Ramsey wants Spain move. Bielik ready to solve DM problem?

Morning all…

Mr Carpetright has certainly stirred up a hornets nest hasn’t he but at least Arsene Wenger had a chuckle about it all during his press conference yesterday and he did of course quickly dampen any suggestions that Arsenal might blow £200 million on transfers this summer. Actually, he all but smashed the idea to pieces with a big heavy mallet!

No surprise there eh and I’m glad, I’d hate us to become a club which just threw vast amounts of money around like the Dippers have done for the second summer running, or the Mancs and noisy neighbours have done in the past and Utd are doing again during this transfer window. That’s not the way a club like our behaves is it.

And to be honest, I don’t know anyone, certainly not not here on on HH who would love to see Arsene Wenger behave in a similar fashion. Yes we need a couple of players but they’ve got to be right and we only need a couple imo because the club have got a lot right in the past. Two or three added here and there have ensured the balance both on and off the pitch has always been good. Ok, key positions have been neglected but team morale is sky high. That counts for a lot in this game.

Can you imagine having a player like Balotelli in the squad? No, me neither….

Anyway, on the back of the old boys financial declaration, Ladbrookes decided to do a survey asking Arsenal fans which striker they’d like to see Arsene Wenger sign and Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette came out as favourite. Karim Benzema came a close second.

Arsenal thrive on speed and Lacazette has that in bundles apparently and his goal scoring figures certainly suggest he has an eye for goal and we’ll all get to see him later today as Arsenal face Lyon in The Emirates Cup, kick-off is at 4.20pm…

Gnabry, Bielik, Iwobi and Reine-Adelaide all trained with the first team yesterday so we can expect to see all three get some playing time over the weekend. If Bielik has a successful two days, that could spell the end of our hopes of signing another midfielder.

Gossip:

Aaron Ramsey has told us all that he’s flattered by the links to Barcelona and he’d like to play in Spain. One day!

They did the treble last year and it’s just really nice to be linked with one of the best clubs in the world.

One day I would like to go over to Spain to play just to see what it’s like and to experience that. But at the moment I’m with Arsenal and I feel like this Arsenal team can go and be successful and challenge for things.

Ouch!

Gossip:

The Benzema stories continue to rumble on and despite Rafa trying to dampen them yesterday, even he could only say he ‘hopes’ his player stays in Madrid. Mind you, the players agent has hinted that he’ll be staying in Spain.

The Lyon manager however has been a bit more convincing around speculation that Lacazette could be moving clubs and when asked where his player will be playing this coming season he replied:

Olympique Lyonnais. I haven’t got much to say. He has said he wants to stay with us.

Of course some clubs are going to be attracted to the sort of player he is but he is under contract at Lyon and with all of the different competitions we have this season with the Champions League and the domestic French cups, we obviously want to keep him at the club.

I bet if the right offer was made they’d sell him….

That’s it for Saturday, enjoy the footie….

  1. Joe says:

Its nice to see we are back in England for the finishing of pre-season training the rest of the PL teams seem to be spread to the four corners of the world.
I think it should help with our start to the season because of the lack of traveling but I suppose teams do fly first class.

  2. Micko says:

    Morning all,

Lacazette getting tongues wagging today, this time last year it was Falcao, maybe we should count our blessings !

Oh and don’t worry Scott, Welshman very rarely make it abroad.

rico, any more up-dates on when Diaby will be wheeled out to the West Brom faithful……..

  3. rico says:

Agree Joe, we got our travelling done and dusted early which can only help…

Hi Micko, no update on Diaby yet,I suspect he’s still having a medical… Could be a long one…

  4. Marshall says:

Hi all, off all the dozens of players we’re linked with a certain Reus fron bvb got me excited.
What’d you think of him house? I know he just renewed last season but ib football world you never know. Reus or Auba would be top top quality.
As for £200m warchest Am glad we are favored with a sensulible manager. Would be nice to see how Beiber er Bielik perfoms in this tournament.
Rambo got ambitions which is nice- every player wants to play alongside messi. Let him win us the league 1st.

  5. Bt62 Gooner says:

Micko, there is a photo of Diaby in W.B.A training gear, doing the rounds…

    How you doin’ everybody….

  6. tsgh says:

Blame Scott re. Ramsey’s undercover agent for that ‘treason’ of a comment… 😉

A few days back Scott was saying if an offer came in he would decide… 😉

The last agent to make such comments was Darren Dein btw…

    Morning HH familia?

  7. Dublingunner says:

Morning, good post, Rico, I heard that Diaby passed his medical yesterday, but french media reporting that he,s talking to Marseille today, whatever that means, still surprises me that Lacazette heads Benzema, reus and Lewandowski as the player our fans would most want, after one good season.
Re Ramsey, all the top players do eventually want some of the Barca,Madrid action and experience.

  8. tsgh says:

    Well done to King Abou..

Micko, did you read about the conspiracy that AW and the medical team tried to sabotage Diaby’s career with fake injuries? 😉

  9. Bt62 Gooner says:

Ts, the OM player you were touting around yesterday, was he not linked to us a couple of seasons back whilst still in Belgium and claimed to be a an Arsenal fan?

  10. rico says:

    🙂 Bt re Diaby..

Thanks Dublin.. I doubt the voting is a true reflection on fans view, after all, I didn’t vote… lol

  11. Dublingunner says:

Breaking: Abou Diaby has agreed to join Marseille & is expected tomorrow or beginning of next week at the club, according to La Provence.

  12. tsgh says:

    Possibly Bt…

Have you heard Reus has asked BVB to accept a bid for him? Just heard from a fellow BVB fan. Allegedly he does not think he and Tuchel will work well together…

  13. Wavy says:

Diaby’s medical school are nesessarily long affairs…they all have to find signs of life before any progress can be made!
I wish him well where ever he hauls up.

