One of you must know…..

Onto the football stuff, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has hit back at that buffoon Roy Keane who suggested that our players are too interested in their own bodies and ‘selfies’ than winning.

It’s a new era, isn’t it? Some people do it, some don’t. But we’re serious about winning trophies.

We’ve been serious every single year I’ve been at the club about winning trophies. You can see that on the pitch, throughout the season.

A lot of people don’t see when we lose, and go through tough times, how upset and disappointed we are. We’ve always wanted to win silverware and in the last years we’ve won a few. This season we want to go that one better.

He’s right, we live in a ‘selfie’ world, a social media world where football players all over the world use it to be ‘in touch’ with their fans, especially the younger generation although Lukas Podolski, who’s getting on a bit these days, loved telling the world via instagram, or whatever it’s called, what he was up to. Mind you, he had a good teacher in Frimpong!

It’s 2015 Keane, get with it!

Mourinho has been at it again this morning. Sky Sports have some new thing called 92 live where reporters are travelling around the country and dropping in on the early morning goings on. One of the clubs was Chelsea and there stood that smug little man. Jim White asked him which clubs would be a threat to Chelsea retaining the PL crown and he named many, even the Totts but failed to mention Arsenal. White mentioned us being a challenge, no comment from the Portuguese pygmy!

Things like that should give our boys just a little more motivation this season to finally get that PL trophy back in our cabinet…

Martin Keown reckons the fued between Wenger and Mourinho has gone too far and believes it’s time for the LMA to get involved and sort things out once and for all:

At the end of the day it is about respect. I hope the LMA chairman Richard Bevan gets these two guys together and they shake hands.

We had a good game and at the end it was spoilt because they didn’t shake hands.

It’ll never work, not all the time Mourinho pokes his nose into Arsenal’s affairs…..

Transfer gossip:

Apparently, Arsene Wenger is keen to sign Roma defender Alessio Romagnoli who looked like he was on his way to AC Milan but talks broke down and that deal is off. £25 million is the valuation Roma have for their player according to TalkSport.

The Telegraph report that Real Madrid have already begun choosing their replacements for Karim Benzema, leaving him clear to sign for Arsenal for £46m.

However,  Rafa Benitez was asked about the players future yesterday and his reply was:

My answer is that I think Benzema is going to stay with us. I’m very happy with him.

Good, £46 million is a ridiculous amount for player his age.

I’m one of a few who hope we don’t sign him anyway…..

A central midfielder is top of my wish list. Just in case you didn’t know…..

Have a great day guys and gals….

    Good Morning Lovelies and hunkies.

Good one boss. Can you email the first part to KEane??? 🙂

I dont want Benzema at that price either. Not more than 20 million for him.

Romagnoli is a different matter altogether.

  2. bumba11 says:

    Good post Rico.

I’s personally be happy with Benzema, but this is silly money, surely for that we could test Bayerns resolve over Lewandowski?

Agree though that a CDM is the most important position we should be looking at.

Never seen Romagnoli play, so I cannot offer an opinion….is he worth the money?

    Morning all.
Another stimulating column. A few things to nibble at there. I’ll just have a little bite!

Benzema, apart from the fact that he’s not for me, I believe he is not for Arsenal, either. If he moves anywhere it will be to the old toilet. They are well short of credible strikers and the gossip columns and pundits are all saying they need a ‘big signing’! I mean, who else is there?

I seriously believe that Wenger thinks he ‘has enough’.. Our spending is effectively over and we will ‘go with what we’ve got’. And strangely enough I think he may be right. Why spunk a load of cash up the wall when you are probably not buy any player who is better than you already have?

    One bite to nil!

Good morning Rico and the house.

I pride myself on my geography, so this should be errrr haven’t got a clue. Nice quiz though.

I am no fan of Mourinho but I do like characters in the game. I get far more pleasure out of beating Mourinho (it’s been a while) than some of the boring managers

  5. potter says:

Re :- The Ox , why should he take seriously anything said by a mid life crisis Irishman that spent a year trying to audition for ZZ Top.

  6. Hell Raising Devil says:

Romagnoli is a polished defender. One who passes and dribbles his way out of trouble. He plays a sensible ball to those in front of him, but is not afraid to hoof it to safety. He has been likened to Cannavaro and Nesta. But I feel he is more a Baresi type. An organizer at the back.

But imo we already have Gabriel and Chambers as back up to Per and Kos. And they are good. Very good. So why get ourselves a fifth CB

Why not a midfielder? Seeing that Jack Weelshair is already goint to be out for three weeks which in Wengerian terms may translate anything up till Christmas.

  7. Naz says:

Surely, surely…….we need another DM, one sight of Arteta coming on signified that!
There is no way Jack can replace or cover for Coquelin – particularly if he’s horizontal for most of the season…

  8. potter says:

Your secondary clue leads me to believe that it must be in Catalonia somewhere albeit had I seen it i would remember. The bar is next to a garage and Carosserie is bodywork in French I believe. However the licence number on the car I don’t recognise. So you have me . I give up. And my wife says that the sun’s out , there’s work in the garden and that I have spent too much time on the computer already.
    So see you later.

