Reason for Wilshere's delayed return & Arteta unhappy……

Having heard the reports that the results of the scan Jack Wilshere had on his ankle about a week ago show he still has a stress fracture and is set to miss the rest of the season, I just can’t understand why, with that big fat £50m sitting in the bank, one of our best players is being treated on the NHS.

Why?

I mean he must be to have to wait so long for scan results and appointments surely?

Some sceptical friends of mine have suggested that the news was kept from us until the transfer window closed to avoid the inevitable clamour for a replacement to be signed. So cynical yet so likely.

Yet, as much as we undoubtedly miss Jack I think our midfield have done quite well.

I also think that with actual fullbacks available some of our disastrous results would have been quite different. Let’s face it you’d rather have Sagna at right back than Djourou and thankfully, he is now back!

Koscielny has done a great job when he’s played there but I’d still prefer a proper right back because they not only defend but they lend considerable support going forward putting the opposition on the back foot whilst adding numbers to the attack.

We’ve missed that badly.

Now as I’ve said, Kos has been ok when he’s played right back and we know we have two good right backs when they’re fit but I’m very much of the opinion that the club is completely bereft of a left back and is worrying.

Gibbs has consistently proved himself to be physically unreliable and Santos is more like a left midfielder to my eyes.

In the summer there were two signings I repeatedly said to anyone who would listen would be great for us.

We apparently have a lot of money in the bank and I’m convinced we could have still signed the same two players in January. Cahill and Baines in my opinion would give us the balance and stability we need at the back with attacking impetus when appropriate.

In the summer we had a £10m bid for Cahill rebuffed only for him to go to the chavs for £7m. Why didn’t we go back for him at the cheaper price?

Baines plays for a club that is skint. They let us have one of their best players in the summer and I am convinced that a fair offer and not Wenger’s usual five shillings, sixpence and some magic beans, would have been reluctantly accepted.

Would any Gooner not be happy with a back five of Chesney, Baines, Vermaelen, Cahill, Sagna?

I certainly would be.

Those signings were possible and we have the money.

So what the hell is the problem?

What the heck is going on, does anyone have the answer?

Mikel Arteta says we are just not good enough:

It’s not good enough. We have the players and the quality to have a better result than what we have got against Bolton. We really need to start picking up points now. We’ve lost too many in the last two weeks.

We should have won at Bolton. We had a lot of chances to win the game comfortably in the first half, but, once again, we’ve not been good enough to take them. And if you don’t take your chances it’s always going to be difficult.

He’s right and we all know we desperately needed another goalscorer to relieve the burden on RVP but that’s a whole post on its own.

    Morning all…

Good post Bendtnersgone and thank you, hope it’s the first of many here on HH…

I din’t know that about Jack but I strongly suspect he gets proirity treament on the NHS…..

What still narks me is having missed out on Cahill, we didn’t bother going for Samba, he is desperate to leave BB and a sensible offer would have got him, and then JV – he would have solved the defensive problem in one….

Welcome to the home of blogs Bendtnersgone. I have never seen you here and hope you post some good articles. Rico would be happy.

Good morning guys and chicks of the Gunners’ Faith.

Good article……..and although I am not a friend of yours I think I was the first one to suggest that with the unnering skill of a poacher and the strike of a deadly marksmen the timing of Jack’s injury announcement came bang in time when the transfer window shut down. Now I agree that we have a fair amount of central midfielders, however the reliables are Song, Ramsey, Arteta, Frimpong (on loan) and Coquelin. The rest are not so reliable…Jack is injured, Diaby must have got a sore back and ass considering that he has been on the table for so long, Rosicky and Benayoun are not so young and strong.

So why not buy a good central midfielder???

    Plus a finisher.

  4. devilgunner says:

….just want to add that although I am not a friend of yours I hope to become like I have already done with some who blog here.

    Good morning Rico

  5. Bendtnersgone says:

    Morning Rico, hi everyone.
I’d just like to clarify my point about the midfield. I think they’ve done quite well given the circumstances. Arteta had to bed in quickly, Jack’s been crocked and we started the season in the worst possible way. We got hammered by the Mancs but somehow the ship was steadied. I definitely do not think we have no problems across our midfield particularly given how pants Walcott has been. But I really feel that a stronger base to build from would have helped enormously.

