Same old Arsene, always moaning! But does he have a point?

We all know that when we don’t win or we draw or even when we just play dreadful, Arsene Wenger seldom misses the opportunity to have a moan. His moan is nearly always about anything other than the fact the players he bought and continues to play, were simply rubbish!

It’s either the state of the pitch, we were tired after the Internationals, too many injuries, the fixture list favours others and his favourite seems to be that we don’t get enough protection from the referee…

But does he have a point, especially about the latter in that list?

Here is one of our regular posters view on it:

After watching the dismal showing against Blackburn, something came to me. Blackburn were being allowed to get away with more than us. Nothing new I hear you cry and the sad fact is, this is true but it started me thinking as to why this is.

Why are The Arsenal booked more than opposing clubs on a regular basis yet we commit less fouls? Why do we seem to get more long-term injuries than is our fair share? I watch games and am left confused. An Arsenal player makes a tackle, the ref blows his whistle and a foul is given but less than a minute later, an opposing player makes the exact same tackle but no whistle, in fact the ref usually allows play to continue and I find myself screaming “what was the difference”?

Does this knowledge play on the Arsenal players minds, do they know they are going to get zero protection from the ref so they don’t go into 50/50 challenges? Do they know the opposition is going to be “industrial” or “robust” of even “overly-physical” or any other euphemism the media uses for dirty so they pull out?

Look at the head injury Nasri received yesterday, the defender led with the elbow but the ref did nothing. Leading with the elbow like that can lead to skull fractures and need to be removed from the game and I am sorry but I don’t buy into the “protecting yourself” drivel that usually spouts from serial offenders like Shearer and Hansen.

When you jump, your arms go up not out but that was not the only thing going on. Tackles a split second late that result in painful ankle taps, off the ball body checks, all let go by the ref yet it seemed to my admittedly biased eyes, we were getting pulled up for pretty much every tackle we made.

Now there is a myth in the game that these lesser teams have to be physical to match us because if they tried to play football, they would be beaten out of sight. I don’t understand nor accept this. Are we saying that it is ok to kick the better team because that evens up the playing field? Does that mean it should be allowed to send five amateur boxers in against a world champ as it would make things even? No, of course not, there are rules and those rules need to be adhered to.

For me, if you are not good enough, get better. It is a pretty simple concept but it seems that Arsenal are held to a different standard, a different set of rules. Is it because we are seen as a French team? A team who don’t like the physical side? Just kick them and they crumble. Is that the game of Pele, Maradona? Puskas? Cruyff? And all the greats who have graced this wonderful game.

Now on to the question that started this inane ramble, have ref’s bought into this myth? Do they allow teams to be dirty against us because they honestly believe it is the only way to get a fair game? The small conspiracy theorist in me thinks the FA have an agenda and we are not in their grand scheme but that is silly and I try and quash those thoughts. So what is the answer to this question, why is it that teams seem to be allowed to be “overly-physical” and “robust” with us?

I have found a website that says this in a far more technical and clearer way than I ever could.

http://numbersgameblog.blogspot.com/2011/02/quantifying-bias-of-phil-dowd.html

Have a read, it will explain what I am ham-fistidly trying to say.

It seems to me that yes, we are not good enough but far more sinisterly, there is a bias from the governing body’s officials against us and I for one would like to know why.

    Morning…

Good read Will, I’m with Lee to, throw the book at Shrek and set an example, i bet they would if it was one of ours….

  2. rico says:

Have to admit, I am sick and tired of listening to Wengers excuses when we drop points, he needs to wake up and see the real reason we let ourselves down on so many occassions.

We are simply not good enough and won’t be until he rings a few changes in players..

But, I do believe we are not playing on a level playing field when it comes to the refs, just look at the Newcastle and Swampie result, on both occassions it was Dowd….

And who was the ref on Saturday?

  3. James says:

i think its high time Wenger buys a proven Gunner. We seem to lack that. Our trusted gunner Van persie was a midfielder and that element of passing the ball is still within him. we need a person like Samuel Etoo who has an eye for goal. we Also need another physically strong centre back. If we do this then we will lift trophies.

  4. Potter says:

One of the reasons why we don’t get the free kicks is because usually the foul is late and the ball has moved on and we still have possession. I’ve lost count the number of times that I have seen the play waved on whilst the next recipient of the ball gets up from an off the ball body check. The advantage rule can only be used if the referee actually understands the play and sees where a move breaks down , unfortunately most referees only have a short attention span and any advantage is lost.

