Podolski or Rosicky to make way? Sanchez to upstage Puma, or will we have to wait?

Morning all.

So today is the big day as far as our new kit manufacturer is concerned. Of course it’s a big day for Arsenal too as with Puma, comes big money and we are soon to reap the rewards it seems.

But would Puma want to be upstaged by the club announcing the signings of Alexis Sanchez ย and Mathieu Debuchy?

My own view is they wouldn’t as this is their big moment, they want the world of football to see the name Puma, nothing more, nothing less so perhaps we will have to wait another day or too to finally hear the news we are all desperately waiting for.

Not only that, there is suggestion that Barcelona are faffing around with the Suarez deal and that’s holding up things for us. Not sure why their dealings with Liverpool would have any influence on us signing Sanchez as they clearly need the money to get their deal done. Delaying the Sanchez deal doesn’t make sense to me.

Of course, I could be very wrong about Puma, they may just love the idea of Arsenal presenting the new kit along with a world class signing which if the case, our much expected new arrival could fly in today and get his medical done and dusted, as could Debuchy of course.

I kind of feel sorry for Mathieu Debuchy. A move to us is a huge step up in his career and I bet he can’t wait to get his situation sorted out and stuck into training with his team-mates, but his move will be slightly overshadowed by the Chilean. Who am I kidding, slightly overshadowed??

But the signing of the Frenchman is a key one and hopefully he’ll slot in well and the departure of Bacary Sagna will be long forgotten….

Talking of the defence, rumour is that there’s been a change of number for Kieran Gibbs, he will now wear number 3 on his back and one can only assume, Debuchy will be given the number 2 shirt.

I wonder what number Sanchez will wear, at Barca he had the number 9, for Chile it’s number 7 but both of those numbers are taken by Podolski and Rosicky.

I doubt either will give up their number, do you??

That’s it, have a great day all. I’m not staying up until 11pm just to see a big black cat make an appearance……

    Morning Rico.

Good post. But I dont think that Podolski will vacant his shirt while TR07 will surely not allow it to be taken.

  2. rogerbij says:

When TR is not playing every week I think he can expect to be giving up that 7 for AS. 1-11 is for your regular first team. Love TR but because of his age now he cant expect to be regular first team. I doubt it would worry him.

  3. Wath says:

    Morning you lot…..

Maybe “S” has a number that is psecial to him that he will want for his shirt… 150 maybe… Bit like the Bendtner 52…?

  4. rogerbij says:

Sorry forgot to say good morning, probably because after last night doesnt feel like a good morning. Oh dutchies…

  5. Nickie says:

    Morning all,

    Nice Post…

I’ve heard a deal(s) to be announced Friday. Just Puma tonight.

I do not want Sanchez in the cursed 18/23 shirts! lol

    How dya feel Stanley….

  6. Gonerjoe says:

Not excited about this less and less top secret kit launch today but I’ve let myself get caught up in all this transfer merry go round.
You know the story will the club have some new players at the stadium for the launch.
Why oh why did I let this happen?

  7. Wavy says:

The delay on the ‘S’ signing is mysterious. Why would Barca hold it up? They are skint, in dispute with UEFA, they need cash through the doors to pay for gnasher and so they can ‘balance’ their books! Or are they waiting for another bid greater than the one they have already negotiated with us? Nothing would surprise me where that unethical club is concerned!
Please let him sign soon the delay is playing havoc with my bowels!

    Morning all, another nice one!

  8. AJ says:

I think it would be a massive mistake if Puma pass up an opportunity to align new signings to their sponsorship launch.

What has been the big negative around Arsenal for years now? It has been lack of investment in the squad.

What is supposed to be the big benefit of the Puma alliance? Greater investment in the squad.

We have known about the Puma deal for months. So, if Puma have their launch and there are no new signings, it is going to be huge anti-climax, particularly since all our main rivals have already made signings.

Why would Puma want the start of their relationship with Arsenal to be shrouded in negativity.

I think they would be mad not to introduce Sanchez today, if that is possible.

  9. frednerk says:

    Morning All,
Arsenal never use the No:13 shirt………… how about that then oops
sounds a bit sir jimmy sorry.
Anyway Michael Ballack always wore that No: for most of his clubs.

  10. Nickie says:

Scenario….Kit launch tonight. New Puma shirt.

No one is going to Officially be announced before this period are they?

They can’t hold the new kit up can they. And holding up last years Nike kit is a big no no. Bit of logic…..Signings will be announced after kit launch so they can hold up their new sparkly shirts

  11. Hell Raising Devil says:

Goon alert!!! Goon alert!!! Goon alert!!! Goon alert!!! Goon alert!!! Goon alert!!! Goon alert!!! Goon alert!!!

Lost somewhere in the world. An AFC supporter last seen wearing the Oranje shirt. Be careful. I repeat. Be careful. Especially phillipino women. Phone Rico at HH if you see him.

  12. Hell Raising Devil says:

I hope that wherever Jenks goes he gets playing time and not be stuck on the bench.

How about sending him to Tony Puleeeeesssseee or Mark Hughes. He will soon toughen up.

there was a rumour a few days ago that Theo would change his shirt to 23 and let S have the 14…..

  14. Bawa Bashir O says:

Morning all, what a sad news, that we are not going to see Alexis Sanchez raising up a jersey tonight on puma launch? Oh please Mr. Wenger do something fast.

  15. Wath says:

Maybe Puma will want a signing parading in their new strip but one thing for sure no new signings will be announced before 11pm tonight….! If they unveil the new kit and also then unveil new signings tomorrow Puma get two days of exposure…!

From a marketing point of view they will want to milk the new sponsorship and Kit for as long as possible…!

  16. Wath says:

Can’t see that happening PerryGW… Theo wanted the 14 shirt as TH was his idol….! Can’t see him giving that up at all…!

  17. Sukky says:

Puma today,That’s enough for me but I hate puma body hug kit,its creeping.Sanchez to be announce soon.

