Ten years Arsene, you have to be kidding! Stop Payet, stop the Hammers…..

Morning all.

The mind boggles when reading a story like the one below about Theo Walcott who has reportedly been told by Arsene Wenger that the time has come for him to finally decide on his best position. Ten years he’s been at Arsenal, a period of time which has seen his wages increase to a whopping £140k a week, yet he nor his manager have sorted out what his best position is and stick to it. Had that all been sorted a few years ago, we might now be watching a much better footballer than we do these days.

I’m not defending the Englishman’s lazy approach and half hearted performances but everyone in life needs to know what their job is don’t they? What about the old saying ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’ – well that’s Theo Walcott imo. The last bit I mean…. lol

The problem with Theo is he wants to play on the right and through the middle. You have to fix yourself somewhere.

When he doesn’t go through the middle, he thinks maybe for me it’s better on the right.

It’s true that at some stage I fixed him more through the middle, because of the quality of his runs, the intelligence of his runs, and he has improved a lot his finishing.

I know that he’s a striker — a striker who can play through the middle or on the right as well. You know that he is a striker.

Your’e the manager Arsene, you see him on the training pitch each day, you coach him, so you tell him where to play – surely?

He had good periods in the season. After I think, recently, he has gone through a much more difficult period. But he will come back. He works very hard. He puts the effort in in training. At the moment for him and for [fellow striker] Olivier Giroud, it’s a bit more difficult. But that’s part of the competition.

He understands that as well, and he fights very hard. But in our job things can change very quickly from one week to the next, it can change.

Anyway, it doesn’t look like he or Ollie are in with much of a chance of starting many, if any of our remaining fixtures, not if Danny Welbeck, Alexis Sanchez and Alex Iwobi stay fit and healthy….

Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Serge Gnabry all played for the under 21’s last night which is good for all. Tomas will be seeking a new club in the summer, Jack will want to be playing for England and Serge no doubts has his eye on a summer of rest and a good pre-season with his club. He scored a great goal as Arsenal beat Newcastle 3-1.

Today is the last ever trip to Upton Park, or the Boleyn Ground as it’s know these days as next season West Ham will be playing their matches at the old Olympic Stadium, a ground which will cost them just £15m plus £2.5m in annual rent each season. No wonder Wenger said the Hammers have ‘won the lottery’ with their cheap move as he had to battle through financial hard times when Arsenal moved to The Emirates….. Still, at least it belongs to Arsenal forever…

I’ve always kind of liked West Ham, perhaps that’s because of what they did to the neighbours a few years ago when they were sat in fourth place and fully expecting to be celebrating finishing above us in the league for the first time in donkeys years. Dodgy lasagne they say but I reckon they just got stage fright and couldn’t cope with being so high in the league…..

Arsenal need to win, it’s as simple as that. Then hopefully someone will drop another dodgy meal into the kitchen at WHL before they play tomorrow afternoon…..

Petr Cech should be back between the sticks and both Ramsey and Flamini are back in the squad after injury.

Stop Dimitri Payet from playing and Arsenal will go a long way to stopping West Ham from scoring but it’s going to tough against a side which hasn’t been defeated at home in it’s last thirteen matches…..

COYRRG’S!!

    Hi Rico,
Good post. Theo is on the way to joining the club of players who never quite achieved their full potential. Is it a confidence thing? He appears a little disinterested at times in matches and goes missing when called into action of late.
Maybe he needs a fresh challenge elsewhere. Either way, time is running out.
Worrying news that Flamini is back in the squad…..
We need 3 points today as do the Hammers. I just want to see us set our stall out and play the way they have done away at Everton etc.
Looking forward to a narrow victory.

    Morning Marinello and all..

If I was Theo, I’d leave, regardless of what another club paid me. I still believe that he’d be better off under different coaching staff and a manger who is tough on him…

Flamini might be fit but I doubt he’ll be playing any time soon, hopefully not.

Just hope the boys are up for an early kick off… 😉

  3. Marinello says:

    Rico and everyone else…
I just have always felt that Theo lacks consistency with his performances. A new start at a club with a different coach, maybe West Ham, could be the answer.
West Ham have had a good season and will be no push over, just hope we turn up and come straight out of the traps, no slow starting.
I remember meeting Tony Adams at an Arsenal reserve match when my two sons were very young. Tony was coming back from a broken wrist and played with a cast. They asked him who he supported as a young boy and he said West Ham.

  4. dublingunner says:

Morning, I don,t listen to AW so much these days, the Theo situation means nothing to me anymore, I,ve seen enough to have my own judgement on him, and it,s not good tbh,
We should try cash in this summer before he,s too old, common sense should prevail.

