no longer had a place at Arsenal. After spending some time on the bench, he chose Crystal Palace, reigniting the competition in the midfield among young players.

Arsenal have always found a way to restore their former glory and they long overdue a Premier League trophy.