  18. Wath says:

    David Ornstein โ€@bbcsport_david 2m
Final Sanchez fee around ยฃ35m, medical later today, not unveiled at kit launch:

  19. Wath says:

I think that’s as concrete as your going to get as Ornstein doesn’t talk shit…!

So 2moro it is for the presser and Alexis in an Arsenal shirt….!

  20. Wath says:

Giroud on loan Brian….. Ain’t happening… you want to send out a 20 goal a season striker on loan…..!?!?!?

  21. Hell Raising Devil says:

that is the dumbest comment I have heard

    Giroud on loan????

Are you on Fifa 14 mate???

  22. Nickie says:

Announcement tomorrow on Sanchez just like I thought tehe….Arsenal “Love a Friday announcement”!

  23. Nickie says:

Why aren’t we in for Caulker as a back up CB, doesn’t seem overly expensive. Solid replacement if anyone is injured

  24. Wath says:

Will Caulker come to play 3rd choice CB Nickie….?

    That’s why I say get Ginter… “IF” TV leaves….!

  25. Wath says:

Nickie, AS could hardly be announce today we don’t officially have a shirt for him to pose with, earliest was only ever going to be at the launch tonight of 2moro…!

  26. Nickie says:

I wouldn’t just say third choice, he is a player who can step up and dislodge one of the current 2. Mert and Kos aren’t getting any younger. To sit in with someone like Arsenal bide your time, put in some solid covering performances and earn the right to sit at the heart of defence. Ginter, he’s a real talent and i’d imagine he’d be more upset to be on the bench?

  27. Mark Zever says:

Yes Aฬ…ฬฒฬถฬฅฬŠmฬ…ฬฒฬถฬฅ back,Sanchez can wear d number 13,Ii just need him banging in goals

  28. Wath says:

    I did read your 11:02…

We were all discussing it the other day as well.. As much as the glamour side says announce a player with kit launch Puma surely want the limelight all to themselves…! To announce signings next few days is also great PR for Puma…! Win win for them……….!

  29. Nickie says:

There are pros and cons to launching a new kit contract with or without a player. I agree with you though Wath. Puma can milk it, Stand alone kit launch Thursday, Sparkly amazing new player holding up new Puma kit Friday. Millions want the shirt over the weekend. Win win for Arsenal also

  30. DanC says:

New big name signing = shit load of Sanchez replica shirts sold

They’ll be missing a trick not parading the new signings tonight for the extra exposure. But it’ll still be good for Puma if they unveil 3 newbies tomorrow rather than tonight. There is no negative involved with any of these scenarios

  31. Wavy says:

    Enter the Prophet of Doom

But what if ‘S’ fails his medical???

Oh my, oh my! What a terrible thought…………..?

  32. Wath says:

    Or Bent…………

Nickie, Agreed mate I think froma puma perspective they want tonight to be about them, then the Armoury re-opens tomorrow and there player signings and if we unveil Sanchez as well at a presser the spin off is huge for Puma Arsenal and sales….! Imagine the Sanchez on shirts they’ll sell over the weekend…!

Dan what ever way they do it if a player only gets announced 2moro then it’s still about the new kit and new player and that’ll last the weekend and into next week if/when they announce Debuchy as well as one or 2 others…!

  33. Zanas10 says:

Oooh, Poldi9 nd TR7 are important player, expecially when we ar figthing 4 top 4. I tink sanchez should wear no 13 of maestreo Hleb or wenger should change Monreal jersey to no 23 nd giv Sanchez no 17

  34. allezkev says:

I was chatting/texting a mate last night, during the Holland/Argie borefest, about Khadira.

The wage demands reported (if true) seemed quite steep, but on reflection, imo, he is a player who can make a difference and I’m sure that Arsenal could devise some imaginative method of satisfying his financial wishes…

Schneiderlin would be a great alternative and I’d have no problem with him, it’s just that I think that Khadira is the better player.
And shouldn’t Arsenal have the best?

  35. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Still no news of Goonie.

I wonder where is he hiding??? I miss him a lot!!!!

our boys tapping up Khedira??? no need. He has Arsenal DNA in him already.

  36. Nickie says:

    Emma,

Maybe they should whisper into his ears “stop being greedy and join the best club in the world” lol

  37. Lee says:

Wath, I suppose Stan’s money is in the post?
I was massively impressed with Khedira the other night but don’t we need a player that’s going to protect the back four more ?
    We’re assembling a bloody good squad…..

  38. Nickie says:

    —-Ram–Khed—-
    Wal—-Ozil—–Sanch
    ——-Giroud———

Each winger supporting Giroud when play is opposite side of pitch…. maaaan

  39. emma says:

    rico – ๐Ÿ˜‰

Nickie – I think the wage demand was speculated by METRO(don’t believe what they spout out in that paper)

  40. Nickie says:

100-110k max I’d go for Khed a week. I always take Metro etc with a pinch of salt Emma ๐Ÿ™‚

  41. tsgh says:

Nickie imo Ramsey and Khedira won’t work in the double pivot with Ozil as the no.10 based on Khedira’s showings when he was played without Alonso and Ramsey’s new enthusiasm going forward.

  42. Nickie says:

Don’t you feel Wenger could keep Khedira’s role more disciplined? The player to sit back? Unless we adopt a “we will score more goals than you” approach. This Khedira move doesn’t make sense based on the position he’s played in the world up.

  43. Nickie says:

I’m all for Schnid but based on the stories it seems Khed is Wenger’s preferred choice. Will be interested to see how he plays it if that’s the case

  44. emma says:

It’s all about discipline for Khedira and Ramsey dovetailing in the double pivot to work. Both will need to understand when to sit when one goes forward

  45. emma says:

ak – I doubt Flamini will have the DM role but rather him a squad player. Wenger did not fancy him towards the latter stages last season and that says a lot.

  46. Hell Raising Devil says:

I am with Kev. Much as I would like to see Khedira at AFC, I feel it will eventually be Flamini in the middle.

