Still Lacking in Leadership?? Fans set to be Very Disappointed….

How many times have we all sat back watching our team lose their way on the pitch, moaning that there is no leadership out there??

Well, now there is no excuse, not that there was really before:

Yossi Benayoun –   Israel Captain

Aaron Ramsey – Wales Captain

Andrey Arshavin – Russia Captain

Thomas Vermaelen – Belgium Captain

Tomas Rosicky – Czech Captain

Chu Young Park – Korean Captain

Per Mertesacker – Once club captain and deputy for his country

Robin van Persie – Arsenal Captain

So, no more should we see our side capitulate in games, we have leaders all over the park and now it’s time for them to show that, starting against Swansea a week on Saturday.

That game should see the return of Frimpong and hopefully Jack Wilshere will have recovered by then too. Also, the Swansea game sees the final match for Song and Gervinho’s ban, so it’s all starting to look a lot better.

Even Donkey Diaby may have recovered in time for the Swansea game, if so, he should make an appearance, just a few minutes before hobbling off back to the sick room….

Added to that of course all the new boys will be wanting to make their debut, it really looks as if finally we Gooners could be seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, rather than just some b*****d with a dull torch.

Finally, as we all know, it’s international fortnight so keep everything crossed that none of our players pick up any injuries….

I’ll leave you with a few comments from the latest new boys:

Andre Santos:

I am delighted to have signed for Arsenal, It was one of my dreams to play for a major European football club and I have accomplished this. I am very happy to be part of this team.

All the Brazilians who came to this club spoke wonders about it and I am delighted to be part of the Arsenal family.

Per Mertesacker:

I don’t think my transfer was Rooney’s fault, I don’t think that was the reason. I want to believe they were monitoring me for quite some time. For me, a childhood dream has come true.

Arsenal have this ability to play good football and to have Arsene Wenger on top of that as coach is unbelievable.

I wanted this for so long. It is a challenging task which I will tackle because I will also develop further as a player.

Yossi Benayoun:

I sign with Arsenal, very happy and excited about it, thanks for the support.

Mikel Arteta:

It is a big opportunity for me and my family and I think it is the right time for me to take it.

Chu Young-Park:

I am very honoured and I feel very happy to be at Arsenal. They are a team that I dreamed about when I was young. I am very proud to be an Arsenal player

So, some are with us to play CL football, others are just very proud or delighted to be signing for Arsenal, either way, if they give their all, we’ll be happy won’t we…

Unlike Nicklas Bendtner who is quoted as saying:

I’ll never go back to Arsenal, If I can have it my way, I will never play for them again.

I’m sure we’ll all be very disappointed if that turns out to be true……

Have a good day all….

    Hi Osi,

Only Arteta says it was CL that made him make the switch, all the other signings seem really chuffed to have joined Arsenal…

That’s what we all asked for too….

  2. Agzilla says:

I can’t believe Slim Shady claims he was never given the chance to prove himself….. All he did was miss sitters and score once in a blue moon if ever just to remind us what we actually needed….

No wonder he’s happier somewhere without CL football… big fish in a bathtub….

    A joke…

    Zz.

  3. Osi says:

Arteta says that out of respect for Everton fans. I find it disrespectful when some players switch and small their former club by saying ‘this is it’ is the club I always wanted to play. The others come from foreign clubs so there’s no sensitivity.

  4. Adam says:

Morning Rico. I see Nic Entitlement Bendtner is at it again. I read his version. Mine is that he never really stepped up to the plate at Arsenal where he found himself at a club that was just to big for him. What did he ever do that justified the player that, only in his head, he became. The talent he was so willing to big- up never seemed evident to many others. Personally I think it was a perfect example of how confidence can be a bed-fellow of delusion.

  5. rico says:

H’e certainly been a perect pro about his move, bit like Cesc has been with us….

Hi Adam – agree, i know he’s been played out of position but he should have a brain, we all knock Theo for not cutting in and being clinical in front of goal, well the same can be said of Nik…

Only difference is one of the two does not tell the world he’s the best striker in the world….

