Morning all.
The Emirates, Highbury and Marble Arch were lit up last night with a big message to Stan Kroenke and the Arsenal board. They might be able to turn their backs on three lonely protesters at London Colney a few weeks ago, or as in Arsene Wenger’s case, make a snide comment about having time to waste, but none of them will be able to avoid the message sent out yesterday evening.
As darkness arrived, ‘Wenger Out’ shone bright.
There are many other photo’s on Twitter this morning and it’s clear the protests are stepping up a gear. Good as all the time there’s no new contract announcement, there’s hope that Stan Kroenke and the board will do the right thing. Arsene Wenger has to leave this summer and hand the reigns over to someone younger, more dynamic and someone far more ambitious. Sadly, it doesn’t seem as if that man will be Max Allegri as reports suggest he’s signed a new contract with Juventus although I haven’t been able to find anything official about that.
Robert Pires has fallen into the ‘Wenger trap’ it seems as he is right behind his fellow Frenchman and says he should stay and rebuild our great club. He’s even dropped in a huge transfer story, no doubt in attempt to convince ST holders to renew again this summer but what he forgets is we’ve all been here before. Transfer rumours made up and leaked to the press but seldom do they bare fruit. Even when Arsene Wenger does sign players, he’s never been able to get them to all click together as a team and truly challenge on the big stage. Don’t get me wrong, I love the FA Cup and glad we’re in another final but we haven’t won it. Yet.
Back to the transfer story, well that’s about Kylian Mbappe and Pires has been quoted by Bwin as saying:
I do think Arsenal will sign him. The problem is how much. Mbappe has the potential to play for Arsenal and Wenger is the right manager to manage him. Monaco and Arsenal are very similar in clubs, so it won’t be much of a transition.
It might not be much of a transition but unless the club are going to fork out a vast amount of money for Mbappe, then there’s absolutely no way he’ll be heading to Arsenal in the summer. Remember the answer Wenger gave when someone asked him what he’d do if he was given a £100 million pounds to spend? Well there you have it because it would need somewhere quite close to that amount to secure the signing of the 18 year old although I strongly suspect that’s Monaco valuing him so high in order to keep him. Regardless, if Pires really has made such a claim, he’s either bonkers, or… well, bonkers.
Bobby has also said we have struggled because we’ve missed Santi Cazorla which to be fair, is hard to disagree with but didn’t Arsene Wenger tell us he’d got many alternative midfield options which is right, he has but none have been able to do what the little Spaniard can do. Bearing in mind we missed him through injury for a large chunk of the season last year, one would have thought that as a player ages you treat him with kid gloves but no, not Arsene. Also, knowing he’s likely to be fragile, one would have thought a similar style of player would have been signed last summer but no, that didn’t materialise either. Mind you, he did try and sign Kante, albeit he didn’t try hard enough. Where was his backup plan though?
Which brings us to this summer, a summer in which I don’t expect Arsene Wenger to change his transfer policy if he stays of course but with the protests getting louder and more clear to see, hopefully he’ll finally get the message.
Make sure we don’t lose tomorrow, secure Champions League football, win the FA Cup and then leave.
Before it all gets really ugly….
I fear tomorrow will be very ugly – on and off the pitch. Feelings are raw and the stakes are very high. As for AW – I fear that he is going to stay. And Mbappe? Booby Pires must be on a special Moroccan
weed diet! 😉
I reckon you’ll be right Db on both Wenger staying and tomorrow. If we go a goal down early, well, anything could happen and that’s just in the ground…
Yes, let’s hope that the ‘appropriate’ authorities have done their homework.
I suspect they have…
Summed up perfectly.will do bugger all this summer as per usual.mbappe-bobbys Avin a larf! The minute there’s the remotest comp.for his signature & there will be.he’ll bottle it.expect the usual £200 million war chest crap to be arriving any day now(season ticket renewal) on the horizon.wenger has his 1996 valuations & wage structure & likes to prove how frugal & “clever” he is with his 2nd/3rd tier buys.wev’e seen it all before.the difference this time is the pressure is getting more & more cranked up & does he have the stomach for a fight.doubtful giving the team are a mirror image of himself.on a side note.visited “positively Arsenal”the other day.& I thought wengers disciples over at “untold” were nuts.this lot are psychotic.i despair if this is our fanbase.explains the task of removing the “dictator” is still a difficult one.
