Sagna rejects new Arsenal offer & Dishing out the well deserved…

Morning all.

Surprised?

Absolutely Deserved.
Absolutely Deserved.

I am to be honest as it’s not too often anyone dishes out praise to Arsenal, let alone the manager and player for September award to two of our men. I’m quite surprised that Brenda Rogers and his striker Sturridge didn’t scoop both awards as the media/press can’t stop raving about how well they have done. Even more so since Suarez has returned.

What Arsene Wenger has achieved this month was far from expected from those same media/press people, in fact before the season kicked off, we were heavily tipped to finish outside the top four for the first time since the Frenchman arrived at Arsenal but now, well people are starting to see things quite different.

Well done to both I say and long may their and all of our players performances continue to shine. For Arsene Wenger, it’s the 13th time he has picked up this same award but if things carry on as they are, I’m sure he’ll soon increase that number.

Aaron Ramsey is clearly delighted to be voted the Premier League Player of the Season for the first time in his career, he tweeted:

Very happy to be named @premierleague Player of the Month for September. Hoping for an even better October!

Amen to that Aaron.

October started with a draw away at West Brom, a result which most of us believe wasn’t as bad as it sounds, I know I don’t.

This will be followed by a home league game against Norwich, a tasty home Champions League fixture against a very strong Borussia Dortmund side, an away trip to Crystal Palace and then another home game. This one in the Capital One Cup against Jose Mourinho and his Chelsea side.

All four of those fixtures will be tough, especially the three home ones but then I thought Napoli would cause us many more problems than they did so there’s no reason we should fear any of those oppositions. Respect yes, fear, no way!

And of course, we have ‘first team’ players returning after this current break.

So all is looking rosy in the Arsenal camp, let’s just get this break over without suffering further injuries.

Just in case you have missed the leak of what is to believed to be the new kit from Puma, here it is.

New Kit by Puma?
New Kit by Puma?

Linford Christie tweeted the above photograph but he soon removed it from his account.

Transfer gossip:

The Daily Mail reckon Arsene Wenger fears Bacary Sagna is running down his contract and will leave for free in the summer in order to get one last bumper deal. The Sun go as far as to suggest he has rejected the offer on a new one year deal with us. Can’t see that being true as surely any new deal offered would be for more than just one year.

Finally, if Arsene Wenger plans to go after Michu in January or next summer, he’ll have to part with £30 million. A fair price I’d say in today’s market…

That’s it for another day, have a good one….

    A very good post Rico…

I can’t for the life of me understand why Wales always play Ramsey the whole 90 minutes? Its not like they have a chance to qualify for Brazil… maybe he needs to start doing what Giggs did… 😉

Gibbs on international duty frightens me the most… anytime he has been called up he has gotten injured not long afterwards… at least we have Monreal and flamini as cover… lol

  2. rico says:

    Thanks Ts.

I actually don’t know why Ramsey is with Wales, he went off on Sunday, clearly injured and he should have remained in London.

I doubt Gibbs will play, Baines will get the nod if Cole misses out.

  3. Wavy says:

Another day of nothing……….good blog Rico, you have conjured up an article from a few scraps!
Of our future games let’s hope that complacency doesn’t raise its inertial head again and leave us with fewer points than we should get! All our forthcoming games are, on paper, comfortable wins for us, but………?
Also it would make a change if all our ‘internationals’ come back unscathed. That really would be a bonus!
Nb robin the thief is injured again! Manure getting what they paid for, a crock of physical crap. A one season wonder! He’s maybe looking to leave his little boys dream wendy house!! Couldn’t happen to a nicer nerk or a more deserving club than manure untied!!

    Morning all.

Cant say I agree with you about Sagna. He has obviously been tapped in 2012 and has never been the same player since. I think AW should sell him in January to whoever as he has Jenks and Belerin available. As for Michu…once again I differ. He is a very good player but not in the class of Rooney who would cost £30 mill and he is older. I think that Swansea would be chuffed with £20 and a fantastic profit on their £2 mill outlay.

  5. rico says:

Thanks Wavy, it will get more difficult over the next ten days I am sure 😉

If our players return and play like they did after the last break, then we should be fine. Add to them those coming back and suddenly we are a lot deeper and very much stronger.