  5. W.A.T.H says:

Rico, do agree dowd is crap but he didn’t deny us penalties or dis-allow a goal or anything like that on saturday, we didn’t create we didn’t turn up we failed to score we had no passion or fight or urgency not dowd so it’s nit picking in this instance when we were quite simply utter crap and it’s not been the first time. A team fighting relegation were more up for it than a team supposedly fighting to win the league, what a joke that is…!

  6. rico says:

Potter – they manage to remember if its against us though 😉

Hi WATH – i was referring to the elbow in Nasri, he didn’t give anything for that, but i bet if JD or Kos had gone in the same, they would have seen a card come out…

  7. W.A.T.H says:

Yeh maybe true Rico but lets rather not be pedantic about the odd decision when we were shit….. We picking up on a single excuse just like wenger to paper over the fact that we not good enough. Lets deal with not being good enough then moan abt refs etc lata when the team can actually roll their sleeves up and compete.

  8. Will says:

    Morning guys.

Thank you Rico for putting my rambling thoughts on the net and I am still at a loss to explain as to why we are treated differently by refs.

  9. rico says:

I don’t blame Dowd for our pathetic showing WATH, that is down to wenger and his rubbish players who were obviously thinking about where to go on their summer hols…

But, I do understand where Will is coming from overall during our season…

  10. Potter says:

Furthermore looking for free kicks is a fruitless exercise because we don’t utilise them , just knock it sideways and get back into the pass passing routine.

  11. rico says:

    Morning Will,

I didn’t see you sneak in sorry 😉

Its me that thanks you for sending your ramblings in 😉

  12. arsenal fan says:

no more excuses man we gotta win by hook or by crook!
if we gotta win we gotta win ugly who the fuck cares in the end how we won a win is a win

  13. Will says:

Wath, I am not saying the refs as an excuse, I am saying why is it happening and does it affect players when the ball is bouncing?

  14. Will says:

Oh I agree.Lee, read back through the entries and you will see that I blame no one but Wenger and the players. We have players that would struggle in the championship yet we persevere with them.

This was more about how I have noticed double standards by the refs and how it seems we are allowed to be kicked. I was wondering if the media born myth that the these lesser teams have to be dirty with us to beat us has filtered down to the ref’s and that is why we seemed to be kicked with impunity.

  15. Joaquim Moreira says:

Good post Will. I have said the same since a few weeks ago. I take another example: do you remember the penalty that gave the 3rd goal of the MU against the WH? Recall also a shot of AA on Saturday it was “cut” by a defense of BR in the first half? What’s th difference? Furthermore, given the distance that the shot was made, the defense of BR could have had time to lift his arm, something that WH defense had no chance …
I have also been told that RVP withdrew the entry space to the medium. RVP is a No. 10 and not a 9. Chamack or Bendtner have to play to hold the defenses.
The other issue, is that currently,is better who tactically is superior and have the control of the match. MU does not dazzle, football has “boring”,but has, among others, these two characteristics. By having them, does not fail or lose in the decisive moments or in the cups finals.

  16. Will says:

I have been saying for years we need a goal poacher. Someone who doesn’t give monkey’s about passing, round the corner flicks or being part of a million passes and just want’s to score.

We all talk about Henry but in this team, I would love to see Ian Wright in this team.

  17. W.A.T.H says:

Will, you won’t hear an argument from me regarding us getting crap decisions we all been a round long enough to know we get stitched up time and time again but it never stopped previous teams playing and winning, its something you have to get on with, it’s not right it’s unfair and all the other things BUT bottom line is get on with it and show your better than that. I would say if this is even in the back of their minds it actually highlights how sensative and fragile they really are and again just emphasizes how much we lack spirit gitsa nd bottle to just roll our sleeves up and get on with things, GG would of used it as a “them v us” scenario all the players do know is let their heads go down and show nothing !!.

  18. W.A.T.H says:

Wrighty would score 40 a season with the chances we make….! Fact………….

BUT we’d still concede plenty with a poor spine !!.

  19. Will says:

I agree with you Wath but we never went against this level of “bias” from ref’s. How many games do you watch and at the end think, how much do you cost ref?

  20. Potter says:

We’ve sadly reached a point where since they went full time professional ,they have become too high profile and they are full of their own importance

  21. W.A.T.H says:

Honestly Will I think we have always had to put up with this amount of bias but becasue the team went above it and normally won we didn’t take it into account as much…! Now we are cos the team is not good enough.