  47. tsgh says:

Nickie, Sami attempts less than 2 tackles a game and his tackle ratio is less than 42%. His pass completion is roughly 80%.

Morgan attempts and completes over 4 tackles a game; the highest in EPL over 3 seasons…only RAmsey and Lucas come close followed by MA08 in this league.

Morgans pass completion is over 93% and wins more aerial duels. Morgan got 8 yellows from 33 games… only Ginter and Sven did better than Morgan in the whole Europe…

Before the stats police shoot me down, I know Morgan plays for poor old Southampton but he is far better in all areas plus number of games played per season and distance covered is in the Rmasey, Gattuso and Vidal range … ๐Ÿ˜‰

  48. tsgh says:

We are getting a German but it won’t be Sami imo…
In my opinion Sami is heading to BM with Matinez leaving…

    I.T.K police… ๐Ÿ™‚

  49. allezkev says:

Football is forever evolving and changing.

We’ll probably see, this season, a few more coaches experimenting with three at the back and wing-backs…

And so the def/mid is possibly changing as well.
Therefore you have a more attacking and technical player in that role, as opposed to what we’ve become used to, Gilberto/Petit/Edu/Vieira etc…
    Those were all footballers…
Many clubs have tried to copy that type of player, but usually end up with a kind of mobile fridge-freezer sitting in front of their back-four…

Give me the Arteta type any day…

  50. Nickie says:

    Ts, thanks for that.

Stats do point towards Morgan being the player we need and I’d be very happy with him. He is what we’re missing and Khedira won’t help that.

Having also watched a lot of Southampton last season I am impressed with him. Behind Lallana he is quietly effective

  51. allezkev says:

Emma, one thing that most of us are patently hopeless at is second guessing Arsene’s intentions…

You might be right concerning Flamini.

    Then again?!!’

  52. tsgh says:

Nickie, Khedira has never ever been a DM.

In the WC he played DM against Ghana and what happened? Lahm had to cover him on most occasions. Also in the UCL final the ex-sperds covered his backside tactically. Yes he was coming from injury but when Alonso has said Sami is not a DM…

What Sami offers is that breaking into the box which we lack and will be a perfect foil for Ramsey but he is not clinical enough in terms of goals etc…
Even at VfB 1873 he never played as a DM.

  53. tsgh says:

๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ mobile fridge-freezer you have made my day with that comment. Kev

Pape “Papa” Bouba Diop the walldrobe come to mind.

  54. tsgh says:

Why TR07 plays as a DM for Czech rep?

As Kev says brains in that position matters more…
That is why I have always believed that we need a box to box player more than a DM.

Our issue last season was when Ramsey was injured no one broke into the box…

That was why I mentioned before wc that Italy will be out due to Montolivo missing even with Pirlo, Rossi and Motta in midfield.. all top class midfielders but none offered what Montolivo offers…

  55. Nickie says:

Which makes me wonder, why are we targeting Khedira? I don’t think we lack players that break into the box…Ox, Rosicky, Wilshere, Ramsey. His purchase would be silly.

  56. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Hod carrier

    what next??????

    the cab guide???

  57. tsgh says:

I know Rico will ask me again if I am a coach ๐Ÿ™‚ but I have been talking about how 3-5-2 is the way forward for a while now too… I am sure Dev will second that.

Conte as I said moved to that set-up 2 seasons ago when Oscar made Pirlo look like Denilson against Chelsea…

AW has talked about it and flirted with the idea but he is too stuck with 4 at the back…

Also when you watch fb are not bombing forward for the Argentines and Germans and they are heading into the final. Reason why I am not particularly keen on Debuchy personally.

  58. Hell Raising Devil says:

Debouchy and Gibbs make the 3-5-2 work perfectly imo Ginge

The trick is to have 5 centrebacks then. 3 which play and 2 as backups.

  59. potter says:

    allezkev says:
Football is forever evolving and changing.
Weโ€™ll probably see, this season, a few more coaches experimenting with three at the back and wing-backsโ€ฆ

I have long thought that we are suited to that formation, it would give Vermaelen more playing time and certainly Debuchy and Gibbs are better at going forward than back. With two midfielders in the middle able to go forward and sideways to protect the wings it would give an attacking option which would be hard to counter with Ozil feeding wide and cross over runs. Would like to see us try it.

  60. Nickie says:

with the squad we have and the midfield/attacking options we have, I can’t see us using 3-5-2 for a long time. Although, I am a big fan of it myself

  61. tsgh says:

I think we lack players who are comfortable with their backs to goal in our squad…

I can think of only 4 such players and they are my faves in the squad…

SC19, JW all like ball to feet and give and goes…

When we have 35 minutes to go on the clock in Stoke or Norwich those kind of players can’t push throw a parked bus imo…

Looking at the stats against Stoke,Fulham and you will see who was featured in those when we won apart from the leg break day.

Sami is a very good player but I think he won’t make us solid defensively if fans are looking for a holding/DM …

  62. Nickie says:

Gibbs is very ineffective in the final 3rd though Hell. Debuchy is better defensively which is great but he’s not the attacking full back that suits 3-5-2 imo

  63. tsgh says:

    Exactly Potter/Dev…

Watching Kirt of Holland play left wing back last night wit Blind tuck in was solid..

If you note up until 4 or 5 years ago Gibbs was a winger and Debuchy was a RB with 1 year experience in that position…

  64. tsgh says:

Nickie, our squad with 2 more CB will be perfectly suited to 3-5-2 or 5-3-2…

At Juve- Pogba played RB/fly winger when Isla and Stephan Lichtsteiner were out of form or injured last season.

Pirlo and Marchisio held the 2 CM roles when Vidal was also injured.

Even though Juve were trailing Gervinho’s AS Roma when Vidal was not fit they still managed to beat Roma in the cup with that formation with Rossi, Strootman and Pjanic in the 3 midfield set-up.

  65. Wavy says:

Be masterful or mistressful, show it who’s boss….give it a thoroughly good smack! That’ll sort it!