Morata still only 23 is reported to have a 30 million release clause that we might be interested in triggering this summer, i,m sure would certainly bring more to the team than Theo.

  5. dublingunner says:

Would Theo and Ox thrive under a new manager ? that is the question.

Elneny or Iwobi benched today for ramsey would be a travesty.

Having an ickle bet on the Romford Pele today in the national 40/1, Nice.

  6. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Afternoon Boss and Peeps

Same line up today. Even Cech benched.

    Good.

I reckon Theo’s best position is on the bench and on transfer list.

  7. dublingunner says:

A must win game, Think he should,ve started Cech,
Andy Carroll starts, maybe needed Merts in their today for height, Bilic said before the game he picked this team because it was Arsenal.
They know how to play against us, lets not lose this Lads.

  8. Joaquim Moreira says:

wasn’t offside the first not goal for WH
Wasn’t a yellow card. Was a red. 2 sequential faults with intension of injury.
    2 goals in 2 minutes.
Iwobi not well in the first; the defenders not well in both.

  9. Ken says:

Wenger, it is really time to go. You are at a complete loss these days, in your coaching, tactics , insight, gambles, and your complete lies.
I guess you are lying to yourself also.
Theo is a total loss in terms of money paid to him, his lack of movement, lazy attitude, and I do not think he is training as hard as you say. If that was the case we would have seen more of him. Again it is another lie, you are covering him, what for?

  10. Kel says:

I can just see that big donkey Carroll sticking the winner in…having The game of his life…

    I hope I’m wrong.

  11. dublingunner says:

Wow blink and you,ll miss it game. Arsenal’s defensive frailties show themselves again, Rico
West ham get to 2-2, bilic changes tactics, goes 2 up front. They get a third,
Also he started Carroll because he identified a weakness in our team, thats what top managers do,

  12. scottfromoz says:

We had our chance and blew it.
    Season over now.
I figured we could draw one and win the rest, and just about win it.
Can’t see us winning every game from here on in.
No urgency when 2-0 up, 2-1 up or 2-2.
We started playing again at 3-2 down and the subs did make a difference but that only goes so far-players went missing.
Sanchez played well, but seriously, if he’s World Class or even top class, he needs to take a bloody easy opportunity on his left foot.
He had so much time, he was able to take two touches to get back on his right.
    Incredible.
People will blame our backs for the defending-how about stopping the delivery?
How often was the guy crossing the ball under any pressure at all??
Our boys shut up shop at 2-0 and paid the price.
Now, Wtf are these officials watching?
I can seriously find 2 straight reds for Carroll.
That isn’t being bitter or biased, it’s fact.
Studs up from behind is always a red.
An aerial challenge lading with an elbow is always a red.
    The prick cops one yellow.
    That’s all?
Overall, we were brilliant at times, and pathetic at others.
Regardless of poor decisions which did cost us the win, we still didn’t play well enough, under the circumstances.

  13. scottfromoz says:

    Oh and Payet?
    Please!!
He is not a patch on Ozil.
Just because he plays for a “smaller” club, doesn’t make him a better player, but for some reason it boosts his reputation….can’t work that out.
He’s a good PL player, no more.

  14. goonster says:

In arsene we trust 😀 we ll still win the league. Spurs ll drop points tomorrow so ll leceister. Keep the faith. I believe in the lads and wenger 😀 3 more years for him. He deserves it. He built this club remember? We were a relegation fodder type team till he arrived and made us pl champions. He built the Emirates from ground up. The least we can do is show him some respect. Carrying banners is tantamount as stabbing him at the back. He must be dying inside. Poor old arsene. Arsenal fans are a bunch of ungrateful pathetic cnuts. Leave dear old arsene alone. In wenger I trust 😀

  15. Marshall says:

Ain’t we the mighty bottlers! Arsenal is a shame of a club!! Wenger being the centrepiece of the shit pile. What sort of defence reliquinshes a 2-0 lead? Fuck!

    Spoilt my morning. Scum.

  16. Nashua Gunner says:

It the same team that took the lead, but can’t mentain the lead. Why some will blame AW is beyond me. These players are professionals and they should do their jobs.

  17. Marshall says:

I think the system (squad) as a whole is messed up. That match showed how we got fuck amount of mental strength. Can AW be banned from using that word ever again? Nice to see Stan banner up.

On a much sober point, can’t blame Arsene for the loss of this game. Our predictability sucks though. We can’t clear from our box, Long balls are the easiest way to beat us and my, how doesn’t Sanchez have a left foot?

