Sagna wanting City move? A few proving the doubters wrong….

During the summer, a common theme among many fans seemed to be that they wanted a new left-back as ours needed strengthening. Neither Kieran Gibbs or Andre Santos were deemed good enough.

A similar stance was also taken when the names Carl Jenkinson and Per Mertesacker were brought up, both were considered to be no more than just ‘squad players’ at best and simply not good enough at worst.

Meanwhile Vito Mannone was totally written off as a flakey Italian goalkeeper!

So it must be a sobering thought for many of us to have to acknowledge the effort that the above players have put in during the opening three games.

They are the unsung heroes and have very much been responsible for the teams 3 successive clean sheets.

Of course the organisation, discipline, tactical awareness, instilled in them by Steve Bould and the coaching of Neil Banfield, cannot be overlooked, but they have all responded positively and intelligently.

I find it heartening to see these guys, these unsung heroes, showing everyone that they’re not a bunch of donkeys and that they can actually play the game.

We all have our favourites, and of course we all seem to have certain players we simply don’t rate, so there will always be some who’ll never be convinced. Worst still, there will be a few who would wish some kind of calamity on these players, just so they could crow that ‘I told you so’…

Personally it never bothers me to be proved wrong about a player, as I have the irritating habit of putting the success of Arsenal before my own ego…

Fortunately the overwhelming majority on HH seem to share that trait but there are plenty who don’t!

The transfer window maybe shut but if the comments allegedly made by Bacary Sagna to French newspaper L’Equipe are true than we could soon be looking for a right back, or Carl Jenkinson will be making that position his own.

Our French right back was asked about our summer departures:

When your two best players go, you ask yourself questions.

Disappointed: Sagna has blasted the club over their transfer policy

Fans come up to me in street, and I understand the frustration. Like them I don’t understand everything. Everyone knew Robin was leaving. But Alex?

He’s 24 and with three years left on his contract. I still don’t understand it. He’s a huge loss.

At the end of this season, I will have one year left on my contract.

I’m the only starting player left from 2007. In May, I watched Manchester City’s parade on television and I saw Samir and Gael [Clichy] lift the trophy. I want that.

On the evidence so far Alex Song’s departure isn’t a huge loss.

As for wanting what our two old boys achieved, well he has two choices. One is to join them in Manchester, the second is to help his current club achieve the same things and right now we look to have a squad of players who could to do just that….

As much as Sagna is a top class player, no one man is bigger than Arsenal and if he wants to stay with club, he’s better off not talking to the press about the clubs transfer policy, otherwise he too will find himself a gonner….

That’s it for another day, have a good one….

Good morning everyone! Gone are the days when the big players talked about how much they want to join our beloved club. Now all we hear is how much the big players want to leave us! Please god, let this be the year we start winning trophies, so that this evil circle can be turned around. Greetings from Denmark

  2. rico says:

    Morning all,

Good post there Ak, I have had my doubts about Merts but so far so good. He’s certainly the one we need in their for the sides with big strikers…

Jenks, well much much better, not so gung ho and once his nerves settle in the game, he’s not bad eh ….

  3. John says:

It’s called contract negotiation tactics. Wenger had already announced a few days before Sagna’s interview that Arsenal was going to start contract talks with him. This interview is Sagna’s Agent inspired first move (that’s how I see it anyway). Supporters would revolt if another senior player left, making hay while the sun shines…

  4. Canadian Gooner says:

Good morning Rico and fellow Housers.

Rico — Re: International Break. It must be bad if it is boring before it has even begun.

Good evening Scott. How are things down under? I like your plan for players talking out of turn, but two weeks wages is the maximum penalty that the club can impose. I’m sure if he could save six months wages he would have done so,

  5. GunnerPete says:

As I said last year….Sagna is and has been very overrated by some..not me. For all his tenacity he is poor when getting back to poisition. He is the worst crosser we have had in years and he has made many clangers that have been blamed on Per etc. Jenks is already better in most aspects and is very young. Yennaris or Coquelin will not let the side down either. SO SELL SAGNA ASAP I SAY. That means all the disloyal bunch who gave only 75% for a couple of years will have gone and we have a better squad. I also believe that Arsene will sign a superstar in Jan to help with goals….lets just see.

