Sami Khedira wants to join Ozil. Flamini planned or just good luck?

Morning all.

According to The Daily Mirror, sources in Madrid believe Sami Khedira, the Real and Germany midfield anchorman, would like to follow Ozil to the Emirates Stadium.

The same paper believes we are going to try and sign Wayne Rooney in January and we’re set to offer £40 million for him.

Both players have just 18 months left on their current contracts.

I know nothing about Khediria as I try not to watch Real Madrid but Iv’e seen enough of Wayne Rooney to believe he’d be perfect for us.

January is a long way off but it could very well be a productive transfer window as Arsene Wenger still has money to spend….

Well the dust has finally settled on what was a traumatic Summer Transfer Window.

The season is well under way, so maybe we can look back at the summer and see it in a less emotional state (where’s my fiver rico?)…

For me, the signing of Suarez would have been sensational. That transfer alone would have made it a satisfactory summer, as I felt that we needed a world class striker to finish off all the amazing approach play that the team constructed…

Although initially Higuain did seem a move in the right direction, Suarez was a real step-up in class, a quality player who really excited me.

Of course Liverpool held their nerve and resolve in the face of Arsenal’s huge but ultimately tactless bid of £40 million + £1. What ‘brain cell’ in the management team dreamt that one up?

Time was running out. The ‘natives’ were getting restless and Arsene had to pull something out of his hat. The rabbit he produced was Mesut Ozil and at a club transfer record of £42.4 million.

Was that deal planned???

Or was it expediency to ward off a fans revolt???

It was a coup all the same and planned or not it was a brilliant piece of PR for the club, manager, CEO and even Kroenke…

It lifted everyone, the fans of course, the players, staff, everyone connected to the club. It was the biggest transfer to Arsenal since Sol Campbell. But it had the effect on the clubs psychology similar to the effects we felt when first David Platt, then Dennis Bergkamp arrived in the summer of 1995.

It meant, on the face of it, that Arsenal meant business (at last).

Jovetic, Higuain, Capoue, Di Maria etc, were all quickly forgotten. We had arguably the best exponent of his position in world football. Everyone knew it, Real Madrid realised their gaff, and players around the world, who had previously viewed a move to Arsenal as ‘sideways’ or even ‘backwards’ suddenly saw Arsenal as going places…

Five successive wins, despite our annual injury crisis, have seen us top the EPL and qualify for the Champions League Group Stages.

Even Mourinho’s decision to block Demba Ba’s loan move can be seen as a positive, psychologically. Mourinho obviously didn’t intend it to be so, but he has sent out a message that he fears Arsenal and sees us as serious competitors. Yes, that decision has left us short up front and you have to question why there was no other alternatives lined up. There is certainly a clear frustration, no doubt, when the prospect of Suarez, becomes the reality of Bendtner?!!!

But there is a belief in this team that we can see, growing within the squad, a belief that I first witnessed last season at Anfield and Upton Park. There is a consistency of performance, a determination, a resilience, dare I say the early signs of a winning mentality…

Yes, there is a long way to go and a lot can still go wrong. That deflating defeat that I saw at Carrow Road last season still lingers in my memory.

The talented and promising  youngsters that we have in the squad, will have to step up to the plate and do their bit, maybe sooner than later?

Arsenal still have to face up to the Top Three. Still have to take points off of them, beat them, but I am a lot more optimistic of that prospect than I was just a month ago.

Flamini has the makings of a smart signing, Sanogo, well the jury is out?

Was Flamini planned? Or just good luck??

Well maybe we’re due some luck…

The transfer rumours are already starting?? Oh god… The dust hadn’t even settled after the summer, and now we are bound to hear new rumours every day for the next 3 months.

  2. BrainwashedKev says:

Morning Scott, glad you enjoyed it Digger.

Yes Rico, consider your wrist slapped 🙂
    Thanks for the edit.

Gotta say boss, I just cannot see Rooney in an Arsenal shirt.

But Sami Khadeira, yeah, bring it on mate….

And maybe a Bender or two. 😉

Oh, and Reus, we want him.

Mein Gott, ve are der Gunners… 😀

  3. rico says:

Ahhhhhh – hoorah, Allezkev is back and in fine form.

