Sol turns his back on the Totts, Merts finished for the season & Podolski medical is utter garbage!

Lukas Podolski representative Kon Schramm has dismissed all the speculation surrounding any medical involving the FC Koln player!

“He was at no medical, neither in London nor elsewhere.”

We all knew it was bollox  rubbish anyway didn’t we, why would any player have a medical at this stage of the season.

That’s it about the German from me, the next time I mention him in a post of mine will be if and when afc.com announce he’s ours.

So back to things that matter and that’s where we finish the league in May and funny enough, we have had the best backing we could bearing in mind who we are up against in the run in.

Campbell said:

The lads have shown a lot of spirit. You have to get a bit of the rub of the green, but that tends to come when you start being bolder on the pitch. Gamble on your skill, gamble in the box, gamble in thinking: ‘I am going to try this’. Start gambling your talent, basically.

The more you bust a gut to win, the more you are going to see the crowd feed off that. You make your own luck, and against Newcastle there was a little deflection for the winning goal and the ball came to Vermaelen, but he was there because he busted a gut to get into the box.

Van Persie is flying and banging in goals left, right and centre. Everyone is starting to gel and realising what it means to play for Arsenal. That level of confidence and class is what they should be aiming for all the time.

Sure, sometimes you won’t reach that level but you have to work out how to grind out a result, or shut the game down. That is a learning curve.

‘The lads’

Love it from Sol!

His old club, the one that made sure he won a few medals during his playing care are still in very much in Big Sols heart, so much so that he backs us over the side we stole him from for free!

Nine years spent at the neighbours, five with us but it’s us he backs to finish the season on a high.

We all know that anything can happen between now and the end of the season, we all know that on paper Tottenham have the better run in so third place really is theirs to lose.

Ok they have a tough fixture against Chelsea away and they will be focusing on the Champions League no doubt, but they will also be desperate to secure their Champions League future for next season, that’s the one trophy that Roman wants his toy club to win!

Reality is, all we can do is take each game at a time, carry on in the way that Sol has mentioned we have been playing and let results take care of themselves.

The good news is that we have Santos back fit and healthy, as is Jenkinson and Diaby is very close to a return, two more weeks should see Coquelin ready for selection too.

Added to them, Jack Wilshere is pencilled in for a return before the season ends, so it’s all looking better each day. Merts though has been ruled out for the rest of the season by Wenger but the bench is getting stronger, the spirit is on an all season high and baring Rob the Chef cooking the squad a Lasagna, we should be ok.

It really is down to Arsenal, just as 3rd place is Tottenham’s to lose, 4th place is also ours to lose over the remaining six weeks…

All we can be sure of is that we have just eleven games left and anything can still happen, so best the club, the manager and all the players don’t give up the fight……

That’s it folks on another ‘not much news day’, have a good one..

Good morning Guys and Chicks of the Proud Gunners’ Faith.

Goody for you Rico. Do not mention LP again till we see him play a game in our colours. And then start the headline “Blimey, look who we have signed.”

Did you manage to see the vid I posted of the reserves yesterday?

    Good player that Gnabry is.

  4. rico says:

    Morning devil,

the podolski story is boring now isn’t it, reminds me of the chamakh stories before he shocked us all and signed, only difference is, LP isn’t free 😉

Saw the video, just haven’t viewed it yet but will do right now 😉

How on earth did RvP’s opener against Newcastle not get in their goal of the week??

That vid highlights a few bright up and coming players devil, shows that Park isn’t afraid to shoot nor is Aneke, but it also highlights how low in confidence, how poor Chamakh is….

Arsenal ‘serge’ forward, they sure did, he scored 😉

  8. Steve says:

It is worth mentioning that Everton will have played 2 very tough games since our boys last kicked a ball. I fancy us to win up there next week. Also, anyone wanting the Chavs to get beat in the CL 1/4 finals please consider that our game against them is sanwiched between the semi-final ties.

  9. W.A.T.H says:

A loss in the semi is a killer, the chavs would be gutted so let them get to the semi and get battered….!

  10. devilgunner says:

If the Scum from the slum and the chavs drop points in their next match and we win, then we could go up to third and maybe start pulling away. I know its impossible but hopefully shitty will also drop points…..that means we would have gained 3 more on them.