Striker news: Lacazette, if he plays today we shall see what we shall see! Will the cunning old fox Aulas make sure we don’t by not playing him? It wouldn’t surprise me, unless of course he actually puts him in ‘the shop window’ in order to start a bidding war! From what has been written it would seem he is the most likely target, the rest just don’t excite me at all, well Benzema if we’re desperate. The rest, nah, not for me, waste of good money!

    Morning all.

  14. Bt62 Gooner says:

Ts, heard nothing regarding Reus only the usual rumours, i think i did suggest a similar scenario to yourself towards the end of last season, when he signed hisnew contract..

  15. tsgh says:

    shame re Reus.

He needs a change but his last 3 injuries have been worrying… he is close to 30 now than 25 y.o as well so…

  16. Dublingunner says:

tsgh, Reus is still only 26, is said to be a good friend of Ozil,s, claiming Ozil has the required quality to compete with Ronaldo for the Ballon d’Or

  17. scottfromoz says:

    Ginge, ya cheeky bastard lol.
If Lewandwoski PLUS 20 million was thrown in for Aaron, I’d consider it.
Just shows how highly I rate the striker 🙂 🙂
Micko, there are more Welshman in Spain’s top Teams right now than there are English lads…………
    Morning everyone.

  18. allezkev says:

    Afternoon Rico…

    Good post M’dam, I was entranced… 😉

    Ramsey to Barcelona?

    Hmm, £50million…

    Would Arsenal take it?

We’re well stocked in midfield, we have Crowley coming through, Wilshere promising to stay fit, Bielik, Hayden, Zelalem, all pushing for join the senior squad over the next 18 months…

If the deal is right, I think the club would take it…

You can’t blame Ramsey for wanting to try his luck in Spain either…

This topic will hot up over the next 12 months methinks…

  19. rico says:

    Afternoon Kev. Thanks 😉

I reckon Arsenal would take £50 for Ramsey, more if he has another good season, he must be due one… lol

  20. Gunnerdna says:

Rico, we might be ok if no DM comes in but without a top CF is we have no chance. Coq has been doing well playing in a limited role but we need an upgrade. Everywhere i read fans saying what if Coq gets injured. lol. But the real question should be what if SC get injured or loss form.

  21. born again goonster says:

What are the odds theo signs and my long lost pal DNA reappears life is good. Morning HH. I took a sabbatical good to see no one notices. Why I outta. So what if I have been mauled to death by a grizzly on a hiking trip to the rockies. You guys are unbelievable. Am looking at you adam.

  22. rico says:

Gdna, we differ in view, I think we’ll struggle more if Coquelin gets injured as up front we have many options. If we sign a top class striker i’d be happy but a DM is my priority…

But my hunch is Bielik will be called on….

  23. born again goonster says:

Benzema is great and all but theo ll lead us to the title if we can keep him fit all season. We haven’t scored against chelshit because we haven’t exposed their ageing back line to some pressure. Stop lumping the ball to giroud and let theo sanchez and the OX run at cnut Terry and see if we won’t blitz them. Theo is like a new signing. Am happy he’s staying .

  24. born again goonster says:

He’s scored a goal in every game he’s played in since the draw at old toilet. He’s in form and looks scary. Him sanchez and the OX interchanging up front ll wreck havoc in the opposition half. I don’t know about you guys but I have a good feeling about walcott this season. 30 goals a season striker? ? Yep that’s him alright.

  25. born again goonster says:

Am still milfed rico not even a mention for 2 weeks. Am hurt. Gee am I that unlovable? 😀

  26. born again goonster says:

Plus theo has actually scored against all top 4 teams. He scores against chelshit on a regular basis. That 5.3 wallop at shitford bridge comes to mind. Give theo his chance says i.

  27. Micko says:

tsgh, you sure your not confusing Fabregas with King Abou !

Scott, isn’t monkey boy the only Welsh player playing abroad, he’ll be back in the PL sooner rather than later with his tail between his legs.

Howdy Stan, good to see your feathers have grown back after your clipping.

  28. born again goonster says:

Howdy micko nah feathers not clipped some folks just don’t get me so am turning it down. Only few people do. You adam kev and dev. Others think am serious while am really not 😀 I mean why take a guy who goes by the alias blonde adonis serious? I mean seriously 😀

  29. scottfromoz says:

Micko, he is, but as I said, he gives the Welsh a bigger presence in Spain’s top sides than all the English lads combined.
Two best players from that part of the world are Welsh, at present.

  30. Martin Wengrow says:

If Benzema’s agent says that it’s 1000per cent certain that he’s staying, then it’s 1000 per cent certain that he’s leaving.

  31. rico says:

Good equaliser too, that De Bryne (spelling) fella is off to City isn’t he, funny how Jose couldn’t get on with him…

Nice to see the boys watching on…

  32. Micko says:

If you say so Scott lol, most of the Real fans want rid of him. he’ll always be a tottenham reject and a sheep shagger !

  33. born again goonster says:

This whole hold up play is overated. Loserfools almost won the league with midgets up front. Pace power and precision is what we need. Ozil to thread the passes and theo sanchez and the OX to finish. We ll win the league in a canter.

  34. allezkev says:

    Hey Hiya Stan…

    How are ya doing…

I had to have a second look at your 2pm amigo…

    Surely you meant miffed mate…

I mean, milfed mate is another level.

  35. born again goonster says:

Lol MG nah am done with bad language Mon fre. As my name implies am a born again goonster now. No more hurling abuses on folks on here. They take me too serious 😀

  36. allezkev says:

    All good Stan…

I’m sitting in a mega-traffic jam in Regent Street.