  6. rico says:

Pete, don’t you think Sagna has been immense so far this season?

If he has told AW he plans to quit in the summer then yes, sell him in January, but all the stuff in the papers could be garbage, purely a means to stir things up in a happy camp..

We differ on our values, Rooney for me would cost £40+ million. I’d be happy to see either of those two in an Arsenal shirt.

Aren’ they both the same age, 27?

  7. tsgh says:

🙂 Wavy… you must love and miss Robin?lol

Rico, re Ramsey I blame Coleman… he is trying to save his career by running Ramsey into the ground… you got to love the way he lets Ashley williams of the hook when he has a minir injury, him being captain and all. 😉

Arsenal play a dangerous game with players in their last season… we try to save money by renewing only in January… 9/10 times it back fires but it worked with Theo so lets hope it works with Bac…

Bac Sagna’s wife is very good friends with Llori’s wife so hopeful she is not looking to move back to Paris quite yet… their lil boy is also in English school here…

  8. Wavy says:

The 4″ is to accomodate his brain. Shrek doesn’t need the extra 4″ as he has no brain!
Hence the expression ‘no brainer’ when associated with Vain and his impending move to the Arsenal?!

  9. tsgh says:

Wavy… Wooney has a lot of footballing brain though… he is just a sucker for kebab and the odd beer/ciggie.lol

  10. Scott from Ozil says:

    Morning all.
Rico, i am off to the Gold Coast for a few days 🙂
Sean is officially a junior Mariner.
It is not like being an Arsenal junior, but it is as good as it gets here.
They have never had anything under 9 year olds before, but apparently watching this group of youngsters giving their under 9’s and 10’s a run, they have taken liberties with their own rules.
The group of under 8’s are called the Marin8ers…….not bad, hey 🙂

  11. Scott from Ozil says:

Torres….get Torres….cheaper and at his best….which i believe he can regain….a better goal scorer than Rooney or Michu.

  12. rico says:

I disagree Ts, we should be telling Wales they can’t have Ramsey, going off on Sunday would have been enough. AW is perhaps a little too soft when it comes to international games..

  13. rico says:

🙂 Wavy, he has a great footballing brain and that’s all what matters…

Congratulations Scott on your Anniversary, have a wonderful time at the Gold Cost, sounds heavenly…

    Well done to Sean too..

Torres would do too, but if Jose wouldn’t allow Ba to move, selling us Torres would be a big no no..

  14. Scott from Ozil says:

Guys, i am a little the other way here.
Regardless of whether the game is of any importance, the chance to represent your company should never be taken for granted, and if fit, Aaron…any player for that matter…should be released and never pressured to miss a game.
    I stress….if fit.

  15. Scott from Ozil says:

Unless Torres has less time on his contract Rico….any idea on that??
    Thanks for the kind wishes……

  16. rico says:

That’s my point though, he’s not 100% fit imho, was it against Napoli he first got a knock and since then he has appeared to have a little niggle…

Otherwise, yes, I’d agree Scott, 100% fit, their country needs them 😉

I liked Jenks comments on playing for England, he said that Arsenal will always be his priority but it’s a great to be be called up for his country.

  17. Scott from Ozil says:

Torres is a no no then…bugger.
Would Ramsey be pushing to play?
I agree he is not 100% but it must be him wanting to play, i reckon.

  18. rico says:

I suspect so – players want to play for their country, hopefully he is sensible enough to listen to his body. He came back last time early and I don’t believe Ts is right when he suggests that Coleman is trying to save his career by playing him.

Only AW plays players when they have a slight injury 😉

  19. rico says:

    Looks like Kos is injured….

    From LA

French national team manager Didier Deschamps has called Kurt Zouma in to the side after Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny picked up a calf injury during training.
At this point it is not clear how serious the injury is or if it will keep the centre back out of their international games but if it is it will come as a blow to Arsenal who have come to depend on Koscielny at the back as part of the first choice centre back pairing with Per Mertesacker.

Zouma has been called in to the side to ‘guard against any eventuality’ so France are being cautious but with the international games not yet underway it is far from good news.