  6. rico says:

    Morning devil..

It seems we all keep banging the same drum and we know who are to blame – it just baffles why, when it’s so clearly obvious that we can’t score goals do we not as a club do something about it…

Suggestion is that the empty seats at The Emirates will be covered in black bin liners in way of a protest…

As bentnersgone asks, does anyone honestly know what is going on? I’m not even sure the club do anymore…

  7. stevepalmer1 says:

    Morning all,
Fine post BG but you have to change that name. You write a good post but i keep having visions of Arsenals Special one and i have to say your stuff is certainly better than he’s. Keep up the good work mate.
I am at a loss to understand what’s happening to us and has been happening for some years now, i keep thinking that there is method to the madness, but with Wenger not telling and Share holders still showing support only convinces me more of blind leading the blind. Wenger i thought would stick to any master plan that his had, but it certainly seems to be taking its time.

  8. Bendtnersgone says:

Oh yeah, thank you for the welcome Devilgunner, I’ve commented on here many times but this is my first post.

  9. devilgunner says:

I agree Bendtnersgone. Given the circumstances our midfield has done well. However our midfield is slightly lightweight, they are not tall enough to dominate in the air, there is no Parlouresque types who harry you all the time. There is not an adequate bench to replace them and keep the first three on their toes.

So although they have done exceptionally well considering the present circumstances imagine with everyone fit and wanting to chomp at playing time we would have a midfield trio of Song, Arteta and Jack, backed up by Coquelin, Diaby and Ramsey with Coquelin giving a helping hand in defence and midfield. They would be strong. However they are not.

  10. rico says:

    Morning BG ( i can’t type all that 😉 )

I’m another who believes the midfield are doing ok, as we saw against Bolton, we are creating enough chances, we are just not converting them – i have a feeling that the new boy is going to get throw in the deep end, his goal scoring figures are good and yes, they may not be against top sides but he obviously has an eye for goal.

Another is Chamberlain, once he finds the net, i think he will score many – i don’t understand why our placers get in front of goal and seem to get a rush of blood to the head…

Well, i think i do, panic, they panic because of the results we are having….

We need an early goal tomorrow to settle the nerves and then maybe more will follow….

  11. Steve says:

I think Kos is a better centre half than Cahill. Give the lad a run of games in a stable back 4 next to the Verminator. He is quality.

  12. rico says:

That is half the probs at the back Steve, wenger keeps chopping and changing them around, no two have continually played together since all the injuries, Tv and Kos would be my preferred choice apart from when we play teams with big strikers…

Not that Merts seems to be able to out jump them 😉

If only our idiot of a manager had bought a left back aswell as a striker….

  13. devilgunner says:

Yes I know Rico. However he is not there like Frimps. I tell you that they are a lot better than Rosicky and Benayoun.

Steve…..for me Kozzer would be better in central defensive midfield.

  14. devilgunner says:

Arsene Wenger has spoken to the press ahead of Saturday’s showdown with Blackburn Rovers and revealed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a doubt for the game after picking up a knock against Bolton.

Speaking at London Colney this morning, the boss confirmed:

“We have a little problem with Oxlade-Chamberlain which we have to check today. All the others look OK.”

Having been one of Arsenal’s most effective players in the last three games, the absence of the Ox would be a disappointment.

Andrey Arshavin will likely replace the England under-21 international if the teenager is deemed unfit following a fitness test this afternoon.

Great……now we cannot say or rather ask politely Whether he knows what he is doing since he has a knock and is in doubt. Time for rotation I presume.

And no I do not believe AW anymore. Too many lies in the past to make me say that he is right and we should believe him. You dont cry WOLF more than once with me let alone twice.

  15. rico says:

i know devil, thats asks another question doesn’t it? Why send Lansbury on loan when he has all that afc need, just like Jack, he is a gooner and will give more every game than some, he plays for the shirt and is proud, just like Jenks…

  16. Bendtnersgone says:

Steve, I like Kos too but look what we have as alternatives. The Squid is surely Cygan with hair and Djouroops has gone backwards. I realise playing time helps but he’s another with a history of injuries hampering progress. Cahill would have brought quality and depth to a very fragile defence.

