Would any Arsenal Fan want Wayne Rooney to play in the red and white of our fine club? Me, I say no. Many will say yes I am sure.
All through the summer we Arsenal fans got upset, angry and very annoyed with the Cesc Fabregas saga, many stood by him, many just wanted him sold to the highest bidder to get rid of our player who we all thought wanted out of the club we love and support through thick and thin.
But, all that was proved is that our Captain would like to one day return HOME, he didn’t come out and suggest our clubs lacks ambition, he never said he didn’t rate the players that surround him on the pitch, he never mentioned the board are tight in spending money to buy big names in the game…
No, all he wants is to one day return to the country of his birth and the club he has loved since he first kicked a football….
However, Wayne Rooney has come out with all the comments that Cesc never did and with it he has embarrassed and undermined the one man who has given him his career, his fortune and his lavish life, Old Red Nose!
But, what he has done is take up all the media attention, put Manchester United in the limelight for all the wrong reasons. I feel sorry for Sir Alex, he’s a great manager, one of the best man managers and he has been kicked in the teeth in my opinion, but they aren’t interested in us for a change
Imagine if this was one of our players at our club…..
Finally, one of the best every comments, made by one of the nicest managers in football, summed it all up so well and the name Anelka came to my mind as I listened….
Ian Holloway had this to say about Wayne Rooney…
I’ve got big problems with the people who are running football. I know the reasons I think the game is in trouble and you cannot have a Bosman ruling they’ve got at the moment.
Manchester United have helped Wayne Rooney’s career massively on and off the field. The manager, the club itself has invested in him. They bought him for massive amounts of money as a young man and they’re helping him blossom into the player that he is.
He’s one of the best centre-forwards in the world. And if he sees his contract out he’s going to be able to walk out of there for nothing. That’s the people at the very top of the game’s fault. Our rules were brilliant. If he was offered the same amount of money again, they could hold his registration and someone would have to pay the fair amount of money for him.
Just because you’re 24, what on earth has that got to do with it? It’s just ludicrous. They have the power to change this straight away. What if he sits there for 18 months, throws tantrums, doesn’t try, doesn’t play, and someone’s already said to him, ‘We’ll take you and we’ll pay you some of that money we should have paid Manchester United because you can walk out on a free’?
Do you want to sign a person like that? Do you want to play for a club that says that to you? How do we know it hasn’t already happened? The game is wrong. The people in charge of the game are wrong. They are so wrong this is frightening.
If Alex Ferguson is being bullied by a player and his agent, how wrong is the game? When are you Fifa and Uefa going to listen to the people who are involved in the game? They say it’s not fair on the player. Rubbish. The player has had his wages every week. They bought him, they worked with him, he belongs to them. It’s so obvious. The world should change if it’s wrong and football should look at itself.
I’m looking at Alex Ferguson and thinking: ‘What a magnificent manager. How can he handle this? How he feels about Manchester United, how proud he is. Yet Wayne Rooney or his agent can now manufacture a situation like this.?
The difference? Cesc is a Gentleman, a player who Arsene Wenger honestly believes will be staying with us for a few seasons yet and a player who isn’t anywhere near so desperate to leave a club he knows he loves……
Better late than never guys and gals 🙂
Ah good evening Lady of the House, what manager made those comments on Rooney, very sombre thoughts indeed but so very very true…!
Hello sammy, long time no see here on HH…
It was Ian Holloway, thank you for pointing out my error, in my hurry to make up for ammends i forgot to add his name, have updated now…
The difference is Rooney is a cunt and Cesc is class(Like Arsenal)
ian holloway
too slow lol
I m becoming a big fan of Holloway. He speaks right most of the time, hope Blackpool stay up and Black”ick”burn and Stoke Rugby FC get relegated
The difference is Rooney is a c**t and Cesc is class(Like Arsenal)
Very well Written l agree with everything you said .
Cesc is Glass and Rooney is just a greedy pig and does not care who he hurts, love this Blog!!!!!!!!!
.
Hi guys, Ian Holloway is a breath of fresh air, love him…
nice post rico…for my part, i’ve no sympathy, empathy or anything similar for red nose. this is part and parcel of his prolonged run of success. hopefully, his bill for that is finally coming due, and i hope this is just the start.