  22. Will says:

So, ddoes anyone care about the rest of the season or are we waiting for the summer to see what Wenger and/or the board do?

  23. Will says:

I agree Rico. As long as we keep 2nd or at least 3rd I will be happy. But this summer is the biggest in Wenger’s career as he is getting far more pressure from the AKB brigade.

  24. rico says:

It only had to be a matter of time before the so called akb’s saw sense, some will never change though as they support wenger rather than our club..

wenger looks and sounds really down now and if that means he will change his view towards buying players then this last few weeks will have kind of been worth the misery…

if he carries on the same way, Lord hell us all….

  25. Will says:

Surely he has to see the failings in Diaby, Denilson, Rocisky, Almunia, Squil and Nik B? Surely he needs to see we need bite in our midfield? Surely he see’s the need for an out and out goal scorer?

I think he he makes no changes this summer, it will be his last season.

  26. SD-London says:

    hi all and Hi Will!

I will not at all agree with you here WILL and yes we are not being protected enough by the officials and yes some teams are so rubbish in the Premiership (e.g West Ham yesterday )they are not suppose to be in the league .

But i will categorically say to you that this is the worst Arsenal team that Wenger has assembled in a decade.

We played against ten men towards the end and then nothing still. We have a rubbish team and Wenger still amazes me on how he is getting them this far still in the 2nd position in the league.

Will forget the conspiracy theory this team is rubbish Rubbish and Rubbish

  27. Will says:

I agree SD, this is a crap team.

    Ches
    JD
    TV
    Sagna
    Clichy*
    Jack
    Cesc
    AA
    Song*
    Van Persie
    Theo
    Rambo

Are they only keepers I think we have.

    *On the brink.

  28. rico says:

    Will,

The way things are going, I’m not sure Wenger should be given another summer to waste..

Something is wrong, the players were kept in the changing rooms long after the game had ended and i have read stories that there were a few probs at H/T too….

  29. SD-London says:

Will! Imagine the below players were still in this team

    Toure
    Flamini
    Gilberto
    Ashley Cole (just to say)
Even Adebayor Looks like a star now, compared to the present lot.
    Lasan Diara
    Gallas
Even Viera is still making impact(Watch Man City game)

Just to mention a few that Wenger has sold for one reason or the other because he thought the present lot should be given a chance.

But they are weak , rubbish , lack believe and over-rated

  30. rico says:

    Hi SD

I think we get a rough deal from the refs BUT, we should be good enough to overcome games without worrying what a ref is doing, we should have slaughtered Blackburn on Saturday with the side we put out but no, we were lacklustre, disinterested, off the pace at yet again it seemed to me that the players thought the game was all too easy for them…

Then, when we needed a half time motivation talk from the manager, did we get one?

From the way we played in the second half I would say no…

Reality is that some are not good enough, some can’t be arsed to play at their best and overall, it seems that not many of our players get the goose bumps that the ‘old lot’ would have done every time they put their Arsenal shirt on….

  31. W.A.T.H says:

Rico, am not sure I want us to finish 2nd……. We’ll then be told how great we did and what an improvement it was on 4th place…..! Catch 22 for me as we needs Champs League footie to attract decent players but then again wenger doesnt buy decent players he wants 16yr old kids and not quality 26yr old players who can make this team great again. The board would feel the pinch if we failed to qualify and maybe only then when they hit in the pocket would they wake up in the real world and see the problems we have at the club. They in cuckoo land at the moment as they also only seek 4th place and thats their ambition only…! Big club my arse….!

  32. SD-London says:

Yes Rico very soon and it is going to be nasty , you know how i get when i get angry this lot call players.

  33. rico says:

4th will do me WATH, we just cannot afford to not qualify as we won’t get back in there all the time wenger is in post…

also, then nasri misses the first game in the qualifier 😉

You honestly think the board would be that fussed if we didn’t qualify? Wenger would just say its a good chance to win a trophy in europa cup or whatever its called…

Also, if we don’t get 4the, that will mean the yids will, i for one cannot stomach that prospect…

  34. rico says:

amband – we certainly need more british steel in the side, but i would go beyond them just being english, we need players who support arsenal as well as play for them, players who are proud to play for us….

  35. rico says:

    Will,

i hope we don’t have this lot by the time the qualifiers come round, in fact i don’t give a toot if we don’t have wenger either by then unless he abandons his stupid buying policies….

  36. Lee says:

How about buying the necessary players at the start of the summer, not fcking about for bargain basements at the end of the window?