    Really good read Kev…

Re Flamini, think I read that he turned down at least Milan to join us so I guess that hints at this being planned, for him at least.

But, since then, he has said he’d welcome a return to France, so we may just be a stop gap. However, if we and he is doing well, I can see him staying beyond than his current contract.

As for Ozil, according to reports in the Mirror, had Ozil not been so willing to sign, AW was going to make a move for Hernanes of Lazio…

  4. SD_UK says:

Flamini was planned all day long.

    Morning all!!

But Ozil was a jackpot and Wenger himself couldn’t believe
Real Madrid will sell but they needed morning.

I think if we go back to Madrid in January , we could still get some good bargains.

Who knows Ozil could do some Taping up for us, maybe Sami Khedira was his best friend in the Madrid and he has been telling him what a wonderful place Arsenal his.

By the way , Bale scored for Madrid but they drew but we won. Ozil still looking like a bargain 🙂

How Chelsea did not win makes me have an open heart in this title race. (Jose Mo was almost speachless)

  5. rico says:

Morning Kev, always a pleasure.. I’ll give you your fiver in October 😉

I can see Rooney in an Arsenal shirt, he suits red… I suspect he’ll stay in Manchester though, unless colon wants to move south..

What role does Khadeira play, defensive, box to box or another attacking player – if it’s the latter, I just can’t see us getting him…

  6. rico says:

SD – Real rip us off, we should steer clear, plenty more fish in the sea..

No Scott, what makes you think that 😉

Phil, think we may already have our keepers, Ches and the Italian whose name I forget. Sadly for Fabianski, I think his days are numbered…

Definitely a top top striker, he has to be the next in the door and for me, a right sided CB next…

  7. tsgh says:

Hmm, signing Khedira in future will be like buying a pair of shoe you know you do not need.

Khedira I would have taken in June, but based on the form of Ramsey and JW plus the new role of TR07 who will most probably get another 2 years contract I would say lets make my buddies at BVB an offer they can’t refuse for M Reus…

I see Khedira as another Ramsey but with less discipline.

Currently he is behind Asier and the ex-sperds man in the RM setup. He is neither DM or box to box… maybe just an all round very good midfielder who went to the wrong club and never quite achieved his potential…

I think for the krauts he has fallen behind Kroos in the other holding role next to Schweinsteiger which is a shame…

  8. SD_UK says:

Khedira is a very good midfielder and has the winning mentality sure he is behind Schweinsteiger but can still stand shoulder to shoulder with Kroos.

But I think if RM had sold him instead of Ozil, the fans wouldn’t have complained but nope, they sold Ozil.

How many Bale shirts have they sold so far, does anyone knows ?

How they paid £85 million for a player that has only played Champions League once is beyond believe.

Did the BFG give Ozil the bug ? Was it Kebab ?

  9. rico says:

SD, Merts says he got his bug whilst away with Germany so it could have been something in their camp, or even on the plane, air con spreads disease like wild fire…

  10. tsgh says:

Scott you are still gleeing about the 3/4 fit Ozil… wait until he is 90%.lol

SD I like Khedira a lot but I think he would EXPECT to start if we were to sign him… it will be unfair on players like Ramsey and TR07 who have stuck around… don’t forget Diaby will come back in January and play 3 games to earn his dues too… lol

  11. BrainwashedKev says:

    Morning All….

Morning Adam, I don’t know what came over me…. 😀
I had a couple of moments of optimism over the weekend mate. 😉

Thanks Ginge. Rico has one from me that’ll you’ll enjoy latet this week.

  12. Adam says:

Steady on Kev. I sensed the optimism coursing through you though after that Hoxton pie and mash. Must be in anticipation of The Ark later this week. 🙂

  13. Steve says:

I love all the positive vibes at the moment. However I thought we lacked some of our defensive discipline at times on Saturday. We seemed more open at the back and we weren’t always pressing the ball, as we have been of late. These days I look at the team and think I can see Steve Bould’s influence. On Saturday I looked at the way we played and thought ” bloody international break, Wenger must have done it all on Friday.”

  14. Scott from Ozil says:

Ginge, i was more excited how easily he slotted in though.
Hardly looked a player making his debut, did he 🙂
    Truly a sensational player.

  15. Scott from Ozil says:

Steve, Merts missing, Sagna playing a relatively new position and no Arteta can help explain those issues though.