  66. Nickie says:

If your full backs are on an off day you severely lack width. It all becomes narrow. We have too many quality midfielders/attackers to sacrifice for that formation. Who would miss out?. I would love to see it implemented at Arsenal but I can’t see where the sacrifices are coming from

  67. rogerbij says:

I like 3-5-2 as well (or 3-5-1-1). Thing is I dont want the BFG in the middle of that 3 due to his lack of speed, which is why Kosh is so awesome when paired with him.

  68. Nickie says:

I quite like the thought of Kos-Mert-Verm….2 speedy, technical good heading ball player cbs to compliment a giant anchor who is also great at playing the ball

  69. Rick says:

Nickie, Imho it could be a problem based… but Aw was too confident about his arrival so fingers crossed.

Contrary to what Balague will say Jaws has not been approved by Barca bosses yet?

I was reading a comment RM president Perez said about JAws to Barca move… google translator so don’t know whether it is accurate but he said they could still buy JAws later in summer if the board wanted…

  71. Sukky says:

Debunhy is better defensively?I don’t think so.Can you remember how many shot he had against up last season(home and away),he almost score twice. He will fit perfectly as a wing back but why are we discussing this?Wenger won’t even think of it………I don’t care since we are about to announce ‘S’.

  72. potter says:

If that’s right then TS then Liverpool are getting their auction and a higher price no doubt.

  73. tsgh says:

Roger- In 1990 Germany vs Argentina WC Germany under the Kaizer and Betti Vogts played a similar 3-5-2 but with a no.10 Matthias as the sweeper with Kohler and Klaus Augenthaler on either side of him when they had the ball.

Without the ball Brehme and Thomas Berthold dropping alongside the traditional CB to make it 4 or 5…

It works perfectly when teams are better on the ball like Argentina with Burruchaga, alderon , Simon, Maradona were on the ball then…

  74. tsgh says:

Potter, very true but with the bin-dipers 80M in the red already they will sell for any meaningful fee later on…

Like RM did the sperds… they paid ยฃ25M allegedly upfront and the rest of ยฃ80m will be paid after 6 years… ๐Ÿ˜€

But still the media say Levy is a great negotiator. ๐Ÿ˜›

  75. Nickie says:

Sorry Sukky I have to disagree, All I remember is us completely dominating them at home. At their ground a very boring game of few chances and us taking it 1-0. That’s also two games of a whole season. If you look at stats, he is certainly better defensively

  87. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Hiya Agag.

I hope we sign A as cover up keeper.

Then AW should sign B as cover up RB

C should follow instead of TommyV, while D should be preferred to Monreal.

E should be enough as DM cover for when Diaby goes bed hunting

F should do the trick as inside forward

G should be a good back up to Giroud

H and I can be our wingers

J and K can be our new wingbacks for the 3-5-2 formation

L, M, N, O, P and Q will be the new young ones preferred by Jonker.

R,S,T,U, V,W, X, Y and Z will be the new Freebies preferred by AW.

those are the new codes Agag

Don’t lie Goonie, you promised allegiance to Obama… you have the green card to prove it… ๐Ÿ˜›

  95. tsgh says:

Rule number Xth on HH… don’t say anything bad about Baggio or Inzaghi otherwise, the Devil will have you with his pitch folk. ๐Ÿ˜›

  96. Wath says:

Stan next you’ll be an Argie if the krauts lose…. only $50… plus the 200quid you owe me…!!

  97. tsgh says:

Goonie is from Port Stanley Wath.. where do you think his name Stan came from? ๐Ÿ™‚

Pique the Dna doctor will inform Goonie after sunday’s final… ๐Ÿ™‚

  98. goonster says:

Come to think of it I think my great uncle fled to Argentina after the 2nd world war so hey I could be an argie you know ๐Ÿ˜€

  99. agirlagunner says:

Make a similar rule about Torres, Ginge. ๐Ÿ˜€

DId you also cheer on the yanks, goonie?

  100. Hell Raising Devil says:

If you go to wikipedia and check the stats, you plonk, you will see that Klinsmann and Inzaghi had the same ration of goals per games.

Both at club and international levels.

  101. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Ginge…..Simone Inzaghi was below average.

My favourite is Pippo Inzaghi….the younger of the two.

  102. agirlagunner says:

WATH, looks like goonie’s not gonna pay up. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Tsk.

Next, you’d be Japanese, goonie. ๐Ÿ™‚

  103. Hell Raising Devil says:

Goonie……….I simply would love it if you support Argentina. They will surely loose.

So do us all a favour and find some Argie DNA in your body.

Maybe even a hairy argentinian chimpanzee would do.

  104. tsgh says:

    ๐Ÿ˜€ Agag.

Well I use to think Dev was Italian with his Inzaghi loving when I first stated to read HH…

Dev has talked about Baggio’s penalty more than I have posted stats to say OG12 is a ‘regional’ class striker. ๐Ÿ™‚

  105. tsgh says:

    Goonie, what are you implying?

Your uncle a german fleeing to Argentina? The Hague might be coming after you. ๐Ÿ˜›

  106. Hell Raising Devil says:

aye Ginge. Everyone keeps raising that penalty up that they tend to forget that the reason that the Italians were in the final was due to Baggio and his heroics. That is a miss and a half. but there is more, much more to Baggio than that miss.

  107. AndrewH says:

    From Sky Sports website:

Alexis is understood to have agreed a four-year deal and the fee will be around ยฃ32million, money that Barca will use to buy Luis Suarez from Liverpool

Why cant I stop looking at Sports websites!!! Porn addiction cant be this bad!

  108. Wath says:

AGAG no chance of Stan paying up he’s a bag of wind… even swampies pay up when they lose a bet… Nothing worse than someone who never pays a bet… lowest of the low…!