I hope Citeh batter the Chavs first though devil, then they can lose all their games left and gift the title to Fergie, and if miracles happen, we nip in and nick 2nd 😉

Right now though i just don’t want us to drop off from 4th, take each game one at a time and don’t worry about those around us. If we deep on showing the guts we have been in the last few weeks, the PL places will take care of themself 😉

The Czech Republic captain was out of contract this summer but signed a new deal with the Gunners earlier this week.

However, Rosicky, 31, revealed he considered quitting the Emirates for one last big pay day before having a change of heart.

He said: “Arsenal let me get to the point where I had just half a year on my contract and could talk to anyone I wanted.

“It started to get interesting because I had very lucrative offers. This turned my head a little, but I have to say that Arsenal were my priority.

“In both cases it was financially huge numbers, so that somehow you had to entertain it, it’s not easy.

“Some days I thought about it, but money is not everything, I’m glad I’ll be able to continue at Arsenal.”

Rosicky also dismissed suggestions his recent run of sparkling form was because he had to prove to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger that he was worth a new contract.

Rosicky added: “It had nothing to do with it. I am healthy, I play in the centre of the field and have rhythm from regular games. That is all together very important.

“When you play once a fortnight, it is difficult. I know I cannot handle all the games of the season, but the rhythm, being involved at least once a week is very important.

“And anyway, I had given my word to the coach that I would stay.”

Benfica is winnable for the chavs. If they nick the all away important goal or even a draw then they will meet the winners of Barca/Milan in the semi final.

Hopefully they will go through and get Barca in the semi. Nice to see our game sandwiched between the two semi finals. They will surely rest some players.

Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham have all contacted Lille to register an interest in signing playmaker Eden Hazard.

Strange how Arsenal are no longer linked to this guy.
Methinks that it could have something to do with unrealistic financial demands…

  23. allezkev says:

Chelsea certainly have a lot of distractions, as in FAC & CL.

Might see them take their eye off of the EPL & drop a few more points?

  24. rico says:

    Sure can wath 😉

AK, we know that they are spot on, when RvP got sent off against them, how many of us thought ‘fix’

One day it’s all going to come out… It has too…

Maybe The Sun on Sunday will be the ones…. 😉

  25. devilgunner says:

Sir AK….that article has practically confirmed what I have been banging all about. Yes there is corruption. Everywhere. And all the time. And they are sincerily scared by Arsenal. Because Arsenal have done what nobody from the top clubs have managed to do…..qualify fully with FFP. And it is scaring Uefa and the FA. United, Shitty, Chavs, Dippers, Scum. All of them cannot qualify due to financial imbalances.

Barca, Madrid, Milan, etc are all in the same boat. And believe me….they will end up bandrupt in a few years time. They are only buying time now. Did you see the charges against Rangers???

    7 charges related to FFP.

What scared me most in the article was the following……”””And as if this wasn’t enough I finally want to talk about the most scary part of it all. The deafening silence of the serious media in all this. Where are Sky? Where is The Sun, The Mail, The God Knows What Other Paper or TV Station? How come they do as if nothing has been said? How come that they pretend nothing is wrong?

So more and more we get the impression that there is not just something wrong with the referees and the top of Uefa and football federations. No there seems to be some kind of Omertà going on. The media is not willing to lift the lid of this possible corruption. They prefer to ignore it almost completely. So the code of silence is not just in football circles like I have said it before. No from now on we can also say that the media is also on the side of those who like to keep the silence and protect their paymasters. And as disgusting as the buying of refs is, it is also disgusting that when one person breaks the code the media comes to help them and keeps the Omertà intact.”””

So in all probability the FA want one thing. They want AFC out of UEFA champions league because it dents their hopes of luring quality players. Arsenal may be the third richest club in the world. But regarding finances they are the 1st. And people are running scared about it.

  26. devilgunner says:

Lol…..those old cards were champ. was laughing my head off regarding a couple of them.

The faceless ones were also tops.

  27. devilgunner says:

I would rather AW bought one belgian instead of the other. I prefer Fellaini instead. Ok they play in a different position but one is a fighter the other is a cissy ballerina. He may be skillful but he has the attitude of a Na£ri.

For the advanced midfielder role I would prefer Gotze. Works his socks of for the team. Marko Marin is also a top player for me.

