Striker & Defender out! Wenger wants the next Invincibles & Jenks back in training………

I know this will shock you but I am so happy to see this guy back in training…

We need all the Gooners we can get....

Seriously, I watch us and like many other fans I think what this current side miss is players like Jack Wilshere, Carl Jenkinson, Henri Lansbury, Frimpong and any other true Gooner in our ranks….

When we lose, those players hurt the same as we all do, and that’s because they are Arsenal fans, as well as Arsenal players! They will fight tooth and nail until the end, because they are proud of that red and white shirt they wear.

We need players like Jenks…… We need more like Jenks……

Anyway…..

To achieve a Champions League spot this season, Arsene Wenger believes that we now need to go on an unbeaten run until the end of the season, starting today of course, at home to Blackburn.

He wants to see this current squad do what our boys did back in 2004, but just for four months.

Ideally you want to be unbeaten. Is it possible? I think to prove that it is possible is just to win on Saturday.

Of course he is right to a degree, we do need to be unbeaten but what we can’t afford to do is to draw too many games either – we need to be winning, especially our home games!

Blackburn – another side near the bottom of the league who have their own problems and they have not been to dissimilar to ours have they? The fans are restless, they have made it very clear they want Steve Kean gone and they have not been happy with results.

Most of our fans are not happy with the results, we are not happy seeing the Spuds ahead of us and we are certainly not happy seeing us 7th in the Premier League either!

There are just five points between us and 4th spot, and if we can get back to winning ways, that points difference could be overcome.

Ok, Liverpool and Newcastle seem to be in good form but they, like us, always seem to be able to drop points when it matters, all we need to do is finally wake up and realise that if we don’t change our ways, we are looking at not only finishing outside the top four but possibly, outside the Europa places too.

News about Blackburn: Chris Samba will not be in their squad following his antics in the transfer window and Yakubu is suspended so he won’t feature either. Godwillie is also missing as he is suffering with ‘Man Flu’.

Arsenal – well, after all Wenger has said about wanting a win today, he has suggested he will rotate the squad:

A little bit yes because we gave a lot on Sunday against Villa and gave a lot against Bolton on Wednesday. I am thinking about it at the moment, yes.

Well, rotation is hardly likely to kick-start the new Invincibles is it?? No, they came about because they were used to playing together week in week out….

Rest Robin, now that is wise Arsene…..

We need three points today, and with The Yak and Samba out, we’ll never get a better chance…

Talking of chances, it’s about time we started taking ours!

I’ll leave on a positive note…..

He was training yesterday, he's obviously fit.....

That has got to be good news…..

Have a good day all…….

    Morning all, kick-off soon 😉

If we can’t beat BB who have two of their better players missing then we are doomed. Wenger wants us to go on a long winning run, he needs to make sure we do…

Wenger has come out with a classic, we are better than liverpool as they haven’t won the league since 1990 and he doesn’t look at the league table.

It’s january and we are 7th, that can happen he says – er, it’s February Arsene 🙂

  2. stevepalmer1 says:

    Morning Rico,
I would like to say what an inspirational post, at a time when we really need it. But with news like that a very hard thing to do.
“Rotation in the squad” How that helps us go on an unbeaten run has lost somthing in translation. Rest Robin Van Persie what a good idea that would be, the only player in the squad that has any idea where the goal is Rested, Now that shows comitment. Blackburn will have to score a couple of own goals, or give away a couple of penalties, but have we got anybody in the team that can take them, after all it is from 12 yards and who can get a ball on target from that distance. We know the Ox will be substituted as soon as he shows any threat. Arshavin the ice man will be itching to get on, he feels that the law of averages must start swinging for him, he must have one good game in two years ready to come out and thrill. I can hardly wait.

  3. rico says:

Morning steve, thanks re the post, bet you are happy about Jenks too?

I don’t get this rotation thing and certainly not with RvP, for all the reasons you point out…

AA – if he plays, i think i’ll need the AA 😉

  4. rico says:

Hi Wasiu – at least we know it won’t be Chamakh, maybe Henry will get his start and RvP on the bench?

Tbh, i’d start with Henry, RVP and Ox if AW sticks with his stupid 433…

  5. rico says:

Good question steve, i wouldn’t be surprised to see him start if RvP is to be rested, Henry can’t play 90 mins at his age 😉

G4E – i think they could get a rest today if Wenger is on a rotation mission..

  6. stevepalmer1 says:

This is the time when i admire Harry Redknapps Training Theory with Ledley King No training and he turns up and Plays after being well rested. or is that too easy.

  7. Bendtnersgone says:

Morning all, good post Rico, nice and positive. I’ve been feeling way too negative lately. It’s up to the lads to pick us up. It was at least a cracking comeback against Villa so there is something there.

  8. Victor says:

    In defense Arsenal could have just bought these 5 people;
Chris Samba,Baines,Jagielka,Subotic and Michel Bastos and Jesus NAVAS

  9. rico says:

Morning Bg, its hard to be positive these days, i thought after the Villa game we were really going to push on but no, another useless display in front of goal in the week…..