  17. rico says:

Thats all we needed to hear devil! I also read that Wenger is considering resting RvP, why??

He’s just had a two week holiday, he doesn’t need a rest, and if he does, wtf didn’t he buy another striker if our captain is deemed so bloody fragile??

  18. rico says:

For me the question is not over Kos, it’s Merts – and with Gibbs so fragile, TV is going to be playing left back, so Cahill would have been ideal, or Samba…

Still though Jan Vertonghen would have been the one player who could have solved our defensive weakness all round….

  19. devilgunner says:

……because he needs to sell him for good money Rico. That is why he rests him now and then. So that he can rightly say that he lasted the whole season, scored lots of goals (its already 25 and probably if he stays fit would touch 40 goals this season) and thus can expect around three or four clubs to bid for him. With PSG, Shitty, Barca and Real AW can expect megamoney for his signature.

  20. devilgunner says:

I feel that RVP will fetch a lot more than Cesc did. if the above four clubs bid for him it would be crazy money.

And oh……..I forgot Anzhi also. They have paid more than 40million for 31 year old Eto’o

  21. Joaquim Moreira says:

The midfield has players with the same characterits and not make the really difference. We need a real nº 10. That it’s necessary since at least, two years ago. A midfiled player who thinks the offensive game, that their concerns are more attacking than defending, creative game that revolves around it, which is the reference in the Arsenal game. That player was Fabregas. Last year almost did not play. Two years ago, did not play regularly. Wilshere can be that player but you need one that does not exist and there was in this season. Arteta, Ramsey, etc. are 8. Then, we need Chamack, Park, shoot well and play with the head. I wonder why we did not get the Bent for a year or two … he didn’t want to come?

  22. rico says:

    Bloody joke though devil…

He will fetch more money becuase there will be a battle for his signing, unlike Cesc who was just a one man club sale….

  23. alan b'stard M P says:

    Hi all

Of course my favourite news is the black garbage bin liner to protest.

I wish they’d learn to just stay away. Don’t buy anything

  24. devilgunner says:

To have a real number 10 we have to change the formation JM. Cesc was never a typical number 10. He and DB10 were totally different players. Cesc could dictate the game from deep positions and slow or fast the game, however DB10 was the playmaker per excellence who operated behind the lone striker. RVP is a typical number 10 who is utilised as a centreforward. In other words he is also a square peg in a round hole. we can easily change to a 4-4-1-1 with RVP as the classic number 10.

Yes Rico….its a bloody joke. So now AW is not only playing for time, he is playing for money. So expect anything between 75 and 100 million from the sale of RVP, Theo, Song and Arshavin. And maybe we get a couple of kids in exchange.

  25. Steve says:

I get the point regarding Cahill. But paying 7m for a player and wages of 70-80k a week doesn’t seem worth it unless he is better than what we have. The crux of the matter remains in my opinion that with a fuly fit back line Kos would be my preference alongside Verm. With Merts coming in as and when we need him.

The basic problem has been a lack of full backs for 1 reason or another. The most ridiculous decision out of many for me was playing Santos in a pointless game when he knew Gibbs was out long term. It has ruined our season.

  26. rico says:

Hi JM, the short answer about Bent is his value, no way would Wenger pay as much as Villa did, we just always get the cheap alternative and guess what?

    Yep, they can’t score….

  27. alan b'stard M P says:

    DG

why not get as much as we can for all the duds & keep RvP? They won’t admit their business model is buggered

  28. rico says:

hi alan, but most have already paid for their ST, they’ll go – the empty seats are the ones to be covered apparently…

  29. devilgunner says:

We have so many injuries its unreal. Yes we will have injuries….definately. but so many?????? FFS just get rid of them if they keep getting on injured. Or else give them the p45 and tell them thanks for your bedwarming. and buy someone else.

    Yep, they can’t score….

it’s called getting what you pay for

  31. rico says:

something is going to change devil, either wenger will be gone in the summer, or stan will sell up to AU, or they will all go and AU will come in and bring his own people….