  20. arsenal11730 says:

Sagna is critical to our success. He deserves to be paid. I trust AW gives him a 3 year deal. His over 30 policy failed, Pires amongst many could of played at the higher level longer.
Bac is in great shape, when he plays well our team is in good sync.
Jenks is not quite ready yet for the deep end but good back up.
JW needs to keep his mouth shut and concentrate on the pitch, to controversial at present and not a guaranteed starter with our mid when Santi returns.

  21. rico says:

Afternoon – agree re Sagna a117, but what makes you say Jack should keep his mouth shut?

His view on England players being born in England?

  22. arsenal11730 says:

No Rico, i completely agree with his comments on the National team.
He is more interested in Twitter and celebrity than playing at present.Him and his agents look like a farce, after he came clean on AFC website about smoking incident.
AW was right to warn him about his reptutation and expected behavior as an AFC employee.
It is clear he is a phenom and great talent. He needs to concentrate on his game, hone his skills and win a starting position in squad.
He overdribbles, slows down our passing game, always falling over (granted he is a target) and has poor discipline, always arguing with ref and a target for an easy card.
I Love JW but much prefer Gibbs or Ramsey as they keep their head down and stay focused.
I sense AW supports JW but has turned slightly bearish recently, his comment about him never being a scorer was suprising, as well as publically scolding him.
He should be on the bench and earn his place.
Santi, Ozil, Flamini, OG12 and Ramsey are guaranteed starters when fit and on form.
JW, Arteta,TW,LP and Rosicky will battle for spots. Which is tasty for us Gooners. Competition breeds winning mentality.

    Cheers

  23. rico says:

Trouble is though a117, there is a new thing out where players have to accompany the manager during interviews and answer questions from the press. He was, I guess, the player chosen yesterday and the guy from the Times asked a question which he had to answer…

I agree players could stay off of the twitter/facebook a bit more though…

All players should earn their place, not just Jack surely… And hasn’t he been on the bench lately.

  24. arsenal11730 says:

Yes Rico he has been on the bench lately. I feel he is coming into fitness slowly and 90 mins is not the way to go too soon. Before he scored i was calling for AW to sub him, because he was ineffective being fouled often, and was starting to lose it discplined wise. Credit to him for the strike, ill take a deflection anyday.
I am so so excited about Santis return because then we will have 2 geniuses on the pitch and teams cannot double mark Ozil and SC to close down.

  25. rico says:

Many here wanted him off too on Sunday, not sure the ref helped matters with him, he was clattered quite a bit…

I too look forward to Santi returning, and Podolski, TW and Ox

  26. arsenal11730 says:

i know Remy had personal probs. Just wondering if we missed chance when we did not sign him in window as back up. Looks decent finisher in Henry Mould

  27. rico says:

Not sure his two goals at the weekend are enough to convince me…
Think AW would have signed him a while back had he thought Remy was the real deal…

  28. BrainwashedKev says:

    £30 for Michu… Nah, I ain’t sure about that one…
I think we can get more for £30 m than Michu…
    Just my opinion, you see…

  29. BrainwashedKev says:

    Yeah Potter.
You know I am totally sick of all the rubbish linking Alex Slng to a return to Arsenal…
Why would we want him back???
    Was he really that good?
And if he was, then why would Barcelona let him go???

    He made his choice.
    Let him rot in Catalonia….

  30. bradster says:

    Morning all,

Maybe we can get Nasri and Song too. All the one season wonders back.
I see Nick B says he was wrongly quoted, according to him he said “I want to be the best striker in the world”.

Regarding the born in England thing, your cricket team will really struggle without the foreign imports, the top order come from my country. Also do Auzzies count as ancestrial Englishmen?

I do however think Wilshere is a little too much in the news for his own good and I see how he didn’t want to get into anything with KP on twitter, that was mature of him.

I still think he needs the focus taken off him to develop and grow at his own pace and lose the saviour of England idea, especially if he struggles in these 2 internationals.

  31. potter says:

I can’t see why KP felt he had to get involved , he qualifies to play for “England ” through parentage . Maybe he felt the need to protect all of his South African mates that also have been adopted. Clear guidelines need to be set down on this to prevent international football being as diluted as the indigenous population is being at the moment.
