Sami Khedira done. Arsenal World Cup winners, yet still 'they' pick on Mesut……..

Morning all.

Mesut, Mesut......
Mesut, Mesut……

Great night for Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and all their German team-mates as they got their hands on the World Cup Trophy.

The confidence that will come with such a victory will surely be enormous.

But will there be four WC Champions on show for us? The Spanish press believe so and it will be no surprise that that player is Sami Khedira. Sport believe he has agreed a four year deal and only a medical stands between him becoming an Arsenal player next season.

If true, this imo will be a great signing and Arsene Wenger will finally get one over the ‘under tall’ manager in the transfer window.

So why just Mesut holding the World Cup, well no matter what this man does whilst playing for us, or playing for his country since signing for us, the press here in the Uk, can’t wait to knock him and here’s a post from Kev about just that..

Since about November/December time last year, I have become gradually aware of a sinister press campaign.

In fact most of us Arsenal fans have noticed it, we have read it daily and are still hearing/reading it now. It is a subtle, sly and at times, insidious campaign from within the stinking bowels of our Press/Media, aimed at undermining our own German genius, the brilliant Mesut Ozil…

During that mid-season period just gone, Ozil began to feel the strain of a long, physical and incessant English football trek. Game after game and with no mid-season break to catch a breath, it’s no wonder that his levels dropped.

Arsene refused to give him a breather and with no policy of rotation on offer at Arsenal, Mesut began to look jaded.

That’s when the ‘Arsenal haters’ began chipping away, criticising Ozil’s performances and constantly quoting his record fee.

No doubt their criticism was driven by the terrifying prospect of Arsenal winning the League.

How could this happen?

How stupidly foolish would all the hacks and pundits have looked, especially as they had written Arsenal off in their traditional uninformed fashion but Arsenal aspirations of PL success was looking ominous, which would have made them look like the massive fools that we already know them to be…

Well, as we know, injuries to Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey put paid to our title dreams. The January Window was frustratingly familiar and we slipped from the top and were unable to keep up the pace.

Fortunately the FA Cup came to our rescue, a cup success that still sticks in the throat of those a Press/Media fools.

And so the criticism of Ozil continued and did so into the World Cup…….

Mesut is now a Word Champion but the snide comments won’t stop. In fact you can almost hear the ‘media morons’ sharpening their pencils in anticipation of beginning a hatchet job on Alexis Sanchez…

Maybe the fact that Arsenal have spent over £78 million on two World class players goes against the Press/Medias biased view of Arsenal mismanagement.

Well, Ivan Gazidis and Dick Law can give ‘them’ the proverbial middle finger and if Ivan is true to his words the media morons and press scum will have more humble pie to consume when a couple more big signings are made this window.

Fortunately, I’ve yet to meet, speak to or blog with any Arsenal fan who has been taken in by this criticism of Mesut Ozil.

We all know he is a fabulous player who we thoroughly enjoy watching.

Mesut Ozil, World Champion! Suck that up Fleet Street mugs…

    Morning all,

    Nice post…

I think the Khedira rumours are untrue to be honest. I’m not sure we are in for him at all..

Great win for our German lads! Nice to see Ozil happy and the other 2 🙂

  2. rico says:

    Morning all.

Good post Kev, no doubt the latest article in the papers irked you as it did me. Th journo’s ability to drag up old news and re-print it is remarkable, especially when it involves an Arsenal player and especially so when they cost the club big bucks.

I see they are doing the same to Jack this morning after his holiday antics. Mind you, I do wonder what goes through Jacks mind sometimes, he knows AW will be cheesed off seeing him smoking and drinking again…..

  3. Scott From Oz says:

    Media.
All just opinions, and slanted ones designed to sell papers.
I can’t think of one “pundit” that has the knowledge of some on here.
    Morning everyone.

  4. Hell Raising Devil says:

Great Post Kev. The last line is simply superb and says it all.

There are two types of journalists.

One type is with pencil in hand.

the other type is with bile in the mouth.

Unfortunately 98% are the latter. And Jose is the most bitter of all journalists.

  5. rogerbij says:

Wow brilliant game last night, thought Ozil played one of the best games of his world cup, and how about THAT WINNER!?!! Congrats to all the Gunner Germans.

Sorry to be a damp cloth, but Im against Khedira compared with the othered rumoured options. We need a defensive midfielder. Khedira is NOT a DM. Also his stats from all recent seasons (when not injured) also do not compare well, he has high wages, and a low sell-on value because he is already 27.

So what the hell am I talking about? For example, never in his career has he averaged 2 tackles per game. For reference Bender averages more than double, and Schneiderlin nearly double Khedira’s best. Interceptions, same. Even Artetas defensive stats are clearly better than Khedira’s over several seasons. Finally Im not even sure you can convince Khedira to stay home at DM. Have a look for yourself, click on the history tab.

    Khedira: http://www.whoscored.com/Players/13764/History/Sami-Khedira
    Bender: http://www.whoscored.com/Players/29940/History/Lars-Bender
    Schneiderlin: http://www.whoscored.com/Players/29544/History/Morgan-Schneiderlin
    Arteta: http://www.whoscored.com/Players/1443/History/Mikel-Arteta

Congrats again to Germany, who I admit were the best team this WC so worthy winners 🙂

  6. rico says:

    So do I Scott.

    Why?

Not because he’s the DM etc who we need but last season our game went to pot when we lost Ramsey, well signing Khedira would keep us up at the same level if that were to happen again and of course, rotation rotation rotation…..