  37. W.A.T.H says:

How about wenger does what he promises every year “i will have my players bought by June” hasn’t he said that the last three seasons…? just as season ticket renewal letters arrive by the way and then surprise surprise no buys buy August and then it’s bargain basement buys to try covers the cracks…….!

Lies lies lies n more lies….!

  38. rico says:

    Spot on Lee –

no more wasting ‘big’ money n the likes of Squlli, even Kos cost us near 9million when another 5 million prob would have been enough to get Cahill….

  39. HCAA says:

    Morning fellow Gooners/Goonerettes,

Good write-up Will, sort of in agreement, but we seem to enjoy making life as difficult as possible for ourselves. I wanted Wenger out last summer, it’s beyond a joke that he is still here. Was the Ref at West Ham v Man Utd game a Man Utd fan? No red-card for Vidic, and their ‘penalty’? Talk about hand them the title!

  40. W.A.T.H says:

Hi HC…….. The establishment want the mancs to win but ain’t we making it real easy for them as well…!

  41. Lee says:

I keep thinking about the needless points this shower have thrown away….this should’ve/could’ve been virtually wrapped up by now!! Piss poor with no fight/bollox….and as someone said the other day here on HH, “playing for pay packets not the red & white shirt!!”

  42. rico says:

WATH – maybe a few of our want to go play for the mancs, thats how much we have gifted them….

Lee, we’d be well clear now if we showed some comittment, we have just thrown games due to lack of effort – like i said earlier, that starting eleven should have beaten BB easy, but no, gutless….

  43. W.A.T.H says:

As gifted as they are technically Rico they lack one very important ingredient…..! Fight…! If you not got that your not gonna win a piss up in a brewery..!
We been saying it for yrs, no one there to teach them what it means to pull on that Red shirt… Noone to make sure they know what it means to play for “OUR” club….! the invincibles were taught by Adams and co but who has taught these babies what it means..? Noone…! Thats why we fail. No passion for the shirt and none to fight when the chips r down…!

  44. SD-London says:

3 draws in a row thats 6 points thrown away.We would have being 1 point behind Man Utd with a game in hand .

Talk about throwing away the title? No we are gifting Manure Utd the title .

We are a laughing Stock now and nobody fears us and Wenger has lost the plot.

  45. HCAA says:

    Wath,

Far too easy! I can see them beating us at the Emirates (again!). I’m not looking forward to the games against Tottenham, Liverpool, Bolton or Stoke either. I think we may just have enough to hang on for 4th, but I wouldn’t put money on it.

  46. rico says:

    WATH,

Didn’t B’ham show us that in the CC final….

Team spirit, fight, passion and desire won that day…

  47. rico says:

HCAA – i don’t look forward to those either, Ches and JD could both be back in 2/3 weeks and boy we need them, what seemed a decent run in for us suddenly seems daunting…..

  48. Lee says:

All in all we’re (me included) not really looking forward to our remaining games…and we should be!!This club is becoming more of a joke every season….

  49. W.A.T.H says:

If things carry on like this the mancs could win the league when they play us at the bowl……… how’s that for rubbing our noses in it….!

  50. Will says:

As I keep saying, something needs to be done this summer. Either Wenger has to open his eyes and see the dross he has places his reputation in or the board need to open their eyes and demand Wenger earns his wage.

  51. Lee says:

But Will, can you put your hand on your heart and think it will happen? Because I really am unsure….

  52. Will says:

I don’t know. If Wenger sticks with these losers, promotes from within and doesn’t bring in the players we need. He needs sacking as he has lost the desire and is happy to float.

  53. agirlagunner says:

Good one, Will. Can’t help but feel that the general sentiment of opposition is that it’s okay to get physical with AFC, otherwise they’d get battered. And it is true we do not get enough protection, which club has suffered worse injuries?

Having said that, we’ve been dire dire dire for quite a while now. There’s not much to like about many/any of our players right now. I hope they read the blogs, so they know the full extent of our collective ire.

  54. HCAA says:

You look at our proud history, our long unbroken run in the top flight, which we all acknowledge hasn’t always brought the best or most-effective football, and there have been a good few years when we’ve been ordinary and even downright dire, but it has never been as flat and life-less as it is now. The club just seems to have surrendered and died.

  55. SD-London says:

Will ! nothing out of all you stated will happen untill we fans make a stand .

We must demand a change and scare the living day light out of them.
They are too comfortable , boo the hell out of them when they play rubbish.

