Signing someone like Tammy Abraham would make sense, but so would signing Kylian Mbappe!

Morning all.

Transfers, transfers, transfers, don’t we love them, especially the big eye-catching deals like Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Petr Cech, but to me the Rob Holding kind of deals are equally as enjoyable, when they come off. A player like Holding is more likely to buy into the ethos of the club and grow into it, as Laurent Koscielny has or Francis Coquelin have as both are probably Arsenal fans as much as players. The club can get under your skin like that.

Yossi Benayoun only spent a year at Arsenal after playing for West Ham and Chelsea, but seemed to thrive and thoroughly relish his time as a Gunner so when I read that Arsenal were looking at Tammy Abraham, I didn’t immediately think about flying a plane over the Emirates complete with Wenger Out sign trailing behind. Instead I thought about the change in tack by our scouting network and that they’re focusing more on players in the lower divisions. British players, who can given the opportunity, develop into top quality. I guess it’s Arsenal reacting to the formula which served Leicester so well and if you add that to quality foreign signings we could see a return to the Anglo-foreign squads which won us two Doubles back in Arsene’s successful years.

The success of Rob Holding shows that you don’t always have to spend multi-millions to acquire quality and that the change in scouting policy, sourcing players from the UK for realistic prices is a sensible way to go. It’s worked for Tottenham, and I’m not averse to us following suit, as long as it’s not a total return to project youth.

A balanced policy is the way forward. The wing-back from Schalke is a perfect example but if a player like Kylian Mbappe is affordable and willing to join Arsenal then the club should go in all guns blazing. Funny enough, L’Equipe are reporting that we’ve done exactly that with a bid of 100 million Euros! I doubt that’ll be enough though even if it is true and if it is, some other club will no doubt offer more. But I guess it all depends on the player and if he only wants to hook up with his fellow Frenchman in Arsene Wenger, then we’d stand a chance.

As Ivan Gazidis has has suggested in the recent past, we have the money so no more excuses about the financial muscle of Chelsea and Man City. Bloody compete with them!

The two petrodollar clubs have pretty much hoovered up all the best young talent available they can but they can’t sign or keep everyone, so a player like Abraham may reach a stage in his career where the money isn’t everything and he just wants to play so who is going to give him that chance, Chelsea or Arsenal? Mind you, it seems Newcastle are now hot on his tail with a loan deal.

Of course if Arsenal do sign Abraham or another young striker then it means the end for Yaya Sanogo and Chuba Akpom, especially with the promising three young strikers in the Arsenal Academy looking to push on up the ladder.

Arsenal were quick to take Edward Ntekiah once he was released from the the Chelsea academy because of the lack of opportunity there which is another symptom of having too many kids to choose from. Edward is 18 and has enjoyed a prolific campaign where he has enhanced his reputation as probably the best young finisher at the club.

Whether or not Arsene Wenger decides to take the Europa Cup as seriously as Mourinho has done this season remains to be seen but if he doesn’t, Eddie, along with Stephy Mavididi, 19, Reiss Nelson may just find their names on the League Cup/ Europa Cup squad for 2017/18. It’s certainly a distinct possibility.

Alongside them could be Jack Wilshere and Calum Chambers as both endeavour to rebuild their Arsenal careers. That’s if both are still at the club next season.

Really good post Kev and I’m 100% in agreement. I do think we need one or two big players, proven winners etc but also, plucking out players like Holding is great. Having come from a club in a relegation battle with nothing other than a glowing reference is very different to taking a chance on someone like Sanogo for example because he’s already used to the English game.

And is their a tougher league than the Championship? I’m not sure there is…

  2. Kel says:

Nice post kev… I agree searching the lower leagues in England has to be done holding is proof of that, we also have to have a home grown quota (how many)? so it’s important.

I love how holding needs no introduction to the physical aspect of the premier league.. Costa snarled at him as he snarled right back.

As for who could leave this summer there is a possibility of 4 English lads who could go…

Theo( lazy and stagnant 20-25m), Jack (injury prone 15m) , Gibbs( 3rd choice now 7m), Jenkinson, (not good enough 2m)

That would leave Chambers, Holding, Chamberlain, Danny, Bramall… and maybe promote from within.

  3. Kel says:

I agree Rico.. in all honesty there is far better english defenders in the lower half of the prem or in the championship.