Diego Costa will go to China to join all his South American mates.
Chelsea will get a massive fee.
And Mbappe will replace Costa at the Bridge.
Job done!
What Pires said is irrelevant…
The Wenger Out light show was quite imaginative.
Kroenke can’t ignore it as it’s certain to be reported in America.
The numbers are dropping though Uwot although they’ll always be some who are frightened of change and those who can see no wrong…
Morning All
Morning Rico.
Yes, I’ve read Positively and Untold from time to time and have scratched my head.
In a way you have to hand to them for not being influenced by the press and other blogs.
But at the same time you have to wonder what they think they are watching and if they ever notice how Football has changed?
I suppose it depends on what kind of football club you want Arsenal to be?
And if you are happy to never see another league title at Arsenal?
Morning Rico and the House
Kev I am still around mate.
Just a short visit untill later.
Big day for the U18 away to Blackburn and a Hattick by Reise Nelsn in the first 19 mjns hasgiven us a 3-0 lead .
More to come I hope
Hattrick by Nelson in 19 mins .
Morning Kev.
You’re probably right re Costa and Mbappe…
Morning Rick.
I thought the same Kev. Kroenke won’t be able to escape those bright lights, neither will the board and most importantly, Wenger. Why would he want to stay on after seeing that…
Morning all
Everything points to a Spurs win, they are a very good team and although we have won our last three games we haven’t been convincing or consistent for 4 months or more or some would say all season, so being Arsenal we will most probably win 😉
.
Word on the street from my younger friends is that it is all going to kick off down Tottenham High Road.
I hope the protests do something if nothing more make the inept Board actually realise if they don’t know already that unrest is growing at an alarming rate.Maybe us older fans don’t protest (I don’t know) just won’t go anymore or renew their season tickets, and these are people who have followed the club for 50 or 60 + years.Yes there is a waiting list but that by all accounts is reducing.IMO of course we are unique in so many ways with a manager having been there for 21 years.People under 30 have only ever known the Wenger years, and initially had a great first ten years under AW and with the change of Board and as long as the money comes in I can’t see Kroenke doing anything short term. Maybe someone who goes regularly, can tell me are our fans more pacife than at all other clubs. Why is our ground often referred to as The Library ? and does that mean many are scared to really show their frustration..
Seeing that up in lights was insulting.
It should be saying ‘Kroenke Out’, because all the while he is in charge, no manager will do any better at Arsenal IMO.
Kroenke is the cancer that is slowly killing the club, Wenger is just a symptom.
When it all goes tits up next season with a new manager, should we sack him too? And the next one etc etc.
It’s the owner and board who need to be lynched, those who are hidden away enjoying the fruits of the club.
At least Wenger is out there to be shot at. Love him or loathe him, he never hides away like the owners, and he is emotionally attached to the club.
They aren’t and never will be.
Hello Rico
The timing of this banners are simply not correct.
There is no question it is a shittest season we are enduring but to come with this crap before the derby game is simply siding with the enemy.
I want to win every game against the spuds and this does not help.
A win tomorrow and Wengerin banners will be all over.
Jesus….the guys who did this have no any Atsenal thing in them……they are just obsessed with Le Prof.
Hi Meerkat,
I agree wholeheartedly with your ‘Kroenke Out’ sentiment, but don’t understand your passionate defence of Wenger.
He is not an Arsenal fan and will never love the club the same way die-hard supporters do. Perhaps it’s because he’s taken over £100 million out of Arsenal that his loyalty stems from.
His judgement in the transfer market has been shocking, and over the last 10 years his presence at the club has done far more damage than good.
Arsenal are trapped by their frugality and refusal to go toe-to-toe with their competitors, and whilst it’s laudible to live within your budget, football is different to any other walk of life. Football is about excitement and glory, and under Wenger’s stewardship it has disappeared.
When the excitement goes people stop tuning in and the club start losing big money, so all that penny-pinching was futile, and just serves to show how far we’ve fallen and further away than ever from the top. As an example, Manchester United currently make £150 million a year more than Arsenal in their commercial deals, and with Wenger taking Arsenal in a downward spiral, that figure will soon be much higher. The gap between Arsenal and the elite clubs is a huge yawning chasm that grows ever wider because Wenger doesn’t have the football intelligence to make the difference. We were closer to the elite clubs when we were at Highbury.
