Pointless, farcical and a waste of space! Hard to disagree?

Morning all.

As Mesut Ozil enjoys a break from international duty thanks to Joachim Löw applying some common sense, Chris Coleman, the manager of Wales carries on with his pointless and petty comments about his selection for Wales. This all stems from Arsene Wenger’s comments on why Aaron Ramsey suffered injury:

Maybe he was overloaded a little bit with games.

Ideally, neither he nor Gareth Bale should have played against Andorra.

I’m with Arsene here, ideally, Aaron Ramsey wouldn’t have played in both fixtures for his country back in October but Wales don’t have a huge number of players to choose from and as they were so desperate to qualify for the Euros for the first time in years, Coleman had little choice but to select two of his best players.

But, one could argue that ideally, Aaron Ramsey wouldn’t have played as many games for Arsenal on the trot, ideally, Arsenal would have a deep enough squad for him not to have done so, but that isn’t the case. Just as Ramsey is one of the better Welsh players, he’s not been bad for his club has he and like Coleman, Arsene Wenger has little other choice but to play him.

Not just him either. Coquelin, Ozil, Alexis, Cazorla, Koscielny, Monreal, Bellerin….. etc etc, all who when fit, start because the manager has little to no other choice.

I really don’t understand why this latest break is taking place anyway. The Euro qualifiers are done and dusted, apart from the play-offs and I’m sure international managers know who they’ll be taking to the competition next summer, fitness and form permitting, so what’s the point?

The Premier League together with all the other domestic campaigns around the world are in full swing and here in England, we are soon to enter a very hectic but exciting festive period of fixtures so why do players need to be adding vast amounts of travel time to their already busy schedule?

Yesterday, Chris Coleman’s said:

We shouldn’t be looked at as a vehicle for players to get rest. We’re here to do a job. I’ll rest a player if he’s had a knock, he’s in danger of something happening if he’s fatigued.

I don’t think it’s for anyone else to say who we should be picking and why. As long as we send players back in a fit and healthy state – which 99 times out of 100 we do – it’s not for anyone to suggest who international managers pick.

If it was reversed, I don’t think they’d like us to be saying that to them. It shouldn’t work like that.

What a daft thing to say. International managers will never have a say in who a club manager plays or not and that’s because it’s their club who pays their wages, not their country!

Perhaps Arsene Wenger needs to be a bit more devious and stop his players from representing their respective countries during breaks like this one where there’s nothing at stake. Other mangers have done that in the past and are still doing it now so why not join them?

Even Tony Pulis and Garry Monk think this latest break is ‘pointless, farcical and a waste of space’…..

I agree with them. Now there’s a first.

Can you tell I’m struggling? 😉

Have a good Friday guys, don’t forget it’s the 13th so no walking under ladders…..

Yet another chance to pick up a few completely avoidable injuries. Why not forget all this International crap and have a couple of weeks off at Christmas?

The festive period , when people lived near their home grounds and local derbies were arranged to enable fans to go to matches without disrupting their family festivities too much.
Look at this year though. 21/12 home to Man city
    26/12 away Southampton
    28/12 home Bournemouth
    02 /1 home to Newcastle

We actually come out of it quite well but what of Newcastle fans having to travel the length of the country just after New year celebrations and our own boys having to get back from Southampton on Boxing day with all of the train cancellations.

I am with Adam if they can’t organise things properly then don’t bother and lets not have the spouses moaning because their Christmas is broken up by their partner missing for the whole day.

lets face it Spurs , West Ham , Crystal Palace , Watford and Chelsea, plenty of teams to set up and play over Christmas and Easter.:- Bank holidays should be for local derbies

    Here, here Potter.
    Or is it:
    Hear, hear?
FA equals the antonym of the phrase, common sense!
    Or,
Do the Premier League arrange the fixtures? Or could it be SKY TV?

In any event you have the right idea whilst the overseers and guardians of our game are actually, clueless.

Afternoon everybody. The sun has just retired for the day!

    Evening Rico and the house

Hi micko, not sure about tonight, a lot of injuries and suspensions
I would take a draw right now

  5. Micko says:

Struggling rico, only 41 more posts till Christmas.

C’mon Ireland, don’t hear Martin O’Neil moaning about injuries like some managers !

  6. rico says:

Potter, couldn’t agree more re The Boxing Day fixture. It makes so much sense, there’s no way the FA would make sure that happened and if they did, they’d be accused of fixing the fixtures… Lol

Evening, busy old day here then…. 😉

Brudder, I really can’t believe that world beater Sanogo missed an easy chance!!!

I think the De Boer quote on him speaks volume…..

  8. Micko says:

Malaga, gotta be happy with a 1-1 draw, all to play for Monday.

A world of hurt for so many families in Paris tonite, truly awful ! Cold blooded murdering cowards pretty much sums them scumbags up.

  9. rico says:

This world is fast becoming a horrid place..

RIP those who had their lives taken so cowardly last night, may their families somehow find strength. Paris too, and France, goodness knows how they’ll get over such evil and unnecessary killings….

  10. Adam says:

Don’t Rico. I have often thought that on my frequent visits into Soho and the west end. The underground can be a freaky place. It is choc full of weirdos.

    Morning all.
All day I’ve had to endure the ranting and raving of people who I’ve know for years showing their true colours.
    Remove all Muslims form Australia.
    All Muslims are evil.
    Blah blah blah.
    It’s very sobering.
Still, that’s a very small price to pay considering what hundreds have gone through and are still going through.
This world is constantly changing, and not for the better.

  12. Allan Michaud says:

Something you didn’t mention, Wales qualified in the first game and didn’t need to play Ramsey or Bale in the second game. Personally I think they would have been better served by giving time to other players to get experience.
These friendly’s are a waste of time, but as far the UK is concerned we need to get rid of the League (Carling) Cup for the EPL teams. The trouble is that won’t happen as the League and the FA both want to keep their own cups. Domestically our teams have the potential to play 50 league and cup games, compared to 40 for the Germans, 47 in Spain and 44 in Italy.

    That was some Friday 13th!

Terrible goings on, my heart goes out to the victims and all their families!!!

I was booked to go to Paris on 20th to visit clients, feel really shell shocked by it all. As someone said it’ll be London next, handy that when I work there!

Any ways enough of giving these cnuts any publicity, it’s a football blog!! Up The Arsenal….

  14. Joe says:

I hope the perpetrators of last night’s murders in Paris find hell to their liking.