My own view is it will be the latter, AU is just watching this all unfold and will make his move….

  32. devilgunner says:

In the end we end up paying more than Villa did for Bent because neither Arshavin not Theo combined has scored as much as him. Hell not even if we add Gervinho have the above three scored as much as Bent.

Alan…..by DG its dutchgooner10 please. with me its devil.

we cannot sell them mate…..no one wants them. AW made sure of that by offering them high salaries so that no one can match them and they will stay with AW safe in the knowledge that if he cannot sell than he cannot buy. And his and the board’s scheme is protected.

  33. rico says:

Steve, totally agree, why we played him or TV in that game i’ll never understand….

alan, i know – and in Chamakhs case, we get exactly what we paid,

    nothing!!

    Hi Rico

Yes well, the point is not to buy them again. Why not refuse to go even if you paid? People have lost lives in revolutions. Not using a season ticket seems pale by comparison

The hip pocket nerve is the only thing these bastards understand

  35. rico says:

Hope Wenger has been watching just how well, he could very soon go through the same….

    😛

Arsène Wenger believes Steve Kean has handled his pressurised situation well this season.

Kean, who replaced Sam Allardyce as Blackburn manager in December 2010, has come under criticism from supporters amid regular protests at Ewood Park.

The Lancashire outfit have won just four matches this term but Wenger has backed his opposite number for standing strong in difficult circumstances.

“It’s difficult and I feel he has handled himself very well,” he said. “That’s a credit to him. I feel you always want to focus on what is important and that is the quality of the game and the environment, you have to deal with that.

“It’s not easy, nowhere is easy nowadays, but with the media and the opinions of everybody we live in a constant drama. But it’s not like that, you know?

“Football is a happy moment where people come together to watch the team they love. We have to stop to make a drama of everything but there are much more dreadful things in life than that.

“We have to keep focused on the fact that we have a fantastic opportunity to play football and we want to focus on that with happy minds, not always to be in a drama.”

  36. devilgunner says:

This year AW has praised 4 managers but not McLeish. Incredibly we have not won any of them. But did so against McLeish.

Who wants to bet we will not win against BRFC??????

  37. alan b'stard M P says:

maybe a loss against Blackburn is worth it. It puts another nail in the board’s dopey ideas, and closer to doing something about it

  38. rico says:

    Hi Potter..

alan, if i had a ST i would still go, but, i certainly would not be thinking about renewing this coming season, not if things stay the same….

the club already have the money from the ST sales for this season, they won’t care if fans turn up of not….

mind you, i wouldn’t have renewed my ST a few seasons ago, had i had one 😉

  39. Micko says:

    Morning all,
Not sure about the black bags, if it gets too windy they will make more noise than the crowd.
Arteta, actions speak louder than words.

  40. devilgunner says:

I hope so Rico. I also think that we should win. If we dont it will turn ugly at the Ems.

Tomorrow’s Squad: Szczesny, Sagna, Vermaelen, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Walcott, Song, Ramsey, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Arteta, van Persie, Fabianski, Rosicky, Henry, Park, Coquelin, Benayoun, Arshavin, Miquel.

  41. Micko says:

According to Alex Fynn, since the signing of Dennis Bergkamp in 1995 not one season ticket ever went on general sale at Arsenal again.
Dunno what all the fuss was about myself.

  42. terry says:

in the summer let of of diaby, rosicky and yossi and get in eriksson from ajax or dempsey from fulham or mark davis from bolton
let arsahvin go and get scott sinclair.(eden hazard lets not deam about him).
let djouru and squillachi go and get samba.
let chamak, nikki b and vela go and get tevez or saldado.
last let let flappy mannone and almunia go and get sorenson.
send gibbs on loan and get a left back on loan.

  43. rico says:

I think it will be ugly anyway devil 🙁

Amazing that Micko, we need another one or two or his kind in the summer but…..