  6. rico says:

    Hi Agzilla…

I think he’ll eventually go abraod, a not so physical league and slower play would suit his game more imho…

  7. rico says:

    Morning SYG,

I think he wants loans to a( save money, b) so not to ‘kill’ the chances of the young ones coming through…

I don’t agree with it entirely though, Gourcuff would have been a great addition, as would Cahhil, M’vila…

My own thought is we will get Cahill in Jan cheaply of summer for free IF we get into the CL…

  8. Declan says:

    Morning all
Thanks for the great post. In my opinion these five are going into the season with the ryt attitude. As for b52 I had such great hope for him a year or so ago but his attitude is far from a winners mentality. He feels entitled to be in the first team rather than using the time to hone his incomplete skills.
I will not be weeping over losin him.

  9. rico says:

    Hi Declan, Alex…

SYG, i meant next season, we need to make sure we get into the top four at least – also, if we get to the new year and are in the top four, wenger may just buy a player or two to help us in the final few months…

  10. Dominic says:

I think the comments about Diaba are unwarranted.
It’s not lack of ability but rather that he has never really recovered from the broken ankle he suffered at Sunderland. He has been very wary of wild challenges (cue all the pundits with “There was nothing malicious in it”.) but hopefully they can get his ankle sorted. If he gets his confidence back he will be a significant figure for us over the next few years. If not then regretably we must move him on to another league were cloggers are not given the same opportunities (cue the pundits with “It’s a man’s game”).

  11. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

The fact that Bendtner couldn’t find a club to buy him says it all. His fee was minimal so what was the hitch? Big clubs in Europe were reportedly after him and he ends up at Sunderland on loan? Even Everton didn’t want him. That’s got to be a massive reality check for him.

  12. rico says:

    Hi Dominic

Diaby’s problem is he has the football brain, he has the footballing feet – but seldom do the two seem to work together and he’s always injured….

  13. Osi says:

The problem when Nik says that his market valued will go down because clubs will think oh he’s not happy to go back to Arsenal so they must let him go for less. We have problem at Arsenal because of the media perceptions about our players value. they think all our players are rubbish and should be just released for nothing. This affects our players market value.

  14. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

    Hi Dominic
We got told by Wenger that both Diaby and Denilson had what it takes ‘to become world class’. Rubbish.

Diaby can look the part against lesser teams and can give what looks like a great performance about twice a year. The other fifty-odd games he’s either shite or injured.

I read somewhere, arseblog I think, that stated Wenger turned down £10M for him from France. If I was Wenger I’d have carried him there on my back.

There’s no point in having a Jaguar if it’s in the garage or not running 85% of the time – you get shut.

  15. rico says:

Osi – i think the fact that he’s ended up at sunderland and only on a loan already tells us something, that is that clubs don’t rate him.. He’s been to up his own doo daa instead of nuckling down and trying to prove a point…

SYG – i read that too, it was from PSG, and i’d have helped you carry him….

  16. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

    Rico – lol
    nice one.

Osi – I think Bendtner has gone as far is he could with us.
Like, Diaby – at times he looks the part but most of the time he doesn’t.
His body language tells you it all.
If he was as good as he thought, he’d be playing European football this year, and at 23 he certainly wouldn’t be on loan.

  17. Micko says:

    Good moaning,
Nicklas bendtner is a bit of a prize plonker if you ask me, he was given plenty of opportunities but never took them.
Good riddance to bad rubbish, don’t think anyone will lose any sleep over him.
And no need to belittle donkeys in your post btw.

  18. Osi says:

SYG, Arsene said they had the ‘potentiial to be world clas players’ because they were young and talented and everybody could see that they have the skills to be successful, however, to succeed in football you need more than skills. At the end it is up to them to show what they can not Arsene. Arsene only have to support them which he did, but can not give them the determination and the fight necessary to succeed. I don’t agree that Diaby is rubbish; he’s a great player but was unlucky injured all the time. it seems you forget that Diaby had some good performances against teams like ManU, Barcelona Liverpool.

  19. rico says:

SYG – do you think Nik was the reason Ade got fed up and looked elsewhere?

Morning Micko, I appologise to all donkeys, being an animal lover i should have known better 😉

  20. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

Osi – I remember that winning goal he scored when were were playing Man U up at Old Trafford – A bullet header. Unfortunately it was in our own net.