For example Michael Keane of Burnley.. or Harry Maguire from hull… not big names but better defenders than chambers just my opinion of course.. I’d like the lad to prove me wrong…

  4. rico says:

Just read we must have 8 home grown players in the squad over the age of 21.

    Right now we have:

Gibbs, Jenks, Bellerin, Wilshere, Holding, Martinez, Coquelin, Ramsey, Ox, Iwobi, Welbeck, Chambers, Akpom, Szczesny and Walcott.

So we can afford to offload a few of those and still be ok.

  5. Meerkat says:

    Morning all, (Ola)

Good opening post and it would be wonderful if we could compete going down that route. We need a mix don’t we, and to give some home grown talent from our own academy a look-in.
If they aren’t good enough we are doing something wrong there.

Disappointed to read that Thierry Henri has been critical again, he was my hero and I thought he would be more supportive, but heyho we can all speak our mind I suppose. He reckons they only raise their game for a Cup final

Arsene being French and a London club manager, may give us the edge in signing the lad Mbappe.

I hope Alexis sees where he is best off, getting a regular game instead of being in a galactic side being a benchwarmer half the season.

Agree with Kel re those we should get shot of. I would hold on to Giroud though (supersub) if he is happy to be with the club.

Ozil. What to do with Ozil? He will never be a blood, sweat and tears player for any club, so do we accept that? As I said the other day though, he is a crafty one and will likely run his contract down and go for free.

I hope Le Prof just gives his shopping list to the club, and lets them get on with it all, apart from some French sweet talking, and a cuddle for Mbappe perhaps!! Ma Cherie amour!

    Adios. Hasta la vista!!

  6. Meerkat says:

**”Club legend” Henry is not convinced that Wenger will do anything different in the next two seasons:

“They finished the season strong, although they have done that before. Raising yourself for the FA Cup final, to beat one team on one day is one thing. To do it over 38 games is a different story.

“Everyone is waiting for the title; the club, the players, the fans and Arsene himself. That’s what I want to see because raising your game for one day is one thing, but everybody is waiting for that to be done over 38 games.”

“He might buy one or two players having, as he’s claimed, created a dynamic to win the title finally. But I’ve heard that before, and the year before, and the year before.”

… and the year before the year before the year before unto the thirteenth season.**

  7. Kel says:

It certainly wouldn’t Rico… different games you need different attributes… the lack of that English grit has hurt us at times.. as recently as games like palace and West Brom…

Someone like a Keane or a Maguire imo could have been a big asset on a days like that. I’m not saying they’ll be first team players every week but they’d be useful imo.

  8. rico says:

Meerkat, I’m not surprised Henry is being critical tbh, and he has a point. Judging by what’s gone on this season, they can only get up for the Cup Final, either that or probably both, Arsene Wenger is the same. Why couldn’t he have got this group of players performing all season instead of just a handful of matches…?

    That’s the million dollar question..

Tony Adamsis another and he reckons Wengers Arsenal career could end in tears. I too think it might.

  9. rico says:

We’re in agreement there Kel. I’d love to see an all English defence again. Makes me realise how lucky we were backnin the days of the famous back five. They were darn good.

  10. optimist hablia says:

Great idea, looking through the lower league. Tammy’s surely another Rob, lots of the lad have massive potential.

  11. allezkev says:

Thanks for the edit Rico, tbh I’d forgotten about that one…

    Cheers Scott/Kel.

I noticed that Jorge Mendes copped a cool £7m commission, the other day, for his ‘work’ helping that goalkeeper who joined Man City?
I wonder what did he actually do to justify such a huge wad?

Now if FIFA want to do something positive (don’t all laugh) then limiting agents’ commissions would be a good start.

  12. bumba11 says:

    Morning all – Good read.

I think a mix up home grown and foreign is the only way it will ever be tbh. Yes, its nice having good young English talents, but you cannot simply ignore or pass up some from other countries.

With regards to the home grown rule, i didnt think we would be able to release so many. But from the list above (rico) i’d certainly look at getting Wilshere, Jenks, Chambers, Gibbs and Akpom out with Theo a possibility too. It would reduce the wage bill and keep us over the required quota.

Either way, all it is is wishful thinking as we all know the club wont do what we are all hoping….or am i being too pessimistic too early?!!