  44. Joaquim Moreira says:

    I wrote a big comment but wasn’t posted…
News: Javi Garcia (Benfica) – Arsenal? (Arsenal called Benfica for him. MU his the fist of the quee).
“New techn”: Inter was negociated with Porto the midfield Guarin on loan via Skype… 20 minutes long for confirm the process. Quickly and must more cheaper 🙂

  45. alan b'stard M P says:

    from ” a different league ”

” Garcia may be interested in a move to Arsenal to link up with Arteta, but if the Gunners can not secure a deal, they will look to Racing Club captain Claudio Yacob. The Argentinian’s contract runs out at the end of the season and Wenger is keen on bringing Yacob to the Emirates Stadium, maybe even alongside Garcia.

  46. rico says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if a deal for Yacob hasn’t already been done, he would have been free to talk to other clubs in Jan… and no way would Wenger pay money when he can get him for free in a few months….

  47. rico says:

    Wenger:

At his pre-match press conference the Frenchman was reminded that Arsenal have never been as low as seventh at this stage of the season while he’s been in charge.

“The fact that we have never been in this position is rather a credit to me in 16 years so I do not take that as blame,” he responded.

“I take that as fantastic consistency, and that is the most difficult thing at the top level.

“I believe we played 15 years on the trot in the Champions League and we play in 10 days in the last 16 of the Champions League. We want to come back in the Champions League position in the league, we want to prepare properly for the next round of the FA Cup and I wish that in the next 16 years it will be exactly the same for the club and that the fans will be happy.

“I am here to make all of the fans happy and when I do not manage to do it I am, of course, not happy. But what is most important is that we have our fans happy at the end of the season.

“We lost three games and then the confidence drops a little bit,” added Wenger. “But overall we have shown a great response against Aston Villa where we came back with a fantastic 3-2 win and I feel that on Wednesday night we deserved to win the game.

“Overall I feel this team is strong mentally with a good spirit and attitude. We are ready for a fight and that is the most important thing.”

  48. devilgunner says:

EA7……if Arsenal are a disgrace to world football then what are the those behind 7th place in the EPL??????

  49. Marinello says:

Well done BG, and Hi to Rico, Steve, Alan, Micko and DevilGunner and all you lovely Gooners….
Just turned down a ticket for the match this weekend. Friend of a friend has a season ticket and can’t go. My reason in not going is partly because I am busy, but a part of me doesn’t want to go and feed the pockets of the fat cats who sit on the Board and don’t spend money on strengthening the team.

  50. devilgunner says:

we’ll soon have the claim that what went on BAW (berfore Arsene Wenger) was all down in preperation to his coming.

You see……Herbert Chapman was laying the foundations for the coming of AW.

So a change of date for Gooners……..till 1996 its all BAW.

Now we are in 2012 AAW

Enough to bang your head against the wall.

  51. stevepalmer1 says:

Although i agree with our midfield not doing too bad, But we shouldn’t think that Wilshere coming back will make us that much better. Yes Wilshere is not a bad player, but we have to remember that he has only one years Premier experience, he has not scored to many goals, and i don’t think he has made anymore assists than any other midfielder, Yes he is a solid player he has plenty of heart and he chases back and puts himself about, he is probably what i would call a solid midfielder but in all respect he is not a Cesc Fabregas and that is where our problems are, Jack would fill a place in most teams and he would do a good job, but he has not shown to me that he can do what Cesc did for us, in the future who knows but he will not save our season. What we need is a creative midfielder a playmaker sombody that can pass a ball through a needle and would be ready for the return. Cesc did all these things and he still does it for Barcelona. Cesc was sold for 40mill and it may take that amount to find a player to replace him. Barcelona got a steal for that price, i don’t think we can afford to replace him

    Well done sir.
Hiya Lee. Take care me ol’ mucker.
Get the feeling that there’s been a bit of a media lockdown at Ash Grove. Wenger’s platitudes are more likely to be met with derision these days.
I wonder if that is getting thru to the dressing room???

  53. allezkev on tea break says:

    Wotcha Steve.
I think the absense of Gervinho had had a bigger effect than we realise.
He was just starting to settle into the Arsenal way before he buggered off.