  18. goonster says:

Marshall that’s horseshit. The blame is squarely on him. Dude I mean who sets up his team with midgets knowing west ham has a battering ram upfront? This game was crying out for the BFG but as usual what did we do?? Cech and BFG and maybe we ll be smiling away with 3 points. We always contrive to make shit players look word class.

  19. goonster says:

Ospina has done remarkable lately but sometimes you need to leave sentiments aside and set your team according to the opposition. You don’t need a B.SC in economics to know that. Man alive the incompetence level has gone wild.

  20. Nashua Gunner says:

Today the players were the culprits. Lack of energy and no leader among these bunch. We dominate 2/3 of the first half with two goals. We put them under pressure. No one then complain about the manager’ selection until the team took their eyes off the ball, and start making stupid passes.

  21. Joaquim Moreira says:

How many touch had TW did today? I just remember in the last second in extra time: a cross (?) or a shot (?) or none of them.
How many goals had AC scored against us? Newcastle, WH…
This remind me an important point: against strong teams and strongs and higher forwards, we were always had defeats or at the minimum, we were lowers.
Moreover, we were very bad in “derbys”: chelsea 2 lost; Totts, 2 drew; WH onde defeat and one drew; well, CP and Watford…3 wins…

  22. goonster says:

Nasher I get you but the fact remains we lost to Carroll and not west ham. Put per on that lumbering piece of shit and the outcome may have been different.

  23. Nashua Gunner says:

Goonster. With AW, damn if you do, damn if you don’t. We all know Per lack pace. If Per were in the lineup and they beat him with pace, we will still be complaining

  24. goonster says:

Nasher Their game plan from the onset was to lob the balls to Carroll hoping he ll knock it down to payet or lanzini. When that didn’t work they reverted to type. Crossing dangerous balls into the area. No pace whatsoever is needed when defending crosses. The loss was down to the manager. We were 2 up and he still kept them attacking in droves 8 minus till half time. Who does that? You play keep ball. Pass it around till the whistle goes. Come in second half, keep it tight and look to rip them apart on the counter. It’s not rocket science!

  25. goonster says:

We ve looked good the past 3 games because he’s playing in form players. Even though we drew I saw positives from the game. Our players aren’t shit….our manager is. Set your team according to the opposition. It’s FUCKING easy. Do the basics and no one ll insult you or want you out. FUCKING clueless French clown!!!

  26. goonster says:

Really JM are you going?? Wow lucky bastard 😀 I hope to see them play someday. I love benfica 😀

  27. goonster says:

Conte pep mourinho klopp and poch….that’s whom we vying for the title next season against. I didn’t even mention Ranieri bilic and koeman who ll likely take points off us. And yet you all still think the problem is the players!!! Very funny.

  28. goonster says:

My points is you answered the question. We made Carroll look like lewandowski!!! How can you condole a manager that has a man mountain in per who can neutralize Carroll yet we set up with Gabriel and kozzer?? When we re faced with pacy forwards like aguero et al play Gabriel. Per was right for this game. 9 out of 10 he would have won those headers before the ball got to Carroll!

  29. rico says:

I’m not condoning Wenger for anything but considering the defence unit and the players ahead of them kept Lukaku quiet just a few weeks ago, how can the blame suddenly be lumped on AW??

  30. goonster says:

Conceding the first goal would have been an eye opener for the fraud but what did he do?? Stand on the sidelines looking every inch the dick he is. I said it a month ago. Let’s all root for leceister. Hopefully the spuds drop some points against manure and leceister thonks Sunderland to increase their lead on the top. They deserve it. A less talented club winning the league should really put things into perspective but not when 60 per cent still thinks wenger is the way forward. Come on leceister.

  31. goonster says:

Lukaku is not a beast in the air yes he scores his fair share of headers but his game isn’t built on headed goals, Carroll is!!!

  32. dublingunner says:

Evening, I did say before kick off, Cech and Merts were needed, when Bilic started with Carroll and I,ll stick by it.
Bilic identified a weakness in our team, and that was our lack of defensive aerial cover, he said it himself.
In that respect AW has to take some of the blame as he should,ve change tactics based on the team we were playing. We are very predictable.
But equally the players need to take the blame.

  33. goonster says:

Rico how did we concede the second? How many players were in our box when the cross came in?? Carroll was all alone at the back post with bellerin as his marker?? Christ in heaven we just conceded a minute ago. Should we be going gung-ho??? Do you not watch other top class managers how they set up their teams? Go and read pep’s book. You ll see how inept this old geezer is.