  7. McRaymonds says:

“G” is the 7th letter of alphabet,
    and Germany
    starts with “G”
    -The name Germany contains 7
    letters
-Germany was in Group “G” or
    Group “7”
    -Germany ended group stage with
    7pts
-Germany scored 7 goals in group
    stages-4 vs
Portugal, 2 vs Ghana and 1 vs
    U.S.A
-Germany scored 7 goals vs Brazil
-And obviously, we are in 7th
month of year and winning goal was
scored 7 minutes to end of extra
    time…what a world cup

  8. Savage says:

Journalists are writing that stuff because the public want to read it. It’s the old British cynicism isn’t it? Remember also that there are 19 other teams in the league, and they don’t want to be reading positive stuff about Arsenal all the time. I *love* reading about how Fellaini, Moyes, etc, etc are flops 🙂

  9. Sukky says:

Sami done?I didn’t see that coming.Well,we cares about †̥ђƺ media anyway? They are set of stupid cute trying to survive,Mesut is a great,†̥ђƺ greatest at his job.We enjoy him and if they don’t,they can grab a wheel, pack their families and drive to †̥ђƺ sun.

  10. rogerbij says:

Oh and Im worried about how few games Khedira plays ever season for other teams and dont think he can last 35 games in a season , and his overall whoscored rating in La Liga has never been even 7. For reference that is the starting point to start calling someone quality. Bender, Schneiderlin, and Arteta are all above that mark.

  11. tsgh says:

Another Kev Post? WoW… Good one Sir.

Dev, as I was saying on the previous page, Cologne to Dortmond on train cost roughly £15 for roughly the same distance between say London and Northampton with will cost you nearly £55 in the UK on a more shittier train.

  12. BrainwashedKev says:

Savage, I don’t agree, newspaper sales, across all age groups, is in sharp decline…
That doesn’t point towards the Press printing what people want to read, quite the opposite.

  13. potter says:

Unfortunately Jack is a prime example of English football’s culture. He developed early like Cesc and was immediately promoted by the media as the saviour of the English team. However he wasn’t able to handle the promotion to stardom and like too many English young players has got ahead of himself. What he needs to realise is that all the hard work that he and his coaches did to get him to this level , following his injuries , has to be done again . The talent is still there , he needs the work ethic to realise his full potential.

  14. tsgh says:

Nickie, I thought so too re Khedira but Kt, Cg and Rico have all assured me Aw will play Sami as a box to box midfielder as a foil for Ramsey and keep Arteta as the DM so I am sold…. 🙂 🙂

As you know I was never a fan of his signing because I was not sure what he would bring apart from his energy which in effect produces nothing defensively… my concern and still is that reading twitter and a few other blogs a sit was here previously most fans think/thought Sami is a DM..

Kramer played less than 50 minutes in his 4 appearances for the MAnnchrafts and he made 4 more tackles than Sami.

  15. Hell Raising Devil says:

Start running Nickie. Then we will have a discussion whether we should hunt you down or not……by which time you would be already out of sight. lol. 😛

  16. rico says:

Savage, they are exceptionally cruel towards us though..

Only the British media could turn a Suarez sale to being a good thing for Liverpool.

Had that all happened to a player of ours, well I can only imagine the kind of headlines we’d have seen…

  17. tsgh says:

Ditto than potter.. maybe we should bring Song back to help Jack.lol

Seriously though I think he and Sami might work well if Sami comes..

He and Ramsey don’t work because most fans rate a player in goals scored or assist or the number of sliding tackles a player makes… both want to grab the limelight which in effect leaves our defenders exposed.
Av match day 1 comes to mind with none of the 2 taking responsibility defensively…

An example was fans saying Ramsey was playing badly in the FA cup final because he had not scored… what he was doing was making sure that SC19 had the platform to excel by helping Arteta protect our back line…

Albeit we conceded on set-pieces against plan…

  18. rico says:

Ts, I’m not sure of your pint re Krammer v Khedira?

Everyone can see that Khedira was the more attacking player of the two German midfielders, so surely to compare the two you have to talk about how much attacking play Krammer created..

I personally, and as said earlier, don’t see Sami to be the DM/HM player we need but more of a Ramsey kind of player who will allow rotation/rest without the team suffering.

  19. Luznic says:

how happy I am that my predictions about its going to be Italia 90 again happened after the 2nd round matches, Morning Rico and all, nice post Kev very nice as I am tired of reading these nonsense about our players too Mesut Oezil is a great great player and for me he is better than fab (biased) but that’s imho

  20. eduardo says:

there are many Gooners out there that lap up and repeat the nonsense that the media have written about Ozil, the even call those of us who can see what Ozil brings, football snobs, (who only stick up for Ozil so we can pretend to know more about football than them, the ordinary fan), there is no doubt that the £42M price tag has left many expecting a different type of player than Ozil actually is. I have been a fan of Ozil since his Werder Bremen days and know exactly what sort of player he is, and I’m happy with how he has performed for us so far, yes he has not been at his consistent best most of the season, but when he has other mobile players around him he is very good. Ramsey, Theo, and Alexis teaming up with him next season will help him shut up the morons who are down on him now. Add Khedira and we will push for the big titles.

  21. rogerbij says:

Oh nothing taken badly at all tsgh, just mystery. Rico, Im really wondering what the feelings are on HH about the Khedira/Bender/Sch options. And also if HHers want a DM or a boxtobox player… Poll time?

  22. frednerk says:

Schweinsteiger proved that an attaching midfielder can play the defensive roll, sitting behind Kroos and Kramer, remember Schweinsteiger played wide early on.
Fat Frank played that roll for the chavs champion league win.
    Sammy can play defensive mid,
    I think,because he defends a game,
can anyone see him being bullied,
wenger dislikes defenders playing in their,
going by tommy sitting on the bench every week,
as for arteta being replaced, who would you rather play against,
Arteta or Sammy if you were a midfield player.