Wenger has refused to compete, and for that he is weak and cowardly.
Kroenke may be tight with the purse-strings, but ultimately Wenger’s philosophy is killing Arsenal as a major force. There are plenty of examples of clubs worldwide winning major trophies without relying on money.
There is truth in that but also truth that the direct opposite is true of both Positively and Untold. Like Kev I occasionally read them both but one thing I have noticed is that they discuss at length referees, the AAA and the media but one thing they never talk about is football. I seriously wonder if they are so infatuated with the manager that they don’t actually follow what they are watching. If you comment on anything relative to a game you are bombarded with stats and tables proving their moral and intellectual superiority and proving that your eyes are obviously deceiving you . But that’s the problem Wenger and Stan can sit and read their drivel and believe that protesters are in the minority . They might be in for a surprise come June 1st when the money is due to roll in.
But protesters ‘are’ in the minority.
We may want changes in the management team, but are we all protesters? No. We sit back and hope for change.
Personally, I could no more join in with that loudmouthed lot, effing and blinding in public and being disrespectful, than I could fly to the moon.
Mainly because it’s stan the man et al, whom I want gone, even more than I want le prof sacked.
I realise I may be in the minority on this forum, but hey ho, c’est la vie.
It wouldn’t do for us all to agree on everything, or there would be no discussion.
Afternoon all.
Manager out first and if Kroenke/the board don’t back him in the transfer windows, let them be the next target of protests…
Afternoon all and thank`s Rico !…………………I like it !……….the Kroenke or Wenger debate again !
If I was standing on the edge of a cliff with Kroenke and Wenger in front of me who would I push first ?…………………………………… I wouldn`t push Kroenke first !…no !……I`d nut him, then kick him in the Jacobs and chuck him off !……………………………Wenger ?……………I`d shake his hand and thank him for all he`s done good for Arsenal then push him off and deep down hope he has a soft landing on top of Stan`s Syrup !
Afternoon Rico and All
Stanley knows whats going on..Little Josh has told him.
Little Josh is getting up Arsene’s Hooter,
he keeps quoting what Terry H thinks.
Henry reckons only Sanchez would get in the Spuds team.
Arsene reckons thats Bollox…All great stuff…
Bobby’s little lad is on the books at The Arsenal..Nuff Said.
As regards the protests I don’t know anybody thats wants
Arsene to stay.
I too would push Wenger first Lc… lol
Afternoon Fred, I still hope Josh persuades his old man to do the right thing..
Hello Herb. Just seen your response to my first post, and want to clarify that I do want the Manager to leave, but more than that I want Stan to sell up and let us get someone actually interested in football, running the club.
Wenger should never have been allowed to become so autocratic, but you can’t blame him for that. We’d all want that chance, and to earn his money, but it should never have come to that.
Abramovich at Chelsea, at least loves football and takes an interest in the clubs results, not just in money. He would never have countenanced what has happened, been allowed to happen, at Arsenal.
Stan would never invest in the team or in a half decent manager all the while he sees Arsenal being a good Capital gain. He just wants gain not results. You can’t say that is all Wenger wants.
The fact is he is past it now and needs to stand aside, and a good owner would ensure that happened, but Stan won’t.
So, I’m not a WKB, but I can’t see that getting rid of him will change the ethos of the club, all the while Krenke and the current board are in charge.
Agree fully M`kat …….we are reading from the same book and possibly on the same page !
😀
Until the club changes its manager, I’m not entirely convinced that Kroenke can truly be judged. Yes he’s an idiot for offering Wenger a new contract (if he has) but imo, it’s Wenger who chooses not to invest in the squad properly….
As a businessman I suppose Kroenke must balance the probabilities. A new manager might do better than Wenger, but he might not. He may just feel that Wenger has some life in him yet and he won’t make the decision until he has to. For whatever reason that may be. When we don’t like someone we can attribute all sorts of negativity to them, justified or not.
Neither Pep nor Mourinho is exactly ripping up the PL despite spending a lot of money and I am sure that they will spend much, much more. At least you can see what Pep is trying to do whereas Mourinho seems stuck in an interminable circle of boring the shit out of his own fans while talking nonsense and being rather unpleasant.
Its money that runs a club…
Without that your Fu*ked
Its a manager that runs the team
Without a good one you win Fu*k all.