I remember at the Nou Camp when we were 1-0 up and we had a three on two breakaway and he held on to the ball far too long before making a bum decision to play in the wrong forward.

  21. rico says:

I agree Osi, they both had the potential but sadly neither quite fulfilled it, If Diaby could stay fit and play regular it may help him but sadly he seems to break down too easily, just like Gibbs….

I don’t think the few bad tackles he has received have helped him, but personally i am still angry for him for getting sent off against Newcastle last season…..

Wengers biggest downfall is hanging on to players for too long when its clear they just don’t have what it takes in the top half of the PL….

If Diaby stays fit, where wil he fit in now??

  22. Osi says:

Rico I think the clubs rate him but they didn’t want to pay £10 or £9ml for him, which is reported to be Arsenal asking price. Does he worth that amount? I think yes because he’s better than many players who were bought for similar amount.

  23. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

    Hiya Rico
Lots of footballers hate each others guts. Cole and Sherringham loathed each other, but they were professional about there job. People often can’t stand people they work with.
Stevie Williams an inch from to blows with David O’Leary after a 1-3 reverse v’s Watford in the FA Cup. It’s part and parcel of the game.

I think Adebayor is Adebayor and Milan were is Beyonce, yet he’s now with Tottenham playing Europa League football.
I think that says it all about Adebayor. He’s an idiot.
How the gunmen missed that ego I’ll never know!

  24. rico says:

    Osi,

Bendtner isn’t worth £10M imho, not on his performances over the years but if he does well at Sunderland then maybe, actually, I hope he scores lots of goals and does really well, except against us, then we can raise his price to £15M…

He’s made it clear he doesn’t want to be at arsenal…..

  25. Osi says:

Rico you seems to think that’s good to ship out young players if they don’t live up to early promise, are you suggesting we release them for nothing? I don’t know what’s going on in Arsene mind, but I think that all these players we criticise helped the club to qualify to champions league and keep us near the best. Arsene could have easily shipped them for free and bought instead some average players for 12 to 15ml and that would have hurt the clubs finance while not improving the squad. If you think the likes of Parker, Joe Cole [big wages] + others not skillful and expensive players we’ve been linked with over the years, could have improved our squad then I have to disagree strongly.

  26. lance (south africa) says:

bendtner – remember that sitter his missed at the end against barca
diaby – that sending off at newcastle
    need i say more

  27. rico says:

Those players weren’t about themselves though, they were all for the good of the club, just shows that nowadays, too many footballers care about a lot but the club they play for is not at the top of the list…

He’ll be great for the spuds for three months, then the same old Ade attitude will take over, like you say, he is what he is…

Shame really, when he wants to play, he is good – maybe Nik and he were out to prove who had the biggest ego, tough call but one now down the road and one up the road – reap what you sow i guess 😉

  28. Osi says:

Is sending off a trait of Diaby? I think you have to remember that Viera was the most sent off player in Arsenal or even football history. What Diaby was sent off for was similar to what the thug called Barton got away with against us this year?

  29. rico says:

No no Osi, not for nothing but if another team comes in for them like PSG with Diaby, PSG with Chamakh, Arsene should maybe think a little more about accepting an offer rather than keep on playing them – then, as we saw with denilosn last season he seldom played, surely he would be better off at a club who would play him and do well – i don’t think they are dreadful players, just some players don’t suit the pace and sggression of the PL, Diaby, Nik and Denilson are three of them but that is only my view, doesn’t mean it’s right 😉

Out of the three, I think Diaby has more to offer but his fitness is a huge problem and we are paying him, just like we did Tomas….

  30. goonster says:

Somebody put me out of my misery! I fucking hate this interlull. It came at the wrong time…..why not before the debacle at Old toilet or before the pool game. I hate this we finally get a semblance of a great team in the making and then “BAM” the fucking interlull rears its ugly head. I wanna see Santos play so bad! God in heaven grant me patience. Am done with my moaning…..morning good people.