    Just passing the Nespresso store…
Can’t see George Clooney or Adam as it happens…

  37. born again goonster says:

So what’s your take on the being our top striker MG? I know a lot of people don’t rate him but I think this is his break out year. He ll have a stormer and bang in the goals. I see a hatrick every other game 😀

  38. born again goonster says:

Heheheheheh kev I have a feeling adam looks more like adam Sandler then George Clooney 😀 I mean come on. This is the same dude that wants to boil people down into glue. He ll look creepy don’t you think 😀

  39. allezkev says:

The traffic in London is really fcuked up…

And nobody in authority, gives a shit…

But the sun is shining Stan, so I’m getting a nice tan… 😀

  40. allezkev says:

No Stan, you’re wrong there mate…

If the light hits Adam just right and he is in profile, then you would say that George Clooney is his twin…

  41. born again goonster says:

Spot on MG I think he will. It’s a big season for him. Plus you know he’s got goals in him anytime he steps on the pitch. Between him alexis rambo Ollie and santi I see us scoring a hundred goals 😀

  42. Dublingunner says:

I think Jose said of de bruyne, “he lacked the mentality to play for chelsea” Tosser.

  43. goonster says:

I ll really love to see le coq up against gonalons 😀 that ll make a tasty encounter. Can’t wait. Hope arsene starts with him though. COYFGS

  44. Joe says:

Welcome back Goonster or what ever your calling yourself these days 🙂
Enjoying watching the tour de France it’s in it’s last 10km.

  45. goonster says:

Hey joe 😀 nice to be back. Never left anyway. Went on a hiking trip to the rockies. How are u mate?

  46. Malaga gooner says:

Goonie i know no one likes him, but if we had suarez we would be up there with the best in Europe

  47. goonster says:

MG that ship has sailed a while back plus I think walcott is a better finisher than suarez. The racist biter is a better footballer all round but theo is a better finisher and I have the stats to back that up.

  48. Dublingunner says:

I was of the belief that Giroud signed a new contract last sep, on his 28th birthday worth 85 big ones, obviously i was wrong.

  49. Adam says:

Thanks Kev. I couldn’t keep Sandra’s hands off me. 🙂
Stan I was reading about the Dutch last night and it said they are the tallest nation on earth. Are you really 6 feet 4 inches?

  50. goonster says:

Adam am just under 6’1 buddy….bt where on earth have you been my man? It’s been a while

  51. Bt62 Gooner says:

Goonie, enjoying a peaceful summer, now ramping it up for the season ahead. How’s the little one doing?

  52. goonster says:

Bt she’s a grown woman already. Am gonna marry her off soon 😀 She’s walking and eating all by herself but my god she is a drama queen 😀

  53. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Afternoon Lovlies and hunkies.

While you are busy discussing Goonie’s attributes I have found the line up somewhere…….

    Arsenal

Martinez, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Coquelin, Ramsey, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ozil, Iwobi, Giroud

Subs: Cech, Gabriel, Monreal, Chambers, Bellerin, Hayden, Arteta, Cazorla, Reine-Adelaide, Walcott, Akpom

  54. Adam says:

The fog is clearing Stan. A sharper picture is emerging of a blonde Adonis hunk with flowing blond locks eating Vlaames friet with mayonnaise. 🙂

  55. goonster says:

I said it all we need is pace power and precision. Let’s have that up front and see how cnut Terry ll fare 😀

  56. goonster says:

Rico some the football we re playing is invisible-esque. Wow this team needs to be free of injuries. Hahahahah gonalons who?? Lecoq is king 😀

  57. goonster says:

Rambo man of the match by a mile…ozil runner up. Rico we just blitz them. Imagine theo playing instead of iwobi and sanchez in place of oxchambo! We ll kill them.

  58. Hell Raising Devil says:

That was one hell of a half. I just could not believe my eyes.

Ramsey having a stormer, Iwobi as well. Chambers cannot be stopped. Practically Coquelin, Ozil and Aaron have got the game by the scruff of the neck and are doing what they want.

Another game like that from Iwobi tomorrow (if he plays) and IF he comes on against the Chavs than I can assure you that AW WILL NOT BUY. Iwobi is simply good. Him and Akpom will save AFC a lot of money.

  59. goonster says:

Be afraid premier League be very afraid. The arsenal is back and we re coming for our title. Yeeeeeeaaaaaah. Come on you gunners 😀

  60. Hell Raising Devil says:

Rico….you are right about Lyon not being Barca etc. But you can only beat what is in front of you. who is to say that today that might have been RM, BM or Barca?? they are humans as well.

Remember…..once Milan went to RM and battered them 5-0. When everyone believe RM to be the top team in the world.

  61. rico says:

Devil, that wasn’t my point, I just know some people, like Stan confirmed, will say It’s only Lyon. But I think that would be harsh on Arsenal today…

  62. goonster says:

Hahahahahah some tosser just said we re flat track bullies 😀 you just can’t win with these guys.

  63. goonster says:

Rico I ve been impressed with coquelin’s distribution today. Since that a fa cup final he’s taken it up a notch. Am really impressed. On the market right now he ll be worth 30 million pounds.

  64. Rick says:

    Afternoon Rico and the house.
I think Iwobl is showing what we have been missing a real left footed winger.
Looking forward to seeing Chuba and Isaac 2nd half.

  65. goonster says:

Rico 😀 I actually think oxchambo ll be better than hazard if only he could stay healthy. Hahahahaha laccazette is shit 😀

  66. goonster says:

And this without walcott sanchez santi bellerin monreal and cech. Hahahahahah are we going to kill them.