  54. Micko says:

    Fair play to you Marinello,
It does look that way, Kroenke seems quite happy making a profit out of us fans while giving nothing back in return, he can’t even be arsed to turn up to any of our games.
He’s more than happy to charge us for the most expensive season tickets but is not prepared to splash any profits on the team as you say, its taking advantage of the fans big time and more and more have decided to stay away, we saw that against Villa last week, big gaping holes in the crowd.
You would have thought the alarm bells would have starting ringing last month but no its just business as usual for Kroenke, he just turns a blind eye.
If it carries on like this we may be better off moving into UnderHill.

  55. Micko says:

    Kev, stop pretending your busy.

Steve, we’re stuck with what we have, all we can do is get behind the team, that creative midfielder we’ve all been crying out for is just wishful thinking now.

  56. stevepalmer1 says:

Your right there Micko, but if the management dont take notice the first time keep telling them. We aint going away

  57. rico says:

    Afternoon guys and gals…

Good on you, and i don’t blame you….

  58. rico says:

Make sure she doesn’t get a text when you are out Micko, could be a willy wonka photo from Cashley 😉

Hi AK, sorry to have missed you, and Steve, i think Jacks return would give us the bit of lift in the midfield, but i don’t think we’ll see him again thise saeon.

he may be young and only in his first season but my word, he’s bloody good – and his attuitude and passion is just what we miss too often….

  59. DutchGooner10 says:

    Hi royal brothers and sisters,

Been reading the comments last 2 days. Many painful obvious leaving nothing to add.

Which made me think of a useful protest that WILL be noticed without the negative echoes rolling from the stands. Splitting fans in pros and cons.

The idea goes as follows: all blogs Arsenal related shall be asked if they would like to participate in a joined effort to send a message to board as well as manager. If there’s enough to call it a majority we pick a double date to post a black page twice. 48 hours of blackout with the comment section opened.

  60. rico says:

    Laters Micko 😉

Hi DG – they wouldn’t do that sadly, when pushed, 99% are willing to moan but do little about it…..

  61. DutchGooner10 says:

Rico we’re caught in fact free politics by club/manager. Season tickets 6.5% raised over empty promises. We need media exposure as a legion, drinking all from the same cup to call it poisoned and point out together who has fixed our drink.

  62. Scott from Oz says:

    Just read this article…….
How could you suggest a back five without Koscielny???????
Please, don’t ask me to believe Cahill is the better player…..that’s ludicrous.
At worst,he’s been our second best player for the last 12 months where Cahill has hardly set the world on fire.
Sorry, but the author has it wrong there.
I’m not saying I’d have been unhappy with Cahill being signed, but only for squad depth.
Having said that, our problem is taking our chances,so the need for a striker or attacking/creative midfielder is ten times as important as another centre back, imo.

  63. rico says:

Hi Scott – everyone has different views, and the author is telling it as he feels..

I’d have Cahill over Merts, but thats just my opinion…

But, had we just bought a goal scorer, the defensive prob wouldn’t be so bad as we’d score more 🙂

  64. DutchGooner10 says:

Rico a good meal soothes the soul. Hence the reason many business bobo treat the other on a dinner to change/massage their unwilling stance. 😉

  65. DutchGooner10 says:

Buying a prolific goalscorer would have make AW look stupid over Park and Chamug who are used to stretch time before all loaners come available not blocked by work permits.

For me BFG is a miss fit for the EPL, Samba is a Soll in the making more adapted, athletic and physically aware to cope with the demands of the league. Vertonghen could have solved all our fragility defenses and allow Kozzer/TV move to midfield if we wanted to change tactics to 4-4-2!!!

But DG, he is making himself look stupid by standing by them, one doesn’t get a game and the other is not good enough to play Sunday league….

Many rate Merts, I am not one of them either – much rather Cahill or Samba, big guys who are used to the PL….

    Spot on re Vertonghen….

  68. DutchGooner10 says:

Rico it’s a negligible reality he sells the final third that short. I am sure he could have sold Chamug and AA if he could accept some loss on transfer fees. Than go out and find a guy that is in for 10 goals half a season. So yeah, I agree AW left us bleeding once again.