  6. ArsenalDK says:

I love Per, but as Suarez demonstrated, he’s slow, and can be caught out of position sometimes, especially against the fast players..

  7. Canadian Gooner says:

AK — Good article. I like your positive outlook on things, especially after the doom, gloom, wailing, and gnashing of teeth at and after the close of the transfer window. I think the team as a whole and the more self concious players will benefit from the positive vibes from the supporters like the away fans gave at Anfield. We know you are the Reverend, are you also the choirmaster of the ‘Celestial Choir’?

  8. rico says:

John, especially a player like Sagna going…

It certainly is CG, two weeks worrying about players getting injured..

Pete – but, all our defenders were all over the place, if Sagna learns from Bould the way that others have, then things can only get better.

I’m not sure it was the players fault, the focus seemed to be on attacking and Bac got caught out a few times too far forward, as did Jenks and Gibbs but not so much so far this season…

  9. rico says:

ADK – Agree that Per is slower than TV and Kos, but for fixtures like Liverpool, I’m sure Kos would have ordinarily have started with TV but he wasn’t 100% fit..

  10. ArsenalDK says:

Any news on Kos and Sagna Rico? Will they be ready after the international break? I’m really anticipating the Bosnia match tonight, as my favorite player Edin Dzeko is playing 🙂

  11. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico — Regards “but, all our defenders were all over the place”. It’s obvious that the defenders have been instructed that their primry duty is o defend. It wasn’t until the game away to Liverfool that Gibbs ventured forward like a wingback. While Jenks has staid in our won end. It seems the emphasis of our offence is to transition out our own end as quickly as possible with passes to the midfield for a counter-attack. It far more incisive than the many short passes and/or long dribbles of last season.

  12. Adam says:

Morning all. Interesting how, once they have some stature within the club, so many players seem to want to be manager as well and dictate who stays and who goes. Unless he has been misquoted, I say this is a stupid statement from Sagna and if it is meant to be a bargaining ploy, I would say it is even more stupid than that.

  13. rico says:

ADK, Kos is now fit, but Sagna is another few weeks away I believe, both he and Jack are due to start ball training…

  14. Scott from Oz says:

    Evening all!!
Things are great here in Oz…CG,thanks for asking.
I hope all is well up north.
International football should be played during breaks, but not two weeks into the season!!

  15. rico says:

    Morning Adam.

I too think it’s a stupid statement, IF it’s from him. Agree on the bargaining ploy too, he doesn’t need to be worrying about a new contract, he’ll get one with ease.

Unless of course the club feel differently after his two leg breaks…

  16. Adam says:

Hi Rico. If these are his words, then I am surprised at him. I notice that he seems more interested with who has gone that who has come in too.

  17. Scott from Oz says:

The way Jenks is going,at least Wenger can make Sagna earn his spot in the 11.
A month ago,he’d have been back half fit.
Do not forget how impressive Yennaris was v Utd at RB,either.

  18. rico says:

Funny how he and one who shall not be mentioned overlooked the players in Adam, player for player, we are stronger…

  19. potter says:

from his comments i deduce that the problems lie not so much with the playing staff but with a lack of leadership which has spread from the owner to the boardroom and down to the dressing room. agents are taking advantage of the reactive nature and riding roughshod over gazidis and in consequence wenger. kroenke is happy we make profit and share price is fine. his lackeys in london are happy because he is. phw just wants quiet life and the players want the same as we do….success.

  20. Adam says:

Scott. But I think the club value him and would offer him a new contract anyway. I can’t see that his mouthing off has done anything except take the polish off a good result and give the press some room for yet another spate of anti Arsenal headlines. I am also amazed that he speaks of Song as if he were such a vital player for us. If he has questions to ask about the club’s policies then he has access to Arsene Wenger surely. Why not ask him? I bet we all wish we could.