I hope to see ManU’s era come to an end.My boss is an ManU fan and when I spoke to him yesterday,he said that ManU won’t suffer because last year when they lost Ronaldo they did not suffer and finished in second spot
hi oliver, thank you… i am no fan of fergie but i recall when anelka forced his move, we lost out on what could have been the best strike force for years with him and henry…
don’t like the manager, but what is going on with rooney is very wrong, holloway is spot on about player power and the suga daddies are to blame… manure just picked the wrong suga daddy 😉
btw, i respectfully disagree with arsene’s contentention at today’s agm that cesc may stay with us for “years”. i think arsene will do well to keep him past this summer, but that is probably long enough for both parties. as i see it, in the next two years with either win silverware with cesc as our talisman, or change tack with another (wilshere?) key central figure. that should suit cesc too, provided he does not set his heart on a move this coming summer.
i think how the season pans out will have a lot to do with it. if we come close, perhaps win the league or fa cup, cesc may want to try and see if this team, which won it’s first cup, can now take the next step to the league/european cup. if it collapses amidst injuries and defensive deficiencies, i would argue that something will have to change. that it not necessarily “blowing it up”, but perhaps changing playing personnel (with cesc a candidate to move) and/or specific playing style.
a bunch of “what if’s” there – but i will be very suprised to see cesc still at our club past the 2012 season.
mmmm…i am not so sure that henry and anelka would have worked. and if i remember how the events unfolded, we were in serious discussions about selling anelka to lazio – and we eventually sold him to real after juventus agreed to sell us henry (who had not settled with them after moving from as monaco). if we had kept anelka, i am not convinced we would have gone in for henry. we almost certainly would never have gotten davor suker if we did not sell anelka to real.
Hello Lady of the House, yes been a while work has been a problem but alas I think I have solved that scenario so can come and discuss all things Arsenal again, working late so am able to chat tonight as well, very good post and yes I too like Mr Holloway a very sensible man.
Also think man usa will survive Rooneys loss but will they survive the glazers…?
Rooney has had an attitude problem right from the off. The English press bleated that nothing should be done about it because it supposedly gave him his “edge” on the pitch. Now, they can’t wait to rip into him for his “poor attitude”.
Hang on! Rico’s a girl?
oliver, i think wenger speaks from his heart about Cesc, he talks about footballing reasons and hope, the same as we all do – i don’t believe in this situation he would just talk ‘pie in the sky’, i’m hoping cesc has given him a reason to speak the way he has done…
oliver, both henry and anelka have said they wished they could have played alongside eachother for us – why could that have not worked? two of the quickest, most talented strikers at their time for france, i would have just loved to see them both play for us at the same time…
you may well be right, but i would be very surprised if cesc has done anything other than keep his own counsel on what his preference is once the season ends.
arsene is a great interview – articulate, honest, and often sarcastic/funny. sometimes he is too great an interview – this seems to me something that did not even need a comment, that could have been left well enough alone.
i see them as a bit too similar. they may have wanted to play together – for jacquet/lemerre, as well as arsene, but that does not necessarily mean arsene would have paired them together. perhaps it would have worked out – i am just skeptical.
sammy, that’s good to hear…
interesting comment about will the american owners surviving without rooney – i guess that will depend on the fans, some say he is betraying the club, some don’t – i think the way fergie deals with it will be the tell tale sign…
fergie is shining at the moment in all this saga… and i’m loving it happen to the mancs for a change …
Hi The Law, yea i am a girl, well, an old woman really 😉
Rooney is just the tip of the English iceburg, just wait to see how they react when Stevie me me me wants out of the dippers….
Anelka and Henry both in an Arsenal shirt, can you imagine that with The Man himself DB10 pulling the strings…..! Invincible and untouchable both at thier height, Oh dear what a sight that would of been.
sammy, i’m with you on that one, especially with DB tucked in behind them….. thats what dreams are made of…
On that note I wish you a fond farewell goodnight one and all it’s hometime catch you all again soon I am off to dreams of DB10 caressing the ball through to Henry and Anelka !!
Rooney is going to juve…he can’t resist the old lady.
Nite sammy, don’t leave it so long next time ….
😆 😆 KTR7, that is the funniest comment you have ever left …..
Superb KTR7………….. I’ll have a smile all the way home after that comment. Good evening all..!
i see adebayor just scored for city against lech ponzan (uefa cup)…think he is trying harder than normal because he wants to be in the squad on sunday?
let s just keep it simple…don;t jinx it, or Cesc nay end up leaving and rooney stayn..
Oliver you know ade will want to score on Sunday.rico that joke was a welcome back note…
he’s got no chance oliver, not after last year and the fact he’s on his way…..
don’t really get your point dkd?? that may very well happen one day but…. keep what simple??
all we are discussing are things that heave happened…
Bless ya KT, so you saying i’m an old lady 😉 😉
but if the prospect of scoring against arsenal is the only thing – other than money, that is – which seems to movtivate him, would mancini not at least be willing to name him as a sub on sunday? i agree that he was completely and utterly out of control in the eastlands clash, but might mancini not at least want to have him available as an option – particularly if city are trailing after sixty or so minutes on sunday?
and as i typed the last, he just scored his second…
i imagine that mancini will play it tight, and start with tevez up front. but i won’t be surprised if we see adebayor at some point during sunday. under ordinary circumstances, i wouldn’t worry too much about him, but as we just do not keep clean sheets…as much i enjoyed eduardo’s return, i would really hate to see adebayor scoring against us again. even if we should be leading 5-0 at eastlands – i. don’t. want. him. to. score. against. us. period.
as legend as paddy is, i don’t want to see him score either. especially as he didn’t score all that many for arsenal.