  23. rogerbij says:

I should add the reason I want a quality DM, is to ensure we have structure and strength in our defense and so we dont suffer any more 6-3, 5-1, 6-0 games, and can compete in the later stages of the CL with the tougher teams. Of course we dont need a DM player to beat a bottom table team. But we dont need Khedira to do that either.

  24. rico says:

eduardo, and we can’t forget that this is his first season, many players need bedding in time and as Kev says in the post, he’s used to a winter break etc. And for some crazy reason, AW played him far too much, just like he did Ramsey and it cost us dear.

  25. Scott From Oz says:

Eduardo, there are plenty on here that said the same thing…….Ozil needs players in motion to show his best…..for quite a while now, including me….that shows how obvious it is.

  26. Nickie says:

i was 100% positive about Sanchez though…I have a few trustworthy sources I believe on Twitter and they say they’ve heard nothing about Khedira….I need something more than these unreliable sources lol :p

  27. Luznic says:

if we desperately want a German why don’t we just buy Toni Kroos, I knew that boy since 2007 in the U-17 world cup, and he is still developing and he is more than world class if there is anything like that Congrats to the Germans again well deserved Victory

  28. BrainwashedKev says:

Luzinic, thank you mate, it’s just a case of being selective, reading between the lines and accepting that everyone is capable, be they a pundit, blogger or journalist, of being biased and having an agenda…

In many cases it’s an ego thing…

I suppose I’m no different from anyone else in that regard.
It’s down to other people, to read what I post and decide if I’m trying to be the ‘Big I Am’ or not….

We have to do that with everything we read mate…
    I’m glad you enjoyed what I wrote…

  29. Luznic says:

rogerbij 11:24 that looks like a tennis score line is Arsenal playing tennis now? we don’t need Khedira but I wont mind a Khedira

  30. rico says:

Nickie, I think it’s all coming from Spain, it could of course be Marca spinning a line on behalf of Madrid to get Chelsea to pay more..

    Time will tell I guess…

  31. tsgh says:

Luznic, if we bought Kroos then I would have to do up Aw’s zippers on the bench which won’t be a pretty site.. 😛

Seriously though… to me Kroos, Ramsey and Vidal total players…
Schweingsteiger, Arteta, pirlo= football brains. imho

  32. Scott From Oz says:

Nickie, just the intent signing him would show other clubs we have would be worth the money.
We could start scaring them 🙂

  33. Dominic says:

Good example of how the press twist things. Arsene says he thinks that Hazard did not play as well as he can during the World Cup. The Daily Express headline on website claims that he has slammed the player.

  34. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Well…great that we are suddenly making choices…I remember the season we signed Joel Campbel…everyone was praying as deal dragged and dragged…and we all celebrated when it was eventually done. Now because Sanchez is here, people suddenly started seeing Sami Khedira as an average player…

Wenger knew Germany was going to take over from Spain…and had been going after German players … but German clubs do not sell great players to oversea clubs for fear of dropping Bundesliga’s quality. Gustavo was almost in the bag but Bayern sold to Wolfsburg instead. Julian Draxler, Lars Bender…all prospects but difficult to price away…Le Prof then turned to those that already left Bundesliga. No need wasting time on Bender…grab Khedira…he’s a world Champion and being World Champions robs on clubs. Besides Bayern, Arsenal have the greatest number of current World Champions. Adding Khedira just swells it, robbing Madrid of any.

So, let Khedira come…I enjoyed what I saw of him at the World Cup. This coming season will be all about beating the ‘smaller’ teams. Matches against big teams will be a rotation of wins and loses…with two box-to-box midfielders, winning ‘smaller’ teams will be far easier.

In the UCL, Khedira is a veteran and offers better credentials than all others linked…besides, he’s a marque signing and we’ve all been craving for them.

  35. Luznic says:

kev the post was well digested by me, I see no point in journalists writing bollocks and pundits sprouting rubbish I just believe there is an agenda against the Arsenal and sometimes I wonder is it because AW is French and a revolutionary or what but at some point it just has to stop now they say Alexis is very inconsistent they wouldn’t say that if he was going to chelshit as no one is saying Diego Costa is a one season wonder……… there is an agenda

  36. tsgh says:

Rico, I was trying to say majority of people including pundits are claiming Sami will provide us with steel defensively…

Not sounding out Fred but Fred in his post above believes Khed can play DM…

We know how the media are like, they have an ideal of a player and if the player does not fit that bill then Aw has wasted money…

How many times in the last 4 weeks did we hear commentators say Ozil is having a bad world cup?

Also I am not so sure Sami creates chances btw… he created 5 chances allegedly in the WC.. Ozil created 21 chances… kroos created 17 chances and made 6, 1 defensive error yesterday…

As I am saying I am not against Sami.. AW will have to use him very well to make him useful taking into consideration what we have…

And he hardly completes 90 minutes too even before his injury.. 😉

If we have the money a proper professional German to me is Kroos…

I am not claiming to know it all .. but like I was saying about lars now being slightly poor.. you see Kramer was drafted in last minute before world cup and he took Lars Benders place even though Lars is older and has UCL experience… imho

  37. rico says:

Luznic, the club couldn’t shut the critics up when we won the league and not even 2003/4 kept them quiet..

They dislike Arsenal and that won’t go away until the side is full of English players with and English manager imo…

  38. rico says:

Ts, as you know, I couldn’t give a toot what the media are saying, what do they know after all? No more than most people on here, in fact less I’d say.