  16. Scott from Ozil says:

    I am off guys.
Still recovering from a massive night…..
Rico, make tomorrow a topic to remember 🙂
    Have a great day guys.

  17. SD_UK says:

    Good point tsgh!

But Ramsey and Co will only get better if they know there is competition in the team , real competition.

It can only inspire them and they are sure for the future because they are young .

We don’t want another Fabregas in our side that starts feeling invincible and big headed at 24yrs because he was the main man.

I will give them competition anytime.

  18. Adam says:

Am I alone in thinking that RVP saying he wants to stay at Man Utd for longer than his 3 remaining years actually means he wants to go?

  19. SD_UK says:

Adam, RVP is going nowhere, nobody is going to pay him that kind of salary outside PL and by the time he ends his contract, he will be well of age .

Unless he falls out with Moyes or just gets the Rooney syndrome, he is not leaving the Manures.

  20. BrainwashedKev says:

RVP leaving ManUre, Adam, that’s an interesting view…

    What is he now, 30…?

Into the 2nd year of a 4 year deal. So he’ll be almost 33 when it expires….

Whose gonna pay him £200k pw when he’s 33…???

If the Mancs put him on the market next summer, in ordet to lose his salery, how much would he fetch…?

    £8/£10 million perhaps???

    Maybe less…..

  21. Woody says:

I think that depends who’s buying – did Eto cost anything?

He’s about that age, but I personally think the RVP can go on longer because he’s never relied on pace.

It’s all about ability with him. Remember Bergkamp went on until 35? based on pure ability.

Although he’s a different player to RVP neither have pace and most forward drop when they lose their pace.

    Just look at Owen!

  22. BrainwashedKev says:

    RVP to the Bridge?

Maybe Mourinho would see him as a youthful successor to Eto’o…?

I still think it’s worth a cheeky bid for Lewandowski in January….

    Money talks!

  23. emma says:

    Afternoon all,
    kev is back. Good post

We all remember Luiz Gustavo? The lad who we all clamour to be our DM and let down will lose out on him
The lad has being sent off 2 of 3 matches he has played for Wolfsburgs. Looks like we dodged a big bullet there

  24. emma says:

    Afternoon all,

We all remember Luiz Gustavo? The lad who we all clamour to be our DM and felt let down when we lose out on him
The lad has being sent off 2 of 3 matches he has played for Wolfsburgs. Looks like we dodged a big bullet there

  25. BrainwashedKev says:

Rico, the Press/Media keep on repeating those vacuous stories about Ozil and the Mancs, because they can no longer berate us about not spending…

I mean, bless the poor darlings, this wasn’t supposed to happen.

Arsenal at the top of the table. A record signing 2nd only to Torres’ move to the Chavs. All those ‘Arsenal in crisis’ stories thrown into the bin…

I mean, what can an alcoholic hack do with no shit-stirring ammunition to throw at us?!!!

Maybe writing something worth reading and true would be a start I suppose?

  26. rico says:

Certainly wouldn’t want RvP back at Arsenal…. would we….

It’s worth a try Kev, but he’s got his heart set on Bayern hasn’t he?

Money does talk though and never say never….

emma – he’s just in the wrong league 😉

  27. rico says:

I guess you are right Kev, sad really isn’t it….

I really hope Ozil’s family sue, and win their case and get mega payouts…

  28. BrainwashedKev says:

    Emma, i’m a football fan.

You know, that equates to superstitious…

Whilst we’re doing well, allez will stay in his box… 😉

  29. emma says:

Quite a revelation by ex-referee Mark hasley that he sent text to Fergie breaching code of conduct. I wonder how many more ref were doing same or probably making or taking fergies call for 3pts thru the years he won the league.

RvP already looking for contract extension. I doubt he will get one. Waiting for ages for his 6months lay-off. 🙁

  30. agirlagunner says:

Boo!! Now, this is more like the AK we know. 😀 Great post. Who won the fiver again? 😉

    Hiya, rico! 🙂 Howdy?

  31. BrainwashedKev says:

I’m sure they’ll sue if they think they can win…

Personally I hope they don’t, I want Mesut to totally focus on Arsenal and not the Courts.
And we want to keep Real sweet, and see if we can nick a few more of their players.