We need a top performance today and a convincing win…

    Dissapointed its not on TV…

  10. Marinello says:

Hi Rico, Steve and everyone else.
If RVP is rested, I would give Walcott a go down the middle. He’s always said that this is his preferred position…
Can always bring TH on for the last 30 mins. Arshavin might fancy 15 minutes at the end!
I agree with the comment about playing the likes of Frimpong, Jenks and Lansbury. You will always get another 50% from players who are fans at heart. I remember Charlie George bing asked what would he be doing on a Saturday afternoon if he wasn’t playing. He answered “Standing on the Northbank with my mates supporting the Arsenal.”
I fancy a 2-1 win for us today. No clean sheet though.

  11. latissimusbaby says:

    weldone guys
    Welldone guys.
as much as i wld love to see him play at the heart of attack, in recent times except for aston villa match i dnt see that happening.
Mayb park will have his chance, only and only if rvp is rested.
    Keeping my fingers crossed.
    Gunners till I die.

  12. gunnerpete says:

At last…someone who, like me, can only see The Arsenal I have followed for 63 years now, getting some pride back by buying and playing Uk kids who love the club. I am sick and tired of watching foreign players just accept defeat after being in front or in the final couple of minutes. I am also sick of people raving about Sagna as though he is in Laurens league..never. He cannot cross a ball even when there is no full back there. He was responsible as the ref in us losing tom Blackburn & Spuds etc. Getting jenkinson back will be the first real AFC player back for a long time. Now we need Jack another UK kid who will fight for 90 mins. Arsene today has accepted that we are not good enough to win a raffle so he produces the next and only challenge open to our great club..stay unbeaten for the rest of the season…yeah right with this lot? That would mean we win the FA cup & Champs Cup…again Yeah right!
Mind you i was so glad to see Jet & Freeman scoring goals whilst the mighty Park and Chamkh the made room for are shocking failures on high wages? Do I sound pixxed off…?

  13. rico says:

    Morning Marinello

Charlie, what a guy, started as a fan, onto playing and will always be a fan…..

We sure lack that kind of spirit, i think thats why we miss jack so much…

Love to Theo start down the middle and one day Wenger has to give him his chance…

  14. Scott from Oz says:

    Rico,its hard being positive,no doubt.
That’s my problem though……too many Gooners want to take the easy way out and be negative!
Tell me this guys………what does being negative achieve?
    The board won’t listen.
Depending on who you believe,Wenger either can’t or won’t listen.
The players…..our heart and soul……simply can not respond well.
    Where does it get us???
Other than a feeling of self worth and importance, having others agreeing with our opinions,we get absolutely no value at all in projecting our negative thoughts about the club we supposedly love and support.
Rico……..I may be drunk, but I feel the basis of an article coming on!!!!!!!!!!!
    All those in favour……

  15. rico says:

Welcome latissimusbaby – Park was bought to sell shirts, will we ever get to see him start?? I doubt it, although i hope he does at ome stage but today is not the day… imho…

Hi pete – we have been saying that here for a while, we need players who care but they don’t always have to be english, just look at a few we have had in the past…

But, I do think that is what we need to get us out of this mess, players who think ‘over my dead body’ – especially at the back…

I really rate sagna, he has to be one of the best rb’s in the PL but i love Jenks too, his attitude is spot on, you could see that when he scored that horrid own goal, i thought he was going to cry, that’s how much he cares….

In time, he’d make a great CH imho….

  16. Daniel says:

I don’t understand why gooners fans are always negative to every thing, they are always challengine the manager and they are themself coaches to make thr line up. this is unfair no to wenger but to arsenal and player.

Sometinmes try to be positive patient and wait fro the result supporting the tim, If our fellow fans in London are not positive better stay at home than going in the pitch just to disappoint our fighter.

Winning is a results of high spiited fans and players. Actually those whi have played football wil agree with me that fan high spirited mood and lovely cheer catalyses player mood.

Let us try my friends. It will be difficult to our team to get best players in the comming summer transfer even if they would liked to join because of our endless anger. many need support from their fun to stimulate their spirit let us support them please.

  17. rico says:

    Hi Scott..

I don’t see it as being negative, it’s about not having my head in the sand and believing all is rosy when clearly it is not and we all have our own views on why its going so wrong.

Having watched us waste chance after chance against Bolton, one can only hope that the goals start to come, watching us concede such lazy sloppy goals against Villa one can only hope that the mistakes cease…

    Will those things change?

Who knows, but i don’t hold out much hope – it’s been going on for so long, but i do love to be proved wrong…

As for the post, I ook forward to it… 🙂

  18. Scott from Oz says:

    Gunnerpete……knocking Sagna is crazy.
He is a defender, first and foremost.
People will tell you our weakness is defence….I say its our finishing.
Either way,Sagna is the last player to blame!!!!!

  19. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Good morning
RVP rest? Walcott play on the middle? I’m not agree…
Put Park. However, without Gervinho and Chamack why we rotate in front?
We must do it in the midfield…
I’m going for a walk shortly after did my jogging in the early morning (cold :-))
    Six nations today!

  20. Matt-j says:

Sup rico only me again lol…. Another good post, don’t you think now it’s about time wenger give park a good go? We brought him this summer and he expires in two years to do military service, so shouldn’t we b using the most outta him?

  21. Scott from Oz says:

Rico,I know what you’re saying, but I will continue looking for positives as I believe its the best way to help the team.
If you were a player and read negative comments from fans, how would it affect your performance?????
Their pride must be hurt when they hear and read nearly nothing but insulting and derogatory comments about their efforts……..certain players aside,of course.