  67. goonster says:

Rico we won’t get one. We have enough cms as it is. I ll take illaramendi or samper though to understudy arteta.

  68. Wavy says:

Three good things from this afternoon:
Firstly we’re winning 5-0 and 5 goal Arsenal goals too!
Secondly, if ever a point was made that we don’t need another striker, world class or not, it is too be seen in today’s performance! As Devil said earlier.
And thirdly, and probably best of all; how good is the BT commentary? Answer we are not being forced to listen to the mono tonic tones of Microbe Owen, and long may he be absent from the mic!!

  69. rico says:

Wavy, I’m one, rare I know, who thinks we don’t need a striker. Midfider yes as Coquelin needs cover and maybe a winger but I think Iwobi has just thrown a spanner in those works….

  70. tsgh says:

Rico- did you just hear AW place the cheque book back in the safe? ;0

Wolfsburg will be a sterner test.

    Josuha, Gustavo, De Bruyne etc

  71. goonster says:

Rico great come back 😀 if we had smashed Wolfsburg today ts would be like lyon ll be a sterner test gonalons grenier laccazette lol

  72. tsgh says:

Max Kruse is a dime of a forward…

Rico- re wolfsburg front line, glad to finally hear you admit you fear Bendtner.. 🙂

  73. goonster says:

You can’t just win with ts 😀 I ll love to see you in your old age. A cranky old goat with a cane chasing little kids around to get in line 😀

  74. tsgh says:

Don’t get me wrong Rico, I am very pleased with how we are playing…

Its just the expectation that follows from the terraces…
I have a friend right now telling me that based on this form we should be winning all our 5 opening games easily…

  75. rico says:

Well that’s a problem for your friend Ts….

The reality is, we are having a good pre season, players are fit and looking good and all bodes well.

It’s better to go into the new season on a high and with confidence than to have list all our games playing poorly.

These boys look happy, very happy and that’s only good for Arsenal….

  76. tsgh says:

I am with you Rico and Goonie.

I just think our squad after getting some wins under their belt begin to underestimate teams they should be beating…

Probably digging myself into a bigger hole. 😉

    Indeed dna.

  77. rico says:

Well, I’m going to wait until next weekend before being overly critical about anything… All I can say is today was good on the eye against a French side who came second in their league…. Lol

  78. allezkev says:

Seriously Rico, imo, next weekend will tell us where we stand in the food chain…

Beat Chelsea and anything is possible…

Frankly we’ve won this trophy already.
Wolfsburg might give us a game, they might not, tomorrow both teams will rotate and fitness will be the aim…

  79. Gunnerdna says:

Lyon was terrible Rico, Lacazette, Fekir and Gonalons are quality players who would fit in at AFC, but for some reason they didn’t show up today.

  80. allezkev says:

Pleased to see Hayden get a game…

Bielik might get a run-out tomorrow.
    Akpom might start.

Cech in goal, Wilshere, Walcott will start.
    It’ll be interesting…

  81. Gunnerdna says:

Cech – “If you have a game with two big teams it’s decided by the little details”. What are the little details are they being address for the new season?

  82. tsgh says:

Man City looking to sign Tony Jantschke. At least we don’t need a right back.

Dna what do you think about Bas Dost

  83. Hell Raising Devil says:

what I liked about the team selection was that AW changed only the midfield and attack. He left the GK and defence intact for the whole game. So today it was Martinez, Debuchy, Per, Kos, Gibbs.

Tomorrow it will be Cech, Bellerin, Gabi, Chambers, Monreal. If we keep a clean sheet like today better.

I think that tomorrow’s defence will be the AFC defence in two years time. Debuchy, Per, Kos,Monreal will all be over 30. So AW is getting ready for the next backline. And they have the added experience of Cech behind them.

  84. Micko says:

GDNA, not conceding the first goal !

Didn’t realise it was the Community Shield next week, football’s coming home Gooners.

  85. allezkev says:

Giroud did really well, considering that a Lyon defender was trying to swap shirts with him. Good finish, he directed it perfectly…

  86. allezkev says:

Nice first time finish from Iwobi and classic late run, simple finish by Ramsey.

Great to see the players taking responsibility and taking on shots instead of mindless passing.

  87. tsgh says:

I wonder when the Manchester United fans and media slating Ozil in his 1st season, can start we discuss why Di Maria (British Transfer record) is leaving for PSG after 1 year…

  88. allezkev says:

That sounds promising Ginge because I doubt that Wenger is gonna get who he wants in the market for the price that he wants to pay. So what we have is what we’ve got for the season ahead…

Unless Real sell Benzema, last minute.com…

  89. tsgh says:

Ozil with a goal, two assists and a second assist. Giroud, a goal and two assists
Surely, this is Ozil’s season pfa player of season.

  90. allezkev says:

Whatever anybody thinks about the opposition we’ve faced so far this preseason, we’ve got 13 goals in 3 games minus Alexis….

    Or Welbeck…

    To me, that’s encouraging…

  91. goonster says:

Twitter is on fire pro wenger and anti wenger having a go at each others. Hahahahah only in arsenal.

  92. allezkev says:

Frankly Ginge, any Arsenal fan, worth his salt, will have totally disregarded the negative spin we get re: Ozil…

    I think he’s a wonderful footballer…
    Always have done.
    Always will do…

    The media can fcuk off…

  93. Hell Raising Devil says:

I am happy with what we have. Unless AW brings someone who is Sanchez like quality and attitude, then I prefer if he goes with what he has.

the only reservation I have is in DM. Unless Hayden steps up.

  94. goonster says:

We just won a game against a top European team yet all these tossers could do is moan. Adam we need a bigger pot.

  95. tsgh says:

Very true Kev but you and I know, the media are able to influence the atmosphere when things are not going well.