  13. ScottfromOz says:

I hope it’s true that we’ve offered 87 million, even if we don’t get him.
At least it’s a show of serious intent, and that’s a start.

  14. Kel says:

Is it though Scott. Or is it a bid designed to fail knowing we ain’t gettin him.. a bid to try and fool supporters into thinking we’re competing??

    Season tickets renewal anyone?

Or Maybe I’m completely off the mark… ?

  15. rico says:

Considering his market value is 38million euros according to transfer market, I’d say it’s intent too.

    Crazy money though…

  16. bumba11 says:

Does anyone know how much Madrid are chasing Mbappe? If they go all out i think they would get him, but this could free up Bale/Rodriguez or morata?

  17. Obi says:

    Good Read, Kev.

I remember the poster Devil always talked about the talent that exist in the lower divisions. I started watching the Championship on a regular basis about 4 years ago and indeed the talent is there and the football being played is often better than EPL.

But its not only the Championship but lower divisions everywhere, Agentina, Germany, Mexico, France for examples all have several talented players in lower divisions. Just think Kante and later Mbappe, 2 seasons ago, were offered to Arsenal, as unknowns, for a total of 17m.

I really believe that 3 superstars – a superb striker, midfield maestro and solid CB – plus 8 average hard working players can win the EPL. You don’t need 100m players to win EPL look at MU. Take Hazard out of Chelsea squad, everyone is under 50m player. Diego Costa went for 35m and scores for fun, etc….

  18. rico says:

Obi, the Arsene of old would have snapped both Kante and Mbappe up when they were unknown, why he didn’t is difficult to understand as he was once one of the best for spotting a young star in the making.

Add a top class goal keeper and I reckon you are not far wrong. The spine of the side is crucial and we haven’t had a really strong one for years.

  19. Obi says:

Rico, the change in AW is unbelievable!!! And to think that he actually sat with the kid and his parents in their house.

  20. rico says:

Hard to believe really Obi. Perhaps a deal was agreed though, but with the condition he stayed at Monaco for another season. I bit like Xhaka… 🙂

  21. frednerk says:

    Afternoon Rico and All

Never been sure what to make of all this players
we have sat down with and not signed.

The amount of world class players we could have signed
is probably why the Board have took a tug on Arsene.

Its like meeting a Beautiful Lady (In my case)
and not going back for coffee.

  22. rico says:

    Afternoon Fred.

    Nice analogy… lol

The odd thing is AW telling us about all those he nearly signed. Doesn’t really cover him in glory..

  23. frednerk says:

I’m really struggling these days not to mock
    every stupid comment he makes.
The fans that back Arsene do make me question myself
but for the life of me,I can’t believe a word he says anymore.

The only time I can remember digging someone out
this much,is when the Inland revenue kept asking for
    more..The Bastards.

  24. Le Coq Monster says:

Evening all and thanks Kev………..all that bench pressing bacon sarnies has helped with the grey matter !

I said ages ago about Hull`s Maguire looking rather decent and that was backed up by Keown who lavished praise on him and said we should get him for a steal !.

Mbappe !………more chance of me bribing the Queen with the erotic photos I have of her………she wore just a red and white rosette !…………………it`s like Kroenke going out in a Tornado with just blu tack to hold his syrup on, it just wont stick !.

  25. rico says:

Robert Pires has said that the most important thing now for Arsenal is to spend and sign some top players. Another mouth piece for the club..

  26. ScottfromOz says:

Kel, 87 million is one hell of a massive bluff if that’s true lol
Imagine their intent was to fail and the kid agreed?
Arsene and Stan would have simultaneous heart attacks lol
The thing about the Championship is players there are hungry.
They’re also hardened and seasoned as it’s a tough, competitive league.
Holding really is the prime example of what can potentially be found.
Even me, the optimist would not have dared imagine this kid would be so good, so soon.
The odd big signing, combined with a few more like him and we’d all be happy.

  27. allezkev says:

    Evening All, busy today.

Obi, the problem Arsenal always have when trying to pick up a young player from South America, Asia or Africa is always going to be issues with the work permit and tbh it’s not worth the aggro.

Not seen much of Maguire tbh or Keane, would either of them want to be 3rd, 4th or 5th choice at Arsenal after a taste of the EPL with Hull and Burnley?