Shame they didn’t drop him in the hills on a long walk Ts… ๐Ÿ˜‰

  109. tsgh says:

Bondex, Wath is Mr AFC and he wanted Bony so I guess the papers are right for once NOT… ๐Ÿ™‚

  110. Wath says:

I’d of taken Bony along with another striker but he def ain’t a replacement for Suarez, then again he ain’t liable to bite anyone…!

  111. agirlagunner says:

    rico, what happened?

WATH, that is possibly the worst insult you can throw goonie, that he’s worse than a Spud. Lol.

Andrew, haha. The transfer window inevitably means angst. ๐Ÿ˜€

ginge, Isco doesn’t know how to track back; although to be fair, he does score some good goals. I’m not sure he has improved at Madrid, he got such limited playing time.

  112. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Over a 1000 stories of Sanchez in London. Did he arrive as a Ninja? Why no photo of him boarding in Spain or alighting in London?

  113. tsgh says:

I think Bony will be a solid buy for the bin dippers. A very different type of threat…
All jokes aside I am concerned about the International break and Chile always playing in South America unlike Brazil who play friendlies in Europe and some other South Americans who play in Nth and Sth America…

  114. agirlagunner says:

ginge if kabbalah in Hollywood is anything to judge by, I doubt it would help. Some rabid ones out there. ๐Ÿ˜€

  115. Wath says:

That’s why Remy will be a decent buy as well Ts.
Bony is decent have always said that but if anyone says he’s the Suarez replacement that’s just nuts….

It is what it is AGAG ๐Ÿ™‚

  116. tsgh says:

Isco under Pelle’ with Syg’s buddy Toulalon and Camacho in CM covering his backside was very potent though…

I think he is too short and will cost loads of money…

  117. AndrewH says:

Tai, plenty of sites have photo of him at a Spanish airport!
Mind you Higuan was at the same airport last year.

  118. agirlagunner says:

Isco cost 30 million Euros, I think. Hmmm. But he is just 22, and there could be plenty of improvement. She does, Ginge, but I feel that her face will never decompose, god knows what she had injected.

    Lol, WATH.

  119. AndrewH says:

ts, clutching at any news last night, a picture and quote with his barber was pretty good news!

  120. tsgh says:

  122. goonster says:

    Sanchez really? Sancheeeeeeeeeeeez….Yeaaaaaaaaahhhh.

  123. tsgh says:

I am about to drive home…

I can’t wait to hear Tshite’s views on how Van Gaal is such a genius that he used Aston Villa’s defender as his no.1 penalty taker. ๐Ÿ˜› Considering Van Gaal trained the goalie on how to save penalties.

A few days ago apparently Van Gaal did something AW can never do… think tactically. ๐Ÿ™‚ by bring Krul on in extra time.

  124. tsgh says:

Goonie-When and IF S is announced the I.T.K police can check my January ‘guess’ on Costa and ‘S’ destinations stated for this summer. ๐Ÿ˜›

  125. goonster says:

agag I can’t even sit still…God help me. We have two world class players at their peak on arsenal? I need a head butt from WATH’s massive melon. Sancheeeeeeeeeeeez. Yeeeeeeaaaaaah

  128. goonster says:

Omg I just watched some amazing footage of sanchez in udinese colors. This guy is the shit. And he hasn’t even peaked yet. He’s up there with the messis ronaldos robbens. We have a massive player on our hands ginge. God help me. I can’t stay still.

  129. AndrewH says:

Ssssssh Stan, if Barca read your last comment, they will up the price to 45 million before its signed off.

Rico I didn’t use any banned words I promise

  132. Micko says:

Just to put everyone’s mind at rest, I know an air traffic controller who’s told me sanchez ‘s private jet got a puncture on the runway, hence the delay, I’ve got no reason to lie……..

    rico 2.28, it’s called karma !

  133. goonster says:

You and me both joe…Christ. it’s really happening. Can’t imagine what the dutch skunk ll be thinking now

  134. Gonerjoe says:

I’ll have to go to work soon another day wasted and still this “S” bloke has not scored(signed).
After 23.00 hours I’ll be in communication lock down after that wont know till the morning.
So everyone at Arsenal can you please get a move on oh I hope everyone enjoys the top secret unveiling tonight.

  135. Hell Raising Devil says:

Calm down Stan. Is your surname Laurel???

    Stan Laurel!!!!!

I feel that besides Sanchez, Debuchy, Remy and maybe Khedira there is another trick up AW’s sleeve.

I feel that he will surprise us all with another superstar.

  136. Hell Raising Devil says:

Sanchez, Debuchy and Remy will cost a combined 63 million. There are 37 million left.

    Who will AW buy???

  137. Micko says:

rico, wonder if we’ll see Kroenke in a big shiny stetson cowboy hat this evening, sod the launch.

  138. Woody says:

I’m not sure we will get too many more, if those 3 do indeed come through the door.

Wenger doesn’t like too many first team changes in 1 summer. I can see an understudy coming in. But when you look at our squad…

    Szczesny

    Debuchy Mertesacker Coscienly Gibbs

    Khedira Ramsey

    Sanchez Ozil Cazorla

    Giroud

Subs: Choose from the following squad.

New goalkeeper, Jenkinson, Monreal, Vermaelen (should he not be allowed to leave), Wilshere, Arteta, Flamini, Rosicky, Diaby, the Ox, Remy, Sanogo, Podolski, Gnarby, Campell

  139. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Woody………..Where is Theo????

I feel that AW will still go for Aurier…….he can play across the entire back line and that should not be scoffed at.

  140. Woody says:

In fact, I’d go as far as to say that if Khiedra comes in, then either Arteta or Flamini will leave.

  141. Woody says:

Jeez – there you go HRD,our squad is pretty full.

From the subs list 8-9 will not be picked for the squad every week.

  142. Woody says:

So people will be shipped out.

I can see another defender, but only if either Jenkinson goes out on load, or TV goes to Manure

  143. Wavy says:

Can’t see him buying Aurier, sorry. I think Wenger has been burned too often by the ACofN to lose his players at a crucial time in the season and then they take the piss by going AWOL after elimination is, sadly a pill he will no longer swallow.
But he may well look for and find another good quality utility defender. I’ll leave somebody else to come up with viable alternatives!