When the media try to down play our win over united by saying if Dimaria had not been sent off…

  96. goonster says:

No matter what some people are just never happy. We could smash bayern Madrid or barfa and they ll still moan. Then why don’t you fuck off and support the chavs or shitty teams. Am fucking livid right now. Grrrrrr

  97. tsgh says:

Dev- I would like a Fekir/Reus type attacker who can make late runs into the box.

We are still very dependent on Ramsay in that regards imho…

    Chill goonie..

  98. tsgh says:

Stats Arsenal v Lyon Shots 16-8 On target 8-4, Fouls 6-11 Duels Won 48%-52%, Pass Accuracy 87%-89%, Possession 44%-56%

  99. Gunnerdna says:

Ts, Bas Dost is a B/C level player, we need 2 more players who are A/A+ plus to compete for the PL. So Dost is a no no for me. At the moment for AFC to be challenging we need players of Ozil and Alexis quality or better. imo

  100. Hell Raising Devil says:

I liked the fact that the 6 goals were shared between 6 different players. that shows balance in the team.

Ginge I would like Reus…..but if Iwobi and Akpom take their goalscoring in the EPL for AFC then we would save lots of money.

Mourinho gives chances to young ones like Loftus Cheek. Why not us. If they are good enough why buy??

  101. Gunnerdna says:

Goon, i don’t think fans aren’t happy, its just fear of here we go again with AW failing to address the obvious deficiency’s in the squad that has been obvious for the past couple seasons. To be honest he did address the GK situation but seems like our only other addition is cohesion. lol. We are short quality wise, players who will make a difference in big games.

  102. rico says:

Kev, I agree, next weekend will tell us more…

I just find it really negative to dismiss Lyon without giving our own team credit and that happens so much imo

As Devil said, and most of say, you can only best who you face and we battered them good and proper……

    I’m happy… Lol

  103. goonster says:

Don’t be surprised is left side cheek is sent to Oldham athletic never to return. Morono is an ass.

  104. Gunnerdna says:

Ts, Di Maria is world class he will come good, i think his problems are more to do with his family not happy in Manchester. Remember this is the same player who was MOM in the CL final.

  105. goonster says:

Dna who is available now is the question? Whom will you replace in that midfield. Rambo can’t even get a game ffs. I know we ll get a forward but as for the middle I doubt it. No one ll love to come and play 5th fiddle to santi lecoq rambo and wilshere. Wenger won’t buy so don’t bother. We might get a forward but if he’s not a super quality I say save it. Theo Ollie sanchez and welbz ll do a job for us.

  106. goonster says:

I too share that optimism rico. I think it’s in the contract we signed with puma. We have to sign a marquee player every season.

  107. Gunnerdna says:

Goon, every player in the world is available to AFC other than Messi and Ronaldo. If we offer RM 45 mil they sell us Benzema. Same thing with BM for Lewandowski. The club needs to change how they handle transfers. Can the current MF wins the PL, in my opinion NO, so there is always room for improvement.

  108. rico says:

Gdna, that’s not true, not every player wants to move and not every club wants to sell regardless of what money is offered…

    Let’s keep it real!

  109. Joe says:

That’s how you win a football match just in from the pub just been doing some catching up the one thing that stood out from the comments that Goonster’s lovely daughter is a drama queen.
Just a thought I wonder where she gets it from 🙂

  110. goonster says:

Dna bayern won’t sell lewa if arsenal offer 220 million. They need to find a replacement first before offloading him. Plus why ll they sell? What kind of message does that send to the fans? How come we haven’t sold kozzer to madrid? Look(in wengers voice) it’s one thing to bid for a player it’s another for the other club to sell. There are no top class strikers now. Madrid needs to replace to sell so does bayern.

  111. goonster says:

Rico ts didn’t watch the game I bet even If be does he ll still pick it apart. Lol. You just can’t win with him.

  112. Gunnerdna says:

Rico, i think you are underestimating the value of the pound, they could get Reus and have change left. There is a big rumor they want to sell Benz. Lets not buy into players always falling in our laps, every player have a price.

  113. Gunnerdna says:

Goon, from the outside looking in Pep is not a big fan of Lew, did you saw his agent remarks?

“I think it would have to be a very high offer, definitely higher than €50 million,” he told Polish television.

  114. Rick says:

    evening all,
Very good win lets hope they are in our group in the champions league.
Delighted to see Isaac get some time. Do you realize that he has yet to play a full
game since he was injured last Nov so today was a step in the right direction.
There is a report saying we have signed a 16year old C/F from Ajax his name is Donyell Malen’
If you go to Jerorge Bird there is a link to what he is .like Take a look and tell me who he reminds you of.

  115. allezkev says:

Rico, even if Chelsea beat us – remember who the referee is – I won’t lose heart if our performance is at the top level…

We only face Chelsea twice in the EPL and if we get two draws then it’s what we do in the other 36 games that count..,

  116. goonster says:

Pep has incurred the wrath of bayern faithfuls by selling shwein I doubt he ll want to irk them amy further. Plus I hear man poo are readying an 80 million pounds deal for muller. So you think bayern ll loose the core of their team in one season? Come on now dna.

  117. Joe says:

Who is better than Coq that will come to Arsenal for 25m or so and not expect to start or expected to start by some fans.
I wonder how many Arsenal fans would want Wenger to drop Coq.

  118. allezkev says:

I see that Reine-Adelaide came on and did well according to Jeorge Bird…

Interesting Rick, when you consider how underwhelming our U21’s and U18’s have been, that we have such talents like Hayden, Akpom and Iwobi coming through…

  119. goonster says:

Spot on kev i ve been saying that for years. Give morono a taste of his own medicine both home and away. Park a huge red bus and play possession football. Then smash the other cnuts in the league. The top 4 battle is overated. We lost the league at Swansea spurs Swansea home and stoke. Get maximum points in those games and we are champions.