  32. emma says:

    Bkev – love that 😉

SD – I doubt that will help. Walcott just needs to stop firing those salvos directly at the keeper when he gets into those positions. He could have gotten to double figures in all competitions. Probably he needs to take lessons from Henry if available to us in January. The longer he continues in this loop(missing chances we should be taken) the more it will affect him psychologically in front of goal

  33. Adam says:

The news of the Fergie/Halsey collusion doesn’t surprise me at all. Many other refs would have received their instructions in this way I imagine. Ferguson and the MU press will soon begin their re-writing of history I predict in an effort to make sure Old Watney Rash is elevated to an unassailable position in the glorious history of England’s greatest club. Triumph out of tragedy and all that.

  34. rico says:

It’s his father and other family Kev, I read he wants to sue the newspapers who make up the stories about him wanting to go to Manure and we were not his first choice..

Nothing to do with Real as far as I can make out…

  35. rico says:

England old boy Peter Barnes reckon he’d need only five minutes to turn TW into a wizard on the wing..

I think he has a point in what he says…

    Sign him up Arsene 😉

  36. Adam says:

Well, give him 5 minutes anyway. So many ex-players achieve wisdom after their playing days,
What’s next? Paolo Di Canio -Zionist?

  37. devilgunner says:

    Adam…………..

    Paolo di Canio….Zionist????

    Hmmmmm.

Graeme Souness philosphizes the very essence of existence?

Stuart Robson reminiscing about the teachings of Aristotle?

Paul Gascoigne reflecting upon the philosophy of teetotallers?

Or Andy Gray imparting his wisdom on the mental effects of Kama Sutra??

Good Afternoon Lady, Sir, Gentlemen and Ladies.

Fine post Fiver boy. Speaking of fivers, I used to think that winners were presented with their prize when they won. So the fiver is due to be increased with 14 days interest.

Will we get a presentation photo of the occasion?

  38. emma says:

Khedira? We’ve got enough in the midfield. Priority is to strengthen the attack. I will leave that to Wenger to worry about. But would love to have Reus or probably if Lewandowski changes his mind in the summer. With the presence of Ozil, I believe we can get a top top top super quality striker 😉

  39. rico says:

Ha ha Sd, the way he is going, you won’t have to wait to long to hear it…

Afternoon Devil, I think it’s me who is owed the fiver…

  40. BrainwashedKev says:

I sense some re-writing of history going on here….

    Fivernomics in other words… 🙂

Hiya Agag, I never went away, I just wanted our club to show some balls in the transfer market.
Ambition, intent, start acting like a big club again…

We’re still not there yet, but I feel that penny may have dropped at last…

  41. agirlagunner says:

    Dev, haha. Chicken feed. 😀

Adam, I consider myself on extended hols. 😀 Off to Thailand next week. Yay!!

  42. agirlagunner says:

Kev,took the club long enough. But AW isn’t used to dropping so many pennies in one go. 😀 £42 million, wow! I hope he does it again.

  43. rico says:

    Probably Devil 😉

Off out with Fido now, back in an hour or so. As long as the wind doesn’t blow us all away… 😉

  44. tsgh says:

Steve, I agree with your sentiments on the teams defensive discipline etc. at 11:23

I made a similar comment saying how desperate we look without either Arteta or Panzer BFG in the side…

On the other hand I think we underestimate the work ethics of Altidore and the difficulty teams face in modern times when they face a 2 prong attack…

Central defenders especially ours are becoming very unconvincing when they face 2 v 2 situations as most teams play with a 1 man attack.

As I mentioned yesterday, I think Flamini brings a lot to the table/team but his all action persona is very much like having a 19/21 year old Frimpong in the side.

Arteta ensures we retain possession too.

I must also add that this ‘lucky’ win (albeit theo should have taken us 5-0 before half time) shows that having Ozil, JW, Theo offering very little tactical defensive involvement is not going to work against better teams.

In my view it paramount we do not offer 3 players a free role. Players like TR07 define and influence how our team performs even though he might not be everyone’s cup of tea…

kev, I look forward to your next post…

  45. agirlagunner says:

Funds are running low though, Adam. 😀 Have you taken Mrs Adam on hols yet? 😛

You can buy a good chocolate bar, rico. 😛

  46. c2hills says:

    Afternoon all.