If they were all as good as they think they are, they’d be coaching football, not spouting bollox about it…

  39. Luznic says:

Tai Obasi Khedira is very very good but no veteran playing 4seasons in UCL doesn’t make you that, then what do you call Walcott,Rooney,Fabregas, Messi Khedira has UCL experience but Veteran no let’s go for Kroos if we want to scare clubs or want a marquee signing I don’t settle for less if we have to do it let’s do it, but spot on about AW scouting German market I thought of it and your opinion on it is right

  40. Nickie says:

hehe i’m scared for Wenger’s health if he’s after Khedira. He will need a medical himself after spending all this money

  41. Luznic says:

Ts Jose knows nothing he is just an angry old boy, Rico that’s true re media…….but isn’t Costa a one season wonder? to me he’s not a footballer, I knew from day one since Brendan Rodgers made a bid for him, the same Brenda who signed Borini, Aspas, Assaidi and other wooden legged players

  42. rico says:

I don’t know re Costa Luznic, he’s not a fav of mine but he scores goals and his tally has increased as his career has progressed. Whether he hit’s the ground running in the PL remains to be seen..

My own view is he’ll hit the ground, in a Suarez kind of way. Diving… 😉

  43. tsgh says:

Hey Syg… how did you snieak in without me spotting you? How was your flight back?

ha ha ha Luznic… ditto Costa comment.

    I was just teasing earlier…

Costa had not scored more than 10 goals before this season…

  44. rogerbij says:

Luznic 11:38, exactly. That was vs Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea. Tennis sounds about right. Smashed. All away. I couldve added 3-0 Everton. A quality DM can go a long way to fixing that.

TSGH, I see I can retire my keyboard for today, you have enough similar thoughts. Kramer does sound like a reasonable option to add to Sch/Ben/Khed list but personally I havent seen enough of him.

  45. Micko says:

Reading last nites stats Ozil is just a poor man’s Mo Farah !

Kev, stop giving it the ‘Big I am’

Time to show the premiership we mean business.

  46. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Luznic, Kroos already confirmed for Madrid…you look closely at Bundesliga teams…they hardly sell outside…Gotze, Lewandowski, Gustavo…any wonder Kroos is going to Spain? Who’s present Bayer coach? Football politics all over the place.

Give me Khedira…if Wenger wants him, Le Prof knows where and how to use him.

  47. tsgh says:

Roger, there was me thinking similar…

I talk enough Bollox on here and was looking for someone to start taking the fall as my partner in crime Scott has taken a back seat until the season starts. 🙂

  48. tsgh says:

Micko, get off the stats… lol

Ozil did not score enough goals for a no.10 so he is shite.. according to P.Merson and Pinocchio Thompson of course.

  49. tsgh says:

Kroos may not go to BM after all…

James’s fee and negotiation proving to be a bit more formal for a club like RM who signed Zidane by writing a note on a napkin in a restaurant…

Monaco want ‘bottler’ Higuain before they can sell and Rafa does not want to sell…

  50. AndrewH says:

Good post, Ozil will have last laugh though because with our fast runners this season he will have great assists. Our press adores British Bulldog spirit of your Gerards etc, they called it a golden generation … deluded I’m afraid, Ozil 6/10 in the Sun. Says it all and back up today’s post.

Barton comes out and tweets, Sanchex inconsistent! Yeah, after world cup he’s had. And Joey has done on big stage?

I have high hopes that Khedira will go through after Stan Collymore’s twitter quote. Love him or hate him (he was finest Southend player I ever had the pleasure to watch!), he was spot on with Sanchez confirmation after speaking to Wenger. Hope he’s on a roll.

  51. ktr7 says:

Good read kev.Ozil is now a world champion.f**k what the press says now.he was excellent last night.he is going to have a top top season with us next year since we are upgrading the squad.here is something for you..

Mesut Özil had that fastest recorded
sprint, and the most sprints in Germany’s
7-1 victory over Brazil. 31.79km/h. Faster
    than Robben. Lazy!!!ok…

  52. tsgh says:

    You know it Scott…

£42m for a player should be doing better… I mean Suarez scored a colossal 10 goals in his first full season with us… Ozil scored 5 or so without having pre-season with us and playing less than 140 minutes with RM in the whole pre-season…

  53. ktr7 says:

Kroos is a madrid player folks.no point discussing him moving elsewhere…

‘We’ve finished the World Cup in the best way
possible. Now I’m going to Madrid, so that’s two
    dreams achieved,’ Kroos told UOL.

  54. ArsenalDK says:

    Hello everyone.

QPR have bought Kolbeinn Sigthorsson from Ajax for about £6M. Surely that means, that Remy is now leaving?

  55. AndrewH says:

Colly has his up and downs, but I don’t think he would have said ‘advanced’ without it being fact. He would lose all his smugness over breaking Sanchez. Trouble is, 50 other sites then quote advanced and its all from one source.

  56. AndrewH says:

Its certainly a better feeling as a Gooner than two weeks ago. rico, you did tell me to keep the faith when I went into one what with Chelsea, Pool and ManU all spending 😉

  57. rico says:

Agree again Andrew, seems Colly has been buttering up AW for news. Maybe AW is spinning him a yarn though… lol

However, there’s so much smoke surrounding Sami, surely a big fire looms…..

  58. ktr7 says:

If the rumours are true about the players we are chasing then it really seems Wenger wants to win a CL title before he retires.he is building a strong squad.

  59. rico says:

I did Andrew, but I’m not one who likes to suggest I’m right.. 😉

Just had a hunch because AW signed a 3 year contract, it was nothing more than a hunch….