  144. Hell Raising Devil says:

you want a solid utility defender Wavy???

One who can play across the entire back line???

    Here goes……..

Boateng (BM), Caceres (Juve), Theophile Catherine Kevin (Cardiff), Schwaab (Stuttgart), Shkodran (Sampdoria), Makeev (Spartak M)

  145. tsgh says:

    Micko,3 days ago I said 2 or 3 other signings.German midfielder not Sami…
ITK or guessing or re-writing someone else’s comments? up to you to read between the lines.
As they say a word to a wise is always enough.
Micko I can give you the dates in January and May to check yourself.lol
I must be in Van Gaals pocket last night too when I guessed De Jong will be subbed before ,60 mins and not sent off? ๐Ÿ˜›

  146. tsgh says:

Rico, if I am not sure how I am breaking any of your rules or cheesing you off…

All i do like most regular posters on here is give an opinion and sometimes say how things may be… ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have never claimed to be in the know…. you claim other people interpret what i say to be so which is understandable but when I am subtly been accused of telling lies or making up stuff then its a bit personal imho…

Chile international striker Alexis Sanchez has agreed to join Arsenal Football Club on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.

Sanchez, 25, joins Arsenal from Barcelona where he made a total of 88 appearances, scoring 39 goals during his three seasons with the Catalan side.

With Barcelona, Sanchez won both La Liga (2012/13) and the Copa del Rey (2012), as well as the Spanish Super Cup on two occasions (2011, 2013), the UEFA Super Cup (2011) and the FIFA Club World Cup (2011).

Regarded as one of the worldโ€™s finest talents, Sanchez has just returned from the World Cup in Brazil, where he played an integral role in Chile qualifying from their group (which included the Netherlands, Spain and Australia) and reaching the round of 16. During the tournament, Sanchez scored two goals from his four appearances.

He has consistently produced top-quality performances at the highest level for a number of seasons now and we are all excited to see him integrate into the Arsenal squad
    Arsรจne Wenger

The striker, who has now made 71 appearances for Chile, scoring 24 goals, started his career with Cobreloa, based in Calama in north Chile, where he spent a season before moving to Santiago-based Colo-Colo, where he won the Chilean Primera Division in 2007.

After convincing performances in Chile between 2005 and 2007, Sanchez went on loan to Argentine side River Plate, where he added the Argentinian Primera Division to his honours.

Following his success in South America, Sanchez made a permanent move to Serie A side Udinese in 2008, where he spent three seasons, scoring 20 goals from 95 appearances, before making the move to Barcelona in 2011.

Arsenal manager Arsรจne Wenger said: โ€œAs many people have seen during the World Cup this summer, Alexis is a fantastic footballer and we are delighted that he is joining us at Arsenal Football Club.

โ€œAlexis will add power, creativity and much quality to our squad and we are all looking forward to him joining up with us in a few weeks. He has consistently produced top-quality performances at the highest level for a number of seasons now and we are all excited to see him integrate into the Arsenal squad. Iโ€™m sure all Arsenal supporters will join me in welcoming Alexis to our club.โ€

Sanchez said: โ€œIโ€™m so happy to be joining Arsenal, a club which has a great manager, a fantastic squad of players, huge support around the world and a great stadium in London. Iโ€™m looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and to be playing for Arsenal in the Premier League and Champions League. I will give my best to Arsenal and want to make all the supporters happy.โ€

Sanchez travelled to London Colney on Thursday to complete his medical and will join up with his new team-mates at the end of July, after spending some time on holiday following the World Cup.

It is expected that Sanchez will make his first Arsenal appearance at the Emirates Cup, which takes place at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3.

Sanchezโ€™s Arsenal squad number will be revealed soon through Arsenalโ€™s official Instagram account.

A full interview with Alexis will feature soon on Arsenal Player.

Adam van gaal is a wily old tactician. He took a young Ajax team to the European cup final twice in succession. Winning one against Milan and losing the other against juve. He seems to have gone off the boil lately but make no mistake he’s still the shit. AZ akmaar won the league a few years back with relatively unknown players. That’s how good he is. Hey some may say it’s the eredivise but he’s track record is awesome. I hate him though cause if his connection with Ajax and how that Ajax team used to pulverize and pummel my local team then…8.0 7.1 5.0 home or away. Men I hate that turd he cuddles my piss…brrrr.

Begs a question, for which there is no answer.
If Wenger had gone at the end of the season would AS have chosen Arsenal, would Little Dickie have been able to cut the deal” without Le Chef in the background. I suspect he would not and we would in fact have bought Demba Ba and thought ourselves well done to!
We seem to have joined the Big League inhabited by oily greaseballs and dubious billionaires from the eastern bloc and a couple of yank chancers.
Let’s go competing………….whoopee for Wenger. Let’s have some more in and show the world that were back at the top, top table.

  177. Scott From Oz says:

Wavy, it’s a damn good question, and I’m with you….no Wenger, no Sanchez, but that’s just an opinion.

  178. rico says:

No need for a ‘sorry’ Scott..

Wavy, my answer is no, I don’t think Sanchez would have signed, but that’s just opinion.

But, I don’t think that is all related to talks, I just think many players still believe he is a superb coach and maybe, just maybe, if the club get the right players this summer, we’ll see something more like the old Arsene.

Yesterday I said about I was pleased after AW signed his new contract, and that was based solely on my belief that things would change…

I truly believe he would have walked away if changes weren’t about to happen. And, he’s been so relaxed in Rio ๐Ÿ˜‰

And that’s just my opinion…. Nothing more, nothing less….

Sancheeeeeeeeeeeez…..Am fucking delirious right now. Still gotta go pick Emma and brianna from the day care. God help me. So drunk in love ๐Ÿ˜€ sancheeeeeeeeeeeez. Yeeeeeeaaaaaah

  180. tsgh says:

    Well put Wavy…

He still needs to sort out how the team preps for 12:45pm kick off’s and get a bit pragmatic as Rico and Wath would say in certain games..