Wenger needs to get an hear full in our next game.

Wenger is no more inspired , trust me on that.

He is the most relaxed manger i have ever seen.

How he manges to find words after a terrible performance is always beyond me.

The present team is rubbish rubbish rubbish.

  56. JonJon says:

i dont know what to say anymore..
nice post will..you wont hear an arguement from me about the fouls..
    wenger is a moaner though
    evening yall
    hoe we feeling..
ive got a severe case of fuck-its…

  57. K-TR7 says:

Hi all.i’ve been staring at this blogpost the entire day but i don’t have anything to add.im blogged out.

  58. Will says:

Yep, I am bored saying we need to get rid ore and we need to get in.

Just want this season over so I can see what is on the managers and boards minds.

  59. JonJon says:

    what board, will..??
fiszmanns on his last legs in switzerland
phw has less shares than gunnersaurus and is only there cos hes no threat to anyone and he does as hes told..
lady nina got booted out (id love to give her one by the way 😉 )
stans not doing a right lot
and they wont let barron von greenback in the board room..
    ivan was picked by wenger…
so whos running the fucking club and telling wenger what to do??
answers simple..wengers telling wenger what to do..

  60. JonJon says:

most fans went nuts at stage 3 osi
some went nuts at stage 4-5
the rest have gone nuts at 6 and im talking about fans of 30-40-50 years who are now fucked off..

theres a small minority who still remain that dont give a shit about whats happened but they passionless in my opinion…

  61. Osi says:

I gave up the day we draw at WestBrom from Arsenal point of view, but there was still hope with ManU playing so badly despite being supported by Ref. Ass.

It’s not a good time to moan, from fans point of view, about ref. when your own team fails so miserably, but ManU still getting all the support they can get from The Ref.World. They had two crucial decisions go for them; a clear miss of sending off Vidic; and an imaginary penalty. The sending off after 2 nil down and a penalty that ensured the winning. Contrast this with Arsenal who could have a clear penalty as a result of handball not given. As I said I feel let down by our team last Saturday rather a Ref.

  62. rico says:

I am one of the 30-40-50 years and i am well cheesed off…

Sadly, i think the only way our club will change it’s ways is with a take over….

Don’t want it but it’s just all a bit too cosy at the top if you ask me….

  63. Osi says:

You know JONJON I am passionate and got really angry and mad everyone at Arsenal but then after few weeks I get over it and start again and enjoy the football. The world is a dangerous place and there are other important issues than football to be nuts about.

  64. rico says:

Rooney has been charged, shock horror!!

Bet you that is only because all of daytime tv channels have been talking about it and they are disgusted….

  65. rico says:

Osi – but on here it’s arsenal and i am at a wits end with the club i love……

what did DD do jj, other than the trying to sell to stan, which funny enough happened anyway..

  66. JonJon says:

    it wont matter rico
utd still have hernandez and top scorer berbatoss
and they have wengers mental strength….
they could ban rooney for the rest of the season it wont matter a jot to us…

  67. Osi says:

    Hi Rico you said:

“Sadly, i think the only way our club will change it’s ways is with a take over….

Don’t want it but it’s just all a bit too cosy at the top if you ask me….”

I’m not disagreeing with on that. I always thought a la Wenger that we could save for few years and come back competing against the best in winning trophies, but sadly, since that Dubai guy took over ManC and made Chelsky and ManU look like poor moneyless clubs I started to doubt. What future for a club like Arsenal if football salaries are increasing by half every year and not great footballers are being sold and bought like they’re species of their own.

  68. JonJon says:

looks like dein saw it coming rico and tried to stop it by any means…
he caused a bit of a mess but i think most people are coming round to why he did what he did..

willing to forgive and forget but its time he came back and sorted it out cos nobody else seems able to

  69. JonJon says:

    dein was wengers sidekick anyway..
its gone to shit since he lost his buddy…

ive despised dein for a while but ive come round to the idea..
would be interesting to hear waths thoughts on dein…

  70. rico says:

jj, i made reference to that more because they have actually charged him, as for the league, it won’t make much difference as we keep handing to them….

  71. rico says:

But Osi, they could sort the salaries out easily, get rid of all the dross who earn too much.

Look at how much they earn? Quite a few don’t even play that much or are injured and we’d be better off taking what we can for them and pay the noney to a player who wants to play for arsenal, or at least a player who is prepared to give all he’s got for arsenal….