  60. fatgun-ug says:

    Good day all HHers,
Ozil played 120min of football in the Wc final for a team that won it. If a wc winning coach thinks he is that good, how do some lazy journos that can’t coach a Sunday pub team spoil your mood. They have tried to break the boy he signed for us and his only response to them is winning. He has won two trophies in two months but still some idiots can’t realise how stupid they sound by praising losers and criticising winners. They would rather praise Steven gerrard who has won nothing for his country in the last 15yrs……
    Up Ozil, up gooners

  61. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Why not, Rico…he’s now spending money…they were only afraid he could it virtually bare hands!

  62. frednerk says:

Arteta attacking midfielder for everton,a lot of clever players over 30 drop back as the years creep up,Arteta who will be 33 next birthday, struggled for pace and recovery last season,
not sure wenger thinks we can win the league with him in there this season.
Hope we keep him,but I feel we need a bit more power in there.

  63. rico says:

I’m not so sure Tai, they always seem to pull a dodgy decision out of the bag to stop us.

I’m not overly fussed if he stays or goes fred, as long as we get a DM/HM in the door..

Sentiment suggests he should stay, but surely he’ll be a bit part, as will Rosicky…

  64. ktr7 says:

This explains the thinking behind possibly signing Khedira…

“There are no defensive midfield players at the
    moment,” explained Wenger.
“We try to find the defensive balance collectively.
We have fewer players who are purely defenders
but some are physically strong in defending like
Diaby, some are tactically strong like Arteta.
“At the moment we have the balance because
everybody participates, but we have fewer
specialists, purely defenders. We are more
versatile going forward because everyone has the
    potential to go forward.”

    He fits that mould.

  65. Luznic says:

Kroos to Madrid then illara is off to some place then and the British press are just sad people who has killed the game they built and they should be ashamed of themselves

  66. Scott From Oz says:

True, Rico, you bandwagon number hahahahahahaha.
No it’s definitely a great time for us ATM.

  67. rico says:

That Wenger comment speaks volumes about what he thought of Alex Song…

After all, Barca are trying to sell him….

  68. Nickie says:

Brainwashed by you guys! and a few tweets i’ve seen have got me excited lol….I’m so easily affected

  69. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Rico, stopping us was for our own good. If we had made finals or even semi in past three or four seasons, we would have slipped out of top 4. See how Man U is sweating to sign quality players. Di Maria likely joining PSG! Every top player wants UCL action. Great we’re in that position before our present revolution!

Sometimes rock-solid DMs do not make a team invincible. Great mobile players like Ramsey, Khedira make opponents impossible to breath. Brazil had a team full of DMs…Gustavo, Fernandinho, Paulinho, Willian, Ramirez…where did it land them? Only Oscar was true creative MF

  70. Luznic says:

where is debuchy? I hope he is not wasting more time with the toons and why are they signing players on a six year deal they seem to want to challenge for the spuds 5th place trophy annually and yes Rico Nickie has been brainwashed hahahaha

  71. ktr7 says:

Apparently Liverpool pulled out of talks with Alexis
Sanchez after finding out that he isn’t a
    Southampton player 🙂

  72. Luznic says:

KT that’s very very funny I was just thinking yesterday they might make a double swoop on Lovren and Jay Rodriguez

  73. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Kt, I’m sure what happened was Barca using him as a bait for Suarez. No player of Sanchez’s quality would welcome a swap where he equals the play plus 40+ million quids!

The Chilean smartly looked our way…if you ask me Wenger mentioned that while convincing him.

  74. BrainwashedKev says:

Fred, good points, I mean how many out & out def/mids were in this last World Cup?

    The game is constantly evolving…

Atm every team seems to have a plethora of att/mids, att/fullbacks, a lack of out and out strikers, a lack of wingers, it’s just the way it is…

Fred, did you see that Shaun O’Conner is back on the Scouting team…

Seems that the club is about to renew some of it’s old contacts…

    And not before time eh???

  75. rico says:

Tai, imo, we were cheated out of progressing sometimes, I don’t like that….

Afternoon Kev, hot in the city??

    Kt, That’s funny…

  76. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Hiya Ginge.
Sorry re: delay. Flew back into the UK around 2:00am.
Doctors first as I did a bit much on the Laptop/work while I was away and have got a retinal leak in my right eye – I think – just done Tesco’s and am now back in. Madness.
    Hospital @ 7:30pm.
Hope ur okay kidda and thanks for keeping me in the loop !
I’ll let you know about that other thing – I’m calling him tonight.

  77. BrainwashedKev says:

Rico, it’s a beautiful, warm, sunny day, with a gentle breeze…

    I wish I was in the garden…. 🙁

  78. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

i don’t like that either…but hindsight make me call it blessing in disguise. If we won UCL in two years time, I’d still be alive to celebrate it … and I’m sure every other person here…

  79. tsgh says:

Good to hear syg… hope al clear with the eye…

without those who you can’t read my bollox stats and slate them.. 😛

Good luck with the other one mate… 😉

  80. tsgh says:

Hi Kev.. I am impressed with the number and quality of post you have been producing…

You are not doing the rain man chaneeling ? 😉

  81. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Khedira getting very strong. We’re having four World Cup winners next season! Smells good …for the game and for bragging rights…seems Gunners fans will have a breather this season! Enough of Chavs taunts! And we’ll beat Chelsea to his signature too! Thank God for FFP!

  82. rico says:

Tai, maybe but what comes with us going out of a competition? Heads go down and results/performances take a dip. Losing the way we have done at times in the CL gets to players….

  83. rico says:

If and if we really are in for Sami, I hope he is like Sanchez and only wants to join us as otherwise, there’s plenty of time fr Mourinho to throw a spanner in the works…

  84. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

FFP, Rico…you think Mou has been this quiet bc he loves it? He can’t buy any good player without selling…and all ‘sellable’ Chavs players had bad World Cup outings.