That was the beauty with the Holding deal, it wax massive for him to move from Bolton in the lower divisions to the Prem. Hd was happy to wait his chance and now he’s on the cusp of an England call up.

Cocker, I bench pressed some fruit n fibre for breakfast ?
You should have seen my saltanas….

  28. rico says:

Probably not Kev having been first team players but you never know, they might push through past Koscienly and Mustafi…

I’m off guys, thanks for the post today Kev,p.

    Night all.

  29. Kel says:

Lol true Scott id love to see Stan and wengers face hahahaha.. Wenger would call in sick and Stan would head out on to his ranch for a week.. ?

Thing is though this yr I do feel it’s gonna be different regarding transfers. imo wenger has absolutely no more leeway with the vast majority of fans… no more empty promises, no more we couldn’t find the right quality.. etc…

Every excuse has been used at least twice by Wenger..

I still can’t forgive that window we didn’t sign a single outfield player…..

  30. ScottfromOz says:

Nobody, not even Arsene, could adequately explain that particular window, Kel.
We all sat back with Cech sorted and felt good about who else was coming in.
    That worked out well lol

  31. micko says:

Kel, the romancer’s on here will tell ya we were still up there in the hunt at Christmas and a couple of quality players in January would have seen us push on and compete for the title…..as usual it went tits up, gotta love Arsene and his throw away lines.

  32. gnarleygeorge9 says:

Wow! kev is on the front foot & im liking it!! Top post,

I think the trigger for me that old Frenchie is serious about winning the PL is that he actually off loads current players who are not in the equation for PL winning success. Otherwise it could be Groundhog Day………….again!!!!

Arsene is like the bloke on American Pickers who contacts Mike & Frank with the intent to sell some of his collection, but when it comes to the crunch can’t bring himself to selling. He has, for instance, a 33 year old Santi who it is time for someone else to enjoy, but can’t bring himself to part with.

Go on Arsene, just do it!!!!!!

  33. ScottfromOz says:

Santi was our best player before injury, GG, so there’s no way I’d let him go yet.

  34. allezkev says:

    Morning All

It’s cloudy but very very humid out here in darkest Essex.

Thanks GG, but I have to agree with Scott, I’d hang onto Santi for another year, he could be fit around November time and we all know about how Arsenal implode mid-season so having Santiago available could help against that.

Or am I being unrealistic and overly optimistic?

What do you think Mr Adam?

  35. Adam says:

Good morning Mr Allezkev. I would say that, on balance, you are eminently realistic. As you know, 33 is the new 30. Sports Science and I all that. 🙂

  36. rico says:

    ‘SANCHEZ, OZIL WON’T BE SOLD’

Arsene Wenger has again reiterated that Arsenal have no intention of selling Alexis Sanchez or Mesut Ozil.

“This summer, first of all they will stay at the club and hopefully we can extend their contract,” Wenger told beIN Sports.

When pressed further on whether either might be sold, Wenger replied “No. You cannot weaken the club and weaken the team. You want to strengthen the team. Unless you find a player of the same calibre and if they absolutely want to leave…

“I believe, at the moment, we’re not on that front. We’re focused on keeping the team together and to see how we can strengthen the team.”

  37. ScottfromOz says:

Rico, I don’t know many Arsenal fans who say he’s good enough, though.
I’ve always rated him but his attitude held him back.
Seems he’s on the right path so could well end up a great keeper.
    When’s his contract up?

  38. rico says:

By all accounts he’s improved a lot whilst at Roma Scott. Amazing what a different, perhaps better coach can do for a player. Are keeper coach is probably like the rest, in desperate need of replacing.

    No idea re his contract…

  39. ScottfromOz says:

Yeah I’ve heard he’s enjoying the keeper coaching at Roma.
Fresh blood and ideas are desperately needed.

  40. allezkev says:

Maybe we should bring in Lehmann as goalkeeper coach or an Italian.

I mean, what is Gerry Peyton going to teach Petr Cech ffs.