  72. Steve Palmer says:

    Evening all,
Blinding read Will, been saying that for ages,no doubt about there being an agenda, but i think it goes a lot further than the govening bodies, i watched our game on a stream, and the comentator never had a positive word to say about us, we had 70% of the play and all he would say was how well their team defended. I was coming home from work tonight and was listening to talksport, he was taking about Wilshere, he was saying that Wenger uses him far to much and how he’s only ninteen and has young bones and should be rested more,as he has already played 45 games to now, in the next breath he was saying, jack should play for the under 21, the man was just a pratt. Everybody no matter who they are, pundits, ex players, managers, comentators, keep on and on about Wenger being moved on as he has lost his winning ways. Now its alright us slagging off our manager, but those tossers should keep their traps shut. Many Many teams have gone forever without winning anything, and all these wankers want to talk about is us and Wenger going. Thats pissed me off so bad i am going to start a campaign of support for our old dozy tight Frenchman, and hopefully the doddery old bugger may buy sombody, and get back to the good old days. I have said it many times, football is fixed absolutly no doubt about that, every blog should state that all the time and not let up, maybe then the cheats will play the game the way it should be played, honest and fair.

  73. Osi says:

Rico do you think that if we got rid of the people you name here constantly we save that much to pay someone says like C Ronaldo, or Benzema. No. The salaries you’re talking about eliminating are in the 25-50 bracket and that wouldn’t pay a world class in the current price.

  74. Osi says:

And then Rico even if making available some sums by getting rid of some players can help in paying good salary for world class players you also have to consider that world acquisition is not all about salary but about the transfer money.

  75. K-TR7 says:

Whats the point of discussing Arsenal anyway?they aren’t worth our time and money at this point in time.im actually surprised that there is a debate going on.kudos to you guys.

  76. rico says:

I do Osi – add the wages with what we could sell them for, we could easily shift 8 players from the whole squad and replace them with three bloody good players…

  77. rico says:

Steve – Jack was knackered at the weekend, that was englands fault, not wengers, that TS reporter is an idiot 😉

  78. rico says:

KT – Fans love Arsenal, we support them through good and bad and we blog the same, otherwise HH may as well shut down…

We need to vent our feelings….

  79. Osi says:

Rico suppose we got rid of: Diaby, Denilson, Rosicky, Squid, Almunia which would save us about the salary of a C. Ronaldo or a Rooney or a YaToure of this world, then where do we get money to pay for transfers of about 25 to70 millions. Even if we borrow such amounts then our squad will still need some other squad players who will definitely cheaper than Denilson and Diaby’s of this world. You have to look things holistically.

  80. rico says:

interesting point that jj, it was his attempt to bring stan on that got him the push eventually…

But does Stan plan to takeover?

I have a feeling that we we are bought it will be by neither of them…

  81. rico says:

I’m not talking about the like of those you list Osi, I actually don’t think we need big name/big wages –

We need players who want to play for Arsenal, not just look after their back pocket, that kind of player won’t demand a 200k per week salary….

  82. Osi says:

A billionaire takeover of Arsenal would really alienate me. I’m for a sustainable business model that make shares available to Fans as well. I’m not sure about the longterm future of the wealthy clubs of ManC, Chelsea and debt ridden ones like Liverpool and ManU. Bankruptcy and changing hands only brings headaches to fans and job losses for employees.

  83. rico says:

The other thing you need to think about Osi, we once paid wages to

    Pires
    Henry
    Freddie
    Bergkamp
    Paddy

All at the same time, and we were making less money..

    We now make much more…….

  84. JonJon says:

    afobe and jet
    lasbury and frimnpong
    bartley

then go out and buy someone who can defend
someone who can run a midfield
someone who can actually use the wing and cross a fucking ball
and someone who can actually finish and likes to finish and not pass it to whoever is nearest..

  85. Osi says:

rico I agree with you when you on this:

“We need players who want to play for Arsenal, not just look after their back pocket, that kind of player won’t demand a 200k per week salary”

But then I don’t know where and how we got such players, you the only time I question Wenger, who I love, is when I see him get talented players who lack fighting spirit or play like they’re not interested in playing for Arsenal. I’m really starting to dislike our current crop because I think they’re not giving it all they can.

  86. K-TR7 says:

Rico if there was really a bust up thats excellent news.at least it shows someone cares in there.

  87. rico says:

    Osi…

We have some coming through, Lansbury, JET, Bartley, Afobe, Chuks, Frimpong to name some, Wenger just needs to buy a keeper, CH and Striker, with luck, a winger too..