  85. rico says:

Me neither Lee, but I wouldn’t mind if he went to Palace. Can’t stand Pulis, but Jenks would learn how to defend better over a season..

If of course he has to go on loan…

  86. snaparse says:

hi Rico seriously I don’t give a f**k what the media says again ozil was one of the best players last night and he ran 14km for a lazy player(they say) he out ran their love child messi…..I’m not saying ozil is better but he tries and despite playing in an unfamiliar role he didn’t complain and gave his all I’m not leow but I bet he will be proud of mesut and he and Wenger are the only ones ozil should care about what they say…..totally enjoyed the world cup show And am absolutely happy for our boys tipped the Germans right from the start happy they proved me right hope our boys come back. blazing and we give all the whole cups we participate in a go as I just want us to be counted among the best this season….coyg

  87. tsgh says:

As I mentioned before wc, the days of full attacking fb is going…

Brazil for donkey years at least from when I first watched a wc in ’86 have relied on 2 attacking fb… most recently Carlos and Cafu,; plus 2 solid DM in Dunga, Silva and our own Gilberto Silva in 2002 plus 4 attacking players who just change and float… in fact in brazil no.3 always wore no.6 because they were considered playmakers…

The brazil result is no fluke… this was their best performance in the wc since 2002; they have failed to evolve… as Kev mentioned you have to move with times… its either that all you have refs in your pocket like Juventus, OM and Fergie… 😉

Germany up until the quarter finals played with 4 centre backs; 1 RB as a CM , 3 x no.10’s (Gotze, Kroos and Ozil), 1 x no.7 in Muller and a number 8 in Khedira…

All tournament they have relied on players able to adjust tactically without instruction… that could be the difference between going down at half time 1-0 down or being 0-0 and getting the manager/squad to regroup…

Example of players making minute tactical adjustment is Kroos and Schweinsteiger swapping for a few minutes when Argentina were dictating play… kroos sat for awhile whilst Bastian with more ‘legs’ played in front of him to make kramer with less experience help him chase Biglia and Mascherano and Perez…

Arteta, TR07 and Ramsey do that very often for us when they are on the field…

my point is we need fit players who do not bottle it and have tactical awareness this summer…

All we need is 7% more wins in all competitions plus luck to do a treble…

The 7% of games are the games we fail to turn up in physically and mentally.. not helped by Aw playing 4-1-4-1 against the likes of R. Martinez’s 5 or 6 man midfield …

  88. tsgh says:

Hi Snap, Ozil defends whilst Ozil rarely does…

As Dev said last night Ozil is a team player! Simples as Rico will say.

  89. tsgh says:

Kt- Aw mentioned Arteta and no Flamoney in your 12:53? Lol

So my buddy Arteta will stay then… hoooray…

Now he can get Sami and play the set-up HH has been talking about… 🙂

  90. tsgh says:

Very good player; will run until heavens open…

I hope to see the data between Ramsey/CJ25 and Fathi in august when the squad is almost there… ;)- fitness test

  91. tsgh says:

Who has seen Michel Platini asking for Ozil’s shirt… he couldn’t wait… if a top player like Platini can see it surely Motd can see it too…

Alan Hansen’s dislike for Per is another reason I wish I didn’t have to pay my license fee…

  92. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Oyyyy lovely ones……

Do you remember me saying that the game is evolving towards 5 defensive minded players who can fit into any position at the back and 5 attack minded players who can float around any position on the pitch???

  93. rico says:

Talking of Hanson, can’t believe the BBC broadcast a programme dedicated to him a few days ago…

  94. rico says:

I’m too busy trying to remember all the things Ts has said he told us Devil, don’t you start… 😉

  95. tsgh says:

Apparently Cavani is being passed around…

We made a bid when he was a Naploi before his big season so… just maybe…

  96. tsgh says:

‘the German public have voted Gonzalo Higuain Man of the Match’ lmfao…

Rico, you must surely remember me saying to you Higuain is a bottler and darren Bent is a genuius? 😛 😀

  97. Hell Raising Devil says:

hehe Rico. I know you have a lot on your plate.

I have been saying that for a couple of years infact. No more specialised positions it seems.

Imo that is wrong. CB and CF need to be specialised positions.

when we arrive at 5 and 5 then the cycle will reverse. There will be a coach who will introduce a winger, a full back etc.

And they will be labelled a genius. For inventing something that existed 50 years before.

  98. rico says:

    Don’t want Cavani….

Never Ts and no, nothing to do with Wath, just all from me honest.. 😉

But I have a point, surely? lol

  99. Hell Raising Devil says:

The German public was taking the piss obviously Ginge.

Rico do you remember me telling Kev to tell Wath that vino is better than GG??? 😛

  100. Hell Raising Devil says:

And you must surely remember me and Ginge speculating on the benefits of the 3-5-2 formation over 4-3-3!!!

  101. rico says:

Funny enough Ts, no, I don’t remember that. Mind you, I sleep in between days… lol

Agree Devil, same as strikers, if you want a striker, sign one, not stick a midfielder up front, and wingers, don’t play a midfielder out wide and expect him to bomb up and down the flanks with great pace…

Can’t think who would do such a thing….

  102. rogerbij says:

Oh wwow, so ours is worth 30m a year (a short lived record), and Man U pulls in 75m a year!!??