  9. goonster says:

Morning good people still smiling 😀 winning breeds more winning. Friendly or not it’s still a trophy. When Gerald houlier(spelling ) won 5 titles in 2003 (can’t remember now ) the charity shield was listed among them. So fuck off doomers.

  10. Dublingunner says:

Have the pics got a “french connection”. I can,t say how disappointed i am to hear Wilshere,s injury is worse than first thought, you have to fear, he,s career could be plagued by injuries

  11. rico says:

No Goonie.. Spot on re winning trophies, no matter how big or small they are.. But now let’s go and get the big one, the PL!

In fact no again to you all..

A family member is in Mauritius at the moment and visited the village and sent me the photo’s so I just thought it would be something different for the day… Glad you liked it too…

  14. goonster says:

Gee rico i knew it was Mauritania I was just humoring you. Everyone knows arsenal village in Mauritania. Sheesh 😀

  15. rico says:

Yeah right Goonie, if you think I believe that then…….

Hope Akpom has a great season, and all the others who have gone on loan…. Just hope they get plenty of playing time…

  16. eduardo says:

on Arsenal.com Zelalem and Bielik have been removed from the first team squad list, they are back listed with the youths, Iwobi and Rene-Adelaide also listed with the Academy players.

  17. Dublingunner says:

Love those teasers rico, I new with the DB it couldn,t be Dublin, we,ve white plates. well done w.wkan.
read this quote yesterday somewhere, made me smile, said by the great Marco van basten
“Arsenal play the best football in England. Chelsea and Manchester City will never have that class and style.”

  18. eduardo says:

Arsenal have 8 players out on loan so far.

Szczesny, Jenkinson, Hayden, Maitland-Niles, Toral, Crowley, Akpom, Sanogo

  19. Dublingunner says:

That team along with bielik, iwobi, adelaide and zelalem, would finish above Spurs in the premier league

  20. goonster says:

Ts zelalem is the shit. I won’t be suprised if he gets snapped up soon. At this rate he won’t make it into our first team anytime soon. I feel for the lad. Him toral and a bunch of other wunderkinds unfortunately ll be moved on but trust me he’s going to kill it in the future. What a player .

  21. eduardo says:

jose failed to turn up at the annual pre season get together of BPL managers at the FA, where they are briefed on any changes to the playing rules etc. No one from cfc turned up. They must be confident that they have enough refs bought that any change to the rules won’t apply to them. Well that and jose was afraid he’d have to shake hands.

  22. allezkev says:

    Night Rico….

Btw Rico, I’ve just booked a long weekend in Damascus for you…

Don’t forget the sun block, swimming cosie and the body armour… 😉

  23. george says:

    Evening all…nice post Rico..

The dwarf is in Liverpool trying to nab Stones off Everton Eduardo ..

Hope Akpom smashes a good 15 + at hull . Steve Bruce will play both of our lads …my only fear is if hull don’t start bright, their bonkers chairman will sack him.

    Great seeing Spurs lose…

Can’t wait for the hammers opener…they look a mess at the moment and struggled to get past the might Maltese in the Europa

As for Benzema, err, no thanks. I say give Walcott till Xmas …never know, we still have Joel Campbell on our books…he could do a job..

  24. Adam says:

    Morning Rico and all.
It seems strange to me how Wenger is copping a lot of stick in the media over avoiding Mourinho’s ‘staged’ little game on Sunday. The Mirror’s John Cross, a moron of the highest order, accuses both of them of “dragging football through the mud”. What has Wenger actually done? Was it he who kicked off in press conferences or has spent his time insulting other clubs? I don’t think so. Who, in their right mind, would willingly mug himself by trying to shake that little prick’s hand when everyone knows that he would have made something out of it by some revoltingly insulting and churlish behaviour? Wenger saw all this happening as the team were coming down the steps and avoided it. What’s the problem with that?
Surely Abramovich must be embarrassed at the tiny, grotesque slimeball and his pathetic little games.

  25. Lee says:

I would of shook his hand, pulled him towards me and then dropped the swede on to the bridge of his nose!! “Excuse moi, I must of slipped!”

  26. Adam says:

Morning Kev. I doubt I could construct a balanced piece mate. Mourinho brings out the worst in me. It’s the sycophancy of people like Cross that I personally find so offensive.
Judge the man by his actions rather than his words. Think on this and it becomes apparent just what an abomination of a human-being Mourinho really is. Whether there is any UK-based journalist prepared to scream that the Empeoro not only doesn’t have clothes but that he is also dripping with fetid filth, is another matter.

  27. tsgh says:

Rico- so far as the flight is not on an Hercules C-130J and you are coming with me.. 😉

JC- interestingly has changed his tune about AW in recent weeks. He has have been given ine less biscuit on his last visit to colney
