“The best thing about London is Arsenal, the worst is Tottenham!”

Morning all.

Tomáš Rosický

Born on the 4th October 1980, this young man would go on to be one of his country’s finest midfield players. His club career began at Sparta Prague and from there he went Borussia Dortmund before joining Arsenal. He was nicknamed “the little Mozart” for his ability to “orchestrate” the midfield.

I can remember the summer he sighed for us. Sky Sports announced Tomáš had left the Czech national team training camp to sign for Arsenal and it was exciting news. We’d signed a player from Dortmund, a player who would make a huge difference to a team which was already starting to fall apart.

Sadly for Tomáš and for all Arsenal fans, the international genius suffered injury after injury which had a big impact on his Arsenal career. Saying that, he still managed 247 matches over a ten year career with us. The hardest season for him would no doubt have been 2008/09 when he didn’t play in a match all season. His final season was similar and it was then he returned to Sparta Prague where it all began for him. After just thirteen appearances in two years, Tomáš has decided to call it a day and I’m not surprised, after all he is 37 years old.

A wonderful footballer who we Arsenal fans had the privilege of watching play the game in an Arsenal shirt. He wasn’t one who couldn’t be bothered to put in a shift for his club that’s for sure. The only sad thing is that we didn’t get to see enough of him.

I didn’t know this this little nugget about Tomáš. During the season he didn’t play for us, he learned to play the guitar and in March 2010 he performed live on stage with rock band Tři sestry.

Enjoy your retirement Tomáš….

Yes Rico, partically liked this………………………..” For one last time, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Arsenal Football Club. For me, it’s a fantastic club and it was always an honour for me to play for Arsenal. I always had a special bond with the fans. Every time I played, they knew that I was playing for the shirt. I always played for the shirt because it was an honour for me to represent such a great club like Arsenal. One thing is for sure, I’m a Gunner forever”.

Obviously I love his quote in the headline of the post !

All the players should come out with such quotes, like Jack did at the FA Cup parade !………..”What do you think of Tottnumb ?”………………it immediately gives them a bond with the fans regardless of their ability !
Look at Jenkinson and his bedroom covered in Arsenal everything !……………………………..photo of Merts as a youngster in an Arsenal shirt !……………………………………Harry Kane celebrating in Arsenal shirt with red hair !…….hahaha

I will be at the works Xmas party when we play Bindippers, so I`ll have one eye on the score and one eye on the fit well scrubbed up women watching my latino dance moves !

    😆

Morning Adam, watching him being interviewed I’d agree. A lovely chap who loved Arsenal. So different from today’s kind of player..

  6. Wavy says:

    Not Sanchez, certainly!

Wee Thomas a genius of a player but not enough seen really. When fit, he was a joy to watch, sadly he wasn’t around often though. He could and should have been a proper club legend. Still we had a bit of him!

    Cloudy here but surprisingly warm!

Not sure I would want to see “last tango in Polperro ” LC. All those moves with hot salsa could be too much to bear. I’m sticking to the Arsenal , more refined and less active.

  8. Le Coq Monster says:

I compare my latino moves on the dance floor when drunk to Sanogo`s footballing ability………………………………..I think I`m good, but I`m shit really !.
    😆

Just watched an FA Cup game back in 1977 on BT 1 sport, Arsenal away to Middlesborough. No idea what the score was going to be, we lost 4-1 !
    Wenegr Out !

  10. micko says:

What good would that do rico ? Take Bouldy for instance, he’s been with us for donkey’s years and none of our defenders even know what a sliding tackle is !

  11. micko says:

rico, tapping into a players knowledge……not really one of Wegners best qualities is it !

Can just picture it now, “Dennis, the job is yours but nothing changes, it’s left, right, backwards, left, right, backwards, you don’t like it then I’ll book you back on the next ferry to Holland”

  12. micko says:

Forgot to mention it leaves at 2am rico !

Dennis was different quality, he could pass a ball on Wednesday evening and tell you exactly where it was the following Saturday afternoon !

When you look back it was a great time to be an Arsenal supporter especially if you were lucky enough to get along to the games.

  13. rico says:

Reading’s coach Sal Bibbo will join Arsenal in the new year. Looks like more changes are going on.

A goalkeeping coach I hasten to add… At last!

  14. rico says:

He was a wonderfully gifted player Micko and I was lucky enough to see him play live a few times.. Those were the days eh…

    Mary Hopkins wasn’t it? Lol

  15. Le Coq Monster says:

If any of you watched the game I mentioned earlier on BT 1 sport Vs Boro in 1977, you`ll be happy with the boring stuff we play now and that side had Alan Hudson and Liam Brady !………………..I`d like to think it was down to the ploughed up field it was played on, honestly, terrible defending that make our lot now look like Baresi, Maldini and co !

    😆

  16. rico says:

I’m off guys, think I have the ladies version of man flu heading my way so see you all in 2018 ??

Night all and safe journey over Micko…

  17. micko says:

You wrap up warm rico, about time the HH Christmas pudding put in a shift anyway….over to you Wath.

Merry Christmas guys, catch you all in the New Year.

  18. Le Coq Monster says:

Peter Simpson was playing in defence with David O`Leary, Micko…………absolute shambles it was, if we had the internet then, Lee would have lost the plot !…………….it must have turned Tery Neil to drink !…..hahaha

Interesting Rico………..the ladies version of the flu !………….that`s impossible !, a woman can never endure such pain ! …………………..are you going to threaten me with putting the TV remote in some place again , Rico ?…………………….hahaha

    Night.