  31. rico says:

    Hi lance – no 😉

Trouble is Osi, we always fall for the tricks of others, barton is a thug and he winds up players – we need to be more switched on and leave players like Barton to look the idiot – had Gervinho not slapped him in this seasons game, i am sure Barton would have got a red card. Song was his own worst enemy with his stamp, leaving Barton looking the good boy…

We lack discipline, we always have under wenger, players know they should not retalliate but they still do…

I remember james Beatie always used to wind up Roy Keane, and the latter used to see red, Shearer did the same….

The more teams know we will react, we are cannon fodder for the wind up merchants…

  32. Osi says:

Rico these were just rumours? I don’t think Arsene could have turned down some millions for Chamakh because I think Arsene don’t trust chamakh anymore otherwise he could have given him some playing time. Diaby off? I don’t think so. I think people remember just his bad performances but the guy is, apart from being injured, performed reasonably well last when he played, and the year before that. He’s still recovering mentally and physically from the injury. Arsene once said that Diaby’s knew is ‘looking the other way’ something in that sense, I don’t remember the exact quote but he said some he’s very wrong with his knew and consequently he couldn’t performed. That was before his last injury; it was at the start of last season.

  33. EastSidePaul says:

Ah finally myself and Niki B agree on something! Happy to hear he doesn’t want back. Now if only we could convince Denilson the same…

Heath broken to hear we failed in an attempt to bring Gourcuff to the club. Any update on injures?

  34. Osi says:

Rico do you think the lack of discipline has something to do with Arsene management method then? I think a manager cannot control the human reaction on the pitch? Human behaviours can be altered through counseling which I am sure Arsenal management are aware of, but that doesn’t mean all people respond to such counseling. So are Arsenal players the only ones who show strong or stupid reaction and not others? It’s a good question. The answer however is not conclusive. If you believe in pure statistic then maybe it’s true Arsenal have the most sending off in the premier league last season and maybe others. However, if you go to analyse these stats to come with a more believable story you come to another conclusion. for example, last season I watched [which is rare for me] ManU in about 10 matches live and what I saw from the ref. was astonishing; 4 times in those matches they should have 5 players sent off. I think you remember Vidic got away with a sending off 3 times; against Wolves, Arsenal twice; Ferdinand against Arsenal, Neville. They were all clear sending off but they all got away with it. had they had been sent off their disciplinary record could have, well, I don’t know.

At the same time, Arsenal were unlucky in many sending off offense last season; I remember Kos, Song’s.

  35. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

    Morning Goonster.
Roll on Swansea – we beat them home and away the last time we played them in the top flight, but I certainly hope we do better than when we played them in 1981/2 season.

    Swansea City 2-0 Arsenal
    Arsenal 0-2 Swansea City

The same season we bought Clive Allen as a replacement for Stapleton and then swapped him for Sansom.
We had a great forward line of Hankin, Hawley and Alan Sunderland.

Who would have thought back then that in 30 years time we could field a 3-pronged forward line consisting of an Israeli, a South Korean and a Russian?

  36. rico says:

Hi ESP – no injury news yet but i don’t think any matches have taken place, other than the u21’s – you see Henri’s goal??

  37. Osi says:

Rico talking about the lack of discipline I read Keown saying that the reason we had lack of discipline was because of the frustrations. He talked about him jumping on Ruud Van out of pure frustration and he said they showed lack of discipline because they were second best. In the contrary, he said that ManU were the ones lacking discipline and filled with frustrations when we were the better team. I think that’s a good analysis.

  38. rico says:

Osi – the retaliation sendings off are unforgivable imho, players should be able to control that, if they were in the real world, the words anger management would be sent their way..

The late, clumbsy tackles etc, they are silly but not as bad in my own view, i know many players get away with more than we but we just need to look after ourselves and make sure we don’t gift referees with simple decisions to make…

But yes, some of our bookings have been soft aswell….

  39. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

Micko – What the Stevie Williams thing with David O’Leary I mentioned earlier or the two 0-2 reverses against Alan Curtis’ Swansea?

The last time I had roasted peanuts at a match was Newcastle 2-0 Arsenal in 1975 or 76 I think. I also once had them at a Sheff Wed 1-2 Santos in 1971 or 72.

I remember taking my lad to Hillsborough to see us draw 1-1 and buying my lad a cup of Oxo/Bovril. He turned his nose up and stated: “What’s this, gravy?”