  21. hakzah says:

    good morning all

i think defo Sagna will go next summer .AW
doesn’t tolerate players coming out and slate his/club policy..(RIP)
and rightly so,Sagna’s statement is helping no-one,not only himself.

the team starting to gel and we can all see unity and
good spirit and hard work-rate among the players, why come out & question some dead & gone issues that can only disrubt the flow of the team !?

time for players to schtup and do what they know best….kick the ball

  22. Adam says:

Yes Scott. A slant here and there can make all the difference can’t it? On a slow news week they must have loved it when he chirped up with this one.

  23. Canadian Gooner says:

I don’t think that Sagna is angling for a transfer to Abu Dhabi Citeh. As Isaac mentioned they have just bought Maicon. However, I think Sagna will want to negotiate a new contract now, rather than later. He is 29 now and will be 31 at the end of his current contract, an age where Arsenal tend to offer renewable one year or short term contracts. If he can goad the club into negotating a new contrct now, he can probably negotiate a higher salary and a longer term. I’m not sure that the club will initiate serious discussions until Sagna demonstrates he is fully recoverd from his injuries.

  24. emma says:

If sagna’s statement was out before the transfer window closes he would have being sold. I think If he is fully fit Wenger would still be using Jenks to develop him. As for Sagna, 29, I see him being sold next season and should forget about contract extension. Yenaris is knocking on the RB position as well.

  25. rico says:

CG – about time too eh, AW in the past seems to have believed we could win games by scoring more, finally that seems to have changed.

We win games by not conceding, and scoring one or more 😉

  26. rico says:

I’m surprised by that move emma, thought he’d be involved in the CO Cup squad, maybe an indicated that we will be taking the competition a little more serious than usual…

Good for him as long as he plays..

  27. Adam says:

When you think how many years we have implored Wenger to take advantage of the defensive expertise of that back four, it’s a bit of a joke actually.

  28. Canadian Gooner says:

Re: Chuks Aneke’s Transfer to Crewe Alexandra.

A one month transfer would seem to be for a specific purpose (e.g. covering for an injured player’s recovery). I would think that there must be some guarantee of playing time or there would be no point for Arsenal or the player. Also possible is some future consideration.

  29. rico says:

How many of those years have we all been crying out for a defensive coach too Adam, yet AW has been stubborn. We saw what Keown did in 2006, yet here we are in 2012 and the penny has finally dropped.

I stand by what I wrote a few moths ago, Man Utd have only been as good as they have because they have had a regular turnover of assistant managers and imho, they have been the ones to keep the coaching fresh and Fergie has sat back and taken all the praise…

  30. bondex says:

good post AK….i cant be bothered by sagna’s comments the team is shaping up well in my opinion the only thing lacking in our game last season was our defending. It looks to me like that has been sorted out now.. trophies on their way….morning all.

  31. rico says:

emma, I think you might be right, the Dutchman is living proof of that…

CG – at least he’s not going to be ‘learning’ form Big Sam….

  32. hakzah says:

Adam….players are the worst when it comes to speaking and giving statements and at times they chew more than can swallow..

CG….i dont think Sagna’s statement will help him, rather the opposite when it comes to negotiating …clearly he just shot himself in the foot , and now he is a mil-miles away from new contract talks!
he will be sold come next summer.

and yes, agents can have some influence on players but surely its
all down to the players themselves ! agents can’t twist the players arms , its all to do with greed from both.

am afraid the beautiful game ‘s become a big humans market place

  33. rico says:

    Hi bondex/hakzah..

Of course there is another player who has made comments about the club and that is Coquelin. Suggestion is that he wants to be playing regularly within the next 6 months or he wants to move on…

Good job he’s tied down to a long contract…

  34. Canadian Gooner says:

hakzah — You might well be right about Sagna shooting himself in the foot. However, if you are a parent, you’ll know what extremes children will go to to get your attention. Maybe Sagna feels this is a way of getting some time face-to-face with Arsene. I’m sure he is well aware of Arsenal’s contract policies for older (i.e. 30+) players and wants to try and get a new contr

  35. Canadian Gooner says:

    Part II
…new contract now. Yes, he may well be sold next summer if Jenkinson continues to progress. Koscielny was also a little rough around the edges when he first came to Arsenal.