…prospect of Suarez becomes the reality of Bendtner…I certainly would love to be brainwashed. Very nice post, Kev.

Rico 10:04am: Apparently, Rooney is married to one of his organs. Maybe that’ld explain his behaviour.

  47. emma says:

Team news: Who is fit to face Marseille?

Arsène Wenger has revealed the following team news ahead of the Champions League game in Marseille:

    on Olivier Giroud….
We have a few problems. Some with Ozil but the main one is Giroud, who has a knee problem. He will have a test tomorrow and hopefully he will be fit. But it will only be decided tomorrow.

on options up front if Giroud is ruled out…
I have not really thought about it that much but the obvious solution is Walcott. We’ll see.

    on Per Mertesacker…
There is good news. Mertesacker will be available again after illness.

    on Mesut Ozil…
He was ill and has some tight muscles after Saturday. But I think he will be OK. We are optimistic.

  48. tsgh says:

    Hi Agag,

I totally agree with you… his lack of fitness most probably contributed to his injury.. he was definitely looking over 30 football-wise.

Flamini has now received 2 yellow cards in 3 halves of playing for us, if that run continues he will be suspended in 8 games time…

I preferred the TR07 and Ramsey axis to be honest with you. Bearing in mind Ramsey will need a rest soon as he has played more than 10 games since July and finished the whole 90 minutges in all but 3 I think we need to keep an eye on him before we face teams like Yanited, Chelsea and $hitty

    Hi CH…

  49. emma says:

tsgh – I prefer TR7 and Ramsey pivot as well. Both are intelligent and tactically discipline defensively and offensively. I would prefer that pivot in the big matches

  50. stevepalmer1 says:

Afternoon all, A post from the past , an Optimistic Brainwashed AK, I still dont think the real AK is back firering yet, and i get the feeling that your not too sure of how you see the future. Is Wenger the man to lead us, has anything changed at the club, The Ozil 42 million signing has changed very little, One actual signing and 2 free signings and a loaner, Wenger has not changed at all. Arsenal has not changed either, so what has changed your mind AK. I know that supporters are a little happier because were top of the league, but apart from the Spuds we havent played anyone of note yet. You asked in your post was any of the transfer window planned in advanced but i get the impression from your post that deap down you think its luck. I on the other hand think its been planned for 8 years. I think we have come through tough times, and i think we have been arsehole lucky to do what we have done on a shoestring budget. Wenger has been hounded because of his frugal spending, and many, as i think you were one wouldn’t have minded a change in leadership. We may still get one yet. I personall liked your post and what you have written is true for a lot of supporters. Wenger was always going to spend this window as we all know if he hadn’t he would surely have been hounded out, but has the floodgates now been opened, i dont think so. He knows we were short in the striker dept but did he buy No apart from a free Sanogo. He must have struggled to spend that 42 mill and i think he will struggle to spend another 40 in January. but it is good to hear you positive, but we still need a lot of luck.

  51. Adam says:

Agag. Afraid not. A quick few days in Amsterdam early next month and perhaps she will go to Greece to visit her friend soon.

  52. tsgh says:

CH- Pray for a brother man… its getting hard with the new regime at home. 😀

I normally watch us, BVB, Juve, the Bavarians and maybe a french match plus Milan but this weekend I watched only BVB 09 and ours… a re-run of BM some small bits of RM and Juve..

The Mrs wants me to ditch foottball… I told her I either watched football or found myself a mistress… :0

  53. agirlagunner says:

Ginge, I must say, I wasn’t keen on signing Flamini because of that rancorous transfer when he left us in a lurch; and like you, I think he needs to calm down a bit. But… there’s a certain kind of steeliness in our midfield with him. I like that. We are frequently bullied all too easily, it’s good to see some of ours doing the bullying for a change

    Hi, C2hills!

  54. tsgh says:

Your have a solid point with MF’s ‘steel’ Agag.

I just find some of his tackles borderline desperate. At 29 y.o, 2 footed tackles against any team with a Fergie-rent boy ref officiating could result in us playing 65 minutes 10 v 11. We are already short of bodies and 1 or 2 players need resting especially Ramsey and your boy OG12…; I just thing he needs to calm play a bit especially coming from Serie A…

    I guess one can’t have it all…

  55. tsgh says:

John Cross: “It’s interesting that last season when players needed to be moved around it was he who was moved out to the left. But at Sunderland on Saturday it was Jack Wilshere who was shifted.