  40. rico says:

Osi, Keown is spot on… Frimpong was victim of that, and because he was so keen to change the game – he did that alright 😉

But he’s young and we can’t knock his enthusiasm, I thought he was bloomin good, red card aside….

He’s back for the Swansea game isn’t he?

  41. EastSidePaul says:

    – Rico

Just watched it now, he played well. So did ox. Impressive stuff.
Micko, you watching the game tonight?

  42. Micko says:

SYG, i’ve got a good memory but its short, a lot of the games i went to are just a blur now altho I do have all the programmes in the loft, I dunno how you do it.
I’ll have to rack your brains from time to time.

  43. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

There weren’t any play stations, X-box’s, SkyTV when I were a kid (excerpt from Monty Python’s Yorkshireman sketch) so, football and Arsenal were everything…
…The season we got “did” by Swansea, was when we couldn’t replace Brady and Stapleton….
That’s one reason why if it were up to me, players who DUMPED the club such as Brady and Stewart Robson certainly wouldn’t be involved with the club now….

  44. rico says:

ESP – i hope he does really well at the Hammers, toughens up under FS and gets his chance next season… Didn’t see the game but good to hear Oxo played well too…

SYG, he’s probably busy moving and hasn’t done his I/V yet 😉

  45. Micko says:

ESP, i was born within throwing distance of the bow bells, always followed england, Ireland will need to win tonight if they are serious about winning their group, I’ll more than likely watch the game at home as there will be bigger greener games being screened in the pubs this evening.

  46. K-TR7 says:

Hi all.good read rico.if walcott avoids injury he’ll score 20+ goals this season.he already has 3 in 5 games.Matt Law has said that Terry thinks wally should be our main striker after hitting 4 in training.

  47. Micko says:

KT, as infuriating as theo is, he will get us goals.
Have you noticed he doesn’t run straight into the corner flag from kick off anymore, he is improving all the time.

  48. K-TR7 says:

Regarding marquee signings maybe by the end of the season Ryo/oxo will prove to be good enough.they may be the ‘x factor’ to our season.also if diaby can get over his injuries and have his brain and feet in sync he can be pretty damn good.Laurent Blanc said so long as diaby is fit he is guaranteed to play at the Euro012 in Poland.to be good enough.they may be the ‘x factor’ to our season.also if diaby can get over his injuries and have his brain and feet in sync he can be pretty damn good.Laurent Blanc said so long as diaby is fit he is guaranteed to play at the Euro012 in Poland.

  49. K-TR7 says:

I agree Micko.wally can be brilliant one minute and rubbish the next but he always scores.he may not have the technical ability of messi but he has devastating movement off the ball.i liked how he and Gervinho were switching flanks to create a fluid attack.if they can string several games together they’ll be devastating up front.what they lacked was enough ammo from midfield, now we have arteta/returning jack/benayoun they’ll bang ’em in for fun.scores.he may not have the technical ability of messi but he has devastating movement off the ball.i liked how he and Gervinho were switching flanks to create a fluid attack.if they can string several games together they’ll be devastating up front.what they lacked was enough ammo from midfield, now we have arteta/returning jack/benayoun they’ll bang ’em in for fun.

  50. K-TR7 says:

I have always believed that the most dangerous players in the world have excellent off the ball movement.wally is one of them.thats why the invincibles were pretty damn good.it also seems to me that arsene is going to make us more direct this year.our flanks wally/sagna and santos/Gervinho will be very dynamic this year.all we need is to sort out our midfield combinations and we’ll surprise ’em all.

  51. K-TR7 says:

I read somewhere this morning in the media that mertsacker is a cheap jagielka 😮 …i was like WTF?mertsacker at 26 has 75 caps for a team that is always in the semis/finals of major international competitions.jagielka is approaching 30 and has barely played for England.if mertsacker had cost £25mil they’d be saying he is one of the best buys.quality isn’t always related to price and i for one can’t wait to prove them wrong.