Hi Fred. Very true.
Simple really…
Know nothing Yank or a Russian Gangster..em
Mourinho and Wenger have so much in common then Adam.
Spot on Fred.
The gangster for me…
Anyone read the latest Arsene opinion on betting.
He reckons its Immoral..Dispite a lot of the clubs
running around with sponsers names on most clubs shirts.
We have Betfair/Paddy Power,SportPesa plus Tempobet
all in different part of the world.
The bit I liked was was when Arsene was managing
Monaco and the match fixing scandel came out.
It was Boro Primorac who grassed up Marseille
and then became Arsene’s trusted best mate.
I wonder if we will see big changes anytime soon.
Evening All.
Following a very good 5-1 win at Blackburn our U18’s are in a position of doing something that is above the first team that is win silverware..
With 3 games to play they are in 2nd place 2 points behind Chelsea and 2 points in front of Man U with a game in hand to both of them.
Their next game is next Wed the 3rd away to Utd should they win that they will go top and it will then be a straight fight with chelsea who they are away to on the 9th May.
In todays match Nelson scored 3 and Malan the other 2. and following his injury Nketiah was only on the bench.
It is my opinion that with Nelson Nketiah and Malan playing up front together tthey are a handfull for any team in the U18 league.
Hi Rick. I have heard a lot about Malan. Do you think he could go all the way to the first team in time?
Thanks Meerkat.
If the value of Arsenal’s share price plummets, Stan might seriously consider selling up, but it’s a double-edged coin, because it will mean us fans suffering watching the club drop further.
We definitely need rescuing from Kroenke’s clutches though, I can see no good for our club as long as he’s in control.
But I feel equally drained and tired of Wenger, and for me every day he remains manager is a day too long.
Anyway, let’s pray we beat the ‘Tiny Tott’s’ tomorrow.
Hi Adam
From what I have seen Of Nelson Nketiah and Malan I would say all three could make it to the first team if they are coached in the right way.
I would like whoever is in charge next season to play all 3 in the U23 and the tinpot cup and let them train together with the first team, I think they are that good.
Cheers Rick.
The other day Iwobi was saying Nelson does train with the 1st team often !
But it’s not just a ‘know nothing yank’ Fred, is it? It’s a ‘couldn’t care less’ yank.
Gimme a Russian gangster, interested in the football team any day given the choice.
Meerkat
Billionairs couldn’t give a toss mate.
What you or I think
True fred. However, rather we were a billionaire’s hobby/plaything, than just their ‘cash cow’.
Since when have any Yanks, really shown genuine interest in ‘soccer’? Nah, never.
The Manure lot are allowing more to be spent on the manager(s) and players, but only because of their precious worldwide sponsorship being dependant upon a successful team.
Syruppy Stan isn’t bothered about anything, so long as his Capital increases in value, long term.
Only if that were to drop, would he even notice any results.
He cares not a toss for fans of Arsenal. Just it’s value on the market.
Hi Rick, yes I saw that result on another blog, and I agree Nketiah, Nelson and Malen are potentially 1st team quality, Gilmour could in there as well and Mavididi if he fully recovers. Bramhall is an outside bet, especially as a wing-back.
Good comment Adam, it’s all very tediously soul destroying mate but the club doesn’t care, selling match day tickets, to anyone, is all they care about.
Fans are an irrelevance to the Board and an irritant to Wenger.
He despises the fans, he really does, he talks total shit about us being important, but in truth he couldn’t give a toss about us.
Good comments Herb, Potter and Fred.
Meerkat I completely concur with your view of American investors in English football. They bring nothing to the table and always look to skim off of the top.
Potter, there’s always potential for a riot in Tottenham High Road, it’s their raison detre (excuse the spelling).
Night All
Morning All…
I can’t recall the last time, if at all, when it was so quiet on here prior to a NLD…
Morning Kev and all..
It’s the smell of fear… 😉
I think it’s more to do with a lack of interest Rico… ?
I see that Lucas Perez was back in full training yesterday, we could have done with him recently.
There is that as well Kev… 🙂
Good re Perez, not that Wenger will play him..
Morning Rico and Kev…
Morning all
We will win with a spetacular long shot ala Rosicky.
Morning Bt. Good result last night…
Xhaka then Alex…
New post up now.