    Scott Parker
    Gary Cahill
An ageing striker who knows where the goal is, Forlan, Horsey, Drogba, even Anelka?

How much would they cost us to buy, 35 million??

  88. rico says:

I’m pleased with that rumour too KT…. They were also kept behind after the end of the game, for a long long time….

  89. Steve Palmer says:

Now i think Will has hit a nerve by what he says, the reason i say that is, while playing back a few games and watching again some of the decisions, Barca game is a good example every time we went forward although not to many, the ref would blow up for a foul and give the ball back to Barca, and the way we defended that night was first rate, Barca was struggling to get through us, come the second half Barca had to score, or they would be out, the ref gave a red to Van Persi for Kicking the ball away, in other words a shot, put us down to ten men, where have we seen that before against the same team that is not a coincidence that is an agenda.

Now when you look at it like that, and you look at our team in all honesty its not a bad team, granted a few could be a lot better but still any team that can keep 70% of the play cant be that bad, imagine getting blown up for every powder puff tackle and yellow cards dished out like confeti and it doesnt take long for you to lose interest, plus when your tackled like Sagna was Saturday with a two footed stamp and the ref hardly flinches tells me the game is fixed, no wonder our players couldnt give a toss would you. and if you say anything your lightweight and cant take it. Wills right some of our players have had some very harsh decisions go against them but very seldom does it go the other way. The truth of the matter is that they wont let us win.

  90. Osi says:

    Rico you said:
“The other thing you need to think about Osi, we once paid wages to

    Pires
    Henry
    Freddie
    Bergkamp
    Paddy

All at the same time, and we were making less money..

    We now make much more…….”

I agree with you on that and it’s the reason I give Arsene the benefit of the doubt in not buying big. I mean HE wasn’t shy to buy big paying big money for players who were obviously not performing for their clubs. He had that adventurous spirit of trying hard to find quality. But that was before we built The Stadium and accrued huge debt. I have no reason to not believe that if he had that option again he could buy big again.

  91. Osi says:

Rico I like Parker as he’s the only player that can improve Arsenal defensive midfield and he won’t be that expensive. but you know there are not others really can come cheap like him.

  92. K-TR7 says:

We want the old Wenger back-the ruthless one.we want the old professor back not this maniac kicking bottles on the touchline.we know he is still there somewhere…

  93. JonJon says:

    hey ktr

rico drogbas available on a free..we’d only need his wages for a year or two…

and no i havent heard any rumour
    do tell

  94. K-TR7 says:

Steve you have a valid point you know.at the camp nou we had 18 fouls and 5 yellow cards and 1 red.barca had 9 fouls but no card despite abidal grabbing rvp’s neck and alves scissor tackling nasri.

  95. Osi says:

Guys you know I get upset when we talk about Ref. bias against Arsenal. I used to question myself sometimes about moaning about refs. but not anymore because this season’s ref. biases are beyond belief. I mean ManU complained, moaned as if they world ended when the ref. gave a decision against them v Chelsea, but then few weeks forward they received some favours back. In contrast Arsenal are still loosing points because of that bias.

  96. Steve Palmer says:

    KTR7 evening,
I recon its getting right up their hooters that were still in second, i can see more barca decisions, in the run in.

  97. JonJon says:

    i want parker
hes got two years left in him and hes perfect for jack..
he runs around like a rabid dog and he can play as well
hes carried too many teams hes too good not to be playing at a higher level
    so lets have him

  98. Osi says:

I can advice to get steven Gerard as well JONJON to bolster our midfield and compete with Song and Wilshere, and to give our team of talented flair forwards a fighting spirit.

  99. rico says:

Osi – my benefit of the doubt has gone, he has had enough time, we have had money for two seasons to make the changes…

KT, the only one i am unsure of from my list is JET but he hasn’t been given a real chance yet…

jj, then lets get the Drog on a free and give Parker a good few years playing at the top instead of scrapping for survival in the PL…

  100. rico says:

jj, it was something i read – a bust up with players turning on wenger, i don’t know if its true or now….

  101. Steve Palmer says:

I think their heart has been knocked out of them rico, young players feel the tiredness after the Christmas jam packed schedule, and as soon as they get a chance to rest internationals come about, useless internationals where our so called shit team have about nine. The fa should make the season a month longer. or cut out a competition.we should cut out the Emerates cup more chance of our boys getting injured, and all the useless tours to far and wide. but as you know its all about money.