  52. rico says:

I just hope we don’t expect too much from Ryo and Oxo, they need time otherwise their confidence will go – they certainly look the biz though…

  53. rico says:

Theo is best when he has little time to think 🙂

SYG 😆 re Bruce Lee, i think he’ll be better, he’ll be played more and as long as he settles quickoly he could turn out to be quite a catch, and a cheap one too 😉

  54. rico says:

With the signings in then, what would be your starting eleven against Swansea?

Presuming Jack will be fit and no injuries from this next week…

  55. rico says:

Rhys Murphy did well too for the ROI under 21’s…

he played the full 90 minutes on his Under-21s debut, scoring the winner in the 69th minute…

  56. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

TR7 – If that’s the team, Swansea will get spanked.
We need to start accumulating in “Goals For” column, seeing as we’ve shipped in 10 already.
5-0 with Arteta on the score sheet.

  57. rico says:

wally = theo i take it?

I’d be tempted to start Chamberlain instead of AA but the rest, i’d agree i think Kt…

  58. Joaquim moreira says:

With this team, Nasri had left?
I’ve read some names consulted and refused.
I just hope everything goes well (the final stage of qualifying for CL, go ahead underlies the Cups and be in the first places of league, with the chance to discuss it).
If so, I hope we hit the market in January and solve some pending cases.

  59. K-TR7 says:

Rico if we had signed götze/hazard the media would cream in their pants but immediately they fail to adapt wenger would get crucified for relying on youth again.now we sign experienced players they are crucifying wenger for not buying the aforementioned marquee players.having AA/Benayoun will ensure ryo/oxo won’t be thrown in the deep end but will still play.who knows they may end up ensuring we don’t need to splash out on either götze/hazard.the signing of arteta will also give ramsey some breathing space.

  60. rico says:

Bit of good news is Jack being back in training, then after swansea all our banned players are back, baring Diaby we will have a full squad…..

  61. rico says:

JM – a lot depends on whether any players, (wengers targets) current club is in the CL and if they get through to the ko stages – if they are and they do – they won’t leave their club i’m sure….

  62. rico says:

Kt, i was saying the same yesterday, he buys and their labelled ‘panic buys’ but Merts nipped that in the bud….

  63. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

First thing up is to accumulate points with what he thinks is our best 11 and keep with it and rotate 1 or 2 players as and when and not use wholesale rotation like in the League Cup. Know your team.

If we gather momentum we are quite capable of turning over Liverpool at Anfield and United at the Emirates, which is points-wise, mathematically a better outcome than we had against both clubs last year.

  64. K-TR7 says:

We have a -8 Goal Difference.its about time it got back to 0.if we have all our players back including diaby it may happen against swansea.

  65. K-TR7 says:

I think we’ll see our best team against Borussia Dortmund when the likes of Gerv/song will be clear to play.i’ll watch keenly how our wingplay gerv/santos and sagna/walcott will work out.

  66. rico says:

Agree SYG, none of this changing 7/8 players at one time, that’s what did us last year, rotate wisely and I think we are able to do that this season…

Will be interesting to see whether AW takes the CC seriousl this season – I hope he does and i hope a liitle team shocks both the mancs along the way 😉

  67. rico says:

    Good Signs 😛

Chu Young Park hit a hat-trick as South Korea secured an emphatic victory in their World Cup qualifier against Lebanon. The new signing from Monaco fired in an excellent volley for his first, headed home from a corner for No 2 and completed his trio of strikes with a superbly-taken effort midway through the second half.

  68. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

He’ll take the League Cup seriously. He has to look at everything seriously.

He also needs to sort out a “siege mentality” from within the club, and stop talking to the press, because he makes himself look a fool when he continually contradicts himself.

Get to a match. Hammer the opponents. Job done. Back to London.
    Tell the press nothing.
Get to a match. Hammer the opponents. Job done. Back to London.
    Tell the press nothing.
Get to a match. Hammer the opponents. Job done. Back to London.
    Tell the press nothing.

Don’t encourage journalists to make you look stupid.
He needs to relay more through the clubs website via daily statements, and keep the fans informed more. Especially re: internal politics.

    Recently – Website I think…
“Is there any truth that you are interested in Arteta, Arsene?”
    “No”.

Agree there SYG, talk about football, the match and nothing else – dont get dragged into what other teams are doing, what they have spent etc etc, it’s no-ones buisness but theirs…

Stick to Arsenal, don’t get drawn into others mind games….