  36. rico says:

Olivier Giroud admits that Laurent Koscielny has been integral in helping him to settle at Arsenal and into English life.

The France international joined the Club from French champions Montpellier this summer, and has made a positive impression in his three appearances so far.

The 25-year-old played with Koscielny at French club Tours during the 2008/09 season, and he is thankful to have his friend alongside him once again.

“It’s important for me to have Laurent in the team because it’s easy for me to integrate and to speak with other players,” Giroud told Arsenal Player.

“I’ve known him for four years. We played together for Tours in Ligue 2 and I spent my time with him and another friend of ours. We played a very good season and we were not far away from being promoted to Ligue 1. It was unbelievable for Tours.

“He’s a very good player. I had a good time with him on and off the pitch and I’m very happy to join him at Arsenal. It’s a nice story for us.”

Giroud admits that Koscielny has also been key to helping him acclimatise to life in a new country.

“Sometimes we go to a French restaurant together,” he said. “It’s very good, very nice, the French food. English food? Not so bad.

“Sometimes we go out with our wives. I like spending time with him.”

  37. bondex says:

I’d rather not talk about sagna…it’ll only lead us trough that long road of speculations again where everything he does will be seen as a sign he is moving.

  38. hakzah says:

hi Rico – what le coq ? surely not ! he will come good coming years.

i think AW starting to realise there is no loyality in the game after all & started buying players over 25yrs …he suffered enough.

what is worrying …there is no value/respect or committment reagrding nature and length of players contract (Song), players clearly have the upper hand which is ruining the game .

any news about Theo situation ? dark cloud over that one !

CG – i know what you mean by Sagna wanting to force the issue re- his contract….but surely he would have been offered one if he kept it nice and direct with AW…. the last thing we want now is someone to come out ranting about transfer policy…thanks God we thought TW’s shut.

  39. rico says:

Fabregas to AC, not a chance 😉

That’s what reports suggest Coq said hak, nothing on afc.com though..

No news on Theo either, I suspect he’ll sign soon…

  40. allezkev says:

    Afternoon AKB’s
Afternoon Rico, thanks for the sub.
See ya Canuck, hung up me dog collar mate.
Suprised that no one has come on calling me delusional..?!
    Where’s Wath when ya need a tear-up?

  41. allezkev says:

I tend to agree with those that have suggested that Sagna’s comments are inspired by his agent.
Personally I hope the club can come to an arrangement.
But it could all depend on his fitness and how he has recovered from his 2nd broken leg?

  42. W.A.T.H says:

What a delusional load of old rubbish… Happy now Grandad…? 😉

Packet of country slices please Rico there’s a dear…! Oh and packet of choccie digestives as well pls.. Ta

  43. allezkev says:

Hey Rico, the additions at the end were great, cheers.

Hi Wath, I bet your around Camden Lock, on the piss?
    I wish I was…
Funny, but I thought that i’d court a bit more controversy than I have?!
Surely you don’t all agree with me? 😉
Wath, this weather is fantastic, what are we doing working???

  44. STV says:

I’ve never doubted Mertesacker nor considered him ’Simply not good enough at worst’. He was a proven international defender when he joined and it was obvious he need time to adapt with pace of PL. Still n4ed to improve against fast players as suggested

Over the years we have seen many young players develop and mature under AW. Sadly many of them leave when they reaches peak. Nice to see Gibbs progress. Wish he Wilshere and Ox provides an English core to the team for a long time. Can’t praise Jenks too much yet but he has shown good signs this season.

  45. W.A.T.H says:

Who said I’m working AK 😉
It’s nice driving around in all this heat… all that pollution must be great with your window rolled down 😉

I think people realise at the moment there isn’t much to moan at and moaning isn’t gonna change things anyway and your post is pretty much spot on so whats to argue with…!?!?

Must be all this decent weather although looks like rain from monday after a nice weekend.