  22. Marinello says:

Although some of Blackburns fans may not be behind the Manager Kean, some of the players have come out in his defence and say that he has not lost the dressing room. Todays game will be interesting, to say the least. If the Arse cannot break down the Blackburn defence, I just for once, would like to see a tactical answer to this by Wenger, not just by substituting like for like.

  23. rico says:

    What positives are there Scott?

If i played and read honest comments, id have the right attitude, the ‘i’ll show you you b******s’ – i wouldn’t sit and boo over it…

And a defence without their big man Marinello…..

  24. DutchGooner10 says:

    Morning fellow Gooners,

Rico great post, good points on getting the extra mileage from thoroughbred youngsters. To be fair my Arsenal head rush comes mostly from the prospects that will occupy the tunnel in the upcoming seasons. With a few extra marque additions I see heydays return from their grave.

But today many fans and media a like will determine the value of the squad. Scrapheap Challenge, Toothless Tigers or Game Over. I have us eating our own words all day but surely that won’t happen before a extended run can be penned down. Relief over the result is a achievement in it’s own right today. Another fighting chance revival. Which I believe is the bare minimum fans allow the board/manager to harvest from a win.

    COYG

  25. Micko says:

    Morning all,
RVP loves playing against Blackburn, always scores, he’s gotta start.

GunnerPete, Lauren and Sagna, both great right backs and both hard as nails.

I’m going for a 3 nil win today, we may be average but Blackburn are very poor.

Scott, Almunia has been taking stick from the fans for the last 2 years now, he doesn’t seem too bothered by it otherwise he would have put in a transfer request or moved back to Spain by now, I reckon the 50 odd grand he pockets every week may have a lot to do with it, where’s his pride.

  26. rico says:

Hi Matt, good to see you back..

Park should have played by now, not sure playing him when the pressure is really on would be such a good idea – the days of getting 3/4 goals up and then bring him off the bench seem to be long gone..

Then Chamakh is on his way back so i just don’t see him getting a game until Henry return to the USA…

  27. rico says:

Morning DG, thanks and yes, we do have a few more gooners coming through, we just need wenger to keep them which i think he will now, jeez, he’s even started buying british 😉

Morning Micko, 3-0 – that’s a brave shout 😉 Tbh though that is exactly the kind of scoreline we should be getting, we should have had that in the week, if not more, today the whole of the afc world need a huge win….

Guess its spot the bin bag today?? 😉

  28. Scott from Oz says:

Ok fine, let’s change the name of this site to anti-Arsenal.
Rico,if you’re serious about running this site, then you should acknowledge Szczesney,Koscielny,Sagna,Ox,RVP,Jenkinson,Frimpong,Coquelin,Yennaris,Vermaelen……..seriously,can’t you find any positives in that lot????????

  29. rico says:

I am not changing this site name to anything thank you Scott!!

You know exactly what i am on about when i say about nothing positive right now, i am on about sitting 7th, a manager who refuses to address our needs, a board who appear not to be putting any pressure on Wenger to sort things out, the Totts sitting above us, no CL qualification next season, not being able to score, leaking stupid goals!!

Do i really need to go on??

  30. rico says:

Whats the ‘serious about running this site’ question about, its been going for 18 months and doing just fine thank you!

  31. Scott from Oz says:

Micko, some of you love sticking it to our own players……tell me what Almunia has done wrong and how many games hes cost us this season.
    Don’t split hairs when answering,please.
My point is you all want to look at the bad points.
Did he cost us 20 million like De Gea????

  32. stevepalmer1 says:

The only positive i saw out of your coment Scott was how you left out Arshavin Chamakh Squillaki and Djourou

  33. rico says:

Look at what Almunia has cost us in the past, that’s why he doesn’t play Scott, he is a liabilty – doesn’t matter how much he cost, he was still our so called number one keeper and he cost us in nearly every game he played…

One good first half against Barca won’t convince me….

I totally understand what Micko is syaing, if he cared about his game, he wouldn’t just sit around taking his pay cheque, he’d have left us ages ago and earned his money….

We could use what we pay him to be paying a player who actually contributes to the side…

  34. Scott from Oz says:

Yes Rico, you do need to go on.
    You asked “what positives”.
    I answered.
You obviously think Ox i no good….I thinks he’s a MASSIVE positive .
You had your chance to give him a wrap but ignored it in favour of the negatives.
Sorry if you think I’m an optimist, but I think too many refuse to see the good points.
The club hasn’t sold its soul like Citeh and Chelski have.
We don’t owe hundreds of millions like Barca and Real do.
We havent wasted 35,50 million on Carroll or Torres.
We have some great kids coming through.
    No positives there……seriously?????

  35. Scott from Oz says:

    Steve,what a surprise……..ignore what I DID write,add in what I DIDNT,and run with that.
The only positive thing ive seen from you was blamed on vodka……maybe all Gooners should take a shot lol.

  36. Micko says:

Scott, we have a few players in the same boat as Almunia and to answer your question, no, he’s probably cost us more than 20 million with his royal cock up’s over the last few years.