“Ramsey has moved right to the very top of the list – it’s Ramsey, Ozil and one other [in Arsenal’s midfield]. He’s playing out of his skin.”

  56. c2hills says:

Ginge, maybe she is right about watching less matches. You don’t want to become a manager, do you?

Hi Agag, what’s the latest in lady shoes?

  57. tsgh says:

    😀 Ch… you traitor.

You are right though.. I do not want to become a manager true… I thought I was getting my money’s worth…

There is too much football on TV currently….

  58. agirlagunner says:

Ginge, I’m sure AW has had a word in Flamini’s ear about the rash challenges. He looks up for it; and that can only be good for us.

C2hills, as for shoes, there are some great ones and some fugly ones. 😛 Haven’t been spending though. 😉

emma, Mike Jumping Dean haaaates us, I am a little concerned.

  59. tsgh says:

I guess the higher bodies expect Moyes to lose the Manchester derby so it will be disastrous if we went 5 points ahead in the league now if we are to win at Stoke Rugby grounds…

  60. rico says:

Afternoon Adam, it’s sunny here now, we just got caught in heck of a downpour, Fido didn’t mind though, she just yapped and chased her ball…

  61. rico says:

useroz, – how would the club benefit if they sacked AW now??

It would destroy everything that is going on right now imho..

  62. cork gunner says:

I wouldn’t like to think where we would be if we were under different management the last 8 years, building a new stadium, rigid wage structure, forced to sell ur best players.fans who want wenger out need to look at the bigger picture.ive been really frustrated by wenger and the board the last few years but after spending 42 mil on one player they deserve a lot of credit. I think we might see 2 more top signings by next summer and in my opinion we’ll then able to mount serious challenges in all competitions.give moyes, avb, rogers or even the special one wengers budget the last 8 years and I bet none of them would have made cl every year

  63. devilgunner says:

Something for you all to enjoy………it should have been with us though. Imagine 400 goals all of them for one club!!!!!

  64. potter says:

It’s an old chestnut but , way back when , at the time we had Fabregas and Rvp we didn’t need to spend megabucks on top top players just average prices for good ones. That’s where the board and Wenger failed us because with just a small investment which was available we could have nipped this trophy drought in the bud and could have reached the financial splurge that we have just witnessed earlier.

  65. devilgunner says:

CG………thinking it that way gives me shivers. Imagine any other coach.

Would Mourinho or SAF be able to do the same as AW with the same conditions???

  66. rico says:

That’s my gripe too potter – we should have built a strong squad around Cesc but didn’t, and then AW had the chance to do so when RvP was fit but again, he didn’t..

Who knows what we could have won had he done so…

Over the last 5/6 years we have always been 2/3 quality players away from being a really strong squad.

    We still are today…

  67. GunnerDNA says:

Its crazy bro, some people just don’t understand that the decision they make in life is a choice, i feel for the families who lost their love ones. Watching the game, Laudrup tactics is suspect.

  68. tsgh says:

All the programming desperate men and women are conned into, mate…

Dna, funny you are questioning Laudrup’s tactics… I always said fans who called for him to replace AW to wait and see… he has failed in his 2nd season at almost every club he has been with…

He has a very strong squad but he is being found out I am afraid…

Another WC no.10 who things because he was WC he can be a WC manager.

  69. emma says:

Jonjo Shelvey : 1 goal 2 assist in the first half. Great player
Landrup is being found out now. For those clamouring for him to become wenger successor, they will now think deep and know he is not good enough.

  70. Judge me in May says:

I thought Swansea did very well in the second half, jojo made two deadly mistakes.. Laudrup could do nothing about it imo..
Saying that I don’t think he is ready for a club like Arsenal.. But he has all the ingredients..
actually jojo had a very good game otherwise, ironically the stats says he is man of the match..
That’s why stats can be deceiving..
Our home game against the dippers last season comes to mind. We drew 2/2..
comical defending cost us 2 points..

Don’t quite understand the Michael Laudrup bashing, a young manager making his way in the game, playing football the right way, finishing top half of the PL league last season with a cup final and silverware to boot.
Four games into the new season and ‘being found out’ ….really !
May not be AFC material but give the guy a break.