  46. allezkev says:

Blimey no Lee and no Rocky…

Can they really be actually working? 😀

    Lucky i’m sitting down!

    Hakzah how are you.
    Is it sunny in Toulouse?

Adam, have got your new motor yet?

    And where is SYG?
Has he been kidnapped by Norwegians?!

Emma, come on with the Twitter/vids gal…

And what on earth has happened to Stan.
Is he really on a boat, on his way to Manila???

    The mind boggles…

    On yer toes Agag… 😛

  47. rico says:

Ha ha Wath, didn’t go anywhere near the naughty isles of waitrose, just some dill, coleslaw and mackerel….

Oh, and a low alcohol beer 😉 see, i didn’t miss your cheeky comment yesterday….

  48. W.A.T.H says:

When am I ever cheeky House Lady…?
Thats 2 packets of dark choccie digestives you owe me for next time now..!

  49. tomstoned says:

    Allezkev ;
i can assure you Sy(?)is not here …even though we’re considering to set sail soon..longships are ready to go..

ok some have to be a little down to earth…Sagna..well he’s just telling the truth…like so many other great players at Our club…its a shame really that we accept the lack of ambition at Our club, and are over the moon after one victory…there’s quite a big step from beating the useless pool to compete with barca…

but i have to be positive…and accept The New Arsenal way…sell Your two best players every year and replace them with…talent ?..im getting used to it..its not that hard…just give up ambition…think of all the money then its quite easy…:)after all its all business…winning and points arent important..

jenkinson is getiing better lets just hope his nerves doesnt get the best of him….but his not in the same class as sagna..could he be…maybe but there is a big if…yennaris..c’mon..he will never make it..

have a great Weekend all Akb*s and Gooners…sit back..relax..and enjoy the steady ride bringing much needed cash to Our American pimp…after all we’re living the American dream 🙂

  50. rico says:

Lidil do nice dark choc digestives Wath, maybe I could stretch to a couple of packs of those

Their double choc chips are nice too….

    Oh, and always!

  51. rico says:

    tomstoned

of course jenks is no Sagna, there is nearly a ten year age gap and in those ten years Jenks could be a better right back than Sagna, only time will tell

yennaris won’t make it? you obviously haven’t see the kid play…

  52. Joywedsjeff says:

Yennaris will never make it….c’mon? As for sagna, i think his days are numbered and he knows it too. Any less performance than jenks and he is out. He has been a loyal servant for AFC but before his second leg break his peformances were diminishing.

  53. tomstoned says:

rico :)hope your weekend has started well…..but thats my point..maybe we should let jenkinson prove himself before we decide if he can get to Sagna’s class…and if we do, we shouldnt get rid of our best defender imo…but of course when its all about money…one just have to sell when the price is right…

and be honest rico..yennaris..c’mon his a new lansbury at best..dont misunderstand me..both are good players in my book but they dont have that extra bit who would make them great..and i try to watch our younger players quite abit..Gnabry is exciting but its early days..still Gnabry seem to be class..

here’s a great link to follow our younger talent..if one cant go to the games rico

    Rico…;)
Allezkev thought maybe Sy(?)had been kindapped by the Norwegians..and he’s not…we have enough probs with immigration here as it is ;)…

  55. Lee says:

Tom, £2 a pint from 5.00pm until 7.00pm. I’ll be locking my carabinas onto the bar and my hands will be a blur!! 😉

  56. tomstoned says:

Lee sounds like a plan mate…have a superb Friday..

Little Johnny’s teacher says, “Class, today we are going to learn multi-syllable words. Does anybody have an example of a
    multi-syllable word?”

Little Johnny raises his hand, “Me, Miss Finch!”

Miss Finch turns towards the eager young lad, “All right, Little Johnny, what is your multi-syllable
    word?”

    Little Johnny says, “Mas-tur-bate”.

Miss Finch smiles and says, “Well, little Johnny, that sure is a mouthful!”.

Little Johnny says, “No, Miss Finch, you’re thinking of a blowjob”.