  120. rico says:

Did you read my post Gdna? I said that if we offered the right money for lacazette, I bet Lyon would sell.nwhich part of that is underestimating the pound?

  121. goonster says:

Rico laccazette to bench theo?? Really?? Theo ll score a 100 goals in Ligue un 😀 the amount if space he ll be afforded in that league ll put him in ronaldo’s class

  122. rico says:

🙂 Goonie, that’s the first time I’ve seen him play and on that performance, a big fat no from me. Theo any day of the week…..

  123. Joe says:

After today Rico do you want to spend the kind of money to get Lacazette I wasn’t impressed bur hell it was only a friendly.

  124. Gunnerdna says:

Joe 8:12, the same fans who thought WS was a world class GK. Coq has done a very good job playing in a limited role complemented by SC, competition for place will do him no harm. Good better best?

  125. goonster says:

Dna we did it effectively at the wastelands and old bog. Keep everyone displined and in our own half. Play keep ball. Frustrate the cnuts till they run out of ideas. Gung ho approach against top teams don’t cut it anymore.

  126. tsgh says:

Goonie- you think I am never happy?

Rico- I stated we are reliant on Ramsey making late runs into the box fom midfield; if you think I am wrong fair call.

I am consistent in my views; when we are on song we are world betters; its the 10 to 15 or so games that we play side-ways passes needing that Pires or Ljunberg late runs that we are missing… imho

  127. Rick says:

Kev your 8.22 For the last 2yearsI have been telling everyone who would listern to me
just how good Bellerin Akpom Hayden and Niles are. I think the poor results are due to the wrong type of coaching.

  128. tsgh says:

flipping heck goonie- you and I know you can’t compare the technical level of the EPL to ligue 1 even today…
You can’t make draw tht conclusion from Alexandre’s performance from today. imo
Yes. The EPL is exciting but technically….

Dna- I know Di Maria is quality. I am not questioning that. my point is

  129. rico says:

    I listened Rick….. Always…

I’m going to leave you lot to chat nicely, I’m off….

As for Adam being the boss, if only eh, then I could retire…..

    Night all…..

  130. tsgh says:

Our midfield is very good when we are playing 1 game a week. pack 3 games in 7 days and we go toothless…and its got nothing to do with a replacement for Arteta or Le Coq.

I am not being negative contrary to what folks might believe. when things are going bad I always back the team.

I just believe the best time to make an honest assessment of any team or in any group environment is when things are going well.
When one criticizes when the chips are down the weaker heads may not take it well.

  131. Joe says:

Dna i cant argue with more competition will make players better but I am not sure Arsenal will spend the money needed to get a player as good as Coq (assuming he plays as well or gets better next season).

  132. Gunnerdna says:

Ts, fair enough. I have re-watch the games and i think AFC should improve the MF. I read some blogs and see fans saying they wouldn’t want Vidal, because Arsenal have this that and the third, when there is not 1 midfielder at AFC to compare to him. lol. Arsenal need a player in MF who is in their prime/big game player.

  133. Gunnerdna says:

Joe-(assuming he plays as well or gets better next season). What would be your contingency plan if that doesn’t happen, and please don’t mention Arteta.

  134. tsgh says:

Joe- Our squad is very good. but it is one dimensional imho…

We need some variety in the team. AS17 has made a huge change. Vidal would have made another change.

Olivier Giroud chance conversion (excl penalties)

    2012-13 13%
    2013-14 17%
    2014-15 24%

Karim Benzema Chance conversion excl pens

    09/10 17%
    10/11 21%
    11/12 26%
    12/13 22%
    13/14 19%
    14/15 26%

Note, Theo Whas averaged 16 Premier League starts per season over the last eight seasons.18 starts per season over the last five. Are we to rely on him…?

  135. Gunnerdna says:

Tony Fucking Puberty – “Diaby came in, he had his medical yesterday. We’ve made him an offer and we shall see,” Pulis said after West Brom’s 4-1 pre-season win at Swindon on Saturday.

“The big thing with Abou is getting him fit and having the confidence from the medical team to do that. He is a top player and I mean he is a top, top player.

“We’ve had a look and we think there are things he can do to improve his chances of playing 30 Premier League games and we’re confident we can help him do that. Whether he accepts that and the ethos of the football club we’ll wait and see.” LOOLL

  136. Joe says:

OK how about Wilshire he does the job for England or Ramsey but the way coq is playing in pre-season I’d believe he will play well.
I think he will still get cover but it won’t be a big money signing it could even be a loan signing.

  137. Gunnerdna says:

Joe – AW on where Wilshere fits in…

“I personally see him in a creative, offensive position. It can be on the flank, it can be through the middle but for me he’s a creator in the final third”. Yo got no plan bro.

  138. Joe says:

Benzema would be a great signing but will Real sell him does he want to come to us and how about other teams interest in him.

  139. Gunnerdna says:

Ramsey is not disciplined or intelligent enough to play DM for a title winning team.

Aaron Ramsey – “I think a top-class midfielder needs to be able to tackle, get up and down the pitch, pass, create opportunities and score goals,” Ramsey tells Bleacher Report, when asked how he evaluates his performances on a weekly basis. “That’s why I try to do everything, that’s what I judge my game on.

“If you look at someone like Steven Gerrard, he combines all of those elements. That’s what I want to [emulate]… so that’s what I base my game on.”

  140. Joe says:

Yep but he has played the DM in England’s last 3-4 games also I know you said don’t mention Arteta but he is a Arsenal player who has played DM for us 3 seasons.