I’d add to that, don’t sulk if we lose, i hate seeing him not shake the other managers hand or blaming everyone or everything other than him/us for a defeat….

  70. rico says:

Did you guys know that Ignasi Miquel is 6′ 4″??

    I didn’t realise, he’s looked smaller when he’s playing….

  71. Micko says:

Rico, I bumped into robert pires outside the ground last season after the west ham game i think it was, it was the time he was training with us, i was so used to seeing him running with his head down that i didn’t realise he was so tall,he hung about for around 10 minutes with a rather nice lady and a couple of heavies before being picked up in a land rover, I know its only a bit of useless information but you did start it.

  72. stevepalmer1 says:

    Evening all,
Nicky B is still trying to sell his bent Aston Martin, people cannot believe he actually hit something, he has always missed everything.
Good post Ricolicious, a team of captains we only need one to pick up a trophy but all of them to win it.

  73. arsenal fan says:

miquel is 6 feet 4 i didnt know that…….against liverpool he looked max 6….
    thanks for the info rico…:D

  74. rico says:

That’s not useless info Micko, I think it’s funny how players look so tiny on the pitch but in the flesh they are huge, Big Sol though just looks huge – full stop 😉

  75. rico says:

    My pleasure AF 😉

I recall being at Highbury when we played West ham, the one where they scored but Cole cleared it off the line (not) and Lauren scored an own goal…

I met David James in the foyer/hallway, whatever it’s called after and he was looking at the new stadium plan which was all set up under glass – I needed a step ladder to get up to his height, nice guy though 😉

  76. Joaquim moreira says:

Until 31th december (including), we can got 45 points. If on the 1st January we can have more then 35 points and close the 40, we can figth for the title.

  77. rico says:

Exactly JM, we now need to go on a good winning run and build momentum – as long as we are up around the top at the turn of the year…

  78. rico says:

Apart from Man City away, the fixtures aren’t too bad and we should on paper win the majority of them if not all – as long as we have the right attitude and not too many injuries….

  79. rico says:

    😆

I’m just ready for the swansea game now steve and i want us to batter them, do to them what the mancs did to us, get us back on the road and build confidence…..

  80. EastSidePaul says:

There is nothing I would like to see more, than us giving swansea a double digit beating, a beating so bad that the media calls into question our morality for not stopping. But that won’y happen. I’d be happy with just the 3 points.

  81. rico says:

I’m sure Ramsey would like to get one over them too steve, bitter rivals of his old team ….

I always said, I’d whinge during the closed season if wenger didn’t buy, we now have what we have and it’s time to get behind them…

Thats all I tried to tell Will also but I’m not he saw that….

  82. stevepalmer1 says:

He’ll come back rico his an old Gooner a bit touchy but that has happened to a lot of supporters this wndow, but as you rightly said time to get behind the team, and hopefully lift supporters spirits enough to make The Ems a fortress again.

  83. EastSidePaul says:

I have always felt that was a faulting of the team when we were top dogs of England, that we would slow down on a team when we went 3, 4 up.

There is no room in the game for pity and united showed us that. They still wanted more even after 8. Its ruthlessness, and its something we need to show.

Show no mercy for you shall receive none!

  84. Micko says:

Lets give them a damn good thrashing, they don’t like it up them, that has to be wengers team talk before sending them out.

  85. EastSidePaul says:

    – Micko

I remember it well, was so frustrating knowing we could put cricket scores up, but failing to do so!

Are you heading to the match tonight?

  86. stevepalmer1 says:

I don’t care how many just 3 points suits me lets just start to build.
didn’t realise you were a very old gooner Rico, bit like me

  87. EastSidePaul says:

I sure Ryanair would more than oblige you! Considering we missed our flight out of london after the emirates cup and they wanted to charge us £380 for a flight the next day!

  88. Micko says:

Daylight robbery, thats out of order, there basically just a flying bus really aren’t they.
It works out really well for me.

  89. rico says:

All quiet here now, not surprised after the close of the window 😉

I’m going to head off too – you all have a good night…

    Catch up tomorrow..

    Night all….