  57. tomstoned says:

Thx Rico always trying to be at my best..but you knew that right ?;)Norwegians you know..blonde..handsome..rich and always wrig..ehhh wrong ?..hehe

  58. Lee says:

No I’ve been busy at work…..for a change! Not all it’s cracked up to be that working!!!
    Have a good one Tom!!

  59. tomstoned says:

one for the road…and being good is just dandy ;..still we all shouldnt just accept things so easy…sometimes we should stop and have a think…:)

A priest was talking to a group of kids about “being good” and going to heaven. At the end of his talk, he asked, “Where do you want to go?”

    “Heaven! Heaven!” Yelled Little Lisa..

“And what do you have to be to get there?” asked the priest.

    “Dead!” Yelled Little Johnny.

  60. tomstoned says:

    Thx Lee…stay sober 😉

nothing would please me more Rico…Lansbury has the heart…thats for sure..and the link wasnt ment to be the truth…but its a great site to watch at least some of the younger talents games..me i think Burton is bloody perfect(whooopss pardon my poor English)…

    well off..

Rico Please have an enchanted Evening ;)see im not always bad…

have a great Weekend all Grovers and HH’s

  61. agirlagunner says:

Booooo!! I want Sagna to stay but if he wants to be off… These players’s demands are getting quite tiresome. Like most, I suspect this has to do with better contract terms than anything else. 🙂

There’s nothing like a poor performance to get talk going, rico. We’ve done well enough, so not much moaning, eh??

Hello, WATH and Lee and tomstoned. 🙂

  62. rico says:

    How annoying Lee…

Hi agag totally agree – if he thinks he is bigger than the club then hey ho, and he’s not getting any younger 😉

  63. agirlagunner says:

They do tend to think they are bigger than the club when negotiating, rico. It’s not as if (m)any of them go on to become greats in their succeeding clubs. Please. Even Cesc struggles for playing time now.

  64. agirlagunner says:

Lee, you channeling AK? He’s taken to speaking French these days, and saying pious and devout things. 😀 😀

  65. agirlagunner says:

And it truly is a waste of Cesc’s talent. Doesn’t matter what he says about fighting for his place; if he’s not playing, his form will fall. He really was a vanity purchase of Guardiola. Being groomed as a successor to Xavi blah de blah– why be an aide de camp when you can be a general??

  66. rico says:

I wouldn’t bet against him coming ‘home’ if things stay the same. And I bet he wouldn’t have gone there so soon if Pep hadn’t have been the manager…

  67. Adam says:

Kev. No new car yet. When I got ill I was hit my a terrible bout of sensibleness. It may not last though, especially if little bits of business pan out nicely. At the moment I am in a holding pattern which is where Mrs Adam hopes I remain. She thinks new cars are daft.

  68. agirlagunner says:

Have you been ill, Adam? 😕 I suspect it’s a serious case of CBD. I am told I have that. 😆 I hope you’re better.

  69. rico says:

At least something good came out of you being poorly Adam, but glad to know you are feeling better…

Back to the new car then 😉

  70. agirlagunner says:

That is a very interesting article, vernat. Bankruptlona is the media darling and nobody really writes about the rampant diving, their poor finances, silly purchases. For crying out loud, this “big” club sought a loan to pay player’s wages and bonuses in 2010.

AK, I had to google what a cherry bakewell was. 😀 I am well. And you? I hope you’re busy. 🙂

  71. Adam says:

Hi Agag. What is CBD? Yes, I have been quite off the reservation for about 8-9 days. Feeling a bit better now though.

  72. agirlagunner says:

Adam, the operative word in your 5:07 is “yet”. 😀 You’ll be buying it soon enough, I think. 😛

  73. Adam says:

Because you girls have shamed me into realising that material possessions are immaterial within the wider scheme of things 🙂

  74. stevepalmer1 says:

Evening all, Young Ak knocked out another fine post i see, well done son 🙂 I dont always believe Journo’s and Bacary may have spoken to the paper or magazine but i would doubt that he would say such a thing when he’s been paid good money sitting on his arse i would certainly hope not anyway.