  41. Adam says:

Goalkeepers are interesting and different. Any top level ‘keeper should be a capable of the spectacular, full length save. But it’s the command of the box, including handling and of course distribution that counts. Plus of course the elusive consistency that sorts the greats from the rest. Ches made some sensational saves but was always a bit of an inconsistent knob. Perhaps that has changed. Whatever, the team simply must have a high degree of confidence so, when a centre or full back is in possession in a dangerous position, he doesn’t want to turn round and see the goalkeeper thrashing away a couple of yards behind him, miles off his line and dripping with misjudgement.
At their peak, Cech, Seaman and their like were all exceptional and trustworthy. After Almunia and Fabianski, the penny finally dropped with Arsene.

  42. rico says:

Funny isn’t it? I thought the club said it wasn’t going to let contracts go into their last season after Sagna left us…

  43. potter says:

Szczesny would have returned had Wenger gone but !
If you remember there was a spat between Wenger and Szczesny’s dad who was also a Polish international keeper, it soured their relationship. Every time he is interviewed he says how much he loves The Arsenal and only recently said that he would be back after his Roma loan and see what happens. What is likely though is he will be shipped out of the club as Wenger doesn’t forgive , just ask Cesc he’ll tell you.

  44. Le Coq Monster says:

    Afternoon all………..what`s new ?

From a gander at newsnow……….Wenger is looking at a maximum of 3 players brought in……………………….Big Tone told Arsenal to buy Eric Dier in 2012 when coaching the England Under somethings, told scout Rowley that he was head and shouders above the rest !………….The new Henry said Arsenal made a bid and Wenger likes Mahrez and he may or may not make a bid !.

  45. Le Coq Monster says:

Arsenal player wages, a few have gone and I could only find one missing…….Szczesny £45K per week.
If we are going to keep our best and bring in 3 quality players then some more have to leave to free up more wages for the better players !
My choice of players to save the money on are Debuchy, Jenks, Gibbs, Ospina, Campbell and Szczesny( I like him, but he could leave anyway)
That`s about £285K per week and doesn`t include Wheechair or Perez ( who`s agent say`s he wants to leave !)

    http://sillyseason.com/salary/arsenal-players-salaries-69062/

  46. Le Coq Monster says:

    Hahaha ……………….How could I forget about him !……………..aparrently he`s on £20k per week !
    😯

  47. Obi says:

Potter @ 2:59, I don’t think that the spat between AW and Szczesny would effect his decision to come back. At the time of the spat, Szczesny had not spoken to his father for over 2 years.

Szczesny admitted that he was really immature at Arsenal and needed to grow up. I think the problem now is Szczesny doesn’t want to be a #2 or the Europa keeper…lol.

  48. Le Coq Monster says:

Hi Rico………………….can we have something put up to celebrate our one week anniversary of winning the FA Cup ?……………………………still high as you can tell ! hahaha

  49. allezkev says:

Cocker, why don’t you write a post on the benefits of bench pressing as opposed to watching television? ?

  50. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    kev/Scotty too Hotty,

Don’t let your Santiment for 33 year olds get in the way of winning the PL. Besides, he may not fit in to the 3-4-3 style, so get something for him while he still has shelf life!

  51. ScottfromOz says:

    Its happening again in London!
This is no time for a political rant, but when the hell are your leaders going to do something?
People will be either too scared to leave their homes, or turn vigilante.
    Either way, it’s damn scary.
What a sad world we live in.

  52. gnarleygeorge9 says:

I had this Pathé film clip sent off for carbon testing. Apparently It came out 2 years after spurs last won the 1st Division title (as it was known way, way, way back then).

I was shocked when the tests came back 1963. That means they last won the Title back in 1961. Also that looks like Super Mac on sax, so it was obviously his father on sax, so that confirms it. Spurs have been shite for generations 🙂

  53. Le Coq Monster says:

Yes, Terrible news again, apart from putting barriers/bollards along every street in Britain, how can you stop aterrorist driving along pavements trying to kill pedestrians ?

GG………….1963 was the last time Spuds came 2nd until now !………………………and I`m sure Dave Clark 5 were a group of Spuds, most born around that shite hole !………next you will be putting a vid of Chas and Dave up ! 🙂

Put Spandau Ballet up………………a Gooner Group !.

  54. Le Coq Monster says:

Lots of early talk we are going to increase offer for Mbappe, but we all know one of the “rich” clubs who haven`t as much cash in the bank as us will blow us out of the water !……………how many years now have we all been saying lets make a statement of intent !