  37. stevepalmer1 says:

Positives come from good Manager decisions on the pitch, substitutions when a problem is evident taking the Ox off and replacing with Arshavin is not a good positive move not just me thought that but sixty thousand did

  38. rico says:

I am on about the here and now, the results and the situation we are in, not once have i knocked the majority of our players, only the crap ones…

You have your own views and i have mine but as far as things look right now, my head will remain out of the sand…

As for the Vodka comment, didn’t your first comment of the day suggest you had had one too many – maybe we should follow your example then we could all believe everthing is so so rosy 😉

  39. stevepalmer1 says:

can anyone explain to me why Walcott and the Ox keep switching wings, if its a tactical reason why dont our full backs and midfielders do it to

  40. DutchGooner10 says:

    Scott

Stop putting your foot in everyone’s mouth. You this, you that is swinging your handbag at the mutual respect on HH. It’s getting tiresome to read damage control comments on your behalf.

This site isn’t anyone’s center stage to preform a Magnum Opus. Drop the drama queen.

  41. stevepalmer1 says:

Scott tell the truth son you only come on this site to wind up gooners you must be a spud on the wind up and i was just taking a liking to you. Tell me Scott are you getting the same broadcasts that we get.

  42. rico says:

It’s tactical steve, we used to do the same when we had Freddie and Sir Bobby, they would always pop up anywhere and it served us well – i was quite shocked when Theo and The Ox started switching, didn’t know Wenger had it in him these days 😉

Not sure i’d like to see Sagna and TV do the same though 😉

  43. Marinello says:

Very eloquently answered DutchGooner10. At the end of the day, we are all entitled to our opinions but there is no point in getting all bitter and twisted and coming across in what could be viewed, in an aggressive way.

  44. Scott from Oz says:

Rico,I believe my comments maintain a similar line of thinking, alcohol affected or not….Steve’s dont, but my comment was quite obviously tongue in cheek.
You incorrectly suggest I see nothing wrong with the club……READ MY COMMENTS OVER THE LAST,FEW DAYS,YOU MAY FIND THE TRUTH.
The only difference between me an most Gooners is I AM a realist…..I see good AND bad in the club.
You fans proposing to be realists see ONLY the bad……its impossible for there to be no good in this club.

  45. rico says:

Spot on Marinello and thats not the way HH is run, there are plenty of sites out there if bloggers want to argue and be brave sat behind a computer screen, but not this one…..

    🙂 steve…

  46. rico says:

Scott – is it your mission each day to come on here and try to provoke?

If it is, then may I suggest you log onto a different afc blog and leave your views there, you are starting to irritate bloggers – you split hairs over every comment made……

We don’t see only bad, and had you read HH each day you would realise, we can only look at the present and it’s not good where we are right now….

  47. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Hi!
Team in full: Szczesny, Coquelin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Song, Arteta, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Van Persie (c).

Substitutes: Fabianski, Sagna, Arshavin, Benayoun, Ramsey, Park, Henry.
Portugal is playing rugby in Roumania. The pitch is completely cover by snow!
I’m preparing to watch Arsenal on tv
    Catch you later

  48. rico says:

DG, you do have a wonderful way with words… 🙂

Phew – Coq at right back, and JD is not even on the bench….

  49. devilgunner says:

Good morning guys and chicks of the Gunners’ Faithl

Team: Szczesny, Coquelin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Vermaelen, Song, Arteta, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, Van Persie (c).

Substitutes: Fabianski, Sagna, Arshavin, Benayoun, Ramsey, Park, Henry.

  50. Scott from Oz says:

    Marinello,you’re a bloody hypocrite.
Accuse me of being Wenger, then comment on people being bitter and twisted????
When have I ever directed a comment towards you???
DG…damage control..WTF are you talking about???
Steve,,,,a spud….I’m the ONE person on here defending Arsenal, and you ask a smart arse question like that???
Seriously, how many of you will watch today’s game thinking anything but what’s going to go wrong?????
How do you raise the effort to watch?
When will you realise its just a game…..something to watch and enjoy.
    Something to entertained by.
    Just a game.
I’m the one accused of being too aggressive???
    Get over yourselves.

  51. rico says:

    Morning devil

Thankfully not too many changes eh 😉

    Who mentioned rotation 😉

Just realised. Sagna not starting, i’d forotten he was back 😳

  52. stevepalmer1 says:

Got to be honest with you Scott, we all love the club and we all want to see the positives, and your right we have got some very good players, sadly a lot of good players have been injured, the positives is that they are getting their fitness back but the negatives are that we may not see Jack this season and we haven;t replaced Cesc with another cesc, Ramsey is doing his best the same with Arteta but cesc and Nas are a hard act to follow, supporters have seen players outside that may have been able to fill their spots but the negative is Wenger won’t spend when its obvious we need too. at the moment the negatives outweigh the positives but a good win today will certainly lift our spirits “Vodka”

  53. Scott from Oz says:

Again Rico, you are guilty of taking sides and ignoring the truth.
This came up a few days ago,and you admitted fault.
Be fair…..its all i have asked, but it seems too difficult.
    Read.comments made about me,and explain why they’re allowed. I’m a spud,a toerag,Wenger in disguise,delusional……..you’ve allowed these comments,encouraged them even,so now compare them to what I’ve said.
    Ban me if you like.
Your call, but I will keep defending the club.

  54. Marinello says:

No JD, well that’s brightened my day.
So good to see the Ox starting. The more games that he gets under his belt, the more confident and also more relaxed he’ll become.
I have a good feeling about this game and expect Arsenal to get the 3 points.

  55. rico says:

No, not today Scott, and the other day i said i missed your irony, that is all, don’t twist things!