Rico you’re not an old lady, otherwise rooney would be on your front door welcoming you home.
Oliver we can’t buy a cleansheet at the moment so i think we may concede but not to ade/vieira!if we score first we’ll win this one.mancini will play 3 dms and tevez alone upfront.if we score first they will have to attack then we bring on theo to counter.Bellamy has consistently destroyed us in the past two seasons so its a relief they let him leave.
k, agreed. i am glad we won’t have to face bellamy – he tormented us since back when he was at newcastle. tevez and a. johnson are the two players i am really concerned about. we seem to be able to take our chances better in the cl than prem – the opposition we have faced in europe this year probably has something to do with it.
KT 😉
As i posted yesterday oliver 50% of our shots on target (14/28) have been goals in the CL.we have also converted 38% of our chances in cl games.johnson may torment clichy but its good to have Sagna back.the boss has also said verminator is 3 weeks away this evening to our official website despite telling the s/holders he didn’t know when TV would make his comeback.
yeah, i saw the 2-3 weeks away. it will be good to get him back, although i think a run of games looks like it may do djorou no end of good – as long as he avoids injury, that is.
oh, to have our first choice eleven fit and available.
oliver – i don’t really care if Lardy plays to be honest, this will be our game of the season. finally we have Cesc, Theo, rosicky, Nasri, Nik, Chamakh, AA all fit – Kos should be back so he and Squilli should be fine. Fabianski finally looks more settled and Sagna is also back…
Song v’s paddy/Yaya will be interesting and i reckon this will be the day we see our old Song back….
i am guessing diaby will start with jack suspended. i would like to see arshavin on the bench again, and bendtner come on in the second half. as long as theo is fully ready, this is a game he should probably start.
rico, i hope so – we need song to concentrate on his defensive duties. let others overlap and attack – if he gets too far forward, their midfield – esp. y. toure – will overrun ours.
Cesc, Song, Nasri, Rosicky, that would be my midfield, no to diaby or denilson, play Theo and Chamakh up front and the back five speaks for itself 🙂
i imagine that arsene has been encouraging him to join the attack, perhaps to win the ball back in more advanced positions – but i think we sacrifice too much in midfield protection if he does that. our solitary league clean sheet (blackpool) tells its own story – i think our side’s mentality is defensively irresponsible.
i would prefer your lineup as well, rico – but i think arsene will select diaby, in either nasri or rosicky spot. cesc and song are givens to start. tough to drop nasri after he has done so well in recent matches. theo in for arshavin, who needs i would consider not even naming to the bench.
we’ll see. just pick the eleven best suited to getting a win at eastlands, and we shall see how it goes.
Oliver AW is trying to recreate total football played by Ajax whereby in defensive phase the pitch is made as small as possible.Song pressing higher up gives us the opportunity to win the ball back earlier but if he gets bypassed we’re exposed.AW is also trying to make us more dynamic in that if Song wins the ball he can launch an attack without necessarily looking for cesc/jack.this ‘no dm’ system requires our midfield 3 to be very disciplined and to have excellent positional sense when covering the attacking forays of one of your fellow midfielders.
Rico diaby and AA will start since they have had enough rest.everytime cesc, diaby and song play together we are very solid in midfield.we’ll need diaby’s direct dribbling to break down their defensive structure since passing may fail.we need to have a straight go at them, rattle them early.if we play quick and incisive passes they’ll chase shadows for 90+ minutes.
oliver, that is our fine boss’s one downfall eh, all attack and just sometimes to forget to defend…
KT, you may well be right, but i would prefer both to be on the bench – if we need a goal, bring them both on and play diaby as a second striker like wenger says he is….
Rico i believe the term for diaby is ‘false ten’.rosicky, nasri and cesc together guarantees a quick tempo that will dismantle city’s defensive organisation but i think it being an away game Aw will play it safe.
Ade has just scored a hattrick for city…
KT, false hope more like 😉
seriously, i see Diaby starting to, he has the height and pace we need, but, he needs to play out of his skin to live up to what this game needs….
Guys, i’m offski now, long day and I need to go get some nighty nights…
catch up with you all tommorrow,
stay safe and nighty night…..
Night all.
you left out one important thing. cesc is a world cup winner and shrek is a world cup flop with zero credibility. he has no sell on value.
if man u want money for him they should keep him for a while and clean damaged reputation. unless real madrid want to win condom and ciggie market then rooney is their man. right now they will be lucky to get 10 mil out of him.
Yes Rooney is a c*nt but so does Alex, it is too soon to say that this predicament is all on Rooney fault, we still do not know yet what truly happened behind the scene between Alex and him, neither of them not being honest in the interview and covering things up.
Morning all, anyone around this morning?
New Post up