  28. devilgunner says:

Imo I would prefer the following next season…….Fellaini, Vertonghen, Gotze, Podolski.

Then we would have 3 Belgians and 3 Germans.

Get rid of Bendy, Denilson, Arshavin, Chamack, Diaby if he breaks down again, Song if he does not sign, Djourou, Squilli, Park.

  29. ArsenalDK says:

I just read on a danish football site, that Podolski says that he would like to play alongside Klose again, and that Klose has been talking highly of Lazio…

  30. rico says:

devil, i’d happily settle for Fellaini and the others you list 😉

I keep forgetting Hazard is from Belgium, i always just think his French 😉

  31. devilgunner says:

Yes he is. But the problem is that by buying him we would be keeping money in the EPL. You might ask isnt Fellaini the same? No he is not……because Everton will not give the money to Moyes to strengthen the team.

On the other hand I might prefer Dembele to Podolski since he is EPL experienced. But then he might cost the heaven to buy.

  32. rico says:

Arsenal striker Park Chu-Young has had his compulsory military service in South Korea delayed for 10 years.

The 26-year-old was expected to begin his service either this year or next year. All able-bodied South Korean men are required to serve two to three years in the military.

He’ll be staying and playing then 🙂

  33. Micko says:

    Afternoon all,
Don’t understand all the Hazard bashing, a fantastic little player, think he would have been brilliant for us, so what if he’s got an attitude, could and should have got the jump on him last summer but instead went for the prowess of Gervinho, nothing to do with him being cheaper but a few more sheckles could have got us the real deal.

Lukas Podolski’s agent rejects claim Arsenal move is agreed as talks go on

The agent of Cologne striker Lukas Podolski has rejected claims the player has had a medical at Arsenal, as talks over a possible transfer continue.

    .

Cologne’s Lukas Podolski is widely expected to join Arsenal (Pictures: AP)..

Arsenal are long-time admirers of the Poland-born German international, watching him several times before stepping up their interest this season when he has managed an impressive 16 goals in 20 matches despite his team struggling in mid-table.

The Gunners tried to buy Podolski in January, only to be told he would not consider changing clubs midway through the season as a period of adaptation could cost him a place in the German starting line-up ahead of Euro 2012.

However, the powerful 26-year-old remained keen on a move to north London.

And after Cologne told him he was free to leave following several spats with club officials, Arsenal opened talks with the Bundesliga side two weeks ago.

The clubs quickly agreed a £10.9m deal, which includes several performance-related bonuses that could take the eventual fee up to £15m.

All that remains is for Arsenal to strike a deal with Podolski himself, and although talks have progressed over a £100,000-a-week four-year deal, the two parties are yet to formally agree, but are expected to find an arrangement soon.

Yet that has not stopped constant speculation surrounding the deal, with reports in both the English and German media in the last week suggesting Podolski has already had a medical with Arsenal, and that the transfer was all but complete.

Agent Kon Schramm has denied this, however, telling Sky on Thursday: ‘He was at no medical, neither in London nor elsewhere.’

Podolski is Arsenal’s top transfer target this summer, and speaking recently, manager Arsene Wenger revealed his admiration of the player, while also explaining the complexities of such a transfer:

‘Podolski is a good player, I wouldn’t deny that. The distance to the agreement is not always linked with the signing,’ he said.

‘When you are very close you are quickly very far again.’

Arsenal will not fully complete the deal until the transfer window opens at the end of the season.

Arsenal full back Kieran Gibbs believes he can spot the early warning signs of injury after making a successful return to action for himself and his club.

The 22-year-old suffered a groin injury in October ruling him out for four months and he made his return in the 4-0 defeat to AC Milan on February 15.

Gibbs was however unable to recover sufficiently in time for the defeat at Sunderland the following weekend, but since that setback the Gunners have won four consecutive games, scoring 12 goals in the process.

“I think that was the case after my first game back,” said Gibbs. “We were playing a few days later away at Sunderland and I realised then that I wasn’t ready to play again so soon. I thought that something would happen because I hadn’t recovered quickly enough.

“I was better for it [missing the Sunderland game] because I came back in for the next game against Tottenham and now I feel like I can recover quicker and play consecutively.”