  56. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    Le Cornwall

I knew Dave Clark 5 were from Tottenham. One of my old work mates on site @ Kensington Palace Green was in a band from Peckham back in the day, & when the DC5 played in their patch they had a brawl & pissed them off back to Tottenham?

As for Muslims, my boys won a gutsy game last night & Bachar Houli played a blinder, even during Ramadan. There are fuckwits in all corners of society. I judge a person by the amount of respect & dignity they show me, not by their religion!

  57. Le Coq Monster says:

Unfortunately GG , certain sects of the Muslim community are not showing any amount of respect to the country they are living in. Until the world gets to realise that the Wahhabi Muslim faith has no allegiance to nationality and that their passports mean nothing .We will not start to address the problem of fundamentalism.

  59. Le Coq Monster says:

Massive breaking news all over newsnow !!!………………

Thanks for that bit of insight into the former night life of certain HHers ?

    It’s simply one sad world!!!

  62. Le Coq Monster says:

  63. Marshall says:

There has been questions on who’d replace Cazorla and after watching the final yesterday, Isco is the natural heir – he has been since Malaga. We can tempt Real as they don’t rely on him (kroos and modric are ahead of him in the mid, so is Casemiro *sp) plus the allure of more game time should tip the scales in our favor.

I really would like Isco as our creative midfielder….

Seems like Mbappe will be our player of TW this summer.

  64. rico says:

    Afternoon all.

I was going to put a post up today but somehow, football yet again seems irrelevant…

It’s a sad and awful world we live in….

  65. rico says:

Perhaps it’s best to keep our personal religious views off of HH. Arsenal divide us enough, let alone bringing religion onto the blog…

  66. Obi says:

    Hi All:
IMHO, it’s not all about religion, but about the mind set of certain groups using religion/ philosophy as a medium for their sick ideas/ motives. Not all Muslims are terrorists, and terrorists have killed more Muslims than any other sect of people around the world. Until reasonable and civilized people realize that terrorists have total disregard for ALL humanity nothing will be solve. The world need to take religion out of the debate and go after these sick minded groups.

Btw LC, science/ theories do not answer all the questions either. it is even more gullible to think only monkeys evolved into humans, but cats didn’t evolve into tigers…..and why didn’t all monkeys apes evolved……btw I would love to evolved into a flying human so I don’t have to drive….. oh well let’s just live.

  67. Marshall says:

Let me throw this one out there. If we miss out on Mbappe; and PEA, Lacazette and Moratta are available at £60M which striker would anyone on here prefer of the three…

    Mine’s PEA

  68. ScottfromOz says:

Obi, nothing surprises me at Arsenal any more 🙂
    Rico, you’re right.
Football is why we are here.

  69. Le Coq Monster says:

Obi, I must have evolved as my feet still haven`t left the ground since last Saturday !

Being greedy I`d take all of the aforementioned players !

Like you lot (I presume)…………..you`re Mbappe………….an Arsenal fan (presumed because of photo of him in Arsenal shirt)………………Arsenal come calling…..there`s only one choice, the team you love !………………we`d all do it wouldn`t we, even if the “rich” clubs offer more !

So what changes when an Arsenal fan becomes a footballer ?………….I dont get it……Kane, Cole, Smalling, Bale, Mkhityran etc etc etc

Would any of you sign for anyone else ?……………….how many more thousand pounds do you need to live on ?

Give us this day our daily rumour,
    and give us our transfers,
as we forgive those who transfer against us,
and lead us not into relegation,
    but deliver us from Kroenke.
For thine is the League Title,
the Champions League and FA Cup,
    for ever and ever
    Up the Arsenal

    Afternoon All

Totally agree Rico, not that there’s much to write about.
The best answer is to just live your life to best you can without harming anyone else.
Carry on as normal as the bad people hate that more than they hate our freedoms and our tolerance.

Mbappe eh, it’s a nice thought and I guess you never know, but I’ll believe it when it happens.
Arda Turan, we keep on being linked to this geezer, and even before he joined Barcelona, is he any good because I’ve never seen him play?

Aubangayang or whatever, at £60 million must be a possibility, he is a big unit and lot more mobile than Giroud, who I think is worth more than £22million in this hyper-inflated market.
If the Mbappe pursuit proves fruitless, then PEA must be a good alternative. I just hope that Wenger doesn’t faff about and fall between two stools as he did with Higuain and Suarez.

