The here and now matters more right now.

Morning all.

Two days to go until Arsenal restart their season, yet the media and NewsNow/Arsenal is full of transfer rumours. Most are ridiculous like the one to Silva who is closer to quitting the game than restarting a career in the toughest league there is going but some of them might turn out to be true. Not because I actually believe what’s written but the law of averages would suggest that eventually a players name mentioned on the internet, might end up playing for Arsenal next season.

Why is it that football fans seem to care more right now about who will be at the club next season than who will be getting us through the next ten League fixtures. Or the FA Cup which despite a few big clubs left in the competition, no one really knows how players will perform without their fans supporting them in the stadium. Anfield is an incredible place to play I’d imagine because of the atmosphere, the Etihad can be noisy too, just as that rough looking stadium down the road from ours can be. Most stadiums can be hostile places to go to but our guys don’t have to worry about that our with the majority of our remaining fixtures being away from home, it’s a huge bonus. All our players have to do is concentrate on themselves, being mentally prepared for the game and the journey. Nothing else. I know it’s the same for all clubs but we’ve not been particularly good on the road for a long time. This really is the perfect opportunity to get over any psychological issues which might be present. I’d be thrilled with a draw on Wednesday but imagine what a victory would do for the players confidence.

I’m hoping Liverpool will have clinched the title by the time we play them and logic suggests they will have so if they turn up still in party mood, we can beat them too. To be honest, they’re beatable anyway. Didn’t Watford prove that? Again, it’s about mental attitude, being prepared and being committed.

Last season we really struggled at Wolves, one of the places we have to go to before the seasons end. No doubt about it, we need all three points, just as we do at Villa Park, St Mary’s, The Amex and especially at the second best stadium in north London. Then there’s our home fixtures, Liverpool, Leicester and Norwich. Norwich need a miracle to stay up I think but Leicester will be tough, very tough. Its their best season since winning the title but Champions League football is not yet a certainty although it might be by the time we play them. Hopefully not, in fact barring Liverpool, I hope none of the remaining European places, especially the Champions League have been secured before that fixture as it might just mean we remain in the running for both of them.

I remain positive that we’ll push up the table into a Europa League spot at least but to do that we need the players we have to be on top form. It’s who we have now, and only them who can finish this season well and with a quick turnaround before next season looking very likely, a positive end to this current one is crucial I think.

Whether Aubameyang, Lacazette, AMN or whoever is here next season is irrelevant right now. There’ll be time for that in a few weeks time..

It’s hard to believe that in 48 hours time, our players will be arriving in Manchester. If they haven’t arrived by then already. Yep, I’m really looking forward to seeing Arsenal playing again.

A Monday morning waffle over, ‘til tomorrow guys..

Good afternoon Rico. Yep just four more sleeps before Arsenal take to the pitch again. Before you correct me, at my age an afternoon nap is essential. 😉

  2. Sue says:

An afternoon nap?! 😀 You’ll probably have an extra long one on Thursday, Cicero, what with all the excitement of Wednesday night 😉
Afternoon to you and Rico… I can’t believe it’s only 2 days away!! So excited 😊 Auba is only 2 goals behind Vardy, in the golden boot. Aguero is only 1 behind Auba… Auba is yet to score against City, whilst I’ve lost count of how many times Aguero has netted against us!! Whatever the result, it’s gonna be a belter!!

  3. Sue says:

What has been your highlight of the season so far, Rico? Mine, without a doubt, has to be Watford’s dismantling of Liverpool 😀Bloody loved it! My lowest point though was our exit from the Carabao cup… absolutely crushing… I threw a right strop that night 😂

  4. rico says:

Afternoon Sue, does Auba score against the big teams? Lacazette doesn’t often score on the road so Eddie or Gabriel to start then.. lol

Nice re Dominos, I do like a pizza occasionally but guess what? 😜

Kev, that’s a yes. Afternoon to you..

Agree Lc, how many times do the Mail write something like, ‘Paul, a gay man from Wigan’…. blah blah but never write, Paul, a heterosexual man from Wigan’…. blah blah?

They don’t and it’s the same for any story about a male or female who isn’t white and heterosexual.

  7. Sue says:

Even spongebob squarepants hit the headlines yesterday for being gay!! Can you believe it?! 🤪

Ha, Rico, a spud loss goes without saying 😉 yes Count Emery giiven the heave-ho was spot on!!

  8. Le Coq Monster says:

Really struggling at the moment, my beautiful Chocolate Cocker Spaniel Max is literally on his last legs, he cant keep up and keeps falling over, even when he does his mess, I have to pick him up all the time, he is crying all the time and I cant bear the thought of having to make a decission which is killing me emotionally, he looks at me and my heart melts.
I love dogs and I really mean it this time Max will be our last dog I dont want to go through this pain again. 😥

  10. rico says:

    Ditto Lc.

Bloody heck. I get it re Max. Losing our animals is hard. Harder than any non animal lover will ever understand. Heartbreaking is an understatement. I really feel for you Lc and the decision you’re going to have to make.

  11. Le Coq Monster says:

Thanks Rico……………………the unconditional love of a dog is something special, I dont even like referring to Max as a dog as in my mind and eyes he`s my furry son.

  12. Sue says:

I’m so sorry to hear that, Le Coq, I do sympathize, it’s a horrible decision to have to make. Playing god like that, you have to do what’s right for them, doesn’t make it any easier though. My dog is my little baby… I can’t imagine life without her.

  13. Allen Fryatt says:

I feel your pain ,we had to make the heartbreaking decision early May to say goodbye to our Jack Russel,i’m crying typing this so i understand your agony on what you have to do .Be brave kiss him farewell.

  14. Le Coq Monster says:

Thanks Sue and AF………………….my wife always tells me off for kissing my Max, but I love him……………..love at first sight, I remember choosing him from a litter of pups and he fitted in the palm of my hand.

  15. Potter says:

We have a cavalier King Charles and a miniature poodle with a couple of cats in a plot under a tree in the garden. Never again, although the temptation when you see abandoned rescue dogs has to be suppressed.
It’s the hardest decision to make but sometimes it has to be done. Don’t envy you .

  16. allezkev says:

Sorry to hear that Cocker, I hope you have an honest and sympathetic vet because we need their guidance at this stage of an animals life…

  17. Le Coq Monster says:

    Thanks everyone.
Yes, Kev`, I need expert opinion and need to know that Max is indeed in pain. If not I will carry on helping him.