We all love the club, and will defend it to the hills to any other but the whole idea of blogging is to discuss things, accept others point of view. just as we are with yours, there comes a point when we have to agree to differ but your charming comments about changing the blog name, questioning the seriousness of HH etc…. just show that you really do seem to enjoy winding people up and as i said, if that is your objective, go somewhere else and do it….

  56. Scott from Oz says:

Steve,I am not sure how many times i must say it………the club is by no means perfect and i know that.
Wenger has made plenty of mistakes and i know that, too.
My two points are why so many fans can’t see any positives at all,and why people can insult me without a problem, yet I can not say boo!!!
Look at my posts and if anyone can say they truly think I am agreeing that everything is going great with the club, then I am speaking a different language.

  57. rico says:

What JD steve, he can rest for the remainder of the season as far as i am concerned 😉

Hope you are right Marinello, Ox to get two goals today and Walcott to get another 😛

  58. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, don’t try and tell me people are accepting my views!!!
People are only accepting when views align with their own.
    DG……why be a smart arse??

  59. rico says:

We all accept that your choice is to look at the positives, which you rightly point out is the players we have… that’s about it really….

Take the better players out of the view and theres not a lot left to be positive about is there….

  60. Marinello says:

    Hi Scott,
It would appear that my humerous comment about “Are you Wenger in Disguise” has been misunderstood. I apologise if I offended you, it was never my intention. It was just a bit of fun.
We all care about Arsenal, and what is good about HH, is the fact that all contributors have Arsenal FC in their hearts, may not always agree with each other, but at the end of the day, only want the best for the Club.
We are never all going to agree about what is our best line up, which players should be bought or sold, etc etc. But I did find some of your comments to Rico somewhat curt.
As the saying goes, “if you do not like the ingredients in the cake, go bake your own.”

  61. devilgunner says:

Listen Scott….can you kindly open your own blog. Be positive about it….you are capable of it. No one asked you to come here and no one will ask you to go off.

Believe in yourself…….open your own blog and you can dictate what we can say….and be fair about it.

  62. Scott from Oz says:

    Fair enough,Marinello.
My problem is if I make an obvious attempt at humour,I incur the wrath of certain people, yet everyone seems to be able to have a free go at me.
    Anyway,your comments are appreciated.
    3-0 today?????

  63. Scott from Oz says:

DG….I would never dictate what anyone says.
If you cant see any discrepancy in how my comments are treated, then youre kidding yourself.
    You guys are too insular.
I must respect all of you,but my comments can be treated with contempt.

  64. stevepalmer1 says:

Been trying for a link Rico filled in a form the only thing i’m getting is loads of txt messages and no link

  65. Rokabox says:

scott is definately a spud in disguise.
the game is on nova sports 1 & sky supercalcio if you have dreambox of course!
    afternoon all.

  66. devilgunner says:

and that is the 2nd time that Pedersen has scored a direct freekick against us in the last 4 years.

    1-1

  67. devilgunner says:

    2-1…..RVP from a Theo assist

However the team is too stretched between the defence and midfield. Again could have put a five a side pitch between the two departments. Its the open spaces which are leaving me concerned. Its like 4-1-2-3 when we attack. Granted we do not have two proper fullbacks who help the midfield but its not enough reason.

    THE OX 3-1

  68. Scott from Oz says:

DG…..that’s why I give the back 4 more latitude than most.
They quite often get very, very little help from those further up the field.

  69. devilgunner says:

    Two footed tackle
    Both feet off the ground
    Studs showing

    THAT IS A STRAIGHT RED

However Givet is an honest player…..he went to apologize to AW. And that absolves him from being a dirty player.

  70. Marinello says:

    Any black bags?
I remember in the 60’s when Billy Wright was Manager. Nice man, a former England Captain, but never a great Manager. Many fans started to arrange demonstrations outside the old ground and finally Billy resigned to become Head of Sport for ITV. Bertie Mee was promoted from Physio to Manager alongside Don Howe as coach. Wright as Manager took the brunt of the fans acidic abuse, but the Board were just as much to blame then as they are now.
We had Dennis Hill Wood at the helm, and controlling the purse strings….
My point is that as a Manager one can experience huge highs and lows, success and failure. But I never feel sorry for Managers who are sacked in the modern game, they command huge salaries, existing contracts are normally paid up and they join the small band of Managers, whose names are linked to all vacant Manager jobs.
If we in our jobs are deemed a failure, we are lucky to get a months notice and join the growing ranks of the unemployed.

  71. Scott from Oz says:

    Devil,yep……forgive him one mistake.
Geez, they can go horribly wrong though.
What’s the problem with you guys getting a live telecast?????

  72. rico says:

Marinello – exactly, and ours gets quite a nice tidy salary doesn’t he but someone clutching on the purse strings did it again in january…..

can’t see any bin bags yet….

  73. agirlagunner says:

We’re from all over the world, Scott. 😉 We have a very multicultural home here. 🙂

rico, at least we’re winning. Too often we watch live feeds, and we’re rubbish. Hah. 🙂

    Hello, all. 🙂

  74. Marinello says:

Let’s hope that this can be be the start of a good run Rico, get some confidence flowing through the side and together, put some much needed points on the board.
About time Theo put in a full shift!
Steve, keep the dry humour coming….