I actually watching the FACup final again, it’s a great match.

There was a time Kev when I’d have loved us to sign Turan but that was long ago and before HH existed but now, I think he’d be a strange signing, certainly not one I’d expect AW to make…

  73. Obi says:

I wouldn’t sign Turan. Atm, Ox is better and more versatile than Turan, and Elnery is a better workhorse. If we are willing to pay 60m for PEA, why not pay 45-50m for Aguero or 60m Lukaku proven EPL players. I don’t think PEA is an EPL quality player, when he plays in AFCON he tends to struggle with physical contact and he also require a lot of service which he has had at Dortmund. For 60m am going after Silva at Benifca, the kid abilities are audacious and I believe he’s only 21.

    Afternoon all.

    Sad times again in London.

I do t honestly believe we will get Mbappe and personally I’d rather we spent a little less and went for PEA. I do like him and think his pace and mobility could really cause problems. My opinion of course. I’d take M apps if we got him mind, I won’t look a gift horse in the mouth!

Just back from the gym having bench pressed the equivalent of a lunch time time sales of Pie&Mash !………………………………..I`d like to take on Kev, Adam and Lee to see who can eat the most Pie&Mash in a contest ……………………with loser paying the bill ! ……………………..it aint going to be me as I`m a Pie&Mash anomaly beast ! hahaha

Shit, I shouldn`t have said that, as I`ve wasted my element of surprise !……………………no no no, I couldn`t manage even one Pie&Mash !

Monkeys have tails and apes do not , so you are right in the sense that humans did not evolve from monkeys. Apes however different thing , I believe that the Darwin theory has more credence than that of any religion.

  77. Joaquim Moreira says:

Silva is Bernardo Silva? He was a Benfica player. Last year was in Monaco. Next yaer, in Manchester City.
Campbell (on sporting loan) probably sell to Galastasay (3 million ?)

  78. Marshall says:

Aguero’s name popped up. Mind you he is my favorite striker but I don’t see city selling to a rival – smart clubs don’t do that.

2nd, I don’t see us matching his basic of a quarter million per week let alone increase it to ‘motivate’ him.

3rd – this is on a technical front, he’s more like Sanchez. Both are great finishers but more often they like to take on their markers (might be a south american thing) which as we know sometimes slows our attack. -guess tis the same reason Pep has been under utilizing him.

Imo arsenal need a one touch (in the box) pacey striker like Kane or Vardy – when he was scoring for fun.

Still Kun could tuck away a dozen of those chances that goes begging.

  79. Marshall says:

Das Bost had a massive season from Sporting. We could probably look at him – when our grade A targets prove too expensive.

  80. Obi says:

Rico I think Pep will let him go for the right price and if he finds a replacement because Jesus is his man…

  81. rico says:

Apparently they are to play together Obi, that was from the board I believe. As you say though, the right price and all that…

  82. allezkev says:

That’s it, June 30th, Yaya Sanogo will be released.
The first of half-a-dozen I suspect, closely followed by Debuchy, Gibbs, Jenkinson, Perez (sadly), Ospina, Szcesesny (probably) and a clutch of reserves who’ve spent last season on loan.

  83. ScottfromOz says:

    Morning all.
Today, I received a lovely surprise in the mail.
From Arsenal FC, via Royal Mail, then Australia Post, a 10 feet wide banner arrived, for me to put up at our venue when the FA Cup between Arsenal and Chelsea was played.
As an official Supporters club rep, I thought it was a wonderful gesture.
Of course, better late than never lol
    Unbelievable!!

  84. rico says:

    Morning all.

I’m still hoping Perez has an Arsenal future Kev, but if Wenger isn’t going to play him, then I guess not…

  85. ScottfromOz says:

Did you see the Sun’s front page and headline???
Jihadi killer in an Arsenal shirt!!
    Yep, that’s the headline!
What low breed scum would use such a horrid act to take a potshot at ANY football club???

  86. ScottfromOz says:

Rico, I’m amazed any newspaper would be so ridiculously insensitive under the circumstances.
    Simply disgusting.

  87. rico says:

Scott, youvare talking about The Sun. They are the worst, barring the Star I think… scumbags indeed..