Emma 9.01, exactly why statistic’s should be taken with a pinch of salt.

tsgh, so flamini could be suspended in 8 games time eh, that’s more games than the French Messiah Diaby plays in a season for us, I know who I prefer.

  72. Adam says:

Micko. I agree with you. Wo looked like they had been “found out” after 60 minutes? It wasn’t Laudrup.
Some people just have to be able to tell the future. The present just isn’t good enough.

  73. Scott from Ozil says:

    Hi Micko,
i am not sure people are bashing him.
More like “bashing” those who wanted him in at the expense of Wenger.
    I like Flamini.
He gives a bit of starch when needed and we have missed that type of player for a while now.
    Diaby…..what a wasted talent.

  74. Scott from Ozil says:

Adam, i can not even guess what happened in the past, so the present and future are a complete mystery to me 🙂

  75. Micko says:

Maybe I’ve just had a bad day Adam, but strangely enough I do find myself agreeing with Corkgunner at 7.01, if it wasn’t for Arsene we’d probably be battling it out with Rochdale in League 2 this weekend instead of Stoke, we are a fickle lot.
    Nite all, till tomorrow.

  76. Scott from Ozil says:

We will never know where we’d be without Wenger at the helm for the last 6-8 years.
No doubt some believe we would have won plenty, while others agree we would be struggling.
Still, he is there and has his chance to show he still has the ability to win trophies.
At the very least, we have had a better start to the season than we have for several years, a record signing and plenty to look forward to.
Adam, of my several hundred predictions, i only ever got one right, and bless Ramsey for breaking my drought 🙂

  77. managershola says:

to say d fat in dis season nobdy wil stp arsneal nt 2 lift trophy am nt arsenal fans b4 bt now i support dem even b4 sgn of ozil i personal knw dat dey have somtin to lift up

  78. BrainwashedKev says:

Stevo, I have done my best to stay positive these past 8 potless years, but last season was the straw that broke the camels back….

There ‘has’ been money to spend during this period.
I simply do not, will not, believe that a tad more ambition in the transfer market was not possible…

Steve, you are not a stupid man, of that I am certain, of that I know for certain…. Surely you must agree that Wenger and the clubs transfer policy has been flawed and far too conservative, in the extreme, during the last 8 years..

It simply has not been good enough to charge such high admission prices whilst spending such paltry amounts on some pretty average players…

I also do not agree with you on the ‘long term plan’ theory either.

If there was a plan, it has failed, because the plan, as it was, was to build a young team from scratch.
That failed as we kept losing our best players as the club stood still…

Now we see more experienced players coming in and finally marquee players.
Nope mate, that ain’t no plan, as I wrote, that’s expediency, saving your arse in Holloway parlance…

Those at the top knew they had to move, and why?
Because of the drop in season ticket renewals.

Somehow Stevo, I don’t think that that was in any plan mate.

    With all due respect…..

  79. BrainwashedKev says:

Having wrote all that Sir Steve, you do make some very good points…

On the matter of Wenger, there have been times when I thought that his time was up?!!!

Ultimately Steve, it was up to Wenger himself to stop bullshitting us and to show us that he has it in him to be a winning manager again….

His signing of Ozil, for whatever reason, was a huge step in the right direction.

But the jury is still out….

Personally I want the old Wenger back.
I guess that you do too….

  80. BrainwashedKev says:

Vermaelen, Monreal, Mertesaker, all of them could come into contention for the trip to the Velodrome this Wednesday.

I do not want to see Ozil risked, if he has some tightness in his legs, but I reckon Wenger will play him.

    Same applies to Giroud…

Maybe Sanogo is fit, wonder what his situation is?

  81. BrainwashedKev says:

And how about Bendtner, is he fit enough yet to be involved???

And if not, then why on earth were Crystal Palace interested in him???

How did he get injured in the first place?

Did he drop his ego on his foot???

  82. BrainwashedKev says:

    If anyone knows the fitness status of Bendtner, please write to;

  83. Scott from Ozil says:

Kev, Wenger and Gazidis have made comments over the last month or two suggesting the money has not been there to spend until now.
That is what i have believed to be the case all along.