  75. stevepalmer1 says:

My Mrs just came down the stairs she knows i’m struggling for a link and she says”you wanna come upstairs for a bit of fun” i said Why have you got a link up there , and then she hit me 🙂

  76. agirlagunner says:

I’m good. Just came from a lovely wedding; we rushed home to catch the match, turns out it wasn’t on. Where would we be without Robin??

  77. Scott from Oz says:

Agag,I’m in Australia and every single league game is shown live.
I took it for granted that those in England would get the same thing.

  78. rico says:

Can’t you go back to the wedding agag 😉

Not so bad today though, three different goal scorers 🙂

And the fans start making some noise 😉

  79. allezkev says:

    Quite chilly Rico.

Gotta say i’m enjoying Scott’s contribution.

    Very spikey.
    Very Australian.
    Certainly encourage’s debate.

  80. agirlagunner says:

Boo, AK. How are ya? 🙂 Steve, you’re cheeky and won’t be getting any after that quip! 😛

I’m in Manila, Scott. We have bloggers from the Netherlands, India, Kenya, Ireland, Portugal…

  81. Scott from Oz says:

AK,are you trying to get booted off lol???
    Agag,fair enough.
Just seems incredible to me the English struggle to watch it.

  82. stevepalmer1 says:

Hi Agag Hope your well, never got my invite, but i’m sure you will be happy. At least you will have a Good night 🙂

  83. rico says:

At least we were already 3-1 up against 11 though alan, otherwise you know the paps would love to belittle this result…

    my link has crashed 🙁

  84. agirlagunner says:

    It wasn’t my wedding, Steve. 😛 I

Just my luck, I miss a match, and the Ox is brilliant. Can’t complain though.

    Hi, alan. 🙂

  85. Scott from Oz says:

    Can we get 8????
AK….I am enjoying watching our next world class player tearing a side apart…….18 years old,its bloody scary.

  86. rico says:

Ten men of West Ham have beaten Milwall and i have friends for dinner, one is a Milwall fan, he won’t be happy 😉

  87. Scott from Oz says:

A mate just asked could Liverpool(his club) have Ox for 180 million……….figures he’s worth five times as much as Carroll!!!!

  88. Marinello says:

    Alan B’stard MP.
Wenger always says that it is more difficult to play against 10 men than 11. Do you think the opposing Managers think the same when Arshavin plays…….

  89. DutchGooner10 says:

I know the first 11 are in need of a headrush but shouldn’t Park get a chance to prove his worth??

  90. allezkev says:

Scott, correct me if i am wrong.

Is this the first time you have been on here during a game?

    And even if it isn’t.
You are now designated ‘Lucky Scott’.
Therefore you are required to join us on here on match~days from now on! 🙂

  91. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, even my mate said he’s undervalued Ox lol.
Liverpool are rumoured to be ready to offer us a swap deal…..Carroll plus ten million for Almunia.

  92. agirlagunner says:

Come on AFC, goals in the double digits! Our fourth place may well come down to goal difference. Wait, let me revise that statement… Doesn’t matter, we’ll win the Champions League!

    steve, haha. Got ya! 😀

  93. rico says:

Agree there DG – this was the ideal time for him to come on, he may have got a goal and his afc career could have begun – bizzarre….

  94. rico says:

tnh alan, i wouldn’t mind him up front but his attitude stinks and he’s another one who likes to keep in touch with the law… but for all the wrong reasons….

  95. alan b'stard M P says:

    Shots
    17 3
    On target
    9 3

    Makes a big difference.

We have most of the goals we lost in that Man U game back

  96. rico says:

We could just do with a couple more to catch up with the chavs goal difference, just in case….

need manure to batter the chavs tomorrow….

  97. rico says:

Park was bought to sell shirts, just like Inamoto was years ago – Wenger can’t have given up on him, he can’t give up on something he hasn’t tried…

  98. alan b'stard M P says:

Scott, difference is today, we are actually not hitting the woodworkn or missing altogether

    We are scoring

  99. Scott from Oz says:

Alan,Carroll needs a side that bangs it long…..he was never, ever going to fit in at Liverpool.
    Stoke…….perfect fit for him.

  100. allezkev says:

Scott, i can only imagine that Park was signed as a punt, when Joel Campbell failed to get his work permit.
Either that, or, he really was a signing made to boost merchandise sales in SE Asia and the clubs profile..?

  101. Scott from Oz says:

    Alan,exactly my point.
It’s also the reason I didnt lose all heart with that result…..we actually created more chances than Utd,so didn’t play nearly as badly as the score indicated.
    Go the KING!!!!

  102. Scott from Oz says:

    Ak…..can’t disagree with that.
I’m looking forward to seeing Campbell in 12,18 months.
    He can really play.

  103. alan b'stard M P says:

That is true Scott. We have no problem with possession against any side, if our lads could just hit the pill between the posts more

We have more chances than most. Just a little direction required

There was a time not so long ago where the shots were rare

  104. Scott from Oz says:

Alan,I actually said last night we arent far away from spanking a side…I think my prediction was only five though!!!
Ok,the opposition weren’t the best, but we needed an easy kill, and that’s a great confidence booster.

  105. Scott from Oz says:

AK,I’ve seen Campbell play just a few times, admittedly not against anywhere near premier league opponents, but he really has the talent to become an absolute ripper.
I reckon he may need another loan spell in England, but it depends on his development in France i guess.