  103. tsgh says:

Dev, Rico is trying to hang us out to dry… if it was Mr. Wath i can understand but a lady like Rico.. I can’t get my head around it… but then again ‘as I said…’ 🙂

  104. tsgh says:

Exactly Roger… when we were raving about the Puma deal and IG was talking cack I said he was just talking shite…

That deal was well spun to the fans…

  105. rico says:

Ts, Of course I remember you saying ‘As I said’, that could be from any/every day over the last few years…. lol

    2.31 is an example… lol

  107. Micko says:

rico, I think too many fans think too many fans………..lol.

Hope you got a licence for those shorts kev !

  108. ktr7 says:

Ozil ran more than 14km yesterday.he worked so hard for the team both in offence and defence.hope that is a preview of what he’ll bring to the table next season.he will be full of confidence now.

  109. ktr7 says:

I felt sorry for Reus yesterday…he must be gutted that he got injured or else he would be a world champion today.

  110. tsgh says:

Kt, reus has had a few bad dyas recently..

He said he was disappointed Barca failed to come back for him when they had been in discussion…

  111. tsgh says:

Arsenal Repört @ArsenalReport · The pattern is always that whoever we’re being linked with is now suddenly the best player in the world. No one rated Khedira before May.

  112. tsgh says:

Arsenal Repört @ArsenalReport · 5h Still not convinced Sami “German Milner” Khedira is the right option for Arsenal, but happy to be proven wrong if he ends up signing.

A bit harsh imho but hey…

  113. tsgh says:

The Arsenal opening match against Crystal palace is to be televised for free, SkySports has announced

  114. tsgh says:

Rico/dev I have an quiz for you, how many spuddies were involved in the WC apart from Lloris of course? 🙂

Sperds fans telling me it had to be a chelsea player setting up the WC winner whilst Ozil goes missing again! lol

  115. ktr7 says:

ts we have been toying around with the idea that Jack will end up as a deep lying playmaker. This is what Arsene said not so long ago…

Arsène says: “His best position is as a
deep-lying midfielder, where he can be a
distributor. He has a good burst and
    vision” #AskArsene

If khedira comes that will confirm it.I think he’ll be groomed to take over from Arteta.Watching Germany during the worldcup i found it weird that Ozil was often in space in between the lines but for some reason kroos/schweinsteiger did not try to pass to him.If Wenger plans to play jack there he will at least try to get the ball to him by either passing or a dribble.thats one of Arteta’s limitations in that he doesn’t pass in between the lines often.

  116. rico says:

Who are Arsenal report?? Just an opinion, that’s all..

Daily Cannon reckon we have bid for Cuadrado

  117. tsgh says:

    Yep re Cuadrado…

‘As I said’ a few weeks back Brca only bid to force us to make a move for Sanchez quickly.. they pulled out after we signed AS.

Micko, tell me if I am paranoid.. our game vs City has been moved to 12:45 pm

  118. tsgh says:

Hooray our first ever 17:45pm k.o against the chavs… our record is 2nd to none then…

    we will beat Jose… hooray!

  123. tsgh says:

BM refused to match Khedira’s salary so it is between us and the chavs… we have the cash.. Mariana has to sell first..

Ramires and Obi Mikel non eventful showing in wc has messed up Chelsea’s FFP compliance plans.

  124. rico says:

You chatting away to yourself Ts… 😉

Will the Chavs have to sell though after Luiz went for mega money…

  125. tsgh says:

Maybe not Rico, Potter or one of the HHers may know more…

I thought they were not meeting their obligation last time round… they will reduce wages with Lampard, Cashley etc so maybe they will just scrap through…

Monaco do not have to meet the rules until next summer if they qualify for UCL…

City have managed to massage some figures to find an extra £32m for Mangala…

    A joke on spuds site…

”I read the scum have signed Khedira. He looks like an upgrade on Diaby. Diaby gets injured getting out of bed whilst Khedira gets injured warming up”.

  129. BrainwashedKev says:

Positive vibes around gunnerdom for once. Jack will soon enter the last chance saloon if he dosen’t improve his performance next season. He really needs to put in a shift whenever he gets the chance otherwise he will join his best friend at storm grass(sturm graz).
On another note Alan Pardew thanked himself for signing Remy Cabella. He needs to borrow a stick from Jack.

  133. rico says:

Great post Kev as Dev said last line just briliant.
Micko our season is just around the corner .

  139. Micko says:

Rick, won’t believe it until we play Borehamwood…..roll on Saturday !
Got a sneaky feeling arsene will give Alexis the weekend off !!!

    Nite all.

  140. BrainwashedKev says:

Harrow Borough and Borehamwood vs U21’s are a definate possibility Rick…

Forest Green is too far, Gloucestershire, they’re having a laugh…

Shame about Colchester United, behind closed doors like Bournmouth…
    What’s the point of that?!!!

    Thanks re: post….

The Press/Media make it easy as they’re such a bunch of two-faced cnuts.
So easy to slag them off….
Having met a quite few Press & Media types, I can confirm that they really are a load of useless wankers….

Just in case anyone wasn’t sure….

    Night All, and you Mick….

    Morning Scott….

  141. rico says:

No Khedira then, he wants too much money each week…

Ho hum, onwards to the next Ivan….

    Morning anyone…

  142. potter says:

Regarding the B.T ads , it’s best to ignore them and then it’s down to the players to stuff them this year and they will soon be forgotten.

  143. Sukky says:

I will take Morgan over khedira because of †̥ђƺ wage. And Morgan is more of a HM than khedira.Didn’t we need a DM,then why are we going for a box to box midfielder?Wenger may wanna give diaby a chance this season but its too risky because he may do a diaby again.

  144. Gonerjoe says:

On the BT ads your right but they are a new level of taking the piss
and I hope they face backlash.