  75. rico says:

    Have you got one Adam??

Evening Steve – sadly, i suspect there is a bit of substance to the Sagna story, either from him or his agent…

  76. stevepalmer1 says:

Evening Rico, we all talk about loyalty and being proud to wear the shirt but near on 200 thousand a week can certainly make the shirt come off easy.

  77. Adam says:

No Rico. Unfortunately I bought a new Bosch mower a couple of months ago. The Hayter’s are out of my league and only for country girls really. Us despicable townies own the common or garden Bosch. Having said that it is a great improvement on my old Flymo which was so hard to move I used to have to wield it like a scimitar across the grass with what was left of the motor running and then it would only cut in huge clumps. I was ashamed of my lawn, deeply ashamed.

  79. Adam says:

SteveP. That is very kind of you and very much appreciated. Thank you.
No, my gardening skills are very much slash and burn I am afraid.

  80. Micko says:

Cruising for a brusing Adam, I’ve got a sit-down Hayter, it’s the mutts nuts.
Think GunnerPete must have been watching a different Bacary Sagna to me over the last couple of years.
Just in from the Ireland game, boy were they lucky, 2-1 win, Trappatoni’s days must be numbered.

  81. stevepalmer1 says:

Just looking at my lawn Adam not cut it for 3 weeks but my non Hayter is unwell and makes a lot of noise but it still cuts after a fashion

  82. Will says:

Evening Steve, you watching the England game?

I am admitting I was wrong wanting Wenger to get that brutal bastard as a DM. I know see what he was doing and I can see how we defend as a collective and I can’t wait till all midfielders are fit. What a group to choose from.

  83. Will says:

he started a little nervous Steve and I thought he first touch was a little off but he is now bossing that wing.

  84. devilgunner says:

Evening good friends and fine folk.

I had a great holiday. Tried to ski…..FAIL. But I did well in trekking and rowing. Cant seem to fathom out how they manage to ski. I spent more time on my arse than on the damned skis. My son fared much better.

  85. rico says:

    Glad to hear that devil…

Would love to stick around but I am kerr-putt so soon off to see my pillow….

Has Townsend got shares in the Ox or what, not used to Arsenal players getting praise

Thank you, I was starting to think it was just me that saw that Townsend hates us.

  87. Joaquim Moreira says:

I’m watching Nederlands -Turkey 1-0 at 60th minute (RVP scored)
    and Luxembourg 1 Portugal 1 (half-time)
where did you try skiiying devil?
    rowing ? 🙂

  88. Scott from Oz says:

    How goes it Steve?
It is certainly a slow period atm.
Oh well,i am off to work, but will jump in and out for the next few hours,so have a great evening all.

  89. devilgunner says:

I was in the Alps JM. On some of the mountains there was snow. We also tried it on grass which is slower than snow and good for beginners like me.

Rowing was quite easy. We went on three different lakes and one river and by the second time around I got the hang of it. Even my 8 year old son did well in rowing. My wife preferred to be rowed and enjoyed being taken around.

I am off now. I am still tired after the long haul from Munich.

See you all tomorrow fine folk.

  90. stevepalmer1 says:

Glad our boys are all ok, thats me done Night all and sleep tight and anybody like Scott in a diferent time zone don’t work to hard night all.

  91. Scott from Oz says:

The fact that Diaby played shows Wenger isn’t the only manager around with a massive opinion of Diaby.
Well, everyone seems to have one now,but after one great performance,it was still a big call for the French manager to choose him.
Let’s hope he kicks on and has a great Arsenal career.

  92. Scott from Oz says:

Just thinking out loud here…..Sagna has concerns about Arsenals transfer policy on top players.
Well,Bacary,as a TOP Arsenal, why don’t you buck the trend and sign a contract???
It’s all good and well to make out the club wants to sell, but to then suggest he may leave because though the club wants to sign him he might not therefore justifying his comments is just ludicrous…and confusing!!
Sign…..prove you believe in the club,or don’t sign, and prove once again it is all about money.
Either way, shut the hell up and do what you are paid for!!