  181. AndrewH says:

Morning Scott, its peeing down here, bit brighter over there? But nothing deflates now, we ave him.

  182. Scott From Oz says:

Andrew, the guy is EXACTLY what we’ve been lacking.
Exactly the type of player Wenger needed to bring in, IMO.
Sitting outside the office punching away at the IPad, so bloody excited by this one.

  183. tsgh says:

Better late than never but if it was not for Jaws and Pere Guadiola we could have had El Nino last summer…

It would have been a double instead of just the Fa cup…

Still double next season if the Real Boy Wonder stays fit…

  184. Tai Emeka Obasi says:

Never believed we could pull it through…Liverpool missed because Sanchez understands his value. Suarez is a great player…greater than our new boy presently but to shift Sanchez to Liverpool plus 40+million pounds just to take Suarez bothers on the absolutely ridiculous.

And Sanchez is no fool. The Chilean decided not to cheapen himself, told Barca he wasn’t interested in any swap despite pressure and headed our way. Great!

Two things Wenger has done that has given me real confidence 1. Reject Fabregas 2. Sign Sanchez without his usual drag. If goes to the third and grabs Kheidira…!

  185. tsgh says:

The world is gone mad when a rich person can’t call a so called friend’s partner/wife to send condolences but does it on social media…

Rico its agreat feeling is’nt itWe have allready made some great signings this T/w(youth and First Team ) and there is more to come.
I’m looking forward to watching the Launch , a great finish to a great day.

  188. snaparse says:

I’m I thrilled or what?….absolutely buzzing a great signing for us and it was done early too….wow

  189. Woody says:

    Evening All.

    Happy Unbelievable Signing Day!!

I’m so happy this evening…let’s hope we have more good news to come

  190. Scott From Oz says:

Damn, it’s lovely when Wenger does business early………..keeps plenty quiet hahahahahaha

  191. Sukky says:

I thought โ€ ฬฅั’ฦบ new kit will be unveiled tonight,I haven’t see any.Sanchez is ours at last.Morgan,Remy and Debuchy to follow.I love this transfer window.

  192. Scott From Oz says:

Seriously, things are buzzing ATM……it’s even bigger than when we signed Ozil.
    A few factors.
Plenty believe the Ozil signing was forced on the club, where this wasn’t.
This was done early in the transfer window.
Most relevant, IMO, is because it comes on top of the Ozil signing, and shows we are back!!!

Can’t see too many being worn in the pubs round the ground pre match. Strangely not every fan has a six pack to suit the shirts.

  196. Biscuitbum says:

The signing of Sanchez is a game changer. I keep saying his name every few minutes as it`s hard to believe we`re now buying players of his quality. God, it feels good to be conducting our business fairly early for a change.

  197. Wath says:

    We signed anyone yet……………………?

    Alexis f’kin Sanchez…………………………………

    Bring it on…..

  198. tsgh says:

Wath on the bender? 2 am post? ๐Ÿ™‚
Scott re your 10:24 post,if things continue as they are you might find yourself having no one to tell off on here…
what I want to know is if the board forced AW to buy ElNino as the general word is AW is a tight git who does not want to spend and prefers freebies from France. ๐Ÿ˜›

  199. tsgh says:

In my view AW is very misunderstood.
if he had the money a few years ago he would have spent it imho…
the joy on his face when we won the fa cup shows a man who wants to win like we fans but he is man and human enough to put the future of afc ahead of his own ego unlike other managers who come 10 a dime…
Like fans believing Ozil was a fluke because AV beat us on match d 1.
As someone who respects and loves AW, if I happened to have some info to depend AW when he is unjustly being slated it becomes hard not to say something even if one wants to maintain someones trust or not appear arrogant as Lady Rico might say…
Just to clarify I am not deluded enough to try and claim to be itk when saying something but should be cconfidential on the www.

Like I only ever bring up Iposted Ozior knew about his signing last summer just to defend AW when fans claim it was forced on him.
I only brought up Costa going to chavs post especially to show AW enquired before January but was told he was going to the chavs.

    Morning Lee

    Morning Scott

In London it’s pissing down everywhere,

    Except in N5

Where the sun is shining… ๐Ÿ™‚

  201. allezkev says:

    Wath, a 2am post!!!

Has that got anything to do with a certain Alexis Sanchez I wonder? ๐Ÿ˜€

  202. Scott From Oz says:

    Morning all.
    Wenger genuinely loves this club.
No doubt in my mind everything he does is for what he believes to be the right thing for Arsenal.
    What a signing.

  203. Scott From Oz says:

Ginge, he’s been awfully quiet of late….
Adam, I hope Sanchez’s actions do all the talking.
Ps….I knew he isn’t who you were talking about ๐Ÿ™‚

  204. allezkev says:

    We’ll done Tai…

I’ve still got my Arsenal shirt with Joe Hulme on the back…

    Morning Adam…

Scott, if it wasn’t shining, then I would be truely shocked… ๐Ÿ˜‰

  205. allezkev says:

Tai, I’m thinking of have Charles Charlie Charles on the back of my new shirt…

Lee is hanging on until we sign Bender… ๐Ÿ™‚

  206. Scott From Oz says:

Just ordered my away kit…Ramsey….home kit….plain…Sean’s home kit with…….wait for it……drumroll……..Sanchez hahaha.
    Little bandwagon jumper ๐Ÿ™‚

  207. Adam says:

Kev. Will you be serving free sandwiches and Earl Grey in the cab when you wear your Charles Charlie Charles shirt?

  208. Adam says:

You’re right Scott. I remember how my opinion of you changed after I met you that excellent evening. :). Once I heard the interrogative lift at the end of your sentences of course. ๐Ÿ™‚

  209. allezkev says:

    Nice one Scott…

Let’s hope that Sean will soon be ordering his Khadira shirt… ๐Ÿ˜‰

  210. allezkev says:

Well I try to live up to the high standards set by Rico…

Adam, it’s the civilised thing to do…
I often have a cup of Lady Grey when I’m thrashing out Bridge of Sighs on the Old Joanna.