  34. goonster says:

What the heck is he supposed to do?? Are you kidding me?? He earns 8.5 a year. We just let in a goal and you re asking what he’s meant to do?? God give me strength. That’s why we ll never win any major trophy ever again with this cnut in charge. What was he supposed to do she asks???

  35. goonster says:

I ve seen maureen hurl out khaled boularouz(spelling) after 5 minutes when it’s obvious he’s not doing what he sent him in to do and mind you boularouz was a substitute! What is is suppose to do she asks??

  36. goonster says:

8 or 9 years ago chelsea were 2.1 down with 10 minutes to go. Maureen made a double substitution they went 3.2 up and he substituted one of the guys he just sent in to win the game. I hate that turd face bastard but he’s a winner and has the cojones to do what is required at the right time not stand on the sidelines looking like a freshly baked turd.

  37. goonster says:

What’s he supposed to do she asks? And you wonder why we haven’t progressed in 10 years. So sad.

  38. goonster says:

Plus lukaku is not 9 foot tall maam!!! Did you see Carroll standing next to kozzer? ? Let alone bellerin. We handled lukaku well because he’s not as big and strong as Carroll. How many times did lukaku bully kozzer or Gabriel? We lost to a youthful manure side that almost every team have taken points off. What other evidence do you need maam??

  39. goonster says:

Lack of pace in a game where we had them on the back foot?? Jesus Christ in heaven. Rico we were 2.0 with less than 8 minutes to go!!! Are you freaking kidding me??? Football manager??? Really??? I give up.

  40. andrewh1313 says:

Hindsights a wonderful thing. But did worry before kick off soon as heard Caroll playing. I’ve had it with football, going to calm down and watch some golf. Even if I have wasted £10 on Day, Casey and Rose!

  41. Kel says:

He means until half time… hoddle called it 15 mins before Carroll scored he said bellerin was picking up Carroll at the back post and it was a miss match.

Sanchez wasn’t tracking back to help stop the crosses that were becoming more frequent a tactically astute manager would have seen that imo… but hey that’s just how I see it.

As I said a few wks ago I’m fully behind Leicester as Arsenal are not capable of mounting a challenge we’ll win a game or two and then buckle as usual a very soft underbelly for about a decade now.

  42. allezkev says:

Love Arsenal – Hate Kroenke banner at Upton Park and now it’s trending ( is that the right phrase?) on Twitter…

  43. Marshall says:

There are other factors besides Per coming in. For instance in for the first goal we conceded Coq lost the ball, he didn’t bother to retrieve it, it goes down to our right side and AS is awol whoever sent the cross had all the space and time to do it. It’s a collective team problem. I freaking despise the manager but he picked a winning side, n they were winning till they relaxed after going up.

  44. Micko says:

Kev, snap out of it mate, I’m sure Wath will borrow you his “Good Old Days” box-set if you ask him nicely !

  45. Micko says:

Scott, same shit every day eh !
If the same shit signs a new contract we’ll be stuck with the same ole shit for the next 3 years,
Quiet on here, might have something to do with Arsene numbing us all to death, as the old saying goes when your deep in the shit look straight ahead and keep your mouth shut ! Gotta luv Mr Arsenal.

  46. Micko says:

Full of this, full of that, full of shit and full of crap, not you Scott but dear ole Arsene imho of course !

    Nite all.

  47. Intolerant Kev says:

Morning Rico, I missed the Voice, just saw the last couple of minutes.
A guy called Kev won it, so it must have been a classic… ?

Morning Adam, it’s beautiful and sunny in SE London…

  48. Wavy says:

I lost my voice yesterday lunch time, shouting at the television. Still another weekend another point. We should be grateful that we have the tactically astute Wenger as the custodian of all our hopes and dreams! We could after all, be supporters of Aston Villa, for example. Let’s hear it for Arene, a hero out of time!
Still, there’s always next week. I wonder what innovative, new tricks he has up his puffer jacket sleeves, that he will bamboozle us all with in his pursuit of the EPL. It’s never over till it’s over, apparently.

Lovely day here. Not a cloud in the firmament, actually I lie, there is one, just one! Hey ho.

  49. rico says:

🙂 Adam, what a difference the sun makes eh….

Wavy, I blame the players for yesterday, they switched off at 2-0 up and thought the game was won….

  50. Adam says:

    Rico. It really does.
Nobody should be surprised about yesterday.
I’m not. Apathy is one of the least productive emotions but I am filled with it.