  141. allezkev says:

Reports doing the rounds that Theo has agreed a 4 year deal, making him one of the top earners at Arsenal…

So now, let’s see him deliver, after all the years of promise…

  142. Wavy says:

He will Kev wait and see. He will become the ultimate Arsenal leg end! And he will be a snip, only £120.000 a week. After all it’s what we all earn per week be we teachers, social workers, cabbies or labourers! He’ll just turn out to be Mr Average!
And I really am a fan of nearly still young Theo.

  143. allezkev says:

Yeah Wavy, I know, but I do like our nice new gold shirts…

    2001-02 revisited perhaps? 😉

  144. scottfromoz says:

    DNA, you’ll never change.
Same crap as always…nobody is good enough to play for Arsenal, unless they’re NOT playing at Arsenal.
You have made it abundantly clear how much you love/hate the club.
Wenger…..well, thank goodness he hasn’t fallen asleep and NOT waken up, as you so diplomatically suggested should be his fate.
    Rico, WHY???

  145. Tai says:

    Morning all…

Scot, sometimes one wonders what our club would have been like if fans got their way…

Assuming Wenger had bought Coquelin last January with 25m…and he gave exactly same performance, would anyone be asking for a DM? Don’t think so.

My opinion on Coq…he may not be the best DM in the world but at 24 he’s definitely a great one and will only get better. He has no record of long-term injuries.

Wenger is trying to see what his team will look like in the absence of Coq…He definitely wont start today…and I’ve seen Carzola cover for Coq against Everton in Singapore…that was against a very combative EPL side and we didn’t miss Coq…

I think we’re good in midfield and attack…If I was in charge, I’d look for a monster of a CB…I have this spooky feeling Per will be the weak link this season! And without the deputy captain…every other CB in our fold stands at 6 feet or thereabout.

  146. rico says:

Morning Kev, Wavy, Scott, Tai and all..

I’d still hope for a DM Tai, and the money spent on a player makes no difference to me….

  147. Tai says:

Well Rico, neither does it to me…but days ago, we were all debating on Giroud’s reported 130k-a-week new deal.

If Ozil was bought for 10m say, I’m almost certain he’d have lost his place in the team by now…we just recently started seeing the real stuff of that huge money splashed to get the German.

And my believing we don’t need any midfielder or striker is a matter of opinion.

  148. Lee says:

To compete we need another DM and a striker….Martinez, Krychowiak, Kramer, Benzema or Lewandoski. Two of them and we’re set to go….

  149. Adam says:

Morning Rico, Brudder, Tai and all. I tend to agree with Lee. Perhaps our needs don’t seem that pressing during what has been a comfortable pre-season but, in the White Heat of battle, things will happen. Quality overload is a wonderful contingency.

  150. rico says:

A players wage and transfer fee are quite different though..

Had Ozil cost £10 million, why would that mean he’d have lost his place by now as he’s world class..

And yes Tai, I know that’s your opinion, I was merely saying that I hope we sign a midfielder as that’s my opinion, I think Arteta will be the weak link if he has to replace Coquelin.

  151. Tai says:

Unless we’re saying Coquelin is not good enough…but I don’t believe we actually need a step-up after what the lad displayed half of last season…hard work and good performance should be rewarded and the French deserves no less.

Amongst Arteta, Flamini(if he’s staying), Ramsey, Wilshere, Carzola…Wenger must find the perfect cover for Coq when he’s not there.

Striker? If this Arsenal team can’t win the title with the strikers/attacking players we have…then probably only Messi or Ronaldo can make that difference!

  152. Tai says:

And believe me, if Carzola was signed for 40m, say…he would have been given the due respect his performances for Arsenal deserve. In an Arsenal shirt, Carzola should be counted world class ahead of Ozil…

Players signing fees attach much importance to his rating…stupidly, I must add.

  153. Adam says:

Hope for the best but plan for the worst.
As the season unwinds it will be the teams with options that flourish. As far as I can see we have only one real central striking option. Yes, I know Theo can operate there, as can Danny. But, if you have the money, why not supplement that position with the sort of player that can create something out of very little?
Rico. I used to be a fly on the wall at my last job.

  154. rico says:

I don’t get that about Santi Tai, most people on here rate him highly, I know I do and again, why would his status be considered higher just because he didn’t cost £40 million?

Same with Coquelin, apart form Ts, everyone here has been full of praise for him since he returned but he can’t go an entire season playing every game and the options after him are merely ‘making do’ imo. Ramsey andJack are more offensive players imo…

  155. Tai says:

Well, I’ve always been skeptical whenever it’s improving a squad…when you get a Lewandoski, who perhaps is a better finisher than Giroud, even though he’s yet to prove that in EPL…Falcao is a big flop so far. But let’s say Lewandoski performs credibly…that means Giroud, who becomes second choice, immediately drops in performance…he will no longer operate with that confidence and it becomes robbing Peter to pay Paul…every team operates with a first choice striker.

And I think since Giroud’s signing, Wenger has been building a team that will play off Giroud for most of the goals…Sanchez, Walcott, Ramsey, Carzola, Ozil…are all players that should benefit from Giroud’s strenghts of holding up play and making slick passes to players all around him within the box. In this regard, I’m yet to see a better player than Giroud for Arsenal.

  156. eduardo says:

adam, Welbeck is a central striker,(one who can play wide, not the other way round) in fact he is leading scoring in Euro 2016 qualifying

Also who do you suggest are “the sort of player that can create something out of very little” that would be ideal for Arsenal, as I don’t see many of them out there and those that are already play for massive clubs, and the clubs seem to have little will and even less reason to sell such a player. Real, Barca and Bayern are all richer, and more successful than Arsenal, all have a higher pay scale than us, so who do you suggest we go for.