  106. Scott from Oz says:

Goodnight all…….three hours sleep, then off to trial the greyhounds…..it never ends lol.
Can Arsenal swap their kick off times to suit us down under…..any chance…..please?
Til next time we clash,go you Gunners.

  107. Scott from Oz says:

Quickly,Frimpong is down injured…..doesn’t look too good.
He is off….in serious pain…..knee,I think.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
    I’m off now!

  108. devilgunner says:

    And I am back.

And it seems I have missed some more fun.

But I did continue to see the game.

Many things seem to start with Bolton. Even the invincibles run. Hope we go on a run now with no hiccups. It will be interesting to see what happens when Gervinho returns.

The speed may have gone but the predatory instinct of TH remain there.

  109. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Hi!
We must play on Saturdays and before everyone…
Was Kos replace beacuase he can’t play next game? How many yellow cards has he got?
rico, here we have a sport payable channel dedicate to english footaball. However, the others 4 sports channels payaable broadcast many english footbal (Arsenal almost always ! :-)), now, qPR wolves live, Bayern-Stuggard live, France-Italy 8rugby)live and tenis

  110. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Fripong injury! Barton…
Tahar is playing for QPR, so Chamack is ready;-)
    Gervinho plays today
    AA? Where is he?
Park has loan a chair on the bench

  111. Marinello says:

I know Micko, think I mucked up there. Never mind, we won. I’ll see it later on MOTD.
    I’m off food shopping now.
Take care, Micko, Rico, Steve, Scott, Alan and anyone else that I have missed off. Until tomorrow.
    Marinello.

  112. Micko says:

Me too Marinello, I’m sure they’ll give us a 10 minute slot tonight.

KT, i thought you only went out for a pint of milk, what happened.

  113. agirlagunner says:

KT!! Where have you been? Busy getting even better marks in school? Lol. Arsenal welcomed you back with a boom!

  114. Micko says:

Howdy agag, bit disappointed we conceded again, I’d have them in for extra training tomorrow morning, it ain’t good enough.

  115. K-TR7 says:

Am fine micko.turns out i had to milk the cow myself 😉 …oh agag lovely lady, how i missed you.i finished my exams yesterday.the past month was torture at least i can relax.hopefully arsenal arsenal play well too.

  116. DutchGooner10 says:

I am gonna buy 7 bottles of Dom Pérignon to have a really expensive bubble bath in my kitchen sink. Woohaa.

Finally a spark in the engine. A rare vintage antique thrashing. What’s the use of polishing if you can’t risk cutting the corner on 2 wheels, hey?? Theo in the saddle instead of having the darn thing strapped to his back, showing he has a bit more than horsepower about him. Rare indeed.

Arsenal taking things to the heart of the matter. Sticking the pig bladder in the net. Makes you smell ammonia and suddenly wake up. The punch drunk giant has come a bit to his senses to claim it’s fair share of reconciliation. Let’s see if it was more than a muscle contraction that ignited a desperate haymaker. Dance like butterfly, sting like a bee from now on. Marathon passing with an end product. Please, pretty please.

  117. agirlagunner says:

Ahaha, Micko. You, tyrant you. 😛

Good to hear, KT! 🙂 Now you can watch as much football as JM does. 😀 I certainly hope the floodgates have been opened! Goals more goals, please!

  118. agirlagunner says:

Dutch, yo’re all poetic again. Maybe yous hsould help rico out with tomorrow’s match report. 😉 Haven’t seen the match yet; can’t wait!

  119. DutchGooner10 says:

Agag I am behind a candle dipping a feather in ink. 😉

Rico will sweat her fingertips and put out a fine piece. Watch this space.

  120. K-TR7 says:

And that my friends shows you the difference between rosicky and ramsey.ramsey slows us down too much.rosicky plays at a higher tempo, one touch with a quick speed of thought.he kept our tempo up for 90 minutes and B’burn couldn’t cope.when we play passes at such a high tempo and marry it with precise off the ball movements we are devastating and a treat to watch.can we keep it up?…

  121. agirlagunner says:

Now, everyone is feeling all celebratory! 🙂 It’s been a while…

That will take you aeons, Dutch and I’m sure there are ball point pens in the Netherlands… 😉

KT, shame really about TR7’s mysterious injury. What a fantastic player.

  122. Micko says:

Dutch, that would make a great opening line in a book and I would definately wanna read on……….

Great day for the Gooners, hope there’s more ahead.

    Catch you later folks.

  123. K-TR7 says:

Rosicky was on course to being one of the best midfielders in Europe pre-injury agag.shame about how it turned out 🙁

  124. rico says:

Afternoon Guys and Gals and good to see you back Kt, how’s you?

JM, Chamakh has a bug I think, hope it’s a long one 😉

    Night Scott….

  125. DutchGooner10 says:

Sorry Agag Holland totally missed out on evolution after the Big Bang. Last time I heard a ball point is chewed more often than a pack of Stimorol. 🙂

    Great point K-TR7.

  126. devilgunner says:

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger talking about his side’s 7-1 win over Blackburn

“It was an emphatic scoreline but the most important thing was to get the three points today. We have some catching up to do to the points are important. The consistency is vital for us. We played under pressure today to absolutely win the game. Robin van Persie had some good assists and he is an exceptional player and is deadly when you feed him in the box. What is surprising to me is that in September, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looked junior, not mature enough, but in space of 2-3 months he is ready to be in the team.”