  145. rico says:

Brenda wants another 5 players, cripes, he’d have signed nearly an entire team before the window closes…

  146. Sukky says:

Who cares about loserpool?they can spend 100m like †̥ђƺ spud and we all know how that work out, lol.Khedira and Morgan in means arteta or flamy will go.I prefer Morgan to khedira.

  147. tsgh says:

    Greizman is joining the chavs….

Typical AW…spinning that there are no DM when he has been raving about Daley Blind and Clasie etc…

Diaby is Aw’s love child so…

    Morning Rico and all btw…

  148. lee says:

The scousers will have to pay loads more games next season, with no suarez….hopefully they’ll get relegated!!

  149. tsgh says:

In the meantime BM sell Kroos to RM for less than £15m whilst we apparently fluff around for a crooked player half as good for £20m with a £10m a year wage demand.

give Saints £25m and pay Morgan £60m its cheaper in the long term…

  150. rico says:

Carragher is a plank, he says that signing Sanchez will have a huge impact on English players Walcott and OC and not for the good.

Errrmmm, has he not seen how many overseas players Brenda is signing….

  151. rico says:

I’d love the Dippers to get relegated! Not sure Brenda will know how to keep his many players happy etc…

  152. Wavy says:

Lee when the ‘fix’ is in there’s not much anybody can do about it!

Good morning and a happy new day on the blogasphere!

  153. tsgh says:

There was me thinking the chavs had to sell first…
    £25m on Greizman…

Maybe Hazard will leave. That will make my day…

  154. rico says:

    You have a point Wavy…

How can Suarez move to Barcelona when he’s banned from all football grounds and any football activity…

  155. tsgh says:

We are losing the plot… too much sun, sand and sea and…

according to Telegraph: Arsene Wenger wants any deal for Vermaelen to include players from Old Trafford joining Arsenal.

  156. lee says:

Wavy, the ant- Arsenal brigade piss me off, BIG TIME!
I just hope we continue to add more quality players, win another pot then we can give the anti-wankers the middle finger!

  157. snaparse says:

morning all imho I would take benteke over any striker we want to buy maybe except Mario…….I really like him can play giroud role very well and has much pace and is very clinical also

  158. snaparse says:

if we want to buy from Madrid it should be di maria ……can play as a cm cam and on the wings too….very good work rate to boot

  159. snaparse says:

Rico I do think benteke offers so much more and has presence too he will be perfect in the big games for us just as drogba was…..it might just be me but I think he is going to be a very good player but I won’t be too displeased with loic

  160. tsgh says:

I am with you Di Maria was about to be sold until we went in for Sami allegedly..

    Di Maria turned down Yanited…

  161. tsgh says:

Not itk.. but Aw turned down Kroos last week as BM though RM were more of a threat to them in UCL than we would be so they didn’t want him to go there…

Tonionly wanted us and RM… Yanited offer of £25M was turned down because he did not want Yanited… tsk.. I am fuming this morning

  162. tsgh says:

I was a little bit surprised when I saw Messi coming up to collect the best player of the competition” – Sepp Blatter

  163. snaparse says:

ts I think valbuena want/needs a new challenge but I don’t see him coming over as he turned us down when arsene wanted him so……

  164. tsgh says:

Snap do you think spain? I am not sure AS Monaco or Psg need him…

    Pastore and Lavezzi very similar…

    valencia or Seville maybe

  165. snaparse says:

Rico benteke is injured Nw but he will be back soon I just think its a risk worth taking remember he was first choice for Belgium before his injury and most would want lukaku here…I just think he will be good for us

  166. Wavy says:

Papers say Valbuena off to Moscow. Strange choice? Or just paper fiction?
I’m off now to the bookies to put a tenner on manure! Clearly that are going to win the EPL the bookies have fixed it!

  167. snaparse says:

maybe Valencia???? they really need a creative player or sevilla?? seeing as they just lost rakitic to barca

  168. tsgh says:

    Interesting Wavy… didn’t know that

Snap, Aw says Pogba will be the best midfielder in a few years… why say that when we have Ramsey!!

  169. Woody says:

I tell you what really pisses me off….ex Liverpool players.

How many have come out and said ‘Sanchex will regret joining Arsenal’ or I read this morning ‘Sanchez will hamper Arsenal players’

So all these Liverpool dickheads who were saying Sanchez was as good as at Liverpool and what a signing he would be are now all sour grapes because the ‘might’ Liverpool can’t attract shit.

I’ve had enough of Phil Thompson on my tv. He’s probably worse than Chiles for me, the difference is I hardly ever have to look at Chiles.

Jealousy is a funny old thing, but these pricks just take the piss.

  170. tsgh says:

    🙂 rico

    well put woody.

I would like to know how rakitic fits into Barca line-up if pedro etc stay

  171. snaparse says:

ts as we all know Ramsey doesn’t do fancy foot works and step overs if not for the goals players like Ramsey and Vidal wouldn’t be appreciated Paul is a very good player but until he learns the basics and starts helping the team he will get found out……..funny nobody really said anything about how a DM in medel was playing as a center back and performing very well IMO he was the best Chilean player in the world cup

  172. snaparse says:

ts rakitic is a very intelligent football he will slot into cm with iniesta as xavi I think is spent…heard he was leaving for Qatar?

  173. tsgh says:

Ditto that Snap… we have similar views mate… Medel the pitbull is an excellent player. One reason Chile lost was because he went off and Diaz moved defensive against Brazil..

Before that Chile were getting very close..
Like Ozil, a nation/pundits that thinks Townsend was a great miss to the England wc squad will never appreciate Mesut…

To coin my own phrase… reason why I said in September last year that Ozil will be slated from last November… for not playing like he played against England in Sth Africa. lol