  211. Scott From Oz says:

Kev, I’m sure it will be next ๐Ÿ™‚
Seriously, if we get Debuchy, a keeper, Remy and Khedira, the other League clubs will be bloody terrified!!

  212. rico says:

A lot of stories suggesting we won’t get Remy as we wouldn’t meet his demands – he’s now back in talks with Newcastle….

  213. rico says:

Not sure how much truth is in that Scott but I would imagine Qpr had to pay him big money in order to get him to sign…

  214. tsgh says:

Rico, your dreams might come true… apparently CJ25 has been playing in central defence in training thus far.

  215. tsgh says:

Rico, this time Pardew can’t say we left it too late like Cabaye…

It just shows how most EPL managers and teams do whatever it takes for us not to sign any of their players…

  216. tsgh says:

Obviously that is why the media say Arsenal are working on a deal for Atletico Madrid right-back Javi Manquillo.

  217. tsgh says:

Personally, I like the idea of Manquillo instead of Debuchy so CJ25 can stay and Bellerin can also get games. The deal was too expensive anyway. ยฃ10m plus ยฃ75kp/w for Debuchy…

Manquillo is very close to replacing Juanfran anyway… and that is saying something as Juan fran is top defnsive and all round RB.

Sagna after his long and illustrous service with us was only offered ยฃ70k and was on less than ยฃ60kp/w

  218. tsgh says:

    Alexis Sanchez’s conversion rate over the last three seasons 2011-12 30.8%, 2012-13 25.8%, 2013-14 31.2%.

  219. tsgh says:

A very telling statement about from a football great Stoichkov

”Because of some who don’t understand football, we have to sell the best player [Alexis] we have at Barca.” – Hristo Stoichkov

  220. fatgun_ug says:

Morning all, thrilled to see Alexis in the red and white.
    Dreams trully come true.
    Where is the new post
    Rico? Am waiting……….
    Sanchez……….
    Yeah!!!!

  221. tsgh says:

In his face… BOOOOM! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ Clueless scousers..

They thought waving almost all of Jaws salary in front of El Nino will make him join them…

Steven Gerrard @SG8Official_ ยท Jul 3 It’s laughter to realise Arsenal think they will sign Alexis Sanchez. OMG!! Sanchez will join Liverpool by all means. Mark my words!

  222. bondex says:

Morning guys, happy happy days ,really feels good to be on this side at last . Now other teams will begin to take us serious.

  223. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Studs and Mares.

Has Sanchez kicked a ball yet??

Oh Lord……its been already a month and a half since we last won a cup.

  224. Hell Raising Devil says:

Ginge…..dont waste time on Bendy. use your posts for something more exciting, more creative and more desirable.

Like Lana del Rey for example.

  225. tsgh says:

Oh shite, the Metro say Di Maria, hummels are heading to Yanited.

Thank heavens Adil Rami has signed for Milan… we don’t want his sorts still on the market just in case Aw gets tempted for a Le Squid replacement. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  226. tsgh says:

Damn, Cesc must be slitting his wrist by now… ๐Ÿ˜‰ Then again he messed us up last summer when he could have come Home.

  227. allezkev says:

    Gerrard, what a plank…

I hope he retires from England.
    Totally over-hyped and overrated player.

  228. tsgh says:

Kev, how great will it be if exactly 30 days from now we are talking about Sanchez doing a Gilberto Silva by scoring in the community shield on his debut against City to get us the first trophy of the season…

  229. tsgh says:

I can’t get this obsession with sections of fans wanting CJ25 to go on loan?

He is british and is a very dependable young player, playing in a very top team. He has room to improve and will and can play in CB too;We need competition even though I rate Bellerin as well.

But we need English/homegrown players we can’t be getting rid of true gooners imho…

  230. Hell Raising Devil says:

Maybe that is the plan in AW’s mind…..he got Debuchy, is getting Manquillo as backup, and more Jenks to the CB position. Maybe even getting JD back

    makes sense to me

  231. Adam says:

Keep away from Twitter Rico. It’s full of weirdos and social inadequates to say nothing of insecure saddos and predatory knobheads. Say it ain’t so.

  232. tsgh says:

    Not a bad idea Dev-
I know JD had a great game against Argentina but imo he was super suspect against France and was average for Hamburg in the Bundesliga… Hamburg only escaped relegation…

I know not all his fault but; will JD want to come back and play 3rd or 4th choice? Will his performances retard with him on the bench if TV stays?

Note that if TV is fit and stays he will be starting the Community Shield with Kosser in central defense as the BFG won’t be ready by then…

We also have Miguel who I rate too as a 4th choice too plus i hope to see Hayden get given a chance in central defence if he is not sent on loan.

  233. rico says:

Merse reckons Germany aren’t that good a side and will lose against Argentina…

    What is he smokin…… lol

  234. tsgh says:

Kev/Rick any news on Toral? I saw in the photos he has been training … will he stay or go on loan?

  235. Adam says:

It’s the “If used properly” caveat that is so unrealistic in today’s world Rico. As we know, so many have an agenda these days, usually inspired by personal insecurity with a bit of madness tingeing the edges. I can’t stand social media, but then I am a miserable sod.

  236. rico says:

Yes Adam, but I don’t bother with that kind of stuff or those kind of people….

    And yes, you are… ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰

  237. Nickie says:

I have a feeling Manquillo is understudy for Debuchy. Apparently Debuchy is done. Jenkinson out on loan for a full first team season. Who loses out here? A spanish right back who isn’t ours and gets barely any game time. Genius plan

  238. rico says:

And meanwhile, Jenks plays every week at Newcastle Nickie….

    I haven’t been able to find him Scott… ๐Ÿ˜‰