Maybe you should look for more talent in the lower divisions Dinkum

  127. rico says:

‘Maybe you should look for more talent in the lower divisions Dinkum’

    Spot On devil…. Spot on!

    Look at Jenks…

    About time JM eh….

    Back to my report 😉

  128. Scott from Oz says:

Ox is an exception, not necessarily the rule,so best be wary.
    He was bloody awesome.
I think, all going well,he can pack his bags for Euro12.
And we are worried about Barca and Real chasing RVP……they will wet their pants over this kid.
I may be caught in the moment, but this kid is as good at 18 as anyone ive seen.
Pace, touch, ability to just bamboozle and opponent, and, most importantly, composure in front if goal………..what’s missing?????

  129. DutchGooner10 says:

Devil basement shopping requires a pair of conjones. Shyness unjustly based on shame.

JM how much points you think it will take to be 4th place end of the season?

  130. Scott from Oz says:

Not too much of Eisfeld to see,but looked decent enough.
Good touch, but obviously will tale time some time.

  131. devilgunner says:

There are players SFO…..if only people look properly. And good ones at that.

Jenkinson and OX are just the tip.

    Lecointe at Plymouth
    Elliott Hewitt at Macclesfield
    Dunk at Brighton
    Hoban at Watford
    Powell at Crewe
    Zaha at Palace

    They are good players.

And remember Dixon, Winterburn and Bould were all nurtured in the lower divisions.

  132. devilgunner says:

DG10….the problem is “Does AW trust English Kids?”

Take Dunk at Brighton. A promising lad but already accused with 5 other players of rape.

Why is Lansbury at West ham when we need cover in midfield? Surely better than Benny!!!!

  133. rico says:

    Kt – I am 😛

I don’t want Ox to go to Euro, not this year….

devil – i think he is just starting too, finally and he’s been too slow in catching up with them, he seems to have judged most on jeffers… I am still amazed that he has let Freeman leave, but then he didn’t want him signed in the first place apparently…..

Lansbury, i think everyone knows my thoughts on him 😉

back to my match report 😉

  134. Scott from Oz says:

Devil,I have the problem of not seeing the lower league games, but agree there ways talented kids to be found……even classy 16,17 year olds here in Oz,and going cheap.

  135. DutchGooner10 says:

Devil RvP got accused of rape as well, but it’s just what these guys do. Get on top of each other when they score. 🙂 Okay that was just a bit of banter. I agree one must be careful, assess the character based on his focus of becoming a proper professional. Steering free of any brawler implications.

Lansburry on loan was a mistake. Should have been around for a season of PL football in the Red and White. Yossi was at his best prior to his move to Liverpool. Now he’s just another reject who needs a springboard to jumpstart the last stage of his playing career. Our own blood should get preferential benefits if they can hold their mojo. Like Luke Freeman recently stated some are raised in Goonerdom yet still have a hard time getting their foot between the dressing room door of first team football.

  136. devilgunner says:

I am squilling offski for the night.

Gotta jump into the pouch for some sweet dreams. Let’s go a hop a hopping across dream valley

  137. Joaquim Moreira says:

Gervinho will be out, at least, one more week.
Lansbury isn’t playing at WH? How old his he? 20? It’s ok on loan. It’s my opinion
Dutch: between 69 and 74 for be the 4th;74-78 for be clear the 3th; more then 77 for be 2nd or 1st. I think the winner not reach the 82-85 points.

  138. rico says:

Big Sam doesn’t play him after his injury JM, i think he’s 21 which is older than a few – he has what it takes, he is a better option than AA thats for sure, well, for sure in my opinion 😉

Ok, i am done, off to watch footie first, nothing like seing todays game again eh 😉

    Nighty all….

  139. W.A.T.H says:

Been lively on here today again it seems……………….

Seems some people throw stones while living in glass houses…!

  140. allezkev says:

A seven goal performance must surely boost the confidence of the squad. The opportunity to push on and build momentum which in turn should lead to a successfull run of games, is within the grasp of the team, if only they can maintain todays [yesterdays] form.
The goals from Ox were a right bonus. Finally we may have another goalscorer to share the load. Not that he’s gonna get 2 goals every game and we mustn’t forget that he’s still only 18, but he has the swagger that only the natural goalscorers have. And he’s ours… 🙂

  141. Scott from Oz says:

    Wath,
Are you trying to stir the pot……,throwing stones….glass houses??????
    AK,Theos best game for ages.
Short of injury or fatigue, there can be no excuses to leave Ox out again…….he is most definitely in our top 11.
    Vela v Barca……great stuff.
I thought he was going to be a superstar a few years back, lets hope time and maturity allow him to fulfil his potential.

  142. ne says:

What I would like to see at end off the season:-
    1. Wenger should clear the dead woods player.
    2. Buy 3 or 4 provent replacement (Striker, attacking midfileder, fullback)
    3. Promote player like frimpong, lansbury, miyachi, chamberlain, manone etc as backup and try to gave them game time as much as possible.
wenger is a proven coach in nuturing young player, but recently he have been showing no confidence in playing them (sad to see park and benayoun on the bench, these player need pratically gel with the other player not theoritically by watching from the bench). These boy need playing time. 1st team player need to be rotate sometimes as rest is needed, we have been seen walcott and ramsey drop in form. These also might reduce the injury that we always facing.