  69. rico says:

But by doing that DG, again he admits he bought wrong – he is taking us for mugs and those above him are happy to let him carry on doing the same……

  70. DutchGooner10 says:

Rico I bet we can ping pong AGREEMENT all night. Let’s chillax and entertain ourselves with the telly. Tomorrow another day to go through the motions.

I am offski for tonight. Have a superb evening. Rise with fresh comments in the morning.

  71. rico says:

🙂 DG – you have a good night, I’m going to follow you, not littrally of course 😉

Nighty all, Nighty AK when you get another tea-break…. 😉

    Til tomorrow guys….

  72. DutchGooner10 says:

There was a comment a few days ago using the Roman catastrophe as an analogy where a successful ruler deprives himself of logic and become more and more isolated. Still rings true in my ears, as it stands now the transfer window is closed.

  73. smudge says:

Vertonghen would not be good with our defensive coach at the moment scott. Our ability not to defend is infamous!

  74. Bendtnersgone says:

Allezkev, thank you, I think I’ll be posting again soon assuming Rico deems my efforts worthy. Our situation is really getting on my tits. Terry Neill was our manager when I started supporting the Arsenal and that wasn’t a great time for gooners but we’ve had considerable success since those dark days and to see us sliding backwards for want of a few tweaks is infuriating. I have some more thoughts which I shall pass on to you Rico.

  75. smudge says:

At the time Bendtnersgone I seem to remember that Neill annouced that he ‘wanted to win the league in style’. He had Brady O’leary and Stapleton and we were up there and in the mix but alas their was one team better (or maybe two)(or maybe three)( or maybe it’s just meant to be)…Baby!

  76. Bendtnersgone says:

Ha! Indeed Smudge. To be honest my recollections are a bit hazy given my age back then. I have very clear memories of the fuzzy headed Alan Sunderland tearing down the left wing creating havoc. And I clearly remember him scoring a corker against the enemy in a wonderful 3-2 win but alas, as you said, for all the ability we had available, there were too many teams better. My fear is that’s what’s becoming the case now.

  77. smudge says:

Bendtnersgone I’m still a believer . Someday when the big russian take’s over we will take home the champions league. Alway’s believe!

  78. Bendtnersgone says:

I’m a realist Smudge, always have been, and my gut tells me the board like making money, the manager makes them money, we get charged the highest ticket prices in the world, yet the powers that be seem to be holding back when it comes to strengthening the squad. Whose coffers are we lining? Actually , I’ll stop there. I think I’ve got my next post!

  79. smudge says:

Bendtnersgone I have been a follower since Charlie . Now today is our blackest day. We are being control by money guru’s. Guy’s who’s greed outweigh’s common natural instint’s. The fan’s of ARSENAL FC must stand up and be counted . More Booing More anti the situation as it is now. Cos we spend our money for the team not the bosses not the manager (who has lost his fuckin mojo) Anarchy is on the fucking ajenda!

  80. Bendtnersgone says:

Agreed Smudge. You pre date me by just a few years but we feel the same way. Our club is being buggered by arseholes that value coin over club and we should NOT stand for it.

  81. smudge says:

At the end of the day bendtner(NOW HE IS SHIT 🙂 ) GG turned us around AW also done the same but nothing lasts for ever. But Wenger now thinks he’s a fucking lord! The guy has lost the plot. Now all Arsenal lovers must decide what we do. Anarchy?

  82. allezkev says:

    Blimey Smudge i thought i’d tuned into MTV… 🙂
    Rico, 1.25pm;
    Bullshit, bullshit and more bullshit.
I never read his crap in the programme anymore. He just compounds our frustrations by taking the piss.
Yes he is very intelligent, but we don’t all read the Daily fcuking Star!

  83. allezkev says:

Well Nick, you worked out your next post?

I shall look forward to reading it.

As for all those out there, pleading with Le Big Head to go and sign a striker. May i gently remind you all how long it took him to finally go out and get a couple of centre~halves!
Despite the fact that we were begging him to do so for about 4 or 5 years. Or after Sol Campbell left.

  84. Scott from Oz says:

Bendtnersgone, all I ask,for what its worth,is that articles don’t attempt to shove things down our throat we all already know.
Be original,be different and you will be truly loved lol.