  102. JonJon says:

    osi
i would take no fucking prisoners and i wouldnt jog around like a fairy…

put me and wath in the midfield playing behind jack and cesc and nasri and watch us go…

    we’d fuck people up..

  103. Osi says:

lol JonJOn I’m not sure I wanna watch that one, but you certainly wouldn’t get badder than Sir Deni.

  104. Joaquim Moreira says:

F.C. Porto: Champion of logic constructivists http://www.eleganche.es de Jose David Lopez
American baseball fans, tell a story about the difficulty of the work of their members. Three of them met to talk one day. “There are plays and plays failed success. I determine which is which, “said one. “There are plays of success and failure. I sanction what I see are, “said the second. The third, however, stressed that “there are moves to success or failure unless I not been punished as such.” Everyone wanted to argue their decisions but while the former was intended to be objective, the other two were constructivists.
And since there is a valid criterion to discern whether a theory is better than another, we must endorse those approaches that are useful, consistent with its context, not exclusive and facilitators of change. And there comes the logic. In football, despite the efforts of the humblest and equity still existing in many championships, continue to excel those who mix work, good management and quiet sports policy. Because constructivism is imposed, structure success successful ideals who recycle and punishes those who dare challenge him without adequate means. The status of Portugal’s leading logically constructive F.C.Porto.
It is not news. Seven of the last nine championships in the Superliga, have gone to Do Dragao. Everything responds to a project hopefully will continue, which saves kept their proposals despite the change of players and understands the path to success as a long-term path where, above all, do not break their premises. The club is paramount and prevails over those who advocate on the lawn, in turn, strictly selected by a group of scouts and international specialists who know how to make maximum profit to euros invested. That explains why a club that has lost more than half of their stars in recent years (say it has been historical regret) and got almost 300 million euros with recent sales as (the first to come to head), Lisandro Lopez, Lucho Gonzalez, Quaresma, Anderson, Carvalho, Paulo Ferreira, Bosingwa, Deco, Cissoko, Bruno Alves, Diego Ribas and Raul Meireles, keep the script untouchable crown it as ‘untouchable’ in Portugal.
A giant in the design entity working, disciplined in its estates and left in a country with archaic legends where it has real rivals to overcome. After the failure of last season, where summer sales in excess over the amount contributed by new recruits, forcing them to be isolated on a lower step, the Dragons again show hierarchy. Prepared for greater challenges and with immaculate image of who would be able to compete head to head with the greats of the current Champions, only the tertiary cache Superliga, historically prevented reap greater international success. However, it is the most titled club in the new century. The precariousness of their surroundings, avoids development on a larger scale an obligation to export their best pieces and restore the machine. Have scouts around the world and a perfect gear market. The pledges, from all over the country and abroad, go through several satellites properly structured teams for their benefit. One more statistic that reflects the huge role of an institution struggling to rein in what may be ostracized primary that football has on those who do not live in soils Spanish, English, Germans or Italians.
And after a campaign in which his tyranny had been more cruel than ever (unbeaten) with 23 wins and two draws in 25 league games this Sunday closed ranks. Porto were crowned champions in the best way possible in the stage of the enemy, a Benfica without the freshness of the last year and showed to be a mirage, a project with good roles but without the necessary continuity. And also tried to sabotage the rival joy stadium lights off and turning on the sprinklers in the celebrations of Oporto. Vilas Boas, coach of the future, which can not be separated ever José Mourinho (with whom he worked and learned), he lifted his first title of champion and starts and a career expected to be enigmatic. Thirteen consecutive wins that equaled Mourinho’s own records in the 2003-2004 season, the third youngest coach to win the Portuguese championship (just weeks apart) and the ‘double’ (Super-League) and in hand mythical data can make if you add the Cup (it is in semi-final against Benfica) and the Europa League (located in rooms with lots of flavor and forecasts Portuguese title in sight).
His ideas on the grass begin in the tactics of their core discipline (Fernando, Moutinho, Belluschi and Guarín), in his invaluable outlet pressure on the ball and love rival to open the turf by gangs seeking to deepen. Lanes lover of long-distance side (Fucile and Pereira are examples of this) and ends with imbalances to reach baseline (Varela and Hulk), has re-established the usual order of football Portugal. The 21 goals (as well as top assistant championship) of outstanding Hulk whose sale this summer fall into that disciplined corporate strategy and the response capacity of a resurgent Falcao and character of a united and created years ago to repeat success , I returned to the dais. Constructivist logic prevails and that for years, has an exclusive basis in Do Dragao.