  157. ScottfromOz says:

My opinion is if Giroud cost 25 million, he’d be rated more highly by plenty of Gooners.
Equally, if Wenger was on 2 million a year, he’d have much less pressure on him from fans.
If Ramsey was English, Micko would adore him 🙂 🙂 🙂

  158. ScottfromOz says:

Tai, my dad knows stuff all about football.
In the last two years or so, he’s started watching plenty of Arsenal games.
Through my conversations, he’s up to speed on who is and isn’t loved by fans.
Why is Giroud rated so poorly is his favourite question.
As I stated a few minutes ago…..imo it’s because he cost bugger all.

  159. Tai says:

My only worry in the striking department is Welbeck…to me he performed creditably till that injury…he’s the inform Three Lions striker and at 24…his performance graph should be upwards.

He’s not been involved in pre-season…and he’s the player we’re missing!

  160. Adam says:

eduardo.. From what I have seen Danny is a more effective player coming from wide. He seems less effective with his back to goal to me. I never made any suggestion as far as who might work as an alternative to Giroud. I leave that to Arsene as he knows the market.

  161. eduardo says:

rico why can’t Coqeulin play all our game this season, I don’t think he is known for missing a lot of game through injury, he played last season with a broken nose so he is not a soft touch, and he aint a kid, he is 24 so physically he should be up to it, Matic only missed 2 games in BPL and CL for CFC last season, until last season Arteta missed very few games, surely he can’t be dismissed as an option for any games Coq might be rested for, in the past Gilberto rarely missed a game for us. I would also say that we should not need Coquelin for all games, do we really need an out and out DM against the lesser teams who will come and park the bus at the Emirates, will we not be better off with two of Ramsey/Wilshere/Cazorla/Ox in the middle, we seen against Everton last week that there is not always a need for a DM, I would expect that today Coquelin will not start.

  162. Adam says:

They tried Rico, but the sticky secretion that flowed from my feet and the fact that my reflexes operated in a different time domain meant I outwitted them every time. 🙂

  163. Tai says:

Then I need to know your dad, Scot…he’d be huge fun to discuss Arsenal with…Giroud is the most underrated player by Arsenal fans.

  164. goonster says:

Morning good people and till smiling 😀 as a matter of fact I slept with a smile on my face. I probably freaked brianna out cause she kept looking. That iwobi’s goal was football porn 😀 bring on the season 😀

  165. eduardo says:

so Adam you will leave it to wenger, as he knows the market, so can we assume that if he decides there is no one available in the market good enough you will not complain about it,

I would also say that there are very few strikers out there as good as Giroud with his back to goal, Benzema and Lewandowski are not as good, especially Benzema and for me Lew seems to thrive on counter attack goals, yet most seem to be calling for one or other of those to be signed.

It is a worry that Welbeck has missed pre-season and has been injured for four months now, with an injury that was expected to be very short term (bruised bone in his knee), but even without Welbeck we have Giroud, Walcott and Alexis who all score goals as a central striker. the grass is not always greener.

  166. goonster says:

Hey tai I know you guys have huge hopes for iwobi but o wished he had picked England. He ll better off. Did you think JJ okocha played any part in his decision?

  167. Tai says:

Goonster…I love Ozil…he’s class but check Carzola’s seasons with us so far…has any other player in the EPL bettered his contributions in the middle? Don’t think so…Carzola is not fully appreciated by the football world.

For me, I’d choose Carzola over Fabregas…

  168. goonster says:

I love santi. Am one of his biggest fans but you gotta admit that ozil is miles ahead. Ozil sees a pass even before he gets the ball. This season he ll be amazing. See how he’s bursting a gut to get into the box to score goals? In his Bremen days he had goals in him then he moved to madrid and rhat dwarf changed his style and made him play and extra pass so ronaldo could get all the goals. Ozil is in the ronaldo messi league and he ll prove it this season bar any injury.

  169. Tai says:

Goonster…sorry about Iwobi…certainly Jay Jay might have influenced his decision…I hope he becomes great for both club and country. Since Kanu left, Nigerian Arsenal fans, who are extremely passionate, have been hoping for another of theirs in their darling team to no avail…we all hope Iwobi brings this new joy now that our darling Arsenal is on the upward plane again!

  170. goonster says:

Forgive my typing guys. I have my child on one arm while I type with the other.please bear with me

  171. Gunnerdna says:

I like the optimism, but the harsh reality is Arsenal is 60-70 mil away from a realistic EPL challenge, without a upgrade in MF and CF its fallacy. The quality and experience will cost top dollar that’s where football is at the moment.

AW – “Will we win the title this season? You cannot guarantee that in the Premier League. I just say we want to. I promise we will fight to win. A manager has to take the best potential out of the team he has. At the end of the day I know where the team can be at the end of the season. Have I got the maximum? I know if I could have won the league.
“For example, the year we lost it at Birmingham [in 2008 when Eduardo broke his leg], we could have. Last year, no, because after six games we were 11 points behind Chelsea. We feel we have a chance this year, all going well.”

  172. goonster says:

This is the ozil I can’t wait to see on England. Folks ll shit themselves. This guy is not your run off the mill footballer he’s the shit guys. Ozil is the closest thing I ve seen to zizou/bergy and trust me those were my two all time players ever 😀 I love this guy. Go on mesut 😀 make me proud.

  173. joe says:

Morning all at the house, I agree with Tai as I pointed out last night Arteta is still an Arsenal player and can cover for Coq
In fact I feel Arsenal would be better with Arteta in the team playing against bus parking teams teams
But that’s Wenger’s job to sought out and the fans confidence that he can do it will depend on whether they want him to stay or go.