  41. allezkev says:

According to reports Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle is eager to extend the loan of Arsenal winger Ryo Miyaichi into next season.

The 19-year-old has been on loan at the Reebok Stadium since January and is due to finish at the end of the season.

The Daily Mail claims the Scot is keen to keep the Japanese starlet on longer.

Coyle feels the Japan forward is just as good as fellow Gunner Jack Wilshere who spent the back end of the 2009-10 season on loan.

  42. allezkev says:

When Arsenal’s midfield is fully fit and injury-free they are a match for just about anybody in Europe. Alex Song is a defensive-midfielder with the Arsenal philosophy deeply ingrained in his being, meaning that he’s not afraid to break forward whenever he can. Mikel Arteta is one of the calmest, yet efficient players in the Premier League and the rise to prowess of Tomas Rosicky has granted Arsenal increased attacking fluidity. That’s a fully-formed midfield before we’ve even mentioned Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and Abou Diaby.

With this much talent involved there seems little point in signing another midfielder during the summer unless some genuine quality can be brought in.

This brings me to Goal’s claim that Arsenal are closing in on Rennes’ Yann M’Vila. Widely regarded as one of world football’s biggest young talents, there are sure to be plenty of clubs interested in acquiring his services by the time that the summer transfer window opens. These clubs will no doubt find themselves spurred on by Rennes’ manager Frederic Antonetti revealing to Radio Monte Carlo that “Yann M’Vila won’t be a Stade Rennais player next season”.

  43. allezkev says:

So who’s winning the race to acquire his signature? According to his team-mate Kader Mangane, M’Vila “will join Real Madrid or Arsenal next summer”. So with Arsenal apparently in the driving seat, it’s worth asking the question: would he be a worthy addition?

Though he’s only 21-years-old, he’s well built isn’t afraid to throw himself around. He’s known for his tough, dominating performances in the defensive-midfield position and has even managed to establish himself in the French National team. Given his Nationality, his stature and his position, it’s perhaps unsurprising that he has found himself compared to Patrick Viera. In this case, however, the comparisons between the two players do seem striking.

Nobody knows young French players like Arsene Wenger (though I’m sure Laurent Blanc and Newcastle’s scouts will claim otherwise) so if he’s interested in M’Vila there has to be a good reason for it. I think the key here, is for Wenger to decide whether Diaby has a future with the Gunners. If not, bring in M’Vila to add further competition to the midfield and to make it so that Song isn’t assured of a place.

If he believes Diaby is capable of 30-games per season, then I don’t believe he’d be the right signing

  44. allezkev says:

All the above, i cut & pasted.

Hopefully Gibbs has learnt to ‘listen to his body’ and as with Rosicky and Van Persie, can avoid those niggling injuries that have hampered his development.

  45. allezkev says:

As for Ryo Miyaichi staying at Bolton?
that may not be such a bad idea with Gervinho, Oxlade-Chamberlain and potentially Podolski all vying for the left-wing spot.
A regular at The Reebok has to be preferable to sitting on the Arsenal bench for a season.
A full-season at Bolton under the coaching of Owen Coyle could see Miyaichi really progress in the same way Jack Wilshere matured at Bolton previously.

  46. allezkev says:

Yann M’Vila is an interesting one?
If there’s an area in the Arsenal squad, where i think we are very strong, it’s midfield…

But M’Vila is top top quality, and would probably go straight into the starting XI.
    He would also be expensive!

Mario Goetze ‘not ready for Arsenal transfer’

Mario Goetze’s agent has revealed there is no chance of the Germany international joining Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund during the summer transfer window.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is known to be keen to land the 19-year-old midfielder, who has also been linked with Manchester United.

A recent newspaper report claimed Arsenal were ready to step up their interest in the youngster and make a £25million bid in the coming weeks, before he has the chance to further enhance his reputation at Euro 2012.

Goetze’s representative Volker Struth was flattered by the story, but insisted his client was not interested in leaving the Bundesliga at this stage in his career.

‘We are always pleased to hear positive news about Mario. But we have said many times recently that Mario plays at least the next season with Borussia,’ he told German newspaper Express.
    .

Goetze is contracted to Dortmund until 2014 but, with strong interest from clubs in both England and Spain, it is believed they will look to cash in by selling him at the end of next season
